“My Adventures with Green Lantern,” will follow high school student Jessica Cruz who has her life upended when, according to an official logline, “a Green Lantern Power Ring falls from the sky” and chooses Cruz “to be its champion.” Things get even worse “when more debris from the Lanterns ancient space war arrives – along with their alien foes.” Jake Wyatt is executive producing, and Stephanie Gonzaga is a co-executive producer.
I’m going to die.
I’m going to die forever and ever.
My girl gets her OWN SHOW?! And it seems to be in the MAWS-verse, which is INCREDIBLE. Greatest news I could have received all day.

Okay, 'My adventures with Superman', now that it's confirmed you're going to be having an extended universe, your job is to not get canceled until we get several heroes set up in your world and we can have a 'My adventures with the Justice League' cartoon.
#my adventures with superman#maws#my adventures with green lantern#mawgl#Justice league cartoon#I don't think I'm making a big ask here#Of course we're also going to need a My adventures with Wonder woman AND one with Martian manhunter#I'm going to need at minimum of MAWTJL to have two seasons with the potential of going unlimited after that.

JESSICA CRUZ FANS RISE UP
It is gonna be set in the same continuity as My Adventures with Superman, so I should probably finish watching that (I often get sidetracked with serialized content unless I binge watch oops).
Putting Jess in high school is certainly a choice, but honestly I don't really mind that they're changing up her origin story, because it is a complicated one even for comic books. A quick recap of how Jessica becomes a Green Lantern looks something like this:
An evil version of the Justice League from another universe invades the main one, one of them is a guy named Power Ring who gets killed so his ring seeks out a person who suffers from great fear. It finds Jessica Cruz, who's barricaded herself in her apartment for years after witnessing her friends get murdered. She's stuck with the Power Ring, but decides to try and use her new powers for good and joins the Justice League. In a later fight involving the New Gods, Jessica gets fully possessed by the evil ring and is seemingly killed by the Black Racer, but turns out he took the evil soul from the ring. Jessica is then chosen by a real Green Lantern ring and becomes part of the Corps.
To say this is not a beginner-friendly origin story is putting it lightly. I'm not shedding any tears over the show apparently going for a different one. Honestly I doubt even the most hardcore Jessica Cruz fans are upset by that because her origin story is probably one of the least interesting parts of her character.
Aside from that though, I do hope MAWGL won't shy away from her struggles with anxiety. When it comes to non-comic versions of Jess, I've only seen JL: The Fatal Five and JL x RWBY so it seems like DC's got a good track record with her character when she's a primary character.
I wonder if this version of Jess will be the first Green Lantern from Earth. If so, it'd still be cool to have the other Earth Lanterns show up. Like how cool would it be if Guy was a teacher or counselor at Jessica's high school?
What I'd really love to see is Jessica's friendship with Simon, even if he's not a Green Lantern himself. Their dynamic in Green Lanterns was so good. It's a bit of a pipe dream since DC barely uses him even in the comics, but one can hope.

I’ve seen people criticize or express concern about why Jessica Cruz is a teen in My Adventures with Green Lantern, and it’s because the series is a spinoff of My Adventures with Superman. Clark is still in his early/mid twenties in that series.

We've been waiting for more information on the new DCU. Well today from Deadline we got some updates on projects. I only picked a few... It's a good read.

Superman and Peacemaker: Season 2 are deep into post-production. July 11, 2025 August 2025

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow director, Craig Gillespie is halfway through film production. Releasing June 26, 2026.

Lanterns (starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre) production has officially begun. Aimed to premiere on Max, Early 2026.

A brief update on The Batman: Part II and a possible Season II of The Penguin:
Matt Reeves has "yet to turn in a full script, but what we have read so far is incredibly encouraging." ——— "We don’t know," Safran said. “There are a lot of moving pieces — probably most important Colin himself."

Batman: The Brave and The Bold remains in active development.
Gunn & Safran confirm that Matt Reeves' universe exists in its own timeline & Pattinson will not be reprising his role for this film. There's a possibility that the DCU version will show up before his titular debut: "I wouldn't rule anything out," Gunn said. "He could show up in something else. But the actor doesn’t exist [yet]."

Blue Beetle's animated series is in active development.
Safran expects the executive producers Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer to present the project for a possible greenlight "pretty soon." Miguel Puga is directing, Cristian Martinez will be writing.

My Adventures with Green Lantern has officially been greenlit.
Following high school student Jessica Cruz who has her life upended when a Power Ring falls from the sky and chooses Cruz to be its champion. Things get even worse when more debris from the Lanterns' ancient space war arrives – along with their alien foes. Jake Wyatt is executive producing, and Stephanie Gonzaga is a co-executive producer.

DC Super Powers has officially been greenlit.
Taking place at the Alliance School for Heroes and focuses on new students Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern and Terra who level up their powers under the supervision of Principal Martian Manhunter, in the hopes of one day graduating and becoming the next generation of Earth's defenders. Matt Beans is executive producing, and Michael Chang is a supervising producer.

Starfire has officially been greenlit.
Serving as an origin story that follows her adventures after she uses an ancient spaceship, she discovers on her home planet, Tamaran, to escape and explore the stars. Along the way, she'll meet space biker Crush, plant-loving Fern, and the magical Princess Amethyst of Gem world. Together, they will uncover the deepest reaches of the DC universe, save Space Dolphins, surf technicolor nebulas, and boldly soar into the unknown. Josie Campbell is executive producing, and Brianne Drouhard is co-executive producing.

Teen Titans is officially in active development.
Briefly described as "a group of young superheroes: including Nightwing, Cyborg and the aforementioned Starfire." "It was something that Ana [Nogueira] was really impassioned about, and she turned over an amazing script for us. She's fiddling with that now, but it's definitely not a finished script." — James Gunn

The following DC projects have had problems in development:
Waller - Still haven’t cracked the scripts yet Booster Gold - Showrunner almost joined but lost interest The Authority - “The script had a harder time coming along”

James Gunn says they’ve talked to NetherRealm and Rocksteady about developing more DC games.

Gunn says they mapped out a six-year plan that tells a wider story, resulting in a project akin to Marvel Studios' Avengers films, though "each individual project works as its own thing." "It isn't like they're chapters of an overall story; they're characters that are part of an overall story." DC has set a goal to release 7 projects a year: 2 live-action films 1 animated film 2 live-action shows 2 animated series

A whole bunch of characters are getting shows!
I think the main green lantern well be Jessica Cruz. I'm not to sure if its gonna be in the same universe as my adventures with superman.
And I believe that superpowers well similar to dc super hero girls, with teenage versions of many heroes with martian manhunter as the principal.
I'm not really sure what starfire is going to be about 😅

I'm cautiously optimistic about the new animated Jessica Cruz centered Green Lantern show, I just really hope they take some design ideas from the JL/RWBY crossover part 1; cause I love her look there. A reminder of said design:
Also I'm always going to be rooting for wlw, so c'mon DC gimme sapphic Jessica. Like I'm just saying you could totally drop the whole Kara/Jimmy thing and instead go for Kara & Jessica in their own show.
I'm also keeping an eye on the Starfire one but I need to see more about it to know where I fall, especially since I'm not sure its following forward from MAWS to have that solid base that the Jessica one has.

Hey! So you probably might have seen this, but you might like to know about this...

THEY ARE MAKING A FREAKING GREEN LANTERN SERIES IN MAWS UNIVERSE!!!
Okay so here's my predictions/What I would like to see from the New Green Lantern show set in the MAWS universe.
I would be shocked if they adapted her origin story from the comics because it contains more than a few layers of "Here's what was going on with the Justice league at that time in order to understand what's going on". It's just not a good story for a pilot episode for a tv series.
What I do hope for is that they go in a similar direction as the DC movie 'Justice league vs the fatal five'. In that movie Jessica Cruz is healing from a deeply traumatic event that gave her anxiety, PTSD and agoraphobia. She's now finally able to muster up the will power to leave her home and that's when the ring chooses her. "Wow. We're so impressed with your will power. It took so much to finally get yourself out of the house. Hey, since you've made it this far from your front door, would you be willing to go across galaxies on dangerous missions?"
I love the idea of a Green Lantern (A superhero who is powered by will power) struggles with issues like those. Who has more will power than someone trying to get over something like that? Also it would be a more interesting angle than your standard, "teenager becomes superhero" Which we've seen plenty of time before.
_____________
Next I want to talk about the Lantern Corps themselves. This series takes place in the same universe as 'My Adventures with Superman', right? Why haven't they shown up yet in that series? Metropolis faces enough threats to warrant them coming in, and we saw dead Green Lantern in Brainiac's fortress. No one came to get their fallen brother in arms or his ring?
Here's my theory. At the time of Jessica's joining, The corps are not at full power. They have about 60-65% of the members they would have at full strength. Part of it is due to a space war and part of it is due to some members leaving for other color ring corps.
This explains why they're unable to get to everything they'd want to. Their forces are stretched thin. It also explains why they're recruiting a teenager in recovery, not someone they'd normally invite in, even if she does posses incredible will power.
The Corp's journey to recovery mirror's Jessica's
Having said this, I do hope we can still get to see some of Earth's other GLs, like John, Kyle, and such. I'd love to see them all interact.
_____________
The next thing I want to talk about is cross over potential. I hope that this series is more open to letting other heroes hang around than MAWS currently is, but I'm sure we'll get a crossover with 'MAWS' eventually. Mostly because I can't see why they would share a universe and NOT crossover at some point. There are two ways I can see them going about it.
MAWGL takes place years after MAWS. The whole Justice is put together and Jessica interacts with them occasion after establishing herself as a hero.
They take place at the same time. They eventually team up. Clark is extremely concerned over the position this traumatized teenager is put in. Shenanigans ensue
___________
Last thing is I hope we see more of Jessica's Latine culture. If not for anything else but to hear the Green Lantern oath in Spanish. I just think it'd be neat.
That is all for now.
Will likely have more to say when more info is released.

Out of the blue, DC Studios announced a bunch of projects, including some animated ones.
My Adventures with Green Lantern, while not said to be a spinoff of My Adventures with Superman, has a logo and executive producer (Jake Wyatt) that suggests it is. (EDIT: Wyatt has confirmed this is in the same universe as My Adventures with Superman.) This series will focus on Jessica Cruz, who finds a Power Ring that chooses her to be its champion. Also producing is Stephanie Gonzaga, who, among other shows, was one of the storyboard artists for DuckTales 2017.
Starfire, a cartoon that will be an origin story for the Teen Titan as she escapes from her planet of Tamaran and meets a few friends along the way. There is nothing that suggests this is a spinoff of any version of Teen Titans that exists. Produced by Josie Campbell, a writer for She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and Right Now Kapow, and coproduced by Briane Drouhard, producer of the Princess Amethyst of Gemworld shorts on the old DC Nation block.
Super Powers, which appears to be the DC equivalent of Tiny Toon Adventures, with a group of young superheroes, Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern, and Terra, learning to become the next generation of Earth defenders. Produced by Matt Beans, credited as a writer for Robot Chicken, the Cartoon Network Mad cartoon, and the Dreamworks Trolls cartoons, and Michael Chang, who directed episodes of Teen Titans 2003 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012.
Not listed in this article is an animated feature called Dynamic Duo, which will be a movie about Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Hey, Robin is getting his own movie, and so is another Robin at the same time! Teen Titans Go To The Movies suggested we'd get the Utility Belt movie before then. Details about Dynamic Duo are here.
If it was 2012, it would be easy to assume these shows will come to Cartoon Network, but since we're in 2025, who knows.
