Assuming it was one of the Heroes of Yore, I could see Morpho spending time in areas where it used to hang out with its friends. And knowing that they've suffered for as long as they have, it probably wants to help them.
The only one they would be able to help though are the the Heroes of Dreams, who was reincarnated as Elfilin. As for the Hero of Darkness, he died from Zero's metaphorical hands after he helped seal Void, though there are two Dark Matter who are made from that same darkness that made the hero.

Also while im still at it with my random sudden bouts of Kirby Hyperfixations
Kirby Star Allies Guest Star Mode was a legend and a warning of things to come in the future. "On the day of judgment, this fluttery fiend will fly into action. Brought into existence by “the greatest warrior in the galaxy” and reborn as a knight of doom through years of adversity—now begins an epic battle with a pure being twisted by a dark past."
"Come judgement day, this fluttery fiend will fly into action. Will it land in a dream world, or a nightmare? It has mastered its new abilities, now all will witness its true power!"
Judgement Day coincides with Fecto's attempt at effectively crashing two planets with one another. Yet, said judgement day occurs nearly a second time once having slipped away through Leongar's Mind, which was in a nightmarish state due to the damage caused by Elfilis' Powers, hence "or a nightmare?".
Which has brought me to the conclusion that: Galacta Knight will make his appearance, and its entirely uncertain whether or not Morpho Knight was absorbed into Elfilis the moment they were defeated as a means to obtain a "second wind", although this is most likely case out of anything.
What this means is that Impending Doom is approaching, and there will probably not be a silly butterfly to save the fate of whatever Kirby villain is up next. I expect E For Everyone to T for Teen Carnage to occur.
Also the Ancients treated the Another Dimension as the ocean and dumped whatever problem they had in the past into said metaphorical ocean and its coming back to bite people in the ass.

Created a new Mythical Pokemon to try and prove that Bug types can, in fact, be scary, inspired by that Pokemon Shimmer idea of mine. Though I should note that I've never really made a fakemon before, as you will probably be able to tell.
Chromalocera Color Pokemon Mythical Bug/Psychic
HP: 125 Attack: 50 Defense: 130 Special Attack: 150 Special Defense: 130 Speed: 115 Base Stat Total: 700
Ability: Color Guard - Halves damage of all light based attacks and removes their effects by muting their colors.
Signature Moves:
Grayscale: Change all target's move typings to Normal for 3 turns. Can only be used once, on first switch in. Prismatic Beam: Randomize all target's move typings. Can be used on allies and enemies, but not on self. Rainbow Burst: 100 power 10PP Special Attack applies a random type with each use but always keeps STAB.
Chromalocera is a butterfly Pokemon, and was inspired by the Blue Morpho Butterfly. While it's well known for its vibrant blue color, it actually contains no pigmentation whatsoever - the blue we see is created entirely by how the shapes and angles of its wings' scales refract light.
Similarly, as the Color Pokemon, Chromalocera's entire shtick revolves around using light to change the color of things around it in both a literal and a figurative sense. It can mess with the literal colors of the world and other Pokemon around it, yes, but taken metaphorically, people and things are also "colored" by the individual quirks and traits that flavor their personality and nature.
The typing associated with a move, the behavioral characteristics common to specific species, the unique likes and dislikes or quirks of people and Pokemon alike - all these things "color" our image of what these things are to us and complete that image in our heads. As the Color Pokemon, Chromalocera can mess with these just as freely as it can the actual colors we perceive with our eyes.
As you can see, there is an inherent level of randomness to the signature moves of this Pokemon, too. You have no say in what type your signature attack is or what you manipulate your opponents' moves to be - they could be super effective, not very effective, or end up having no effect at all.
It's a gamble each and every time, but with its incredibly high base stat total and monstrous Special Attack, when the odds are in your favor it can hit like a freight train. Its high defenses and Color Guard ability also ensure that while as a Bug type it does have a lot of common weaknesses, it also has considerable bulk on both sides of the aisle and can further nerf certain types of attack that would otherwise hit hard.
Add onto that a respectable HP and high Speed stat to go along with it, and this is one Bug that could more than fell even the mightiest of Dragons.

I decided to take a crack at the passage. (Disclaimer: I am not very good at Greek.) Here's a rough morpho-syntactic parse:
[_TP Ἠιτήσθω [_TP' [_PP1 ἀπὸ παντὸς σημείου] [_PP2 ἐπὶ πᾶν σημεῖον] [_vP [_NP εὐθεῖαν γραμμὴν] ἀγαγεῖν]]]. ἠιτήσθω : αἰτέω, 'ask, beg, assume', 3rd singular perfect imperative mediopassive ἀπὸ : 'from' παντὸς : παν- 'all, every', singular neuter genitive σημείου : σημεῖ- 'mark, sign', sg.neut.gen ἐπὶ : 'to' πᾶν : παν-, sg.neut accusative σημεῖον : σημεῖ-, sg.neut.acc εὐθεῖαν : εὐθ- 'straight', sg.fem.acc γραμμὴν : γραμμ- 'line', sg.fem.acc ἀγαγεῖν : ἄγω 'carry, lead, draw', aorist infinitive active
The matrix verb is a 3rd person imperative, hence "let"; and it's in the passive perfect, which indicates an ongoing result state and can be translated as either "have been" or "be". So something like "let/may (it) be assumed".
The embedded verb is an infinitive, but ancient Greek infinitives can have declarative/realis force and be translated with a finite verb in English. The aorist indicates completed action. So I think this literally says "from every point to every point (it) draws a straight line". We could either take "draw" in a metaphorical or at least non-physical sense, or infer a possibility operator, maybe induced by the infinitive or by the desire operator in the matrix clause.
I think a decent sense translation would be "It is postulated that for any two points there is a straight line between them."
Do you think it's possible to draw a line somewhere
No

I finally rustled up an older Moe design I like...
So yeah, a casual outfit and her work outfit (mostly) as a gym teacher. She’s got a very strong sense of justice but she’s still a bit of a delinquent. I imagine she grew up a bit but Moe’s so strongly Moe she’ll never change, really.

There's Only Butterflies (Take Me Away)
Pairing: Stephen Strange/Reader, Strange Supreme/Reader, Defender Strange/Reader, Supreme Strange/Reader, Sinister Strange/Reader
Summary: It’s a pocket-dimension full of sunshine, with love that’s all theirs.
Warnings: Kidnapping, Obsession, Some Sexual-ish Content, Blatant disregard for responsibilities to multiple realities
The universe was created just for her.
That's not her being arrogant, that's just a fact.
They call it a pocket dimension.
She simply calls it home. Well, now she calls it home, at least. It’s taken her longer than they would have liked, but she’s mostly made her peace with it.
It’s lovely, she can't deny that.
Every store is perfectly to her taste; all clothing fits perfectly. Only the softest of luxury fabrics are allowed to touch her skin, and while she can wear whatever she wants, after a while it just becomes easier to dress in clothing they prefer. Flowing dresses, robes, and ballet flats that cushion her feet *just so* become her staples and in truth, she finds herself preferring it that way.
There is every food she loves available to her at any time with no sign at all of any of the foods she hates. In fact, food has never been so decadent, so filling, or satisfying. Even her paltry skills in the kitchen yield exquisite results come meal time.
One of them jokes that her cooking is better than eating a full set of infinity stones.
(She’s fairly certain he isn’t joking.)
The people, if one could call the beings inhabiting her universe that, wisp around her. Interactions are pleasant and uplifting when they happen. Then the beings fade away with distance like some kind of video game.
Night skies, when clear, showcase the purple violet twinkle of billions of stars along with beams of the double amethyst moons. Stormy nights have rolling ruby clouds and breathtaking orange lightning, thunder echoing vibrant green. The snow is perfect icy blue, dancing its way down from the heavens and piling at her booted feet.
She makes snowmen of each of them, delighted when they grumble about which one is best or would win in a battle. Their egos can be so fragile.
By day all beaches are white sanded with crashing cerulean waves graced with silver foam… waves that rise up and up before crashing into themselves and rushing up to meet the shore and run between her painted toes. At night the sand is obsidian against emerald oceans.
She builds countless sand castles of both white and black sand, each more elaborate than the last. Sometimes she lets them help, as a treat.
She never burns in the sun.
They ensure she burns in other ways. The best ways.
She has magnificent gardens full of rare and exotic flowers from every universe they’ve inhabited. Some trees offer fruit - and yes, she’s Eve with the apple but it doesn’t matter because the knowledge they offer is worth more than any tale an old book could spin. The grass is always perfectly soft under bare feet, and varies between green and blue and nearly every color she’s ever imagined, depending on the garden’s mood. The shade is always just enough, and the giant toadstools can either be used as seats to rest upon or another source to withstand the sun.
There are only five kinds of butterflies in this universe, curiously. Morpho aega, Napocles jucunda, Morpho sulkowskyi, Callicore cynosura, and Morpho achilles violacrus. The metaphor is a bit on the nose, but she humors them.
She lives in a pretty little fairy tale-like cottage… from the outside. Inside, it’s everything from a metropolitan penthouse to an expansive country palace. Doors open to the beaches, the gardens, cities full of life that wisp around to and fro.
As a child she dreamed of the library from Beauty & the Beast with its spiraling cases and grand splendor. The library they’ve given her is beyond those wildest dreams. Perhaps one day she will venture beyond her favorites and maybe even read a few favorites of theirs. Belle only had the one beast. She has five.
Sometimes there are rooms with nothing but the plushest, comfiest chairs just waiting for her to curl up in with her favorite book or latest crochet project. Other times she has her own theaters showing her favorite movies and television shows as well as movies not yet released. She has more than one pool, though she’s never bothered to count them after stumbling upon the fifth one. At least two are outside, along with lounging chairs or floats.
She can sleep in a different bedroom every night if she so desires.
They’ll find her, wherever she chooses and the rough drag of either a goatee or sometimes blackened fingers against her bare neck or slick folds will inevitably rouse her from sleep.
She can go anywhere she wants in this universe that has been created for her.
Anywhere except away from them.
(After a few thousand loops, she’s stopped even trying.)
This universe was created just for her.
They were the ones who created it and locked her in.
She’s had to figure out what to call them, since they are all Stephen and completely different.
Stephen she knew first - the architect of victory over the Mad Titan though it took five years and an unbearable loss he carried with him, always.
Then there was Strange, who stumbled upon them after conquering (re: swallowing) a multi-dimensional-traveling demon. She feared for her Stephen, but somehow an accord was struck.
She’d lived with Stephen and Strange for a number of months, hidden away safely in the Sanctum, adored at every opportunity by a man who was learning to overcome his fears and a man who’d learned he had nothing left to fear.
There was her Defender, her Sol, another Stephen who had been thrown into their reality by accident and was both unable and wholly unwilling to leave when he saw her.
After that, it wasn’t long before the universe started glitching.
Paradoxes upon impossibilities, ramblings by stolen lives about a sacred timeline, dreams where reality itself was shattering into trillions of billions of pieces.
A plan was made. What that plan was, she hadn’t known - they’d put her to sleep, unwilling to risk upsetting her. Or risk her leaving, she’d later realized.
She woke up - more than three years later - to find not only Stephen, Strange, and Defender, but two more. One she’d nicknamed Supreme, and the other, Sinister.
Of course, it’s never Defender, Supreme, and Sinister to their faces. They are Sol, Doc, and Vincent.
Five sorcerers supreme abandoned their realities for her, creating a new self-contained universe for her.
If that isn't love, then it's obsession at the very least and after a fashion, isn't that the same thing?
It's what she tells herself, at least.

lily liveblogs “Infinity Train,” S4
I usually wait for spoilers to see if I'm gonna watch something, but I took leap with S4 of Infinity Train and I was not disappointed. Truly a great experience.
NOTE: this is all pretty generic, but tagged for spoilers just in case.
Ep. 1, Alternate Title: "One Train May Hide Another" (to quote Kenneth Koch)
great use of split screen!
Amelia: lol, 2-for-1 deal, can u believe this? One: uh, yeah, it's math
(that chassis is super creepy btw)
well that wasn't an ominous ending or anything
Also I prefer One-One to One? Just sayin'
It's hilarious because it's the 1980s in the outside world and the train looks exactly the same.
Kez:*says literally anything* Me: I LOVE HER.
"Sometimes numbers are part of the problem" - YOU DON'T SAY
I love how Kez has a reputation... and deserves it
THE OLD WEST BUG CAR
the ladybug pulling the wagon!!!
THE CAT WITH OJOU-SAMA CURLS I CAN'T EVEN
Ryan: *rolls for seduction*
"the honorable and migratory Judge Morpho"
Ryan is literally a D&D Bard character, I love it
all the American cuisine jokes are spot on, lol. "tomato frost", lol.
DRAMATIC COOKING MONTAGE
I never would have guessed the Pig Baby Car in a million years, y'all
looks like One is having.... issues...
[where's tulip when you need her? OH WAIT SHE HASN'T BEEN BORN YET]
Ryan trying to jump through the painting is PEAK FORM (wrong genre, sorry!)
THE TROMPE L'OEIL IN THE ART GALLERY AHHHHHHHHH
of all the times for the door to show up
wow if that labyrinth isn't a well-timed metaphor for ISSUES
"well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions"
don't you just love it when your enemies trip over themselves?
excellent use of a gender-neutral name there!
Ohhh, that was the coup, lol... I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, WRITERS.
and we end with a song!!! yeah!!
THAT WAS SO GOOD Y'ALL AHHHHH
The series was canceled while they were working on S5, so S4 doesn't feel like an ending, but it's way better than going out on S3, which was a total gut-punch.

((so it’s pride, and I have more Morpho gender thoughts: ))
I think it would’ve been really easy for me to sort of disregard the fact that they are over 500 billion years old. I see that a lot with immortal/long-lived muses, that sheer amount of time just sort of becomes immaterial. It would have been easy for me to play someone who is in theory 500 billion, but in practice close to my own age. ESPECIALLY in their “humanlike” vessel. There’s nothing wrong with that, either, I just see it a lot.
But I made it so the amount of time they’ve lived is obvious. They have millennia of regrets to look back on, and whenever they enter a flesh vessel... it ages. The hair goes white, they gain lines and wrinkles, it reflects the fact that they are old and they feel old in their heart.
Part of that is because of character development reasons. Part of that is also because I wanted to have a nonbinary character who wasn’t a “kid”. There is a perception that transgender people are mainly in their 20s or younger, and there is dearth of older NB characters, so I wanted Morpho to be in that space. I know they’re just another example of the “genderless alien/robot/mythical creature” trope, but they’re also human in a lot of ways, and their gender, should they decide to continue spending time on Earth, would be another facet how they express their (metaphorical) humanity. Or literal humanity, should they decide to go that far.

I thought about this some more (at risk of becoming awkwardly long so putting a break)
Other than the makeup color superficially invoking this butterfly, despite his efforts to change there’s actually no indication that young Moriarty has changed from what will later become his older self, and the absence of the overt butterfly imagery might be an attempt to throw you off. Like, when he talks about rot, he specifically says “the fruits of humanity’s labors,” which as a metaphor still aligns w the morphos which is said to particularly love rotten fruit. And also note, when I talk abt the correlated symbolism like pretty much any butterfly will eat rotten fruit or meat for hydration, it’s more that these particular butterflies are recorded as having an obvious preference for these things which it seems Moriarty’s symbolism obviously leans into cuz like his profile mentions his enjoyment of rot multiple times.
Morphos of course means change, and he talks about his ability to change/ seems to lash out at characters he sees as incapable of change. but even older Moriarty’s blue butterflies turn purple under certain conditions, and the one on his coffin in particular is turning purple, which invokes that it’s a change correlated to death imagery. So his older self implicitly still has him outsmarted in the metaphor department and isn’t any more or less leaning into this symbolism than he is. Old Moriarty’s cane has the chameleon on it which is an animal that can change color so again invoking that he’s just painting something to look different than it actually is. Although, the occasional purple of older Moriarty’s butterflies is inaccurate to purple emperor and a more fantastical color no natural butterfly has, young Moriarty’s makeup is the exact correct color to a perhaps uncanny degree but it’s also. Taking the form of. Literal clown makeup. Like there is Symbolism going on here but it’s hard to pinpoint as this solid identifiable thing bc there’s so many layers to it and at a certain point he’s just being silly.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/03de477300f1ed7aafe2659325f919ff/b52db6d1afb8dce4-22/s540x810/6345f7ec5a458d6b7b0c3e74bf0fe4cb4e3b73ef.jpg)
Uuuuu its such a specific color. Moriarty’s makeup. It seems to be based on the purple emperor Apatura iris (likely not the smaller one ilia since the gold marks are more pronounced and striking on those) but since his older forms butterfly are some sort of morphos/emperor hybrid likely if we ever see his “butterfly of evil” it would be a unique creation using this base color, since for the most part none of the butterfly characters pull imagery from a singular butterfly but will often paint the outline of one butterfly with the colors of another
It’s purplish iridescence only shows when the light hits it right. Which is where the term apatura comes from, originally the word apaturia “deceiver” a very evil pun, “deceiving iris” both the goddess of the rainbow but the term for the colored part of the eye
It is known for being particularly attracted to rotten meat. Young Moriarty’s lines show a compounding obsession with rot as a concept
#phew#just wanna get that off my chest bc I didn’t expect people to like this post so much#edit: actually look at the third addition where I added someone else’s tags bc I was wrong abt what the blue butterflies are#they are Ulysses not morphos#the symbolism for change is still relevant to pretty much any butterfly but idk If the rotten fruit is relevant or not#it might be to purple emperor but probably not meant to be a morphos thing

“ANGELS & INSECTS” (1995) Review
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5fcf19c1c58303380f22f470215636ff/tumblr_inline_pdkmzcVwaA1rh0l03_540.jpg)
“ANGELS & INSECTS” (1995) Review
I never thought I would come around to writing this review. I have seen the 1995 movie, “ANGELS & INSECTS” a good number of times during the past five years. Yet, I never got around to posting a review of this movie, until recently. Why? I have not the foggiest idea. Nor do I have any idea why I had finally decided to write that review.
Based upon A.S. Byatt’s 1992 novella called “Morpho Eugenia”, “ANGELS & INSECTS”tells the story of a poor naturalist named William Adamson, who returns home to Victorian England after having spent years studying the natural wildlife – especially insects – in the Amazon Basin. Despite losing all of his possession during a shipwreck, he manages to befriend a baronet named Sir Harald Alabaster, who is also an amateur insect collector and botanist. The latter hires William to catalog his specimen collection and assist his younger children’s governess the natural sciences.
William eventually falls for Sir Harald’s oldest daughter, Eugenia, who is mourning the suicide of her fiance. Both of them eventually become emotionally involved and decide to marry. Much to William’s surprise, both Sir Harald and Lady Alabaster seems encouraging of the match. The only member of the Alabaster family who is against their upcoming wedding is Sir Harald’s eldest child, the arrogant Edgar. Not only is the latter close to Eugenia, he believes that William is unworthy of his sister’s hand, due to having a working-class background. The marriage between William and Eugenia seemed to be a happily lustful one that produces five children (among them two sets of twins). But Eugenia’s hot and cold control over their sex life, a constantly hostile Edgar, William’s growing friendship to Lady Alabaster’s companion Matilda “Matty” Crompton, and William’s own disenchantment over his role as Sir Harald’s official assistant brings their marriage to a head after several years of marriage.
The film adaptation of Byatt’s novella seemed to be the brainchild of Philip and Belinda Haas. Both worked on the film’s screenplay, while Philip also served as the film’s director and Belinda served as both co-producer (there are three others) and film editor. From my perusal of many period drama blogs, I get the feeling that “ANGELS & INSECTS” is not very popular with many of the genre’s fans. On the other hand, many literary and film critics seemed to have a very high regard for it. Despite my love for the usual romantic costume drama, I must admit that my opinions of the 1995 film falls with the latter group. It is simply too well made and too fascinating for me to overlook.
There were times I could not tell whether “ANGELS & INSECTS” is some look at the age of Victorian science exploration, the close study of an upper-class 19th century family, or a lurid tale morality. Now that I realize it, the movie is probably an amalgamation of them all, wrapped around this view on Darwinism and breeding – in regard to both the insect world and humans. The topic of breeding seemed to seep into the screenplay in many scenes. Some of them come to mind – Sir Harald and Edgar’s debate on the breeding of horses and other animals, William and Eugenia’s second encounter with moths in the manor’s conservatory, Sir Harald’s despairing rant on his declining usefulness within his own household, the reason behind Edgar’s hostility toward William, and the visual comparisons between the bees and the inhabitants of the Alabaster estate, with Lady Alabaster serving as some metaphor for an aging Queen bee on her last legs. The metaphor of the Queen bee is extended further into Eugenia. Not only does she assume her mother’s role as mistress of the house following the latter’s death; but like Lady Alabaster before her, gives birth to a growing number of blond-haired children. If a person has never seen “ANGELS AND INSECTS” before, he or she could follow both the script and cinematographer Bernard Zitzerman’s shots carefully to detect the clues that hint the cloistered degeneracy that seemed to unconsciously permeate the Alabaster household.
I cannot deny that “ANGELS & INSECTS” is a gorgeous film to behold. Philip and Belinda Haas, along with the film’s other producers did an excellent job in creating a visually stunning film with a bold and colorful look. Cinematographer Bernard Zitzermann, along with production designer Jennifer Kernke and Alison Riva’s art direction provided great contributions to the film’s visual style. But in my opinion, Paul Brown’s Academy Award nominated costume designs not only conveyed the film’s colorful visual style more than anything else, but also properly reflected the fashion styles of the early 1860s for women – including the growing penchant for deep, solid colors – as shown below:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f839ac3bd2f72b2e36eb31921149bf0f/tumblr_inline_pdkn3r9baS1rh0l03_250sq.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/420db4bf40861242209d778eeba8a81f/tumblr_inline_pdkn4k0nhD1rh0l03_250sq.jpg)
Adding to the movie’s rich atmosphere was Alexander Balanescu’s memorable score. I thought the composer did an excellent job of reflecting both the movie’s elegant setting and its passionate, yet lurid story.
As much as I enjoyed and admired “ANGELS & INSECTS”, I believe it had its flaws. I understand why Philip Haas had opened the movie with shots of William Adamson socializing with inhabitants of the Amazonian jungle, juxtaposing with the Alabaster ball given in his honor. Is it just me or did Haas use white – probably British – actors to portray Amazonian natives? I hope I am wrong, but I fear otherwise. I also feel that the movie was marred by a slow pacing that nearly crawled to a halt. I cannot help but wonder if Haas felt insecure by the project he and his wife had embarked upon, considering that “ANGELS & INSECTS” was his second motion picture after many years as a documentarian. Or perhaps he got caught up in his own roots as a documentarian, due to his heavy emphasis on the natural world being studied by William, Matty and the younger Alabaster children. In a way, I have to thank Balanescu’s score for keeping me awake during those scenes that seemed to drag.
I cannot deny that the movie featured some top-notch and subtle performances. Mark Rylance, who has a sterling reputation as a stage actor, gave such a quiet and superb performance that his reputation has extended to film, resulting in a Best Actor Oscar over a year ago. Kristin Scott-Thomas was equally superb as the Matty Crompton, Lady Alabaster’s very observant companion, who shared William’s interests in natural sciences. I have no idea what reputation Patsy Kensit has as an actress, but I certainly believe she gave an excellent performance as William’s beautiful and aristocratic wife, Eugenia Alabaster, whose hot and cold attitude toward her husband kept him puzzled. Jeremy Kemp gave one of his more complex and entertaining performances as William’s father-in-law, the amateur scientist Sir Harald Alabaster. Douglas Henshall had a difficult job in portraying the bullying Edgar Alabaster, who seemed to view William as both beneath contempt and something of a threat to his views of the world. The movie also featured solid performances from the likes of Anna Massey, Saskia Wickham, Chris Larkin, Clare Redman and Annette Badlands.
Some fans of period drama might be taken aback by the graphic sexuality featured in the film, along with the story’s lurid topic. And director Philip Haas’ pacing might be a bit hard to accept. But I feel that enduring all of this might be worth the trouble. Philip and Belinda Haas, along with the crew and a cast led by Mark Rylance, Kristin Scott-Thomas and Patsy Kensit did an excellent in re-creating A.S. Byatt’s tale on the screen, and creating a first-rate movie in the end.
