Tokyo Revengers Groupchat (Final Timeline)
Warnings: suggestive (i might have to change this warning to "mentions of sexual content" bcs it's too tame of a warning for the stuff that's actually in here), swearing, the word "pedophile" is mentioned, mentions of substance abuse
Desc: Everyone finds out Takemitchy and Mikey are time leapers, which leads to some...interesting questions
Tumblr media
Mitsuya: so let me get this straight
Mitsuya: you're a time traveler, and you've lived dozens of timelines to prevent Hina from dying but she kept dying anyway but then when you got to one where she didn't die, Mikey was some deranged criminal lord and was miserable and depressed and tried to kill himself so you had to go back in time again to make sure everything was fixed but ended up dying while fighting Mikey but then somehow you both went back in time and rewrote all of our entire lives??
Takemitchy: yeah...
Baji: cap
Mikey: it's not
Mitsuya: so Mikey's a time traveler too?
Mikey: yeah it's crazy i know
Draken: do you guys have any way to prove this?
Chifuyu: this explains why i keep getting random visions of me in alternate universes. holy shit
Haruchiyo: weird ass prank
Takemitchy: i think it happened since you're close to me and we basically did everything together. i'm not sure
Inupi: we're just gonna believe this?
Koko: wait, i kind of do
Kisaki: this...defies all logic of anything ever.
Mikey: shut up Kisaki
Mikey: i'm sorry it's just that in ever other timeline you've ruined my life so it's difficult to be nice to you sometimes
Kisaki: so you don't like me because of something i did in another universe?
Takemitchy: *timeline
Mikey: yeah. my bad
Baji: i'm gonna entertain this cause i'm bored but what was i like in other timelines
Mikey: dead
Baji: ...all of em?
Mikey: yeah, it kinda drove me to insanity
Baji: damn
Baji: why?
Mikey: you killed yourself to save Kazutora
Baji: what was the context
Mikey: long story
Baji: there wasn't any other way?
Mikey: you're kinda pissing me off cause that's what i was wondering, actually
Baji: damn
Kazutora: thanks man. appreciate it🙏
Kazutora: i'll slobber on your meat later, as a proper thank you
Baji: i'd appreciate that. thanks homie🙌
Koko: what about me?
Baji: you wanna slobber on my meat? i mean i won't stop you. as long as i can call you kitten.
Koko: ...i was talking about me in alternate universe's😐
Takemitchy: i don't think we should go there guys. there's too many timelines, and not everything was exactly the same. and also in general it was a really traumatizing experience for me and i kind of want to end my life every time i think about it
Hanma: womp womp. what about me???
Mikey: murderer
Hanma: YESSSSS 😭😭😭😭😭
Hanma: THANK GOD, I KNEW IF I COULDN'T DO IT HERE, MULTIVERSE ME WOULD HAVE LIVED THE DREAM
Hanma: are me and Tetta-san together in every universe
Mikey: surprisingly, yes
Hanma: and he denies we're soulmates😔
Kisaki: i will not hesitate to get another restraining order
Hanma: a piece of paper won't stand in my way. let's get married
Kisaki: i will call the police
Draken: guys are we really entertaining this?
Mikey: you went to jail in one of the timelines and you were bald LMAO
Draken: sure
Baji: why'd he go to jail?
Mikey: these guys killed Emma and Ken-chin took revenge
Baji: respectable
Mikey: he was given a death sentence
Baji: that's tough fr
Ran: i'm kinda curious
Ran: humour me, what was i like?? was i famous?
Mikey: you were a criminal. killed people
Ran: sounds about right if i'm being honest
Ran: and Haruchiyo and Rindou?
Haruchiyo: leave me out of Takemitchy's psychotic episodes
Haruchiyo: i think you have a hallucination/delusion disorder or something
Mikey: but don't you believe me?
Haruchiyo: ...
Haruchiyo: Mikey, you're also pretty mentally ill
Mikey: says you???
Haruchiyo: i just have substance abuse problems and i'm getting clean so...
Mikey: GUYS I'M TELLING THE TRUTH I SWEAR
Mikey: I'VE BEEN GOING CRAZY KEEPING THIS A SECRET
Draken: when was the last time you slept?
Mikey: ☹️
Baji: guys just play pretend.
Rindou: what about me?
Mikey: same as your brother just uh, less gay and slutty?
Rindou: story of my life
Inupi: you didn't do Koko
Mikey: criminal
Koko: the whole time?
Mikey: yeah
Mikey: Inupi got normal at some point because he and Ken-chin got close and they fixed bikes together and had sex
Inupi: Draken????
Draken: you're really starting to piss me off.
Mikey: Akane died in the fire though like she was BURNT
Takemitchy: uh Mikey-kun...
Mikey: she was a crisp i'm telling you
Mikey: Inupi you had an ugly red scar on your face and no one wanted you
Mikey: Izana i know you're reading this, you were fucking insane dude like you killed Emma for some fucking reason then Kisaki shot you 3 times in the chest and you died while having a really bad mental breakdown. it was a major L on your part
Chifuyu: Mikey why are you leaving out the fact that the common denominator in every single timeline was that you killed every single one of your friends in the most brutal ways possible🤨?
Mikey: no comment
Smiley: how'd he kill me?
Chifuyu: uhhh
Chifuyu: Takemitchy help me out here
Takemitchy: i don't want to talk about it😐
Chifuyu: I REMEMBER
Chifuyu: backshot
Smiley: ...
Smiley: he killed me by giving me backshots..?
Smiley: i would NEVER take it from behind
Smiley: especially from MIKEY
Smiley: small dick having ass
Smiley: my bootyhole is not to be messed with
Smiley: i'm so pissed off right now holy shit
Smiley: how did i even die???? dick so good it killed me?
Smiley: i'm so angry
Angry: and i'm Smiley😂
Baji: 3/10 joke 👎, poor delivery, fell flat
Smiley: i hope you kill yourself, Mikey
Mikey: trust me, i've tried
Chifuyu: ???
Chifuyu: he shot you in the back with a gun?
Chifuyu: what's wrong with you
Smiley: oh my bad i though you meant like, he was taking me doggy style
Smiley: i'm no bottom
Ran: what is happening
Chifuyu: i'm moving on😐
Chifuyu: Hakkai was tied to a chair and burnt to death
Hakkai: wha-
Hakkai: WHAT DID I DO??
Hakkai: jesus 😟
Chifuyu: why am i getting all these memories, i'm freaking out
Hakkai: Mikey please tell me what i did to deserve that ☹️
Mikey: idk Hakkai i was going through a lot
Draken: have you been diagnosed with anything?
Mikey: i don't need a diagnosis bcs i'm fine now, you're all alive and i don't have any murderous intent!!! yippee🤗
Mikey: isn't this great Takemitchy??
Takemitchy: well, yeah no ones dead so that's great
Izana: this is obviously completely fabricated
Izana: are you guys that bored?
Senju: man for all that time traveling you sure are a shit boyfriend😭
Takemitchy: how????
Takemitchy: did Hina say that☹️??
Senju: it's an observation
Senju: you've had way too many coincidental close calls with other woman💀
Draken: yeah you pissed me off when you thought i was gifting you a prostitute. you had a whole ass girlfriend. shame on you
Senju: and you also almost slept with Emma and you "don't remember"
Smiley: Mitchy's low-key funny as hell because what do you mean you stripped yourself and another girl down to your underwear by accident
Baji: wouldn't Takemitchy be a pedophile then?? Emma was 13 dawg🤨
Mikey: he was 14 though😭
Baji: you're gonna ride Takemitchy's dick to defend him from trying to sleep with your 13 year old sister??? crazy
Baji: wasn't be mentally 26🤨?
Baji: bro i'm gonna beat your ass actually
Mikey: hmm
Mikey: you know what Mitchy, why did you do that 🤨?
Smiley: LMFAOO
Mitsuya: why did i come back to Takemitchy facing pedophile allegations, like what's going on right now
Kazutora: is it not enough that he changed the space and time continuum just to be with his girl?
Kazutora: cheating this cheating that, my boy deserves all the pussy he wants
Kazutora: he's been beaten, shot, stabbed AND killed
Kazutora: i personally believe he's the goat
Baji: ?
Chifuyu: goat is an acronym for "greatest of all time", Baji-san
Baji: what's an acronym
Chifuyu: i'll dm
Kazutora: bro you're so fucking stupid😭
Draken: i don't care if he was skinned alive by an orangutan, there's no excuse to cheat on someone
Rindou: i think being skinned alive by an orangutang warrants having more than one girl. idk that's just me tho
Ran: not the point that's being made rn
Rindou: what exactly is the point that's being made
Rindou: is this real. are we being serious.
Rindou: i don't think i get the joke
Haruchiyo: i think we should all stop talking now
Mikey: Mitchy we need to talk a bit
Takemitchy: i told you this was a bad idea

Lame, okay.
Toxic! Tokyo revenger headcannons
(Back in my Tokyo revenger era 😭)
Tumblr media
Mikey
Too clingy.
Acts like you’re his life support…literally.
One time you woke up in the middle of the night to get water, you were gone for about 5 minutes and in that short time Mikey was able to have a full blown panic attack.
“Y/N, where did you go?” He whined as you sighed shaking your head going to hug him, as he wiped his tears on your pajamas. “Mikey, I just went to the kitchen it’s ok.” You said as he rubbed his cheek against yours, pulling you back into bed with him burying his face in your chest mumbling about how you should never leave his side again.
Every time you guys go in public like the store, mall, out to eat or anything like that he has a death grip on you. You’re always to hesitant to tell him that it feels like you’re hand is about to snap due to his unnecessary grip.
The first red flag in the relationship was in the first few weeks of dating. You and an old guy friend spotted each other at the park you two were at, you didn’t realize it but Mikey was shaking like a mad man his eyes wide and full of rage. Mikey, didn’t want to beat him to death especially infront of you so he “politely” excused himself from the situation. He was gone for about 30 minutes you and your friend were only talking for about 5 or 7 minutes, you couldn’t believe what he said he was doing when you asked him about it.
“Mikey!? Where did you go!?” You asked spotting him sitting by the lake throwing pieces of bread, “I was feeding the ducks!!” He said smiling widely hoping you wouldn’t notice the giant hole in the tree beside you with blood stains on it. You’ve thought about breaking up with him but he’s honestly so sweet to you, so you’ll learn to deal with his behavior but it naturally will get old soon.
Baji
Very very very overprotective.
“Babe, I don’t think you should be around here.” Baji said holding onto your arm pressing your body against yours, as you two walked around downtown which was surprisingly kind of empty. “Baji, my aunt needs these” You said holding the bag of different medicines your aunt lived in one of the neighborhoods downtown.
“Yea, ok.” Baji said rolling his eyes hardly as you two turned a corner to see a homeless man “ma’am..do you perhaps have some money?” He asked as Baji’s guard was immediately up. “No, get lost” Baji said tugging you away from him only for to you push him away, as you pulled your wallet out and handing the homeless man a few dollars. Baji couldn’t believe his eyes and before you could even blink the homeless man was knocked out on the ground, Baji standing on his head.
What the fuck?!” You said pushing Baji off him. “Sorry…..I thought he was about to punch you.” Baji said as you stared at the poor man before tucking the money in his coat pocket, and storming off making sure to give your boyfriend a lethal death glare.
He’s like your own attack dog if you were crazy enough and ordered him to fight someone for you, he definitely would and wouldn’t stop until they couldn’t walk. He doesn’t care if it’s a old man, old lady, kid, girl, woman, boy, man, cat, rat, bat he’ll fight them cause he’ll do anything to protect you!
“Y/N, why are you crying?” Baji asked rushing up to you as you fell into his strong arms sobbing. “A-Abby” he heard you whisper as his adrenaline started to race(idk if I worded that right). Abby was your bully who so happened to have a “crush” on Baji, she had been so rude to you at work normally you would ignore her but today…she really got under your skin. After calming you down and making you a big comfy spot on the couch, Baji said he was going to go get your favorite snacks.
Later that night you and Baji were sitting on the couch watching a movie. Baji was half asleep laying his head on your lap, as your phone dinged from an unknown number You hesitantly clicked it. What you saw made your jaw drop it was Abby getting jumped by 4 guys. “What the freak” you muttered quickly deleting and blocking the number throwing your phone across the room onto a different couch.
Completely unaware of the wicked smile on Baji’s face.
Mistuya
He babies/ enables you.
He has child proofed certain things in the house.
“Mistuya, are you serious.” You said in disbelief as you stared at the plastic knifes and forks in the drawer. “Safety first!” Mistuya said patting your head as you saw him put the actual knifes and forks into a drawer with a lock on it. You felt more like one of his little sisters then girlfriend, sure he was the definition of perfect but damn. You wished he’d understand that you could do most things by yourself.
“Oh, your shoes are untied, here let me get that for you.” Mistuya said as you two stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, he smiled at you softly patting his knee gesturing for you to put your foot up.
“I can do it myself!” You bending down as you quickly tried to tie your shoes somehow tangling the string. “Come on don’t be silly, you still do bunny ears!” Mistuya said bending down pushing your hands away as you watched his cute little delicate hands undid the strings.
Sometimes without knowing he would embarrass you especially infront of his friends. “Remember that one time you tripped on the baby gate? I had to put up cause you’re so clumsy” Mistuya asked laughing as Mikey and draken started to laugh at you. “Baby gates? I didnt know Y/n was a toddler!” Mikey teased as Mistuya chuckled but quickly stopped seeing the way you were staring at him like you wanted to murder him.
Despite the fact you always check him on what he does, and how much he apologizes and promises not to do it again he obviously still keeps doing it.
But at the end of the day he’s still YOUR man so you can’t say too much since you’re choosing to date him!
Hakkai
Wayyyyy to obsessed with you.
At first you thought it was adorable how often he checked up on, how often he hung out with you, how often he was thinking and talking about you. Until it became weird and weirder.
“There’s motion at your front door.” The notification on your phone said as you sat up out of your bed, checking the camera to see two big indigo eyes peering into the camera scaring you to death. “Y/N, its me Hakkai” Your boyfriends soft voice said as he revealed his jaw dropping stunning gorjus smile. You quickly rushed downstairs and let him in as he hugged you, when you questioned him he nervously explained on how he had just been in the area and wanted to see you.
He clearly has the mind of a bed bug cause after he left after a few hours of talking, something was telling you to check all of the cameras you had around your house and when you did boy his ass was grass. You saw Hakkai, walking around your house his eyes glowing in the night vision camera like he was a wild animal or something. He was peering into all your windows as you heard your dog barking. ‘That’s why she was barking?!’ You thought as you saw Hakkai jump at the noise as he ran to the back of the house where your bedroom was.
It turns out he was actually taking pictures of you while you were sleep, you were a little nervous but the next morning you two met up at a cafe and you brung it up as soon as you two sat down at your table.
“What? I would never do that.” Hakkai said as he took a bite of the cake he had, as you tried showing him the footage only to not find it all. And you knew that you saved it to your camera roll.
“You feeling ok, baby? Are you sick?” Hakkai asked with a worried look as he cupped your cheeks in his hands, and you nodded sighing.
‘She didn’t realize I hacked into her phone!’ Hakkai thought happily
The first time you went over his house probably should’ve been the last….
“Wow, your room is cute.” You said looking around it was surprisingly neat and smelt like lavender, you were pretty sure he only cleaned up for you thought. “Thanks!” He said as you looked at the posters on the wall of many different things like sports and stuff. “I’ll be right back, I’ll go get you something to drink make yourself at home” Hakkai said excitedly as you nodded sitting down on the bed to see a picture of you framed on the nightstand next to his bed. There was also a picture of you and him together, him and his sister, and of course him and Mistuya, and a few with him and his other friends. You smiled widely at the thought of the love and devotion he had for his friends and family, before you noticed light shining behind a door. It wasn’t his closet cause his closet was one of the first things you saw when you walked in.
You walked up to it cracking the door open slightly as your jaw dropped. You saw a few dim lights surrounding pictures…:pictures of you, what really got you were the pictures from last night of you sleeping.
“Y/N?” Hakkai asked as you quickly back away from the door as he had a tray of drinks and snacks on it. “What were you doing?” He asked as you put on a fake smile . “I was just curious to what was in there, I didn’t see anything” you said as he tilted his head to the right as you sat down on the bed.
“Whatever you say, love” Hakkai said as you thought about ways to distant your self from him. (It doesn’t work and it never will.)
Smiley
What’s not toxic about his bitch ass🙄 there’s a lot of things but let’s only go through the worst one, the way he’s roasts you like his life depends on it.
“You kind of look like a cracked out ferret in that jacket, take it off” Smiley said as you side eyed him zipping up the jacket that was actually cute asf. “Shut up for once, damn” You said frowning as you and angry stared at him like he was crazy.
No matter how many times you(really just angry) try to check him it just plays it off as joking, you’ve always been skeptical if he was. But angry always reassures you that’s his brother means no harm if he did he would’ve been made you bite the curb.
“Babe, you look like you eat mattresses for a living.” Smiley said as he helped you put on eyeshadow. “Are you kidding me? Why do you have to say things like that?” You said as his smile only seemed to get wider. “Like what?” He said snarkiliy as you rolled your eyes standing up to stare at your perfect face in the mirror. “You always make fun of me for everything I do…” you said walking out to the living to see angry sitting on the couch, you guys were going out to eat. “Don’t be stupid. You know I love you” Smiley said following you throwing his arm around your shoulder as angry stared at you with sad eyes.
A good thing is if anyone were to try to come for you he’d be very quick to put them in their place!
When you two were in the beginning stages you were getting picked on and smiley was the only one to help you out. “You wanna come for my, Y/N? First of all your lace front is literally lifting up, your underwear is probably crusty and musty just like your mom. Your built like a watermelon” Smiley went on and on until the girl finally went away tears in her eyes.
You can always count on him to have your back!
Angry
Delusional.
He got on smileys nerves so bad when he had a crush on you. Everyday smiley had to hear “she looked at me she must love me!” “She waved at me in the hall ways she wants to get married!” If smiley was out of his mind he would lay hands on angry, but he has some self control and he loves his brother a lot so he learns to silence him out. Angry’s delusional got 1000”x worst once you guys started to date.
“Y/N, told me to pick a box up I picked it up and she said thank you, she’s clearly madly obsessed and in love with me.” Angry said with a lovesick look as a few of the other members of Toman stared at him like he nuts.
Usually his delusionals are harmless but one time they got WAY Too out of hand.
You were going to the mailbox and the way your house is positioned, the window to your room is facing the whole front yard. Angry was watching you like a hawk with love in his eyes, well the love quickly turned into sadness as he saw a man a friendly looking man approaching you.
“Hi, Mr. Ronald! Long time no see” You said as you two started talking. Mr. Ronald was your old babysitter he was always kind to you and a joy to have around. Angry wasted no time in calling his brother “bro, I think Y/N is cheating on me!!!” Angry hollered as soon as smiley picked up the phone. “What?” Smiley said in confusion anger in his voice already planning on how he was going to beat you until your face was unrecognizable.
You were making your way inside when you heard angry yelling on the phone but is ceased once he heard the front door open. “Baby, is everything ok?” You asked walking up the stairs to see him with the most hurt look ever. “You’re cheating on me, aren’t you?” He asked as you saw him fighting back tears in his eyes. “My Little cotton candy head, is this about Mr. Ronald?” You said sighing as you made sure to keep your distance since you knew his alpha came out when he crowd.
“I love you please don’t leave me for him, I-i promise I’ll change!!” He said as he ran up to you hugging you extremely tight, it felt like your lungs could burst any minute. “Angry, he’s like family to me, let me go” You groaned out trying to shove him off you as he kept sobbing about how you and your neighbor were getting married, and all types of dumb stuff. “Angry…” you said feeling life slowly getting further and
Further from you, as you heard thundering footsteps racing up the stairs.
“Woah, angry! Chill” Smiley said as he rushed over using all his strength to pull his brother from you, normally he wouldn’t interfere with stuff like this but he knew that his brother would never be the same if you died especially from his own hands. “Y/N? Honey? What have I done?!” Angry yelled out crying as he let you go watching as you gasped for air on the ground. “I’d never cheat on you angry…” you said coughing as smiley roughly patted your back as angry stared at his hands before running out wailing hysterically smiley following instantly.
Let’s just say you couldn’t bring yourself to even look at angry. Let alone speak to him after this(you guys got back together cuz you love you’re little blueberry)
Takemichi
He’s. Such. A. Crybaby
It’s like every little thing that goes slightly wrong sets him off.
You got a paper cut? He’s already crying a river. You passed a test? He’s crying while planning a special suprise for you, it’s honestly just ridiculous.
“Takemichi, why are you crying?” Mikey asked watching his friend cry while staring at his phone.
“Y-Y/N, only put one heart in her message!” He said wiping the snot off his face showing Mikey the message you sent him. ‘Have a great day I love you♥️’ the message said as Mikey stared at him in confusion.
Ngl that about it for him cause there’s really nothing wrong with him but being with a crybaby is mad toxic trust me I know😭 (I was going to make it he still clings into Hina but I passed on that cuz yeaaa)

Tumblr media
Surprisingly, a week after the incident with Sanzu drugging you to sleep, the upper echelons who loved throwing their work to you started to make their work themselves. Well, still with your help because they’re clueless as fuck as to how make a proper report. You almost wanted to tell them to fuck off and get the work done yourself but that just meant you’re okay with them dumping their work on you.
“Ran-san, that line is inappropriate.” you say for the nth time that afternoon. You’re hungry and tired and Ran decided to be a dumbass, purposely making mistakes in his report just so he could spite you with that lazy ass grin.
How badly you want to punch it off him.
“It’s my report, I will write whatever I want, doll.” you looked at him straight in the eye and,
“And your life is Mikey-san’s. If you want your cause of death to be because of a report containing inappropriate phrases, then go ahead and do so.” you deadpanned. He’ll be reporting this to Mikey and the other executives, after all.
“Touche.” he says, sighing. “Doll, can’t you just do it instead?”
“Change that line, Ran-san.” you point at his screen, ignoring his question. He groans and you smile fondly when he’s not looking.
He’s unbearable sometimes but you know he’s doing his best.
“What do you want for lunch, sir? I’ll buy it right now. It’s past lunchtime and you need to rest, too.” he looks at his watch and hums. “Let’s go have lunch, doll.” he says, standing up, not even bothering to turn off his laptop.
‘My treat.’ goes unsaid. Of course, you’ll protest when you get there but you know he’ll just use his position and label it as an order just so he could treat you.
All Bonten executives do.
“Y/N, come to my office.”
You blink at your phone screen, surprised at Kakucho’s text. He rarely texts you so you’re worried that something might have happened. Without hesitation, you bolted out your office in a hurry for your boss’ office.
“Sir, I’m here.” you announced after knocking, not even waiting for Kakucho’s response before opening the door. He’s sitting on his chair, wide eyes looking up at your dishevelled state. “Did you run?” you clear your throat, flushed in the face before fixing yourself. “I apologise for my state, sir. Did you need anything?”
You see his eyebrow rising in amusement and you want nothing more than to walk out his office, knowing he’ll say something that will make your heartbeat a little faster.
It’s not like you like him, you swear.
It’s just that…Kakucho has that charisma. An alluring one.
“Did you rush here in concern after receiving my text?” he asked, a soft smile on his lips. You bit the inside of your cheek, clearing your throat once again. “Yes, sir…I was worried because you rarely text me.” you admit and God, his balcony is open and you want to throw yourself out because of his soft laugh.
“Thank you, Y/N. And I apologise for scaring you. I just wanted help regarding this report that I’ll be giving to Kokonoi. You know, financial and stuff. You’ve been his secretary before, right? So I thought I'd get your help to fix any mistakes.”
Warmth spreads through your whole being at the thought of an executive thinking of you and your capabilities.
You knew it was what you signed up for in the first place - to help them - but it was still a good feeling for you.
“Oh, I’m glad you’re okay, Kakucho-san. And of course, please let me take a look.” you beam at him before walking towards his desk. It is then you see a box of your favourite biscuits and candies. He sees your line of sight and chuckles before pushing it towards your direction.
“A thank you gift for your help,” he says.
You gaped at him like a stupid fish before bowing, “I-it’s not needed, sir. But thank you so much!” he pats your head before you could stand straight. “Sit here, let’s start.”
Working with Kokonoi is the second most peaceful experience for you. He’s not a dumbass, not an asshole, and most importantly, he does his work right.
(Kakucho is your favourite working buddy but don’t tell the others that.)
“Kid, did you put this here?” he asked in a hushed tone, pointing inside his bag. You looked over at him, confused. Why is he asking such questions while the both of you are in the middle of an important mission?
You see a bag of candies, your favourites, inside his bag. “No, sir…Even though those are my favourites, I won’t bring them to missions.” Well, now you’re tempted to eat one but you’re literally in a life or death mission so no, you’ll maintain your professionalism and eat a bunch later when the mission’s done and you’re still alive.
“Fucking Sanzu must’ve put it.” he tsked, closing his bag before focusing on the task at hand. The both of you are currently infiltrating a secret base of an enemy and instead of being alone, Kokonoi insists on coming with you, saying you need guidance.
It’s just him being a worrywart.
“I'll be going now, sir.” you inform him when you see the enemies walking out. He grabs your wrist before you could even step away. “Kid, be careful.”
“Yes, sir.”
“I’m serious. Look at me. Be fucking careful.” you blinked at him, nodding. You’re also serious but hey, having Kokonoi worry over you is such a good feeling.
“I’ll be back as soon as possible, sir.”
True to your words, you successfully completed your mission with Kokonoi’s guidance. “Here.” he suddenly pushed a card to you.
A black card.
“Do you want me to buy something, sir?” you asked, confused as you hesitantly got hold of the card that probably holds your lifetime’s paycheck.
“I talked with someone who works at the candy factory.” he says, making you tilt your head in more confusion.
“And…?”
“Idiot, buy the whole factory! It’s your favourite candy’s factory.” as if that was the most obvious thing, he rolls his eyes at your dumbass.
But hey! It’s not everyday someone hands a black card to you and tell you to buy a fucking factory of your favourite candy!?
“S-sir, that’s–”
“An order.”
You groan, hiding your flushed face from his raised eyebrow and that smug smile on his lips. “Now get out, Sanzu will accompany you.” he pushes you out of the car and you’re wholeheartedly surprised that Sanzu is actually outside, waiting for you.
“Let’s go, kid. Gotta make sure they sell it to us.” of course he will be the one to accompany you, he’s in charge of negotiations for a reason.
“Sir, this is really too much.” you try protesting. “It was Mikey’s order.” that shuts you up, knowing you can’t go against your top boss so you walk behind Sanzu, head low, still red in the face.
You appreciate them spoiling you, really. But sometimes, it’s too much and you don’t know how to handle those kinds of things.
“Thank you…” you whispered loud enough for him to hear. He just grins and ruffles your hair. "Thank that money-greedy-white-haired-man."
Later on, you found out that it was actually Kokonoi’s idea and order, not Mikey’s.
“He wanted to treat you, what can we do? Refuse? No way, doll. You deserved it. Enjoy your candies.” Ran told you, a rare genuine and soft smile on his face as he pats your head as he leaves you to work on his report.
Oh well, might as well do their reports.
A/N; it's been a while! how's everyone? anyways, i need a kokonoi in my life please

Tokyo Revengers characters as animals 💖 (for no reason)
Kazutora: let's start with the most obvious one, our resident tiger. Which is funny considering he gives 0 tiger vibes. Or maybe rescued declawed tiger from an abusive circus. Wait a sec... Hanma and Kisaki have a circus theme going on... why did I never notice this? This starts well. Saddest tiger pic I could find
Tumblr media
Baji: A black gray wolf of course. 'nuff said
Tumblr media
Chifuyu: A cat. Kitty kitty meow meow. Not crazy enough to be orange, but he's gotta have green eyes and a kind face. This tuxedo:
Tumblr media
Koko: Talking about cats, here he is. Most obvious choice I've ever made. Black cat of course, very fancy, will knock shit off the counter and eats only the most expensive wet food
Tumblr media
Inupi: second most obvious one because you've gotta pick the race of the dog too. I say he's the only serious golden retriever you've ever seen.
Tumblr media
Takemichi: A mouse. He is squeaky and scared, looks like he eats cheese. Very cute. Big eyes.
Tumblr media
Hinata: A doe, beautiful and kind but will ram into you if you touch her loved ones
Tumblr media
Naoto: a buck because I am unoriginal. he does give off buck vibes tho
Tumblr media
Hanma: I know the official art makes him a caracal but I love being contradictory so maned wolf it is. Plus look at its long legs and creepy demeanor, it's him
Tumblr media
Kisaki: Listen, I am not the most partial person when it comes to him. He's my little meow meow, I wanna put either cat or bunny ears on him and squish his cheeks. But! Let's be honest, that boy is a snake. The deadliest snake in the world, the saw scaled viper, not the most venomous but highly aggressive. He eats mouse Takemichi for breakfast. Also look at its scales, they remind me of his adult hair.
Tumblr media
Mikey: A honey badger, small and cute but will bite your balls off and kill your family for fun.
Tumblr media
Draken: A lion, beautiful mane and a symbol of strength. Lives among a tribe of lionesses (lucky him)
Tumblr media
Mitsuya: I do not like spiders. At all. But an animal literally producing silk is the only choice for Mitsuya. However I am not masochistic so i won't put a spider image, just the web
Tumblr media
Taiju: Great white shark. Very smooth skin. Anyone who tells you they have sandpaper skin is lying.
Tumblr media
Hakkai: A seal, same eyes, same innocence, favorite prey of the great white shark
Tumblr media
Yuzuha: An orca, beautiful but deadly. Only predator of the great white shark. Also eats seals but let's not comment on that. I support women's wrongs.
Tumblr media
Pah-chin: it's too cliché to put warthog here, so i won't. He's a cane toad, one of the stupidest animal on Earth, one of their most common cause of death is eating shit they shouldn't because they stuff their mouth without thinking. They also hump anything, including dead animals from another species, and lay their eggs anywhere, which leads to a high mortality rate among their offspring. Why did I give so many facts? I don't know. Look at it.
Tumblr media
Peh-yan: A tarsier. it's the eyes.
Tumblr media
Sanzu: Arctic hare, crazy eyes and a gift for divination if you can understand his language
Tumblr media
Senju: a cutie baby. Bunny x2, will kick you.
Tumblr media
Takeomi: a rat. I am not a hater, rats can be cute, but this guy definitely gives off rat vibes
Tumblr media
Wakasa: So very pretty. White leopard of course.
Tumblr media
Benkei: A bull. I always thought his tattoos were a bull, but I was wrong I just looked it up. Still a bull.
Tumblr media
Shinichiro: This one was though, but I'd say a koala. I'm partial about it, but I feel like he would give his children poop to eat, and their reproductive habits are also not a good look on them.
Tumblr media
Emma: Japanese dwarf flying squirrel because I play favorites and that's the cutest little furball ever. it looks like it's wearing eyeliner
Tumblr media
Izana: Another small but deadly thing, the Australian box jellyfish, found notably along the coast of Malaysia (I feel so clever right now)
Tumblr media
Kakucho: Fiercely loyal dog, he's a Rottweiler. Don't tell me Izana and him don't have some kind of puppy play going on.
Tumblr media
Ran: Secretary bird. Canonically hates Kisaki which explains why he stomps snakes to death. Wears killer eyeshadow and looks like they hate your fashion style
Tumblr media
Rindou: Did you know a group of male Pacific tree frogs is called a chorus? me neither, which is why Rindou is a Pacific tree frog. Peace of music, yeah
Tumblr media
Mucho: Polar bear, cold and aggressive. Plus arctic hare and polar bear, there's a theme

Tokyo Revengers [preferences]
Type: fluff
Warnings: Male reader, G/N reader, Tall!male/GN reader, bxb, Shorter!Character, fluff.
Characters: Mitsuya Takashi, Chifuyu Matsuno, Nahoya Kawata, Souya Kawata.
Their reaction when you're taller than them. PART 2
Tumblr media
Mitsuya Takashi:
He would keep his eye on you, 'cause you look kinda dangerous in his mind.
But after you both talked with each other, he changed his thoughts about you. He even starts thinking about becoming close friends with you.
His little sisters loves you, I swear.
They always shows you their drawings (one of them even showed you and Mitsuya together as a couple, our bro almost faint from embarrasment when he saw it and your reaction👀)
You're his model. Don't you dare refuse or else Mitsuya will glare at you. (I mean, like REAL death stare 🌚)
YOU AND HIM AS A COUPLE:
He is sewing a lot of clothes for you, even if you don't ask for it. (It's a bit of showing off his territory, because he always sews his name on them)
A VERY romantic dates.
He loves to give you a welcome and goodbye kiss on the cheek, ofc, you have to bend down or else he will force you to.
I have to be honest, you don't go anywhere without a kiss, 'cause he'll not allow you.
He is kind of acting like a male wife.
Even if you're tall and strong, he makes you feel like a big teddy bear in his arms.
He isn't jealous. But can be a bit irritated when he saw another boy or girl flirt with you, even if he knows that you're loyal to him.
He calls you: Babe and honey (ya, literally male wife-👀)
Tumblr media
Chifuyu Matsuno:
He would not trust you at all.
When he was alone or near you, he gave you a big side eye.
He started to become softer to you, when you found his cat who ran away from his home.
After a few months, he catch a love feeling. He wasn't happy at all about it, 'cause he thought it is wrong to love a boy.
He was blushing around you when you weren't looking.
YOU AND HIM AS A COUPLE:
He loves when you give him a piggyback ride.
He hugs you when he's feeling cold or just clingy.
Park dates ✅️
He is a bit shy to kiss you first, so you have to take the initiative.
Scene: "Come on, fuyu. Just a one kiss." You said. Chifuyu was already as red as tomato, as he looks away from you. "Umm.... I don't know." He said quietly and hesitately. "Pleaseee?" Your begging tone made him change his mind, so he nodded and close his eyes tightly before letting you kiss him gently on the lips.
He calls you: M/N-San, love.
Tumblr media
Nahoya Kawata:
You got punched by him, because he wanted to test your might. 💀
When he lost, he was pissed off but at the same time amused by your appearance.
Bro changed his sexuality in a moment.
Everytime he saw you, he punch you just to see you angry. (Idk why, bro.)
After a......attention, attention, my children. A WHOLE WEEK, he asked you out. Bro didn't waste any time to steal your heart.
YOU AND HIM AS A COUPLE:
He is a "little" bit possesive.
When he saw another boy just looking at you, he starts beating him up.
He jumps on your back everytime he sees you, just to give you a hug and soft kiss on the cheek. (He will not get down that easily, even if you want him to do so.)
He will cook for you, his brother and himself delicious ramen.
Souya and you become friends.
Movie nights and dates.
He calls you: Bae, Handsome (cringe, I know.)
Tumblr media
Souya Kawata:
He didn't show much near you.
But he was curious about you and your personality.
To be honest, you both become friends very fast. You didn't even know when lol.
You and him likes to talk about random things, even about a damn tree. That's it.
YOU AND HIM AS A COUPLE:
He hold your hands all the time.
Very shy sometimes.
He loves when you have to bend down to kiss his forehead.
He have fluffy hair like his brother. (Very good thing to let your stress out.)
He sometimes fells asleep on your lap.
Park dates.
He calls you: M/N or just simply sweetheart.

Why does Shirley have to die?
Tumblr media
One of the most frequent comments I found while browsing when I entered this fandom and it bothered me greatly was that Shirley's death was useless, which reflected a lack of understanding of the series and the character of Shirley and her relationship with Lelouch and Suzaku. So today I'll explain what the effects of Shirley's murder were.
Broadly speaking, Shirley's murder serves as a catalyst between the first and second half of the second season. Likewise, Shirley's sad murder resonates with the main theme of the series and influences the narrative arcs of Lelouch and Suzaku.
Tumblr media
1. Shirley's death was what pushed Lelouch to change his plans for the Geass Cult. Instead of controlling the orphans who had been turned into Geass users, Lelouch decided to destroy the Geass Cult by decimating the children and scientists who participated in the project by organizing a clandestine operation with the Black Knights.
Tumblr media
1.1. This operation will later become one of the reasons why the Black Knights will betray Lelouch. It's information that is leaked to Asahina, a member of the Four Holy Swords, and reaches through him Tohdoh, who, together with Ohgi, were the ones who convinced the rest of the Black Knights that they were angry with Zero for abandoning them in the middle of the takeove of the Tokyo Settlement. So the massacre of the Geass Cult influenced the betrayal of Tohdoh, one of the pillars in the Order of the Black Knights and most loyal to their leader.
Tumblr media
1.2. Additionally, the Black Knights' attack on the Geass Cult resulted in the death of V.V. and attracted the Emperor who took the code from V.V. and then attempted to initiate the Ragnarök Connection in episode 15, but C.C. prevented this by sealing her code and suppressing her memories. Something that will influence Lelouch's isolation. Also, in the massacre of the Geass Cult, Lelouch captured Cornelia, which will be important in the future.
Tumblr media
2. Shirley's death was what pushed Suzaku over the edge and motivated him to coerce Kallen through refrain to get confirmation that Zero was behind her murder. About to do so, Suzaku realized that he was about to become completely corrupted and begins to rethink his beliefs and methods for the first time. It's because of this incident with Kallen that Suzaku is willing to reunite with Lelouch and team up with him, even if it means abandoning Britannia. But, well, Schneizel ambushes the two former friends and makes Lelouch believe that Suzaku betrayed him once again. Consequently, Lelouch is determined to kill Suzaku in revenge, but it turns out badly due to the cursed order he gave him long ago and which causes the total annihilation of the Tokyo Settlement, something that will mark a turning point in Suzaku's narrative arc and It will also affect Lelouch...
Tumblr media
3. Shirley's death was a turning point in Lelouch and Rolo's relationship. It was a relationship in which love and hate were quite balanced, but, after this event, Lelouch leaned towards hate. I'll talk more about this point in my analysis of Rolo's motivations for killing Shirley, so that's all I'll say for now. I'll add that, if Mao made him realize that Geass can corrupt the user and Euphemia's death made Lelouch realize that Geass is an evil power, Shirley's death made Lelouch realize that Geass will condemn him to isolation (damn, Lelouch saw a lot of red flags and kept going; I don't know whether to call it idiocy or determination). At the same time, he realized how terrible the power of Geass is in the hands of a child and became terrified that all Geass users were like Rolo, which is why he thinks it is better to eradicate the Geass Cult and not control them.
Tumblr media
4. Shirley's death is linked to the main theme of the series (will) and, in a certain way, influenced the epiphany that Lelouch will have in the final stretch of the series. Rolo didn't get into a vehicle, he drove to Shirley's house and got out to shoot her. No. Shirley was murdered, following her will. She abandoned the security force that was guarding her because she wanted to offer her help to Lelouch. To paraphrase Lelouch's words to Schneizel in the series' penultimate episode, people are actively seeking happiness, and for Shirley, her happiness was with Lelouch. Even though Lelouch erases her memory over and over again to protect her, Shirley will always do what her will dictates, and that includes falling in love with him again. Shirley's firm resolve, added to that of other characters, is what teaches Lelouch to value human beings' will and constant pursuit of happiness.
Tumblr media
In short, Shirley's death is what leads to most of the events that occur in the second part of R2. Without that, the Zero Requiem doesn't even take place. For all this, it is ridiculous that the alternate universe continues with the same events as the canonical universe, but, well, nothing makes sense in the alternate universe (hence it is complete garbage and I'll maintain this statement until the last day of my existence.)
Having said that. If anyone still wants to be angry about Shirley's death, they have to change their focus on her. The point isn't that Shirley's murder adds nothing to the plot (we already saw that it isn't true); but this seems to show that Shirley is a "woman in refrigerator." This is a term coined by Gail Simone to refer to female characters who face disproportionate harm, which will serve as a plot device to motivate male characters. The term was used to talk about situations in Western comics, but can be extrapolated to other media. Is Shirley a "woman in refrigerator"? I would say yes, but I think that term should be applied when there are female characters who have great potential and the authors don't exploit it, but rather prefer to reduce them to a motivation for the current male hero. And Shirley is not Kallen (an action heroine and Knightmare pilot, whose talent and skill can change the flow of a battle), she is not C.C. (an Immortal Witch who knows all the secrets of Geass and is clandestinely working with our protagonist's worst enemy for her own interests), she is not Euphemia (a princess in the Holy Empire of Britannia who can challenge the status quo and change the system from the inside), she is not Nina (a prodigy in science, capable of creating a weapon of mass destruction). She's only Shirley. An innocent civilian trapped in a bloody war. She cannot contribute more than she can, so let's not ask for pears from the elm.
I really wanted to write this analysis! I just removed a thorn that was stuck. I feel better.

Another Beautiful Day (First Years x Yuu)
Tumblr media
(gif taken from google, originally uploaded to tumblr but user apparently deleted)
You have been having strange dreams lately. Every time you go to sleep you se the same set of flashing images, a carriage ride, a crumbling castle under a ink stained sky, ending in the jaws of a monster. The pain you feel from the flames makes you wonder, on nights when you are alone in Ramshackle with Grim, if those dreams are less fiction and more of a memory.
You are not the only one who has those dreams. There's another, laying awake in his bed, hand clutched tightly over his frantically beating heart trying desperately to hold the fraying edges of his sanity together. How many times has he done this? How many times has he tried to hold onto the last fleeting traces of warmth in you with his cold, unworthy hands.
Again. He loves you, that is the one thing that refuses to change no matter how many times the world is reset. He loves you, he has no choice but to try again.
notes: they/them pronouns used for Yuu, hurt almost no comfort, borderline yandere behavior. If this made you feel something you can check out the other parts on my masterlist.
Tumblr media
Ace
There was, perhaps still is, a pretty viral theory about Ace being a traitor involved in resetting time. While I can't ever see Ace purposefully causing Yuu's death ever, I can see him deciding that if he has to play the villain to get the outcome that he wants, well then, that's just what he's going to have to do. Ace knows how to annoy people, comes with the youngest child territory, more specifically he knows how to annoy you. He can stand having no one if it means everyone's focus is on keeping you safe, it's easier to admit that he loves you when no one's around to hear it. It occurs to you that he might, it even crosses your mind that the strange dreams your time-loop troubled subconscious is so desperate to hang onto, ones where you are with someone you love dearly, could be about him. How else would he know how to push all your buttons, why else does he always know when and where you'll be in trouble. If Ace doesn't love you, why does he know all the things you like about this world before you do? It's a painful thing to be known, even more so if the person who knows you refuses to let themselves be vulnerable with you. The more things change the more they stay the same... huh?
Deuce
Ever watched Tokyo Revenges? I know some of you have, I can see you. Anyway Deuce might not be a crybaby but he is loyal, determined, and stuck on desperately trying to save you. Well not just you, Deuce realizes that Overblot Grim spells doom for a lot more people that just those inside NRC. Sage's island might be remote, but people still live there, if the monster got out who knows what sort of damage it will do? He tries his best to be normal around you, to befriend you and protect you in just the same way he did before, but he's a much more serious and moody person than he was the first loop around. How is he supposed to explain to you he couldn't save you, that he's watched you die countless times and only had ashes to hold and cry over? Not just you either, he's seen Ace and Epel and Jack, hell even Sebek, Die over and over again because he wasn't smart enough to stop it. Ace manages to pick up on something being wrong, and Deuce being Deuce he fails to lie properly, "dragging him into his mess." But he can tell Ace doesn't mind. He takes his impending doom as a challenge, encouraging Deuce to do so as well. He's stupid, he should just give up and let someone smarter save you. But he's your stupid, kind of crybaby hero. He'll save you, just you see.
Jack
Trying to save you is as much an instinct to Jack as it is raw emotion. You are his soulmate, there is nothing casual about his investment in your relationship, nothing short of divine intervention that will keep him from trying to save you. But he will admit he feels rather unprepared for this... development. It's all well and good to say you will break reality before he lets it take you from him, but actually being strong enough to do that? Jack's a good boy, but no matter how smart he is he's a bit of a muscle head. He throws himself into problems fist first, without any back up unless someone yanks him by the scruff and forces him to look at it. Usually that's you, sometimes it's Ruggie or Leona, but in the past it was you. He knows he can't keep himself from you, even if that could make you safer. Unlike the first timeline, he makes sure to introduce himself as early as possible, makes sure to be with you for every overblot. You might find it annoying but he'll push you to train just enough so that you'll have the speed to run when the final monster comes. Maybe this time, he'll be strong enough to kill it before it catches up to you.
Epel
Sleep Kiss cannot put you to sleep forever. Yet. Yes yet, Malleus isn't the only one who thinks letting you nap forever is a good idea. Great minds think alike, and unlike Malleus's, Epel has an added bonus. He can encase you in a glass cage that is literally meant to protect you from anything that wants to hurt you. Not that you would ever expect this plan from Epel. He's cute, kind, non-threatening when you're paying attention, the most you see of his temper as the loops continue is the slightly bratty glare he focuses on pre-overblot housewardens. And the headmage, but hey any anger at him always gets a pass from him. Not that you need to worry about that, once Epel masters his spell you won't have to worry about anything. He does wonder if you'll be able to dream, the first time he cast his spell on you it was like you didn't realize anything had happened at all. Maybe he won't tell you anything, maybe he'll wake you up every once and a while to convince you that you were never asleep at all. But that's not a concern for now, all you need to do is close your eyes and sleep. Sleep and wait for your Prince to return from the war.
Sebek
Following the current timeline, events aside, Sebek is on the outside of your friend group. No one likes him, he can't sit with you. The only real reason Sebek has to pay attention to you is because Malleus does. And he has to admit he doesn't exactly hate what he sees, he just- doesn't want to give credit to a human. When time is re-set though, he goes out of his way to befriend you, convinced he needs to keep an eye on you to save his lord. After all, how could he not find it suspicious that Malleus befriends some random human from not-Twisted Wonderland and then suddenly overblots? He is ready to strike at the first sign of betrayal, but he does not find it. He finds a human, weak and flawed, but paitent and kind with him, unwilling to let him talk down to them but still willing to talk. You die, but you never stop trying. You refuse to let the flaws he picks at stop you from trying to live. You refuse, no matter how many times he yells about the amount of times he has lost his lord, lost you, to let him do all the work alone. There is beauty in your struggle, in your life. He can't betray this for his lord, even if it was the cause of his plight. It's Silver he turns to for help, begging him for guidance through tears as he desperately clings to you. He finds it of course, he never had to do any of this alone, but he should know by now that doesn't guarantee success, no matter how much he wants it to.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you have a blank blog [no bio, no user, no header or profile pic, nothing reblogged, etc] do not interact with my content. you will be blocked. Keep reading
Sweat drips down your forehead as you reshelve the food you’d been asked to. Taking a deep breath, you peek at the clock — only three more hours until closing. You closed early today, of course.
When the clock struck seven today, the world would no longer be safe.
The door opens with a ding, causing you to stop what you were doing and welcome the customer in. It was a group, all casually chatting while looking for snacks. You stand straight and prepare to greet them — your voice catches in your throat. Something about the last person seems so familiar ; so welcoming to you.
A girl with orange hair spots you and turns your way. “You work here, right?” You nod, peeling your eyes away from the red coat and shoulder length hair. She grins, “great! Can you guide me to the chocolate aisle?”
At her words, the rest of the group turns to face you. You lead the way, showing her your preferred sweets and answering questions with a practiced smile. The group disperses, leaving to do their own thing. That comforting, familiar face is standing in front of you now, waiting for your attention to be solely on him.
“Suzaki,” you say. “Suzaki Ryo. You’re back.”
His dull, unchanging face contorts into a soft smile at your words. Eyes travel down your tired, overworked form — you adjust and clear your throat in embarrassment. His smile falls, “are you alright, [name]?”
Words leave your mind at the sound of his voice. It’d been so long — so many years had passed since you last heard his voice. He calls your name once more, eyes drooping into a worried gaze. You shift on your feet, “um, I’m okay. Everyone’s preparing for tonight, you know?”
“Tonight?” Ryo tilts his head before nodding slowly. “The Purge they call it, right?” You nod, fingers intertwining and locking your mind onto something else. He smiles at your habit, remembering the times before when you’d act that way, too. “You’ll be safe tonight, won’t you?”
“I’ll be with Peach,” you admit. Your nose crinkles in distaste before you smooth your face out, plastering on your customer service smile instead. “I think we’re staying with Amagi this year. You still talk, right? You’ll be there?”
Ryo’s eyes narrow at the names. Peach — your old friend who would always take advantage of you. Amagi — his old friend who used him tirelessly. They were quite the match ; Suzaki’s beyond surprised it took them this long to get together. “Sure,” he hides his thoughts with a smile, “I’ll be there.”
Your conversation is interrupted by his group as they push their way between you. One guy with blue highlights shoves you to the side thoughtlessly — you don’t see the glare Ryo sends his way. Clearing your throat again, you lead them to the register to check them out.
Ryo lingers outside as his friends leave, his eyes watching as you get back to work quickly. Calloused, blistered hands scrub at the counter endlessly before you’re quickly sweeping the floor. You go to clean the window when you meet his gaze — Ryo only waves before turning to leave.
Poor thing, he thinks to himself. You’re working yourself to the bone just to survive. Not anymore, he reassures himself. You won’t have to tire yourself out anymore. I’ll take care of you.
——♥︎——
Shoveling pieces of clothing into your overnight bag, you think back to earlier, when Ryo walked into the convenience store. Seeing him again was strange ; exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Last you heard, Ryo and his dad moved overseas for better opportunities.
That wasn’t true. His father worked himself to death, so Ryo ran. It was no coincidence he popped back up on Purge day.
You knew Amagi and Peach would have all anyone would need in their mansion. However, the thought of using their things and therefore owing them— it made you nauseous.
Taking a deep breath, you mentally prepare yourself. You’d be surrounded by rich, entitled assholes for twelve ongoing hours while trusting their security system would keep you safe. At one point, they would irritate you so bad that you’d want to take your chance with the streets.
Suzaki will be there, you remind yourself. If Suzaki is there, I won’t be alone.
——♥︎——
The Amagi mansion greets you, hiding in the woods just out of reach of the street. Cars are empty from the road, hidden in garages and who knows where else for the upcoming night. It’s almost seven, so you need to rush ; need to hurry inside before the door is locked for good. Peach’s laughter echoes onto the street — you grimace and force yourself to step inside.
“COMMENCING THE SIREN, ANY AND ALL CRIME, INCLUDING MURDER, WILL BE LEGAL FOR TWELVE CONTINUOUS HOURS.”
Sirens hit the empty street, the world pausing as people prepare for the worst. You swallow, ignoring the champagne that was offered to you. Even with laws intact, you’d refuse any drink coming from this group.
“How dull,” a voice interrupts the silence. Amagi leans forward on his lavish sofa, watching the wall of monitors he had installed. “No one’s screaming yet. Did they not hear the announcement?”
Another reason you didn’t want to stay here — the Purge was used for their own amusement. While the group you were in would never dare to participate — they wouldn’t survive — watching others slaughter each other was their monthly entertainment.
Peach sighs, “the hour just started, honey. It might take a while.” She rubs his shoulder, leaning her lips close to her ear to whisper to him. You can see her tongue peak out and lap against his ear — you hold back the urge to gag and look away in disgust.
Ryo is absent from the house — he’s not coming, you discover. He hadn’t shown up at all ; no one mentioned him coming by. It makes you uncomfortable ; makes your throat itch at the thought of them possibly leaving him on the streets to die.
You glance at Amagi’s sleazy grin as Peach rubs the inside of his thigh. “I saw Suzaki today. Did you know he was back?”
“That loser really came back?” Amagi all but shoves Peach away, murky eyes staring into yours. A snarl curls his lips as they tremble — with laughter or anger, you don’t know. “Pathetic. Thought he’d die off by now.”
You always wondered what happened between them. Up until high school, Ryo would follow Amagi endlessly. And then, one day, he was gone. Amagi would only spit out how much he hated the boy ; how he wished a miserable and lifeless future for his former friend. He never told Peach — even with the endless nights between them both.
Back then, Ryo came to say goodbye to you. He looked exhausted, bags puffed under his eyes and his nails chewed down to the cuticle. A gash was wrapped around his wrist — you cleaned it as his puppy eyes stared at you.
“You’re leaving.”
“I need to,” Ryo says. His voice is soft ; throaty as if he’d been screaming for hours. He closes his hand into a fist, flexing and moving his fingers to see how injured his wrist was. His gaze meets yours, “I’ll be back.”
One of Peach’s friends offers you a drink, bringing you back to reality again. You take it, just so they would stop shoving it your way. You wouldn’t take even a tiny sip, instead pouring small amounts into someone else’s glass.
Amagi’s gaze is still on you — you can feel his eyes burning into your skin as Peach tries to distract him. You watch a monitor mindlessly, sweeping across the silent and desolate street. Sighing, you tuck your chin into the palm of your hand.
You’d love to do anything else ; to be anywhere else.
“You look tense, [name].” Amagi speaks up. His tone is intense, cruel intentions crawling from darkened eyes. He grins, ignoring the kisses that Peach settles on his neck. “Want someone to help you relax? You can have more than one, if you want.”
At his words, his friends cheer joyfully. One starts thrusting into the air, hooting with laughter. Another winks your way as she lowers her shirt to further show her cleavage. Your arm is tugged harshly to the right, your back hitting the couch as the back of your shirt is grabbed. Peach watches on boredly — your friend wouldn’t dare speak up against her fiance.
It wouldn’t matter if you said no. Especially not tonight, but not any other night, either.
Movement on a top monitor catches your attention. A figure is stumbling, almost to a crawl as they enter the street. You squint, moving from the unwanted touches and closer to the screen. Your mouth falls into a gasp, “Ryo?”
The red jacket on his shoulders is bright in the streetlights, beckoning any attacker to come closer. He leaves a trail of darkened splotches behind on the concrete, a puddle forming where he collapses. Amagi sits up at the name, inching closer to the screen. Pressing a button or two, he maximizes the video Ryo stars in. A malicious, evil grin spreads onto his face.
“Finally,” Amagi laughs, “he’ll die like the dog he is. In the streets, covered in his own shit.”
You gulp at his words. Amagi wasn’t going to offer refuge ; he wasn’t going to allow Ryo into his home and keep him safe. Your gaze bounces to Peach — she’s dropped to her knees in front of him, begging for his attention. He just watches the screen giddily.
The people around you wouldn’t help, either. They wouldn’t dare to go against Amagi’s orders — not for a flea like Suzaki Ryo. Not for his childhood friend that left. Someone is still vying for your affections, the type Amagi offered for you, as they rub themselves on you.
You take in a deep breath, focusing on the screen where Ryo lays on the street. The room goes silent, your ears ringing as you watch him writhe in pain. Everything vanishes — you could do something. You could save him. He promised to come back, and he did.
Sound comes back in a rush, laughter and moans heating up the room around you.
Quickly, you stand and leave the couch — you leave the room and hear no complaints for your actions. Your shoes are taken off and placed to the side — your footsteps would be silent, and no one would be able to find you now. Hastened steps patter their way to the front door ; up from the safe room in the basement, past Amagi’s self portrait, to the right of the kitchen. Shaky hands unlock the front door as fast as they can.
Cold air whips into your face. You breathe in the freshness of it ; you bask in the sound of crickets and the absence of sound. You look around warily — there’s no one around except a whimpering, wounded Suzaki Ryo.
“Come on,” you call to him quietly. You sling his arm around your shoulder and assist him to hobble into the house. Right on the threshold, you can see Amagi snarling as he rushes the door to close and lock. To no avail — you pull Ryo in with you just in time. You set him against a wall, right under the window. “Made it.”
“What the fuck,” Peach hisses. She stands in front of her friends — the richer ones, the ones she deemed valuable — shielding them from the man you brought in. “Do you realize what you just did? Why did you bring in a flea?”
“It’s Suzaki,” you breathe, “we know him.”
Amagi stands over his former friend, staring down at him emotionlessly. His face is devoid of anything — even the usual hatred he doesn’t hide. He tilts his head, “what a pity. Would’ve been nice to watch someone slit his throat.”
They all leave without another word, sending glares your way. The basement’s safe room is locked ; they make it known that you’ve been locked out and uninvited.
Suzaki wheezes out from the floor, “sorry. Didn’t mean to mess things up for you.”
“Don’t even worry about it.” You crouch to help him stand, guiding to one of the bathrooms in the house. Settling him on the closed toilet lid carefully, you take in a breath. “Let’s get you cleaned up and brand new, hm?”
Delicately, you take Ryo’s shirt off ; pull his tanktop up and over his head, careful to not disturb the gash across his torso. He stares at you, eyes sparkling and wide as you grab peroxide and antibacterial gel.
“It’s not too deep,” you speak up. You can hear the group below, their insults and joy vibrating against the walls. “No stitches needed. Good thing — I can’t sew.”
A smile lifts up the right side of Ryo’s mouth. You clean his wound gently, a soaked cotton ball swiping any germ or blobs of blood away. As you apply the gel, your tongue pokes out slightly. Ryo watches you fondly, “this reminds me of when we were in school.”
You smirk, “what, when I’d save your ass a trip to the hospital?”
He laughs — you try not to watch his chest as he does. Grabbing gauze, you wrap it around his torso a few times ; not too tight, but not too loose. Ryo’s eyes stay on you as you move. “You would always take care of me. Even when your friends were worse than mine.”
“We’d look out for each other.” You correct him. You shuffle his tank top back down his body, sitting in silence as you avoid his gaze. “That’s what people like us do.”
Ryo slumps in his seat, his voice growing quiet. “People like us?”
You smile, but it isn’t warm or happy. It’s accepting — sad and empty. “People who have to work to survive.”
A rattle shakes the house — you and Ryo simply stare at each other before you make a move. Peach is coming up the stairs as you exit the bathroom, your face mirroring the confusion on hers. Another rattle — the front door is shaking.
“Yoo-hoo!” A voice sings teasingly. Ryo makes his way to you, his jacket slung precariously over his shoulders as he holds his torso with his right arm. Amagi is spitting orders in the basement — he sounds terrified. “We know you’re in there. Come out and play.”
Silence. And then, a bang against the front door as a new voice calls out. “Come outside, rich bitch!”
Tensely, you reach behind you and grab Suzaki’s hand. Stomping is heard on the stairs as Amagi guides his friends to the front door. His eyes are on fire as you pass by him, red-tinted and furious. He glares at the man behind you, “this better not have anything to do with you.”
You let out a breath as you push Ryo to the safe room, eyes dancing from screen to screen. A face pops out of nowhere — one covered in a Ghostface mask. You jump, bumping into Ryo as you do. You look at him from over your shoulder, “they didn’t attack you, did they?”
“No,” he shakes his head. “I wasn’t attacked by anyone. I was… trying to get between an unfair fight.”
You smile despite the situation. “Playing the hero as always.”
“People need to be protected,” he replies simply. Ryo walks over to the wall of monitors, clicking and scrolling expertly. Though, growing up with Amagi probably taught him everything he needed to know. More people are found around the Amagi mansion, waiting for a door to unlock. Ryo’s voice carries into the air, “people like you.”
You blink, “like me?”
Ryo’s mouth tilts as he looks down at the monitors’ control center. He lets out a laugh through his nose before his eyes meet yours. “People who are soft ; kind.” Ryo looks down again, “you’re the one I want to protect the most. You were always my favorite, you know.”
A bang hits the house once more, Peach’s scream echoing with it. You can hear one of her friends insist they just go outside and start shooting — they should just get rid of the strangers while they can. A flurry of footsteps rebounds against the stairs, hurriedly burrowing your way. Ryo takes you into his arms quickly, moving you both out of the way.
“I’ll show them,” he mutters. It’s one of Amagi’s friends — one who tried to get you alone. His eyes are frantic, spit piling at the corner of his mouth as he speaks to himself. “I’ll go out there and tear them all down. Amagi will notice me, then.”
The house’s defenses are down before you can stop him.
Amagi flies down the stairs, trying frantically to get the security systems back up. He clicks every button he sees. The house goes silent as the walls whir, the defenses going back into place. It has to be enough, you bite your lip, hand intertwined with Ryo’s as you tighten your hold. Please, let us be safe.
A window upstairs shatters, high-pitched screaming mirroring the sound.
The sound of scraping is the first thing you pick up. The safe room’s door is closed and locked tight, ensuring your safety. You don’t feel safe, though. Everyone watches in silence as the door’s handle twists left then right. You gulp, hiding the shaking of your hand by holding tighter onto Suzaki’s.
A bang hits the door, causing everyone to jump in unison. A harrowing, mean cackle breaths against the door. “I know you’re in there,” they call, “let us in so we can play.”
“Fuck off!” Amagi’s friend calls out arrogantly. Amagi rushes to the man, holding his hand against his mouth tightly. There are tears in the bully’s eyes — he has no chance if the safe room is breached. His friend fights him until he’s free to speak, “we’ll kill you be—!”
A body falls to the floor. A girl with lilac hair trembles, champagne falling down her arm as the bottle she holds is in half. The man on the floor bleeds from his head — you don’t think he’ll make it. She drops the half-empty bottle, scurrying to wipe the alcohol off of her person.
The masked person outside cackles again, “attacking each other now? Let us join in, won’t you?”
Ryo’s thumb rubs against your knuckles and it’s all you can think of. He does well ; distracting you from the dire danger in front of you. But, you can’t help but also think he’s so calm ; so collected and uncaring at the threats that surround you.
Scratching is heard, the door jolting from the impact. The person outside cackles, drops of sweat fall from Amagi’s forehead. A thump against the door again — you think it’s coming off its hinges. Ryo’s shoulder bumps into yours as you back up, the sound of the door breaking disturbing the silence around you. The splintered pieces hit the floor, collecting around two pairs of boots.
A bloody, rabbit mask and orange hair greets you — another one a Jason-inspired mask doing little to hide blue hair. The rabbit giggles, swinging the axe in hand, “you’ll play with us now, right?”
Two more figures join them but your mind is so fogged from the panic. Ryo is speaking lowly in your ear, but you can’t make sense of anything he says. The girl from before is thrown to the floor, a doll-like mask hovering above her as she’s stabbed. The Jason mask creeps closer to you — he’s got you in his sights and he’s completely locked in.
A kick his sent to the masked man’s chest, sending him flying away as Ryo stands in front of you. He grabs a cheese knife from the center table, putting it in your hand. Your back is to the wall, allowing you to see every inch of the safe room.
Blood splatters as Ryo nails punch after punch onto the blue haired stranger. It’s a sickening, intense anger you’d never seen from him before. Your hands shake as you hold tightly onto the cheese knife, unable to look away from the violence in front of you. Ryo looks over his shoulder at you, blood on his forehead and nose as he stands.
The wound on his torso seems to no longer bother him.
Ryo is quick to pull you to a room, closing the door behind you both as you hold your breath. It’s a bathroom, you see, perfectly compact and hidden. Chaos reigns outside — you flinch as you identify Peach’s cries. A shaky hand cups your cheek, blood smearing as he rubs your skin soothingly. “Stay here,” Ryo pleads,”I’ll come get you when it’s safe.”
He strokes your cheek one last time before a glass is shoved in your hand. “Sip on this until I come back.” Ryo holds your hand, gaze fierce and promising, “I will come back, [name]. Stay in here.”
The door is shut and you’re left with the muffled sound of the people you were with being murdered. The handle of the knife you hold is embedded into your skin, the intricate design imprinted onto your palm. Heaving breaths escaped your chest and you know you need to calm down or you’ll pass out.
You eye the water you’re holding, champagne taste staining the flute you sip on. Panic has really set in now, the room around you blurring together into nothing but colors. Trembling legs settle onto the floor, your back to the bathtub as your eyes slide shut.
——♥︎——
“[Name],” is called lightly, a rustle on your shoulder shaking you. “C’mon, angel, it’s time to go.”
Your eyes blink open — they’re heavy, bleary as your eyesight still has to settle. You breathe deeply through your nose — it smells like iron and sweat. An alarm rings, commencing the Purge and thanking everyone for participating.
Your eyes snap back open at the words. You weren’t safe ; the security was fought through and intruders welcomed themselves in. Ryo — Ryo went out to fight. And then, nothing. You fell asleep?
The floor beneath you is wet, your fingers pruning up from the water. Another gentle jostle to your shoulder — someone was here with you. Widened, unseeing eyes blink up at him and he coos.
“[Name],” Ryo calls again. He rubs your cheek lovingly as your eyes flutter shut once more. He sighs — it was too much on your body, after all. Slowly, he wraps your legs around his waist, standing easily and taking you with him as he goes. “Keep your eyes closed, honey. You don’t need to see this.”
Suzaki speaks to someone else as your eyes flutter open and closed periodically. You can’t stay awake — what was in that water? Your mouth moves against his neck, incomprehensible mutters and noises leaving your lips. You hear him kick something on the way out and spit out something you don’t hear.
As you leave, you notice the bloody mess is wearing Amagi’s clothes.
“Welcome back.”
You feel better now ; awake and attentive as your eyes slide open. The sun is in the middle of the sky, warming up the room you’re in. Suzaki sits on the edge of the bed you’re in, clean and grinning as he rubs your legs soothingly. “About time you woke up, huh?”
The last few hours come back to you in a movie-like sequence. The screaming, the door shattering, the blood. You gulp, “what… happened? At Amagi’s?”
Ryo let’s out a sigh, shaking his head. He squeezes your knee lightly, sucking in a breath between his teeth. “It was ugly — an all out brawl. But, we survived and you came out unscathed. That’s all we need to worry about.”
But, your mind stills races. You remember seeing Amagi — seeing what should’ve been his fully intact corpse in pieces. “Peach? And Amagi? Did… anyone else live?”
“I don’t know,” he looks to the bedroom wall. His voice is uncaring ; unsympathetic as he speaks. “All I was worried about was protecting you.”
“You did.” You sit up straighter now, reaching out to hold Ryo’s hand. “You saved us — saved me.”
The room goes silent as you bask in the warmth of the sun. It’s disorienting — the world being so warm after the bloodbath of last night. Ryo speaks quietly, “I’d do it again if I needed to.”
The side of his mouth curves up as he continues, “maybe even after that.”

“...I’ll make you understand. Because I’m the only one who can!”
-Tokyo Ghoul Volume 3 #025 Epiphany by Sui Ishida

——————————
Hide brought me to Anteiku but left only a short time after cause he was initially on his way to a meeting for the festival. Koma was the one at the bar today, and when he saw that I was injured, he quickly wrapped my arm around his shoulder and supported my weight as we went upstairs. The former Devil Ape laid me on my bed and promptly left to get supplies. When he returned, he had a package of meat for me to eat and some bandages for my wound. I gratefully accepted the meat and devoured the whole package while he tended to the gash on my back.
“Thank you, Koma. You didn’t have to do this for me.” I looked over at him, seeing his face scrunched down in concentration.
“You’re welcome, kid, but if you don’t mind me asking, how did this happen?” The pompadour man looked at me with concern.
A sigh escaped my lips as I wondered if I should tell him what happened or play stupid. I don’t want Touka to get in trouble; she’s already mad enough at me. I wonder if the plum-haired girl has returned or is still searching for revenge. “Koma,” I look at the male, “Have you seen Touka?”
Koma’s head cocked sideways as he stared at me with curiosity, “She’s in her room.”
“Perfect,” I drag my body off the bed, heading out into the hall and towards Touka’s room. The wound on my back was still somewhat deep, but after eating, my regenerative abilities started to kick in, and I could feel the skin slowly heal itself from the inside. As I stood before Touka’s door, an anxious tingle ruptured through my body, and I took a deep, shaky breath to calm my nerves. The plum-haired girl might hate me after what I did, and the thought of having the girl I see as my little sister not wanting anything to do with me makes me terrified. But I had to do what I did. My fingers wrapped around the doorknob, and I twisted it before pushing the door open.
“Touka?” My voice came out softly as I called out to her. I peeked around the door, looking into the younger girl’s room, and saw Touka huddled on her bed. A deep sigh left my lips as I pushed the door open more and made my way in front of the angsty female.
“I know you hate me right now, but I couldn’t let you do something you would regret.” My (e/c) eyes drifted over Toukas body; her back was leaned against the wall, and her knees were drawn up to her chest. Touka had her amethyst-colored eyes buried into her arms that rested on her knees. I just wanted to reach out and pull her into a hug, but I knew her boundaries; I would be crossing them if I did that. The plum-haired girl just sat on her bed with no movement, no sound, and it broke my heart more than if she were to yell at me. Touka lifted her head, and as she looked into my eyes, all I could see was the rage that encompassed her.
“How dare you stop me.” Touka spat out, “Hinami deserves someone to stand up for her! For Ryoko!”
I stare back into the young girl’s eyes and try to get her to see the seriousness in my eyes. “They wouldn’t want you to do that for them. Hinami needs someone to be with her, to love her, and to help her as she grieves. The last thing she needs is you getting in trouble, injured, or worse—killed. All because you were trying to ‘stand up’ for her. And you know going out and killing someone is the last thing Ryoko would want you to do.”
“Whatever… Just leave.” Touka sighed out. I knew there wasn’t more I could say to change her mind, so I did as she asked and left her room. After some time, I knew Touka would be okay, and she’d come to me when she was ready.
I went underground instead of returning to my room, knowing Yomo would be doing his daily training. The one thing I always admired about my guardian is that he never misses a training day. Yomo strives to be one of the strongest and is determined to protect those around him. Not only did he take care of me, but he also took care of Touka and Ayato for a while. When Hikari, Yomo’s sister, passed away, it was hard on him, and then when Arata, Touka, and Ayato’s dad got killed by the CCG, Yomo took them in as well. But those two ended up going on their own at some point.
As I entered the underground, I walked toward Yomo and leaned against one of the pillars. I crossed my arms and watched the silver-haired man as he practiced. His movements were fluid and sharp, and you could see his pure strength oozing off his body. My eyes watched Yomo intensely for a few minutes before he finally paused. The silver-haired man walked toward me, picked up his water bottle, and chugged over half of it in a few seconds.
“What are you doing down here?” Yomo asked. His chest heaves up and down as his body calms down from the high of training.
“I want to get stronger,” I say while throwing a towel at Yomo. The older man caught the towel and started wiping the sweat off his face. “Will you train with me again?”
——————————
A week has passed, and I’ve spent every night underground with Yomo. He’s started by brushing up on my old skills, and I guess I’m more out of shape than I thought. I used to be able to land decent hits on Renji, but now I can’t even touch him. He’s gotten stronger over the years, and I’ve let myself weaken. At the end of our training session tonight, I fell to the ground and spread my limbs. My chest heaves up and down as I catch my breath from our intense battle. I have scratches littering all over my skin, but they’re nowhere as deep as I know Yomo could do. He’s been holding back on me, and I’m still sucking. But I did land a hit on him tonight, and I feel pretty proud of myself.
“You did good tonight, kiddo.” The silver-haired man says as he gulps down water from his bottle. I lift my arm into the air and give him a thumbs-up. A deep chuckle escapes my guardian’s mouth, and he walks toward me and leans over my tired body. “We’ll take a break from training during the weekend, and then when next week comes, I’ll teach you some new skills.”
I sit up from the ground, grab my water bottle, and take a few chugs. “Thank god, I thought you were going to torture me without any breaks.” I softly chuckle.
As we collected all our things and headed back up to the cafe, my phone dinged, and I smiled as I saw who the message was from. Hide asked if I still wanted him to come with me to the CCG ward tomorrow to leave my statement about what happened. We haven’t had time to hang out outside of school since he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I was excited to spend tomorrow with him. A dorky smile was plastered on my face as I texted the blonde boy back, and I was oblivious to the dark silver eyes glaring back at me. The sound of a deep ‘ahem’ drew my attention to Yomo. I looked up at him, the bright smile still adorning my face.
“You texting that one boy?” Renji says, crossing his arms over his chest. His grey brows knitted into a frown as he stared down at the phone in my hands. A deep blush creeps up on my cheeks. I haven’t talked to Yomo about Hide and I dating. I’ve been a bit nervous and embarrassed to tell him. What if he got upset? I know he’s very protective of me, and I don’t want him to be mad at me. I also don’t know how to talk about my feelings to him, especially about a boy. A deep sigh leaves my lips, and I glance at the ground.
“Renji, I have something I need to tell you.” My voice comes out quietly.
“You’re pregnant already!?” Renji’s face scrunches into a frown.
My jaw drops to the floor at the words that leave the man who’s like my father. I was shocked and stared at the more prominent man gripping his fist and marching past me. “That’s it. I’m killing him.” I’ve never seen Renji look so mad. The look in his eyes was so scary that even I felt terrified.
I grab Renji’s shoulder and hold him back, “No, no!” I shake my head, “We haven’t– I’ve never–” I didn’t even know what to say. I was so embarrassed to talk about my sex life, more like lack of it, to the man who’s practically my dad. “He’s my boyfriend!” I yell out in a panic. Renji suddenly calms down and looks down at me with his monotonous face. His face might have returned to his usual stoic self, but I can tell he’s relieved.
“Oh, good.” Renji nods his head slightly. “He seems like a good kid.” My face contorted as I looked at the silver-haired man. How can he go from wanting to kill Hide to saying he seems like a good kid? “Just promise me you’ll wait until marriage to have kids.”
My hands shoot up to cover my face, and I groan, “Renji! Please stop…” I run my hands through my hair, “Even if we ever get to that point, we couldn’t have kids together. He’s human, and I’m a ghoul. It wouldn’t work.”
“That’s a relief.” The silver-haired man said.
I playfully smacked his shoulder and shook my head. “Promise me you’ll tell me if he ever hurts you.” Renji grips down on my shoulders and stares deeply into my eyes. My heart swells knowing how much this man cares for me. I would give anything to have this moment with my actual father, but to have Renji here means the world to me.
“I promise.”
Yomo pulls me into a tight hug, and I wrap my arms around him.
“God, I never knew seeing you grow up would make me emotional.” He grabs my face and squishes my cheeks. Then, the silver-haired male leans down and kisses my head. “I love you, kiddo.”
My eyes gloss over with tears as I look up at him. I can see the emotion in his eyes. It looked like he was on the verge of crying, and I couldn’t help the way my bottom lip juts out. “I love you too… Dad.” The tears start falling down my cheeks. I’ve never called Yomo my dad before, but for some reason, it just felt right. I explained to Renji long ago that he was like a father to me, but I don’t think I could call him dad. Renji has been nothing but understanding towards me. If he wanted me to call him dad, he never voiced it or pushed me because of my boundaries.
“You…” Renji’s voice cracks as he speaks, and a tear rolls down his cheek. This is the first time I’ve ever seen him cry. “You just called me dad.”
“I- I did.” I smile softly and wipe the tears away from my face. “You are my father.”
He pulls me back into another tight hug. “I think I can die happy now,“ he chuckles. “When I started caring for you, I always thought it would be weird for you to call me dad, so it wasn’t hard for me to accept that you only used my name. As time passed, I grew to care more about you as a daughter, and I’ve secretly been dying to hear you call me that.”
My heart squeezed in my chest, and I couldn’t do anything but cry more as Renji confessed how he felt deep down. I always knew he loved and cared for me, but I never knew he felt that way. I thought he was content with me just using his name. Knowing that he’s longed to be called my father for a while makes this even more emotional. I don’t even know where I would be without him. Renji deserves to be called by the actual title he is. Calling the silver-haired man my dad doesn’t mean I’m replacing my actual father who passed away. This man, standing before me and holding me, is my father.
“Well, I guess I’ll just have to call you dad from now on.”
——————————
Today’s the day that I’ll be going to the CCG’s 20th ward. After the incident in which Touka tried to attack one of the investigators. Amon, a ghoul investigator, reached out to me and set up a meeting for me to leave a proper statement. Usually, things like this would happen right after an incident, but because of the circumstances and Hide whisking me away, it took Amon some time to set all this up. I stood in front of my mirror and looked over my outfit. I’m wearing light denim jeans, an oversized band tee, and a pair of sneakers. It wasn’t anything crazy or overly impressive. If I was going into the Dove’s lair, I wanted to be comfortable, and being comfortable would help me relax. Or at least I hope it will.
I make my way out of the cafe and meet up with Hide on the sidewalk. He smiles brightly at me as I walk closer, and I hand him a to-go cup of coffee.
“I made your favorite,” I say.
It still amazes me that this man is my boyfriend. Like what?! I know it’s only been a week, but I still feel I don’t deserve him. Hide is too kind and caring to be with me. I mean, I’m a ghoul, and deep down, I feel terrible that I can’t fully open up to him. I wish I could rant about my nerves about entering the CCG building, and how terrified I am that everyone in there might know I’m a ghoul.
Hide takes the paper cup from me, takes a big gulp, and sighs with a smile. “I have the best girlfriend, don’t I?” The blonde boy grabs my hand with his free one and interlocks our fingers together.
I smile softly, lift my cup to my lips, and quickly sip the bitterness. It’s strange how Hide always says the right thing at the right time. It was almost like he knew I was thinking badly about myself. Hide leans down and kisses my cheek softly, causing an instant warmth to flood my face. Having Hide show me affection like this will take some time to get used to, but I wouldn’t change any of this.
“Thank you for coming along with me,” I say as we walk toward the CCG building.
Hide squeezes my hand reassuringly, “I can only imagine that walking into a building full of ghoul investigators can be intimidating. There’s no way I’d let you face that alone.” The blonde stops in his tracks and turns to look at me with a serious face. “I also want to make sure that big scary guy doesn’t try to accuse you of anything.”
A small laugh erupts from my chest, and I shake my head softly, “He is kind of scary, isn’t he?”
If I had to face Amon alone, I’m sure all he would have to do was look at me, and I would crack. Not really. I’m used to being looked at with that kind of face, but I feel like he would be able to sense my nerves and put two and two together.
As we approach the doors to the CCG building, I squeeze Hide’s hand tightly and take a big breath. Here goes nothing. We walk through the huge glass doors and head straight to the front desk. We tell the lady why we are there, and she tells us to sit in the waiting area.
“Oh, I know this is kind of a weird moment to give this to you,” Hide reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a box, “But I made this necklace for you.” The blonde boy hands me the box. “I was going to give it to you later, but I can’t wait any longer.” Hide looks toward the ground and scratches the back of his neck.
I twirl the box around in my hands and slowly open it to reveal a sleek chain with the letter ‘H’ dangling on it. The necklace wasn’t anything crazy or fancy, but I loved it nonetheless. I pulled the necklace out of the box, a giant smile etched on my face, and I grazed my finger over the letter.
“I love it!” I turned around so my back faced Hide, and I held the chain around my neck. “Will you put it on for me?”
Hide’s soft fingers brush across the back of my neck as he grabs the ends of the necklace. He clasps each end together, and the ‘H’ falls perfectly between my collarbones.
“My initial looks good on you.” Hide leans into his chair and grins as he takes in my appearance with the necklace on.
“(L/n) (Y/n).” A deep voice draws Hide and me out of our moment. My head whips around to see a large male, Amon, and a small, frail-looking older man with white shoulder-length hair. The old male looks me over, and his stare sends a shiver down my spine. For some reason, I feel like he already knows I’m a ghoul. I stand from my seat and bow to the two investigators.
“This is Senior Investigator Mado.” Amon gestures to the frail-looking man, “He’s going to sit in during the interview.”
I do my best not to look phased in front of the senior investigator, but the older man’s beady eyes pierced right through me. It felt like he had me trapped where I was and that I couldn’t move. My breath caught in my throat, and my chest started to tighten. Fuck. No. Now is not the time for a damn panic attack. Pins and needles began to prick through my body, and if I didn’t calm myself down, I knew I would start shaking. A hand gently rested on my shoulder, and I quickly whipped my head around. My (e/c) eyes looked straight into olive ones. Hide flashed his beautiful smile to me, and suddenly, everything felt okay. I give a weak smile back at the blonde boy. His touch and beaming smile ground me back to reality. I have to hold myself together while I’m in here.
I look back at the investigators, “I hope you don’t mind that my boyfriend joins me?”
Mado’s eyes move toward Hide, and he looks the bright boy up and down. Hide wasn’t phased at all by the frail man’s intensive gaze. He kept his hand on my shoulder and gave the older man a closed-eyed smile. Mado ticks at Hide’s reaction. I do my best to suppress a laugh at the interaction.
“We don’t mind.” Mado smiles at us sinisterly.
The two investigators lead us toward the RC scan gate. I had hoped they would take us into a room that didn’t require going through one of those. First, Amon passes through, and nothing happens as he does. Next, it’s Mado, and as he gets through, he turns around, glaring at Hide and me. The blonde boy holds my hand as he walks through, dragging me behind him. I almost planted my feet on the ground to stop him, but there was no escaping. If I don’t go through, they’ll know I’m a ghoul; if I do, they’ll know I’m a ghoul. It’s a lose-lose situation here.
“Hide, I—” I whisper in fear, trying to convince Hide to let me go, but Hide drags me through the RC scan gate. And nothing happens. I look back at the gate, gawking at it, but quickly regain myself. Looking over at Mado, I smirk at him smugly. Yeah, that’s right, you look like a fool thinking I was a ghoul. Even though I am a ghoul, he doesn’t need to know that. As we walk to one of the meeting rooms in the CCG building, I look back at the RC scan gate. A weird feeling rushes through me. Why would the CCG have a faulty RC scan gate? You’d think they would make sure their gates worked properly.
Amon led us into a small room with a square table in the middle and four chairs surrounding it. The walls were painted a cream color that bordered on an ugly yellow. On one wall was a large window that overlooked the 20th-ward. The sun shone brightly through the window, illuminating everything inside the small room. We each took a seat in one of the chairs. Hide slid his chair closer to mine, where his knee almost brushed against mine as he bounced his leg up and down. Amon pulled out a notebook from the inside of his coat, put it on the table, then pulled out a pen and clicked it. The buff man looked at his superior for confirmation, and Mado nodded for Amon to begin.
The dark-haired male cleared his throat and started talking. “I’ll start asking basic questions about you, and then we’ll move on to the real statement.” Amon’s deep voice commanded the room’s attention.
“Okay,” I nodded and waited for him to ask me questions.
“First off, please state your name,” The pen in Amon’s hand already started writing on the notepad in front of him.
“(L/n) (Y/n).”
“And how old are you, (L/n)?”
“I’m eighteen.”
Amon asks me a few other questions about myself and writes them all down. Hide went still, no longer bouncing his leg, as the dark-haired dove began asking me questions. The blonde's olive eyes watched Amon closely while listening to the investigator's words. I could tell Hide was ready to enter the conversation if it drifted beyond me leaving my statement.
“Can you explain what you were doing before the ghoul appeared?” Amon asked. The dark-haired male set his pen down and looked right at me with a stern expression. It’s uncanny how Amon and Renji give off similar vibes. If only they weren’t from two different worlds, I would’ve loved to have them meet each other.
“I was out taking a walk that day to clear my head,” I was trying to keep an eye on my friend, “Things have been stressful for me lately with uni, and I was deep in thought over my school work.” One of my best friends got killed by one of you guys, and my other best friend wants revenge. “I heard someone talking ahead of me, and as I looked up to see where the voice was coming from, I saw this figure flying toward them in the sky.” Touka was about to kill this man.
“Without thinking, I jumped in front of Kusaba. I hope I remembered his name properly,” Amon nodded at me and gestured for me to continue, “I jumped in front of him and pushed him out of the way.” I shrugged my shoulders like it wasn’t a big deal. I just did what any average citizen would do, right?
“So, you just moved on your own?” Amon raised an eyebrow at me.
“Yes, it was like I didn’t have control over my movements.”
The dark-haired male leaned back in his chair and slowly looked me up and down. His gaze was intense, and I could feel my cheeks redden in embarrassment. I glanced at Hide, wondering if he had caught how Amon looked at me. And how Hide was glaring at the other male answered my question.
“That was very brave of you, (L/n).” The dark-haired dove praises me, “But also very stupid.” Amon then berates me.
Sitting beside Amon, Mado chuckles softly. My mouth gaped open as I went to protest that what I did wasn’t stupid, but I quickly shut my mouth. What I did would be very stupid for a human, especially a human who isn’t a ghoul investigator. If I wasn’t a ghoul and, most importantly, if I weren’t someone Touka cared about, then she would’ve gone through with her attack and killed me no matter what.
“Have you ever encountered a ghoul before?” Mado asks. The frail-looking man leans forward onto the table and rests his chin on his hands as he looks at me.
“No, like I told Amon, it was my first time encountering one.” I shuddered softly at the thought of a ghoul, playing on the fact that I'd never seen one before. “And I have a mark to remember the encounter for the rest of my life.” I touch my back as I think about the gash Touka created on my back. The wound is fully healed now, and there isn’t any evidence that it ever happened. But my statement did what I wanted it to. Kind of. Amon looked at me like he was sorry I got hurt, but Mado stared at me like he wasn’t entirely convinced about what I was saying.
“You’re a fortunate girl that the ghoul stopped its attack,” One of Mado’s eyes squints while the other stays wide open, and he cocks his head sideways as he speaks to me, “I wonder why…”
“My last question is if you looked at the ghoul well? I know they hide their identity, but maybe you caught some identifying feature?” Amon cuts Mado off.
“No, I’m sorry. I only saw that the ghoul wore a black, ankle-length coat and a rabbit mask.” I say what I know they already know about the ghoul that attacked, “Unfortunately, my back was toward them most of the time, so I didn’t see anything else.”
“That’s okay,” Amon finishes scribbling on his notepad. “Well, that’s all we needed from you. Thank you for talking with us.” The tall male stands up from his chair and motions toward the door, “I’ll walk the both of you out.”
Hide and I follow closely behind Amon as he walks us down the hallway of the CCG’s office. I ignored how the inside of the building looked on my way to the interview since I was so nervous. So this time, as we’re walking back toward the public lobby, I let my eyes wander around. The inside of the building looks a lot less creepy than I thought it would. As a kid, I imagined the place where doves worked would look like something out of a horror movie, with ghoul parts hanging around as trophies and murder weapons with blood dripping down them. I guess their quinque is their trophy, along with their murder weapon.
As we round the hall, we bump into two other ghoul investigators who stop Amon. I hear them asking him about going out to eat, but I’m not paying too much attention to their conversation. An arm wraps around my waist, stealing my attention, and I smile at Hide as he pulls me closer to his side. But the blonde boy isn’t looking at me. Hide looks straightforward, so I drift to where he’s looking and see Kusaba and Nakajima. Ah, I know, he’s jealous cause Kusaba asked for my number. I chuckle softly and raise my hand to poke the blonde boy on his cheek. Hide looks down at me and grabs my hand. He stares into my eyes and touches my hand, kissing my knuckles softly. I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks at the contact, but our moment was interrupted by someone calling out my name.
“(Y/n)!” Kusaba yells while waving his hand frantically at me, “We’re going out to lunch, and you should join us! I owe you for saving my life!” The brunette with glasses says excitedly. “And your boyfriend can come too!”
I look at Hide with a questioning gaze. Whatever the blonde answered with would be my answer as well. Hide wrapped his arm around my shoulder and flashed Kusaba a bright smile.
“If you’re paying, man, we’d love to!” Hide glanced down at me with a smirk.
My eyes widened as I looked up at the blonde male. I wasn’t expecting him to agree to this. Now I have to pretend to eat in front of these people. I internally groan, but how Kusaba looks at us makes me feel a bit better.
“Of course! Let’s go!” Kusaba and Nakajima look happy to have the extra company for their lunch outing, but Amon doesn’t seem as thrilled to have the person he just questioned crash his lunchtime.
I glare back at the blonde male for agreeing to go with them for lunch. Why did Hide say yes?! I thought he was going to say we had plans, but it seems like he wants to torture me for some reason. I trudge behind the group of men while Hide holds my hand and pulls me along. The three ghoul investigators trail further ahead of us, deep in conversation. As we exited the building, my shoulder accidentally bumped into another person entering the CCG. I look up to apologize to the person I hit for not paying attention, but my voice catches in my throat when I see a pair of plum-colored eyes. Touka? The young girl scoffs as she pushes past me and into the building. Then my eyes land on a dark-haired male, Kaneki, and he quietly apologizes before rushing inside.
“Hey, that looked kind of like-” I elbow Hide in the side before he can continue talking. I’m not sure what those two are doing here, but I couldn’t let Hide finish what he was going to say. Touka and Kankei dressed in a way that did not allow them to be recognized. If Hide says their real names and the doves we’re with hear him, they might get suspicious of what’s happening or who Hide and I are.
We entered a small restaurant, and the chef behind the counter greeted us with a joyful smile as we took our seats. I sat next to Kusaba, and Hide sat on my other side. Nakajima was next to Kusaba, and Amon was next to Hide. Nobody but me sees how weird of a group this is—a ghoul out for lunch with three doves and my boyfriend, who’s a human. All my life, I’ve tried my hardest to stay away from ghoul investigators and for them not to know who I am. Now, I’m hanging out with three of them, and they know my identity. God, I’m so fucking stupid. If any of this falls through, I’m dead. Maybe I should just go into hiding after this? Disappear for a while? What if I bring attention to my friends and family? I would never forgive myself if something happened to them because of me.
“(Y/n)!” A hand waves in front of my face, and I turn to my left to look at the male with glasses.
“Oh, sorry, I was lost in thought.” I chuckle softly to brush it off, “What were you saying?”
“I was just asking if you knew what you would order. It’s on me, so you can get whatever you want!” Kusaba seems like a nice guy, and seeing him sitting here with his friends makes me happy. It makes me feel like I didn’t screw things up by saving his life. It also makes me feel weird that I’m thinking a dove is a nice guy.
I looked at the menu on the wall before us and reviewed my options. None of them sounded good to me; honestly, the thought of eating a whole meal makes me sick. I bit my lip, thinking about which option I could stomach best.
“(Y/n) and I will share a meal.” Hide looks at me with a look that makes my heart stop for a moment. His eyes show such understanding that it scares me. There’s no way he knows I’m a ghoul. “She doesn’t usually eat a lot, and I’m always stuck eating her leftovers.” The blonde boy laughs as he explains my eating habits to the other men, even though we have never shared a meal. “So whenever we go out, I just order a bit extra, and we share.”
The three doves listen closely to Hide as if he’s letting them in on a secret when in a relationship with someone, and the look on Kusaba's face is almost comical. Everyone orders their food, and we talk about random things until our food is in front of us. I grab a pair of chopsticks and pick at the food between Hide and me. It’s been so long since I’ve had to eat in front of others that it made me nervous, but Hide makes the whole thing fun and playful. He picks up some food with his chopsticks and holds it to me.
A teasing smirk plastered on his face as he brought the chopsticks closer to me, and I leaned forward and wrapped my mouth around them. My eyes were locked onto Hide’s olive ones as I slowly bit the food off his chopsticks, completely forgetting that there were people around us until my eyes drifted to the side and my (e/c) eyes met a pair of teal ones. Amon cleared his throat and turned back to his food with a blush on his face. Great. Someone kill me now. Why did I suddenly feel like making a show of taking a bite off Hide’s chopsticks? My face turns bright red, and I lean back into my seat. A deep chuckle erupts from Hide’s chest as he sees my embarrassed reaction. The blonde boy leans forward, and his breath blows on my ear as he whispers.
“Wasn’t expecting you to do something like that in front of others.” Hide’s voice was low and held a teasing tone to it. He enjoyed seeing me embarrassed like this in front of others. I groan out, lean on the table, and hide my face in my arms. I needed a moment to myself before I could show my face again.
The rest of the time goes by well, and I avoid any other embarrassing moments. I realize that when Amon and I look at each other, his cheeks get a little pink, and he quickly looks away. We finish our meals, and I get away with eating only a little bit, thanks to Hide. And just like Kusaba said earlier, he ended up paying for everyone's meals, which left Nakajima’s jaw hanging on the floor. Every time they go out for food, Kusaba makes Nakajima pay for his meal, and this is the first time Nakajima has seen Kusaba pay. And the man with glasses isn’t just paying for his meal; he’s paying for everyone's meal. Hide and I say thanks and bid farewell to the three doves as we leave the restaurant. I feel like I can breathe properly for the first time all day. Hide intertwines his fingers with mine as we walk back to Anteiku. We stop outside of the steps that lead up to the cafe door. The blonde male brushes his fingers under my jaw and holds my chin, lifting my face toward his. Hide leans down, his lips just a breath over mine, and my eyes flutter close at the proximity.
Our lips intertwine, and my senses overfill with how sweet his lips taste. It's almost too sweet. I can feel my kakugan take over my eyes as my body reacts to the taste of Hide on my tongue. I didn’t eat much human food earlier, but enough to weaken me, causing my body to want to regenerate. My ghoul instincts are taking over, and I’m beginning to frighten myself. I can feel Hide about to pull away, but if he sees my eyes, he’ll know what I am. I wrap my arms around the dirty blonde’s neck and pull him closer to me, deepening the kiss. I’m unsure how this will help me recover my kakugan, but doing this is all I can think of right now.
“Ugh, disgusting.” A familiar voice rings through my ears, and I quickly let go of the blonde male and turn toward my plum-haired friend.
“Touka!” I yell at her. My kakugan is still consuming my orbs, and Touka’s eyes widen as she looks at me. I quickly grab the girl's arm, keeping my face hidden from Hide, and drag her up the stairs into Anteiku.
“Uh, what just happened?” Kaneki’s quiet voice rips through the air.
Hide just stands on the sidewalk in a daze with a confused look, “I’m not sure… Maybe girl stuff?”
*
(Y/n)! What’s going on?! Why are your eyes like that?” The plum-haired girl gripped my shoulders as we entered a private area in Anteiku.
“Hide and I went out to eat, and when he kissed me, my kakugan just took over my eyes.” I wince at the thought of putting Hide in a dangerous situation. That kiss could have turned ugly if I hadn’t controlled myself.
“This is why we shouldn’t be mixing ourselves with humans!” Touka spat at me, “What if he saw your eyes!?”
“He didn’t!” I yell back at the younger girl. Even though I’m older than her, she treats me like I’m a child and she’s an adult.
“How can you be sure?” Touka crossed her arms over her chest, and her eyes narrowed into a deep glare.
I lean back against the wall and rake my fingers through my hair. My chest rises and falls with a deep sigh. “Do you think that situation would’ve gone the way it did if he saw?” God, my voice sounded so pathetic when I spoke. My eyes focus on the ground, not wanting Touka to see how my eyes glaze over with sadness. Ultimately, she’ll probably be right about everything, but until then, I just want to be happy.
“Right, sorry.” The plum-haired girl walks toward me and rests her back against the wall beside me. “So, what were you doing at the CCG?”
“I had to leave a statement about what happened.” I clenched my fingers and slowly released them, “It was really strange.” I lifted my head to look at Touka. “I had to walk through the RC scan gate, and I thought that was it. That I was going to die, but when I stepped through it, nothing happened.”
The plum-haired girl stared at me, thinking about what I said. “That is strange…” We stand together in a comfortable silence. After I interfered with Touka and Kusaba, I thought she’d hate me forever, but here we are, and Touka isn’t ripping my head off.
“I went to the CCG to leave a false tip about Hinami, hoping it’ll lead the doves far away from her.” Touka closed her eyes and stayed like that momentarily before pushing off the wall. “Thanks, I guess, for stopping me.” Was the last thing the plum-haired girl said before walking to her room.
——————————
It’s been another long day working at Anteiku, and I muster a bright smile for our last customers as they walk out the door. I quickly ran to the door, flipped the open sign to close, and locked the door. The bitter smell of coffee beans wafts through the air due to the amount of beans we brewed today. I’m sure the smell has seeped into my clothes and hair. Coffee is probably integrating into my scent at this point. I’ll have to ask Hide if he smells it on me next time I’m with him.
I walk to the back room of the cafe and grab a bottle of disinfectant and a clean rag. Slowly, I start spraying down all the tables and cleaning them off, and once the tables are clean, I do the same with the chairs. At the end of each night, we flip the chairs upside down and set them on top of the tables, and it would just be gross if I didn’t disinfect the chairs before doing that. I mean, just think about it: the part of the chair where people sit lying on a table where you eat and drink without disinfecting it? Disgusting. Once the tables and chairs are adequately cleaned and disinfected, I set the chairs on top of the tables. Then, I return to the other room and prepare the mop. Before the mop head touched the ground, Kaneki shouted at me.
“Hinami is missing!”
My head whips around, and the mop falls from my hands, creating a ‘thud’ sound as it hits the ground. “What!?” I rush over to Kaneki. The dark-haired male’s face is frighteningly pale, and his chest heaves up and down.
“She’s not in her room, and we can’t find her elsewhere!”
I rest my hands on Kaneki’s shoulders and meet the boy’s dark eyes. “Where’s T–” A body dashes by me, and I follow right after it without thinking. I didn’t need to see who it was to know it was Touka.
We dashed through the city, not caring about anything around us, as we looked for Hinami. It doesn’t take long for us to lose Kaneki since he’s not as fast as us. Touka is a faster ghoul than me, but I can still keep up with her. Maybe if this had happened a few weeks ago, I would have fallen behind, but my stamina has grown thanks to my training with Renji.
The further we go, the more potent a particular smell gets, and I wrinkle my nose in disgust. It smells like a dead ghoul. A dead ghoul that smells similar to…
“Hinami!” Touka and I yell in unison as we look at one another. Our pace picks up, and we quickly find ourselves under a bridge. Hinami sits on river rocks, up against the bridge, with her head buried into her knees. My heart breaks at the sight of the little girl. She’s been suffering, and I’ve barely done anything to help her. We approach the little brunette, and Touka speaks softly, saying it’s time for us to go home.
“N-no…” Hinami’s voice cracks as she speaks. The young girl lifts her head slightly. Dark circles ring around the poor girl’s eyes, and she looks so… hopeless. “It doesn’t matter where I go. I’m going to get killed anyway.” Hinami sniffles and rests her cheek on something that looks like… Wait, is that a hand she’s holding?
“That newspaper, it said a ghoul targeted a ghoul investigator.” The petite brunette looked at Touka. Hinamis eyes were dull and lifeless—something I didn’t want to witness from this sweet girl. “You tried to kill him? Didn’t you?” My eyes drifted toward Touka, and the plum-haired girl was looking at the ground, teeth mashed together and hands clenched into fists at her side.
“They probably think I did it…” Touka tried to step forward and protest but grabbed the teenager’s arm and shook my head. What Hinami says is hard to listen to, but she needs to get her feelings out. “Those people who killed my mom are coming for me…”
Touka rips her arm out of my grip and stands directly in front of Hinami, but she pauses when she notices what Hinami is holding. “Hina, what is that?”
“It’s mom’s…” Hinami chokes on a sob, and I quickly go to the little girl’s side. Kneeling, so I’m at her height. I wrap my arms around her and pull the little girl to my side. My hand caresses her hair, and I whisper soft words to try and help her relax.
“Why did this happen?” Tears start falling down the little girl’s cheeks, and I squeeze her closer to me. Tears threatened to spill from my own eyes. “Aren’t ghouls allowed to live!?” Hinami cries out. Fuck! Why can’t this world be fair? Do young ghouls have to suffer like this? To lose parents? I’m not one to see red, but at this moment, seeing Hinami so broken, all I want to do is hurt those who have hurt her.
Touka explained how she went to the CCG and spoke with them, saying that they didn’t know much about Hinami and that the only people who knew what she looked like were those who saw her. The plum-haired girl kneeled on the rocks beside us and joined in on our makeshift hug.
“We’ll protect you, Hinami,” Touka whispers out.
A soft smile grows on my face, and I nod, agreeing, “We won’t let anything happen to you.”
The little girl sniffles and looks between us, “You promise?”
Holding out my pinky finger, I say, “I pinky promise.”
Touka then brings her pinky finger next to mine, “Pinky promise.”
Hinami smiles brightly and lifts her pinky finger, and the three of us intertwine our pinkies in a promise. We won’t ever let harm come to this sweet girl.
After our heartwarming moment, Touka stands up to call Kaneki and tell him we have found Hinami. I stay by the little brunette’s side, and she wraps her hand around mine. I squeeze Hinami’s hand and smile sweetly at her. Once we return home, I’ll spend more time with her and ensure she is healing properly.
Touka’s voice goes quiet, and the sound of a man speaking makes the hairs on my neck stand. “Ah, it’s good to see you again, Fueguchi’s daughter and…” I turn around to see the frail-looking man standing at the end of the bridge. “Oh?” His unstable eyes look into mine, and I feel my body sifting like a board. Quickly, I step in front of Hinami, not wanting him to see the little girl or get close to her.
“(L/n) and Yamaguhi.” Mado’s eyes widen at the sight of us. “I knew Yamaguchi, or should I say, The Rabbit, was hiding something, but I wasn’t expecting to see you here.” The older man throws his head back and laughs. “This is quite the circumstance.” Mado’s face contorts into disgust. “It makes me sick. A monster, of all things, wishing for a peaceful life!“ He yells out.
The white-haired man gripped his briefcase close to his side, and I could see his finger push down on a button next to the handle. I grab Hinami in my arms and jump back, feet sliding on the rocks as I dodge Mado’s attack. I grit my teeth together and feel my eyes change into kakugan. No matter what happens, I’ll protect Hinami and help Touka!
“Did you enjoy my gift?” the white-haired man smirks sinisterly. “I figured you missed your mom and left you her hand.” An evil laugh erupts from Mado’s lips. “You fell right for it!”
Mado lungs for another attack, but Touka jumps out, stopping his quinque from getting close to us. The older male scuffs and praises Touka for how she fights, declaring that she could be as strong as The Owl if she weren’t going to die today. I watch closely as Touka charges at the ghoul investigator. Touka’s sight focuses on her target. Mado reaches behind himself and pulls out another briefcase. Before he can press the button, I jump forward and pull Touka out of the way.
Large butterfly-like wings spread out from the case. My face drops as I notice why this quinque looks so familiar. It’s Ryoko’s kagune. I turn back to look at Hinami, and she’s covering her face with her hands, screaming at the sight of her mother's kagune getting used. Touka and I charge at Mado. I don’t care what I said before. I’m killing this bastard. The dove swings his quinque, knocking me to the ground, but he ends up penetrating Touka’s abdomen. The plum-haired girl gets pinned to one of the pillars holding up the bridge above us.
“Touka!” I call out her name as I push myself out of the water I landed in. My clothes were soaked, but I couldn’t feel the coldness as it seeped into my bones. My body was numb with rage, and the only thing I could feel was my thirst for blood. My surroundings blur as I rush at Mado, my kagune ready to strike, and as I get close, I slash down his back. The older man laughs out in pain. This sick fuck. Laughing after I just injured him. He swings Hinami’s dad’s kagune at me, landing a hit on my shoulder. It punctures right through me, and then he quickly pulls it back. Blood sputters up my mouth, but I refuse to give him the satisfaction of seeing me spit it out. So I swallow it down.
As I move to make another hit at Mado, something flies past my head, barely brushing against my cheek. I watch in shock as Mado’s hand slides off of his wrist and falls into the water below us. Blood squirts out from his wound, and he stares bug-eyed at his missing hand. Turning to look behind me, I see Hinami crying, and her kagune is protruding from her back. This is the first time I’ve seen Hinami’s kagune, and I’m sure it’s her first time using it. If this were under different circumstances, I would tell her how beautiful she looks and that she’s so lucky to have her father and mother’s kagune—a piece of each person she’s missing.
“My mom…” The poor brunette sniffles as she rubs at her eyes, “My dad…” I slowly start to move to the side, feeling like the little girl is going to explode any second, and I don’t want to get caught in the crossfire.
“DON’T DO THE SAME THING YOU DID TO THEM!” Hinami yelled. And just like I expected, her kagune went wild and started lashing out toward Mado. As she thrashed out, the young brunette wasn’t paying attention to her attacks. Her kagune whipped around Mado, threatening to hit him, and all the older man did was cry out in excitement for wanting the young girl's kagune. He was acting like a kid in a candy shop, and seeing him sickened me. One of Hinami’s attacks finally hit Mado, slicing his lower leg right off his body. Even with this severe injury, that crazy old man persisted in collecting Hinami’s kagune.
“Finish him!” Touka yells out to Hinami. My eyes dart over to the plum-haired girl in shock. How could she ask that of Hinami? She’s just a little kid. Hinami shouldn’t carry the burden of killing anyone.
The brunette girl falls to her knees in the river and cries. “Revenge doesn’t matter to me. I’m just sad.” Hinami’s kagune shrinks up into her back. “I miss my mom and dad so much. I just want to be with them again. It’s so lonely by myself.”
“Oh, Hina…” I understand how she feels. She’s not much older than I was when my parents got killed. Going through something like this, especially at such a young age, is so hard. No ghoul or human should ever experience this pain. This whole encounter shows just how messed up this world is. Us ghouls deserve happy lives, too.
The sound of something dragging through the water caught my attention, and I saw Mado reaching to grab his quinque.
“Oh, give it a…” His voice echoes off the walls of the bridge. Touka is on the move to end Mado, but something inside me screams to do it first. So I beat Touka to it. I slice Mado’s neck. His blood gushes out onto my face. My body just stands there frozen as I watch him clutch his throat. Gargling noises are all he’s able to make as he falls onto his knees, and then his whole body falls over into the river. The entire scene played out in slow motion before me. I just killed him. I haven’t killed in years. A vile taste pushes its way up my throat, and I lean the other way to throw up.
“(Y/n)! I could’ve done it!” Touka looks at me with concern.
I wipe my mouth to clear away any vomit, but I just end up spreading Mado’s blood on my face. “You shouldn’t need to.” My voice comes out softly. “I’m the oldest.” I try to steady my breath. “I’ll protect the both of you.” I flash Touka and Hinami a caring smile. Neither of them should carry this kind of burden. I know Touka struggles with these things, even if she’s killed multiple people before. That’s why I couldn’t let her kill Kusaba and why I stepped in to kill Mado. Even if it kills me on the inside to do it, I’ll do anything for those I love.
“Hey! You guys okay?” Kaneki yells out to us as he runs under the bridge, but my eyes skip past him to Renji.
“Dad…” Suddenly, seeing Renji, I felt I could finally release all my emotions, but I bit my lip as the tears threatened to spill. His silver eyes widen at the sight of me covered in blood. His instinct is to grab and pull me into his embrace, but he stops after taking a step forward. I watch him closely as his nose moves in the air.
“Someone’s headed this way. We have to go.” We all collectively nod our heads.
Renji bends down in front of HInami, offering her his back, and she gladly climbs on. We start making our way in the direction of the cafe. Everyone is quiet, and you can only hear nature’s lullaby. I walk next to Renji, who holds his hand out to me, and I quickly interlace our fingers together. If I weren’t so drained of emotions, my heart would be swelling at the gesture, but even happy feelings feel too much right now.
After walking in silence, Hinami quietly asked, “Is it okay for me to live?”
“I think what Ryoko was trying to tell you that day was to live.” Kaneki’s sweet voice answered back.
The little girl nods in agreement and chokes back a sob as she buries her face in Renji’s back. I glance back at Kaneki, who’s pestering Touka to see if she’s okay and needs help. The interaction is cute as the plum-haired girl denies his help but gives in anyway when he wraps her arm around his shoulder. I bet they’re going to end up together at some point. Kaneki is good for Touka; he’s good for everyone. Being half human and half-ghoul, he sees things differently from us. With Kaneki by our side, I’m sure he’ll open our eyes to new perspectives.
Once we make it to Anteiku, I go into the meat fridge, grab a wrapped piece of meat, and head to my room. This wound in my shoulder needs to heal, and the only way to help it heal faster is to eat. I sit down on the floor of my room and undo the package. I don’t even bother to eat nicely. I just pick up the meat with my fingers and start eating it. When I finish, I strip myself of my clothes and throw them in the trash. There’s no salvaging them with all the blood and rips on them. I make my way to my bathroom and turn on the hot water. Once it reaches my desired temperature, I step inside and let the hot water seep into my skin. The water runs red for a few minutes before it finally changes to clear. I washed my hair and skin about four times to ensure I got all the dirt and blood off myself. The wound on my shoulder is still visible, but it’s not as bad as it originally was.
I get out of the shower, dry my body, and wrap my hair in a microfiber towel. I then slip on some sweatpants and an oversized shirt. Once cleaned and dressed, I leave my room and go down the hall to Renji’s room. My knuckles tap softly against the wooden door, and the silver-haired man's voice pierces through, saying to come in. I push the door open and see Renji lying on his bed. My feet shuffle against the ground as I approach his bed, climb over his blanket, slide up next to Renji, and lay my head on his chest. He wraps his arms around me and holds me close.
“I killed him.” My voice is barely above a whisper as I speak.
Renji’s lips press to the top of my head, and his hand rubs up and down my back. “It’s okay, kiddo. You were just protecting those around you.”
“I- I don’t like doing it, but I will if I have to.” I bury my face into Renji’s chest as the hot, salty tears stream down my face. We lay there in his bed as he held me and let me release all my emotions. Suddenly, my phone went off, and I would have ignored it if it hadn’t been for the ringtone. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and hit the green button.
“Hide?” My voice is hoarse as I speak due to all my crying.
“Hey, I just got done talking to Kaneki. He says you had a rough night. Are you okay? Do you need me to come and get you?” Hide’s voice is frantic on the other end of the line, and I can hear him rustling around in his apartment. He is undoubtedly getting ready to come pick me up no matter what I say. I look up at Renji, who’s still holding me against his chest, a smile blooming as I look at the man I now call Dad. As much as I would love to see Hide after everything, I just want to spend time with Renji. The way Renji looks at me tells me he knows what I’m thinking, but he shakes his head and mouths ‘go.’ I look at the silver-haired male with a bit of confusion. But I’m a good kid, and I know there’s a reason Renji is telling me to go and not stay here with him.
“I’m feeling a bit better, but yeah, could you come get me?” I answer the blonde back.
“I’m already out the door! I’ll be there in 20!”
I hang up the phone, sit up on the bed, and look at Renji. “Why did you tell me to go?”
“There comes a time in a father’s life where it isn’t his job to comfort his daughter anymore. Let him be there for you, even if you can’t fully tell him what’s wrong.” Renji sits up next to me and leans over to place another kiss on my forehead.
“Who knew the scary Yomo Renji could be so sappy.” I laugh and throw my arms around Renji’s neck for one last hug. “I love you, dad.”
“I love you too, (Y/n).”
I leave Renji’s room and head back into mine to slip some sneakers onto my feet. I wasn’t going to bother with putting myself together to see Hide. I slowly went downstairs, waiting in the dark cafe until the blonde texted me, saying he arrived. Once I leave the cafe door, Hide rushes up the steps next to me and pulls me into his chest. I wrap my arms around his waist and breathe in his scent. My body instantly relaxes, and I melt into Hide’s hold.
“What happened?” The blonde’s olive eyes search mine to make sure I’m okay.
“A lot…” I squeeze my arms around Hide, “I don’t want to talk about it if that’s okay. I just want to be with you.”
Hide pulls back from our hug, and his soft, slender fingers grip my chin and lift my face toward his. “I’m always here for you, (Y/n).” He releases me from his hug but laces his fingers through mine. “When we get to my apartment, I’ll make us a hot cup of coffee, and we’ll snuggle on the couch while watching a movie.” The blonde smiles at me, and I feel my heart warm up. “You could even stay the night if you want to?”
A soft pinkness blooms on both of our cheeks from his question. It wouldn’t be the first time, but it would be the first time it was deliberate. “I would like that.”
We made it to Hide’s apartment, and I removed my shoes at his door and followed the blonde boy into the kitchen. I took a seat at the dining room table and watched Hide as he grabbed a bag of coffee grounds and began brewing us some coffee. The bitter scent mixed with the overwhelming smell of Hide sets my senses at ease. I thought I was feeling better, but being here with Hide proves I’m only starting to feel better now. Hide walks toward me as the coffee is brewing into the pot and stops once he’s in front of me. A goofy look spreads on his face, and I look up at the dirty blonde with my eyebrows scrunched together.
“What are you–?” Hide then leans down, cupping the sides of my face in his hands, and starts peppering kisses everywhere. I close my eyes and lose myself in the feeling of his lips as he doesn’t miss an inch of skin on my face. Hide’s kisses slow down as they reach my jaw, making each one linger as he moves his lips closer to mine. Finally, his lips meet mine in a sweet, intoxicating kiss. My fingers find their place in his hair, and I tug at his locks as our kiss deepens. But as quickly as it starts to pick up, he slows it down and pecks my lips one last time before pulling away.
Hide turns back into the kitchen and grabs two mugs, pouring the bitter hot liquid into each. The blonde then opens the door to his fridge, pulls out a creamer bottle, and pours it into one of the cups. Hide hands me the cup of black coffee, and I raise the mug to my lips, blow on the hot beverage, and then take a small sip. I can feel it heating my insides; the sensation is pleasant. We enter the living room and settle on the couch together. Hide lies across the sofa, and I crawl on top of him and snuggle into his chest. He puts on some comedy movies, and I do my best to pay attention, but the sound of Hide’s heartbeat and his body heat drifts me to sleep. It isn’t long before I fall asleep on Hide.

AN: I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG
First, let's talk about that moment between the reader and Yomo... HAD ME CRYING. I debated removing it and saving that for a later scene, but it felt right when I read this back.
Second, there is a reason why Hide gave the reader that necklace when he did, and why he said yes to lunch with the three doves. Comment below with your guesses on why! You'll get the answer in later chapters!
Third, ahaha... Amon thinks the reader is an attractive, strong, independent woman. That's why he has his moment of looking the reader up and down after the reader explains how she moved on her own. Nothing will happen there besides Amon's attraction (this is a Hide fic!), but  Amon won't be able to forget how you ate off those chopsticks. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Fourth, I originally planned to have the reader fight alongside Kaneki during his first fight against Amon, but I was STRUGGLING with this. The storyline didn't flow, and I needed something that sounded good to me. I was like, "Wait, the reader should fight with Touka!" I also really liked the idea of having Mado know that the reader was a ghoul before he died, so I went with that!
I have so much planned for volume four, and I'm excited to write down these ideas that have been swimming around in my head! Volume four is the one chapter I've been looking forward to writing since I started this story! So, I hope everyone sticks around for it!
Thank you for reading my story! I hope you've enjoyed it so far!

Tumblr media
Yandere Mikey?? Boy be prepared for random bursts of emotions, possessiveness, mood swings and irritative behaviour...you might actually think he is the one who is on his period lmao.
Yan!Manila Mikey is a very possessive and protective person, and expect him to become even more overbearing and clingy.
Doesn't like you going out in general cause it makes him anxious, you are so innocent and the world is so scary, he's just so worried about your safety. But he cannot control your life so he's made peace with it (correction: tries to make peace with it.)
But while you are having the big red? Oh boy..you are not going anywhere. You'll stay in bed, Mikey would get you soup, cuddles, watch Pride and Prejudice for the nth time yada yada, he'll do anything.
He'll bring you your favourite snacks and drinks and cuddle you the entire time, he'll massage your back give you forehead kisses, and basically loves pampering you during this time!
But if you have to go out because of some stupid class or meeting at work? Expect him to show up during lunchtime with a hot meal :) It's annoying but endearing. (please eating cold food during periods is so weird uhuhu)
Mikey would keep track of your menstrual cycle to know when to expect your period. This way, he can be prepared and have everything you need. Mikey is highly protective of you all the time, but he becomes even more so when you're on your period.
Mikey is also a little bit possessive when you're on your period. He doesn't want anyone else to see you in your vulnerable state.
Probably the only time he wouldn't get angry if you give him attitude. He knows that you may be more irritable or emotional than usual, and he's always prepared to handle it.
You can cry as much as you want to. He'll hug you close and whisper sweet nothings to you, he's not the best at words, but you appreciate it nonetheless.
Plus it's advantageous to this koala because he loves sleeping and you guys can thus stay longer in bed.
Would give you a lower back massage to help you relax, he's pretty good at it too!
Doesn't care if you soil the sheets accidentally, he'll wash them for you without any problem. I have a drabble for this here: Shark week!
Mikey's overprotectiveness can be a bit suffocating at times, but he truly believes that he's just trying to help you.

At first sight II Chapter Seventeen
(m!reader x Bonten!Haruchiyo Sanzu)
Fluff/slash/reader is male/cursing/BontenTimeline/drugs and alcohol mentioned/violence/blood/death
All characters that appeared in the Tokyo Revengers manga and anime belong to Ken Wakui.
Words: 3506
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You knocked gently on the door of room 7, and when the light above the number pad changed from red to green, you pressed the handle and entered.
The room was neither large nor overly small, and at the end of it was a large window that took up almost the entire wall, giving VIP guests a perfect view of the dance floor, the DJ podium, and the bar in the corner. The glass was slightly darkened, letting you know that a special foil had been used to block outside viewing, which was a great solution considering what could happen in such rooms.
Music blared from a set of speakers placed in various places around the room and you noticed that it was turned down, for which you were grateful.
The room itself was dark, with only the colored lights of the dance hall occasionally sweeping through the interior, giving you some sense of where each piece of furniture in the room was located.
You noticed that in the middle of the room there was a rounded couch, similar to the one you saw in the previous nightclub Tomoko had taken you to, and with another flash of colored lights, you saw a figure sitting, or rather almost half-lying, who you assumed was watching what was going on below.
Suddenly, the smell of cigarette smoke reached your nostrils, suggesting that the figure had lit a cigarette, and you moved closer.
“What do you want?” The figure asked, moving his hand away from his face, and as you got closer, you saw the glowing end of a cigarette.
“I need to inform you of a complication in the Takenaka case.” You said, deciding that you had to tell the truth. “I’m not working on it.”
“Hmm.” Sanzu hummed, taking another drag on his cigarette. He was calm, suspiciously calm. "What did you do to cause this to happen?"
“Nothing special. Other cases piled up and we were divided into teams. Each team was given a different case.”
“Who’s working on Takenakas?”
“Two good detectives, they have more experience on the job than me and my partner.”
“More experience, huh?” The man laughed. “You’re totally useless. As usual.”
That hurt. “I have permission from the commander that if they don’t solve the case by Friday, I’ll take it over.”
“Oh? Until Friday? Do you think you have that much time?” The man’s tone was a little sharper, but it still wasn’t the reaction you were expecting.
“We don't have anything better. I don't even know what stage they're at right now.” You admitted and began to roam the dark room with your eyes, trying to see as much detail as possible in the flashes of colored light. “I thought about whether we could complicate things a bit. You know, Sanzu, just to make sure they don't make it by Friday.”
The man shifted slightly in his seat, turning his head in your direction.
“Do you want to sabotage your fellow detectives?” He asked, slightly amused.
“Wouldn’t be the first time in my career.” You answered truthfully and the gangster took a slow drag on his cigarette.
He exhaled slowly and clicked his tongue. “Something’s going to be arranged.”
Your eyes caught sight of a figure huddled at one end of the couch and you thought it was the guest Riku had mentioned.
“I didn’t know you weren’t alone.” You lied and the man looked in the right direction.
“Pay no attention to her. She's asleep.”
“Asleep? In your company?”
“Why not? She's tired.” He said calmly, but you could tell by the tone of his voice that he was smiling cheekily. “Tell me, L/n. How did you know where to find me?”
“I have my ways.” You lied smoothly, not taking your eyes off the woman's figure. Something was bothering you. “Is she here of her own free will?”
“What are you suggesting?” He asked, slightly irritated. “None of your fucking business, L/n.”
“Sanzu.”
“I don’t have to explain anything to you. These bitches will do anything for drugs and money, she’s a regular chick.” He growled, taking another drag on his cigarette.
You looked at him when he moved, but Haruchiyo just put his feet on the table where there were several empty alcohol bottles and two glasses. One still had liquor in it.
“I don't suspect you of anything. That's not why I came here.” You said calmly, so as not to irritate him further. “When I meet with anyone from Bonten, I don't come as a police officer.”
“Anyone from Bonten?” The other snorted, putting out his cigarette in the ashtray he had next to him. He reached for a nearby bottle and took out two pills, which he swallowed without drinking. “What the fuck are you talking about? You saw us once and that was only because Tomoko arranged a meeting for you.”
So, the syndicate's number two still didn't know anything... Funny.
You sighed quietly and, driven by a bad feeling, slowly approached the woman in the room.
“What are you doing?”
You ignored the pink-haired man and touched the woman's face. There was no reaction, and when you turned her head gently towards the flickering lights, you saw her blank gaze. Her lipstick was smudged, and a trail of what you assumed was dried vomit ran from the corner of her mouth to her chin.
“Sanzu, did you give her anything?”
“I mentioned she was sleeping, right?” The other grumbled in response. “She got fucked for a dose of drugs. Same as usual.”
You checked the woman’s pulse and looked at your interlocutor. “Call your guys.”
“For the hell of it?”
“She’s dead. Overdosed.” You replied calmly.
At first Sanzu stared at you as if you had made a very tasteless joke, but after a moment he jumped up from his place on the couch, knocking one of the glasses with his foot, which shattered on the floor and rushing over to you to see what you were talking about.
“Fuck, fuck.” He cursed when he realized you were telling the truth. “She took the usual amount. The usual amount.” He went back to where he had left the bottle of drugs and poured its contents onto the table. He counted the pills a few times and cursed as loudly as you had heard only a few times in your life. “That bitch! She took more than I let her!”
“Uh-huh.” You looked at the woman again. She overdosed herself, but you were sure that if she didn't take a larger dose right away, once Sanzu figured out how much he had left, she would still be severely punished. Maybe she would have ended up dead anyway. “Call the guys, we need to clean this up.”
“It's because of you.” He growled, reaching for his phone. “Everything has been fucked up since your name was mentioned.”
Ouch... “Did you know her long?”
“Fuck you.” Came the reply and he gave a few commands into the phone before putting it in his pants pocket.
“Sanzu, I need to know. Who could be looking for her? How easy is it to connect her to you? Who saw you together?” You started asking the standard questions, looking around for the woman's purse or phone to secure.
“A lot of people know she was hanging around me for drugs.” The man gave you his answer after a short while.
He walked over to the body and took the expensive necklace off the woman's neck, then unplugged the earrings from her ears.
"What are you doing?" You asked, seeing what you thought was an unusual behavior from the man, but you couldn't be sure this time.
"She got them today." He replied, putting the jewelry in the pocket of his jacket, which was lying on the back of the couch. "Nobody saw her in this."
Your heart pounded as you realized that there had to be more to it than just sex for drugs, otherwise Haruchiyo wouldn't have bought the woman such an expensive gift.
"What if she took pictures and sent them to her friends?" You asked and the man froze for a moment before he walked to the other end of the couch and pulled out a small women's purse from behind the cushion, from which he pulled out her phone.
He unlocked it without any problem and began searching through it. "Fuck. She took pictures, but didn't have time to send them to anyone. At least that much." He said with relief, turning the device off completely.
“Did you use protection?”
“Who the fuck do you think I am? An idiot?” Sanzu turned his head sharply in your direction and you shrugged.
“Sometimes there’s no time for this…”
“Yeah, I had a condom.” He quickly walked over to a small trash bin that was in the corner of the room, near the door, and began rummaging through it. “Fuck. This was supposed to be a regular night at the club, not this shit.”
You watched him for a moment, your thoughts increasingly turning to what could really connect him to the now-dead woman.
Before the time-leaps, Sanzu had relationships with all sorts of women, both lasting more than two months and less than a week. It often happened that you yourself suggested various girls to him who could fit the gangster's requirements, and more than once he managed to build something out of it.
Too bad everything usually went downhill because of Haruchiyo's instability and sick jealousy. Well, maybe not counting that one student that Sanzu had to get rid of by force and ultimately...
Finally the pink haired man found what he was looking for and cursed.
“Pass me the lighter.” He threw over his shoulder and you knew what he was planning.
“That’s probably not the best idea.” You said as you walked up to him with said lighter in your hand. “The smoke detectors might go off.”
“Should I take all the trash, seriously?” He asked, irritated, and you looked inside the trash can.
“There isn’t much. A paper bag will do, or we can just take the whole bag.”
“You carry it.” He answered you after a few seconds, and you put your lighter away, grateful that the man had made a more sensible decision.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door of the room, and after a second, there was a quiet sound suggesting that the lock had been unlocked with a magnetic card, and the two security guards you had dealt with earlier entered. One of them pulled a large suitcase behind him. Large enough for the woman's body to fit without any major problems.
"Everything's ready, boss." One of them said, and the other guy calmly walked over to the couch, opened the suitcase, and tied the woman's hair up, as you guessed, to prevent it from getting caught in the lid of the suitcase or to simply not leave any hair behind. “We'll take her out the back exit. Are you coming with us, boss, or…”
“Yes.” Sanzu replied quickly and went to the couch to put on his jacket. He gathered his things and turned to you. “Pack the bottles and glasses. Especially the broken one. She drank from it.”
For a split second you couldn’t believe your ears how freely and calmly he gave you orders, but you were even more surprised by your own obedience, because you were just finishing carefully putting the glass into a garbage bag.
“Shit.” One of the security guards cursed and looked from you to Sanzu. “She won’t fit much, boss.”
“Do something to make it work. We don't have anything better.” Said the gangster and you knew perfectly well what would happen next.
“Can I?”
“We have to. We have to get rid of her completely anyway.”
The words had barely left Sanzu's mouth when the sound of her arm and leg bones breaking was heard, causing a slight sense of disgust in you. You had to admit to yourself that you were no longer used to it.
You used to do this type of stuff yourself and many much worse ones, but with time-leap everything has changed. Well, maybe most of it...
There was a quiet click of a suitcase being closed and you were all ready to leave room 7 when the man you had come here to meet smiled cruelly at you.
"L/n. Are you here by car?"
"Yes."
“Excellent.” The smile never left his face, and the glint in his eyes and the scars at the corners of his mouth made him seem more menacing. You had a feeling where this was headed. “Then, for my own safety and as insurance for the future, you’ll come with us. You’ll be my driver tonight, and believe me, if you try to twist things and use this whole thing against me…” He gestured to the suitcase. “You can be sure I’ll return the favor and strike much sooner than you. All you have to do is give me the opportunity.”
You looked at him in silence for a moment, completely unsurprised by what he had just said.
You smiled and tightened your grip on the garbage bag you were holding.
“I didn’t expect anything less. Let’s not waste any more time.”
As soon as you stepped outside the nightclub, where a lot of people were still having a great time, two security guards with a suitcase headed towards a black car parked nearby, which didn't seem to be eye-catching, but immediately suggested to you that it belonged to the underworld. Or maybe you just knew what to look for because of your profession and experience.
“So, where's your limo?” Sanzu joked and you led him out of the alley you were in, and after a moment you pointed out your mid-range Toyota. “Seriously?” He asked, not hiding his disappointment, then burst out laughing. “You drive this?”
“The important thing is that it drives and, to be honest, it's trouble-free. I haven't had any problems with it since I bought it, which was almost eight years.”
“Your first car, hmm?” He asked as you stepped closer and unlocked the door. “Ah, almost like first love, huh?”
You involuntarily compared the man standing next to you to the car and in a split second you decided that this was a very, very bad idea...
“Let's say something like that... Yeah.” You mumbled and Haruchiyo got into the vehicle from the passenger side.
You threw the bag of trash on the floor in the back of the car and got behind the wheel.
“Where are we going?”
“Stay close to my guys. They know where to go.” The pink-haired man replied shortly and after a moment you began to drive behind said car.
Out of the corner of your eye you noticed Sanzu sitting as comfortably as he could and gently running his finger over his buckled seatbelt. For a moment you felt as if nothing had changed.
As if none of the time-leaps had ever happened, but...
“You know I can take you down at any moment, right?” Sanzu asked after a few minutes, watching the road through the window.
“I'm aware of that, yes.” You replied calmly, and out of the corner of your eye you noticed the man moving. When you looked at him, you noticed he was watching you. “What?”
“You’re not scared?”
“No. Not right now.”
“Because you’re driving?” He asked and when you looked back at him you noticed he had his gun on his thighs.
“Because I have Mikey’s word that until I complete the task assigned to me, I’m safe.” You replied, focusing on driving again.
You pulled onto the highway and judging by the direction Bonten’s car had taken, you figured it would be a longer trip. You could bet you were headed to the waterfront.
“Mikey could always change his mind.” Sanzu said very casually and you nodded.
“You didn’t have time to inform him of the complications.”
“Tsk... He could always change his mind sooner. Like right after you left that night.”
“True, but tell me one thing, Sanzu, but honestly.” You looked at him again. “You would wait that long to kill me? Apart from the fact that you were in my apartment.”
Haruchiyo was silent for a moment, his face set in stone, before he holstered his gun under his jacket and laughed quietly, resting his head comfortably against the headrest of the passenger seat.
“No. I wouldn't wait a minute.”
“Thank you for being honest.” You sighed quietly, focusing on driving behind the car again. “The waterfront?”
“Hmm?”
“You want to drown her?”
“Ah... Why not?”
“Don't you have, so to speak, a contract with an incinerator?”
“L/n... She was my ex, not trash.” He said, feigning indignation, which you shrugged off. “Okay, maybe she was trash... To some extent, but I almost pulled her out of her own shit.”
Unbelievable. “Just to drown her in yours?”
“Hey. Watch your mouth.” Sanzu's tone was sharper, but it didn't last long. “Now that you've met mine, when should I drop by to meet your little lady?” He chuckled. “Her safety would be a good safeguard for you to get the job done, don't you think?”
You winced slightly, but it didn't go unnoticed by the gangster riding with you.
“Oh, no kidding. L/n.”
“Yeah, looks like you're late.”
“No, no, no.” He leaned toward you. “That doesn't change anything. Your feelings for her must still be strong. It's still a good idea.”
“Uh... No. She's pushed it too hard. No way.” You pursed your lips. “I wouldn't worry about it too much.”
“Fuck.” The other mumbled. “I thought you were the good guy, and here you are... It's like I'm hearing the old you.”
“Maybe I haven't changed as much as you think, hmm?” You threw him a quick glance. “Garbage incinerator.”
“What?”
“There's still a chance to change direction.” You said calmly. “There'll be an exit in a few minutes that'll get us where we need to be. I'll take it upon myself.”
“Do you have any dealings with the incinerator?” Sanzu asked warily.
If only one, thanks to you... “Trust me. There won't be a trace of her.”
“How can I trust you? You're in the police. We live in two different worlds and follow completely different codes in life...”
“Really?” You asked quietly. “So what am I doing here, offering you another way to get rid of the problem?”
“You're baiting me.”
“You have a gun, a mental disorder, and two bodyguards. You can get rid of me too and it will be over.”
“Mikey hasn’t changed his mind.” Sanzu reminded you and you nodded, letting him know you knew that perfectly well. “Where did you get the connections at the waste incinerator?”
“I helped someone and maybe paid a not-so-exorbitant price... Maybe mentioning a few words about Bonten...” You started to explain, but at the mention of the syndicate Sanzu’s hand shot out in your direction and you felt the cold barrel of a gun on your temple. “With the consent of whomever it takes, of course.”
“Who?” The other one growled.
“Ask your buddies. Where the hell am I supposed to get the money to pay whoever needs it from the waste incinerator?”
“I don’t know anything about that.”
“Ask them later. Now let the security guards know we’re not going to the waterfront.”
“Fuck you. You won't tell me what to do.”
You held your breath, waiting for the shot, but at that same moment, as if a sign from God, the pink-haired gangster’s phone rang. He cursed and fished his cell phone out of his jacket pocket with his other hand.
“What do you want?” He asked nervously, but all you could hear was a male voice you couldn’t identify. “What the fuck are you talking about, Kokonoi?”
Ah, Koko... Thank you...
“And how the fuck do you know he was at the club, huh?” The man started to move his gun away from your temple. “What? Nowhere. Huh?...” Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed he put the safety on the gun and put his hand on his thighs again. Could it be...? “Yeah. Okay, I get it. Fuck...” He hung up, then immediately dialed another number. “Get off the highway at the next exit. Change destination.”
He put his phone in his pocket and you rode in silence for a while.
You kept wondering what Kokonoi had told him that made the gangster listen without much protest.
“Tomorrow at the same time as usual and in the same place as always, there will be a package waiting for you from Kokonoi.” Sanzu finally said in a voice that sounded rather dry. “What the fuck is going on, L/n?”
“After today's adventure, I guess you'll have to ask your leader that question.” You answered him calmly. “You have to find out about everything. It's about time."

Always
-- Sano Manjiro x reader
🖤 — Tokyo Revengers
📝 — angst, just angst, hurt/no comfort, major character death, some manga spoilers
:a/n — I am /not/ sorry everyone
Tumblr media
He knew that the tears carving their path in your cheeks was the cause of his hurtful words. Words that he’ll never mean no matter what lifetime he’s in. But this was the only way to keep you safe.
And if that came in the form of breaking up with you, breaking your heart, breaking you, then so be it.
I’ll surely pay for this in hell, my love. I’ll stay there for eternity if I have to.
Your sobs are the only thing echoing throughout the area. This wasn’t how this ride was supposed to go but it felt like the right time. It’s the right time to break you whilst you’re ignorant to the brewing storm incoming towards your relationship with him.
A storm caused by him.
“Ji-jiro…please take it back. Take me back, please.” and God, that’s all he wants to do. All he wants to do is tell you that he’s just joking, that he’ll never break up with you. But it’s essential for your safety.
“Tell me you’re kidding and we’ll forget all of this. Tell me-”
“Stop it, L/N. I don’t love you anymore. I woke up and everything was gone. I woke up and you’re just another stranger to me.” It hurts to be the one throwing lies but he knows you’re hurting more.
“We can still work it out! Do I have to change something to meet whatever you desire? I’ll do it, Jiro! I..I’ll chang-”
“L/N.” ice cold tone cuts you off, leaving goosebumps in its wake, slowly tearing you apart. Manjiro apologises in his mind.
“Even if you change yourself, I still won’t fall in love with you again.” he takes a deep breath, one that you didn’t notice with all your tears.
“You’re too boring for me, L/N.”
I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, my love. I promise I won’t ever fall in love again. I promise you that you’ll be taking my heart with you.
I promise you that you’ll never be boring to me.
Silence surrounds you as Manjiro watches with aching heart how dulled your eyes are. How they were slowly filled with agony and insecurities.
Insecurities that he worked so hard to remove only for it to be returned by him, too.
He hated how he doesn’t do anything as your breath stutters as you look at him with utter betrayal. Everything hurts.
But he knows that you’re hurting more even as you nod weakly, giving him a weak smile as you utter an apology that was never meant to come out of your lips.
An apology for being boring for him.
An apology for not meeting his standard.
He can’t stand this anymore. He can’t stand hearing you degrading yourself as you apologise for your shortcomings according to him. So by giving you a last cold look, not even waiting for you to finish and not saying anything back, he turns around, hopping on his motorcycle and leaves you alone at the spot that was supposed to be your favourite. The two of you.
Nevertheless, he hides when he’s far enough and watches over you and follows you like a lost kid as you walk home, heartbroken and exhausted.
As you disappear inside your home, he feels nothing beating inside him.
You took his heart with you.
Tumblr media
“Boss, I heard L/N-san’s back in the country.”
12 years. It took you 12 years to come back. He’s now the leader of the most notorious organisation in the country- something you’re not aware of while he knows what you’re up to.
He worked in the shadows to support whatever your decisions are while you’re in the country and he was utterly lost when he heard that you’re leaving. Bonten wasn’t as big as it was now years ago so he couldn’t do anything while you’re miles away from him.
But you’re back and he got everything now to support you again from the shadows.
He nods at Kakucho, his silver hair falling to his eyes.
“Make sure to keep her safe,” he instructs.
His love for you never died.
And as selfish as it sounds, he hoped you felt the same and at the same time, he’s hoping you found your happiness whilst away from him.
Christmas is around the corner, he hopes you’re keeping yourself warm.
“Where is she right now?”
Two weeks have passed and Manjiro does nothing but watch you from afar. A smile never failing to make its way to his lips whenever he sees you laughing with the Toman founders. He wants to get out from the shadows and launch himself to the light- to you.
But he broke you for your own safety and he’s not going to do something stupid for it to account to nothing.
He endured years of pain and lived in the hell he created for you and the others.
With a small smile, he turns around and lets you be.
Tumblr media
“L/N-san is there again, boss.” three days. It’s been three days since his boys informed him that you’re always waiting at your spot. The spot that became your and his meeting place. The spot where he broke your heart and where he let you take his heart with you.
It was snowing and yet, you’re always there for three days straight until midnight, waiting for something, for someone.
And he knows. He knows because it was a promise between the two of you.
“Let’s always come here during Christmas week!”
He knows that you’re waiting for him and a part of him believes that you still love him like good old days.
And yet, he does nothing. He won’t and can’t meet you. It’s for your own good and he hopes you realise that he’ll never come for you and to you again.
When Christmas eve arrives, he personally watches you from afar. Just like always, you arrive at 3 in the afternoon and wait patiently until the evening. But this time, he sees Draken approaching you and scolding you for staying outside for so long everyday.
(He could hear your conversation through the bug they placed under the bench you’re on.)
“Idiot, I told you to stop waiting.” Draken hisses, rubbing his hands together to inflict some kind of warmth.
“What if he suddenly comes here and I’m not present?” The familiar soft voice disturbs his ears and he falls in love all over again.
“Whatever….how’s your condition?” the wind blows in lieu of your answer, making the hair on Manjiro’s skin stand. What is Draken talking about? What condition of yours? He gives Kokonoi a look and the man immediately reaches for his laptop to get some kind of information.
He sees you giving Draken a piece of paper.
“It’s the second letter I wrote when we decided to make a time capsule.” Draken reaches for it hesitantly, eyebrows furrowing. “What do you want me to do with it? Read it? Read it yourself, Y/N.”
He agrees with Draken with his whole chest. Why do you even want him to read it?
But one look from you, one that Manjiro couldn’t read but Draken was able to, the latter sighs, looking up in the sky with his eyes closed.
He sees you bringing your knees up the bench, waiting for Draken to start.
Something sinister bubbles inside Manjiro’s chest, feeling like death knocking on his doorstep again.
“Y/N, let’s…let’s just go.” he hears Draken plead in a whisper. But you shook your head with a smile. “I want it to be here…please.” you plead, levelling his volume. Draken breathes in shakily, biting the inside of his cheek, holding his tears back.
“Dear whoever is reading this, Are you the one reading this, Jiro? Or maybe Draken? Maybe even Taka? Whoever it is, hello! I’m L/N Y/N, Jiro’s soulmate. It’s been twelve years, huh? I wonder how everyone is doing? Is everyone happy despite Toman being disbanded? Are me and Jiro still with each other?”
Draken pauses, taking a breath. Manjiro closes his eyes and apologises to you in his mind again.
“Though…there’s a part of me hoping that we’re not together anymore.”
That got Manjiro opening his eyes. Did he hear that right? Were you hoping to break up with him all those years ago? Why? He’s confused and lost.
“You know, I want to apologise for letting you inside my life. I never wanted to be the cause of your grief.”
Manjiro refuses to believe what he’s hearing. He’s sure you and Draken know there’s a bug under the bench and decide to prank him.
“I’m sorry for not telling you about my condition.”
He sees you slowly leaning towards Draken as if getting unconscious.
“I’m sorry for suddenly leaving because I wanted you to forget about me. I wanted you to forget that L/N Y/N existed in your lives.”
Before he knows it, he’s getting out of the car, frantic footsteps taking him to where you are.
“But hey, always remember this. I want you to remember this, L/N Y/N”
Manjiro starts running, wanting to catch you in his arms before you completely close your eyes and let your body fall on Draken who’s now crying silently as he proceeds to read the last part of your letter, ignoring the fact that you’re slowly slipping away from life besides him, granting your wish.
“Sano Manjiro, your Jiro, will always be your soulmate.”
And because it is kinder than goodbye and the three words,
“Let’s see each other again in another lifetime or timeline, Jiro.”
He catches your head before it completely collides with Draken’s shoulder. The latter wasn’t even surprised at his sudden appearance as if he knew that he was watching, that he was going to come.
Draken says nothing, opting to cry silently to himself as he ignores Manjiro who’s now holding your body against him, desperately seeking your warmth.
“Y/N, lovelove I’m here, wake up.” he says, gently shaking you, cupping your cheek with his bony fingers. “I’m sorry for taking so long but I’m here, love. Baby, please open your eyes.” he pleads, voice shaking.
“Please…not you, too. Not yet…” he already lost too many, he’s not going to lose you, too. “Come on, baby, it’s almost Christmas.” he whispers.
Silence answered him along with the rapidly decreasing temperature of your body and he breaks.
He breaks and he holds you tight against him as if you’ll disappear more than you already are.
A few metres away from where they are, the clock in the city rings, indicating the day of Christmas.
A few metres away from the city where the clock strikes twelve to celebrate Christmas, a drowned guttural scream covered in grief and madness goes unheard as the person holds his lover's dead body.
He was never meant to be saved by you. He was always meant to be saved by another.
But you.
You were always never meant to be saved.
No matter which timeline.
Were you?
A/N: hoped you enjoy this sudden angst from me. author regrets everything (nothing)

Inupi got out of the driver’s side and instantly opened the back door, feigning a deep respect for the one that got out. Taiju straightened himself to his full length and waited for Kokonoi to get out and catch up with him from the other side of the car. Inupi solemnly closed the door and clasped his hands behind his back, taking up position next to the car. Koko whipped a clip-board out from under his arm and started flicking through some papers. Taiju pulled his jacquet straight before looking up and down the building like he owned the place.
Takemichi couldn’t help but snicker a little as they watched from behind the corner of the building. Inupi spotted them and passed him a quick wink. Taiju almost always looked like he owned the place and that was exactly what they were playing out. Takemichi shook his head amused.
“What’s the revenue of this location again?” Taiju barked at Koko, causing Inupi to almost burst out laughing.
Koko flipped through the papers on his clipboard again, glancing at the guy that was leaning against the wall near the door quickly. “About ten million in the last quarter, sir,” he said following along brilliantly.
Taiju adjusted his tie as he looked at the man next to the door. “Can you please not smoke next to the entrance of my establishment?” He growled as he walked up to the door. “It stinks up the entrance,” he added with a menacing glare before stepping in.
Inupi almost lost it as he looked at how the guy started to cower in Taiju’s presence.
