Remodeling A Bathroom With Creativity For A Luxurious Retreat
Tumblr media
Consider these innovative bathroom remodeling ideas if you're looking for a method to give your bathroom a touch more luxury. There are many methods to transform your bathroom into an opulent sanctuary, from unusual lighting fixtures to custom tile work:
Install a statement showerhead. An upscale statement showerhead is the ideal method to glam up and opulently decorate your bathroom. To make a statement, choose a showerhead or accessory with a distinctive design or several heads.
Replace your current tub with one that is more contemporary and opulent if you aren't ready to make the investment in a freestanding tub. Consider a tub with water jets for ultimate relaxation or search for one with fascinating forms and textures.
Put in custom tile work. You can utilize tile to give your bathroom lovely visual effects. To add a further element of luxury to your bathroom, think about putting elaborate mosaic tile designs, large-format stone slabs, or wood-look tiles.
Include statement lighting fixtures - Lighting fixtures are a wonderful way to give your bathroom a special touch. To give the space a more upscale appearance, think about adding sconces, chandeliers, or pendant lighting.
Include natural elements - You can add a luxurious, spa-like vibe to your bathroom by using natural materials like wood, stone, and marble. A wood-paneled wall or a stone countertop are two examples of how you can incorporate natural materials into your design.
Replace the vanity. A new vanity can quickly improve the appearance of your bathroom. A double vanity with lots of storage options might be installed, or you could choose something more contemporary like a floating vanity in a striking color.
Install heated flooring. Heated flooring is the ideal option to add more coziness and luxury to your bathroom. It will not only keep your feet toasty, but it can also provide your room a unique decorative accent.
You may create a beautiful sanctuary that's ideal for resting and relaxing with the help of these innovative bathroom renovation ideas. These suggestions might assist you in turning your bathroom into the ideal haven, whether you want to add a dash of glitz or simply make it more comfy.

If you wake up on a Sunday morning to find clear skies in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset, I urge you to go for a walk! I’ll readily admit that as a former Oakland resident, I prefer the sunny side of the Bay, but I was fortunate that a friend let me stay in her apartment in SF. This urban exploration covered about 4.2 miles, exploring the neighborhood’s quirky array of architecture, two sets of mosaic tiled steps - the Hidden Garden Steps and the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps as well as the topmost point of Grandview Park (and the associated grand view of SF). Urban exploring is the best! Which pic is your favorite? #sanfrancisco #sf #innersunset #bayarea #grandviewpark #ocean #pacificocean #urbanwalk #urbanexploration #urbanwalks #hiddenstips #tiles #mosaic #purplehouse #classiccars #architecture #houses #vwbus #vanagon #cityscape #city #cityskyline #neighborhoods #stainedglass #steps #stairs #hiddenstairs #mosaicsteps #succulent #victorianhouse #havelovewilltravel #optimisticanthro (at San Francisco, California)

Tumblr media
$      $0.99-$3
$$    $3-$7
$$$  $7-$15 and above
1. Bullnose Tile  $$
Address: 1783 Rogers Ave, San Jose, CA 95112
2. Tile & Stone Central   $$
Address: 2900 Lafayette St, Santa Clara, CA 95054
3. Porcelanosa   $$$
Address: 391 E Brokaw Rd, San Jose, CA 95112
4. Gooder Supply   $$
Address: 309 E Brokaw Rd, San Jose, CA 95112
5. Hera Tile & Stone   $$
Address: 1746 Junction Ave Ste A, San Jose, CA 95112
6. Uni Marble & Granite   $
Address: 1744 Junction Ave, San Jose, CA 95112
7. Terico   $
Address: 1723 Junction Ave, San Jose, CA 95112
8. Granite & Stone Expo   $
Address: 1722 Junction Ave Ste D E, San Jose, CA 95112
东湾
1. Jerong   $$
Address: 2460 Radley Ct, Hayward, CA 94545
2. Uni Tile & Marble   $
Address: 21105 Cabot Blvd, Hayward, CA 94545
3. Bedrosians - Tile & Stone   $$$
Address: 27695 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544
4. Casa Viva Concepts Tile - Imports   $$$
Address: 21087 Cabot Blvd #2, Hayward, CA 94545
5. Pacific Home Decor   $$
Address: 1500 W Winton Ave, Hayward, CA 94545
6. Sincere Home Decor   $
Address: 115 Market St, Oakland, CA 94607
7. Granite Expo   $
Address: 1368 40th St, Emeryville, CA 94608

$700,000 Homes in California – The New York Times
Los Angeles | $675,000
A one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo in a 1930s building
This second-floor apartment is in a 22-unit Spanish Revival building that the city declared a historic-cultural monument in 1989 and that was renovated in 2007. It is in Westwood, less than half a mile south of UCLA’s campus and a block east of the Hammer Museum on Wilshire Boulevard, with its popular new bistro, Audrey at the Hammer. The pedestrian-friendly neighborhood has a walk score of 94.
Size: 704 square feet
Price per square foot: $959
Indoors: The unit sits above garage bays like a carriage house and has an exterior brick staircase leading to the private main entrance. The front door opens into a living and dining room with a wall of windows overlooking a courtyard and French doors leading to a veranda that runs the apartment’s width. Turning right takes you into a small eat-in kitchen with appliances lining the subway-tile walls on two sides.
To the left of the entrance is the bedroom, which has windows on two walls and a spiral staircase leading to a lower-level laundry area. The single bathroom has a combined tub and shower with marble-tile walls.
Outdoor space: The lower level takes you to a one-car garage space and a private enclosed patio with brick paving.
Taxes: $7,703 (2018, based on a $634,918 assessment), plus a $351 monthly homeowner’s fee
Contact: Heather T. Roy or Learka Bosnak, Douglas Elliman of California, 424-202-3208; heathertroy.elliman.com
Oakland | $699,000
An 1890 frame house with four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms
This house in the West Oakland neighborhood was bought in 2015 and overhauled. The work included upgraded plumbing and electrical; new floors, kitchens and bathrooms; seismic improvements; and fresh paint. It is two blocks south of the MacArthur Freeway and two blocks west of San Pablo Avenue. The MacArthur BART station is about a mile northeast, less than 20 minutes of travel time to San Francisco.
Size: 1,494 square feet
Price per square foot: $468
Indoors: The vintage character remains in moldings, pocket doors and the original banister with its chubby newel post. The living room connects to a large eat-in kitchen with a vintage stove, farmhouse sink and quartz countertops. Off this room is a bedroom with windows on all four walls. The en suite bathroom includes a stand-alone tub and a white tiled shower.
Three additional bedrooms are on the second floor, with original dark wood floors and angled ceilings. The upstairs bathroom is lined in white subway tile and has a combined tub and shower. There is also a separate closet with a hookup for a washer and dryer.
The daylighted basement is unfinished.
Outdoor space: The 0.07-acre lot is fenced all around and includes drought-resistant plants and ground cover. The driveway has parking space for one car.
Taxes: $6,076 (2018, based on a $412,858 assessment)
Contact: Benjamin Faber, Redfin, 415-881-4302; redfin.com
Palm Springs | $659,000
A condominium in a 1971 building, with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a private swimming pool
This home is in Marabella Estates, a 20-unit leased-land complex in South Palm Springs, less than three miles southwest of the international airport, on the edge of the city. Boutiques, restaurants and a Koffi cafe branch are just a few minutes away. The complex does not allow pets unless they have been certified as service animals.
Size: 2,466 square feet
Price per square foot: $267
Indoors: All of the homes in the development are horseshoe shaped and have glass interior walls facing a courtyard. In this particular unit, a private pool and hot tub were installed about five years ago in the courtyard space and can be reached directly from the living room and master bedroom.
The home’s unsurprisingly midcentury-modern style (this being Palm Springs) is reflected in the transparent walls and white-marble flooring, as well as the conversation pit that faces the living room’s white-brick fireplace. The open kitchen has quartz counters, mosaic-tile trim and upper cabinets with frosted-glass doors. (The kitchen and bathrooms were updated in the recent renovation.) Room for dining is in a corner looking out to a veranda.
The master bedroom is on the other side of the kitchen. Its en suite bathroom has blue mosaic-tile walls, a separate tub and shower, extensive built-in storage and its own view to the pool. The two additional bedrooms also have en suite tile-accented bathrooms (in pinks and golds). Finally, there is a small study and closet with a washer and dryer.
Outdoor space: The veranda is wide enough for seating; it overlooks the communal lawn and mountains on either side of the complex. Residents also can use the two communal swimming pools and tennis court. Parking is in a one-car garage.
Taxes: $8,238 (estimated), plus a $667 monthly homeowner’s fee, paid twice a year

My husband and I recently spent 5 days in the Bay Area. We were blessed to be able to explore both Oakland and San Francisco. We had the time of our lives! I wanted to share a few places we were able to visit in San Francisco. All of the places mentioned are equally awesome and pretty affordable, if not completely free!
  1. The Museum of Ice Cream is an ice cream and candy lover’s dream! At the MOIC you will find brightly colored ice cream and candy themed exhibits. It reminded me of a pink version of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with mint rooms, unicorns, and a pool of sprinkles! It definitely brought out the kid in me and awakened my imagination. Photography is encouraged so be sure to bring your camera and have a blast!
 2. In 1992 six San Francisco residents created the Clarion Alley Mural Project. Here you will find a 560 ft long Alley full of brightly colored murals with powerful and expressive messages attached to them. Clarion Alley is the second most popular muraled alleyway in the Mission District.  It is located off of Valencia Street between 17th and 18th streets. To learn more and support CAMP’s mission, visit clarionalleymuralproject.org
   3. Mosaic Steps/16 Ave. Tiled Stairs are a unique, multi-colored tiled community project located at the corner of 16th Street and Moraga Street. You can see the entire tile design when standing at the bottom of the stairs. Be sure to climb to the top where you’ll find a beautiful view of the city.
4. Catch a ferry to the one and only Alcatraz island and Penitentiary home of some of the most notorious criminals in history such as Al Capone (“Scarface”), Robert Stroud (“Birdman of Alcatraz”), George Celino Barnes (“Machine Gun Kelly”), and Alvin Francis Karpavicz (“Creepy Karpis”). You are able to tour the cell house at your own pace where you’ll hear the award-winning audio presentation “Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell House Tour”. You will be able to hear stories from former inmates, stand inside inmate cells and solitary confinement, visit the Warden’s office, and more. You are pretty much free to roam the island aside from a few restricted areas.
  5. Pier 39 is a great place for family fun and shopping. It’s pretty much a two-level outdoor mall on the pier. There are plenty of souvenir shops and many restaurants to choose from. You’ll also find live music, a merry go round, and sea lions laying out on floating wooden panels!
  6. Some of you may recognize these stunning Painted Ladies from the opening credits of the TV show Full House and sequel Fuller House. You can find this row of Victorian houses also known as “Postcard Row” at 710-720 Steiner Street.
Be sure to also check out Alamo Square Park located across the street.  This is the perfect place to have a picnic offering a phenomenal view of the San Francisco skyline!
  7. Lombard Street is one of the most crooked streets in the world. At the top of Lombard Street, you will find amazing views of the bay and city. You are able to walk or drive down this steep, curvy, red brick hill. My husband and I did both! You will also find some of the most unique homes and flower gardens on Lombard Street.
8. Relax in awe and catch a beautiful sunset at Bakers Beach. You’ll witness some of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a great place to relax in the incredibly soft sand and enjoy the sounds of the ocean.
On the way to Bakers Beach, you will find some of the most breathtaking views of the Bay, mountains, and greenery. My husband and I were completely mind blown.
9. The Japanese Tea Garden is located in the center of Golden Gate Park. It is full of color, maple trees, flowers, rock gardens, a moon bridge, and sculptures influenced by Buddhist and Shinto religious beliefs. This calming landscape is the perfect place to relax.

10. The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic landmark representing San Francisco. I still cannot believe that I was able to see this bridge in person. My husband and I drove across it while on our way to Baker Beach (we made a wrong turn) Let’s just say it was the best wrong turn ever made, lol. The views from the bridge were simply breathtaking. We didn’t have the chance to walk across it although, I plan on doing so next time.
I really enjoyed my time exploring San Franciso and Oakland. Both cities are uniquely beautiful offering incredible views, cultural diversity, and delicious food. The weather was beautiful averaging 70 degrees during the day. The people were welcoming and carefree. We definitely plan on making our way back to the Bay Area in the near future!
What are some places you are dying to visit? Share below!
Peace and love,
Jessi

Remodeling a bathroom with new shower tile and flooring
Tumblr media
The entire appearance of your bathroom can be significantly improved by installing new shower flooring and tiling. Refreshing your shower tile is a fantastic place to start if you're looking for a simple update. Since there are numerous tile options, it's critical to pick one that complements both your style and your budget.
A feature wall in the shower can be made with colorful tile mosaics or large format tiles for a sleek and modern appearance. Make sure to choose a tile that will be able to tolerate ongoing dampness and heat when choosing your new tile. In addition to shower tile, you should think about your options for new flooring.
For a sturdy and fashionable bathroom floor, you can choose from a number of materials like ceramic, stone, and vinyl. In bathroom remodeling projects, luxury vinyl tile is quickly gaining popularity as a low-maintenance solution. It offers the appearance of stone or wood but is more resilient to water.
It's time to begin your bathroom remodeling project once you've selected the ideal tile and flooring alternatives. Prior to making any purchases of materials, be sure to take precise measurements of the space and, if necessary, get professional assistance. Use the proper equipment, such as spacers, trowels, and grout, if you intend to do the tile installation yourself for the best results. You may quickly refresh your bathroom by using these suggestions to make a few little changes.
You'll be astounded at how quick and simple it is to design a gorgeous new home! There are a few finishing touches you can add to your bathroom after you've finished your job to improve the overall appearance.
For a splash of color and texture, think about adding a few decorative features like bookcases, mirrors, or artwork. You can create a beautiful retreat in your bathroom with these simple additions! Wishing you success with your renovating endeavor!

The last series from my recent California urban walking explorations. This outing was focused on street art spotting and architecture eyeing with my friend Christine in Oakland. We had intended to cover more ground, but there was so much packed into a small area, that this was basically all in four square blocks of Uptown. One thing I love about this area of Oakland is that it has some extraordinary early 20th century buildings like the amazing deco of the Fox theater (pic 1) and the emerald green I. Magnin Building and as well as the black and orange tiled Howden building (not pictured). I love that Oakland isn’t scared of street art and murals on iconic buildings. For instance the beautiful piece by Zio is on the backside of the iconic Cathedral Building (pic 2) which is sometimes referred to as the Flatiron building of the West. I’ve shared with people that I see street art as an indicator of a city’s paychology. Oakland’s street art is so energetic and proud and colorful and global, like the city itself. However the loss is there too, a lot of dedications and RIPs scattered throughout the work, a lot of tagging and throw ups as this part of the city is going through a significant period of change and gentrification. It comes through in form too - beautiful throw ups in alleyways versus clearly commissioned murals on buildings. Though, I do think it’s neat to see how Oakland’s iconic mosaic trash cans are starting to get some beautiful painted and decoupaged utility box neighbors (pics 8 & 9). #oakland #oak #theoak #oaktown #eastbay #california #urbanwalk #urbanexploration #uptown #streetart #murals #graffiti #architecture #deco #zio #glass #havelovewilltravel #city #optimisticanthro #throwups (at Oakland, California)
