kamala literally died, what, a bit over a month ago? her funeral was 2 days ago. and they're already announcing a new series.

where, yes, she is now a mutant because they want to match the mcu.

the comic is being written by sabir pirzada, a writer on the ms marvel show, and iman vellani, who plays kamala.

i really don't have high hopes for this new page for kamala. I hate that they're doing this to her, I hate that the mcu continues to affect the comics like this. if there's any sliver of hope I have, it's because of iman vellani's passion and dedication to the character.

I really do love artists who are capable of doing very cinematic-like artwork that focuses heavily on character emotions and facial expressions, often slowly between panels. Two examples which perfectly encapsulates this style of visual storytelling IMO are John Cassaday from Astonishing X-Men & Minkyu Jung from Magnificent Ms. Marvel:

I finished and I wanted to share with you, I had my neighbor help me, she binds books, and restores them, as a side job or she use to. She’s a super sweet lil old lady her name is Carol, but she helped me print everything and bind everything, I did cheat a little bit and used a book cover template from a website to help me figure out what I wanted the covers to look like. But but! We finished!!! They turned out so pretty! And now they can sit beautifully in my shelf and I can gush over them and re-read them while sitting in front of my fire place!!

Lady. 😭😭😭 They’re BEAUTIFUL!!! 😭😭😭 You and Carol did a wonderful job. 🥺 I actually think that’s my favourite part lmao—you spending a little time with your neighbour in order to do them. 🥺🥺 Restoring/binding books must take so much patience!!! You and Carol both have done magnificently. 😭😭 I love their covers and how—idk, how weighty they look!! (also off topic but I love the lace table runner 😌)

I think this is magical, Lady. 🥺 You and Carol working on them together, you starting your fic collection—being able to read them by that fireplace. I hope your home is always filled with the stories you love, forever!!! 🏡📚🌷💕
