Tuesday, September 20, 2022 (22:22) JEFELEN is on the public record as absolutely LOATHING vampire movies, personally believing the category to indelibly SUCK by virtue of its intrinsic subject matter.

"Mutant Vampires from the Planet Neptune" presents as being a felicitously different beast, however, so when offered the opportunity to sign on as an Associate Producer for this charming b-movie project, I found myself quite unable to turn it down.  Produced by independent outfit 7th Street Productions™, in association with Video Is The Future™, Calvin Morie McCarthy's affectionate tribute to 1950s drive-in fodder (with evident '80s sensibilities) tells the tried and true tale of five teenage friends who embark upon a weekend of partying at a secluded cabin where, unbeknownst to this revelrous quintet, a murderous extraterrestrial vampiric being lurks esuriently in the shadows.  Who will live to escape this close-encounter of the THIRST kind...?

[INTRODUCTION]

FULL DISCLOSURE: I never had any particular aspirations to become a movie producer.

While it's true that I've effectively been making movies of my own since the tender age of five, and then did indeed go on to actively enroll in film school as a teenager, I've never actually received any formal training is this specific field -- this integral aspect of the business wasn't covered within the curriculum of my academic institution, believe it or not.  Thus, with no formal qualifications under my belt, I've essentially been faking it until making it, to be perfectly honest... and I think I've done reasonably well at it, all things being considered.  I mean, no-one else was producing my earliest works -- or any of my personal projects, for that matter -- so I've garnered a fair bit of practical experience over the years, I think it's fair to say.

On a personal level, I've taken especial gratification from giving a pragmatic leg-up to those starting out as filmmakers, lending assistance to their individual productions in a capacity that nobody was willing or else able to afford me back when I was starting out.  While I'm a firm believer that art should never be easy -- without struggle, it has no substance -- I'm by no means of the belief that it should be impossible, either.  To date, I've helped get some amazing product made.  And... some >not< so amazing, heh.  But quality notwithstanding, I do take genuine pride in what has been creatively achieved through these labour-intensive efforts.
