Small Kal update
I am very fond of lists and bullet points so I'm going to make this post, and hopefully more if I manage to stay consistent, to update everyone following my WIPs about their progress.
The King's Hound
You might know that the update, which consists of the second part of chapter 2, is 95% done in terms of writing. Unfortunately, it has been for quite a while, and though I had hoped to release it by September, at the latest October, it's clear that I need a bit more time.
The main reason, just so you all are aware and know what to expect from me and my games, is that I started a three year university course, Dietetics, and the lessons alone go from 9 am to either 4 pm or 6 pm (plus, I have almost four hours a day total of commute). It's not difficult per se, but it is physically draining and takes a lot of time and energy out of me.
Personal update aside, last weekend I managed to:
Edit Arthur and Gwyar's first pov scenes in game. I think I am finally satisfied, and hopefully you will be too
Polish the code a bit.
Not much, but still. What's left to do for the update is:
Edit Morien's first meeting with MC in chapter 2
Finish writing the ROs scenes in chapter 2 (part 2)
Code chapter 2 part 2 (😭)
I'll keep you updated if I manage to get some progress done in the weekend!
Golden Ashes (blog)
Last week I finally changed the title and the blog aesthetic, so there's that. I am very happy with the new look. As for the rewrite:
I have been slowly working on it since summer. The total wordcount is around 3k words, and it includes Cherena's first meeting + dragon MC's introduction into society. It's about 30% of the updated Prologue.
I have done a bit of work on the Twine UI for Golden Ashes, but with the Sugarcube update I will need some help to have it all working as it should. Still, it's mostly done so it shouldn't require much additional time
Aand that's all. See you soon❤

0. Decision
Kind of part of @ringleaderising's Tooth application! But this was mostly a fun way to establish the dynamic between the leaders of the Realmwalker Corps. You can have competent leaders who care about you or you can have leaders who all get along! Anyway. From left to right, according to the pictures above: Udyr, Agramant, Verbena, Morien and Voltimand.
There were many things in his life that Agramant considered a waste of time, chief among them the biweekly meetings the heads of the Realmwalker Corps held. He’d attended enough of those meetings that he knew how every one went:
Verbena would go down the agenda with his usual steadfastness, then Morien, impatient as ever, would make a snide remark on the speed or the tone or the content of his delivery. Verbena would bring the whole meeting to a halt to address that. Morien would retort with her usual derisiveness, and on and on it would go until Voltimand put a stop to the quarrel.
They’d just finished fighting over a word that Verbena had stuttered slightly in pronouncing. Fortunately, there were only two more items left on the agenda. Agramant pinched the bridge of his nose with one claw and massaged his bad leg with the other, turning his exhale of pain into a sigh. Only a few more minutes now.
Pain momentarily forgotten, Agramant straightened.
“One more thing,” Udyr said. She shifted a few documents idly pushing four copies to each of the heads. “The Sentinels.”
Morien, who’d been crotchety and fidgety for the past thirty minutes, groaned and slammed her claw on the table. “Again? Stormcatcher take them all, I thought we were done with those pretentious fucks. That business with the obelisk who turns into dirt — ”
“Sand,” Verbena interjected, shooting Morien a withering stare. “Sacrosanct shifts into sand.”
“Sand,” Verbena interjected, shooting Morien a withering stare. “Sacrosanct shifts into sand.”
“They can shift into shit for all I care — ”
Voltimand’s voice rang out, silencing them both: “Udyr. Continue.”
Udyr slid four copies across the table. Agramant inclined his head in thanks; he rarely spoke in meetings and most of the heads usually forgot he was there.
It was a case file. Not one of theirs, Agramant observed as he flipped it open.
“Where did you get this?” Voltimand asked. Her voice was light but there was an accusation in those words. “This is Sentinel material.”
Udyr shrugged, unfazed. “You have your spies, I have mine. Have you read it?”
Agramant turned his attention back to the file. Grinning grotesquely up at him was a guardian clad in tattered rags, a wicked-looking cleaver at her side. Young, Agramant decided, but judging by the bones she clad herself in, she knew how to use that weapon. Her teeth were unusual too: she had swapped a few with gaudy prosthetics. Gems, mismatched bone, precious metals. Her eyes were a red so bright they almost glowed.
She had a dagger sheathed at her side that looked familiar. Agramant squinted, connecting the dots. Efficient.
“Fuck,” Morien breathed. “Agramant, you’d love this girl — she doesn’t even waste her own teeth. How many of those do you think she’s made?”
He ignored that. His eyes skimmed over the next few sections. Last known location, favoured weapons, known magic, familial ties, casualties…
And stopped. Status: In Pursuit, written in a hasty hand. Instructions: Detain. Eliminate as last resort.
Udyr waited till they were all finished. Verbena was the first to speak, “What does this have to do with us?”
“Target?” Morien bared her teeth, her eyes alight with excitement. “I can set Hemera on her. Give me five days.”
Udyr said causally, “Not a target. A recruit.”
Verbena shot to his feet and gave an outraged shout at the same moment Voltimand said, “Absolutely not.”
In that same level voice, Udyr replied, “She’s a necromancer. She’ll be an asset.”
“I don’t doubt it,” Verbena growled, “but she hardly seems sane. The Sentinels only demand detention when the target has harmed one of theirs. We stay out of their business, they stay out of ours. This isn’t an ‘enemy of my enemy situation’.”
“I didn’t say it was. I’ll take it your vote is a no.”
“It is. And it’s hers too.” Verbena jerked his head at Voltimand, who shook her head gravely at Udyr.
Voltimand pushed the file back. “Verbena’s right. I can’t see her as one of our own.”
“Morien?”
The fathom had been unsually quiet during this exchange. She looked up now, her claw tracing patterns into the table, and asked, “Why her?”
Verbena swore aloud as Voltimand sighed defeatedly, reclining in her chair.
For the first time tonight, Udyr grinned. Agramant averted his eyes. That expression on Udyr’s face was as unnatural as rain falling upwards. She said, “Reports of strange and impossible quantities of magic appearing out of nowhere, groups of dragons gathering before it happens to siphon it up. Strange groups, too, affected in their own way by that magic. It doesn’t happen often — or at least we don’t hear about it often. Rumour has it that she — ” Udyr tapped the case file “ — comes from one of those clans.”
“What would you do with that information, hm? That strange magic? ” Verbena barked.
Udyr glanced at him coolly. “What would we do, you mean. The same as our predecessors: we assess and we decide. The Corps is sworn to face the unknown head-on; don’t tell me you’re afraid now.”
Morien lifted her chin and said, “Then I vote yes.”
“Good. Agramant?”
Agramant gave a start. His leg twinged in protest, and he had to force himself to relax, exhaling through his nose till the pain went away on its own. The group was silent now, everyone’s attention turned to him.
“Recruiting’s not my department,” he managed, trying to keep his voice as steady as he could.
“Still.” Udyr’s voice was quiet. Insistent. There was no weaseling his way out of this one.
“You can abstain,” Voltimand said reassuringly. “Besides, Udyr, we can’t interfere in Sentinel busine — ”
Morien snapped, “You just don’t want him to vote!”
“No, you insolent child, internal affairs has no sway over — ” That was Verbena, rising to his usual fury.
“Fuck you, old man!”
Agramant took a deep breath. He considered the file again as though it would yield further secrets upon a second round of scrutiny. Sure, she was young. Inexperienced in the ways of the world. Why Udyr wanted her to join the Realmwalkers Agramant could probably guess. Any way he looked at it, she’d probably bring trouble crashing down upon all their heads.
Sworn to face the unknown head-on.
Ah, hell. Why not? There was no guarantee they’d be able to snatch her out from under the Sentinels’ noses anyway.
“I vote yes.”

The Capital of the Day Court in Sol niger
My uncle has just posted this picture on the family chat. This is Gaeta, the city I was born in and where I basically spent the first 10 years of my life, seeing as I attended kindergarten and elementary school there (instead of in the city I still live in and where I later attended middle and high school) since my grandma lived near the school building.
There are many things to be said about Gaeta. For starters, its name comes from Cajeta or Caieta, a character from Virgil's Aeneid; I can actually cite the verses by memory: Tu quoque litoribus nostris, Aeneia nutrix, aeternam moriens famam, Caieta, dedisti. (By dying, you gave our shores, o Caieta, Aeneas's wet nurse, eternal fame.)
It was then mentioned in the Divine Comedy by Ulysses in Inferno, if I recall correctly, which also explains why this whole part of Southern Lazio is called Riviera di Ulisse.
It was famously the city Pious IX sequestered himself into when the Church State was threatened by the 1848 rebellion, and, soon after, became the last Borbone stronghold left standing that the advancing Savoia army needed to conquer to finally establish a united Italian state.
I've always loved the history and culture of this wonderful city, literally ever since the day I was born. (The hospital even has a breathtaking view of the sea, for Heaven's sake.)
And I mean, just look at it. Ain't she a beaut?
Tell me you don't picture Helion's palace stretching all the way along that promontory. I won't believe you.
So, yeah: from now on, the Capital of the Day Court, the City of Daylight, will be named Caieta.
(Or Cajeta, I still need to decide. What would you prefer? Should I do a poll?)

PLOT DROP #4 — 𝑻𝑰𝑴𝑬 𝑱𝑼𝑴𝑷
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, JAN 2
the snow glistening on the rooftops of wizarding britain isn’t the only thing setting a chill into the bones of wixkind this new year. in the early morning of january 2nd, more werewolf attacks suspected to be connected to the previous attacks and disappearances were reported. multiple wix are being treated at st mungos for injuries, but no names have been released at this time.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, JAN 27
the list of missing wix has risen dramatically in recent days, causing concern amongst all of wixkind. in response to the disappearances, the ministry has put forth a curfew, urging wix to stay indoors after 10pm. it’s said that there are murmurings amongst ministry officials that there is pressure from the public to choose a new minister as soon as possible, but the election has yet to be pushed up.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, FEB 19
BREAKING: there have been attacks on the children of the current minister candidates — cormac mclaggen, flora carrow, hestia carrow, morien gaunt, alister rosier, and pansy parkinson. all of the victims are in critical condition at st mungos, with no further updates.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, FEB 20
in the early hours of february 20 following the attacks on the minister candidates children, it has been reported that flora and hestia carrow, daughters of amycus carrow, have succumbed to their wounds and are officially reported dead. alister rosier, son of evan rosier, and cormac mclaggen, son of titus mclaggen, are still in critical condition. morien gaunt, daughter of thomas gaunt, and pansy parkinson, soon to be step-daughter of evan rosier, have reportedly been released from st mungos after being treated for multiple lesser injuries.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, FEB 25
following the tragic passing of his twin daughters, hestia and flora carrow, minister candidate amycus carrow has reported that he will be stepping down from the election. the ministry has also released a statement that the auror office has strengthened their task force to locate the parties behind these ongoing attacks.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, MAR 1
BREAKING: minister for magic candidate and frontrunner, titus mclaggen, was found dead this afternoon just outside of the ministry building in wizarding london. no suspects have been named at this time, and the ministry would not like to reveal any further details at this time.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, MAR 12
long-standing headmaster for aurelius institute for advanced magical learning, albus dumbledore, has been reported missing. he was last seen at aurelius institute on march 10th, and has not been seen or heard from since. if any wix has seen or heard from albus dumbledore, or has any information on his whereabouts, please notify representatives at the ministry immediately.
(what really happened: dumbledore has really been missing since before halloween, and the “dumbledore” that’s been serving as headmaster has actually been a mystery wix posing as the headmaster via polyjuice potion. the headmaster that set up last year’s controversial halloween scavenger hunt was actually the fake dumbledore, and said fake dumbledore has now left their post, and real dumbledore is still being held captive by unknown means.)
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, MAR 23
the body of the missing aurelius institute headmaster, albus dumbledore, was found early this morning and he is confirmed to be dead. the death of the great albus dumbledore being the latest in the long string of attacks and disappearances has many ministry officials pushing for the election to be held as soon as possible to bring about a new, stronger leadership administration.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, MAR 25
ministry candidate, evan rosier, has reportedly stepped down from his candidacy, citing full support for the upcoming administration of soon-to-be appointed minister thomas gaunt.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, MAR 26
minister gaunt has officially been appointed into his position, and has informed the daily prophet in an exclusive interview that his first order of business will be to locate the source of the recent attacks, with the help of the auror task force, which has been reformed to include aurors and ministry officials hand-picked by the minister himself. he re-iterates the importance of catching the culprits, and his consistent dedication to bringing them to justice, especially after the attacks on his own daughter, morien gaunt, and the many deaths that are reportedly connected to all of the attacks over recent months.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, APRIL 4
the ministry’s reinvented auror task force has reported that they have captured multiple suspects in relation to the recent werewolf attacks, and should soon be apprehending more suspects. most notable among the suspects are silas crump, julian norden, and callidora khan — all unregistered werewolves involved with what is assumed to be a rather large werewolf pack.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, APRIL 14
the ministry has continued to apprehend werewolves in relation to the attacks in recent months, most of which have been interrogated, tried, and sentenced to azkaban sentences for their crimes. our sources within the ministry have explained that the reasoning behind the werewolf uprisings was due to wixkind’s continuous discrimination and unfair treatment against werewolfkind.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, APRIL 25
BREAKING: minister gaunt has issued a statement formally launching a new task force within the being division of the ministry’s department for the regulation and control of magical creatures, stating that he would like to improve relations with werewolves to avoid any more potential uprisings in the future.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, MAY 30
in the newest of many changes under minister gaunt’s leadership — the minister, with the support of the werewolf task force within the ministry’s beings division, will be launching a new division within the department of magical law enforcement to support and protect wixkind and werewolfkind alike. minister gaunt has appointed the werewolf fenrir greyback as head of the new werewolf inclusive protection division (WIPD), whose goal is to support werewolves and allow werewolfkind the opportunity to help wixkind and offer their support, rather than casting them aside and criminalizing them.
EXERPT FROM THE DAILY PROPHET, JUNE 23
violent riots broke out at the ministry today, with a group of “protestors” invading the ministry’s atrium in opposition of the DMLE’s werewolf inclusive protection division, who they claim has been invading wizarding establishments, apprehending innocent wix for petty crimes or crimes they did not commit, amongst other outrageous allegations. the rebels were arrested and will be tried before the wizengamot for treason and discrimination.
— TDLR: tom gaunt (aka tom riddle, as he’s known in hp canon universe) manipulated his way into being the minister by recruiting an army of werewolf lackeys to commit an uprising, creating contention within the wizarding community and oust minister fudge from his position, getting rid of dumbledore, killing the other frontrunner (titus mclaggen) when he refused to step down from the race, and manipulating the other runners into stepping down from the race as well so he would inevitably be named minister. after gaining his minister position, he has begun to change the ministry swiftly, putting his own people into the task force looking into the attacks, and quickly finding the “culprits”, but it was all part of his scheme to make everyone believe he’s a strong leader and that he’s making positive change, when really he was the one who orchestrated the attacks all along. now, he’s slowly beginning to enact new laws and legislation that britain’s wix community at large aren’t comfortable with, including creating a new section of the ministry called the werewolf inclusive protection division (WIPD), which he claims is to protect werewolves and wix alike, but he’s really just employing werewolves in that division to create an official werewolf army to do his bidding. there is a couple of groups of rebels who believe that minister tom is ruining the wizarding world and want to overthrow him, but they are mostly separated into people who hate him because they hate werewolves and they deem him a werewolf lover, and people who actually believe he’s stripping away wix rights and aren’t against him because of prejudice against werewolves.

What have I been up to..?
Good question, uh. Working! On an original project/world/whatever! A story, that’s what I’m telling… well, multiple stories. There’s a few ‘main’ stories and I’m gonna go over the characters involved there!
welcome to the world of Anthos, this is only one of many posts (I hope)
First up: the adventurer’s guild gang!
Fern, Sora and Kyne are childhood friends who drifted apart, now brought together as a team of adventurers in the Adventurer’s Guild, going by Team Wander! Together, they explore the world, and try to solve the mystery of their parents’ disappearance, 11 years ago.
Fern Valerian is a cheerful and peppy fighter, who tackles most problems with brute force and a smile! Her weapon of choice is a hammer. Alongside adventuring, she has a love for fashion, food, and the occasional prank.
Sora Valerian is Fern’s twin brother, and the calmer of the two. Although he enjoys fighting, he sees fighting as a second option- at least, when dealing with people. He’s much more interested in the ‘exploring’ part of adventuring. He’s the crafty type- being skilled in woodcarving and sewing.
Kyne Mestri is the team’s voice of reason… most of the time anyway, the one mage on the team who utilizes a variety of combat magic. She’s primarily a researcher- previously handling her branch of the Guild’s records and histories. She always thinks ahead and has a plan. She enjoys reading, as well as various looking into mysteries. She also enjoys ghost stories… but that’s more of a secret.
Setting out from the town of Helivale, a cozy village nestled deep within a forest, a trio makes their way out into the world, with the goal to simply explore and experience things. Helivale is a unique town- aside from the three organic inhabitants, its citizens are all robots. This will be important.
Violet Historia (Full name and title being Lady Violet Florian Aeris Historia), is the last living member of the Historia family- the noble clan that founded Helivale and built the robots that inhabit it. Violet is a sheltered child- primarily by choice. She doesn’t interact with any of the robots, and only talks to Nikolas. Her friend and mentor/tutor.
Nikolas Morien is a skilled artificer who lives in Helivale by choice. The peace and quiet is perfect for research, and fixing up the robots makes for good practice. He’s the inquisitive type, and managed to meet Violet by accident. Befriending her and forming a bond with her. After some time of this, the robots of Helivale request Nikolas to take Violet away from the town. Nothing changes here- and a young lady such as herself deserves to see and experience the world. Nikolas agrees, and their journey begins.
Bell is Nikolas’s cat, and a troublemaker. She is very important.
Far away from the mainland, lies the island of Elpis. Home to the long-living and serene Lumerians, who’ve ruled over the island for ages, as well as various other humans. Ages ago, the peaceful life on the island was nearly destroyed by a war- one that still may have an affect on the island even today.
Eden is Elpis’s hero and crown heir, having sustained countless wounds fighting in the war ages ago, they were set into a stasis slumber to restore their strength, only awakening recently. Memories slightly scrambled and thrown into an unrecognizable world, they’re unsure of how to proceed.
Valeria is a priestess of the Light Gods, whose sanctuary was where Eden slept. Valeria was the one to discover them awake, and do her best to assist them. She wants to forge a friendship with them, despite everything.
Ahaha so uh. Yep. That’s them! The main characters (the ones that exist anyway)
there’s several other characters too! Team Wander’s rivals, various other characters met by several people, entire other LOCATIONS, I haven’t covered, adventurer’s guild members, and more! As well as various other bits of background lore- what little worldbuilding there is.
feel free to ask me anything about this, I will gladly answer!
if you read this far, thank you for reading! It means a lot.
#arti oc tag#anthos stuff#PLEASE ask me about this I will have so much fun answering#want to see other characters? I got u

FR Username/Numbers: shanncrafter #84422 on FR!
Basic Clan Lore: I’m planning for Tooth, fresh out of the Gaplands and starting to make a name for herself, to be targetted by The Sentinels of the Sun. They’re an organisation dedicated to hunting down malevolent spirits/dragons, and they tend to keep an eye on powerful individuals. They don’t know what her motivations are and until they do, they’ll see her as a threat.
Plans For Dragon: That’s where the Realmwalkers step in. Where the Sentinels work in the light, the Realmwalkers keep to the shadows. They’re larger and older than the Sentinels with the same goals; they may be much more disorganised but they’re willing to recruit those with useful talents.
Tooth will be a catalyst for the growing tension between its leaders (as well as between the two organisations). One of them, a young Fathom named Morien who leads the corp’s elite division, is at the centre of it all. Tooth, however, will be recruited by Udyr, who manages the unsavoury business of the Corps and whom Morien respects.
Tooth…will hate this. In the course of her relatively short life she has been many things: a daughter, fighter, a necromancer. The last thing she wants to become is a pawn, trapped in a series of events beyond her understanding.
She’s never been underestimated before. She’ll have to get used to the feeling before she can use it to her advantage.
Intended Payment: combination treasure and gem payment + some extra items!
Some other stuff below the cut!
Extra thing I wrote re: the discussion between the Corps' leaders on whether or not to recruit Tooth.
Here’s her outfit at the beginning, mostly inspired by the original! I’m thinking she has to find more of herself first before I make major changes to it. I’ll probably tweak a few things but this is it for now. The accent is Battlefield Spoils.
I was also reminded of that ‘Tho’ Nature, red in tooth and claw’ line from this poem.
Adding on to the trivia:
Her need for approval will result in her falling very quickly for certain lies. Udyr keeps her secrets but she’ll position herself as Tooth’s only hope. She’ll find a way to turn Tooth’s hunger to her advantage.
I really really love the teeth-as-daggers thing and I’m still thinking of a way to incorporate that!
I’m a little conflicted re: her charge. On one hand, I want it to be Morien just to make things messy for everyone. On the other, I want to leave it a little open. In my lore, since the Tidelord disappeared, the pull of a guardian’s Charge has gotten weaker with every new generation hatched.
There are necromancers in my lore but there’s also Camphor, a reanimated corpse shuffling around. Camphor would seek her assistance because he’s in bad shape. There are also some eldritch horrors I think Tooth would get along with (or at least try to kill. For fun. For fun!), one of whom being Innsmouth.
Two of the Realmwalker leaders will not like this at all: Verbena, in charge of general operations, and Voltimand, who oversees the mages and archivists. They’ll do anything short of sabotage/murder to see that Udyr doesn’t get what she wants.
Tooth will keep in contact with her family as much as possible. Though there is a risk of her mail being read...
Her signature is her name + a scribble of a tooth. If she's in a hurry it'll just be the scribble.
Good luck to everyone else applying! There are so many cool ideas :O
PIGLET APPLICATION #01 TOOTH THE RESSURECTIONIST.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:
These Piglets are for lore clans with a tumblr presence (sideblog, FR posting on mainblogs, etc you simply have to be a lore clan who engages with the community here on tumblr.)
Other players with their siblings (and myself with their parents) will be not only welcome to but encouraged to write interclan letters/in character messages to their siblings, and you'll have to be okay with everything that comes with that (On-Site DMs, the potential of a message going unanswered/etc) I would also appreciate if you ping me for the stuff you do with them because I want to see what they get up to <3
If you win one of the siblings, please refrain from applying for another, this is so everyone interested gets an opportunity and a fair shake at taking one of the girls home!
If you're the selected winner, the dragon is yours to do what you please with! (Regene, change species, rename, change gender identities/pronoun preferences, etc) I ask only that you have a lore/character reason for breed or name changes, as they'll be connected to a wider group of dragons that would need to know these things (What kind of dragon their sibling has become, What to call them in letters, etc) and if you can keep them a modern breed so they can keep their cleavers, well that'd just be nice for their old man Pig.
Please honor the basic lore of the dragon you win, you're welcome to rewrite/reinterpret the lore they arrive with, but please don't eliminate that history entirely, since they'll be interwoven with other clans/players!
[and a big thank you to Khadjin for reminding me I never mentioned this yet!] my lore deviates pretty substantially from site lore. however every aspect can be explained within the context of the site, please don't feel like you have to adopt my headcanons to participate in these!- my "Lesser Gods" are nothing more than magically afflicted/overcharged spirits or magically mutated dragons created in a reactor explosion somewhere in Lightning and some timeloop silliness, and the 'Gaps' are highly concentrated leylines caused by this incident. the eleven gods of sornieth remain the only true gods in my lore much like the site on the whole!- the Piglets and their parents simply lived under the affliction of spirits, cults, and mutated dragons and contextualized them as "Gods" the very same way we create urban myth/legends. While they would know of The Host and the Gaps because of the direct effect both have had on their parents, they are not required to have continued to believe in them as "Higher beings" and can have learned in their time away from their family that these things are likely, little more than the arcane gone haywire.
BLANK APPLICATION
Please copy/paste and fill this out in a Reblog here on tumblr or send it to me through my submit box here so I can keep track of things on a per-dragon basis for the course of the 48-hours each application will be active!
FR Username/Numbers: Basic Clan Lore: (just a general description of the lore/area of your clan you intend to place this hatchling in!) Plans For Dragon: (A little description of any of your ideas, headcanons, story beats, etc you're thinking of for the dragon you're applying for! This can be anything you've got in mind, scries, outfits, etc, feel free to go as big or as little as you want, I wanna see what's going on in your head!) Intended Payment: (These dragons will be PWYW, but I need everyone to acknowledge they're not free, so whatever you're planning on paying/trading for them, even if you change your mind when the time comes, stick something here.)
RINGLEADER'S HEADCANONS
These are just some smaller lore bits and pieces you're welcome to use or disregard for each child, things that I couldn't fit into the bios in a way that made sense. much like the example outfit photo up-top, this is for fun or stuff to help get ideas flowing, if you're stuck!
Tooth has horrible first-child syndrome despite being the third-born, she wants her parents' (and others, really) approval in any way she can get it, which has led to a deathly competitive streak- dangerous in a dragon closer to a horror slasher than anything else.
Tooth is the child with the most heavy proclivity toward plague's flesh and bone sensibilities, and while this is fitting for a necromancer, it makes her look odd when engaging with hobbies that aren't hunting, killing, or doing strange magic- she's mildly self conscious about this.
Her tendency to pull her own teeth to create resurrection daggers has led to her using her mouth as an odd accessory, adorned with teeth carved from precious stones, metals, and various other souvenirs she's chosen.
She's one of the few members of the Piglets who actually has an innate sense of magic, as her talent with resurrection does not require any outside intervention beyond a focus for her powers!
THIS APPLICATION IS OPEN FROM 3 PM DECEMBER 2ND, 2024, TO 3 PM DECEMBER 4TH, 2024. REBLOGS AFTER THIS TIME WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RUNNING.
Annnnd the auction pings for my tumblr lovelies!~:

The Courtship of Li Bai
Sitting in the top of a swaying oak
The golden moon is flirting with me
From behind a fan of clouds,
Hiding and revealing slivers of her face.
She's not fooling me;
She's always looking at me and through me,
Even when she’s gone away.
She is changeable, though;
Look how she plays with the tides,
Beckoning them closer, then casting them away again.
We are all of us rolling in her moods.
Tonight we have another drinking contest-
I know she will go down at last,
Leaving me holding this stony bit of mountain,
Letting me save face, and pretend I have snatched a victory.
But deep down be both know the truth;
Tomorrow I will be hollow as a broken cup,
Aching, stained, surly, stinking,
Clawing my way out of dew-cold weeds.
But she will rise up radiant,
Glowing as if nothing in the world has ever hurt her.
If only I knew her secret!
~Morien

Book Review: ‘Master of One’
Master of One by Jaida Jones, Danielle Bennett My rating: 2 of 5 stars A foul-mouthed and irritable boy, with little regard for self or others, stumbles into the magic-hewn machinations of courtly villains who themselves forsake the health of the people for the benefit of the crown. And along for the ride is an ever-widening cast of foolish optimists, awkward pedants, and wandering souls. MASTER OF ONE is not a compelling, driving epic, but it certainly puts in the effort and the word count so as to convince one otherwise. MASTER OF ONE is entertaining but suffers for itself. The multiple point-of-view narrative lacks balance. The story's scope, while workable, frays for lack of consistent, practiced plotting. And the ensemble cast of nearly a dozen characters stretches readers' care and interest untenably thin. One might indeed be wholly invested in a boy named Rags who finds himself under the heel of a bitter sorcerer and thus tagged to do the bidding of a corrupt court. But Rags is a grudgingly compliant character; his dynamics/interactions with others are so heavily transparent as to render their resolution cringe-worthy, and by the time readers grow accustomed to his strengths, his weaknesses, and his goals, the point of view shifts elsewhere. To begin, the book's premise is clever. The dark hand of the court of Queen Catriona Ever-Bright aims to acquire mystical power and weaponry that would transition her multi-century reign into an eternal one. Or something like that. It's not entirely clear. One of the novel's plot holes regards the absent motivation of its arch-antagonist (i.e., power for its own sake isn't a character motive, it's a crude, childish indulgence). Regardless, Rags is prodded into service by a rather nasty sorcerer, the so-named Morien the Last, and soon learns his tendency to avoid becoming a disposable thief could ensure he sees this awkward power struggle through to the end. How awkward? Rags sees to the resurrection of a fae prince from 700 years of slumber, the sourcing and discovery of magical steampunk creatures of unimaginable strength, and the unifying of said fae prince and magical creatures with their human handlers. That's a lot for a street rat. Essentially, Rags is instructed to purloin a new weapon for the crown. Alas, he locates multiple weapons, of a kind, but decides it's better to leave said fantastical weapons to their masters than to hand them over to the dirty desires of the queen. MASTER OF ONE is not particularly exciting for nearly 200 pages. The first one-third of the book concerns a sometimes-fun-but-often-predictable jaunt through ancient ruins and the subsequent meandering toward a narrative inflection point. Rags is the only point-of-view character for the first 100 pages, after which, the story shifts, or rather, attempts to shift, such that Rags's efforts serve as a fulcrum over which other characters might pivot their individual needs or troubles. Not problematic as a manner of function, but in time, problematic in design. The reader spends so much time attending to the irascible thief, that as soon as one emerges into the points of view of other characters, the trajectory of the novel is exposed to be circular, wearisome, and puffed-up with motivation for motivation's sake. The book's clever premise promptly gives way to tedious adventuring. The second half of the novel is far more intriguing than the first half. The reason as to why may or may not be multifaceted: such as an initial overemphasis on a limited array of character relationships (rendering them fatally transparent and interminably uncomfortable) or the novel's visibly distressed plotting (there's a lot running around in this book, through forests, through tunnels, through hallways, through sewers, through caves, through alleyways). Or it could be something far simpler, such as how the novel was drafted by more than one person. The disconcertingly creepy author(s) photo aside, MASTER OF ONE wields it's third-person-limited perspective with modest adeptness. A difficult effort to maintain, one imagines, while articulating the idiosyncrasies of more than a dozen characters, most of whom communicate telepathically. The novel's heavy-handed interest in Rags, over other characters, becomes an in-kind burden when other characters demonstrate they are far more emotionally intuitive and ready for the challenge of the story than the central protagonist himself. Prince Somhairle Ever-Bright, a physically disabled and a disgraced royal, is a naturally curious man with a poet's heart who uses his introspection to contextualize his purpose (as opposed to Rags, who privileges deniability and a suicidal manner of arrogance). Inis Fraoch Ever-Loyal, an exiled heir to a family of traitors, holds her quest for vengeance so close to her heart that everything she touches threatens to go up in flames; the woman's ferocity is absolutely brilliant. When these two characters are matched with fantastical animal creatures, familiars, their identities further crystalize and their personal ambitions pull readers in. Rags, on the other hand, exhibits little maturity; he rambles aimlessly about his attraction to another character and lingers on the shame he feels at having lost a childhood friend several years prior to the book's events. Perhaps these other characters would have buoyed the narrative more substantially if the shifting points of view didn't presuppose the weight of their purpose, but considering one might argue this for multiple characters, the observation is mere conjecture. Examples abound. After all, the fae prince character, Talon, is just plain annoying, while Morien, the sorcerer, is genuinely intriguing, but is also quickly written out of the story's foreground. Talon speaks little and emotes less. And yet, despite the character's role as the highest ranking remnant of a dead culture, adept readers will notice his role is dangerously slim to being reduced to that of a prop: helpful when necessary, irrelevant when not. Elsewhere, the dark-hearted sorcerer doing the bidding of the queen is an engaging and entertaining character, until, sadly, he's written deep into the background and holed into the role of a boogeyman: dangerous, but only if one remembers to be afraid of him. Later, when Morien is officially regarded as the baddest guy around, readers have neither seen nor heard from the man in ages. Altogether, the ensemble cast, the constant running around, and the antagonists absent a suitable motivation beget a plot hole or two. Interestingly, the problem with the novel's plot holes don't concern their prevalence, but their type. The tidiest of these, for example, occur early in the novel, when readers frequently encounter information the narrator claims was supplied beforehand, and yet a closer reading of the text clearly proves otherwise. When Morien the Last places a shard of mystical glass into Rags's heart, the boy is doomed to the man's control. Rags understands he serves at the man's will, but the narrator rationalizes, inexplicably, "Morien, true to his word, didn't give him any dreams" (p. 29). Never in the story does Morien declare his capacity to give, take away, or spy on the boy's dreams. Later, when Rags frees a sleeping fae prince from a glass coffin, he observes "the thing that rolled free from the coffin" (p. 77), thinking the glimmering object to be a precious gemstone of some kind. This "thing" becomes a significant facet of the story moving forward; except, the story never mentions the lump of silver ore, in the coffin or anywhere, until Rags conveniently lurches toward it to snatch it up and pocket the artifact. These types of plot holes, inventions untethered to the reality of the story, in which readers are made to believe they have always known of something in spite of never having truly encountered it, are but flights of imaginative authorship. MASTER OF ONE doesn't have a payoff. That is to say, discounting the sticky and obvious contrivances that were most obvious from the novel's outset, the book doesn't lend readers the undeniable courage to believe these characters' journeys will be entirely worth it. Inis seeks her vengeance, yes. Einan Remington, a squirrely young woman in love with theater, seeks friendship, true. Rags, the main character, routinely falters into usefulness, yes. But beyond these perfunctory stamps of attitude that tint the title's emotional shade in one direction or another, by degrees, MASTER OF ONE throws a bunch of strangers together to solve a problem none of them are truly responsible for. Indeed, the queen still hunts for her mystical-weapon-thing. Only now, she must rely on someone else to get it for her.

yess okay so the food setup is basically standard for the royal navy in this period; they have livestock on board (pigs, cattle and poultry mostly) though obvs on long voyages those can run out. the bulk of the rest of the food supplies are stored in casks in the hold. the average sailor ate on a regular schedule (salt pork and dried peas on thursday and sunday for example) rotating salt pork, peas, salt beef, cheese, oatmeal, and salt beef. all accompanied by ships biscuit of course, which was basically just a super hard flour and water mixture baked for a long time, which lasted basically forever though it did tend to get weevils after a while. these had to be soaked or held in the mouth to soften if you didnt want to lose teeth lol.
this was managed by the victualing board, but the captain would take on a lot of other fresh meat and produce in port as well. arthur (see, this post is still about medieval literature) is very serious about food and therefore especially generous with the supplies provided to supplement the diets of crew. what is brought aboard depends on the port and what is available in that region and season. and obviously there is also grog, which is high proof rum diluted with water with some fruit juice (lemon usually) added to prevent scurvy. this juice would lose its antiscorbutic properties over time however so watch out! technically the official ration was of beer, and for the first few weeks at sea beer it was, but after that it didnt store well so grog was more usual.
the officers were entitled to a share of the ships rations but they heavily supplemented with their private stores. midshipmen, wardroom officers and the captain all had access to pantry space which they would, money allowing, cram with the finer things like fancy alcohol, tea, coffee, pickled fruits and vegetables, jams, sausages, hard cheese, as well as fresh things that they would use up in the first few weeks. arthur enjoys throwing lavish dinners and his private stores are prodigious. gawains private store is a lot of fine wines and fruit preserves, as well as a more standard store of nicer goods he shares w his brothers and cousin. he would share with lancelot but lancelot prefers eating the plain rations.
morien provides most of the private stores to the midshipmans berth, as he's wealthy and used to fine things, and includes a selection of spices and preserved foods from back home. percival and galahad brought no private stores, mordred mooches off his brothers, and brunor mooches off mordred.

2024 - a retrospective
(I am writing this in my bed instead of partying because I am not feeling so good again, and because this is honestly the place I feel most at ease to end and start the new year)
2024 was... let's say a bit better than 2023, for me, but in general pretty tiring. With constant small health problems and some issues with writing, I have not been as productive as I'd hoped. However, in my personal life some things have changed for the better (I have changed my university course, and it has helped in diminishing my constant anxiety), and I have made small but constant work on TKH.
On the topic of my IFs.
While 2024 hasn't seen any new content for The King's Hound, there has been a rewrite which was very needed for lore reasons, and which I am happy about. I have also polished the UI, and have commissioned official art for Morien. While there hasn't been an update yet, though, the work is done and you can expect it very soon.
I have also rebounded Golden Ashes (previously: From The Ashes We Rise), my regency era dragon shifter IF, with a rewrite happening behind the scenes and a new look for the blog (the demo right now remains privated).
2024 has been a year of changes. For me and for my IFs
But this is only the beginning. For 2025, I have projects. I want to release the content I have for TKH, the updated version of GA, and I want to commission more art for TKH. I also, and on this I am like 80% sure, am strongly considered making Arthur gender selectable. Details will be revealed later if/when I decide on it, but that might be another change coming.
I might be repetitive, but the community around my projects has been... unexpected, and warm, and absolutely vital for me, the last few years. I was, still am, a very anxious person that cycles through depression and while it is now a bit better, I still consider this a safe place where i can fall back on every time I need it. It's all thanks to you.
Thank you, I hope the next year will bring you peace, and wealth, and happiness.

Nisus and Euryalus (Aeneid 9.422-445)
'Now you will pay for both their deaths with your warm blood',
Volcens yelled. As he spoke, he drew his sword
and charged at Euryalus. Truly terrified, frantic,
Nisus cried out, unable to hide himself in the shadows
any longer, unable to endure such anguish:
.
'It was me! Me! I did it, here I am! Attack me,
Rutulians! The crime is all mine, he wouldn't have dared
or even have been able to do it - the
heaven and stars are my witness, they know
the truth - his greatest crime was loving
his friend too much - '
.
He spoke, but the sword pierced through Euryalus' ribs, thrust
with force, fracturing his white chest.
He rolled in death. Gore
gushed over his beautiful limbs, and his swooning neck
collapsed onto his shoulder
just as a scarlet flower, cut by the plough,
withers as it dies, or as poppies with weary necks
sag their heads when they're weighed down by heavy rain.
.
But Nisus charged into the thick of it, seeking
only Volcens in the crowd - his mind was fixed
on Volcens. The enemy, packing in close,
spurred Nisus back on this side and that.
And yet still he pressed on, he whirled
his gleaming sword, until finally
he sunk his weapon into the mouth
of Volcens as he stood, screaming, before him,
and as Nisus died he stole his enemy's soul.
Then, fatally wounded, he threw himself on his lifeless lover
and there at last he rest in peaceful death.
***
'tu tamen interea calido mihi sanguine poenas persolves amborum' inquit; simul ense recluso ibat in Euryalum. tum vero exterritus, amens, conclamat Nisus nec se celare tenebris amplius aut tantum potuit perferre dolorem: 'me, me, adsum qui feci, in me convertite ferrum, o Rutuli! mea fraus omnis, nihil iste nec ausus nec potuit; caelum hoc et conscia sidera testor; tantum infelicem nimium dilexit amicum.' talia dicta dabat, sed viribus ensis adactus transadigit costas et candida pectora rumpit. volvitur Euryalus leto, pulchrosque per artus it cruor inque umeros cervix conlapsa recumbit: purpureus veluti cum flos succisus aratro languescit moriens, lassove papavera collo demisere caput pluvia cum forte gravantur. at Nisus ruit in medios solumque per omnis Volcentem petit, in solo Volcente moratur. quem circum glomerati hostes hinc comminus atque hinc proturbant. instat non setius ac rotat ensem fulmineum, donec Rutuli clamantis in ore condidit adverso et moriens animam abstulit hosti. tum super exanimum sese proiecit amicum confossus, placidaque ibi demum morte quievit.
