Somewhere between an introvert and extrovert; while I like to be alone, I’m not shy and can talk for hours if in the right mood. I’m pretty private when it comes to myself, though, and don’t open up unless I’m comfortable with the person. Saying that, flirting comes kinda natural to me..

With you being more straight laced, that might teach him to advocate for himself more often. “Open and dirty minded” screams Sam 🤣🤣 As philosophical as some people make all the boys out to be, they truly are just like 12 year old boys. Laughing over fart noises, cracking dirty jokes, and hazing on each other constantly. That’ll come with Sam, so buckle up for the buffoonery! Something tells me you’ll gladly deal with it 👍

You’re middle ground of introversion and extroversion speaks to Sammy. He often is so light hearted, glowing, and happy that we tend to overlook his intelligent, ambitious, and tame side. I’m certain there are many people that would speak to those characteristics. As well as entertaining you, I think he’d stimulate your brain with teachings and discussions about substantial topics (then stimulating other things along the way— 😉)

2) on what do you disagree with other fans of your f/o?

It's a bunch of little things, but I think the main one is what he's like in private. A lot of people write him as still being quiet and calm when at home, but honestly? I see him as the type where as soon as he's with people he's 100% comfortable with or if he's having fun doing what he's doing, he's going to be one of the loudest and proudest people there, not caring how loud he is or if people are looking. And at home? Same thing. He's in his space where he's comfortable, of course he's gonna be loud and proud and himself wholely.

4) do you feel like you have to defend your f/o all the time?

No, not really! He's very well-liked in the fandom!

6) what are some tropes that fan art of your f/o tends to follow?

Dark colors that are starkly contrasted by neon colors is the main one. Also heehee very tall and lanky--

8) do you even like the source your f/o comes from or do you only watch it for them & nothing else?

Simply put, Pokemon is one of my hyperfixations and has been since I was a child and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I fucking love Pokemon and have been watching hardcore nuzlock let's plays all week.

10) how did you feel when you realized “oh of course i had to like That Character”?

I'm gonna be 100% real with you, I was so fucking surprised. It's not often that characters that align with my music tastes are made (last one I got was Roxie in BW2). So when it was shown that he's actually pretty damn gentle in some instances and does his best to look after his own, I melted. I wasn't even angry. I was actually really happy that I'd have someone who I could listen to my music with and they'd appreciate it just as much as me (especially because I don't look like the type to listen to stuff like Three Days Grace, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, etc). Also, what I imagine his aesthetic to be outside of his gym uniform? That's how I used to dress and still dress sometimes (but tbh once I introduced color into my wardrobe I couldn't go back).

Please for the love of god stop with the constantly trying to shoehorn Piers into a ship because he was asked to take a selfie with a character and that they talked about some exhibition matches they had. The Galar League is a lot like a sports league AND it's POKEMON god dammit of course people are gonna battle and train with each other. Please. And also, I headcanon this man to be demisexual, I won't go too much into it since this is an SFW blog, but people can be on the ace spectrum and enjoy sexual activity. Asexuality is not as black and white as some people make it out to be. I hate it when I find headcanons about him where either he's entirely sex-positive or he's entirely sex-repulsed with no fucking in between. I hate it. I fucking hate it. Like, yeah I may be self-projecting a little when I say he's demi but like, I'm sorry you can't stop me.

hot milk tea, thoughts and feelings

I’ve only mentioned it briefly, but I’ve said that I’ll be taking a break from my SetsuAyu series - mainly because of my uni workload though.

But for now, I have a lot of thoughts about the entire thing as a project as well as myself as an artist. So I figured that I’d write a reflection of sorts (warning: it gets kind of personal).

Can you believe it’s been 3-4 months since the series started? I can’t, and I’ve been the one drawing all of these!! If you’ve been reading my work, I’ll say it over and over but I really appreciate it!!! Like I’m dead serious!!! Completely!! Utterly!! Without a doubt!!! I love all of you!!!

When I posted that first comic, I didn’t think it’d get the positive reception that it did get. Like, I’ve been producing basically entirely Muse content for years and suddenly decided to tap into Nijigaku? You could argue that it didn’t get that much attention, but either way, the attention it did get surprised me. I was so happy that people were engaged (and it still makes me stupidly happy, like on a level where I’m almost embarrassed to admit HAHA)

Recently I’ve just uploaded the bonus for the 3rd update which wraps up that part, and it really just clicked - that I really have invested soooo much time into this series. 36 pages now! And we’re only 3/10 main updates in!! I have so much passion for this - like a fire that can’t be put out. Every single update has something that I want to communicate/show so I always feel fired up. Heck, if you’ve spoken to me during the process you’d catch me always saying “I’m excited for the next one!!!” while working on it LMAO. It’s been my longest string of non-stop work. Usually I feel burned out more quickly but I was always so excited that I couldn’t stop! You’d find that I’m usually in a  state of conflict bc I alwaaaays want to talk about it but at the same time I don’t want to spoil anything. (THE NEXT UPDATE JUICY)

I think it’s a clear reminder of why I draw actually. The answer between each artist always differs, but I think it’s something important to be aware of. And well, for me? I’ve realised I’m a passion-monster. Passion keeps my blood pumping 100%. As a result... you could say I might be a more selfish kind of artist. Maybe it’s burn-out from running all those ask-blogs/RP when I was like 13-16, but I’ve realised that I’m having the most fun drawing what I genuinely love. It’s kind of why you’d rarely see me do requests and why I no longer do commissions. That isn’t to say that I hate drawing for other people. It can be fulfilling! But it’s more like - I barely have the time to draw for myself, so drawing for others is kind of a lower priority in general. It’s also why I’ve decided against studying graphic design when I graduated highschool. It’s just not happening as a career.

When I ask myself, “what kind of artist do I want to be?” I always think “Somebody who marches to her own beat and works hard to make content that she loves.” It’s also why I never delete anything - even my oldest art that makes me cringe. Because the me from 5 years ago put her love into that too. It’s really cheesy sounding but that’s how I see it LMFAO. I couldn’t do that to her. And also, just because I don’t like something anymore, it doesn’t mean that no one else does. So I’ll continue to never delete my old work. As a bonus, we get to see how far I’ve come too~.

I feel a little vulnerable admitting something like this and I’m pretty sure I’ve only told like 4 humans, but I think my #1 goal as an artist is that I want people to be able to look at my work (that I actually put my heart into) and think “this person loves this” or “this person works hard”. If you can do that, and sincerely feel the feelings I put into my comic, then I’ve already reached my goal. Can people tell how much I love these characters? The series? The concept? Can people tell how much work I’ve been putting into these updates? Can people tell when I’m having fun? It’s something I think about a lot. The idea of that people might think so makes me tear up HAHA - I get really sappy thinking about these kinds of things. And well, if people can’t tell then I’m not working hard enough!

That isn’t to say that I’m always putting my life-blood into everything I make. I’m mainly referring to the stuff where I do. I think it’s pretty clear when I’m pumping a lot of love into something. In general though, there’s always an intention for me to like communicate some idea or feeling and doing something like that requires maybe a bit of love~.

I feel like that as a character, Setsuna really resonates with me a lot. In personality? Not at all LMFAOOOO (she’s such a nice girl!!). More because of her ideals and principles. After typing like everything that I did up until this point, I bet you can guess why. I’ll keep it short and simple though, since this post is getting stupidly long.

Basically, I really resonate with her drive and passion as both an artist, and just in general actually? I’m a believer in that if you’re passionate about something, you can spread that passion. That’s the mentality I have with my art. If my love shows, then maybe other people will understand why I’ve come to love something. And maybe they’ll come to love it too. If I’m having fun, maybe they will have fun too! Very cheesy, I know, but that’s just how I roll!!!

Like rare pair? New fandom? Still applies. It might take awhile, but eventually either the people who love that thing will find me, or I’ll help people come to love something new (or at least see where it’s coming from lolol)!

Of course I know this is idealistic, but I think that’s fine. It’s no bother to me if someone feels indifferent/ negative towards my work because that’s just natural.

I think it’s a form of communication and that’s what drives my art. I’ve been intending on writing a guide/ or talking about my art process for comics for some time now and I think that’d be the first thing I’d mention? I’m always trying to communicate some sort of feeling/tone/idea and that comes from a place of love y’know.

I feel like I’m saying “love” and “passion” a lot - you can really tell I’m vibing with Setsuna huh LMAO. There are other reasons I vibe with her too, but I won’t touch on that.

Coming back to my SetsuAyu series. You can tell why I’m so happy about it right? The story, the pairing dynamic, I feel like that people are understanding what I’m trying to communicate - that people are receiving my feelings of love for it and that makes me smile so widely. I really put a lot into it!!

This series is the first large project I’ve ever taken you see and I’m so so happy that I’ve been able to get this far! It really means a lot to me. But it wasn’t actually the first comic series I’ve tried to do. I actually had a Muse long-running comic planned years ago - a Dancing Stars on Me! AU but it never came to life. I think it was my lack of confidence that held me back. It might be weird of me to pat myself on the back, but I’m proud that I managed to get going this time!! I’ve actually written the SetsuAyu series in a way that for the first half, I could drop the series if I really wanted to at any point (each part is pretty independent, and that description I always copy-and-paste is all the explanation you really need), but now I know for sure that I don’t want to drop it! I wanna keep going!! Even if it gets tough. Although it might be a little early for me to make such bold declarations, I’m only 3/10 through LOOOL. But that’s just the way I feel right now!

I know it’s irrational and it’s something I’d rather not admit, but an anxiety that’s always looming over me is the idea that I’m not working hard enough - or that people think I’m not? Each comic update...takes like a month right? And a month is a long time. There’s this part of me that is convinced that people think I’m lazy for working so slowly. And I know it’s not true!! It doesn’t make sense for it to be!!! But like I said it’s irrational.

I’m really proud of this comic y’know. It’s a really big commitment and I’m proud of myself for being able to commit. I work full time 9-5, and I also am in my final year at university. I’m... kind of busy lol. So the huge factor in that month-long update turnaround is just that I don’t have the time to always be drawing. But I try to draw as much as I can! If you have me on discord you might notice me work on it for like 2-5 hours, almost daily before I go to bed (1am). Of course I’m not only drawing, but after I get everything plotted out sometimes that’s all I do. This comic is super time-consuming LMAO - and I try my best to work on it a little at a time.

So yeah, the entire month of comic-production is me drawing every almost every night.

Yeah it, - it’s kind of exhausting. Even though I’m itching to work on my next update, I’ve decided to take a break for uni crunch which is why I say the next one might be two months. It’s really odd though. The other night I was in bed feeling restless. It was so weird not drawing till 1am that I felt like I needed to be doing something. This comic series might have weird effects on my habits...

It makes me anxious thinking that it’d be so long till next update. But I’ll do my best to push that aside ! Hopefully I can get uni done and dusted ASAP! I want them to date dammit...

I've decided that I want to see this series through to the end. It’ll probably be May next year when that happens though LMAO! Please bear with my slow turnaround time. It’s only been 3 updates, but I can already see that I’m improving with each one. With each update I feel like I really learn from the previous and I always feel this sense of excitement with trying out new techniques and trying to create different feelings. I really want to see how the last updates will look compared to the first!  Technically we’re 3/10 (10 is an epilogue), but after 6 I actually stop doing bonuses? So teeechnically I’m like 40% of the way through~.

It might be a little over-ambitious, but I kind of want to print it out and make a hard-copy when I’m done. I’m not sure about what the demand would be if I were to sell it, but I definitely want to print it for myself first and foremost (after touching up the earlier updates of course LOL). It’d be like a physical representation of my achievement. I hope I can make it there.

Anyways, I’ve rambled for far too long. I’m not sure why I suddenly felt like talking about uh, everything but yeaaaah. If you’ve read this far, kudos to you! You now have a window into my soul that I’m still not sure if I’m comfortable with revealing (but I’m comfortable enough because I’m posting this so...)! 

After reading all of this, can you tell why I always get so so happy after each update? It’s the fruition of what’s usually 2-3 weeks of non-stop hard work! Seeing people connect with it always sends me to another realm of bliss and I always feel soft like putty LOL.

Oh, well allow me to be your guide. This will be under a read more because I already know, I’m gonna write a whole essay. Shout out to my ride or die @hellsbellschime.

I don’t think any overtly crazy happened during the good!TVD years. No wait, I’m lying.

The year the spin-off got announced, I believe it was tvguide, that posted an article with like info tidbits for currently airing shows. And one of them, was that Hayley was pregnant with Klaus’ kid. I remember this shit so clearly, man. Everyone was so confused. And then they were like SURPRISE, APRIL FOOLS. Because it was in fact April 1st. So ha-ha we all had a laugh, great. Fastforward to what, late April? Episode 4x20 airs, and it’s exactly what happened???

That whole day btw, the day the backdoor pilot for TO aired was just insanity. I’ll say that about a lot of days in this answer, but that day was really just something else. Like we were delirious, that’s the only way I can explain what happened on here. It was a nightmare but also one of the funniest night’s I’ve ever spent on here. I gotta go back for old time’s sake and reblog some of the shit from that night because we all snapped. And not in the good way. 

The TVD 100th. Now, we knew Joseph was coming back for that episode so they hype was real. Because up until that point, we’d gotten a huge load of nothing in regards to Klaroline. They released a trailer, a short one, that’s still in my favorites folder on youtube to this day. I rewatch it all the time because it’s iconic. And there was literally .002 seconds of Klaroline. It’s Caroline standing and then Klaus says “hello, caroline” and everyone lost their shit so much when it dropped that ‘hello caroline’ trended ww on twitter. 

THE DAY THE NETWORK THAT AIRED TVD IN AUSTRALIA AIRED A PROMO WITH THE KLAROLINE KISS IN 5X11. ICONIC. I literally woke up, logged on at around 11 AM my time, and my dashboard was on fire. It was the BEST. We didn’t know wtf to do, it was amazing. 

Paleyfest. Ohhhh buddy, lemme tell ya. So TVD/TO got chosen to have the CW panel’s at Paleyfest that year. Everyone was on a bit of edge because TO to that point was what, almost done with S1 and Klaroline had been given the mega cold-shoulder despite being the very thing other than the Mikaelson’s that got used to lure people in? After the pregnancy plot from hell, everyone was ready to peace tf out, but we got halted because it was a ‘ohh of course it’s gonna continue’ then they tried to nip Klaroline in the bud with 5x11 and no one was having it. So Paleyfest was where we were gonna get some ANSWERS, DAMMIT. I live on the east coast and the festival was held in the west coast so I wasn’t awake when it was happening. I remember making a post about how ‘going to sleep, and hoping when I woke up the answers were good.’. So I went to sleep, woke up a few hours later like 2-3 AM my time, and checked my blog and the first message I had was ‘don’t wake up stephanie, everything is a mess, stay asleep where everything’s fine’ I—

The gist of that was, they basically set JoMo up to be the bad-cop in shutting down Klaroline. He gave this long answer that made absolutely zero sense. The girl who asked the question about Klaroline, who was like 13 at the time, got called a bully for even asking a question at an event she paid to be at. A mess. And JP was like NO CROSSOVERS, ORGANIC, BLAH BLAH. And Paul was sitting next to her going “why can’t the show’s just intersect”, he was right and he said it. 

I can’t remember if this was S1 or S2, but somebody tweeted something and Carina replied ‘when you’re found dead in your basement with klaroline written on you this is why’ or something like that, that was a ~fun~ night. And then like half an hour later she was like “I’m sorry, I’ll never tweet about Klaroline again just leave me alone” if you’ve ever seen this fandom refer to ourselves as basement dwellers, this night is why. 

NARDUCCI. Can’t forget him. Talk about a man who just didn’t get it. And I don’t mean Klaroline, he just didn’t get anything, nothing in his head has ever clicked, I’m convinced. He used to pick fights on twitter repeatedly. Admitted once that he missed his flight because he was on twitter…arguing with a fan. AND ONE DAY, he decided to just—snap. Went on this hours long tirade against the Klaroline fandom, essentially calling everyone stupid because no one was appreciating the ‘art’ of the show. So when I say it lasted hours, I mean that. Now, you’d think, that he would be done, right? WELL, apparently that wasn’t enough, so the next day, he continued. I remember because I was in this gc on whatsapp, and I remember Erika sending a message to the gc going “omg, Narducci vs KCers round 2″ when I tell you I screamed. The man went on a two-day rampage against this fandom and it was insane. 

S6/S2 of TVD/TO was not a fun time. I can genuinely say it was borderline a chore to come on here during that time. It wasn’t fun, every day someone was in argument with someone from production on twitter. Truly the worst year of the fandom, imo. So S7/S3 rolls around and that’s where shit went nuclear. 

Hillary and I, are minding our own damn business, when someone come’s to us with information regarding the new seasons. This was post-SDCC, so it’s like the lull of September, waiting for the seasons to start in October. And we get approached with information, talkin bout how Caroline’s gonna be pregnant with Alaric’s twins in S7. When I tell you we didn’t know wtf to do. And we had to like wait on confirmation about it but then we found out it was legit and we were pissed. Literally ask us if we wanted to be in the spoiler game, the answer is no tf we did not. And she and I basically spent two days complaining. LIKE UGHHHH WE DON’T WANNA DO THIS, BUT ALSO THIS IS DISGUSTING, WE CAN’T JUST LET THEM SPRING THIS ON EVERYONE, BUT AGHH WHY US. So we chose collectively, as a duo, because das my other half yo, to blab. 

That went over as best as anyone could hope for it to go. Now, flashforward yet again, this time to around late Novemeber/December. I had been sent word that something was going down. TVD/TO lost their Thursday slots and got bumped to Friday’s, so a plan was going on, and they made one. We’d heard that they were rearranging something mid-season because they were gonna make a crossover work, publicly we found out it would be Paul and JoMo that crossover back-to-back. THEN ONE NIGHT—I call it black friday bc  that day was a fucking mess—, a friend of mine was friends with an SCer, I wanna say, and she was hearing word that the crossover did have Klaus and Caroline interact via phone call, but that it was very definitively an ending. Because they spoke about Camille and Stefan, etc, etc. Like a closing of the book type thing. So okay, we were like devastated, everyone on twitter was losing their shit. Everyone was pissed, and @-ing the writers all these crazy, sad things, we were a wreck. Ask Hillary about this night because she, I remember, describes it as ‘logging on and reading what everyone else had and not understanding why tf everyone was mad about it’. It was the first and last time that our roles were reversed, and bless her for it. 

SO WE’RE SITTING THERE, it’s Saturday, and we kept getting more information and we were like…something isn’t right here. So we did a bit of digging, spoke to a few people and waited it out. LO AND BEHOLD, everything we’d heard about the phone call was false. There was a phone call but the CKers and SCers were so mad about what was actually said in it, that a few of em, ring leaders of the feeble minded, made up a version and passed it around their fandoms as legit till it eventually worked it’s way over to us. So we all jumped the gun on fake information, lmfskdnknsks. Rumor has it, you can still hear Hillary yelling ‘I told you so’ at me through our group chat. 

So all was well, I couldn’t tell everyone why not to panic, just that they didn’t need to. Until, this account popped up called tvdspoiler or something on twitter, also saying false information about the phone call. Sending everyone into a panic yet again. I remember this because I was at  kmart with my mom, and the kmart by my house was in a basement so I had no cell service. I was able to send like a couple of messages, and was basically like ‘tell everyone to chill, I’ll clear it up when I get home’ did that in like a couple of hours cause then I had to leave to the midnight showing of the force awakens with my friends. So that day was chaotic, but fun. It was the first time I reached 99+ messages on my inbox, lmao. 

So that all happened like a good while before we actually saw the episode. But cut to a few weeks later. I woke up at 1 AM my time to drink water, was on tumblr trying to go back to sleep. I checked my inbox and there was this bizarre message talking about ‘got some scoop’ and they were like ‘Finn dies in 3x17, Aurora gets put into some weird sleeping spell in 3x18, Camille and Davina die in 3x19, Lucien dies in 3x20′ and I quite literally laughed??? Literally who wouldn’t. Like who tf would ever believe TO had the balls to do all of that when they never killed anyone off. AND, WHO WOULD BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE WOULD JUST STOP BY, SHARE IT AND LEAVE. So I sent a screenshot to Hillary and was like ‘yo did you get this because wtf’. We often got duplicate messages. And we often got messages of people who were pissed about the two previous times we, from the klaroline fandom of all places, had legit info that wound up being true, that they were just waiting for us to fuck up. So we used to get messages of people pretending they were sharing info, and it was just antis trying to make us look stupid. 

SO, Hillary says ‘just answer it because it’s obviously fake’ top ten moments before disaster. I answer it and am like oh haha, and where did that info come from. And they came back like a minute later, saying ‘I have a source’ THEN THEY ELABORATED. They mentioned that Lucien drags Freya and Vincent to Mystic Falls to do this spell with some bullet and etc. So at that point we were like fUCK because that same day we’d found out was in 3x16, which ended with Lucien and this white-oak bullet, having kidnapped Freya. And that’s when we knew, that someone showed up in the middle of the night, spoiled the whole back-half of TO S3—and then left.

The back-half of S3 was so fun??? Every week the info just kept coming true. On the wikia everyone hated me, probably the most anti messages I ever had was during that time, honestly it was great, 10/10 would recommend. 

THEN, at some point in our blog history, Hillary had been getting quite a few messages about PT. And she had this fucking line in one of the messages about Phoebe’s pronunciation with her accent for the show, or lack thereof. And she said “weeches and woves will always have a place in my heart” SO THEM PHOEBE TWEETED IT. THAT EXACT LINE, and we were like was she...? So we shrugged off okay. A few days later, she tweeted “hellsbellschime enough, there’s plenty of other things to watch on tv, I hear mad men’s great.” And I—

THIS WAS ON SOME RANDOM ASS SUNDAY. Like I was lounging around, waiting for the new episode of game of thrones and then WHAM, chaos. AND AS IF THAT WASNT ENOUGH, Leah joined in too. Putting a target on my friends back...about her blog that no one was making them read. You can’t make that shit up. And Jenn actually replied to Phoebe’s tweet and got a reply back, and she was all “you’re right, I’m sorry” and then deleted the original tweet, which I still have a screenshot of btw. And then Leah showed up in Hillary’s inbox with this ridiculous three part ask about how she shouldn’t criticize women in the acting industry because of how hard it is for women in that industry which is true, but it doesn’t make you exempt from criticism??? So not sure where she meant to go with that one.

And I get what you mean about most blogs having no tags, or just 1 or 2 which are just to keep track of things? I mean, that’s perfectly okay!! And I understand that not everyone has the time to leave tag comments to the endless artworks and fanfics and posts, and hence don’t write any. But I agree about those posts looking sorta naked! It’s a little sad not knowing what people think of what they’re sharing.

Artists and authors put lots of effort and time and heart into what they do, so it feels a little wrong to just share without one word of what I thinkabout it, you know? It feels like a lot of blogs just take what they see, without even a little “Good work!”, so it’s a little sad. Mostly if YOU are the creator! Because you really want to know what others think, but it’s so rare that people comment. :C

That’s why I value a lot that creators take the time to read my tags! Because it’s so common that people don’t leave tags, that many creators don’t even bother on looking at them. So when they do and find mine, I feel heard and I feel happy to know that I made them happy!!!

I’m so weird with musicals

Let’s compare and contrast my experiences with Hamilton and The Greatest Showman as examples.

I discovered both musicals about 4-5 months after they came out and hit their initial popularity. As soon as I found out about them I introduced them to my mom to help her get obsessed with them as well, since we both love musicals. Then I never got the chance to see either show in person, so I pretty much became obsessed with the soundtracks, putting together my own visuals from the music. I found videos of songs from both musicals later and both musicals looked completely different from my imagination. So I continued to just listen to the music and picture my own scenes.

A difference between Hamilton and TGS is that, since Hamilton is pretty completely song, it was easy to get the storyline through just the music. For TGS I resisted as long as I could, then eventually caved and read through the plot synopsis on Wikipedia.

I had an internal struggle with both musicals where I came to terms with the fact that the real life people these musicals were based off of were much worse than portrayed in the shows. Not to make excuses for myself, but I used the time period they were from as a big reason why they were the way they were. And after I was upset for a while (both with myself for liking the musicals, and the creators for “glorifying” less than stellar figures [and in TGS’ case, demonizing an actually stellar figure, which I’m still not completely over]) I learned to enjoy the music for what it was. As someone who wants to be a writer I’ve learned to appreciate art as it is, and not force it to be a representation of what it’s not trying to be. The music still entertains me, and in the end entertainment, not education, was the number one objective of both of these musicals right?

Now let’s talk about how I deal with the songs. For both Hamilton and TGS, I didn’t listen to the full soundtrack right away. Because when I am listening to other genres of music, it’s rare for me to like a band’s entire album, and my playlists consist of songs I’ve picked and chosen out of various albums. So I treat musicals the same way a lot of the time, and I listen to a few songs at first, try them out, and see which I like. I’ll make a playlist of just those select few songs. Then, as I get fatigued of hearing the same songs over and over, I’ll maybe try out one I haven’t heard before. And I’ll fall in love with that song, and then I’ll try another and love it, and it just keeps going, until I’m in love with the entire soundtrack apart from one song, that I dislike for some reason like, it’s too slow or too sappy or (in TGS’ case) too much like pop music. But then I’ll hear it again, maybe even accidentally, and I’ll just think ‘dammit. and now I like the entire soundtrack and I have to take the time to update my playlist’.

So now that I’m in love with the entire musical from start to finish, I’ll get into the fandom. I’ll look through tags on tumblr (of course) and subs on reddit, and different aminos, anything to help find people who are just as fixated as me. I followed a bunch of Hamilton blogs after I first got into it, fanart and fanfiction, and bloggers who posted real facts to compare to the musical. I also just follow some people who become legit friends to me thanks to our common interests. (Lookin’ at you, @lena-lemon ) Of course I’m always in the Unpopular Opinions club whenever I join these fandoms, which I suspect may be because I come in so late and am not swept up with the initial emotional hype that sweeps so many people up on their first viewing, then validates it when they find so many people who agree. And with both musicals came the cast fixation. Because both Hamilton and TGS have the purest actors as cast members period. Then I’ll start writing (or drawing, now that I’ve started drawing) my own things for the musicals. And I listen to the soundtrack 24/7 while I’m doing all of this.

Fatigue starts to happen soon, but not with the fandom, typically with the music. This is just me wanting to listen to the songs less, and skipping the songs more. But this is just like giving the soundtrack some healthy breathing room, and the songs get added to my other playlists, so once in a while, as I’m listening to music, a song from the soundtrack will come on, and I can enjoy it again. I’m just not listening to the soundtrack and nothing but the soundtrack any longer. The phases are almost always exactly in that order too.

9, 11, 16 for comics, south park or both

Sorry this is late. I have had no energy to respond to these until now. So here it goes.

South Park9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?I’ll have to say my most disliked characters are probably the same as everyone else: Towelie, Mr. Hanky, the Jakovasaurs. I’m excluding the celebrity cameo characters and focusing on the ones Matt and Trey created. The Jakovasaurs shouldn’t really need an explanation for why I dislike them. They’re loud, have an irritating voice, and the plot in the episode was kinda meh, although I do appreciate the fact that Matt and Trey managed to create a character more annoying than Jar Jar Binks, which was their goal. I didn’t dislike Mr. Hanky so much right away but after bingeing all of the show a second time and seeing a third Christmas special with his character in what feels like a row, I got really sick of him. Kyle you brought this upon us and I hate that about you. Especially since you like Mr. Hanky so much. Towelie is just annoying really. I’m grateful at least that the main four hate him too.

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?Basing it off of the blogs I follow on Tumblr, I’d have to say Randy Marsh. Don’t get me wrong, I dislike if he takes over the whole show but I don’t turn off the TV if he appears. He’s an asshole that pays too much attention to what others think but he does truly care for his kids which I can appreciate. There have been some great episodes featuring him without taking over the episode, like the Pandemic episodes. So yeah, SP hasn’t ruined him yet for me.

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?I’d love to make it so the format of the show was like Season 18. In my opinion it’s probably one of the (if not the) strongest season SP has yet.

Comics. I’m going to focus on Marvel because otherwise I’d really have to search my brain for random comics I’ve read over the years.

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?The Shroud from the 2016 run of Daredevil by Mark Waid. Oh my god I wanted to punch the guy in the face so badly. He kept ruining everything for Matt. I appreciate what he did for the story but he was so frustrating. He never listened when Matt was trying to tell him something important, if memory serves me right, and that’s a trait I hate the most in people.

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?God I don’t think I’ve ever seen an unpopular character, really. Maybe Tony Stark would be my best guess. He’s a very flawed character, which I really appreciate. He comes from a good place but he doesn’t always make the right choices and those wrong choices piss off a loooot of people. Not only that but Tony doesn’t have the best personality. He’s charismatic sure, but he’s also kind of a blatant asshole that still has a lot to learn, etc. etc.. Lowkey kinda wish there were more characters like that. By that I mean the creators aren’t afraid to give a character dislikeable traits. That they aren’t perfect and are allowed to make big mistakes.

16. If you could change anything in the [comics], what would you change?*Claps hands* Quit making big events and let the characters grow dammit. You keep resetting the issues numbers and fucking everyone up for what to read next. It also keeps interrupting the current self-containing stories that the comics are trying to build. Also one more thing, bring back the Great Lakes Avengers. Their reboot barely got a chance and you have the AUDACITY to end the final issue with Deadpool firing them all?

Also, I kinda wish they could have kept the Young Avengers going for longer. The original team for the YA were my favorite and I was crushed when everything dissolved, especially with Eli Bradley leaving the Team. I loved Patriot. YA Vol. 2 did not impress me (both in story and art) and I still don’t know what I think about Noh-Varr. Def don’t care for his relationship with Kate.

Allen’s Anime Update

Well, since my Rambling on Person 5 I’ve gotten a few new follows. So, hello new followers! I’m Allen X and this is my blog where I talk about... whatever I feel like. I mostly do three things on this blog, write essays on whatever topic I feel is important at that moment called Allen’s Ramblings, and do (sort of) monthly post discussing whatever video games I’m playing and anime I’m watching and my opinions on them called the Video Game Update and Anime Update respectively. I tag the video game posts with the fandom tags for the sake of getting advice or opinions about the game. I don’t tag the Anime Update since... talking about anime on tumblr can lead to a lynching in certain fandoms, and I don’t need to get trolling from the anime community. 

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy my blog. 

So, with my to-do list (mostly) complete, it’s time for me to work on the anime update. Sadly, I can’t record it since I have family visiting and the house for Memorial Day weekend and things gets... loud to say the least with all these folks here. But anyway, update time. But before I go onto current anime, let’s talk about some shows I’ve been meaning to talk about for awhile now.

I cannot believe I forgot to mention this series in the last anime update. So, last month I finished watching the first season of Ninja Girl and Samurai Master on crunchyrool. It’s another retelling of the Warring States period in Japan (basically Samurai Warriors time). There’s been a handful of anime that have done this, but what makes this show different from the others is that it stars a cute ninja girl named Chidori, who’s an airhead, a ditz, and an absolute monster on the battlefield. Most of the show focuses on her adventures as a ninja under Nobunaga and her trying to earn the respect of his generals despite being a young girl. It’s very lighthearted and comedic. Chidori is absolute adorable and the supporting cast has been great in showing off her airhead tendencies as well as their own. And I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite portrayals of Nobunaga yet, making him out as the only sane man among his wacky and scatterbrained generals. It’s only four minutes per episode, so I’d recommend giving it a look if you have the time. You’ll be hook on Chidori’s cuteness after episode 1, I can promise you that. And while I’m talking about alternate interpretations of Nobunaga...

Yes, I finally finished watching Sengoku Collection and good lord this series is good. Right off the bat I recommend you guys watch Episode 1, 17, 18, and 21. Episode 1 so you get the context, episode 17 and 18 because they’re the best stand-alone episodes to watch out of all the series, and episode 21 because of how random it is. This show has been a bit of an emotional ride for me. Episodes 17 and 18 nearly had me in tears, and the last episode was just so heartwarming. I don’t even have a favorite character, they were all so good... okay, leaning toward Nobunaga and Keiji, it’s still a tough choice. 

Anyway, this is an older show on Crunchyroll, so I recommend giving it a look, or at least watching the episodes I recommended. You don’t have to worry about having membership or anything to keep up with it.

And with that, I’m done with talking about past shows, onto the update for real now.

I’m so glad I decided to get Anime Strike for this show. Armed Girl’s Machiavellism has definitely been worth the fifteen bucks it’ll cost me to watch this show. Like I said in the last update, this show has great action, great comedy, a great cast, it’s just.. great.... but I should probably go into detail. The fact that every episode has had a decent fight sequence has already sold me. I also like how everyone’s fighting style is different. Nomura uses hand-to-hand martial arts. Rin uses traditional samurai swordplay, Mary uses fencing, Satori uses a mishmash of styles to keep opponents guessing, Wabari uses her pet bear and ninja tools along with her swordplay, and Inaba... I dunno yet, probably Iai based on the opening. I also like the fact that Nomura is still mostly gunning for Rin in terms of affection. Mary is head-over-heels for him too, but he’s mostly going for Rin, something I appreciate.

Something else I should mention is just how good the pacing of this show it. It hasn’t felt like it’s slow down at all. It’s a bit formulaic in structure, but that’s fine. Most of the show has been one episode to show off the new girl, and one episode to defeat them before moving on to the next girl. It’s only recently broken than order with a bit of a cooldown episode, but things look to be picking up in the next one.

For those of you with Anime Strike I recommend giving this one a shot.

It took almost six episodes, but the slow burn that was Re:Creators is just about over. God, this took way too long. I’m not against slow pacing or long times of build-up for a high payoff, but 6 episodes of politics, discussions, and set-up was pushing it. I didn’t mind the politics, I didn’t mind the discussions about art and creation and encouragement to write/draw, but dammit I came here to watch magical girls battle mechas and LN protagonist duel video game bosses, not... 6 episodes of talking. It really says something when the Battle Harem has better pacing than what people are saying is a contender for 2017′s anime of the year. 

As of now I can’t say if the payoff is worth it, but I won’t knock it... yet. I’m hoping for something big, and with the latest episode, something big is bound to happen... or it’s more talking and I become sad.

And... I’m taking a break from Twin Angels Break for awhile. It’s... a monster-of-the-week show, and for those new to my Update, I personally prefer to marathon shows like that since they tend to get very predictable and unpleasant for me to keep up with weekly. Not to say the show isn’t look good, it is, but... this style of narrative is just something I can’t watch weekly. That and episode 4 was just... touching topics and subjects I didn’t feel comfortable watching. I’m not going to go into detail for fear of me reading things wrong, but... I was not impressed by what they were showing and I’ll leave it at that.

So yeah, taking a break from this, watching something else until I can marathon it. So with that said...

It looks like someone heard that I loved watching cute girls that beat the shit out of people with martial arts. So, Crunchyroll has Kenka Bancho Otome -Girl Beats Boys-, a show about Hinako Nakayama, an orphan and martial arts master that joins an all-boy school of delinquents and pretty boys at the behest of her long-lost twin brother, Hikaru Onigashima. There she must defeat all the leaders of each delinquent gang, learn their backstories, win their hearts, and take on the king of the school, her older brother Houou Onigashima. Yeah, this is an anime based off an otome game, but it’s got a cute girl beating up people, so I’m down with it. Hinako is a pretty tough girl despite how cute she acts. And it looks like every character also has a specific fighting style as well. It’s interesting how good all these Batte Harems are this year. 

These are only about 8 minutes per episode, so it’s not too taxing on me time-wise. I recommend this one so far if you like male harems or cute girls punching people.  

Lastly, we have Sword Oratoria, a spin-off/retelling of the Danmachi series from the perspective of Ais Wallenstein, the OP Sword Princess. I’d go into more detail about the premise, but I don’t really feel like discuss the backstory of Danmachi, just know that medieval times and video game mechanics combine in this world, and everything’ll start piecing together after that. I was interested in this anime at first to learn a bit more about Ais since she was such a mysterious figure in the original Danmachi series. I had three main questions: Why is Ais interested in Bell? What is her role and relation to her familia? And how exactly did she get as strong as she is now? So far this anime hasn’t been answering any of those questions, but I hear the actual light novel does... I’m tempted to get it, but I only plan on getting Magical Girl Raising Project in terms of light novels. 

It’s a good show so far in terms of action and a few plots developing, but... it’s more of what Bell didn’t see rather than what Ais saw, and that annoys me a little.

And that’s it for the update, I know I was hyping up how there’d be another anime I’d catch up with in my queues, but this is already getting long enough. I’ll just talk about those anime as time goes on. Anyway, see you guys later. Feel free to message and ask me about things.
