it takes two.
spencer deals with a lot on the field, but nothing can prepare him for when he’s stuck inside a locker with you.
pairing :: spencer x fem bau!reader
warnings :: 18+ due to sexual themes but no smut, slight claustrophobia triggers
word count :: 2.2k
author’s note :: inspired by a scene from s9e23, i'm imagining spencer in a fitted collared shirt and tie, reader wears a skirt
accompanying song :: stuck between by dutch criminal record
“nothing’s showing up on vicap. i’ve cross-checked records against everything you’ve mentioned, sir, but there’s literally nothing. zilch,” you hear garcia let out an exasperated groan as she ferociously taps at her keyboard.
you watch as hotch kneads the skin between his brows with growing impatience while morgan starts to pace around the room. you’re not doing any better yourself, your stressed-out fingers threatening to tug at the strands of hair neatly holding your ponytail together.
it’s too frustrating. the leads are clearly there, but your team is lacking the final puzzle piece to complete the profile, to confirm that it’s someone in the department that’s deliberately injecting themselves into the investigation.
“your answer is probably written down on paper. ugh, i hate when bad guys try to act all smart,” garcia fumes, and sulks as she gives an apologetic wave from her side of the screen. hotch nods, relays a thank you, and cuts the call before rounding the whole team together.
“think about it, those two are the perfect scapegoats. all of these agents have everything to lose, so why not just blame them? they’ve been in and out of cells already, and it makes perfect sense to craft a narrative that’ll point fingers at them,” morgan starts, making small gestures as he speaks with his signature cadence, topped with a honeyed rasp.
“and they’ve got all the authority to influence the public’s opinion,” jj nods in agreement.
“we need to try to get those two to talk again, but we also have to take extra precautions. jj and prentiss, go interview them one more time to see if they’ll spill any names. morgan, i need you to work with garcia to look for other possible leads. reid and l/n, go to the records room to review the files of the agents working with us. dave and i will try to hold down the fort,” hotch instructs, nodding at each of you as he rolls out the orders.
“and try not to draw suspicion. if all else fails, say that you need to run to the bathroom,” rossi adds with a wink. it always amazes you how calm the italian agent is during such high-pressure situations, a trait you’ve grown to immensely appreciate.
“shall we?” you say as you nudge spencer, and he hums back in response. you bid a wish of good luck to emily and jj and traverse the hallway to the records room with the doctor, your heels clacking beside the cushioned steps of his slightly worn converses.
after looking left and right to make sure no one’s around, spencer opens the door. you silence the sounds of your heels as you follow inside, and let the bolt of the lock plunge into the frame by slowly closing the door.
“alright, you take the left, i’ll take the right,” you whisper, and spencer gives you a thumbs up.
the two of you work silently and as fast as possible, sifting through the piles of records that lie on the tables and beside the cabinets. you feel your heart jump into a cartwheel every time a sheet of paper slips out of the manila folders, the sounds of rustling and creasing setting you on edge.
“i found mcgregor and drew, but i don’t think it’s either of them,” spencer declares with a voice that isn’t supposed to sound loud at all, but it feels hundreds of decibels higher than the bare whisper you spoke with earlier.
“okay, i found weaver and lee, but they don’t fit the profile either. let’s continue looking for the other two,” you call back.
spencer walks over to you and kneels beside your left to help you with your search. once you spread the folders on the floor, you spot one of the two remaining files, and spencer soon finds the other. you’re about to turn through the sheets in the folder when the doorknob starts to shake, startling the both of you.
“shit. spence,” you blurt as spencer takes his file in one hand and grabs yours with the other, and shoves them into an open drawer. after he slides the compartment back with his careful and nimble fingers, you grab his arm and squeeze into a spare locker. you barely manage to seal the opening shut in time.
you could say that it was quick thinking that saved your and spencer’s cover, since the door jiggles and thrusts open a mere second later.
you never would’ve imagined that the day would come when you would draw air directly from spencer’s breaths, let alone enclose yourself in the same room as him.
and yet here you are, perched on top of spencer’s knee, the scratchy fabric of his trousers resting under the hollow space of your pencil skirt and between your legs. his other leg presses against your side of the wall with an uncomfortable bend, while his chin sits an atom’s width from your forehead.
it’s a nonnegotiable consequence that comes with his tall figure, the way his clothed knee has to rub against your inner thighs under the draped fabric.
one of your hands lies awkwardly on his chest while the other is on his thigh, right above the knee that’s using you for leverage. your attention immediately shifts to your left when you see the rays of the intruder’s flashlight scope through the room.
you stop mid-exhale when the light pours through the gaps of the locker, casting shadows on spencer’s face and your body. he looks stressed, anxiously wetting his lips with closed eyes, face turned away from you.
and he looks overwhelmed. rapid bursts of inhales and exhales fire from his body, likely due to the collar of his shirt being bound tightly around his neck with the tie. with shaking fingers, you slowly reach for his tie, waiting for approval to loosen it.
you feel his forehead bury into the cave of your shoulder, and he whispers his desperate ask into your ear: “please.”
despite the lack of light around you, you’re able to locate the small end of his satin tie, and you tug lightly. the knot unfurls as you pull, and spencer lets out a small sigh of relief before breathing a low thank you in your ear.
as this happens, you hear the intruder surf through the piles of papers, unlocking drawers and lifting boxes left and right. hurry, hurry, hurry, you pray desperately in your head. beads of sweat start to form at your temple and threaten to fall down to your exposed neck, which happens to be situated directly in spencer’s line of sight.
“come on,” you hear the guest in the room complain, angrily flipping through papers and slamming the cabinets. you think it’s finally time for him to leave when you hear the high-pitched ring of his phone.
but your eyes widen when instead of heading to the door, he makes strides towards the locker right across from yours, and leans his back against it before holding the phone up to his ear. holy shit.
“jensen speaking,” he says with a gruff voice, and plays with the button of his flashlight so it turns on and off spontaneously. as the light flickers, it dimly shines the space inside your locker.
spencer turns his head to meet your eyes, a panicked expression covering his face. you’re about to mouth a small sorry for the helpless situation you’ve dragged him into, but just as you’re about to do so, spencer’s trousers slide against your legs, creating friction so unbearable that you let out a squeak.
you freeze, looking up to see spencer’s eyes flash warningly. he instantly clasps your mouth with his hands to cover any further sound from escaping your lips, but with no form of support to maintain his position, he starts to slip, and his shirt lightly skids against the locker’s slippery walls. this is somehow even worse for you, because spencer’s knee starts to dig further up your legs and into your cotton underwear, forcing you to squeeze your eyes shut.
luckily for the both of you, jensen seems to be distracted by whatever words are being spewed from the other end of his phone call to pay any mind to your suppressed yelps.
“i think their agents might be on to us,” he scowls, and you watch from the corner of your eye as he tosses the last of his files into a box and opens the adjacent locker to ram it inside.
“yeah, i’ll try to stall them for as long as i can. they don’t know what they’re getting themselves into.”
jensen curses and promptly ends the call, returning his phone into the pocket of his shirt. he finally walks to the door, sighing as he twists the knob and steps out. the two of you lie in wait for an additional three minutes before trying anything.
“i think we’re good,” spencer huffs, finally opening the locker door with a thud as the sounds of steel clashing against steel echo throughout the air.
“yeah,” you nod, taking a breath to collect yourself as you step out. you watch as spencer runs a hand through his hair and moves his fingers down to adjust his tie.
he returns the stare, his adam’s apple bobbing when he eyes your wrinkled shirt and scrunched up pencil skirt – which looks more like a mini-skirt with how it sits right below your hips.
“i um, i need some air. how about you?” spencer asks at last, clearing his throat. you bite your lip when he starts to brush the dust off his thighs and knees, the moments of earlier flooding into the back of your mind like the warmth pooling between your thighs.
“yeah, i could use some fresh air too,” you respond breathily, averting your eyes and focusing instead on smoothing out your shirt and retying your loosened ponytail. when you’re done, you turn around and stagger to the door, not looking twice to see if spencer’s following you. an intense flush spreads across your cheeks, and your only viable path of escape is to the bathroom.
“you, um, missed a spot,” you hear from behind, and you follow spencer’s gaze to see that he’s referring to the back of your skirt.
“oh,” you say as embarrassment swamps you, and you hurriedly pat at the fabric. “does that look better?”
“it’s still folded there. if you want, i can- may i?”
the question tumbles from his pretty lips and messes with your head. his hand hovers right around your waist, the same way yours lingered on his tie as you waited for his consent. and his softening eyes. his slightly smoldering gaze looks so innocent and alluring at the same time, your heart starts to feel heavy with the weight of desire.
note to self: never wear a pencil skirt again.
“please,” you utter like a silent prayer, and mentally prepare yourself to endure the test of his fingers against your skin.
as soon as he receives your word, his hand lightly brushes against your thigh and trails down your skin. he takes the hem of your skirt and pulls down, giving several tugs before releasing the stretched garment.
he clears his throat when you don’t move even after he’s retracted his hand.
“all good now.”
spencer’s words drown out your thoughts and snap you back to reality. he’s already standing by the door, holding it open for you with a patient smile.
“thanks,” you say as you walk out and rub your hands together, nervous for what you’re about to say next. “spencer, um, i’m so sorry about that whole ordeal, it was really unprofessional of me to drag you in there, i wasn’t thinking when i-”
“you did the right thing,” spencer interrupts your ramble with the shake of his head, and his flawless smile pulls at your heartstrings.
“i would’ve pushed you in there if you hadn't. that door’s the only way in and out if you don’t count the windows,” he continues, slipping his hands into his pockets as he walks you to the elevator.
“oh,” you shyly murmur back, your cheeks flushing with a shade of bright pink as his words pour over you like warm water. he would’ve pushed you in there if you hadn’t?
“yeah, but how about we try a bigger locker next time?” spencer almost reads your mind as he half-mindedly jokes, causing you to drop your jaw in shock. he doesn’t acknowledge your reaction, however, because he starts to dial rossi’s number on his cell.
“by the way, the uh, new look suits you. the grey skirt and all,” spencer says with a lopsided smile before he raises a hand to excuse himself and call rossi. you’re saved the embarrassment of responding when rossi accepts the call, but your palms are already profusely sweating at his compliment.
note to self: maybe wear the pencil skirt again.

Since its the January transfer window, i'll be talking about players that i would love to see at Arsenal!
Obviously, with the registered players being at the max, it's not realistic for new signings to come in this window. So these are players that i think will massively improve our squad in the summer especially if we do want to make it far in the uwcl and win the wsl!
Also, i would like to make another post about players that i will not be opposed to leaving in the summer to get better players in 🤔 but idt yall are ready for that conversation yet
1) Maëlle Lakrar
Amazing young defender, very attacking minded, fits in the playstyle of how jonas wants our defenders to be
Hard worker, loves to get interceptions in, 1v1 duels to win the ball back (i love defenders like this)
Tactically intelligent, able to get into good positions to intercept players and loves to progress the ball forward to quickly transition into attack
At 170cm, she handles aerial duels well and can be used as a threat in set pieces
Quite pacey and can handle speedy forwards when in transition
A lot of big clubs have already started enquiring about her as her contract ends in 2024, would be a shame if Arsenal lose her to a big rival.
2) Sakina Karchaoui
One of the best left-footed fullbacks in the world right now, very attacking minded defender, which again is how jonas loves our defenders to be
Only 160cm but what she lacks in height, she makes up for in work ethic, loves to be higher up the pitch to get involved in attacks but tracks back well to defend when caught in transition
Loves to get interceptions in, 1v1 duels to win the ball back, often both having a high rate of success
Same as Maëlle, her contract ends in 2024 and the opportunity to get a worldclass fullback on a free should not be missed. She will be a massive upgrade on Arsenal's left-back position.
3) Chiamaka Nnadozie
Goalkeepers are a harder one to judge because you cannot rely on stats, so this analysis is based on eye tests
At 23 years old, one of the best young goalkeepers in the world right now
180cm, an excellent height for a gk
Had an amazing WWC23 run as a starter for Nigeria
Currently, also having an amazing uwcl run with Paris FC
Very impressive aerial abilities for a young keeper (imo can be considered worldclass)
Great outside the box, able to play out from the back effectively
Although at times her decision making can be better, but with the right coaching, she's on her way to be a worldclass gk
Amazing gk for both Paric FC and Nigeria at only 23 years old, why not snatch her up? (if you can't beat her, buy her)
4) Angel Mukasa
21 years old, still needs more experience but at her age, shes phenomenal
No data on her height but from eye tests, probably around 170-180cm
Excellent shot-stopping
Great positioning, never caught out of focus
Her distribution is a stand out trait, amazing at her age
Great composure, doesn't make rash decisions in stress
In the uwcl against barca femení, if it weren't for her, FC Rosengård would've conceded more than 7 goals, she was phenomenal in that game
Not my choice for a starting keeper but would be an excellent 2nd keeper until she gains enough experience to be 1st choice
5) Kerolin Nicoli
NWSL MVP 2023, NWSL Best XI First Team 2023, Runner up for NWSL Golden Boot 2023 (what more can i say 🤷🏽♀️ she's a baller)
Lethal in the attacking third, loves 1v1 duels, excellent dribbling
Unselfish player, will pass to a teammate if needed but also loves taking shots at goal too
Right-footed player but is excellent at the left
Versatile player, can play on the left and right (as a winger or midfielder), up top but also as a CM
Not much else to say except that she will be lethal in Arsenal's left hand side. Just imagine Karchaoui, McCabe and Kerolin on our left 😮💨
Other players that i will love at Arsenal but too unrealistic:
Naomi Girma
Merle Frohms
Misa Rodriguez
Stina Johannes
Antônia Silva
Jule Brand
Morgan Weaver
Ary Borges
Anyways, if you've actually read the whole thing, thanks! I'm quite disappointed with the lack of movements in this window so i've decided to write it here.
Do you agree with this list? Any other players that you will like to see at Arsenal as well? Lemme know i would love to here you thoughts! (pls refrain from hateful words, if you don't like this list at all. criticism is fine but keep it civil)

So me and my husband were sitting down kinda playing casting director, and here's what we've done up with for characters. I'm gonna keep it a buck, I'm aging up cause IMDB is lacking in 11 year olds.
Gregor Campbell
Noah Jupe/Lonnie Chavis
Noah Jupe: a young actor known for his roles in "A Quiet Place" and "Honey Boy."
Lonnie Chavis:Known for his role as young Randall Pearson on "This Is Us."
Luxa
Storm Ried/McKenna Grace
Storm Ried: A Wrinkle in Time" and "Euphoria
McKenna Grace: Ghost Busters Afterlife
Boots Campbell
Thea Eddie/Mykal-Michelle Harris
(honestly not a lot on both of them Thea did a few tv shows, I'm leaning Mykal)
RipRed (v.a work)
Steven Blum/Benedict Cumberbatch.
Steve Blum: Wolverine, Tank Dempsey, Spike (Cowboy Bebop)
Benedict Cumberbatch: Doctor Strange.
If all else fails, just GIVE IT TO MATT MERCER.
Solovet
Sigourney Weaver/Tilda Swinton/Jessica Langue
Sigourney: Alien-Ripley
Tilda:Dr Strange-Ancient One
Jessica:American Horror Story- multi.
Not gonna lie my actual Headcanon is Judy Dench. Cause she just oozes Solovetness. But after Artemis Fowl I understand if she never wants to star in a YA book adaptation again.
Vikus
Ok, This one was hard for me because I genuinely will not budge on who I want for this. And it's such a crazy casting but because his performance was so amazing in this film. I'm just gonna Executive decision this one. You want somebody who despite the man putting you through literal hell every time you see him. You still can't help but like the man. He's still just a sweet and gentle soul. Paul's reading of him makes his voice sound deep. But meh.
Dustin Hoffman.
Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.
I genuinely cannot think of anyone else who would nail it. Vikus optimistic fanatical charisma would be encapsulating on screen. His performance as Mr.Magorium was heartbreaking. And I imagine his contrast with Solovet, be it any of the three women above. Would be palpable. That back and forth about Gregor needing to learn to use a sword, him being happy about not taking it. idk I just really REALLY love Vikus. But for the meme
Morgan Freeman As Vitruvius
Literally everyone is still a human but Vikus is a lego man. (Nate had me dying with this joke.) Just the blocky Lego animation as he climbs on top of a expensive looking bat 😂
Mareth
Chris Hensworth.
Paul's (Audiobook Reader) reading of Mareth just gives me like Thor Vibes. Also I can't think of anything but him running laps with Gregor keeping up with him. Also Im just thinking of the Mareth Fan cam edits. More specially the moment he knocks Howard out.
Grace Campbell
Tracy Ellis Ross/Nikka King/Kerry Washington
Tracy Ellis Ross: Blackish
Nikka King: Euphoria
Kerry Washington: Scandal
"But how black mom, white passing child?"
Eve gene baby, it's a thing that happens.
(I'll be reblogging as we find more actors to cast other characters)
So what do people actually think the background characters in the Underland chronicles look like
Just wondering. From all the (amazing) Fan art I have seen of Gregor , Lizzie, and Boots the fandom seems to have a pretty cohesive Idea on what they look like. Luxa also seems to have a pretty standard image in the fandom (Though wasn't she on the cover of the first design of MOS) with the only differentiation being how far along she is in puberty. Reminder if she was in the overland she would be in the sixth grade.
Other characters though Like really what do people think they look like. In my head Mrs. Cormaci is a plump/rounder women and I thought for years I had read that in the books until I saw fanart of her being drawn as more slim. Then I reread part of TPOB and was like Oh it never says what shape she is, I guess I just thought she was bigger because she is always cooking so much rich sounding food for charities. Then I remember seeing some one post once that what if she was Hazard's maternal grandmother. His maternal grandparents live in NYC, and Mrs.Cormaci is mentioned to have had a daughter.
Well that is bitter sweet because on one had that means that Mrs. Cormaci's daughter has been missing for years and in fact died without her mother ever knowing what happened to her (she also would not have known when her father died). Gotta then wonder if Mrs.Cormaci giving Lizzie her daughters old cloths is more than just her trying to help the Campbells while also declutter her house. But that also means Hazard has at least one Grandma who is really grand, if this relation was ever realized then maybe Hazard could come up to the overland for visits and stay with Mrs. Cormaci. Also she would probably have pictures of her daughter that she could show Hazard so he could remember what his mom looked like. Anyway I really liked this theory and wanted it to be cannon, but then i realized that since Hazard's overland features are his black hair and green eyes his overland relations probably have them to, and was like oh wow I never pictured Mrs.Cormaci having green eyes.
Another character I think about is Vikus. In my head the males in the underland Henry, Mareth, York all have short close cropped hair because they fight so much. Or in Howard's a short stack of wavy/curly locks cut just short enough to stay out of his eyes when wet. I do love the fan art I have seen of Henry with long hair though. But When It comes to Vikus , I guess since he seeks peace and is better relations, I usually imagine him with long grey hair and a long beard. to me he winds up looking kinda like men in biblical stories. Solovet however is muscled with a near shaved head. She is on the small side and slouches a bit when trying to appear as a gracious hostess and that plus her wrinkles make her seem non dangerous. When she is in planing/battle mode though she stands perfectly straight and those seemingly kindly wrinkles disappear, and she just looks completely terrifying.
Dulcet and Nerissa are other cases. Dulcet is described as being shy and very pretty. But as someone who works in childcare I can say with certainty that her hair is most likely a mess, her simple cloths likely have stains and crayon markings all over them. This girl is a beautiful mess. Then we have Neressa whom everyone knows is a mess. Since she is constantly described as wide eyed, tired, frail, to thin, and wearing her long hair a loose pony tail. But I don't often see it acknowledged that she canonically wears multiple layers of cloths at once or that her cloths never match.
I said most of the men in the underland would have short hair, could Hamnet have grown his hair out longer in the jungle, to try and make himself look different from how he did as a solider. Likewise I also imagine his lizard skin cloths being frayed and raggedy at the edges, much different from whatever military uniforms regalians wear. Anything to help hims see something different when he looks into the water. Can we talk about how when Gregor first meets Howard he describes him as tall and really strong, Then during his time with the plague Howard looses like 20 pounds and has scars wear ever he had bumps. Howard likely could not even fit into his old cloths after getting better.
What do Gregor's parents look like. We know they are both thin and tired. His dad's hair has gone completely white. Grace's cannot be to far behind with how hard she works and being in a state of constant worry for her family. Do fans still Agree with the theory that Grace is white and the Dad is black?
Also one more thing. Why does everyone think any of the underlanders that haven't completely greyed over have silver-blond hair. Like I know Luxa has that shade. Luxa would also probably be blonde if she has been born i t he overland. But it only specified that a silver tint was part of what distinguished the underlanders. Personally I always thought they could have any hair color (examples I imagine Howard being brunette and Mareth having black hair) but that it would always be paler than an overland counter part.
Like I know and respect that the characters descriptions are vague on purpose, and that the fun is that we can imagine them looking in so many different ways. But like really how do people imagine their favorites look. What little we get implies that the characters do not fall into the young adult novels trope of making them all look super hot. They are scared, beat up, anxious, and some are wearing cloths that do not fit them, some are missing body parts. To me that makes them infinetly more fun to imagine than most YA novel characters
So seriously if you have any strong clear/headcannons as to what you think certain human characters look like, please share them int he comments.

warnings: Near death
words: 1666
(Y/N) POV
“Did you ever think that we would actually get a place together?”
I smiled at Morgan. It had been just over a year since the two of us officially met each other off of the field. So much so that our little meetups at each other’s places whenever we were in town turned into a date which led to another before we had started dating. Although we weren’t official to any of our teammates, I had proposed the idea of Morgan moving in with me and she gladly accepted.
“No,” I shook my head. Morgan was just supposed to be a distraction for me at the wedding. “I slept with you that first night because I needed a distraction from the fact that the woman I fell in love with was getting married.”
“I knew you were in love with Christen,” Morgan pointed at me. Morgan had asked me over and over again if I was in love with Christen but I always denied it. “You were a distraction for me as well.”
“Well, it looks like our distractions turned out to be something good.”
“Yeah, I guess they did.”
The two of us spent the day soaking in the fact that we had actually gotten a place together. We mostly spent the day talking and watching Netflix since Morgan was still behind on Supernatural. I was slightly surprised when I got a notification telling me that Morgan posted a picture on Instagram of me. I was even more surprised by the caption that practically told everyone that we were dating.
“Mo-”
“Look, I know we haven’t talked about coming out to the public, but I thought this would be the best time,” Morgan defended. She shrugged as she reached for a water out of the fridge. “Besides, we have a place together. I think that means we’re kind of serious.”
“I was gonna say, that if you would have told me, I would have had a post already on Instagram too.”
“Oh.”
I shook my head at her and my phone started to blow up with texts not only from my Utah teammates but also from my USWNT teammates. But I chose to ignore them as I sat my phone down and pulled Morgan closer to me.
“I just wanna be with you right now.”
I couldn’t help but notice that my phone lit up with a text message from the woman who I had fallen for what felt like so long ago now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I can’t believe you cancelled your plans to take me on a hike,” Morgan shook her head.
“I wanted to do something special for you since we have officially been together for a year now,” I smiled at her. Morgan leaned over and gave my check a kiss.
I turned my attention back to the road. I knew that today was going to be the day. It was what I had been wanting to ask Morgan for so long.
“Hey, look at this,” Morgan lightly touched my arm before showing me her phone.
I glanced at it to see some pictures from my last game. I shook my head at the one she was showing me because I did not look good in it as I had been so focused on getting the ball. I turned my attention back to the road to make sure that our light was still green.
The light was green. But as soon as I was in the intersection all I could feel was a pain to my left as my ears started to ring. I was able to glance at Morgan to see that she had slumped over in her seat. But that was the last thing I saw before everything had gone black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morgan POV
“Here are her belongings, dear,” a nurse lightly touched my shoulder drawing my attention to her.
I saw the bag that held everything that had been on (Y/N) at the time of the crash. I took the bag from her and gave a small smile. The nurse left me alone in the room with (Y/N) alone.
The first thing I pulled out was (Y/N)’s phone. I wasn’t surprised to see how many missed calls and messages she had. I was sure that Alex and Kelley had been notified as soon as the hospital had gotten (Y/N)’s information since they were listed as her emergency contacts besides me. There was no doubt in my mind that they had informed the rest of the national team and all of the Royals.
I shook my head because I didn’t really feel up to answering calls and texts that would just remind me that (Y/N) was no were near the clear. I glanced at her lying in the bed before reaching out to grab her hand. I brought her hand up to my lips to give her a light kiss on the back of her hand.
“You have to be okay.”
I sat there holding her hand for a while before leaning back in the chair I was in. They told me that (Y/N) was lucky she didn’t die on impact after the truck ran a red light and hit us. I had already seen the pictures of the car and I knew that there was no way we were going to get it fixed. The driver’s side was smashed in on itself and the front of the car was in pieces.
I reached back into the bag hoping that (Y/N)’s watch was there. I knew how much it meant to her since it was one of the last things she had gotten from her parents. I felt my fingers brush against something velvet causing me to furrow my brow in confusion. I pulled the watch out but also a velvet box. I softly sighed at the ring inside.
“You were gonna propose?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked up when there was a knock on the door. I was a little surprised when I saw Tobin and Christen in the doorway. I gave both of them a soft smile.
“Hey,” I softly said as the two came in.
“How is she?” Christen asked.
“Right now, she isn’t doing too great,” I sighed looking at (Y/N). The doctors weren’t sure how long she was going to be out. “They’re not sure when she’s going to wake up. Her, um, her heart stopped beating on the table. They said it could stop at any time and that I should be ready for that.”
“Oh, kid,” Tobin said as she pulled me into a hug. I couldn’t help the tears that fell from my eyes as I held her tightly. “It’s going to be okay. (Y/N)’s a fighter. She’s gonna get through this.”
Tobin pulled back from me before her eyes widened at the box that was sitting by me. I was thankful that she didn’t say anything about it. Christen had taken a seat on the other side of (Y/N)’s bed.
“Where are your keys?” Tobin asked. I furrowed my brow in confusion. “Morgan, I need your keys so I can get into your apartment to get you and (Y/N) some different clothes to wear. You have blood on your clothes and I’m sure that (Y/N)’s clothes are just the same.”
I nodded and quickly handed her my keys. I watched as she left before looking back at (Y/N). I glanced at the box.
“Tobin and I are getting a divorce,” Christen suddenly said. I looked at her in surprise. “We’ve been heading that way for a while. Tobin and I just make better friends than we do wives. That and I realized how much I love (Y/N).”
The two of us sat in silence. I just sat there processing what Christen had told me. I wasn’t an idiot either. I knew how (Y/N) felt.
“I don’t know why I just told you that when you’re the one dating (Y/N).”
“She still loves you,” I admitted. Christen looked over at me in surprise. I knew that (Y/N) tried to hide it, but I still knew that she loved Christen. “She tries to hide it and I do think that she loves me, I just don’t think she ever fell out of love with you.”
“She was in love with me?”
I was surprised Christen didn’t already know. I knew the night I had met (Y/N) that she was head over heels for Christen Press. Maybe I had just started to date (Y/N) because I needed a distraction from my own crush who would never love me back.
“She’s been in love with you since before she broke her arm,” I told Christen. The older forward looked over at me in surprise. (Y/N) had told me about how she missed her chance to tell Christen Press that she was in love with her. “You really didn’t know?”
“No.”
Silence filled the room with us again as I looked at the box again. I reached out to grab it. As much as I wanted (Y/N) to ask me, I knew that I could never accept the ring.
“She was going to propose,” I said. Christen looked at me before looking at the box in my hands. “If this had never happened I probably would have told her yes.”
“You’re not going to?”
“You’re the one she’s always been in love with. I can’t ask her to marry me when she could be with the person she loves so much. When she wakes up, you guys should talk.”
I was taken by surprise when a monitor went off. I was even more surprised when a team of people rushed into the room pushing Christen and I back. We could both still see the heart monitor even as the team of nurses and the doctor surrounded (Y/N). We could see the line go flat.
“(Y/N)!”
I genuinely like this fancast, Rhys is perfect, amarantha too, and nyx or bone carver is amazing
(I've never linked a link in a word before on Tumblr so I hope it works lol)
OH MY GOD I am so sorry, I put this in my drafts and never actually posted it.
lets break it done below the cut a little bit.
I am totally on board with this rhysand fancast, him or richard deiss, I would be happy with either. as for feyre, personally I do not like josephine langford for this role, I don't think she could convincingly play someone I would believe almost starved to death and could hunt, and do all the trails, I just don't see it. I love her, but I just don't like her for this role. mor, okay, so, margot robbie would smash the role, we know she has the acting capability, and she's gorgeous, but I just want someone else. I want someone new, margot is always the hot blonde, like, I want a fresh face. but, I wouldn't be mad if it was her, I just think there's a geat opportunity to be had.
cassian and azriel, we know I love, since they're also my fancast options. I like the fancast for tamlin, a lot, actually. like, I'm really on board with this one. elain and nesta, I'm cool with those, nothing particularly to say, I like them. lucien, yes, amarantha, sort of yes. I love jessica chastain for this role, but again, I want someone more evil-ish. I like bryce dallas-howard. the big curly hair and the snarl when she was victoria from twilight? now imagine that with red nails and an eyeball ring. just saying.
ianthe and tarquin? love. jurian is a no because joseph morgan is my eris. if you've met klaus mikaelson, you know joseph would make a perfect eris. king of hybern is a big ol' no because that man is not evil enough looking, he looks like he'd give me his biscuit if mine broke. archeron father? too evil looking. the man is supposed to be pathetic for the majority and weak, that is a man with fire in his eyes. no. I love him, but he's too strong-looking.
cressieda, yes. vivianne, no. we can't just fancast blonde dove cameron for everything, she is not our vivianne and she has no place in acotar. I love her, but no. gwyn I can vibe with. it doesn't make me ecstatic, but I can work with it.
and the bone carver/nyx? undecided, aiden gallagher just looks so god damn serious, I feel like nyx wouldn't be that serious, feyre and rhys would work hard to make his childhood happy, nothing like the childhood those two had, they wouldn't want that stress on him. I don't hate it, though.
kallias, no. helion, no. suriel, I fuck with it, that would be hilarious. eris, no, but I would love to see sam claflin in it somewhere, even just a tiny role. emerie, yes, weaver, big big yes, beron, I can work with that, I think he'd do a good job. thesan, sure, varian, personally not at all how I pictured him, john boyega just doesn't give off the right energy for me. vassa, yes, alis, no, bryaxis, big no don't just cast smaug because he'd done a voice over for something threatening before absolutely not. the rest, eh.
Mutuals as weird fun facts/historical things
you gave me enough of a broad ask that i’m doing something a little different, so thank you for that: mutuals as historical outfits/fashions. 💕
@archaicmusings: ancient greece.
y’all gonna look at me and be surprised by this one? cal would absolutely run around in a toga, and tbh i’d join her because they look comfy.
@almightygwil: 1800s america.
ellie is lowkey the pioneer woman i wish i could be. (call me out for romanticizing the past and i will gladly name myself guilty.) but anyway, ellie would totes be the oregon trail mama of my heart with her calico prints and bonnets.
@dancingdiscofloof: 1990s business.
rove is one wheeling-and-dealing mama. i like to think of her as sigourney weaver a la “working girl” with a dozen pants suits
@six-bloodyminutes: 1960s mod.
morgan is both sophisticated enough and wild enough to pull off this eccentric moment in fashion history. you can’t convince me otherwise.
@im-an-adult-ish: 1940s.
there’s something super refreshingly honest about meredith, and i think the 40s captures that well. even in the midst of great struggle, meredith remains stalwart just like the babes of the 40s.
@hijackmy-heart: 1770s europe.
when nat has something to say, rest assured, whatever comes out of her mouth is going to be a statement. half the time i’m not sure what that statement is going to be, but i’m always surprised. i like to imagine her making those same sort of statements via the popular fashion of the mid-1770s, which emphasized huge hoop skirts, bold patterns, and bright colors.
@deacyblues: 1920s america.
pearl always always reminds me of the jazz age, so of course she’d be emblematic of that era’s fashion. she’s even got the bob to boot!
@joemazzmatazz: 1980s punk.
regan is a straight up badass, and i’m afraid of her half the time. (i mean that in the most loving way, btw.) i like to think that she would punch a man for me while wearing a leather jacket. the end.
@ineloqueent: european middle ages.
yeah, so sorry to tina, but she arguably has the least fun era on this list. fashion, especially for middle to lower class individuals (seen on the far right), was of little consequence during the middle ages, but i picked this specifically because of the lotr-vibes. tina gives off strong lotr/robin hood/king arthur vibes, and i truly think she’d be one of the few to thrive (maybe) in the middle ages.
@gwiilymslee: regency london.
sorry not sorry, i don’t like regency fashion, but i can absolutely see audrey rockin’ those empire waists and signature curls.
bonus: me! turn of the century 1900s america.
yes, mama! gimme those cinched waists, bustles, and bright parasols!!
Best Serial Killer Movies of the ’90s Ranked
https://ift.tt/3tcsgCf
Someone must have left the freezer door in the morgue open, because grisly reminders of the past are thawing before our eyes. You can see it this weekend with the release of John Lee Hancock’s The Little Things, a throwback to the days when movie stars hung out at crime scenes instead of in spandex, and it’ll be more apparent next month with the launch of Clarice, a television spinoff of 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs. All the evidence points to only one conclusion: the serial killer thrillers of the ‘90s are back!
Not that we’re complaining. For a macabre minute or two, every Hollywood name appeared eager to play either the detective or the killer—the hunter or the obsessed, which often proved interchangeable for both characters. Granted that means there can be something formulaic about many of these movies. Yet they can also be bleak, hard-edged, and ambiguous. From our modern gaze, where the dominant studio conventions prefer reassuring morality tales and sunny lighting, these movies’ preference for shadows and discomfort in the mainstream is kind of startling.
So grab your magnifying glass and fortify your stomach, because we’re about to revisit some of the best (and worst) of ‘90s serial killer thrillers. (Also this list is strictly for the decade when the genre was at its height and it excludes slasher movies like Scream, which may feature serial killers but were not exactly adult-oriented thrillers.)
12. Eye of the Beholder (1999)
Eye of the Beholder is a tonal oddity that only passingly flirts with the conventions of ‘90s serial killer thrillers, all while it tries to pay homage to (read: rip-off) Alfred Hitchcock. But any credit it deserves for deviation—including making Ashley Judd’s central femme fatale the killer—it loses in execution. As a muddied, impenetrable tale about an intelligence officer (Ewan McGregor) who spies on and falls in love with a serial killer, Eye of the Beholder is a scattershot of bad ideas that run the gamut from ludicrous to misogynistic.
Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but this movie will close the lids over your pupils inside of 30 minutes.
11. Nightwatch (1997)
It feels a little mean to rag on Ewan McGregor back-to-back, but maybe serial killer movies just aren’t his genre? That could be at least one takeaway from an ill-advised double feature of Eye of the Beholder and Nightwatch, the latter of which is a remake of a 1994 Danish film that I’ve not seen… and probably won’t since both the original film and American remake are directed by the same man.
McGregor plays medical student Martin here, a kid who gets an after school job by becoming the night watch security at the local morgue. But as a series of grisly prostitute murders pile up, Martin realizes he needs to figure out who the killer is—that or continue to be framed by the necrophiliac fiend who keeps coming by the morgue for one last liaison. It’s exactly as skeevy as it sounds. Do yourself a favor and go your whole life without hearing Nick Nolte sing “This Old Man” while climbing onto a corpse.
10. Natural Born Killers (1994)
The movie that Quentin Tarantino disowned, Natural Born Killers is a seedy mess based on a Tarantino script that was heavily rewritten by Oliver Stone, David Veloz, and Richard Rutowski. The concept itself is a seemingly inevitable escalation of the “bad romance outlaws” archetype that’s been floating around Hollywood since at least 1950’s Gun Crazy, and which was then made iconic by Bonnie & Clyde (1967).
But whereas those films relied on bank robbers living fast, Natural Born Killers descends into a seeming final form with Mickey and Mallory (Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis) as giddy serial killers who are eventually out for maximum carnage. Technically the pair are supposed to be presented as victims of traumatic child abuse—and who are then wrongfully glorified by the media. But Stone’s sloppy and tanked vision lacks the discipline to achieve anything beyond its maliciousness. Early sequences imagining Mallory’s abusive childhood like it’s a television sitcom, and later psychedelic visions of Robert Downey Jr.’s opportunistic news reporter as the Devil, do little to divorce the film from its shallow self-satisfaction in close-ups of heads being shot.
The movie came under controversy in the years after its release for inspiring alleged copycat killers as well as school shooters. It feels irresponsible to blame media for actual violence, but it’s still quite an indictment that Stone’s attempt to criticize media glorification became a favorite for many a disturbed individual with a gun.
9. Kiss the Girls (1997)
When studying competent, middle of the road Hollywood thrillers, Kiss the Girls is a solid place to start. As a decently made bit of studio convention, the movie is anchored by strong elements like Morgan Freeman as James Paterson’s literary hero, Alex Cross, and Ashley Judd as Kate, the victim who survives a masked killer’s attempt to abduct her into his harem.
Moments like Kate’s escape sequence through the North Carolina wilderness are effectively filled with adrenaline, and Judd particularly gives the salacious piece conviction. However, it is salacious to a fault. Even if the movie toned down the source novel’s even more lurid misogyny, the film studies Kate and the other victims with a lascivious male gaze, blurring sex with violence, real world horror with leering entertainment. Right down to its title, the film can be rightly criticized as Hollywood glamourizing another story about violence against women. Whether that damns the whole movie depends on the viewer, but it certainly keeps it low on our list.
8. The Bone Collector (1999)
Marketed with a hell of a tagline about there being thousands of taxi cabs in New York City that’ll get you home—and one that won’t—The Bone Collector is almost comically slavish to the clichés of ‘90s moviemaking. The wrinkle here is that after a faux cab driver begins abducting his victims off the street, the crime psychologist who must stop him is entirely stuck by his bedside. Due to a tragic accident, Denzel Washington’s Lincoln Rhyme is paralyzed from the neck down. Yet he is still able to catch serial killers by communicating in the earpiece of police officer Amelia Donaghy (an entirely unconvincing Angelina Jolie).
The Last Book on the Left Takes on the Grim History of Serial Killers
By Alec Bojalad
Together the pair stay one step behind the mystery killer’s tracks as he executes a series of increasingly gruesome and ridiculous murders. It’s preposterous, and in some ways a forerunner for Saw with the satisfaction it takes in absurd death traps, but Washington is effortlessly compelling, even when he never leaves his apartment. As a bit of absurd Hollywood fluff, right down to the ultimately lackluster unmasking of the killer, it can be entertaining, even if you’ll deny it afterward.
7. Copycat (1995)
More potent than I remembered, Copycat is a genuinely well-crafted Hollywood thriller that may not reinvent the wheel but takes it out for a damn good spin. In the driver’s seat is Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Helen Hudson, a criminal psychologist who is an expert on serial killers until one follows her into the bathroom after a guest lecture. He nearly hangs her from the ceiling. Following that white-knuckled opening, the film jumps years ahead and Helen has become agoraphobic and afraid to leave her home.
Yet when a local series of murders reveal the pattern of a predator imitating the methods of his favorite “celebrities”—one crime scene is like the Boston Strangler and another emulates the horrors of Jeffrey Dahmer—Helen is pulled out of retirement by a no-nonsense detective (Holly Hunter). The winning chemistry between Weaver and Hunter—who are refreshingly free from the studio-mandated romantic subplots in some of the other movies on this list—and the blunt force power of their performances aid this sincerely disquieting flick. A needlessly convoluted third act aside, the movie still works as a warning about the danger of fanboys a generation early.
6. Fallen (1998)
Denzel Washington appears again thanks to this clever supernatural spin on the serial killer genre. At the beginning of Fallen, Washington’s John Hobbes appears on top of the world. The serial killer he chased for years (Elias Koteas) is about to breathe deeply in the gas chamber. Yet after the lever is pulled, and with Koteas singing the Rolling Stones’ “Time is On My Side” until his last breath, a funny thing happens: the murders continue.
In fact, more than just the killings, strangers in the street sing “Time is On My Side” in Hobbes’ ear, and he soon realizes that he faces a devil of a killer whose been operating since the beginning—quite literally since the villain is a demon who was once an angel that fell with Lucifer. It’s a bizarre premise given strutting confidence thanks to Washington’s performance, as well as good supporting work by John Goodman and Donald Sutherland. Twenty years later and its ending still sticks with me.
5. The Exorcist III (1990)
If you haven’t seen The Exorcist III, we know what you’re thinking: “Really?!” Yes. In fact, this isn’t even an exorcist movie; it should’ve been titled Legion like the 1983 novel it’s based on. Alas writer-director William Peter Blatty was forced to use the title and do reshoots that added an exorcism in the climax. Still, this supernatural thriller which involves a serial killer back from the dead is far better than it has any right to be.
Following the character of Lt. Kinderman from the 1973 masterpiece, the middle-aged gumshoe is now played by George C. Scott instead of the late Lee J. Cobb, and he possesses Scott’s usual love for contrasts between the restrained whisper and a bombastic howl. He also makes a sympathetic, secular detective forced to face the horrors of Hell when a series of murders committed against Catholic priests appear to be the work of the Gemini Killer (Brad Dourif), a serial killer whom Kinderman sent to the chair more than 10 years ago.
The Exorcist Is Still the Scariest Movie Ever Made
By David Crow
Somehow the fiend—plus Kinderman’s long dead pal Father Damien Karras (Jason Miller)—appear to now be living in the same body of a John Doe kept in a mental asylum. With an unrelenting atmosphere of dread, palpable tension, and more of Blatty’s intellectual struggle with concepts of faith and evil, the film is more high-minded than its hacky title suggests. It also features one of the best jump scares in movie history.
4. Summer of Sam (1999)
The only movie on this list directly based on an actual serial killer’s crimes, Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam is a serious-minded joint. However, it’s only partially about the murders perpetrated by David Berkowitz, aka the “.44 Caliber Killer,” aka the Son of Sam. Rather the film focuses on the effects a serial killer has on the culture of New York City during the sweltering summer of 1977, and how it affects young lives trying to make it in the big city.
Influenced by Lee and his co-writers Michael Imperioli and Victor Colicchio’s memories of growing up in 1970s New York, the pic is a love letter to a grim moment in history when the city was about to explode with murders, blackouts, crime, and disco. All of this is digested from the vantages of Vinny (John Leguizamo), a philandering hairdresser guilt-ridden for cheating on his wife (Mira Sorvino), and his childhood pal Ritchie (Adrien Brody), who’s left the old neighborhood behind to join the fledgling punk rock scene.
With a greater interest in how a serial killer affects the culture and institutions of a city on edge than being a traditional crime drama, Summer of Sam is a bit of a forerunner to David Fincher’s far more polished Zodiac from a few years later. With heavy-handed dialogue and a plot too big for Lee to fully get his arms around, even at 142 minutes, Summer of Sam can be uneven and messy. But it has the sweaty incorrigibility of a long night out, and of revelries half remembered like from a fever dream.
3. The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)
The rare serial killer movie told entirely from the perspective of the killer, Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley is disarmingly creepy. Despite its glossy awards bait sheen, there is a cold-blooded streak that runs deep to the heart of the piece, likely due to Patricia Highsmith’s source 1955 novel. Starring Matt Damon fresh off his Good Will Hunting golden boy sheen, the film uses its casting to disorient and ultimately disturb.
Like Highsmith’s book, the film is not structured like a traditional thriller. It instead favors a detached ambivalence about its seemingly nebbish hero as he agrees to become an errand boy for the rich by traveling to 1950s Italy in order to retrieve a silver spoon cad (Jude Law) for his father. But the more time Tom Ripley (Damon) spends with Law’s Dickie Greenleaf, the more he grows envious of Dickie’s lifestyle, his wealth and confidence, and maybe even his affection for socialite Marge (Gwyneth Paltrow). There is a subtle—too subtle due to ‘90s Hollywood conventions—homoerotic undercurrent throughout the film as Ripley slowly works up the courage to take his first life. It won’t be his last.
Seven: The Brilliance of David Fincher’s Chase Scene
Highsmith wound up publishing four subsequent sequels to The Talented Mr. Ripley, but unfortunately no more were made with Damon. Perhaps because this was too unsettling for an ongoing franchise.
2. Seven (1995)
While watching David Fincher’s masterful Seven, the thing that immediately stands out is the oppressive nihilism that permeates throughout. There were decades of neo noir before this detective yarn about the hunt for a serial killer, but none demonstrated such an overbearing sense of despair before the opening credits were even concluded. And perhaps what makes it unshakable is how welcoming the film is toward bleakness; it succumbs long before the gut-punch finale.
Telling the story of an old cop days from retirement (Morgan Freeman) and a hotheaded rookie detective (Brad Pitt), Andrew Kevin Walker’s script has an economy of pace that still impresses despite its cynicism. Very quickly one murder becomes two, then three, and soon four. Yet none of the atrocities are reveled in by Fincher’s blocking; they’re off-screen mutilations which leave psychic damage on his two leads and, eventually, us. The deaths also quickly establish a pattern that their serial killer is targeting seven souls, each intended to embody one of the seven deadly sins.
The movie is a classic now for its climax where the killer “John Doe” (a reptilian Kevin Spacey) turns himself in and leads the cops into the darkest pit, but it’s the entire package that makes this one linger more than 25 years later. At the end of the film, Somerset quotes Hemingway by saying, “‘The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.’ I agree with the second part.” I’m not convinced his film does.
1. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
As the film that kick-started the idea that serial killers could create their own film genre, The Silence of the Lambs still remains the best of its kind. Blessedly unaware that it was creating conventions for countless copycats, the film tells its psychological drama with simplicity and clarity. Whereas other films on this list bask in their bleakness, there is a dogged optimism and even perverse warmth to this Jonathan Demme adaptation of Thomas Harris’ Silence of the Lambs novel. And that’s of course largely attributable to the casting of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster.
As Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Hopkins is of course monumental. It’s a performance that turned a quinquagenarian into an overnight movie star, and became Hopkins’ calling card as he returned to the not-so-good doctor’s well one too many times. Still, he’s undeniably enthralling as Hannibal, a cannibal psychologist with superhuman powers of observation and mental menace. Even so, Foster is often overlooked by critics for her own contributions as the FBI trainee who’s proverbially fed to the incarcerated Lecter—a pretty face to get the serial killer to consult pro bono on the crimes of another mass murderer. It’s just one more example of casual sexism faced by Clarice that gives Foster as much to play as Hopkins.
Surrounded by the slights and prejudices of men—be they in law enforcement or straight jackets—Clarice is constantly underestimated. She finds an intellectual rapport with Hannibal, but she pulls herself out of the darkest night, and the screaming of the lambs, without assistance. Her perseverance matched by Hannibal’s darkly seductive qualities is the juxtaposition that makes Silence of the Lambs one of the finest films of its decade.
The Apex was a great set piece, and I can't help but try to make it weirder, more present: of course, in a way, it's always been there, tied to invisible strings by the weavers, but imagine if it could rip through time, space, simulation, so that even in simulacra whenever Morgan sees it Alex has a distinct sense of being watched, or being consumed
15. Favorite song? 34. Have you ever fired a gun? 51. Are you scared of spiders? 69. Extrovert or Introvert? 91. Do you like your own name?
15. favorite song?
hmmmmm, it kinda depends on the day. my theme song is circles by soul coughing, that track has a permanent place in the top five. today i wasn’t feeling great and ended up listening to both bøjet’s i need u and the safe music from amnesia: the dark descent on loops as a way to self-soothe. in my defense it sorta worked.
34. have you ever fired a gun?
not yet! my friend zach really wants to see me fire an ak for some reason (he’s into guns, all i know i know from movies and like, project research).
51. are you scared of spiders?
mmmmm only certain kinds. the cute fuzzy ones i like, and those massive--i think they’re called orb weavers? i like those too. and tarantulas are really neat (don’t want them close to me but i like to look at them!). but if i see anything that even remotely looks like a fiddleback or a brown recluse i kill on sight if it’s in my house.
69. extrovert or introvert?
extrovert! my mbti type is enfj (although i can admittedly still be a little shy around new people; imagine a golden retriever but with a lot of anxiety).
91. do you like your own name?
you know, i do! i was almost named lauren elizabeth. i think morgan’s a bit more in-tune with my personality. although at the same time i think my middle name--elise--is much prettier. kinda wish they’d picked that for my first name instead but eh, it’s not a huge deal. :p
Characters with Autism masterlist
n this masterlist you’ll find comic/movie/videogame/tv show characters that have Autism (not the actor but only the character they play). Like/Reblog if you thought it was useful.
Comics
Hikaru Azuma(With the Light: Raising an Autistic Child) [x] Sachiko and Masato's firstborn, and the main character of the series. His autism showed up one and a half years after his birth. Hikaru hated to be picked up and held as a baby and did not grow in step with children his age, leading Sachiko to seek a doctor for him. He always has been wearing diapers for a long time. He even stays in his stroller even when he's too old for it. Hikaru dislikes loud and painful noises such as crowds, Buddhist chanting, and babies crying. He likes trains and memorizes many of them, including ones no longer running. Like many autistic people, when something is changed in his routine without any warning, such as a show switching times or being canceled, it upsets him. However, as the story continues, he and his parents figure out how to handle the situation. Since elementary school, he starts to show some unique talents, including cooking and mixing colors.
Black Manta(Aquaman)[x] An alternative version was given in #8 of the 2003 Aquaman series. In this origin, the boy who would become Black Manta was an autistic orphan placed in Gotham City's Arkham Asylum. He felt comfortable in freezing cold water, but found cotton sheets excruciatingly painful. Because the attendants at Arkham did not know how to deal with autism, they would end up restraining him to the bed as he struggled and screamed whenever they tried putting him to bed. In this version, young Black Manta was also fascinated when he saw Aquaman on television.
Johnny Do(Psi-Force)[x] Johnny Do is highly autistic and was treated as a virtual animal in a Russian project investigating paranormals. Boyd was able to forge a connection with him and became his caregiver. "Johnny Do" is the name given to him by Boyd—his real name and background prior to his capture by the Soviet government are unknown; Dehman Doosha (Demon Within) is what his captors called him.
Mark Shiffron(Postal)[x] Hawkins based the lead character on his college roommate, a smart man with Aspergers whose behavior was mocked by other students. To ensure he wrote the condition authentically without being offensive, Hill researched the condition and spoke with people who have dealt with it.
Mr Fantastic(Fantastic Four)[x] He was first speculated, and later confirmed that he had diagnosed himself to be on the autism spectrum.
Movies
Eric Gibb(Played by Jay Underwood) The Boy Who Could Fly[x] Milly and Geneva observe Eric Gibb (Underwood), an autistic boy living next door with his alcoholic uncle Hugo (Gwynne). Eric has never spoken a word in his life, doesn't like to be around people and exhibits bizarre behavior related to flying.
