i find it so interesting that every time sharona romances a guy & monk catches a lie they tell, she's like. "everybody lies on their first date." "maybe he's just trying to impress me." but she's trying to impress them too & she always tells them about benjy, and about monk.

so she doesn't lie but she expects even a decent man whom she would date to lie.

and it reminds me of natalie teeger's intro episode where monk says he can't lie and she says if you're a man then you can lie: "That's what men do." and we see this woman with such sheer bitterness for men and it makes you wonder

what experiences did these two women have that so completely shattered their expectations and opinion of men

The hardest thing about watching Monk is that it’s ostensibly a comedic show—and it does have its funny moments—but the narrative constantly, quietly debases and humiliates Adrian due to his disability and these moments just pass by, largely unremarked upon. In the Willie Nelson episode, he can’t bring himself to play the clarinet because someone else touched his mouthpiece, and you see Sharona and Stottlemeyer wincing, but he just stands there humiliated and accepts it. In the episode with the murdered billionaire, someone asks him if he’s ashamed of himself and he says “Oh, every day.” It’s so desperately sad. You want Adrian to get mad at the way people look at him and laugh at him. You want him to defend himself but he just… never does. 😞

there's this mr. monk's last case movie that i've been eager to watch if only it wasn't limited to US streamers. This show was huge in Europe and my country still airs episodes weekly and I love the dubbing version, so it's kinda disappointing that nobody would want it to reach a bigger audience.
