Interesting thing I just found: So I just found a bunch of Instagram accounts made by a regional cast of Spring Awakening from a few years ago (the same production that Sing Street’s Brendan C. Callahan was in as Ernst) and the accounts are basically the cast role playing as their characters. They made posts in their character’s perspective, making their version of Spring Awakening essentially a modern retelling. I’m not sure if it was used for the show or if it was just a fun exercise that the director thought of, but either way I love it. I think it’s a great way to immerse yourself and others into the show, especially a timeless show like Spring Awakening. Here are some pictures of the accounts. It’s really interesting to see what each actor posts as their character, interpreting what they think their character would post about. (You can also check them out for yourself on Instagram!)
The pictures won’t all fit in one post so I’ll reblog to add onto this one.

okay so. I did a lot of these during my Disability History class (I like drawing during discussions) and fun fact actually I was drawing this during one on some parts of Deaf history
The person, a young skinny guy sitting next to me on the park bench, is devouring my favorite sun chips. He was never shy to entertain himself with my fires. Puzzled by his coziness I took a second glimpse at him to see if I knew him. My brain, however, could not recognize him in the slightest. I thought about stopping him but I began to think about my position as a fundraiser in sedekiyas- a none profit organization whose aim is to help the feeble. Has my position as a volunteer helped shape my character? Does my job make me keen on others around me? While I was absorbed with these questions he fastened my chip bag and munched the remaining fries.
Curious to understand his imprudent lack of respect I began to stare at him. Something inside me resisted my animal instinct to rip him apart and I quickly resorted to what I usually do when I get furious- listen to some music.
I grabbed my satchel in an attempt to pull out my ear pods and in doing so I discovered what a schmuck I have been for the past five minutes.
I found my sun chips lodged inside my minuscule bag. I instantly felt embarrassed by my actions. It is not hard to see my obvious blush from a distance. I could not fathom that I was eating a stranger's snack with attitude. In a mere attempt to cover my head with my hands, I remember having distinct flashes of departure. I wasn't functional enough to think clearly until I decided to have a word with him.
"Why didn't you stop me?” I asked while trying to avoid eye contact.
At first, he did not look any special at all But the more I looked at him the more he becomes a man of decided features. His hard hair combined with his thought-full brown eyes allude he might spill wisdom
"Let me tell you about an interesting personal anecdote. One evening, I left a restaurant just ahead of a woman assisting her elderly mum. I approached the stairs and paused to see if my injured knees could make it up. To my right appeared an arm to assist. It was that of the elderly mum. My heart was so touched. That moment deeply resonates with me and built my character for the better." the skinny boy replied.
I was stunned. I wanted to get to know him. In a mere attempt to win his heart, I began to rumble about my job. I flooded him with the success stories of our organization. I began explaining to him why he should join sedekiyas.
He might be one of the most agreeable people I ever met. He accepted my invitation, gave me his contact information, and stressed to me not to forget to call him. We go on to talk about life and we have a lot in common. Before I get enough of him, his phone rang. As he leaves he looks back and said "kindness is free to give but priceless to receive"
The person happens to be Robel Girmachew. Excellence is the only word I can think of that can succinctly describe him. He is now a member for three consecutive years. His remarkable effort to help others is not only attributed to his composure and talent but also to his very nature to help others.
End.
I was too high when I wrote this. So take it easy.
In a modern setting, what jobs do you think the kids of Spring Awakening would have as adults? Like something tells me Hanschen would be a finance bro or something.
