Riverstar's Home cats! Small spoiler warning for light discussion of the cats below the cut.

First up is a few redesigns of Dart, Shine, and Flutter because now they aren't just featureless characters that are mentioned once and never again. I really liked Dart's design, so I kept it mostly the same. Shine got a good change, and Flutter had a complete overhaul. I liked Arc's design the way it is, so I didn't change it. The Cats of the Park elders are next, with Owl, Rust, and Midge. Owl's daughter is Finch Song, she's in the next post. After them is a few more CotP, with Magda, Squirrel, Stoat, and Moth. Moth is described as both "soft-spoken" and "cheerful, sparkled with energy", which I thought was a bit strange. Up next is Mist, Night's brother, and Hawk, a rogue who bullies River Ripple and then disappears. I was pleasantly surprised when Mist stayed alive the whole book, he seemed like the perfect candidate to just die at some point. He and Night look very similar. After them is Hollow and Croak, two loners from proto-Riverclan that officially joined. I love Croak's name. And finally after them is four loners from proto-Riverclan that did not end up joining; Whistle, Silver, Sage, and Woodlouse. It was mentioned that Silver was the first one to start decorating the dens with shells and reeds (probably) and other stuff like that, so I gave her an accessory bc if she likes to decorate dens then she would probably like to decorate herself. Found out a little too late that a 'woodlouse' is a roly-poly/pill bug.

I know a lot of people like to use moths in wc art to resemble eyes and such but I thought hm. moth wings also could look like ears so I did both

I'm not sure if this has been said before but one aspect to Warriors I literally cannot wrap my head around is that there is STILL a rule against medicine cats starting their own families, when the series has repeatedly and VERY explicitly established this rule as a BAD thing. There's just this weird disconnect between the narrative and the writing that I cannot wrap my head around.

The writers have never given us a story in which this rule has helped anybody or prevented any issue. Yet again and again they've only used this rule to establish "Literally has only ruined families and caused pain and heartbreak to our beloved characters." Yet for some reason they act like the clans still NEED this rule or...? Or what? They'll need help with their kits or something???

Like, not only does the rule have no actual benefit to the clans - as we have NEVER seen an instance in which a medicine cat having a family (under normal, socially accepted circumstance!) would seriously hurt others - but it is a rule formed from complete and utter idiocy to begin with! Not even a good reason! Like they could have given us a million different canonical stories behind why the rule exists, and they actually decided on something as stupid as.... Single teen mother with ADHD receives 0 help with her 4 kids by her entire community and cannot handle the stress....... LMFAOOO

They ACTUALLY expected us, the audience, to accept this as a valid reasoning for restricting the lives of literally every future medicine cat ever, and not an unfortunate individual circumstance. And THAT goes without even addressing the fact that Moth Flight literally just had the worst clanmates ever. The clans would never neglect to support any cat in helping to raise their kits, they are groups who rely on working together for god's sake. We literally have cats who do nothing EXCEPT help with that. And I think the writers KNOW this, so they quiet literally gave Moth Flight - specifically - the most unsupportive, idiotic clanmates ever just to excuse it. Like its actually lunacy

Moth Flight - Leafpool - Mapleshade

im feral about them. rambling under cut bc i have so many thoughts

i always see moth flight + leafpool and leafpool + mapleshade, but im shocked to not see moth flight + mapleshade more, and of course all 3 together

they have similar situations, and particularly mapleshade and moth flight have. eerily similar traits? prideful, easily jealous, and have strong faith in starclan.

all three lost their kits, whether willingly or not, they were not their to mother their kits. and i imagine neither moth flight nor mapleshade would like that leafpool got it “easy”, both would definitely be in the “leafpool didnt suffer enough actually” camp.

for moth flight she doesnt like seeing others happy when she couldnt, leafpool barely gave up her children, why is she allowed to be content when moth flight didnt even get to see her children constantly?

while mapleshade didnt even get to take care of her children since their lives were taken from her. leafpool basically had it perfect in maples eyes bc at least leafpool lived with her children. (unrelated but my ideal scenario in the last hope, that instead of attacking sandstorm and killing spottedleaf, itd be with leafpool and hollyleaf. i think itd be much more impactful to 1) see maple and leaf interact, and 2) have hollyleaf die for leafpool since she tried to kill her, itd come full circle)

theyre both envious and prideful, both take that anger and jealousy out on others in death (and life for mapleshade), with moth flight attempting to send anyone who breaks her rule to hell and mapleshade attempting to kill or at the very least physically harm those who got what she wanted but didnt get. but leafpool, whos children openly expressed their disdain for her (albeit not for too long), doesnt take out those negative emotions out on others, she doesnt blame squirrelflight for saying that her and bramble werent their real parents, she doesnt blame her children for being mad at her, and i cant imagine that moth flight or mapleshade would do the same. shes still kind regardless
