“History was made tonight … I won Mr Universe,” Jonathan wrote on Instagram.
“The first Australian to hold a Universe title since Jennifer Hawkin’s win 20 years ago … The first Australian male ever sent and the first Aboriginal person in history.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way and who made this possible.
“A huge shout out to all the incredible men I competed alongside. It’s been amazing to get to know you all and learn about your beautiful countries and cultures.
“I can’t wait to bring this home to you all and start my reign. I’m so full of pride and so honoured and so exhausted at the same time.”

Jonathan Berry was also the first Indigenous Mr World Australia in 2019 and was Palawa representative for Sydney WorldPride last year.
Ahead of the win, he told the National Indigenous Times representing First Nations people at the contest was “an immense honour”.
“[It’s] a great responsibility to represent both Australia and the broader First Nations community. This opportunity allows me to showcase the richness of our culture and advocate for greater representation,” he said.
“This time I’m also approaching it from the perspective of inner strength and outer courage. There were so many issues around me wearing the Aboriginal flag at Mr World and I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to really challenge it.
“I’ve come so far as an Indigenous man. I want to show the Universe the strength we have as a First Nations people.”

Empowering the Modern Queen: The Positive Impact of Beauty Pageants on Married Women
Beauty pageants for married women are revolutionizing the concept of empowerment, diversity, intelligence, and leadership. Far from being mere beauty contests, these platforms provide participants with opportunities to advance their careers, address critical global issues, and implement sustainable solutions. Contestants often tackle topics such as climate change, abuse, human trafficking, and freedom of speech, showcasing their commitment to societal betterment.
A primary benefit of these pageants is the substantial boost in self-confidence they provide. Contestants, initially unsure of their abilities, rediscover their strengths through rigorous preparation, including public speaking, fitness training, and talent showcases. This newfound confidence extends into their personal and professional lives, empowering them to pursue their goals with renewed vigor.
Joining DIVA Pageants provides women with training and grooming that is truly unparalleled. Participants receive comprehensive coaching that prepares them not only for the competition but also equips them with life skills that help them excel in various aspects of their personal and professional lives. The training encompasses a wide range of disciplines including public speaking, personal branding, and etiquette, ensuring that the women are well-prepared to handle any situation with grace and confidence. This holistic approach fosters personal growth and empowers the participants to become winners in life, regardless of the outcomes of the pageant itself. The rigorous training regime at DIVA Pageants thus creates a strong foundation for success in many areas beyond the pageant stage.
Public speaking, a crucial skill refined through pageant participation, requires contestants to engage in interviews and on-stage questioning, enhancing their communication abilities. This skill proves invaluable in both personal and professional settings, making them more effective communicators.
Furthermore, beauty pageants foster a supportive community where participants connect with like-minded women. These friendships often transcend the pageant, creating a network of encouragement and support. This sense of community is particularly empowering for married women, who may feel isolated due to family and work commitments.
Participants often become role models within their communities, challenging societal norms about beauty, age, and marital status. They inspire other women to pursue their passions and embrace their uniqueness, thereby promoting broader societal change. The stage of a beauty pageant becomes a powerful platform for empowerment, diversity, and unity, far beyond physical beauty.
The preparation and determination required for pageantry are extensive, involving the development of interpersonal communication, oratory skills, presentation, fitness, and overall personality. Pageants empower individuals with a vision of becoming stronger and helping others do the same, fostering unity in diversity.
One of the recent success stories is Apeksha Dabral, the Winner of Mrs. India Empress of the Nation 2023. Her journey with DIVA Pageants has been nothing short of transformative.
Apeksha Dabral, a psychologist and mindset coach, has triumphed in the world of pageantry, winning titles like Mrs. India Empress of the Nation 2023 and Universal Woman India 2024. Her journey began with Mrs. MP 2022, and her success continued with DIVA Pageants, which she credits for transforming her life. A passionate advocate for women’s menstrual health, Apeksha balances her roles as a marathoner, MMA/BJJ enthusiast, and mother. Her achievements highlight the empowering impact of DIVA Pageants, offering a platform for women to showcase their skills and grow personally and professionally.
Additionally, many beauty pageants have a philanthropic component, encouraging participants to engage in charitable activities and social initiatives. This involvement not only benefits the community but also enriches the participants’ lives. It provides them with a sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing that they are making a positive impact.
In essence, beauty pageants for married women are not just about crowns and sashes. They are platforms for personal growth, empowerment, and positive change. These pageants allow women to embrace their full potential, rediscover their strengths, and redefine their roles in society. Chronicles of a Future Education Reformer; The Pendulum Swing of School Models
Alternative Title: What is Journalism? How do I find an editor? How do I find a platform that will hear me?
Dear Anyone in The Industry in Los Angeles,
I love you. I love music. I love cinema. I contest few love d_rama as much as me.
Let’s begin today with some quotes for thought. I am not certain I have much of an audience, but it feels good to get my reverberations out of my body. I have just began (“official” certificate based) training to work as a meditation coach for mothers and children.
“The highest ideal in a democracy is justice for children.” -Grace Abbott
“The best thing to spend on children is time.” -Anonymous, on pin purchased in Burbank, CA
“Children do not need presents. Children need presence.” -Jillian Stacy
Los Angeles left me low and dry. Did you know they spent $291 million on Mission Impossible 7? I am aware that it was earned back double fold. It certainly funded some ritzy properties in the hills. I’d bet the pools are nice. Could I come over this summer? I could wear something itsy, glitzy, bitsy? No, thank you. I would like to remind the folks at Production Company that there are north of 78,000 homeless children in LAUSD. Do the folks at Production Company know what LAUSD stands for? There is no trickle-down to the children. Imagine if $291 million was siphoned into the school district. Imagine if every single teacher in the school district was trained in trauma-informed care and mindfulness based stress reduction techniques. Imagine if every classroom played solfeggio frequencies and classical music before test administration. This would not cost $291 million. I volunteer to train everyone for free. Who wants to hire me? Should we ask science its opinion? Science is already aware that classical music activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the vagus nerve. Imagine if we taught teachers about the vagus nerve. Rates of teen suicide and depression have never been higher. I suppose the ‘ol red and blue pilots would recommend pharmaceuticals? There is nothing wrong with pharmaceuticals for mood disorders, but the rising rate of mood disorders is not discussed; more pharmaceuticals means more green.
I miss when green was only grass. I miss when the mirrors were only water. The infrastructure needed for much of this suggested reform is already in place. There are organizations equipped to train teachers and organizations equipped to armor schools with MBSR technology, but there is little discussion about any of this. Even the Los Angeles Times has a hairy history when it comes to reporting on reformation of LAUSD. I have read all about it at the Santa Monica Library, a safe haven for the homeless and for women just like me.
I want to make an offensive joke about the LAUSD acronym, but I was raised to turn the other cheek. The United States has over two million prisoners. India and China combined have approximately 2.1 million prisoners. Consider this. Also consider this.. the United States has military bases in over 70 countries. The United States has military bases in countries that have no foreign military bases. Thank you Patrisse Cullors for illuminating these realities.
I am a little tea kettle whistling all the way to Paris, the moon, mars, beyond, and back. I exist in an echo chamber where my screams go unnoticed…or worse.. noticed and ignored.. just like the children. I have no impressive pedigree and I am writing on Tumblr so I really cannot complain too much. Opinions do not mean much unless you are someone whose opinion means much. How to have an opinion that means much? Money helps. It also helps to speak positively about the country you reside in. There are many beautiful things about the United States, but from a global vantage point I reckon we are enemy #1. It is no wonder ByteDance is suing the United States. It is no wonder P**** loved to tango with Mr. Trump. Will I be outcast for mentioning his name? Should I layer this post with pictures of cartoon flowers, satire, and my photos of my body to keep it all Kosher? I was raised Catholic. My high school was Jesuit. They took us to tour a mosque. They taught us all about theology. They taught us how to have respect for all religions. They taught us how to love God and how to love intellectualism.
Did you know that public education has not been majorly reformed since the progressive era? Do they know when this was in Los Angeles? Likely not given that public education omits much of American history. My wrists ache.
The last attempts at reform: 2001, No Child Left Behind under the Bush Administration; 2009, Race to the Top under the Obama administration. In the words of Paula Lillard Preschlack, The Montessori Potential, “each of these efforts used testing aligned with curricula to improve outcomes. Many educators argue that these changes have caused more problems than solutions for children in classrooms. The recent reform movements do not address the main obstacles in education today. In fact, American educators have been working with two extreme systems, both flawed at the core, for more than 150 years.”
I am not done with this message. In fact, this is just the beginning. If you read all of this, I thank you for your grace. I thank you for your time. Vote Purple. Read some Charles Eisenstein. A more beautiful world is possible.

Speak Like a Queen: Expert Tips for Public Speaking in Mrs India Pageant
Public speaking is a vital skill in the world of Mrs India Pageant. Contestants are not only judged on their beauty but also on their ability to communicate effectively and engage with their audience. Whether delivering a heartfelt speech or answering challenging questions on stage, strong public speaking skills can make all the difference while participating in Mrs India International Queen
In this blog, we will explore expert tips that can help aspiring Queens enhance their public speaking abilities and shine in the spotlight.
The Importance of Public Speaking in Pageantry
In the Mrs India pageant, the ability to articulate thoughts clearly and confidently can significantly influence a contestant's success. Public speaking is not just about talking; it is about connecting with the audience. Mrs India Contestants often face panel interviews, on-stage question-and-answer sessions, and personal statements, where their communication skills are put to the test. Mastering public speaking helps contestants convey their messages effectively, express their values, and leave a lasting impression on judges and audiences alike.
Tips from Public Speaking Experts
Practice Regularly: Consistent practice is the pillar of effective public speaking. Set aside time each day to rehearse your speeches and presentations. Practicing in front of a mirror or recording yourself can help you observe your body language and refine your delivery. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will feel when it is time to perform on stage.
Know Your Audience: Understanding your audience is key to delivering a compelling speech. Research who will be in attendance and tailor your message to resonate with their interests and values. This not only engages the audience but also helps you connect on a personal level, making your speech more relatable and impactful.
Master Body Language: Non-verbal communication is just as important as verbal communication. Your body language can convey confidence and authority. Maintain eye contact with your audience, use open gestures, and avoid crossing your arms, which can signal defensiveness. Practicing positive body language can enhance your message and keep the audience engaged.
Utilize Storytelling: One of the most powerful techniques in public speaking is storytelling. Sharing stories can create an emotional connection with your audience. People remember stories far better than facts or statistics. Craft your message around a central story that illustrates your point, and do not hesitate to infuse emotion and authenticity into your narrative.
Handle Q&A Sessions Gracefully: The question-and-answer round of a Mrs India pageant can be Fearsome, but with preparation, you can handle it with grace. Practice responding to potential questions in advance. When faced with a question, take a moment to gather your thoughts before answering. Speak clearly and confidently, and do not be afraid to acknowledge when you need to think for a moment.
Insights from Pageant Coaches
Expert coaches often emphasize the importance of public speaking in pageantry. As Pageant Coach Sarah James says, "The ability to communicate effectively can set you apart from other contestants. Judges are looking for authenticity and confidence, which come from practice and preparation." Many successful Mrs India winners attribute their triumphs to honing their public speaking skills, demonstrating how crucial these abilities are for achieving pageant success.
Additionally, Coach Priya Patel emphasizes, “Public speaking is about being genuine. The judges want to see who you are and what you stand for. Authenticity can leave a lasting impact.” This insight reminds us that while techniques are important, staying true to oneself is vital.
Conclusion
Public speaking is an essential skill for anyone participating in the Mrs India pageant. By practising regularly, knowing their audience, mastering body language, utilizing storytelling, and gracefully handling Q&A sessions, aspiring Queens can enhance their communication abilities and make a lasting impression
