I'm thinking of getting one of those robot vacuums, but don't know how to start picking the right one. Do you have opinions on the matter? Do you like yours, and if so, what model is it?
I have a Xiaomi S10 EU, which is a midrange model that I think is now discontinued in favour of the S20? Xiaomi does a pretty good job with their designs, my family have various Xiaomi models that all work fine. Roborock is another brand I've heard good things about, and they're an offshoot of Xiaomi and seem to be where a lot of design innovation is so presumably that's a good sign. I assume iRobot is still making Roombas but I've never used a Roomba.
(The craziest new stuff from Roborock includes a robot arm for picking up and moving small objects out of the way? Crazy, you can now teach stabby to thrust!)
A few notes
1) They work best if you can keep your floor clear and generally free of small objects, and obviously don't navigate stairs and steps well. My apartment has very little stuff on the floor, and all my cables and wires are tucked into corners and along skirtings. If your wife has filled your house with chintz you may have a hard time getting a robot around on the floor.
Robovacs love to eat bag straps and shoelaces and charging cords, so if you tend to have those laying around on the floor and don't have the wherewithal to clear them up, you'll probably spend a lot of time untangling things from the brush.
2) They can handle most area rugs, but not all, e.g. it handles my thin cotton living room rug with short tassels without an issue but I have to move my thick kitchen floor mat out of the way or it'll eat the longer, thicker tassels. You can mark areas as no-vacuum zones if this isn't your bag.
3) Definitely spring for one with at least LiDAR, which you can see by the little stick-up lighthouse module on the top that houses the LiDAR module. Without LiDAR the robot has to just bump around semi-randomly to navigate, which is slow and inaccurate. It can build a map but the map is very poor and it barely knows where it is.
With LiDAR it knows exactly where it is, because it knows where it isn't. The very newest and most expensive bots do away with rotary LiDAR and just use forward looking cameras and 3D depth sensors to do VSLAM but if you're going for that price range from a big manufacturer you'll probably be fine. Most companies list their sensors on their site, but they often use weird names so it can be hard to tell.
(see above, with and without a LiDAR tower. Some very new models can retract the LiDAR tower to go under low furniture.)
4) You can cover a lot of house without needing the self-emptying base stations even if you run it regularly, I'd say probably around 200m² in a fairly ordinary dust environment. In my 50m² apartment I run it at least every weekday and empty out the integrated dust container once a week and that's usually fine, and I don't have any particular air filtration running, but I do keep the windows mostly closed when I can.
5) Speaking of maintenance, I don't use the mop feature on mine but it does keep your floors cleaner while requiring more attention to be paid to water levels. I'm actually going to try using mine more now and see how that goes. This is one thing where I think the stations might make sense even for a pretty small apartment. My brother uses the mop feature on his all the time and he likes it.
6) General maintenance: not that much! It'll buzz you on your phone when it thinks a component has hit end of life but so far I don't think anyone is using DRM to force you to use first-party parts or making you throw away things that are working, you can just manually reset the timers, although so far when the warnings do come up I tend to agree that it's time to replace a part.
You have to empty out the dust and change the water, and if it eats something you might spend a few minutes detangling the rotating brushes. The brushes will get knotted with hair and need cleaning every couple weeks to months depending on how much hair and how long it is, but most models come with a little knife tool for cutting the hair. Never tried the models that advertise that they don't get tangled.
7) Bonus nerd shit you probably shouldn't do. If you really do not want your Robovac connecting to the cloud, there's some work on developing self-hosted management servers that you can point a rooted robot at, and of course you can root your vacuum cleaner, because it's just an embedded Linux box on wheels. The open source management server software is called Valetudo.

Revolutionizing Home Cleaning in Coimbatore with Eureka Forbes Robots

In the bustling city of Coimbatore, where traditions meet technology, a quiet revolution is taking place in homes across the city. Eureka Forbes robots cleaning in Coimbatore, a name long trusted in Indian households for clean water and air, has introduced cutting-edge robotic cleaning technology that is transforming how Coimbatore residents approach household chores.
The Rising Demand for Smart Cleaning Solutions
Coimbatore, known as the "Manchester of South India" for its industrial prowess, has always been quick to embrace technological advancements. As the city's middle class expands and more families find both partners working outside the home, the demand for efficient home maintenance solutions has skyrocketed.
Time is increasingly valuable for Coimbatore's residents, and traditional cleaning methods often fall short in today's fast-paced lifestyle. Enter the Eureka Forbes cleaning robots – autonomous devices that handle daily cleaning tasks with minimal human intervention.
Eureka Forbes' Robotic Cleaning Range
The company has introduced several models tailored to meet different cleaning needs:
E.Bot Series
The flagship E.Bot series combines powerful suction with intelligent navigation systems. Using advanced mapping technology, these robots can navigate around furniture, avoid falling down stairs, and methodically clean every accessible corner of your home. The robots automatically return to their charging stations when batteries run low and resume cleaning from where they left off.
AquaBot
Understanding the unique cleaning needs of Indian homes, Eureka Forbes has developed the AquaBot, which combines dry vacuuming with wet mopping capabilities. This dual-function approach is particularly valuable in Coimbatore's climate, where dust accumulation is common.
Benefits for Coimbatore Households
Time Efficiency
For busy professionals in Coimbatore's thriving textile, engineering, and IT sectors, time saved on cleaning translates to more quality time with family or for personal pursuits. The robots can be scheduled to clean while residents are at work, ensuring they return to a freshly cleaned home.
Health Improvements
Coimbatore's industrial heritage sometimes contributes to higher dust levels. The HEPA filtration systems in Eureka Forbes robots trap microscopic particles that traditional sweeping might miss or redistribute into the air. For families with allergies or respiratory concerns, this represents a significant health benefit.
Water Conservation
In a city historically facing water scarcity issues, the AquaBot's efficient wet cleaning uses significantly less water than traditional mopping methods. This aligns with Coimbatore's growing environmental consciousness.
Adapting to Local Needs
What sets Eureka Forbes robots cleaning in Coimbatore ' approach apart is how they've tailored their robots to address specifically Indian, and even regional, cleaning challenges:
Programming for different floor types common in Coimbatore homes, from traditional stone floors to modern tiles
Enhanced dust handling capacity compared to international models
Ability to navigate around traditional furniture arrangements
Customer service centers specifically in Coimbatore for quick maintenance and support
The Economic Impact
The introduction of these cleaning robots is creating ripples in Coimbatore's economy. Local electronics retailers are expanding their smart home sections, and service technicians are being trained in this new technology. Additionally, as homes become easier to maintain, property values in Coimbatore's residential areas see subtle increases.
Looking Ahead
As Coimbatore continues its trajectory as one of South India's fastest-growing cities, the integration of smart home technology becomes increasingly important. Eureka Forbes is planning to expand their robotic cleaning range with AI-enhanced models that learn household routines and adjust cleaning patterns accordingly.
The company is also exploring partnerships with local smart home automation businesses to create integrated systems where cleaning robots work in conjunction with other smart devices.
Conclusion
The quiet hum of Eureka Forbes robots cleaning in Coimbatore represents more than just technological adoption; it signals a shift in lifestyle priorities where efficiency and cleanliness coexist without compromising on time for family and personal growth. As these robots become more common in Coimbatore households, they're not just cleaning floors – they're helping redefine modern living in this dynamic South Indian city.
For residents interested in experiencing this cleaning revolution firsthand, demonstration centers have been established at major retail locations throughout Coimbatore, offering hands-on trials of these innovative cleaning companions.

How Sustainable Cleaning Practices Can Lower Office Repair Costs
Normally, work sites should strive to achieve some level of neatness and cleanliness so as to ensure a conducive work environment and maintain hygienic concerns, with other costs seen as amenities associated with the practice of employment; few realize that green cleaning can help lower maintenance costs to an extent. Among the commercial cleaning services near me that not only eventually cost so much but also look intently at sustainable cleaning are many companies. If they introduce these practices, the level could be imagined to be lowered at organizational spending while the office living quarters get better.
Advantages Associated with Using Sustainable Cleaning
1. Sustainable Cleaning, which Impacts Furniture and Equipment Life
Many cleaning solutions have corrosive chemicals that wear away the thing cleaned. Sustainable cleaning cannot address the protection of these things, but it does stop replacing personal properties as often.
2. Reduction in HVAC Maintenance Costs
Using traditional cleaning products, accumulated dirt, dust, and residues can be found inside the air ducts, making it costlier to maintain the HVAC system. However, good facilities make sure the HVAC system is working in the cleanest possible condition, hence reducing waste on repair and enhancement of the energy consumed by the system.
3. Reduction in Water and Energy Consumption
Sustainable cleaning also aims for both water efficiency and energy conservation. This cut down using water under many green cleaning methods, including microfibers along with mops and cloths. Energy-efficient equipment supplies maintained settings in stores without harping on power. This warrants reductions in payments required for electricity.
4. Prevention of Health Issues that Are Costly in the Workplace
Many green cleaning methods do not have volatile organic compounds that are responsible for bad indoor air quality. The employment of such a cleaner is thus able to lessen the rates of absence by reducing the triggers for allergy and respiratory complications leading to rather substantial mitigation in costs footing health care bills.
5. Savings on Disposal
Sustainable cleaning products are packaged in an eco-friendly way and produce very minimal plastic and chemical waste, leading to reduced waste disposal lifecycle costs.
Engaging in Sustainable Cleaning-he Best Guide to Office Restoration
You have decided to go green in your cleaning chores, so below are some of the basic steps you can put in place:

We’ve got you covered with the best robot vacuums on the internet’s superstore. This Eufy is our top pick for a robot vacuum that can do it all. Williams gave it a whirl and immediately loved its 3D mapping technology that helps the vacuum avoid furniture during its cleaning process. The robot vacuum also works wonders as a mop. Williams appreciates how it “cleans without sloshing and smearing water on the floor.” The cleaner also boasts dual water tanks so it doesn't leave a trail of murky water on her hard floors. Once you’re done cleaning altogether, the vacuum cleaner can hold and auto-empty the sealed dust bag—which can hold over two months’ worth of dirt and debris—in the dock. As for the mop, the robot vacuum uses the auto-washing function and ozonated water and hard floor cleaner to clean the rolling mop.Bottom line: “It’s quite expensive, but if you have the budget, the Eufy Omni S1 Pro Robot Vacuum is one of the best robot vacuums you can buy,” Williams says. “It has a plethora of features and functions that can make your life and your floor care process much easier.”LG CordZero All in One Cordless Vacuum CleanerAccordionItemContainerButtonSleek designLong run timeIntensive, five-step filtration processAccordionItemContainerButtonSlightly large cleaning portAccordionItemContainerButtonPower: CordlessDust container: BaggedHEPA filter: YesAttachments: Crevice and combination toolsAs for the best cordless vacuums, Williams can’t get enough of LG’s CordZero Cordless Stick Vacuum. After testing LG CordZero cordless vacuums for several years now, she calls this one her favorite because of its “sleek and stylish design.” Its 60-minute run time is another huge plus with the two included swappable batteries. From there, you can swap between three suction power modes (standard, power, and turbo) for a personalized clean. In terms of accessories, standouts include the adjustable telescopic wand, which Williams appreciates for allowing her to “choose the right height to be comfortable.” She also likes to swap out the power nozzle to use it to vacuum the HVAC vents on her ceilings and above her kitchen cabinets. If you’re constantly battling allergies, you can find relief in knowing that this vacuum has a five-step HEPA filtration system that seals allergens and fine particles inside the vacuum—even when emptying it. “I merely place the vacuum on the All-in-One Tower, which has a separate three-step filtration system, that automatically empties the dust bin into a disposable dust bag,” she says. Several AD team members have this cleaner and haven’t been disappointed. “Since my home is covered with tile, this Shark vacuum has been a big help in picking up and scrubbing virtually any mess that makes its way to my floors,” says senior commerce editor Nashia Baker. “I seamlessly navigate it through my home with its narrow, cordless design and pivoting motorhead to get in tight spaces.”Baker and Williams note that this upright vacuum is incredibly intuitive to use. It has a smart display that monitors the battery life and status on how much cleaning solution you have left in the vacuum. The manufacturer recommends using the self-cleaning cycle after every use of the wet-dry vacuum. Baker says that it’s pretty quick (about 10 minutes or so) and helpful to keep the vacuum in good condition, but do keep in mind that the process is a bit noisy. It comes with a charger to load up the battery and has a 20-minute run time on a full charge.Out of all of the vacuums on our list, this one is the easiest to clean by far.
