friday - y/n’s pov!
——
@hannie_hae:
hi! you still up for 3:00? :)
fuck. your phone read 2:17 pm. you had gotten distracted from all of your other friday endeavors, and jeonghan’s visit totally slipped your mind. you rushed to get off the couch, and begin to clean. you had until 2:30, and then you’d take the shortest shower of all eternity, and then hastily make yourself presentable. ‘A+’ for planning skills, a big fat ‘F’ for time management. and so, all that planning was what you did. you practically ran around your apartment with a vacuum whilst spraying the couches with leather cleaner. after grabbing two rags, one to wipe the tables and the couches down, you moved on to the mop for the kitchen. you clorox-wiped more than anyone had ever clorox-wiped. the clock read 2:27. wow, i probably broke some sort of record. so, you had an extra 2-ish minutes to waste in the shower. just kidding, you had to be as quick as possible, it’d be horrible for jeonghan to arrive before you were ready.
god damn, the clock read 2:54 and you were more finished than gordon ramsay’s beef wellington. your hair was dry, and looked amazing. your makeup was subtle, and your tshirt and sweatpants were..okay maybe not the best wardrobe choice, but it’s not like you’re visiting a 3 michelin star restaurant, allow yourself to be comfortable in your own home!
the clock just turned to 3:01 when jeonghan knocked on your door,
“hi! come in,” you smiled, silently relieved for him to be just as casual as you were. a black hoodie, grey sweatpants, and some sneakers. he gave you a small "hi!" and took off his shoes, "uh, you can sit on the couch, please make yourself at home! ill be right back, ill get some makeup stuff," you walked back to your bathroom while jeonghan unpacked the things he brought with him and settled down on the couch, looking around everywhere, tapping his fingers on the arm, waiting for your return. and a few minutes later, you returned with..a lot of makeup, to say the least,
"woah, that's a lot," jeonghan giggled, making you laugh,
"yeah,"
"um..how long do you think we'll need for all of this?" he asked,
"oh, we don't have to do all of this, just more options," you gave a small smile as you organized them into their respective categories,
"oh okay, i mean i have time, i was just curious, it's not that i dont want to be here i-" he rambled on, clearly a bit flustered, his ears and cheeks tinting an adorable pink,
"jeonghan, you're fine, let's just get on with it, alright?" you put your hand on top of his, calming him down a little bit,
"o-okay," he smiled, blushing harder but giving a small thumbs up, cute,
"awesome, where should we start? what concepts should we practice?" you looked through the outrageously large pile (that had been organized by you),
"let's start simple, maybe let's just work with colors for now, how about blue?" jeonghan suggested,
"whatever you feel like is fine by me," and you started on a simple blue themed look,
----
2 hours later, 5:09 pm
----
after 2 hours of trying out makeup looks, palettes littering the table, a pile of used makeup wipes in a trash can,
"alright, i think that's enough for your skin today," you smiled, noticing his reddening face, "did i do too much?"
"no no, you're fine, don't worry," jeonghan reassured you, giving the cutest giggle ever,
"okay, if you say so. can i get you some water or anything? we've been sitting for a while," you asked, realizing you forgot to offer when he first arrived,
"yeah, some water would be great!" he smiled, leaning back into the cushions,
"sure!" you headed to the kitchen, soon returning with a glass of water, "that good?"
"it's awesome, thanks!" ugh, is he always this cute? it makes me want to pin him down and- woah. that was, um, wow. that was quite the intrusive thought if i do say so myself. ha. ha. ha. during this thought segment of yours, you ended up zoning out..directly staring at jeonghan, causing him to be flustered, confused, then concerned. he thought there was something on his face, but after calling your name out a few times,
"hey, y/n?" he waved a hand in front of your face, knocking you back to reality,
"huh? what? im so sorry, just zoned out for a bit," you awkwardly laughed, flustered from your thoughts,
"you're good, but i think i'm going to head out now, thank you so much for having me over!" he smiled again, ugh that smile is going to kill me,
"no problem, anytime! make sure you don't forget anything here," you said as you prepared to open the door,
"yup, got everything, thanks again!" he gave the most adorable wave as he walked through the door, leaving, making you return to gather your makeup, put the trash can back, and collapse on the couch. you sigh, a smile settling on your face from what seemed to be a successful meeting. but..those thoughts you had were quite interesting.
--
jeonghan's pov!
--
holy shit. thank the lord i was able to leave before i had a meltdown. why did i think that me being close to y/n for so long would be okay for me to handle? wait..when they stared at me..were they actually starting at ME? or..did they actually zone out? fuck, why am i stuck with y/n? it's only sooner or later they find out about my dumbass crush on them
--
y/n's pov!
--
what the hell was i thinking? zoning out like that while staring at him? jeonghan probably thinks he’s stuck working with a creep. this is great.

"Hey you promised me once I got to this world I could have whatever I wanted to eat." She points at a cooking video on her phone showing a beef Wellington. "I want this please. And french fries."
Ah, she remembered! Darck gave a firm nod, indicated that yes, she could recall that promise. Since this place was much safer and cleaner, functional. So, the brunette older woman leaned over to get a look at the teenagers phone. Seeing... Something rather unexpected. Both brows lifting higher over her sunglasses.
And of course, she wants fries with it too. That had Darck releasing a huffed laugh, gaze looking back towards Ellie. "Okay, French Fries I know how to cook and make them god damn delicious. But beef wellington, oh boy..."
Tumblr media
"Gotta admit, never made that before. But I have eaten it." Already, she was removing the trench coat off her shoulders. Moving to a coat hook near by to put the leather trench up and away. "I'll hold true with my promise. We're both going to experience cooking something new! I have a cook book with that in it, Els. C'mon, let's hit the kitchen."
"If this turns out terrible, I'll take ya out somewhere and buy you the best one I know. Deal?"

Committed The Robbery (Part 5)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Y/N/Gangmember!Ashton
Rating: NC-17
Request: Yes
Parts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
Summary: On a scale from 1 to shit, how fucked would Ashton be if he ended up banging the other gangmember Luke’s little sister Y/N?
Read Committed The Robbery on Wattpad
Footsteps from the hallway were faint, but still loud enough for you to hear. You had no idea for how long you had been laying in bed not wanting to wake up, or at least trying to open your eyes.
You felt too tired, you weren’t sure how many hours you had been sleeping but it didn’t feel like it was enough. You felt dizzy, probably from the many painkillers and last night’s events hunting you.
God, you felt like it all was just a horrible nightmare.
You fluttered your eyes open, just wanting the confirm of what happened wasn’t just in your head.
The curtains to Luke’s room was off so the grey skies from outside gave the room light. You looked at the cushions where Ashton had been sitting but he was nowhere to be seen. You hadn’t even noticed he left.
You a rand through your hair which was pretty messy. You didn’t have anything to get it away from your face so you settled with using your fingers as a comb.
When you sat up in bed after taking another look, you couldn’t help but grimace.
The pain was obvious, almost like a pounding migraine but on the skin. Your hand came down instantly to the hurt spot, feeling the bandage with spots of blood coming from the stitches.
God, you had almost forgotten. You didn’t want to remember now when you were being honest. You didn’t want to think that this was going to stay with you for the rest of your life.
It wasn’t big, it was easier to see how large the area was when lights were on and you weren’t affected by adrenaline or a pounding bass from downstairs. In fact, it was all so quiet, you could barely hear voices.
You weren’t even sure if the party was still going on. Sometimes you had caught Luke still partying at 8 am. A party never stopped until the host went to bed and he usually just stayed awake to the early mornings.
9:30 it was. You noticed because of your phone still having the battery on. It was only at 2% so it wouldn’t be surviving for long. You decided to put it into Luke’s charter before settling with investigating what was going on downstairs.
The long hem of Luke’s band tee folded to the edge when you stood up from the mattress. It almost hid your shorts and made it seem like you were just in your underwear.
You didn’t want to change, it didn’t feel like it was needed. They knew you had been sleeping in your shorts so you didn’t assume they would misinterpret the situation.
The voices from downstairs suddenly sounded downstairs and you concluded the party was over. You could hear Luke and his raspy voice, something he always adopted when drinking. That, along with his eyes turning a bloody red.
Sometimes he was mistaken for being on crack. You didn’t judge dem, he dealt with drugs daily and it was easy to conclude. But he knew better, he would never take time in using that on himself. He only sold it because of the money sometimes when he wanted to.
It was mostly Michael who spent time in that department. It wasn’t just once the police had taken him to the station overnight when they were catching him illegally selling on parking lots.
”Wait but no, as fun as it sounds I have to stay home. After all the stuff that has been going on the past few days, I don’t want Y/N to be alone now.”
You stopped in track by the end of the stairs because of Luke’s voice.
“I can stay behind if so?” Ashton suggested, maybe a little bit too fast for his liking but he couldn’t control his suggestion. It was the first thing that came to his mind and he said it out loud instead of thinking.
You could see the two of them by the kitchen island with Calum. The house looked like a scattered mess but they had black plastic bags standing by the counters so you assumed they were in the middle of cleaning.
That was the thing with them. They always seemed to mess like crazy, especially during parties. But they always managed to clean everything and usually when you would visit after a party, it looked cleaner than it did on a normal basis.
“You sure about that? You’re usually the one handling the business, let alone the one who’s perfectionistic. You don’t usually like when we handle your tasks.” Michael questioned before Luke got the chance to say anything and he looked over at Ashton a bit astonished.
“I mean we’ve all agreed to take care of Y/N individually.” Ashton shrugged, not really knowing how to save it, “I guess you can just say my duty is calling. I don’t mind, to be honest.”
The boys looked between each other skeptical at first but then Luke shrugged it off and threw his jacket over his shoulder.
“You are the one that gets with her the best.” He admitted and took a look in the mirror to check his hair. Even with battles, he wanted to make sure he looked good during it.
“But you promise me one thing.” He suddenly warned and Ashton held his breath, thinking worst case scenarios.
“Don’t let anyone in unless it’s one of the three of us.”
Ashton hadn’t realized he had been holding his breath but once he realized Luke wasn’t, in fact, thinking the same thing as him he let out a sound of relief. He nodded his head in agreement and watched the boys head towards the door, waving lightly at them as they left.
He turned around the corner to see you come down from the stairs with a confused gaze on your face.
“What is going on?” You questioned confused once you were down to the last step and looked around, “Where did Luke go?”
“The usual,” Ashton replied quietly, his lips tightening.
You nodded your head in agreement but not because you understood what he was referring to. You never had, you had never asked and to be honest you were better off not knowing why. They had always been referring it to ‘the usual’ or ‘business’ when talking about stuff they wanted to keep you out from.
“Why aren’t you with them?” You tried not to pretend you had been listening all along. You didn’t want to realize that they were switching places in order to keep you safe.
He shrugged his shoulders and headed over to the fridge, wanting to change the subject and avoiding giving you an answer.
“What do you want for breakfast?”
“I’m not hungry.” You shook your head and scratched your arm out of habit. You weren’t sure if it was because of the many painkillers you felt nausea. It gave you a headache, you honestly couldn’t manage the law class later.
“You have to eat something,” He carefully said and grabbed a few buns from one of the drawers.
“Isn’t that just a myth?” You crossed your arms and he couldn’t help but laugh.
“I know what you’re trying to do.” He let go of the bag and took the few steps to stand in front of you.
“You’re on the path of war because I didn’t answer your question. If I know you well enough I know that you already understand what is going on.”
You looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, not really knowing how to handle the situation. It wasn’t often you looked at it that way. Ashton was probably used to handling you.
“We’ve all agreed to take care of you. It came along when your parents moved to Wellington.”
He reached to grab the buns and put three in the oven. 2 for him and one for you. He wasn’t going to stop until you had put something in your mouth.
You sighed carefully and nodded your head in agreement.
Most of your life you were raised with your parents. It wasn’t often you saw them, considering they were in the same industry as your brothers. Not just Luke, but also Ben and Jack. They all took a part in the bittersweet life and you were the only one they prayed would turn into something great.
You actually believed that if it wasn’t for James constantly trying to ruin it.
Growing up was kind of harsh. The house never looked clean, nobody was rarely home and if they were, it wasn’t someone you knew off. Luke always made sure that if he wasn’t there to take care of you, some sort of babysitter would.
It wasn’t that you were all wrapped up in bubble wrap. You understood what they were doing, you knew they were handling weapons and you also knew in between the lines there were drugs. But you also trusted Luke. You knew he wouldn’t do such thing like that.
You had always tried to take a distance. It wasn’t easy considering they always had one eye on you. You couldn’t even walk out at the age of 14 without Luke needing to know where you were heading.
He could be an embarrassment at times. He couldn’t keep a barrier between being the overprotective big brother and also being the fun one. He was definitely the fun out of the four, always doing random shit you couldn’t imagine.
He was the one forcing the bullies to apologize, even if you were only 8. You didn’t understand where he got the power because he wasn’t tall until his late teens. It was like one day he woke up and was suddenly 6’3.
Not even the teachers in middle school wanted to call him out for things. You had no count of how many times he had tied someone to the sinks in the bathroom or something along the lines of that because they had said a mean comment to you.
You almost feared he would find out because you knew it would end up ugly. Just like with James. It was like nothing had changed.
You had always lived your life close to Luke. You had been staying at the same apartment since you were 16 and you always knew you could come to him when you needed it.
He always had the apartment full but only with people you knew of. He wouldn’t drag someone home and he definitely wouldn’t drag a woman home. The only girl in his life was you, and he wasn’t interested in anyone else.
You honestly thought you were going to stay at the apartment for the rest of your life. College was what changed your everyday life upside down.
When you tried to float the idea about moving out and into a dorm when you started college, it was like nonsense to Luke. How was he going to protect you, if you were miles away from him?
He didn’t want to admit it but he loved just walking into your room and sitting by your bed. Not saying anything but just enjoying watching you study, seeing whatever programme was on the TV or listening to the music that was blasting from your pink speakers.
You sometimes thought he was bored and doing it out of boredom. But the truth was he enjoyed just watching you be happy. It helped him knowing that you were on the right path.
In the end, he knew he couldn’t keep you inside the walls of the apartment. If you needed to continue the path he needed to let go and give you freedom.
You almost believed he had commitment issues because the second you made the deal and you got into a dorm at Sydney Falls College Campus, it was like he had to move out as well. He didn’t want to stay at the old apartment and the boys had been venting the dream of living together.
It also meant that they didn’t have to leave every single day to see each other, they could just walk into the other room and say hello.
It was in the middle of chaos because just the second you had gotten your acceptance letter from Sydney Falls, Luke came home to announce they had been expelled.
For what, he couldn’t announce. You neither wanted to ask even though you were dying to know. So many things had happened at that college before and you didn’t really understand they were suddenly expelled for good.
Sometimes Luke would come home and announce he was kicked out of class for either violence or similar activities. But that wasn’t expelled where they weren’t allowed to be on the school’s ground.
You weren’t even sure if they were allowed in your dorm. You’d lie if you say you weren’t about to have a heart attack when you were about to move in because the four of them were helping you. You were having a glance over your shoulder every other minute because you needed to make sure nobody was seeing them.
Everyone had heard the news that they were expelled. They weren’t a high topic but it was a relief to the ones who were scared. The boys never had a great reputation and you weren’t surprised by that.
They seemed pretty intimidating when they walked down the hallway as a pack that couldn’t be broken. In their leather jackets with a cigarette between their fingers and black leather jackets.
You had tried asking Luke once but he was rejecting. You didn’t know if it was because you had moved out you were suddenly let out of the information. He didn’t want to answer and told that you were safe without the information.
That was when they announce they were going to be away for a while. You had no idea why, how or where they were going but they had to leave. You were protesting at first because not living near Luke kind of scared you. But in the end, it was a great choice because it meant you got a great start at college without someone watching you behind your back.
You got the start you wanted and three months later the boys were back. It was like everything was back to normal, yet it was some sort of new start.
But as soon as the boys were back, it was like you had become a target. For no reason, you had never done anything to hurt James. You even tried to help him back in kindergarten when Luke was forcing him to eat sand.
“Why are you so afraid something is going to happen to me?” You sat down on one of the white chairs in front of the wooden table.
There was a large purple orchid standing in the middle of the table next to a salt and pepper set. You assumed it was a host gift from last night.
Ashton couldn’t help but chuckle by your question. He was hovering over the buns, watching them finish until they were warm and crispy.
“Because you’re Daphne.” He answered simply and you furrowed your eyebrows, “Daphne Joy?”
“No, no not her.” Ashton was quick to shake his head, “I’m not talking about her. I’m talking about Daphne Blake.”
“You’re seriously comparing me to a Scooby Doo character?” You tried not to sound a bit insulted but you were, “Michael used to call me that when I was younger. It’s not like I’m getting stuck in trees anymore when playing.”
Ashton laughed again and stopped the toaster before he burned the buns.
“I’m not saying you’re a cartoon character,” He hummed and opened the fridge, “I’m just saying that you’re very fragile and the chance of you getting kidnapped is pretty high.”
He grabbed a package of butter, lifting it in the air as an invitation. You nodded your head in agreement and watched him place the butter in front of you.
“Is there a chance I will be kidnapped?” You lowered your voice, feeling a bit of anxiety just by the thought. It had crossed your mind before but the chances were in fact real.
He leaned his long body against the kitchen counter and crossed his arms. His mouth twisted and he looked down at the ground trying to come with an answer.
“We will try our utter best to avoid it. As long as you’re with me I promise you nothing will ever harm you.”
If there was one time where Ashton seemed serious, it was moments like this. Where you could see through his hazel eyes that he would never forgive himself if he managed to hurt you in any way that could have been prevented.
“Ashton, can I ask you something?”
He flicked his curls away from his eyes to look at you and nodded his head. You rubbed your hands together, not really knowing if you were going to catch an answer now.
“What happened?”
Silence fell upon the kitchen. Ashton looked at you with no expression on his face. You didn’t know if it was because he didn’t understand your question or if he was reliving the moment you just asked. Whatever was going on caught all his attention and he wasn’t saying anything.
“When?” His tone went serious and he lowered his voice.
You shifted in your seat and folded your hands together again. His eyes weren’t flicking away from your form and you were trying not to get red cheeks.
“I was just trying to understand-, I mean,” You were fumbling over your words suddenly becoming nervous. Maybe this was a bad idea after all.
“Why were you expelled?”
Silence came again but this time a little less tense. It was like Ashton had imagined you would ask something else because he seemed relieved.
He loosened his body from the counter and grabbed a chair to take a seat.
“It seems to me you’ve heard something?” He asked just to be sure but you were quick to shake your head. You knew nothing.
“And you haven’t heard anything from college? I mean, it’s the source of gossip.”
You shook your head again. The only thing you had been hearing was it was a collision between the boys and James’ big brother. You had never actually met him and if you had it was many years back.
“Okay.” Ashton nodded his head and folded his hands together.
“You know Marc, right?” He asked and you shook your head, “Marc Walker? James’ big brother?” By the added question you nodded your head in agreement. You had just forgotten his name.
“He has always been a manipulating ass. Never the one to trust, the blond haired gorgeous idiot who’s only purpose on life is to make everyone else’s end. He’s part-time leader of the gang down by the West. We don’t get near that because it’s too dangerous for any of us.”
You nodded your head wanting him to continue as you intensely ate your bun with butter.
“We’ve always been on bad terms. Ever since high school we’ve hated each other, bloody hell I can even imagine it like it was yesterday. If I had to make a list of all the bad things he has done in his life I don’t think we would have the time.” Ashton took a bite of his own bun.
“We’ve collided many times. I don’t want to get into details with that but Marc did something that was, against all laws. Even in the gang world, you don’t break the rules. Even if we hate each other and want to kill each other we still respect the rules. That’s rule number one.”
The rules didn’t seem like something you had heard off before. You remembered Luke mentioning it a few years back but you assumed it was just a lame joke.
“What was that girl?” You lifted an eyebrow and Ashton replied it with, “We’ll get to that.”
“The boys and I were trying of a way to come up with something back. I mean, it wasn’t easy and it took at least two months before we were even feeling like normal people again. What Marc did was so terrible I honestly don’t think he would be able to survive if he was within my reach.”
You just wanted him to spill the beans, why did you need all these details.
“Luke was the one coming up with the plan. We had to do something that was going to hit James’ the hardest way possible. Without breaking the rules of course.” Ashton ran a hand through his locks, “I didn’t think it would be a great idea at first because it was risky. But we had to do something because he needed something back. He couldn’t just walk free with the things he had done.”
“But I can’t tell you what we did because it will one, cause you danger, and two, put us all in a risky position. Only the four of us can know. It has to be on my dead body if it slips out between these walls. They don’t talk.”
You honestly couldn’t feel more disappointed. He literally told nothing. You could easily have figured out yourself not to mention find out by just asking someone at campus.
“But you have to promise me one thing.” He looked at you seriously and you nodded your head in agreement wanting him to continue.
“If you ever see Marc Walker as in ever there’s one thing you’re going to do. Run.”
You didn’t want to know how dangerous he actually was. By the way, Ashton was talking about him you could just sense he was dangerous. He wasn’t someone you wanted to run into.
“He’s currently underground not wanting to be seen by anyone. So the coast is clear as long as he isn’t in Sydney. He disappeared once we all were expelled. He was supposed to be in jail but left before it happened. We haven’t seen his face since. You can kind of say our secret plan worked.”
Ashton shrugged his shoulders and grabbed your plates to put it into the sink. He was, after all, the neatest out of the boys. He hated when dirty towels were on the floor, good thing it was him and Calum sharing bathroom and not with Luke.
You watched him hover over the sink with a sponge, trying to think everything through. He was definitely leaving out details that seemed important to the story.
You didn’t want to force him to speak though. You never wanted to be on the edge.
When you tried to stand up from the chair a shot of pain was caused by your stomach.
You couldn’t help but groan a little bit, catching Ashton’s attention.
“Oh yes,” He dried his hands in a towel, “I promised Calum to take a look.”
You leaned back on the chair and lifted up in Luke’s shirt for Ashton to see. You didn’t know if he was an expert in wounds but it seemed okay when he removed the patch gently.
“Well he did a pretty great job that Kiwi boy.” He hummed in satisfaction and walked over to one of the cabinets. They had a place where they kept a first aid kit, he probably just needed a new patch.
As long as you would be wearing clothes you couldn’t just have the scar free in case of blood or secretion.
“When can we take the stitches out?” You leaned your head to the side and watched him clean the wound.
“I don’t think until a few weeks. It needs to heal probably. But I’m not a doctor. Ask Calum.” He couldn’t help but laugh a bit. Neither were Calum but he had interest and probably new.
You nodded your head and looked down at your phone. You couldn’t help but sigh heavily and Ashton noticed.
“What?” He nodded his head down at your phone, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s just that…” You looked down at the phone again, hesitantly, “I just have a class here at 12. I just don’t want to go because…”
“James is there?” Ashton finished your sentence and you nodded your head in agreement.
You knew this wasn’t supposed to ruin your classes but you honestly felt so weak. There was no way you were ready or able to do an argument with him. You just wanted to be invisible.
“I have an idea.” He announced and you furrowed your eyebrows.
“Come with me.”
“Ashton I don’t think this is a good idea.”
You looked up at him with wide eyes, your teeth digging into your bottom lip.
He looked into the mirror of the window and wrapped his gray beanie over his curls so they were only sticking out at the top and by the ends.
He turned around to look at you with a smirk and furrowed eyebrows.
“What do you mean this isn’t a great idea?”
He was wearing a dark purple/blue and red flannel, a white tee under it and his black skinny jeans. You had never seen him wear something like this before but it wasn’t like he looked like someone who was suddenly in disguise.
You didn’t know if you were supposed to answer or not because he seemed to have settled his mind.
“You know he won’t touch you if you’re near me.” He placed his hands in his jean pockets and looked at you with a smile.
“Yes,” You nodded your head in agreement, “But you’re expelled. They will take you to the police station if they find out you’re in one of my classes.”
“They’ll need to catch me first.” Ashton winked and opened the door, “Ladies first.”
When you meant everyone you meant EVERYONE was staring at you. You weren’t sure if it was because people had the expression you had a new boy at college with you or if they did see it was Ashton. He wasn’t that hard to recognize.
You didn’t like the attention you were getting but Ashton seemed to enjoy it. He was smiling all over his face pretty amused.
You walked into the classroom with Ashton right behind you, wanting to get to the top of the stairs and take a seat on the back row. You never liked being up front.
As you placed your books on your seat you felt pokes on your shoulders. You couldn’t help but feel goosebumps up your spine.
“Well look who was brave enough to show up today?” James grinned by the sight of you, “Surprised you didn’t breath to death. There’s still blood on my knife.”
“That’s funny because there isn’t blood on my gun, yet.” Ashton showed up from your behind, placing an arm on your shoulders.
With instinct James took a step back, watching Ashton smile all over his face.
“And before you say anything,” Ashton nodded down at the lector, “Remember I never miss with a bullet.”
James swallowed deeply and hurried to take a seat in front of you, feeling his long legs disappear under his table.
You looked up at Ashton and couldn’t help but smile just a little bit, a warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach when he took a seat next to you and waited for the class to start.

1 year ago today, Ash asked me to be his girlfriend. This is just a little blurby gift for him.
Happy Anniversary babe. I love you.
@gravesong
There’s a scent to Wellington that’s gotten under Tess’ skin over the years. As much as she misses Santa Barbara and her family there, whenever she thinks maybe one day they’ll move overseas, she just steps outside and she can’t fathom that scent not being there. It’s the closeness of the sea, the urban setting, how much cleaner this little island is. That warm, headiness that comes with island life is intoxicating. It may not be a tropical paradise, or the Florida Keys, but it’s precious to her now.
Henry and Titus are in town for a little bit, and they’re watching the girls tonight. Tess has a hotel room booked for her and Darius to stay at after their night out. Once he’s all set and they say their goodbyes and give hugs and kisses before they get a taxi to their first stop, the bar she was working in when she was undercover.
When they arrive it’s clear that it’s been renovated recently, the older, grungier crowd isn’t there, there’s a lot of younger people and people in their age group. It took months for Tess to learn all those drinks and general barkeeping before she arrived in New Zealand and as they sit down, she quietly thinks back to the night he first walked in there.
She smiles to herself, they have a couple drinks (sex on the beach, of course) and chat. Rarely do they get to go out and drink without fear of possibly having to go home. Barring an emergency, their phones won’t go off tonight. And it’s nice to sit there like they did that first night.
Five years ago.
As they leave, she briefly glances to the little alley around the side where he had spotted her with that cop. That’s a memory she doesn’t want him thinking about tonight, so before he notices, she draws him to her for a kiss, and smiles at him before leading him away. They hit a few more spots important to them, the little flat he was staying in when they met that they’ve since outgrown. A quick stroll through the park they took Roxy and Stevie to.
They pop into the museum he proposed to her in, a place they’ve frequented a lot the last few years. She shows him a little plaque with their names, listing them as friends of the museum. Miriam’s money gone to good use.
Finally she takes him for dinner at a new place he’s been eyeballing since the sign first went up saying it was coming. It’s got a lot of vegetarian friendly options without too much restriction so if he wants to be bad and wander into carnivore fare, he’s free. She can’t help but look at him and smile throughout the meal, he’s been an interesting and complex addition to her life, but she wonders if her life would be nearly so happy if she hadn’t ended up coming to his house that night to screw him.
After dinner, they get a cab to Pencarrow coast. The lighthouse is illuminated and Tess has gotten them permission to go up in it and look out over Wellington Harbor. The weather’s perfect for them to just spend some time there and enjoy the view. Tess curls up into him, wrapping him up in her arms and holding him tightly for a bit. It’s nice to just spend this time with him, they have their ups and downs. Everyone does. At the end of the day, the love is more than enough for them.
She makes a comment that they’ll have to take the kids up there during the day soon and after a couple kisses, they head back down to the waiting taxi to head to the hotel. It’s a nice room, clean, a little bit fancier than they need, but as Tess puts it, they’ve made it to a big milestone and deserve the splurge. After a little champagne and him making her laugh as they dance a little to music they can hear with the window open from down in the street, they melt into one another.
Between kisses they wish one another a happy 5th anniversary, and their lovemaking is relaxed, sweet, even a little silly at times. Nothing like that first encounter years ago, It’s all evolving and growing and still they adapt and grow with it. She thinks that’s why they’ve made it so far, and she hopes, with every reason to hope, that that will get them to the end of their lives together. As she drifts to sleep in his arms, all she can think is that she hopes the next five years are just as lovely.

Breaking Shadows
Chapter 3
On Saturday morning, I found myself in a foul mood. Will had avoided me for the entire day. Kat said it was because he was pissed about the rumours but how could I explain myself or lie if he wouldn’t speak to me?
It didn’t help that I wouldn’t have another chance until Monday as my Gran-imposed grounding had now begun.
    No going out.
    No phone.
When I found Gran, she was up, dressed and in the kitchen surrounded by chaos.
Light from the breaking morning struggled to penetrate the dirt-streaked window panes of the cottage. It did however, highlight the patch where I had written ‘clean me’ earlier in the week. The small amount of golden haze witnessed the destruction that had occurred across every worktop. Containers full of different coloured liquids looked like they were arranged for a jumble sale and glass bottles reflected their colours onto any surface they could reach like broken shards of stained glass.
    “What are you doing?”
Gran jumped a foot in the air. “Riley! You’re up!” She shuffled across to hide whatever she had on the stove. Her round cheeks were pink and bright with her light grey hair twisted and pinned on the top of her head. “What are you doing up so early?” She waved a spatula in my direction. “You better not have plans, my girl. Because of Thursday night’s performance, you’re not going anywhere.”
I rolled my eyes. As if I needed any more reminders about the demons only I seemed to remember or the fact I was grounded.
“Obviously not. I don’t have a death wish. I couldn’t sleep anymore. So, what are you doing?” I raised an eyebrow, surveying the kitchen.
    “Soup.”
    “Soup?”
“Chicken soup. Homemade, as you can see,” Gran’s eyes flitted across the assembled items.
I hesitated a guess at what she was thinking. Not one thing in the kitchen resembled anything that would make chicken soup, even to someone as cooking illiterate as me.
“For the Tudor girl. She’s sick.”
“And they couldn’t just get that from the shop?”
“Shame on you Riley Archer! We help each other in this community, you know that.”
“Do you need a hand then? You look tired.”
“No!” Gran snapped then closed her eyes. “No, I would like you to collect the chicken eggs and any of the fruit and vegetables that are ready.” She pointed to the wicker basket hanging from a crude nail in one beam. “There’s some peas ready but if you could check everything else that would be a great help.”
I sighed, reaching up to retrieve the basket. “I’ll leave you to your chicken soup.”
Heading to the front door, I pulled on my wellington boots. Gran was hiding something, and the weight of the thought settled in my stomach like an anvil. Why would she hide something from me? That question bothered me most of all.
I stepped out of the door with caution. Since the events of the other night, I was constantly on edge, as though being on my own made be vulnerable. As though that would make the creatures come.
The village is protected. They can’t come here.
The words of my rescuer echoed in my mind just as his fading image had over the last two days. I should have stayed and demanded more from him, made him give me answers.
But he had just saved my life.
How could I have asked for more?
Idly, I wondered what was so special about Valestone. What stopped the demons from crossing into our village?
Blacker than Whitby Jet, a solitary feather caught my eye interrupting my thoughts. Its colour made ever more vivid by the washed-out, broken flagstone it laid upon. I thought about the bird it may have come from, raven or crow maybe. The sheer size of the feather suggested the bird must have been huge too and I’d not seen any birds of that size sailing around. Gran hated crows because she believed they signalled change and she liked things the way they were.
Without another thought, I plucked the feather from its resting place and pushed it through one of the holes in the wicker basket. One more time, I checked the lane was clear before following the broken path that edged the cottage to the back garden. Whilst the grass had grown long, and thorny rose bushes ran wild all the way down one side of the garden, the greenhouse and produce planters were perfectly kept. Gran tended to them religiously, especially her collection of herbs that filled every window box and plant pot she could find. She had everything from the usual basil, clove and thyme to strange exotic plants I didn’t know the name of. Her collection was vast and used often.
I checked the chicken coop first. Gran’s four plump hens, Fee, Fi, Fo and Fum were lazy layers and only produced eggs every now and again. Two eggs today, better than nothing. I placed them at the bottom of the basket. Dozens of fat, red tomatoes were ripe and ready for plucking, I piled them into the basket thinking if everything else failed, we could live on homemade tomato soup.
Brought on a gentle breeze, the scent of rain on a hot summer night hit me. Shivers barrelled down my spine and I whipped my head to look behind me, fully expecting to see someone standing there. But there was no-one. Just the bloom of an English cottage garden in July.
After checking the other vegetables and picking the ones that were ready, the basket was soon bursting with a variety of home grown foods. Gran would be pleased.
When I returned to the kitchen, there wasn’t a single item out of place. “Have you had a team of cleaners in here while I was outside?” I couldn’t see any of the various containers that had swamped the worktops and where the sun’s rays had reflected off the curved glass bottles, they now highlighted the gleaming granite surface of Gran’s kitchen.
Gran gave a teetering laugh. “It wasn’t that bad, just a few bottles and utensils. This and that,” she avoided my eye and placed a container in a paper bag. “Soup’s ready.”
Strange really that Gran’s chicken soup was an off-pink colour. “Are you taking that now?”
    “We’re taking it now.”
“What? I don’t want to go to the Tudor’s. Why do I have to go?”
Gran sighed. “Because I don’t want you out of my sight.”
I placed the full basket on the dining table. “Ah but I’m grounded so I’m not allowed to leave the house and just a little advice, you should be consistent in your approach to punishment.”
“Don’t get smart. You’re coming with me. End of conversation.”
My shoulders slumped. “It looks like you’re going to make this grounding as fun as possible,” I moaned.
    Gran grinned. “Yes I am.”
  ***
Daisy Tudor could not have been more than five-years-old and yet she was paler than the petals of the flower that bore her name, a mass of dampened wild curls spreading out from her head across the pillow. Gran and Marion Tudor, Daisy’s mother, spoke in hushed tones. I hovered in the doorway to the girl’s room. A tree that could have been out of any fantasy story had been hand painted on one wall with branches that stretched onto the adjoining wall and across the ceiling. Vinyl fairies danced around the whole room in pastel pinks, blues and yellows. I’d have done anything for a room like this when I was younger, I’d probably still have it now.
“Has she spoken at all?” Gran sunk down and sat at the edge of Daisy’s bed. Placing the soup down on the side, the older woman took the young child’s hand in hers. Gran placed the tips of her forefingers on the inside of Daisy’s wrist and held them there for a few seconds then moved her hand to her forehead.
“Not a word,” Marion’s voice wobbled. “She hasn’t opened her eyes for days. Not since-” she glanced to me with alarmed almond-shaped eyes. Mrs Tudor looked like a creature from the fairy realm herself, with her long, lithe limbs and short, wispy locks. Her ears even had a smooth arched point at the top.
Gran licked her dry lips. “Why don’t you wait downstairs, Riley? I won’t be long here.”
    “But-”
“Downstairs, please.” Gran gave me one of her ‘don’t-you-dare-think-about-arguing-with-me’ looks and like always, they did the trick.
I pulled a face but did as she asked. As I always did.
The Tudor’s home closely resembled our cottage. Small, compact. No more than what they needed but no less either. I flopped myself down on the pastel coloured flowery sofa. Floor to ceiling bookshelves covered the living room walls. Books had been jammed any which way they would fit. Upside down, not in size order.
I looked away, crossing my arms, trying to focus on anything else but the disorganised chaos of the bookcase kept calling to me. Mrs Tudor wouldn’t mind if I sorted out a shelf or two. I busied myself pulling out the books which had been horizontally piled on top of the others. No sense, no order. How could anyone treat books like this?
A shadow crossed the window drawing my attention, followed by a flapping sound like the wings of a huge bird in flight. It didn’t cross my mind until I’d flung open the front door and launched myself out of it that the demons could have returned. I stood in the middle of the path searching for someone, something, anything.
Three feathers floated down from the sky. They matched the one I’d found before my own front door that morning. Dark with a glossy shine. With a few quick glances up and down, I gathered them up, turning them over in my hand so I could examine them.
“Riley?” Gran’s full frame blocked the Tudor’s doorway. “I’m all done here, we can go now.”
My fingers curled around the feathers. “How is Daisy?”
Gran closed the door behind her. “She’ll be fine now. Come on, we’ll have a nice walk home. What do you have there?” Her eyes narrowed at the feathers in my hand.
“Feathers I found on the path.”
    Gran paled. “Dark feathers.”
    “Yes.”
“Just make sure you wash your hands. You’ve no idea where they’ve come from.”
The sun beat down on us mercilessly, only made bearable by a sprightly breeze that had picked up.
“Why were you outside? I told you to wait downstairs.”
“You did, but I thought I saw something, I wasn’t sure what and I went to check it out.”
“How many times do I have to warn you to be careful? You are reckless recently, running off at any whim.”
“Reckless? Gran, I went to one festival. That’s it. Daisy looked like…”
“What?” Each sentence seemed to end with Gran wheezing. Her colour hadn’t improved either.
“She looked like - y’know, that she hasn’t got long left.”
“Little Daisy will be fine within a week or two. There’s no need to worry.” Her lips tightened to let me know there would be no more talking about Daisy Tudor.
“Say what you want but even I know that chicken soup can’t fix what is wrong with that girl.”
Gran smirked. “You’ll be amazed at the stuff chicken soup can cure. I’m astonished it’s not on the NHS list of recommended treatments.” Her voice trailed off and her cheeks puffed out as an onslaught of violent coughs racked her body. Doubling over, Gran struggled to catch her breath.
I stilled. “Gran?” I took tentative steps forward putting my hand out to steady her.
Her own arm shot out freezing me in my tracks. “I’m fine,” she panted. “Just a little unfit. Would you mind if we sat down for a while?”
“Of course not, here let me help,” I offered her my arm while alarm bells rang in my head. The village was tiny. Gran had never had a problem walking anywhere in Valestone. It just wasn’t big enough to cause breathlessness.
I slowed my pace, stepping back in line with Gran and helped her over to the bench dedicated to Mr and Mrs Moss.
“Take as long as you need.”
Across the way, I spied Fawn Underhill hurrying down the lane. The strap of her shoulder bag much too long it hung past her knees. She had her arms wrapped around herself.
“Are you going to be OK if I speak to Fawn?”
“It’s not like I’m going anywhere for a while.”
I raced after Fawn calling her name. As I neared, she turned to me, eyes narrowing.
“Hi,” I panted. God, I needed to get more exercise.
She pursed her full lips. “Where is the organ grinder to grant you permission to speak to me?”
“Fair enough. I deserved that. I wanted to make sure you’re OK and to let you know I really am sorry for barging into you.”
With slender fingers, Fawn raked her brown hair behind her ear. Kat was wrong, Fawn’s hair was lovely. Thick, luscious curls fell like a waterfall down her back. Gold eyeshadow, her signature colour, adorned her eyelids contrasting beautifully with the smooth brown of her skin.
“I’m fine. Knocking me down didn’t hurt half as much as seeing you too scared to say anything. You’re better than that, Riley. You know that, don’t you?”
“I’m sorry,” I repeated, fully ashamed of how right Fawn was. “I won’t let her say anything to you again. Not like that. It was wrong.”
Fawn seemed to consider me for a moment. “I was going to catch you at school on Monday, to speak to you. I would like us to be friends, Riley. We used to be close. That was before-”
    Before Kat and Will.
“I’d like that,” I smiled, offering a hand out to her. “Friends.”
  ***
Back at the cottage, I took full advantage of Gran’s rest by sneaking my phone out of the lock box in the larder. The corners of my mouth twitched when I realised she’d hidden the box behind the Bran Flakes because Gran knew I wouldn’t touch the stuff.
I eased open the front door and sat on the doorstep to ring Will. The coldness of the concrete penetrated the layer of my jeans. He seemed to take an age to answer.
“Hey, babe,” he yawned. “Are you wanting to come over?”
“I’m still grounded,” I moaned down the phone. “I just wanted to speak to you. It feels like I haven’t seen you since the festival.”
“Sorry to hear that, babe,” he said with a distinct air of indifference.
I cringed at the lazy endearment. Babe. It was what Simon called Kat and because she loved it, Will thought we could adopt it and use it ourselves. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I hated it. Every time he used it, I had to stop myself screaming that my name wasn’t and never will be ‘babe’.
He yawned again, sounding more bored than tired.
“I looked out for you at school yesterday too, but I didn’t see you. It’s almost like you were avoiding me.”
    “I was.”
“Oh.” That punch in the gut hurt.
“I know. Loads of rumours were flying around school about you and this guy on a motorcycle so I thought it was best to distance myself from the gossip but now that’s all cleared up, when do you think I’ll be able to see you? We have a lot of catching up to do if you get my meaning.”
I envisaged him winking on the other side of the phone, and yes, I knew what he meant, and it made me shift uncomfortably on the doorstep. His words fuelled a strange feeling in me which I contained by biting my lip. “I don’t know. I’m trying my best to do everything Gran says hoping I might get let off early due to good behaviour.”
    “Ok babe, I’ll be waiting.”
He rang off and my head fell into my hands. I’d fancied Will Bennett for years. He still had the same mop of blond hair but his pink, rounded cheeks had angled out and he’d lost all his baby fat leaving him slender. I couldn’t believe it when he asked me out, though I think Kat had a lot to do with it and she can be very persuasive. We’d never been like Kat and Simon, who were all over each other at every opportunity, but I thought we were OK until the festival. But now things were different.
    Everything was different.

Week 1
Sense or sense modality: Starting an investigation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Investigation :
Tumblr media
Above, I have included an image of my abstract drawing investigation for each sense including aural, smell, taste, and tactile. My chosen items for taste included Sugar, Salt and a lemon. The first drawing for taste has colourful swirls and rounded lines moving around in reflection of the taste of sugar flowing and bouncing all over your tongue with pleasant flavour.  I represented salt with a flowing thick red line in the middle for its instant strong flavour as soon as it hits your tongue while the flavour flows outwards ................... For Lemon, I used harsh straight lines expressing the sour juice that screws your whole face up from the powerful flavour when tasting it.
In Tactile, I chose Concrete, sheets, and slime. These objects all have different textures helping to give me a variety of touch options. First, for concrete I laid the paper onto real concrete creating an image transfer with my pencil through to show the ruff bumpy texture you feel running your fingers along the hard surface. Secondly, for sheets I lightly shaded the page thinking about the weight I’m drawing with to be the same feeling of the sheets I’m touching that have a very light weight to them. I also used watercolour to run a curved line through the pencil using this soft media and to give off an inviting comfort to the drawing that the tactile feeling of sheets holds. The curvy line also suggests relaxation which falls into place with the idea of lying on these sheets in bed. For Slime, I used 2 different colours reflecting the different layers experience when touching slime. Just touching the top of slime may feel soft and warm feeling however when you dive deeper and stick your fingers inside you feel a cold, wet texture represented in blue which is a cold colour.
In Aural, I Chose The sounds of waves crashing on the beach, birds tweeting outside, and the traffic in Wellington city. I began by listening to these sounds and adding different marks to initiate the type of sound I heard. My first sound of traffic features a dark upwards scribble which fades downwards into a light weight of the pastel representing the car engines getting louder to fading out. There are distant sounds heard represented in another light weighted motion being this line and small harsh blue marks to represent sirens heard. The second sound, of birds tweeting is represented through circular marks being the most dominant mark on the page for this high-pitched sound. In the background are small dots and twisted marks protruding up the page for the more soft sounds they make between the loud high pitches. Lastly. for waves crashing I used marks relating to both the soft water sound coming in getting ready to crash and then the smashing sound they make once hitting the rocky beach shore.
In Smell, I chose Wood, grass and glass cleaner.
Tumblr media
Reflect  on the exercise - noting what you did and what you became more acutely aware of?
There are different layers of sound just like there are different textures we feel, and this is complimentary to all the senses.
I believe our sense could also be connected to memory and weather we have negative or positive experiences with this sense.
focusing on a sense you might not always be aware you’re even using and realising the impact it has in simple everyday life by blocking out the other senses and focusing on its qualities

Martin Basher - Starkwhite gallery exhibition
https://ocula.com/artists/martin-basher/
New Zealand-American, New York-based contemporary artist Martin Basher enlists the visual languages of advertising and retail in paintings and installations that mimic and investigate capitalist display aesthetics and the unspoken impulses of individual and collective consumption.
Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Basher moved to Rockland County in New York State with his parents as a teenager. He studied at Columbia University in New York, graduating with a BA in 2003 followed by an MFA in 2008. The scale and volume of American products clearly made an impression on him in his early American years, and since graduation, his practice has focused on the materials and imagery of retail culture.
Martin Basher's trademark abstract and photo-realistic paintings employ the enticing subject matter and seductive colours and tones of commercial imagery. For example, many Basher paintings offer images of sunny beaches similar to those often used in travel agencies or offices as enticing windows of escape from everyday life.
Basher's more abstract works distil the seductive elements of such posters into light and colour that seeps through vertical linear patterns reminiscent of the methods by which these images are displayed in a retail setting. In a number of works featured in his solo exhibition Hawaiian Tropic at Starkwhite, Auckland (2017), a tropical beach sunset is translated into warm orange and yellows leeching between abstract vertical bars.
As Martin Basher explained in an interview with Chris Wiley for Whitewall in 2017, in his more Minimalist paintings he sought to work 'with the beach imagery in an abstract way, to see if I could derive some of the Photoshop perfection of the skies and the color, and the depth and space'. It is that distilled response to evocative commercial images that Basher highlights throughout his work.
Along with his paintings, Basher is known for creating installations that mimic retail displays of consumer goods. Made from commercial materials like Plexiglas, aluminium, mirror film, and fluorescent lights, the sculptures mimic the right-angles and perfect finishes of storefronts, shop windows, and commercial signage.
Confounding the hierarchies of high-brow and low-brow objects, Basher creates contrasts within his complex installations by displaying items like fine liquors and hair-loss ointments together with mouthwash, paintings and drain cleaner. These juxtapositions, too, delve into the psychology of desire and consumption, but in this case in relation to objects.
I really like how Basher focuses on the materials and imagery of retail culture, and sets out to create this seduction in his work as that’s what I am interested in for a theme in many of my works. I enjoy the look of display aesthetics mimicked in art work and enjoy bashers use of realism in his painting in the works pictured. I think the theme itself doesn’t exactly jump out to me when I see bashers work but it’s interesting that he is working in the same field as ideas that I am.

TERRAZZO REPAIR AND RESTORATION Handyman Services Of Wichita can restore, re-polish and repair your terrazzo floors, walls or counters. Terrazzo is a unique stone finish that usually contains marble chips of different sizes and colors and it is held together with a cement base or in newer application held together with a resin or epoxy base. Restoration and Repair of Terrazzo Often, we will find terrazzo that has been coated with a wax. These waxes have a tendency to collect dirt and yellow which will require stripping and re-waxing. Terrazzo can be polished using a natural polishing process, much like with marble and granite, that eliminates the need to strip off the old wax finishes and can actually reduce the maintenance cost. When terrazzo is finished naturally you can achieve a gloss or matte finish that looks better than any topically treated finish. Handyman Services Of Wichita Using the proper cleaners and care products will keep your terrazzo looking like new with minimum maintenance. Beautiful Terrazzo Terrazzo Repairing ,Cleaning & Restora Wichita KS So, there you are, ripping up your old flooring. As you get down to what was there before, you realize you are one of the lucky homeowners who have beautiful terrazzo hiding under that flooring you’ve gotten tired of. Maybe you don’t feel so lucky, though after all, it can be hard to imagine that a floor with holes or chips from tacks, patches of epoxy that haven’t come up, or grit and scratches from years of feet pushing dirt down through the carpet could even come close to a brand new floor. But you couldn’t be more wrong! That’s the great thing about terrazzo even if it’s been buried under carpet or other flooring for years, or looks yellowed and ugly due to buildup and aging of topical coatings, its fundamental beauty is still there and can be restored by an experienced professional. There are other things to recommend terrazzo as well. Properly finished terrazzo is non-porous, does not support microbial growth, and contains no VOC materials, making it a “green”option and an excellent choice in support of indoor air quality. Terrazzo is also very easy and cost-effective to maintain. Daily dust mopping and regular wet mopping with either warm water alone or a neutral cleaner formulated for use on natural stone will do the trick. Not only do you not need harsh chemicals to get your terrazzo clean, they can actually damage the terrazzo (as well as the environment). So, what exactly is terrazzo? When originally developed sometime in the 15th century, it was comprised of marble chips set in clay. You can imagine this was not particularly comfortable to walk on, so methods were quickly developed to grind the rough surface down to something smoother. By the time it became popular in America in the 1950’s and 60’s, the marble chips were still present, but instead of clay, Portland cement was used as a binder. If you’re finding terrazzo under a long-standing flooring, this is probably what your terrazzo is made of. Modern terrazzo can also be created using an epoxy binder and an incredibly diverse range of aggregate materials, ranging from the traditional marble chips to more contemporary materials like recycled glass and plastics. In the hands of an Handyman Services Of Wichita experienced professional, the combination of aggregates and binders can allow for repairs of chips and holes in a way which blends well with the existing floor. In the wrong hands, such repairs can be unsatisfactory eyesores or worse. Be sure to ask potential contractors what their process is. If it does not involve making every reasonable effort to match the color of the existing binder, as well as the type of aggregate already present, keep looking at Wichita KS. Just like the components involved, finishing techniques have also evolved. While waxes or other finishes were often used to achieve shine in the earlier days of terrazzo’s popularity, today, when restored properly, such topical coatings are not required to either make the terrazzo look good or enhance its durability. Nor does terrazzo—antique or contemporary—require chemicals for the restoration process itself (unless an earlier coating material requires chemical stripping to remove it before restoration can begin). When selecting your restoration contractor, watch out for those who use chemical shortcuts to achieve results—your terrazzo may look gorgeous and shiny right after such a process is completed, but a finish created with topical coatings is not as cost effective, long lasting, or as “green”as a floor whose shine is achieved solely through honing and polishing with diamond encrusted pads of increasingly finer grit. Once your terrazzo is restored, you may wish to have it sealed to help protect against staining, but this is not the same as applying a coating. A sealer guards against staining by filling the pores of both aggregate and binder so it becomes more difficult for staining agents to sink in. Remember though, even if you do have your terrazzo sealed a sealer will not protect against etching caused by harsh chemicals or acidic liquids or foods. It is important to clean up spills right away. But this is good practice regardless of what your flooring is made of. So, if you’re looking for attractive, environmentally friendly flooring that is durable and easy to maintain, don’t disregard the potential of terrazzo just because it seems to have been neglected or is covered by unsightly coatings. A qualified restoration professional, experienced with terrazzo can turn that potential into a beautiful treasure. Mag Wheels Wellington
The components that need to be replaced most often are the pads. In fact, when you take your vehicle into the shop for a standard brake job, the mechanics are usually just changing the BPs. If your rotors have severe grooves or scoring as a result of constant exposure to heat and friction, the mechanic will usually machine smooth them. Pads need to be replaced when they become too thin to stop your car effectively. You can tell whether this is the case by looking at them. You should be able to see them through the alloy wheel cleaner, but if you're unable to do so, remove the tire to inspect them. BPs should be changed if there is less than a quarter inch of material present.  Below, we'll give you a quick guide for doing exactly that. Once you park your vehicle and engage the emergency brake, place something in the front and back of your rear tires. That will prevent your car from rolling when you lift the front on the jack. Next, organize your tools so you'll avoid searching frantically for what you need later. You'll need a tire iron, a jack, and something in which to place the lug nuts. Before you start jacking your car up, use the tire iron to loosen the lug nuts as you don't want to remove them; you merely want to create some slack.  Once you have loosened them with alloy wheel cleaner, position the jack and lift your vehicle. That will ensure you won't lose them. Then, remove the wheel to access the pads. Kneel down and inspect the assembly. You'll see the caliper, pads, and rotor. As a review, when you press down on your brake pedal, brake fluid is sent to each wheel. The fluid causes the caliper to squeeze the pads against the rotor. That is what generates the necessary friction to bring your vehicle to a stop. The pads are located on either side of the rotor and are fastened to the inside surface of the caliper.  Remove them and slide the component out. When you look at the underside of the caliper, you'll see the pads fastened by bolts. Take the bolts off and remove the pads from the caliper. Assuming they're worn down, set them aside and grab the replacements. Because the replacement pads will have more alloy wheel cleaner on them than the worn pads, you'll need to widen the gap in which they're set. There's a piston that you'll need to move back. You can usually do this by hand or with the help of a clamp.  Then, reassemble everything. Make certain that you tighten the caliper securely in place before replacing the wheels. Once the jack has been removed, take your vehicle for a short drive to test your new brake pads. You may hear a small bit of scraping for a few days, but that's common after performing this type of brake job. The important thing is that you're safe and your alloy wheel cleaner are less likely to become damaged.

Amelia & Atticus
The Wellington twins have graduated! That means it’s time to go out into the world and start being adults. But that’s no reason to drop their passions.
Amelia, who has always been obsessed with the ocean, moved to a beach side duplex in Kashmire Point. She has a part time job as a dolphin tank cleaner while she tries to get a fledgling surf board shop up and running. She loves being so close to the beach now.
Atticus, who has always been obsessed with music, moved to Memosa Bay and lives in a high rise apartment. He got a gig as a battle of the bands judge and speaking of bands, he is looking to form one to perform with at local bars.
