The Jealousy Game Chapter 10
The Full Picture AFTER 3 1/2 YEARS THIS IS GOING TO GET COMPLETED DAMN IT. DR S Is partially why I am inspired again, but I promise I will get this completely finished. Only about two or three more chapters to go, and then it shall be done!!
The library is quiet, as usual, which is a welcome atmosphere for Mukuro. Her nerves are still full of electricity, and the knots in her stomach are tightening the further she walks amongst the dark bookshelves. She feels as if she is on a scouting mission, searching for her target in order to take them out. Of course, she does wish to take Naegi out, but not by death.
The soldier shakes her head. It would not be wise to add any more stressors when she needs to focus. She cannot back down now, she needs to clear the air, and if her sister is working against her, then she needs to act quickly. Mukuro rounds a corner, and there, sitting at a table in the corner with a small stack of books is Naegi…
…with Kirigiri.
Mukuro pauses, and assesses the situation. Since this whole facade had begun, Naegi has been accompanied by the Detective, whether it was in class, or on outings such as herself and Kiyotaka had been. It was as if… no. It couldn’t be, could it? Yet Junko would not have done this scheme if she knew Naegi and Kirigiri were a couple as well…
Except yes, yes she would. She would do exactly that. All Junko wants is to cause despair, and why would Mukuro be the exception?
With this revelation coming to light, Mukuro realizes that this had all been for naught. She should have known Naegi would be taken. Sweet, adorable, caring Naegi. Her heart is pounding in her chest as she looks at the pair sitting at the table in a new light. Naegi is laughing softly, a gentle smile on his face as he talks with Kirigiri with a twinkle in his eyes. Kirigiri in return has a very small smile on her face as she flips through her book, yet it is clear she is listening intently.
How has Mukuro missed all of these obvious signs? She feels her heart sink, and begins to back away. She can’t…she can’t risk Naegi’s happiness, just for her selfish feelings. She’s been horrible, awful. She does not deserve that kind of relationship, not after what she’s done.
This is it, she realizes, this is Junko’s true goal. It’s not to help, no. It’s for Mukuro to feel the one feeling she craves. Despair.
Mukuro isn’t aware of her surroundings, and she bumps into a bookshelf behind her, knocking a book or two over. She flinches and looks at the books now on the floor. A throat clears, and Mukuro snaps her attention back to the pair…the couple sitting at the table. Naegi has a look of concern on his face, and Mukuro can’t help but feel her chest tighten. Kirigiri, on the other hand, looks as though she had been expecting Mukuro, and beckons her to come sit with them. She is at a loss. Everything in her body is telling her to retreat, she should not be here. Yet…she thinks about what Kiyotaka, Chihiro, Asahina, and Sakura have told her. She can’t back down. She needs to face this head on, and even if she’s going to be hurt in the end, she needs to explain everything, lest she wishes to lose the few people who actually care about her, now that she realizes how precious they are. And so she makes her way to the table, hoping this does not end poorly.

A Bede/Hop Fic Idea I will never write.
I have come to the realization that I can comeup with MILLIONS of fic ideas but never have the motivation or energy to write them, at least properly. I am willing and able to write them out as a synopsis but actual detail writing? No. (This does not mean I don’t plan to write more fanfics, but most of the time it’ll just be synopsis’s and ya know what? Fuck it, I’m gonna write them down!)
Alright so we start off with the fact this is Post-Canon, so if y’all haven’t finished the game yet do so before reading further kthx. So once upon a glorious Galar day Hop has been assigned by Sonia to go investigate further into the Glimmer Tangle to check up on different type of fairy type pokemon. He invites Gloria to go with him, and Bede has to go because not only would it benefit him as the Ballonea gym leader, but it would also get him used to his new stomping grounds. Marnie and Victor also wind up joining in, because only two of the three that are in that group are reliable enough NOT to get killed, and they don’t want to risk Bede letting Hop and Gloria do their own thing without a voice of reason.
Opal, being the badass regal fae that she is, also oversees this, and since there has been...a weird distress going on in the fae realm, calls in a favor of two twin fae that owe her (We’ll call them Fawn and Faye, no they don’t have genders shut up). She doesn’t want to butt into Bede’s affairs too much, after all, he’s grown enough to handle himself, but she wants them to at least bring him a protective charm, so at least he has a back up just in case. (At this point the ragtag group of five have already gone off into the Tangle, so she has to have them send it to them.) This should be an easy job, give Bede the charm, and shadow them just in case.
Of course it isn’t.
While the group is travelling, the twin fae manage to catch Bede off guard (probably inspecting a random impidimp or something), and whisk him into a small space that just has the three of them in it. Fawn tries to explain in a grandish manner why they have come, but Bede is having NONE of it, throwing accusations that he’s being spirited away and that he’s not one to be trifled with. While the two of them are arguing, Faye realizes that this is taking a little bit too long, and that Bede’s friends are wondering where he had gone. Unable to cut in and point this out, Faye grumbles and decides to do the only thing they can think of: They take Bede’s place. Hooray!(Not)
So now Fawn has Bede in a hidden bubble, who is pissed at what is happening but unable to leave, and Faye is now playing the role of Bede, which is going somewhat well, the others don’t have a clue...well, Victor does, but he figures it’s Bede growing to be a little nicer, and Hop.
So things are good, grand even, and then Hop has a brilliant idea. Getting the pep talk from Gloria, and Marnie to an extent, he goes to seek out Bede while they are taking a rest in the Tangle. (It’s been a few days by this point, they’re still getting research done, also why are there so many detours?) He finds him leaning against a tree and tapping away at his phone.
Faye is typing responses to Bede’s angry questioning, and also just giving snide remarks. He understands now what has been happening, but of course he isn’t happy about it, and is willing to go to great lengths to bother the twins, since he’d rather be DOING HIS JOB and not trapped in a bubble. Faye just chimes back that they’d rather be at home with their Haunter and not here. That is when Hop pops in. Faye goes quickly back into character, throwing a quip at Hop, and he just bristles and shoots one back, before he starts to stammer and start to get the words he’s been wanting to say for awhile out.
It takes a minute before Faye realizes what’s going on, as well as Bede, and hoo boy this was not Faye signed up for.
Hop is trying to confess his feelings for Bede.
Hop is trying to confess his feelings for Bede, in the middle of the deep parts of Glimmer Tangle, while they are on a research mission and there are different fae trying to sabotage their progress.
Before Hop can get the actual words out, Faye puts their fingers to Hop’s lips, looking down, before glancing up at him. “Stop. Now is NOT the time for this confession, so what you’re going to do is this: Wait until we’re out of the Tangle, and then redo this entire thing, but not as the stuttery mess it is currently.” Then they lean up to whisper in his ear. “Who knows, maybe you’ll even get the answer you’re hoping for.” Before quickly sauntering off to go bash their skull into a tree because THEY DID NOT SIGN UP FOR TEENAGE LOVE CONFESSIONS.
All the while, Bede is also screaming, but not because of Hop, but because GOSH DANGIT HE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG FOR THAT CONFESSION AND HE COULDN’T EVEN DO ANYTHING ABOUT BECAUSE HE IS STUCK IN A GOSH DANG BUBBLE!
So a little while after that, Hop comes to realization that, no, this person is NOT Bede (he realizes this by little things) and after a confrontation and an explanation, is okay with this not Bede, but is still hesitant. Well, throw in some more drama, research, and an angry rivalry between another old Fae and Opal, which came to a plot of trying to whisk Bede off by making him their bride, which winds up being foiled, and the kiddos are out of there! Finally!
At that point, Hop is just like “Alright, we are out, now can we please have the real Bede back?” Which Marnie agrees, although it confuses the heck out of Victor and Gloria who are both like “the real Bede?” (Marnie is observant, she ain’t a fool, she knew that wasn’t Bede the second that Hop said he didn’t actually accept his confession because she knew Bede also had a giant crush on Hop so something was up.)
Faye is extremely happy to oblige, and allows Bede to return to their sight, and he is relieved but still pissed, and Faye just gloats that they all got along better with them instead of him, and the two get into a bit of a fight that has them spinning around a bit, before they both look at Hop and say “You know which one of us is the real Bede, right??” Poor Hop is just like “Uhhhh” but then notices that Faye is giving him an eye signal towards the real Bede, and Hop just laughs before rushing to lift Bede up and twirl him around happily as he squawks in embarrassment, as Faye goes to the other three to apologize. That is when Fawn and Opal appear, happy that they have all returned safe and sound. Faye just is relieved it’s all over with, but tells the rest of the group that “hey, if you guys ever want to hang out, I’m down for that, and no I won’t try and trick you guys into doin some weird shite, lest I wanna deal with the wrath of Madam Opal.”
Before they leave, however, Hop intervenes and is like “I actually have a favor to ask of you.” And whispers quickly into Faye’s ear. A sly grin spreads across their face and are totally down for it, before quickly looking at Bede, who just stares in confusion and dread.
Cut to Hammerlocke, where Leon is currently hanging out with Raihan and Piers (who was dragged by both men in question because he’d rather be workin on his not love songs for the pair at home). Hop calls out to Leon, who turns around, happy to see his little brother, before his eyes widen. There stands Hop, with not one, but TWO Bede’s in his arms, and Hop is waving happily. “Just wanted to say hi bro, before I head off on my date. Told ya I could snag two partners just as badass and gorgeous as you did!” Before quickly placing a kiss on both Bede’s faces, and then the trio leave. Leon and Raihan are floored, and Piers is just wondering if they had smoked something before they left Spikemuth because what the fuck just happened.
Anddddd that’s it. This was long, but here we are. The whole idea as a synopsis. This could have been a multichaptered fic, but I would never be able to write it out without stopping halfway through. (I have only ever finished one multichaptered fanfiction, and that was over a decade ago, so yeah...) Enjoy this thing I guess guys. I might post more ideas at some point, not just for this pairing but for other pairings I have as well. Laters!

Ko-fi Page + Emergency Drabble Commissions
Heeeeeeey guys, so uhm, as you can tell, I made a Ko-fi Page!
Tumblr media
I wasn’t exactly planning on making one, but unfortunately, I kind of needed to. To make a long story short, one of my grants from school got taken away, and I have to pay them 2500$. I don’t exactly have this kind of money, and it’s messed up all my plans for the following year (and any illusion I had of financial stability).
So, if you guys like my writing, please, send me coffee? To make it simple
1 Ko-fi donation = 500 Word Drabble 2 Ko-fi donations = 1000 Word Drabble Etc. This is kind of a weird way of setting up writing commissions, but I really need the funding. I had to pay 830$ out of pocket to start up a payment plan. So yeah. Some examples of my writing: Date Swappers, Boys and Their Toys, Don’t let it end here.
I am willing to write for: Danganronpa Magical Starsign Xiaolin Showdown (rusty but I still can) Stardew Valley Ace Attorney (certain pairings, must ask)
I will NOT write: NSFW content Incest Abuse/Non-con
Please guys, if you can’t donate, at least spread this around, I know I’m not extremely popular as a writer/artist but I need some help. Thank you

The Jealousy Game Chapter 9.5
Crossposted on AO3
Mukuro finally admits the truth to her classmates.
((CUT FOR LENGTH NOT CONTENT))
The classroom is quiet, save for the sounds of the desks being moved across the tile floors. The small group had made a makeshift table for them all to sit at for this discussion. Despite her calm demeanor, Mukuro’s nerves are sending a wave of mixed signals. The soldier in her wants to get this confrontation over with, end this internal fight that’s causing her such strife; the school girl part of her wants nothing more than to run away to the safety of her bed, to pretend this entire day is nothing but a horrible nightmare she desperately wants to wake up from. Yet it’s her friendship with Kiyotaka and her loyalty to her classmates that’s keeping her here, taking a seat at the end of the makeshift table they had made, facing the trio in front of her.
They sit in silence for some moments, Fujisaki wringing their hands nervously on the table, Oogami has her eyes shut as she waits, and Asahina is fidgeting in her chair. Mukuro isn’t sure where to begin, how to explain this entire situation, and she keeps eyeing the door, thinking that she can make up an excuse to go search for Kiyotaka and see if he’s alright, but she shoves the thought from her mind. He needs privacy right now, especially if he’s confronting the man who truly loves him.
Tumblr media
The guilt hits her once again, and Oowada’s hurt face flashes across her eyes. She had failed her mission, her promise to him. She had promised Kiyotaka would not get hurt by her, and yet now who knows if either male would forgive her for her actions? She certainly wouldn’t….
“Ikusaba?” Asahina’s voice cuts through her internal strife, and Mukuro looks up at the three of them. They are giving her worried looks, and she looks down at her hands, once again. She takes a deep breath, before she begins to tell them what’s been going on.
“You….are all aware now that Kiyotaka and I are not really in a relationship, correct?” She looks up to see the three of them nodding at her, wanting her to continue. She pauses, trying to form the best way to phrase everything.
“Before I continue, I want all of you to know that it was agreed on by both of us to put up this fake relationship. So Kiyotaka was aware I did not have romantic feelings for him.”
“But why? What was the point of faking a relationship like that?” Fujisaki is the one that asks this, very confused, and it makes sense, because they are close to both Kiyotaka and Oowada.
“I had asked Kiyotaka for a favor. I needed someone to help me do this, and he’s the only boy I’m close enough with that I was able to ask.” Mukuro glances towards the door again, before she looks back to the others. “If I had known it would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have even attempted this.”
“What were you trying to do by pretending to date?” Oogami asks her the inevitable question, and the soldier steels herself before she answers:
“I was trying to make the boy I like jealous.” Mukuro can feel her face turn pink as she says it, and she’s glad she chose not to say it was Makoto. She’s sure her face would have gone darker if she had mentioned the luckster.
“Jealous? Why would you try to make him jealous?” Asahina goes to lean back in her seat, trying to wrap her mind around the situation. “If you like him, why not just ask him out instead?”
Mukuro remains silent, and gnaws at her upper lip. “I couldn’t...I’m not-”
“Stop.” Sakura says, holding a hand out. All three look over to her. The fighter gives Mukuro a stern look, and crosses her arms.
“Ikusaba, you are a fierce warrior - brave, and loyal to a fault. The confidence you have in your skills… you must apply it to your femininity. I understand how you feel, for I, too, have the heart of a woman, as does Asahina. Seeing you doubt yourself is what will make you lose out on the person you love.” She nods her head at the end of her small speech, and she meets Mukuro’s gaze. “Do not forget you are a woman as well as a soldier.”
Mukuro is touched by Sakura’s words. She had only thought of herself as a soldier for her sister at first, and then her peers. She hasn’t thought about acting as a woman since she was younger, before she left for Fenrir. They had told her to put that behind her, that she only had to focus on her military skills and her fighting.
However, this is not Fenrir. This is Hope’s Peak Academy, and she needs to start pushing the rest of herself into action, and not just following orders. Especially from someone who doesn't actually want her to succeed.
Mukuro lets herself slump in her seat, letting go of her rigid posture, and giving in to her emotions. She can feel a wetness in the corners of her eyes, and as it starts to drag down her face, she’s suddenly captured in a tight hug from Asahina, and her hands her being held gently by Fujisaki. It’s when Sakura comes over and places a hand on her head in comfort that she realizes that she’s crying. She hasn’t done this for so long.
Her chest heaves shakily, and more tears fall down her face. She still tries to keep her sobs silent, but she’s breaking down after years of suppressing herself, of keeping up her soldier persona. It’s here, surrounded by her peers, that she feels emotionally safe; something she never feels with her sister, the person who’s supposed to be the closest to her.
She tells them everything. Through her hiccuping sobs and her shaking, she explains the whole plan that Junko had come up with, how Kiyotaka had agreed to date her for his own learning purposes, how upset she was that she had failed not only Junko, but also Oowada, Kiyotaka, and herself.
She finally settles down about ten minutes later. Fujisaki had taken out a handkerchief and is wiping her face of tears. Asahina has let her go, but is now sitting beside her, and Sakura is still standing behind them.
“Ikusaba, I’m so sorry you were led to believe all those lies Enoshima told you. Those sound like they belong in a bad romance drama.” Fujisaki’s voice is soft yet the annoyance is clear. However, Mukuro can tell it’s not at her, but at her sister. “That’s not how love is supposed to work at all.”
“Yeah, yeah! When you’re ready, you go up to the boy you like, pull him aside, and tell him how much you really care!” Asahina says, pumping her fist.
“If he agrees to go out with you, that is when you both need to communicate and tell each other what it is you want, need, and how things will continue.” Sakura continues, and Mukuro is confident on that part. She has learned how to communicate properly with Kiyotaka on their outings, and she knows she can do that.
“And if you ever need any support or advice, you can talk to us!” Fujisaki finishes, their voice louder, more confident. It’s this that makes Mukuro smile. She believes all three of them, and she has no doubt in her mind that they wouldn’t hear her out.
It’s from this good, safe feeling that her confidence returns, and she quickly moves to stand.
“Have any of you seen Naegi?”
“Naegi? I think he was heading to the library earlier, why?” Fujisaki tells her, and she bows to the three of them before she makes her way to the door.
“You’re right, I need to be straightforward with how I feel. I’m going to tell him.” Mukuro quickly strides out the door, and misses the frantic calls back and the concerned glances in her direction. Nothing is going to stop her now, and she’s confident that she can make this work.

So small update!
I know I haven’t updated any of my fics in a long time. There has been a LOT of crap going on in my life, work wise and just in general, but I’m finally getting back on the right track. Come Sunday I should be okay enough that I can actually start writing again, not just Jealousy Game, but also The Biker’s Doll and my portion of collab with Charlotte!
Also might have some drawings ready too~ so yay for that!

Comfort In Weird Ways
Crossposted on AO3 This was self indulgent nonsense I wrote a long time ago. I mean, I wrote Mondo in a skirt, so why not a bra?
((CUT FOR LENGTH))
It was supposed to be a secret. No one was ever supposed to find out, but of course lady luck had never been on Mondo’s side. He should've known he was going to get caught sooner or later, he'd just been hoping it could've been later than now.
If anyone asked, he could lie and say it was mostly the fault of his classmates or even Fujisaki alone, but he knows deep down he only has himself to blame. He just wishes it hadn't been Ishimaru who found out.
It had started a few weeks prior when some of the class had been hanging out in the cafeteria. Classes were finished and it was the weekend, and the few who were still at the school instead of heading home all hung out together playing games and just enjoying each other’s company. That night it was Mondo, Chihiro, Leon, Asahina, Oogami, Hifumi, Enoshima and Ikusaba. At the moment, a game of truth or dare had been going. So far, Leon had to drink a mixture of coffee and Sprite, Hifumi had admitted that he enjoyed watching My Little Pony (of course he did) and Enoshima had to attempt eating a huge chili pepper that had gotten from the kitchen.
“Now let's see, who shall my victim be?” Enoshima said in a cutesy voice, eyeing her classmates before finally setting her sights on the biker. “Alright Oowada, truth or dare?” Mondo cursed internally. As fun as truth or dare was, Enoshima was known for her crazy dares and pinpointing truth questions. But he'd could totally handle whatever the fashionista threw at him.
“Gimme whatever dare ya got.” And this is what started everything. Enoshima sat back and through for a moment, bringing her finger up to her lips as she pondered what she could make Mondo do, before a sadistic grin spread across her pretty features.
“I know exactly what I'm going to dare you to do! I'll be right back!” With that, the Ultimate Fashionista stood up and ran towards the dormitories. Mondo tried to hold back the shiver that his body was threatening to release.
“Aw man, this should be good.” Leon laughed, and Mondo went to swat at him.
“Should we continue...or do we wait for Junko to come back?” Asahina asked, and the class agreed to continue their game. It had been two more rounds before Junko returned, and she was actually skipping, a bag held in her hands.
“Alright Oowada, here's my dare for you!” Junko said, and she thrust the bag into a confused Mondo’s lap. “I just knew this would come in handy! The company I ordered that from sent me the wrong size, and let me keep it after I sent them a glowing complaint as compensation!” Junko chirped. Mondo opened the bag and looked inside, and immediately after he shut it and his face went scarlet.
“What's in it?”
“Is it a frilly maid outfit?”
“Was it something dirty?”
“Enoshima what the fuck?!” Mondo growled over the chorus of exclamations.
“Your dare is that you have to wear that all day on Monday, and you can't cop out and just stay in your room! Also make sure your shirt is white, I wanna make sure you're wearing it!” Junko grinned, and Mondo cringed as he looked down at the bag in his lap. Suddenly it was gone and Mondo looked up in time to see Leon pull out the articles of clothing (or lack of) from the bag. Some of girls giggled and some gasps were heard, while Leon wolf whistled.
“Damn, this is sexy! Too bad it's getting wasted on Mondo!” Leon laughed and held up the lace lined black bra. It was much too large for Junko’s body, but it looked large enough for Mondo to wear somewhat comfortably. Mondo snatched the bra out of Leon’s hands and flung it back in the bag. “Fuck you Leon! I'll fucking rock this damn bra!” Mondo growled at the red head, glaring daggers until Junko declared that she couldn't wait to see the look on the rest of the classes faces.
Fast forward to that Monday, the day where it actually began. Mondo had woken up extra early in order to prepare himself, hell it had taken him all of Sunday to get ready, but now he stood in front of his mirror, holding the...article...at arms length in front of him. He wasn’t going to lie, but he had originally thought if he were ever going to hold a bra this close to him, it would be taking it of a girl, not putting it on his body. But that idea had also flew out the window when he realized he wasn’t really into girls, but no one needed to know that.
But that was besides the point. Right now, Mondo looked down at the bra once more, thinking maybe he if stared at it long enough maybe it’ll poof itself out of existence. When that hadn’t happened, the biker groaned before slipping the garment on. He had already wasted enough time as it was, and he knew if he didn’t show up for the first class, Enoshima would make him do something worse than this.
Get a grip! His mind screamed at him. It’s just a piece of clothing! What are ya getting so freaked out about?! Yeah, it was just a piece of clothing. No big deal. Mondo struggled a bit as he fumbled trying to reach the clasp on his back (thank God Chihiro was able to show him how to put it on one Saturday, as he almost ripped the garment in half in frustration), but eventually it was strapped on and
Holy shit.
This was weird! What the hell! Why the hell did this feel so...so…
Nice?
No seriously, this wasn’t supposed to feel comfy, it wasn’t supposed to feel cool against his skin and...supportive? It actually fit him, it was kinda snug on the sides but it fit. The only weird issue he had was the fact it cupped out in the front and made his pecs look like actual boobs, but only slightly since the bra stretched more sideways and Chi had taken out the wires. Why did this feel so nice?!
His phone buzzing signaled that he was going to be late(r than usual) and Mondo had threw the rest of his clothes on and headed to class. It was awkward having the feeling of pressure on his shoulders from the straps, but he didn’t mind it all too much. ‘This is gonna be easy!’ Mondo thought, as he strode towards the classroom
It was when he walked inside the room when his peers all locked their eyes onto him that Mondo realized that it was not, in fact, going to be easy.
“Hey, there’s the man of the hour!” Leon called out, and everyone turned to look towards the doorway. Mondo froze, and he felt his face flush slightly, not expecting to get so much attention.
“Kyoudai, you’re 8 minutes la…” Kiyotaka had started to scold him, but trailed off as he looked at him. Mondo saw his eyes zero in on his chest, and he had to keep himself from turning tail and taking the bra off.
“Aw, you actually showed up, and here I was ready to give you such a great punishment.” Enoshima pouted, but she smirked at Mondo’s growing discomfort, watching his face grow darker by the second.
Mondo ground his teeth and quickly stormed over to his desk, sitting down heavily, glaring at the dark spruce wood desk. He refused to acknowledge the giggles and whispers of his classmates. Nope. He was not going to give them the satisfaction. He can do this.
“Mondo...why...er...why are you…” Kiyotaka started, but trailed off, and Mondo fought the urge to bang his head on his desk.
“I dared him to do it on Friday! He has to wear that all day or else I give him a worse punishment!” Junko exclaimed, and a mixture of nods and understanding murmurs spread, and Mondo groaned. Thankfully, the teacher had shown up then, and began the lesson, but not before giving him a funny look. Mondo slipped down in his seat and pretended he was not in class.
It wasn’t until after the humiliation he had gotten during class was over did things look better, and Mondo pretty much was alright during the rest of the day, except for the awkward atmosphere he’d have while with Kiyotaka, although he couldn’t tell if it was because he was wearing a bra or not.
Mondo thought that after that day, that would be the end of it. He dealt with wearing a bra for a day, and he no longer had to think about the lacy black comfy bra he wore.
() () () () ()
“You want me to do what?” Chihiro had asked him in surprise, and Mondo fought the urge to flee.
“I want ya to help me buy another bra.” Mondo repeated. “I know this is fuckin’ weird Chi, but yer the only one I can ask. I mean, I figured you’d be able ta help me cause you’ve bought girly clothes before and I thought “bra’s are girl clothes” and yeah it’s not exactly the same thing but-” Mondo rambled, his voice growing louder and his body starting to shake.
“Mondo!” Chihiro cut him off. Once Mondo was quiet, Chihiro walked over to their computer and began typing something, before gesturing the nervous biker over. Chihiro had pulled up a frilly looking website.
“I use this to order my clothes. I don’t like the pressure I feel when I order clothes in the store, so I order my clothes here. They even have a section for lingerie for men.” Chihiro said, and Mondo felt his jaw drop. Chihiro giggled at his expression. “Don’t look like that. You’re the one who said you wanted another bra. Besides, it’ll be nice knowing there’s someone else who’s like me.” Mondo shook his head, before smiling and ruffling Chihiro’s hair.
So after a week, Mondo had not one, but three new bras. They had a special sale of three for 20$, and considering the normal prices were ridiculous, the pair had jumped on the chance. After the difficulty of getting the correct sizes for Mondo (“Wait there are numbers involved in bra sizes? I thought it was letters?”), they had ordered a white, nude, and gray bra for him.
“All I ask is you tell me how they feel after you wear one for the first time. I’m curious how it goes.” Chihiro had said. “Also, make sure when you wear them, don’t wear white like the first time.”
It had taken another few days until Mondo finally managed to put on one of the new bras. Again, he felt a surge of...something when he put it on, and it actually fit correctly without causing a weird lump in his shirt like the black bra. It wasn’t even noticeable in the mirror! Yet he had still felt some apprehension for when he walked into the classroom, but no one said anything, and he Mondo felt relief wash over him. After that, he was able to get away with wearing a bra about once or twice a week without getting any weird looks or comments from his classmates. Besides Chihiro, everyone was none the wiser.
Until now.
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, and it was one of the weekends that Kiyotaka was staying at the school grounds. So the two of them had decided to go out and get lunch together, have a bro day. It had been crowded around the area, so Mondo had to park farther down from their destination, but that had been no problem to the two, the weather was nice and it gave them a chance to walk off the food. The two had been enjoying their meal, laughing and joking as always, until Kiyotaka noticed that they sky was growing darker.
“Perhaps we should get back, it looks like it will rain soon.” Kiyotaka said, and Mondo agreed. Neither of them had brought an umbrella, and they had taken Mondo’s bike to get here. Kiyotaka was nervous on Mondo’s motorcycle as it was, in the rain it’d be impossible.
They had gotten about a third of the way to where they had parked when it the rain started. It was a total downpour, and the two of them rushed under a bus stop.
“Damn, it really coming down.” Mondo commented once they were safe from the rain. They were on a small side street, and besides an occasional car or rushing passerby getting out of the rain, it was pretty much quiet. “Ya think it’ll let up soon?”
“I hope so, I wouldn’t want to stay here all day.” Kiyotaka had replied, looking up at the sky. Mondo tried not to stare at his friend, but it was kind of hard not to. Kiyotaka’s hair had slicked back from the rain, the lighting from the sky making his face look sharper, more angular, and his shirt was clinging to him, showing off the muscles that were normally hidden. In short, Kiyotaka look extremely attractive, more so than usual. Suddenly, Kiyotaka was looking over at him, and Mondo gave him a sheepish smile. When Kiyotaka didn’t return it, Mondo began to panic.
Shit! He probably noticed him staring. Had he been making a weird face? Did he look creepy? Mondo saw Kiyotaka’s face grow red, and he was sure that Kiyotaka was going to call him out on being a creepy asshole when:
“Mondo...are you wearing what I think you’re wearing?” Kiyotaka asked, and Mondo paused in confusion.
“Huh? What are ya talking about, I’m not wearing anythin-” Mondo looked down at his clothes and
Oh
Oh.
AHHH HE FORGOT HE HAD PUT A BRA ON TODAY! Fuck! He had totally forgotten he put the skin toned one on when he grabbed it while looking for his socks. Now because of the storm, just like his Kyoudai, his clothes had also started clinging to his body, and it had made the bra stand out.
Shit Shit Shit!
“I...it’s uh…” Mondo tried to form an excuse, but he couldn’t think of any. It’s not like he could say it was on a dare, the only believable culprits were at home, and it’s not like he could say it was a lump on his body.
“Mondo, I-” Kiyotaka began, and that was all it took before Mondo began his nervous babble. “Alright look it’s just a bra I didn’t get dared or anything it’s mine I bought it it feels nice and I like how they look and I swear Kiyotaka if you say anything I’ll-”
“Can I see it?”
The pounding rain sounded so distant, and the two boys stared at each other. What?
“...What?” Mondo asked, and Kiyotaka slapped his hand over his mouth. Kiyotaka’s face looked as red as Mondo’s felt.
“I-I didn’t say that! Forget I said that!” Kiyotaka exclaimed, his hands rushing to this motions of his ‘Forget Beam’ before he quickly turned away.
“Hell no, did you just ask if you can see my bra?!” Mondo asked, grabbing Kiyotaka’s shoulder and forcing him back around.
“Ngh! It was a slip, I didn’t mean to ask that.” Kiyotaka said, guilt written across his wet face. “I just...thought it looked good on you the first time you wore one, or what I could see from it. I had been wondering what it looked like without...err…” Mondo was floored. He thought Kiyotaka had felt embarrassed by him that day, not flustered!
“Wait, you ain’t grossed out by this?” Mondo asked, and Kiyotaka shook his head.
“No, of course not! If you wish to wear this, then I will support you! If I were disguisted by this, then how could I face Fujisaki? I have no problem with you wearing a b-bra at all.” Kiyotaka said, and Mondo felt relief wash over him, however it didn’t last long.
“So...you like seeing me in this?”
“Yes!...er...yes, it's very...appealing?” Kiyotaka glanced away again, and Mondo had an idea. There was a chance he’d say no, but he had to risk it...
“Taka, if ya really want, I’ll let ya see it when we get back…” Mondo began, and Kiyotaka perked up and looked over at Mondo once more. “...only if ya answer me one thing.” Kiyotaka nodded, and Mondo took a deep breath before asking:
“Would you wanna go out with me sometime?”
“...Aren’t we already out together?”
“...I meant more like a date…”
“Oh!”
More rain, and a siren was heard in the distance.
“Yes.” Mondo felt his eyes widen.
“Y-ya mean it?” Kiyotaka laughed lightly, going to take the hand on his shoulder and lacing their fingers together.
“Yes, Mondo, I would be more than happy to go on a date with you!” Kiyotaka said, and Mondo smiled before pulling Kiyotaka into a hug.
“Besides, I think it’d be better if only your boyfriend got to see your undergarments, yes?” Kiyotaka asked confidently, and Mondo stiffened, before burying his face into Kiyotaka’s shoulder. Leave it to Taka to make things extra embarrassing, but it was worth it.

The Jealousy Game Chapter 6
Crossposted on AO3
Wrote this chapter for a class assignment, which is why it’s slightly longer and in a different type of format. Hope you guys like it!
(CUT FOR LENGTH)
After a week of awkward lunches, discussions, and attempts to show off (mostly at Junko’s commands), Saturday rolls around. Mukuro sits through another makeover session from Junko, who’s reminding her of how to act, what to do, and how to compose herself before Ishimaru comes to picks her up. They had agreed to go to the park today, forcing both of them to be more exposed and out of their element. As they are walking, Mukuro’s hand accidentally brushes Ishimaru’s, and she sees him visibly flinch, and he mutters an apology. She doesn’t say anything, but she remembers Junko’s words in her mind.
“Be assertive! If you don’t take action, then you’re not gonna get anywhere!” Her sister had said, pointing one of her manicured fingers towards her temple, her voice giving an authoritative tone. Keeping this in mind, she peers down, and when she has a proper opportunity, she takes a gentle hold of Ishimaru’s hand. He jolts, eyes widening. Mukuro looks over at him in concern.
“Are you okay?” She doesn’t release his hand, and Ishimaru looks over at her in surprise. He looks uncomfortable, and her hand begins to drop before he grabs it again, in a firmer grip.
“I-I’m fine! I…just was not expecting it, that’s all.” He says, and he lets out a loud, nervous chuckle. “B-besides! This is what normal couples do, right?” He asks, more to himself than her. Mukuro nods either way, and they continue walking. Mukuro can feel the weird atmosphere lift as they continue, and they are able to have an idle conversation as they make they continue their journey to the park.
Upon their arrival, the pair find it’s fairly crowded, and their grip on their hands instinctively tighten as so not to lose the other. They both look over at each other, confused. Ishimaru lets out a laugh, and Mukuro smiles. The hand holding suddenly feels a lot more comforting, and they continue onwards, making their way through the crowd.
“This is really nice.” Ishimaru tells her, and Mukuro nods. “I was worried it was going to be overly crowded, since it is a weekend, but this is not so bad.”
“I agree. The weather is perfect too.” Mukuro adds, and Ishimaru hums in agreement, before they fall into silence once more. Mukuro chews on her bottom lip. This is what she had been warned about.
“Don’t let it fall into a weird silence! You won’t be able to keep him entertained!”
Mukuro tries to think of a conversation starter, something that wasn’t boring or repetitive. ‘What would Junko talk about? What would she do?’ She thinks, and she turns towards Ishimaru just as someone bumps into him.
“Watch where you’re going, ya nerd!” The stranger says. He’s got straightened hair, and his shirt opened up to show off his undershirt, and the girl next to him glares. Before Ishimaru can say anything, Mukuro steps up.
“Why don’t you watch where you’re going you wannabe?” She says, and her eyes widen as she realizes she had still been thinking like Junko.
“Excuse me? Who do you think you’re talking to?” The boy says, and the girl clings to his arm, glaring at her coldly. He takes a step towards her, and before she can retaliate, Ishimaru steps in front of her.
“Back off, jerkwad. You aren’t going to hurt my girl any time soon!” Is what comes out of Ishimaru’s mouth, and Mukuro gives him a curious glance. Ishimaru never spoke like that…
“Oh yeah? And just what are you going to do about it?” The boy gets in Ishimaru’s face, and Ishimaru’s glare just hardens.
“Wouldn’t you like to know, punk?” Ishimaru shoots back, and he goes to crack his knuckles. The guy sneers, before he shoves Ishimaru back a step.
“You think you’re hot shit? Well, let’s just see about that!” The boy winds his arm back, and Ishimaru takes a defensive stance, ready to block the hit, but Mukuro is faster. She grabs the boys fist, and twists his arm upside down, until his screams in pain.
“Like, if you think you’re gonna lay a hand on my man, you got another thing coming!” She says in a sassy tone, before she releases the boy. He quickly stumbles backwards, not having expected that, and his girlfriend quickly rushes over and coddles him with affection, before she turns her glare at Mukuro.
“How dare you? What kind of girl are you?” She says, and Mukuro visibly flinches. Oh no…she had reacted as a soldier, not as a girlfriend… now she’s done it. She’s ruined everything. She’s failed to be a proper girlfriend, she’ll never-
“The best kind of girl, that’s what!” Mukuro snaps out of her self loathing at Ishimaru’s exclamation. “She’s a kickbutt girl who doesn’t take any crap from anyone, and she knows how to properly defend herself, so she doesn’t have to cling to me like some….whimpering child!” He says, stammering at the end, and Mukuro feels happy, not expecting the praise. When the girl turns to say something, Ishimaru glares at her, and turns to face Mukuro.
“Come on babe, let’s leave these losers alone.” Ishimaru says, grabbing Mukuro’s hand and quickly pulling her away.
() () () () ()
“Oh my goodness I am so sorry Ikusaba! I didn’t mean to act like that!” Ishimaru says as soon as they are both sure the couple and anyone watching is very far away. He bows low, and Mukuro grabs his shoulders to pull him up.
“Ishimaru, it’s okay. It was my fault, I was the one who started that. I apologize.” She bows her head, and Ishimaru tilts his head.
“It’s alright, although I was surprised. You’re never usually so…vocally assertive?” He says, putting a fist to his chin in thought.
“I…wasn’t really trying to act like myself. I had been trying to think of something to talk about, and I had thought ‘what would Junko do in this situation?’ So I had been emulating her…” Mukuro says sheepishly, looking towards the ground, feeling really silly. She waits for Ishimaru to confirm that, but she looks up when he begins to laugh.
“We seem to have had a similar idea, Ikusaba.” Ishimaru says once his giggles have calmed down, and Mukuro raises an eyebrow. “I was trying to figure out a way to sound cool, and my first thought was ‘What would Mondo do in this situation’, since he’s the coolest person I know.” Once Ishimaru says that, everything makes sense, and Mukuro also begins to giggle.
“I think we both wound up acting like fools instead.” Ishimaru continues, and Mukuro nods in agreement.
“Perhaps we should just act like ourselves from here on out.” Mukuro says, and Ishimaru smiles at her, nodding firmly in agreement. It is then that she hears a melody in the distance that she recognizes, and she turns her head. “Do you want some ice cream?” She asks, pointing to where the sound is coming from.
“That sounds lovely, however, I’ll go get it for us. After making you rush away, it’s only fair you get to relax.” Ishimaru says, and Mukuro admits to herself that her legs feel sore, not used to running in heels.
“Sure, I’ll go sit on that bench.” She says, and Ishimaru quickly rushes in the direction of the melody as she takes a seat on the bench, letting her legs relax. She smiles as she watches Ishimaru speed walk off. He may be pretending to be her boyfriend, but he’s starting to become a really good friend in her eyes, and she decides that that is one silver lining to this entire situation.

The ice cream truck is surrounded by young children all craving a cold treat in the heat. Kiyotaka stood back a ways, not wanting to get trampled on by the tiny jumping feet. He would be patient, wait until their parents took hold of them and they each got their ice cream before he went over. Even though Mukuro is waiting for him down the path, he isn’t going to risk letting their ice creams drop because one of the children had accidentally bumped into him. That would be a terrible thing to happen on a date!
As he waits, he looks around to admire the park’s scenery. How gently the trees sway from the slight breeze, the birds hopping around on the brown stone path, eagerly looking for some scraps people have dropped while walking through. The park isn’t extremely crowded today, and it’s tidier than usual. Most of the time he’d walk through it was somewhat littered with wrappers and junk. He’s happy it’s this easy going today; it helps ease his mind. He’s always terrible with largely crowded places. He’d get extremely anxious, and would usually have to excuse himself in order to feel the constricting feeling in his chest finally dissipate. As he continues to wait, he notices a couple that seemed to be looking for something, and when the boy turns around, Kiyotaka is able to recognize him easily.
“Hey, Ishimaru!” Makoto calls out to him, waving happily. Kiyotaka waves back and makes his way over to his classmates.
“Hello Naegi, hello Kirigiri. How are you two today?” Kiyotaka asks once he’s close enough. The girl nods at him in greeting, and continues her search.
“We’re doing alright, just looking for something Kyoko dropped.” Makoto replies, rubbing his neck sheepishly. “I didn’t think I’d see you here, I thought you said you spend your Saturday’s studying at home?”
“I do! However I am currently on a date with Mukuro, and I was going to get some ice cream for the two of us.” Kiyotaka replies, puffing out his chest and grinning. Kyoko pauses from her search to look up at the two.
“…You’re on a date with Ikusaba?” The detective asks, and Kiyotaka nods affirmatively.
“Yes, she’s down that way waiting for me to bring her some ice cream.” He gestures towards the stone path that leads to the parks center, and Kyoko’s line of sight follows it, before she turns back and gives Kiyotaka an inquisitive glance. Kiyotaka tries to figure out what could have said to earn such a look, but doesn’t have a chance to inquire further as Naegi laughs and places his hand on Kiyotaka’s shoulder. The moral compass feels proud that he doesn’t flinch at the contact. He likes Naegi, always there for others, friendly. He can’t think of a single person in their class that doesn’t like the easy-going boy. Its people like Naegi who he aspires to be. He tries, oh he’s tried, but most people don’t seem to enjoy his company as much as they do Naegi’s.
“I’m glad that you’re going out more Ishimaru. You usually talk about how you’re cooped up in your house all weekend, so it’s great that you’re dating Ikusaba. It’ll be good for both of you really.” Kiyotaka looks down at his feet, unsure how to take the unexpected compliment that had been thrown his way. He shuffles his feet nervously, and tries to think of something to say.
“Oh, the ice cream truck isn’t crowded anymore. You said you were going to get ice cream right?” Makoto points out, and Kiyotaka snaps to attention before spinning around. Sure enough, the once surrounded ice cream truck is now open, and Kiyotaka begins to rush over.
“Yes, I must be going! Have a great day Naegi, Kirigiri!” Kiyotaka says as fast as he can as he makes his hasty retreat. He almost scrambles to the ice cream truck and orders two vanilla cones. His mind is racing, moving from happiness to guilt and back again. On the one hand, Kiyotaka is elated that he is making progress on socializing, but on the other hand, he feels guilty that he didn’t even say ‘thank you’ to Naegi for the compliment, and just fled from them all together. As he spots Ikusaba waiting for him where he left her, Kiyotaka realizes that while he has made some progress, he still has a long way to go before he can even consider himself a proper conversationalist.

The Jealousy Game Chapter 8
Crossposted on AO3
Mukuro has a realization; Kiyotaka has a confession.
This one isn’t as long as the others, and it’s the last prewritten one that I did for college. Unfortunately, I won’t really have a lot of time to work on it this week since I’ll be busy with both work and my birthday, but I will try my best to get an update by next Monday!
(CUT FOR LENGTH)
After the park date, the unlikely “couple” was able to feel slightly more relaxed with each other, and the “dates” didn’t feel as awkward as they had initially. If anyone would ask her, Mukuro would tell people that she is comfortable in her relationship with Kiyotaka. That’s the truth: She is indeed comfortable when she goes on “dates” with Ishimaru, because she has found that she honestly enjoys spending time with the moral compass. She’s come to realize that Ishimaru understands her a lot more than she had thought previously, and the familiarity that she had felt when working together has formed into a strong bond that she doesn’t wish to ruin.  She’s never had anyone to really talk to besides Junko, and as much as she loves her sister dearly, it’s hard for her to talk to her about certain things without being considered boring, especially after she had voiced her concerns to Junko a few weeks ago. Ishimaru has become a great ally to her...maybe a friend if she’s feeling selfish.
...Selfish...Mukuro grimaces. She’s been feeling quite selfish a lot lately.
The café is close to empty, with a quiet hum in the background as the low jazz music plays over the radio. Mukuro sits with a warm cup of coffee in her hand, not looking at the boy sitting across from her. Her stomach is in knots as she tries to think of something, anything to talk about, her sister’s suggested topics sounding meaningless as she thinks of what to say.
“Mukuro? Aren’t you going to drink your coffee?” She finally glances up at Kiyotaka, concern etched on his pale face. “It’ll get cold if you wait too long.”
Mukuro sighs in frustration, leaning back into the maroon booth seat and looks up at the ceiling. She’s beginning to realize how hopeless this plan is. What are they still doing this for? Clearly she hasn’t got Naegi’s attention, and why would she? She was just plain, boring Mukuro, or as her sister would call her, a disappointment. Even with the flattering make-up, the brand new wardrobe, and a “boyfriend” of her own, Naegi hasn’t looked her way once! He congratulated her and Kiyotaka, and that had been it. If he was jealous at all, he would have shown it by now, right?
“Mukuro, correct me if I’m wrong, but…” Kiyotaka trails off, and Mukuro looks over at him again. Kiyotaka picks at the cuticles on his fingers before he continues. “Are you alright? You haven’t said anything since I picked you up, and I thought we were supposed to be having a joyous conversation?”
Mukuro feels guilt churn in her empty stomach. Kiyotaka, despite his loud and boisterous nature, is very naive, and just as socially inept as she is, only having two friends, and has never been on any actual dates before. He should be going on dates with someone who he actually likes and enjoys being with, with someone who actually loves him. Not pretending to be on one with her just so she can use him, which is what she feels like she is doing.
“This is pointless.” Mukuro finally says the repeating thoughts in her head. She tucks her short black locks behind her ears and continues, “This ‘date’, this ‘relationship’, this is all pointless!” As she goes on, her voice begins to go up in both volume and octaves as she releases all of the feelings she’s been sitting on for days. “You shouldn’t be going on fake dates with me; you should be going on dates with someone you actually like! And it’s obvious that Naegi doesn’t like me! Why would he? I’m nothing but a disappointment. I don’t know how to talk to anyone, I scare people away because I’m too ugly, and I’m a boring conversationalist! I don’t know why I’m even trying.” Mukuro finishes, panting heavily, glaring at the small white coffee cup in front of her. She doesn’t notice that she has the small table in a death grip until gentle hands attempt to pull them off. She blinks before she looks at Kiyotaka, and she’s surprised that it’s not shock written on his features, but hurt.
“Mukuro, I’m going to be honest with you.” Kiyotaka speaks slowly, finally getting the distraught girl to let go of the table. “I agree with you that this is a pointless endeavor, pretending to be dating.” He holds fast as Mukuro tries to pull her hands away, “But I don’t believe in anything else that you said. You aren’t a disappointment; you’re very good at what you do. You don’t scare people off; it’s more that you don’t give people a chance to really get to know you. And out of all these ‘dates’ that we’ve been on, not once have I found you boring.” Kiyotaka finally lets go of her hands and fixes a stern glance in her direction.
“You’re very smart, you’re knowledgeable in many aspects that I wish to be. You can be funny when you don’t expect it, and I have had a lot of fun.” Mukuro feels her cheeks heat up at the unexpected praise, and Kiyotaka’s face eases into a smile. “You’ve taught me a lot about how dating works and I think I finally have enough confidence to be able to ask someone out myself.” Mukuro raises an eyebrow at that; Kiyotaka hasn’t mentioned there was someone he likes before. “But if there’s one thing I think that needs to be done, it’s to end the façade of a relationship.” Kiyotaka says, and Mukuro nods. He’s right; this has gone on for long enough.
“If you want Naegi to know how you feel, you should tell him instead of trying to make him jealous!” Kiyotaka says, and Mukuro’s good feeling deflates.
“I couldn’t possibly do-“
“You most certainly can, I’ve seen you be assertive and confident when you help me out when doing our student council tasks at school. Just look at it like that and let him know how you feel.” Mukuro hesitates for just a moment, before finding her resolve. Grinning, she takes hold of her now lukewarm coffee cup.
“I’ll tell him tomorrow, at the end of school.” She decides, and Kiyotaka nods before lifting up his cup.
“To future conquests!” He says, and Mukuro raises her own cup to join his toast.
“To new relationships!”

The Jealousy Game Chapter 7
Crossposted on AO3
Ikusaba wonders if the plan is actually working.
This is a connecting chapter for the next one, and I keep calling it chapter 6.5. It’s a little shorter than the others, but here we are.
(CUT FOR LENGTH)
Mukuro shuts her front door with a small sigh, her smile dropping from her face. She had just said goodbye to Kiyotaka after their park date, waving her new friend off happily, but her mind is a mess. She slowly takes off the heels and rubs at her feet, before she quietly enters the house, not wanting to disturb Junko with any loud noise. Rather, she didn’t wish to face Junko just yet, because she’s starting to wonder if her sister’s plan is...accurate.
Junko had told her that to get Naegi’s attention, she had to make him jealous, but from what Kiyotaka had told her in the park, about how happy he was that they were dating, and the fact he was with Kirigiri, it doesn’t appear that her dear sister’s plan was working.
What if...Junko was wrong?
But that made no sense, because Junko was never wrong. This plan had to be correct, there was no way her sister would lead her astray. Sure, Junko had her moments, but she’d always make sure Mukuro was on the right track. So then, why wasn’t this working? Was she not being a good enough girlfriend? Was she missing something?
As Mukuro continues to walk deeper into the shared flat, she festers more and more about why this plan wasn’t working, even going so far as thinking she had picked someone not compatible with her. She pauses outside of her bedroom door, hand resting on the doorknob. That couldn’t be right. Ishimaru had been such a huge help so far, and he’s been really good to her by even helping with this elaborate scheme, he’s been so-
“Ishimaru is a good guy, like a really good guy.”
Oowada’s words come back to her in a flash, and her anxiety spikes even higher. Ishimaru was a good guy, and he shouldn’t have to be helping her with this, especially if this wasn’t working. She promised Oowada that she wouldn’t hurt his friend, and she meant it.
Junko’s obnoxiously loud laughter snaps her out of her reverie. Mukuro turns her head towards her sister’s room, wondering what she could possibly be laughing at. The soldier takes a deep breath, before she marches towards Junko’s room. She knocks on the door lightly.
“Junko? Can I talk to you?” She waits for a response, which she gets in the form of a sigh. The door swings open, and Junko gives her a bored look, before she gestures to go in. Mukuro quickly walks into her sister’s room and stands by the large dresser so not to knock anything over. Junko shuts the door and goes to lay across her plush bed.
“So what is it?” Junko asks her, and Mukuro flinches. Don’t get intimidated, even if it’s Junko. She steels her nerves, and says what’s been on her mind.
“I don’t think the plan is working.” Mukuro says in a smaller voice than intended, but she said it. She watches as Junko sits up and looks at her, eyebrows furrowing.
“What do you mean you don’t think it’s working? You’ve only been at it for what...a week? You can’t expect results that quickly. This kind of thing takes time Mukuro.”
“But Naegi isn’t acting jealous at all.”
“And how do you know that? What are you a mind reader now?” Junko shoots back, annoyance seeping into her voice. Mukuro looks to the ground sheepishly, before she looks back up at Junko.
“No, but Ishimaru ran into him today with Kirigiri, and he told me that Naegi had been extremely supportive that the two of us were dating, not jealous. I’m...concerned that this plan might not work out…” Mukuro trails off as Junko’s face goes cold.
“Oh, what, you’re just going to believe Ishimaru, the idiot who can’t read social cues to save his life, that easily? For all you know, Naegi could have been seething with jealousy!” Junko snaps, and Mukuro frowns.
“Ishimaru isn’t an idiot Junko, he’s been really helpful and-”
“What? Sweet? Kind? Boyfriend material? What are you falling for Ishimaru now, of all people? Honestly Mukuro get a grip!”
“No! Ishimaru is an ally who has done so much for me, and I’m tired of faking this whole thing!” Mukuro snaps at her sister, who looks surprised, but Mukuro keeps going. “I’m tired of pretending I actually like Ishimaru romantically when I don’t feel that way towards him. I’m tired of pretending to be extremely girly and weak when that isn’t what I am. I’m tired of pretending this relationship is real!” She thinks of Ishimaru, who is trying so hard to be a good boyfriend, when he could be with someone else who truly cares about him that way. She thinks of Oowada, and the hurt in his eyes that she’s ‘dating’ the person he cares about most. She thinks about herself, and how she knows that she might not ever be with Naegi, but she would rather watch her friends be happy over her own.
“Are you quite finished?” Mukuro’s eyes widen and Junko stands up. “You do realize that you aren’t faking anything right?” The soldier straightens, confused. “You’re not faking Mukuro, you’re practicing. You’re preparing yourself for when you actually get with Naegi. You’ve never been in a relationship before, remember? So this whole thing with Ishimaru is like a test run.” Junko places a hand on Mukuro’s shoulder, squeezing it tight. Too tight. “I’m trying to help you get ready for that. Plus, you’re helping your friend too, aren’t you?”
“I-I guess so.”
“I know so! Have I ever been wrong before?” Junko asks, and Mukuro shakes her head. “Exactly! Now, do you have any other concerns?” Mukuro shakes her head again, and Junko smiles before pushing her towards the door. “Good, because I have some things I need to do, and you need to wash that make up off of your face before it makes your giant pores even bigger!” Mukuro flinches, but obliges, heading out of her sisters room, uttering a thank you, before the door is slammed shut.
Junko glares daggers at the door. Stupid Naegi! He was supposed to have been home today, according to what she heard earlier in the week, not out with Kirigiri! Thank God Ishimaru was too stupid to realize that he had probably been on a date together, because that would have really thrown a wrench into her plans. Now she has to deal with this headache of an issue with Mukuro! Once again she’s been a giant disappointment, having to grow attached to the stick up his ass hall monitor of all people, and it’s more than likely she isn’t going to go through with this fully.
She walks over to her bed once more, pulling out the recorder she had hidden underneath her pillow. She rewinds the recorder, before pushing play.
“I’m tired of faking this whole thing!”
Mukuro’s little speech sure did give her a lot of ammunition to work with. She has quite a way with words. At least now Junko has a backup plan, having expected something like this to happen. And she knows just the person to send this too in case this whole thing goes south.
The despair hunting fashonista begins to giggle once more. She’s going to have her despair one way or another!

The Jealousy Game Chapter 5
The Big Reveal and a Confrontation
Crossposted on Ao3
I KNOW I TOOK FOREVER TO UPDATE THIS BUT YAY IT’S UP AND RUNNING! Thanks again to @charlotteml1 for beta reading and being patient with me. Hopefully it won’t take me almost a whole year again to upload/finish this!
(Cut for length)
Mukuro is walking down the hallway on her patrol, keeping a diligent eye out for any trouble makers. To onlookers, they would think that she is only thinking of her duty, completely focused as the soldier she is. At any other time, they would be correct, but not today. Her mind is focused on earlier events, specifically the reactions of her peers to the announcement she and Ishimaru had made earlier. It had consisted of many shocked faces, and she had felt a weird atmosphere as some of their classmates had congratulated them. However, it had been Makoto’s reaction that she is thinking about the most. He had come in late with Kirigiri, and Junko had relayed the news to them in a gloating manner.
“Oh, really? That’s great you guys!” He had said happily, giving that beautiful smile of his, and she tried not to blush as she searched his face for any hint of jealousy, but she didn’t have too much of a chance, as Kirigiri distracted her.
“You’re dating Ishimaru?” She asked, as if to confirm what she had heard was true...as if she had been expecting something else.
“Yes, I-” Mukuro had started, but Junko had cut her off.
“Yep! I’m so happy for my sister! They’re just sooooo cute together!” Her voice had been especially loud, and Mukuro almost missed the snapping noise in the background, but didn’t bother to see what it was, instead focusing on Kirigiri’s face, who seemed skeptical.
“I see…congratulations.” Her face had gone blank, but Mukuro had seen a flash of something on her face, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was. Soon after, the teacher walked in, and the lessons began, the reactions had ended there.
This left Ikusaba where she was currently. Now that the class knows that they’re supposedly “dating, she feels extremely anxious. Now she has to be even more attentive to her interactions with Ishimaru, make sure they appear loving enough to keep up the facade. She feels extremely out of her element, but she hopes that it will get easier with time. Ishimaru had asked her if a “date” on Saturday would be suitable, and she agreed. She will admit she feels proud of herself that she and Ishimaru had made a date without Junko’s prompting. Maybe her sister will be proud of her.
A sudden flash of yellow caught her attention, snapping her out of her thoughts, and she quickly leaned back before whatever it was hit her, then looks down to see a broken #2 pencil on the ground. She quickly turns around to see who had thrown the object, ready to detain them and give them a detention slip, and is faced with Oowada leaning against the lockers, giving her an unimpressed look.
“Oowada, why did you throw this pencil at me?” Mukuro asks him, not beating around the bush. The biker straightens up and walks towards her, attempting to intimidate her with his height and build. Mukuro admires his attempt, but she isn’t afraid of him.
“Wanted to talk to ya, but ya seemed lost in yer own little world, so I figured that’d snap ya outta it.” He says, acting as if he did nothing wrong, and Mukuro narrows her eyes.
“Well, you have it. What do you want?” She’s annoyed at the fact that he got her attention this way, and she has no problem letting it show, but she tries to remain calm enough not to snap at him. After all, this is her “boyfriend’s” best friend, it wouldn’t do to be on bad terms with him.
Oowada glares down at her, not saying anything, before he clicks his tongue and averts his gaze. “Look, Ishimaru is a good guy. Like...a really good guy. He hasn’t done anything wrong, and he’ll go to hell n’ back for the people he cares about.” He scratches the back of his neck, color lightly dusting his cheeks. Mukuro’s glare lessens, and the annoyance slowly begins to fade. “Despite that, Ishimaru ain’t exactly...he’s not the best with social cues n’ he’s kind of pushy but he’s really endearing n’ he’ll always put ya first.” Oowada’s voice begins to raise in volume as he continues, and Mukuro recognizes the look in his eyes. She knows it quite well.
Oowada shakes his head, before he glares down at her. “Just...treat him well okay? If you make him happy then...I’m glad, but if I find out that you hurt him in any way I swear I’ll-” He cuts himself off, and his fists turn white as he balls them so hard. Mukuro stares at him for a minute as the annoyance she had felt initially dissipates, and a new feeling takes its place: Guilt.
“I promise you I won’t hurt him.” She tells him, and she means it. Ishimaru has been very helpful, and she doesn’t wish any ill intention towards him. They stare at each other for a minute, before Oowada’s stance loosens up. “I am, however, going to give you a detention slip.” She says, whipping out her notepad, and Oowada just nods, having accepted that. She gives him the slip, and he turns and walks the other direction, waving her off.
She watches him for a moment, before she turns around and continues her treck down the hallway. A knot had formed in her stomach from that interaction, and she tries to push it from her mind as she continues her duties. She doesn’t want to think about how she saw the reflected feelings in Oowada’s eyes, the same feeling she gets when she looks towards Naegi, who still seems so far away from her reach, the feeling she gets when others are able to talk to him, when she daydreams about properly interacting with him and having his wonderful smile directed at her, only for it to never be.
That oh so horrible, gut wrenching feeling of jealousy.
