Hi! I'd like to rec Search and Rescue by snae_b. It's a human au where Aziraphale is a cameraman and Crowley does Search and Rescue operations in the Rocky Mountians. (And Bentley is an avalanche dog!) Its an absolute delight and am surprised it doesn't have more kudos.
Hello! Thank you for sending along this recommendation!
Search and Rescue by snae_b for marsch00 [Rated E, 18K words]
“Mount Meeker. Small avalanche from the sound of it, R2, R3 maybe. But we’ve got two missing hikers, caught in the powder, so at least a D2 in terms of force. Bentley and I are out first. Adam, you’re on extraction gear, Pepper, you’re on medical. We don’t know what shape these folks are in.” He finally sets his gaze squarely on Aziraphale, his eyes flick to the lens of his camera and back up again. “Stay out of the way.”
Aziraphale packs his camera gear and heads to the Rocky Mountains to film with an elite search and rescue team. Turns out the terrain isn't his only challenge.

One of the craziest skies I have ever witnessed....... I walked by the window, my jaw hit the floor, something audible came out of my mouth, I have no idea what.....I grabbed my camera, I adjusted my settings as fast as I could, I raised the lens and captured this......Just as a flock of red-winged blackbirds flew through the scene... It was about 15 minutes before official sunset, and the sun angle was just right to throw shadows from Longs Peak and Mount Meeker into the sky. I have seen something similar before, but not quite this crazy. Nikon Z9 with Nikkor 180-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens at 280mm, ISO 80, 1/500sec, handheld. On August, 23, 1926, Rudolph Valentino, Hollywood's biggest movie star, known to millions as "the Latin Lover" and "the Sheik", died at the age of thirty-one of a perforated ulcer. On the afternoon of August 15, the actor, who had always taken great pride in his physical perfection, was rushed to New York's Polyclinic Hospital after having collapsed in his hotel room. Three physicians were carefully chosen to cut into his body and arrest the poison spreading as a result of peritonitis. As he fought for his life on a white enameled iron bed located in a guarded suite on the eighth floor of the hospital, he did not know that below him an emotional frenzy was mounting. The hospital lobby had been transformed into a vast information center to disperse bulletins to the crowds who had gathered there demanding some news of the screen idol. [...]
A few days after the operation, Valentino's health seemed to improve. The hopeful news allowed analysts to reflect on the powerful anxiety that the actor's hospitalization had brought upon millions. The New York Times promptly published an editorial on the amazing power of the cinema to create heroes of mythic proportions. [...]
But the crisis did not abate. On Saturday, August 21, the actor's health suddenly took a turn for the worse. His pulse rate increased, and a raging fever plunged him into delirium. Pleurisy developed, and his breathing became labored. Priests were ushered in to administer Extreme Unction. A second wave of anxiety swept over the public, until Monday, when the dreaded news was released. Valentino had entered into immortality.
[...] Of his three attending physicians, Dr. Durham experienced a heart attack, Dr. Manning suffered from exhaustion, and Dr. Meeker hastened to write an apologia claiming that the medical attention given to the actor had been sound and proper. Barclay Wharburton Jr., a broker who had entertained Valentino in his apartment shortly before the collapse, disappeared into a sanitarium. In the frenzy of despair that gripped the globe, several suicides were reportedly committed in reaction to the actor's death. The most notable took place in London where a twenty-seven-year-old actress named Peggy Scott took an overdose of sleeping pills in a room where she had hung Valentino's autographed images.
"The immense interest shown in the outcome of Valentino's illness," declared the New York Times, "is a striking sign of what moving pictures have done to create a new mental attitude in vast multitudes of people. They come to regard a favorite screen actor as one whom they have known intimately."
The power of that media-generated image was tested most dramatically when Valentino's corpse was transferred under a cloth of gold to Campbell's Funeral Church in preparation for public viewing. Crowds gathered there before dawn, twelve hours before the doors were scheduled to open. By noon the numbers had swelled to over ten thousand, in spite of the heat and humidity of a torrid summer day. Police reinforcements were called in, for fear that the crowd might storm the funeral parlor. Fifty patrolmen and more than a dozen mounted police tried desperately to control the growing chaos that had halted traffic for blocks around Campbell's. By two o'clock, the size of the crowd had tripled. Additional police squadrons were rushed to the scene.
[...] Shortly after two, the crowd surged forward, breaking through the police lines and Campbell's plate glass windows. Three patrolmen, a photographer, and seven women were injured by flying glass. [...] Outside, the crescendo of hysteria mounted to a chain reaction, as more store windows were broken and parked cars were overturned.
[...]Over one hundred people had been injured. Ambulances carried away those who were bleeding and those unable to walk. Debris littered the street; umbrellas, hats, torn clothing, and twenty-eight separate shoes. The police claimed that the riot, both in size and behavior, was without precedent in the history on the city. [...]
The Vatican took a harsher view of the hysteria surrounding Valentino's death, calling it, "collective madness, incarnating the tragic comedy of a new fetishism."

Amber waves of grain in front of rolling foothills with the mighty Longs Peak and Mount Meeker rising up to a late afternoon summer sky. These mountains were favorite subjects of mine in the early days of PictureLongmont. I used fairly low-resolution cameras then, and well, actually still do. L'Anse Township is a civil township of Baraga County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the township population was 3,551. The township contains Mount Arvon and Mount Curwood, Michigans highest and second-highest points, as well as the village of L'Anse.
History
The township has a rich and varied history as far back as October 15, 1660, with the arrival of the first white man on record, French Jesuit priest René Menard. Menard spent the winter in what is presently known as Pequaming on Keweenaw Bay, and left the area for Fond du Lac the following spring, never to be heard from again. He was followed by Father Claude in 1666.
Over the next 200 years, the Chippewa tribe populated the area, and attracted the attention of trappers and traders throughout the Great Lakes. The American Fur Company established a trading post at Assinins by a man known only as Dubay. The Hudson's Bay Company had established a post near Zeba in 1836, which operated for about 15 years. Other early settlers included trappers and missionaries.
The first mission in the area was established in 1833 by a Chippewa who had converted to Methodism and taken the name of John Sunday. The first mission was located on the east side of the bay north of L'Anse at Zeba, with a second opened at Ottawa Lake in 1835. In 1834, Daniel Meeker Chandler left Sault Ste. Marie and headed west on Lake Superior by canoe. He arrived at his destination, called "Ke-Wa-We-Non", on September 3, and began mission work for the Methodist Church on the east side of Keweenaw Bay. The following summer, Chandler began cutting timber for a proposed Native American village known today as Zeba.
In 1836, a Canadian named Peter (Pierre) Crebassa was appointed as representative trader by the American Fur Company, and moved the post from its original location on the west side of the bay to a site north of L'Anse at the present day Township Park. Crebassa married a Chippewa girl, Nancy, and they were instrumental in convincing Father Frederic Baraga to establish a Catholic mission, which he founded at Assinins on the west side of Keweenaw Bay in 1843.
When Michigan became the 26th state in 1837, the western two-thirds of the Upper Peninsula were included as a compromise (Ohio received the "Toledo Strip"). In March 1843, the legislature divided the Upper Peninsula into several counties. Three years later, in 1846, the act was amended to make all that part of the state "embraced between the north boundary of township 49, the line between ranges 37 and 38 west and Lake Superior, together with islands in said lake west of the county of Schoolcraft, shall be laid off as a separate county, to be known and designated as the County of Houghton." The new county included the present-day Keweenaw and Baraga counties, and was organized into three election precincts (townships) at Eagle Harbor, Houghton, and L'Anse. The following year, the area was reorganized into the townships of Copper Harbor, Eagle Harbor, Houghton, Portage, Algonquin, and L'Anse, and the first election took place in July 1848.
The coming of the railroad spurred growth of the village of L'Anse in 1871, which prospered for a couple of years until the Panic of 1873.
Algonquin and L'Anse townships combined in 1875 to form Baraga County, and created the townships of Arvon, Baraga, Covington, Spurr and L'Anse.
In 1896, the village of L'Anse burned to the ground, but gradually rebuilt itself into a lumber town with the arrival of the Ford Motor Company in the early 20th century.

Why Colorado .. part I
Tumblr media
The late Great Jack Zumwinkel.... RIP!!
We go to Colorado annually .... and have been since the late 70′s? Truthfully I have since 1959.
a bit of history....
Its been pretty much the same place since the beginning. This place has been owned by the Zumwinkels since the late 1920′s. And still is by the Grandson Jon, who is my age.
The original Cabin was built by Grandpa for his Wife who suffered allergies. He built this for summer relief. These folks are Nebraski folks. He got the property via a homestead act of sorts. At the foot of Mount Meeker.
Grandpa built a true log cabin. Once established a cabin, requests for more cabins from friends and family. Which in turn he opened to the public, via word of mouth by the 1950′s.
The Kruse side of my family found out about this property, and we were all exposed to the life of the mountains.
1959 was our first year. I remember Old man Zumwinkel giving a rifle to my Pop to shoot a weazel who had been in the area. Different times. Outdoor picnic on the rocks. Huge herds of ground squirrels sprinkled with a few chipmunks. And some great local hikes. Scenery in this area still amazes me every year.
We went back again twice more n the 60′s.
Once Patti and I were married we went up in 1978 with our good pals Jeff and Anica Brown..... we hauled up Jeff’s 750 Yamaha, and my Norton. Patti was pregnant with Jake. Did some riding, hanging out, sight seeing a good time.
An interesting story with this trip....
We had bought a newer used car from Patti’s uncle before the trip. An attractive bright red with white top 70 torino convertible, and white interior. I still believe to this day, He sold us this piece of junk not knowing what it was. On this trip, the tranny barely held on to get us home. Patti and Anica had traveled down to Estes and the brakes went out. Etc. Etc. Etc. ....   Well it looked really nice.
A couple of years later with 2 kids we returned with Patti’s folks. From this period to now, we go just about every year. Jon Zumwinkles father Jack died (around 2000), and there was no one to run the place (Jon was still working full time in Ohio). The property set idle for some years. We would still go to Colorado in the very same area, and sneak onto the property and look around.
Why there?
Rocky Mountain National Park is RIGHT THERE. Its the back side of the park where there used to be many tourists, for years....  And is right up there with one of the most beautiful places on earth. Us flatlanders really appreciate that access.
Kids are young.... go into the park and hit all the high spots at least once. Do Trail ridge road drive.
Estes Park is 12 miles away..... nice town for shopping..... happy wife, happy life. Kids stuff, etc.
The Cabins/property is very primitive and old. When we first started attending regularly....  Wood stove to cook on. Wood stove to heat water for the shower. No radio. No TV. No cell service. Haul drinking water. No furnace. No Microwave. Real stone fire places. Folksie folks. Fully furnished with rustic furniture, pictures, paintings, drawings..... maybe even a piano, cookware, dinner ware, towels, bedding, fire wood. And a loft with beds.
No traffic noises to speak of and only 8 cabins.... very quiet. Back when my ears first started ringing... by the 3rd day up there, the ringing was gone.
Lots of various levels of hiking in the area.
I’d love to say tons of wildlife where the cabins are located, but that hasn’t been true until the past 10 years or so.
Now we’ve got siting's of Bears, Moose, Elk, Wolves, Cougars, Deer, Ducks, and who knows what else. This has been nothing short of thrilling. We never know what we are going to see each year, and are surprised by what happens. Now the ground squirrel population is way down.
Look for part II

I LOVE THIS! 🤩🤩🤩
This is such an amazing idea! And how the 40 each had a design to contribute to the bus is also chef kiss 🤌
Of course it would be called the Chaos Bus! Wouldn’t expect anything less!
In fact, may I present to you…
THE 40 HEADCANONS!
ROAD TRIP EDITION!
Schedules for picking music is A RULE they all must follow. They weren’t even out of the driveway when Ciel and Killua were fighting over classic vs rock, resulting in, not in chronological order:
A broken bus window
A flat tire
The roof of the being set on fire for 3 seconds before being put out
And a broken radio which was caused by a cd being launched at it with great force and precision to wedge itself in the cd player.
But if a song comes on that everyone likes, and as long as it is a mostly empty road in a rural area, they will roll down the windows and sing at the top of their lungs.
Mafuyu is the first one to fall asleep on the trip, resulting in the more mischievous younger members putting sticky notes on him to see how much they put on before he wakes up. Yes, Gojo does join in because was the one to provide said sticky notes.
Speaking of sleep, Saiki gave Mob noise canceling so he slept throughout the trip without any disturbance.
Unfortunately, Mako and Iruma are not allowed to hold on to the snack basket for more then five seconds and CANNOT be left alone with them. They will mindlessly binge eat on them. Ryota was placed in charge of the snacks.
Kobayashi is, of course, the designated driver. But putting aside technically road laws and whatnot, here is the list they (read, everyone except GOJO) compiled for “designated driver”
Kobayashi: Has a license and has never been in an accident.
Fujinuma: Got a license and while he rarely drives, he is still a pretty good driver.
Yuuri: Also has a license. Much meeker in his approach to driving but gets the job done.
Heine and Levi: They are tied as they don’t have a proper license but they are fast learners.
Spike: He won’t do it. Unless you bribe him.
Saitama: Would be higher on the list if his short temper didn’t get the better of him, resulting in him road raging.
L: Cannot. Drive. Kobayashi learned that the hard way.
U-1146: Also cannot drive. Yuuri learned that the hard way too.
Gojo and Italy: Gojo will break speed limits, treat the road like he is drag racing, and has already, and on purpose, ran someone over (who deserved it). Italy, meanwhile, cannot drive to save his, or any other life. No matter what he says, he cannot drive UNLESS it’s an emergency.
Of course they play punch buggy! But it’s on the fence of being banned right now, though Korra and Zuko are tied for the record for finding more buggies. (Though it's obvious they are targeting each other when playing.)
They almost got banned from a restaurant, so now when they stop to eat, they break into smaller groups. It’s easier this way.
But Rin and Soma are the ones who always want to stop at the famous/local restaurants of the state and see if it lives up to the hype.
Langa is banned from picking music, on the account he taught the younger members how to sing, “The Song That Doesn't End”. Their record is 43 minutes.
Senku, with the help of Edward, would try out experiments during their trip. Their most notable one was when they managed to sneak storm chasing equipment onto the bus and months prior Senku predicted when there was going to be a storm during the trip so those two were determined to chase said storm. Long story short, the idea was shut down quickly and for the rest of trip, those two were not to be left alone.
They do bring games to keep themselves occupied. Monopoly is banned for obvious reasons and Zuko is banned from playing UNO.
They are banned from the state of North Dakota, following the “Mount Rushmore” incident.
Emma is the blanket hoarder. Unintentionally.
Izuku and Nagisa collabed together to create an itinerary for the whole group as they traveled, which includes rest stops.
During one rest stop, Naegi and Tanjiro were chased by a Canada goose and ran for a good 15 minutes before managing to get on the bus.
Kuroko sits in the back corner of the bus, Hinata keeps him company.
And speaking of which, they have forgotten Kuroko at three different rest stops (Hinata is always the first to notice) and one time Hinata stuck by with him so that Kuroko “wouldn't be alone”.
If Hanako sees a trucker, he will signal them to honk their horns. He is 30% successful most of the time.
Once there was a jerk driver who gave the bird to the 40 kids when driving pass them. Haruhi and Legoshi had to hold back Edward from jumping out the bus and chasing after the guy.
Tohru and Chika spend their time on the road making paper crafts and bracelets.
Serinuma is the picture taker. No matter where and when, she will have a photo of every moment.
Korra had to stop Haruka from jumping into Lake Superior.
Tumblr media
IM FINALLY ABLE TO DO SOMETHING!! Hello everyone,I’m so sorry I was nearly radio silent for so long,I promise it’s still on works the universe travel lil comic and ice age arc but sadly being to a new class does being lots of stuff..nothing less,I had a thought! I wonder if the 40 have a collective “family car” when they want to just go somewhere in a simple style! Introducing the..as lovingly dubbed by Satoru Gojo “Chaos bus”
A normal car wouldn’t find them all so! XD a bus! Decorated by many of the members! I also got inspired by a scene from a comedy murder mystery movie XD @the-ravenclaw-werewolf @omnitheist27 @purplemochi20055
Also honestly…for the most part.DONT LET SATORU OR ITALY DRIVE PLEASE-
