@alberichfanpage mentioned that Freyja talks about Jerren but even if we had the option to ask Ansbach about Varre, I’d imagine we’d get something like this

INKTOBER 29 - Battle in the Enir-Ilim, Elden Ring
The last area of the DLC, the Enir-Ilim is where Queen Marika ascended to goddess in the past. After discovering Miquella's true intentions in ascending to god (thanks to the revelation of St Trina), you only have to stop her at the Gate of Divinity with the help of Sir Ansbach and Thiollier, but you will have to face her group of fanatics commanded by Leda, in a battle in the Enir-Ilim. Where I think Miquella’s Followers were from and what their lives were like Pre-Shattering; A Short List
(Disclaimer that this is purely for fun and comprised of headcanons. I do not claim anything below as irl lore.)
Needle-Knight Leda; An orphan, probably from around Leyndell or somewhere on the Altus Plateau. Her life was misfortuned long before she met Miquella and swore herself to knighthood, so she has an unhealthy attachment to her "lord".
Redmane Freyja; A Redmane obviously, but I think her family likely originated from Limgrave. She started her career as a warrior/duelist long before she joined Radahn's army and rose through the ranks quickly due to her experience and prowess.
The Hornsent; We learn about his life a little in the dlc, but I hc him as a very different person pre-Marika and his family's death. A religious man and a homemaker, its no wonder he went insane with grief and hatred. I imagine he was absolutely WHIPPED for his wife and was the sort of dad who lets his kid put him in ridiculous outfits because it makes them happy.
Sir Ansbach; You're TRIPPING if you think this man wasn't a member of Leyndell's high society prior to meeting Mohg. The grace, the class, the educated mentality. This man was likely a noble or wealthy educator of some kind, and I hc that he was the organizer behind most of Mohg's ambitions & early cult years. He taught Mohg to be a leader of class and wit, and Mohg taught him to embrace his bloodlust. In my mind, they were together from the beginning and now Ansbach is alone.
Thiollier; There is a somewhat popular theory that this weak kitten boi is a surviving member of the Shaded Castle. AKA the noble House Marais. And you know what? They're right. Not only is he french-coded, this youthful tarnished was almost certainly wrote to reflect the emotional outcome of child neglect/abuse. Before meeting Saint Trina, it's clear he had little to live for. Like Leda, I hc that his childhood plays a large part in his obsessive personality towards a "savior" figure.
Sir Moore; This sweet pest obviously grew up in the Land of Shadow. I hc that he was in fact born a member of the forager brood & spent his young years exploring old ruins and unearthing unique "treasures" of the Hornsent v. Messmer war. Later, he learned incantations through the Rot to transform himself into a more human appearance and was likely the first to join Leda and Dane when they followed Miquella through the veil. He was always a valued member of the group, and I imagine Leda and Dane were too soft on him to consider killing him in timeline where the Tarnished convinces him to stay out of the final battle.
Dryleaf Dane; A reserved man, he was likely born to somewhere on the Altus Plateau and became a missionary for the Golden Order. He left the Lands Between long ago to spread the word of Marika, and likely went so far West he was in the East once more. I hc that he spent over a decade in the Land of Reeds learning martial arts, and likely only returned to the Lands Between Post-Shattering. Dane gives big "white man goes to Japan to learn how to be a Samurai" energy, the kind from those old movies your dad loves (you know the ones)

Spoilers for Shadow of the Erdtree but...
So, Moore. I'll admit, didn't strike me as very interesting my first playthrough. Yeah, he was a funny little guy, but that seemed to be it.
I wanna talk about Moore for just a bit.
However, on a few subsequent runs and an unhealthy amount of thinking, I believe Moore is a lot moore complex than I originally thought.
When we first meet him, he's right outside Belurat, next to Ansbach. Most of Miq's followers can be found on close proximity to each other, which may just be to show that they are all fellows, united in common cause, but there might be some reason for specific placements.
As far as I'm aware, Moore's placement next to Ansbach doesn't have any significance, but I'd love to hear any theories or thoughts if you have any.
He's like the supplier for Leda's band, working with other members of the forager brood to find things, which he then shares with the others.
"Things give joy to all," as he says.
Moore talks in a very simplistic manner. To me, it almost seems like he's forcing some of the words out. This could be because he's actually not a guy, but one of the pests, part of the forager brood. That's just a headcannon of mine, but I do think there's some evidence for it.
Anyway, Moore's quest revolves, as all of the followers do, around the breaking of Miquella's great rune.
But there's quite a bit of missable dialogue before it that really adds to his character.
We learn he's part of the forager brood, who you can find, well, foraging all over the Lands of Shadow. They'll give you cookbooks, and generally be cute little guys (gender-neutral). There's one by the church of crusade that's shivering and cold.
Pop down a warming stone or other similar items, and it'll heat right up. If you go back to Moore after doing that, he'll give you a cookbook with two items that are almost useful.
If you attack any of the brood, he'll eventually invade you and you'll be forced to kill him.
After the great rune is shattered, Moore seems to have a bit of a crisis. He feels abandoned, and will tell you that him and his brood were abandoned by their mother.
Before we continue any further, let's speculate on who Moore's mother could be.
Personally, I believe the forager brood to have, in some way, been birthed by Romina. A bit obvious, perhaps, but the pests have always been associated with the scarlet rot, and Romina became pretty bug-like after she accepted the rot. As to why she would abandon her buggy children, that's where my theory starts to fall apart. If I end up making a post about Romina herself, I'll explore this idea further.
Back to Moore, we can now get into the specifics of what his quest is actually about. What the theme is, how it informs our reading of the rest of the game, etc.
Moore's quest is about trauma. And, to be moore specific, Moore wants to forget the trauma of his abandonment, and believes Miquella's love is the way to do that.
After the great rune is shattered, you are able to give Moore a rare three-way choice to end his quest. If you choose the "sad forever" option, Moore will tell you goodbye and be found dead, next to the corpse of one of his siblings.
If you choose the "put it behind you" option, Moore will decide to keep following Miquella, believing that his love will "banish the pain."
The next time you meet him will be in your fight against Leda, where he will remark about what a tragedy it is for you and the others to fight, and will die. He seems to regret needing to fight you. At his heart, Moore is kind and gentle, only moved to the tides of battle because he, like so many others, believes it will save him.
Accepting Miquella's love is not the solution to moving past his trauma. There is no easy escape, and even if Miq's love did banish Moore's pain, it might not even help him feel any better.
This is one of the moore interesting ends to Moore's quest, because it informs us a bit about the theme of his questline, and Miquella's faliure to understand others' suffering. Becaus Surprise! Somehow I'm actually still talking about Miquella!
Basically, if Miquella really wanted to fix things he would've invented therapy.
Moore's final ending is very interesting as well because he's the only character that can actually survive the whole dlc.
If you choose "I don't know," Moore will eventually come to the conclusion that, even though it hurts, even though he's still sad, he has his family and the things he enjoys doing, and concludes that that's enough for him. And because of that, he actually survives the dlc. He's still there after you defeat Miquella and Radahn, and even though he's sad that Leda and the others never come by to visit, he's still alive. He's still foraging.
And this, I think, is actually another thing the game is trying to tell us.
Amidst all of these great ambitions, these demigods and champions trying to bring about change, to "fix" the world as they see fit, the one person who survives is the only one who finds contentment not in some great goal, not in revenge or obsession, but in simply appreciating what he has and trying to make the best of it.
It's not a perfect solution, sure, but Moore eventually comes to understand that, while he might not be fully happy, losing himself to some goal is not going to magically fix his problems or give him some sense of fulfillment. That's why he's the only one that survives.
Even in the base game, most characters eventually die, mostly for the reasons I stated above. Alexander chases a glorious battle, Hewg loses himself to the promise and obsession of making a godslaying weapon, Melina burns herself to fulfil our goals.
But Moore can live.
And maybe this is what Miquella was missing. In the pursuit of a perfect world, he missed the fact that no world can be perfect, especially not one built off the back of suffering. Instead, Elden Ring says, true peace—true kindness—comes from making the best of your situation and appreciating what you already have.
Of course, this doesn't mean you shouldn't try to improve your surroundings any, it just means that often our happiness can come from things we might have taken for granted.
Personally, I like Moore's second ending the best, the one where he fights alongside Leda and the others, but that's only because I'm a sucker for a good tragedy. Moore's inclusion in that fight also strengthens the idea that what you're doing is kind of wrong (something I'll get to when I talk about Leda) and that there is no moral black and white, only shades of gray.
All in all, Moore is a lot moore interesting than he might first appear, and his inclusion reveals another theme and strengthens all the other ones we've talked about.
I'll get to Leda soon, and eventually to all of Miq's followers, but when I seriously started analyzing Moore I realized I needed to make a post on him. Although, I'll admit I'm still not completely sold on this interpretation, I'm still pretty proud of it.
Okay, bye.

dear every person who tells moore to be sad forever so he isn’t in the leda fight: you can just tell him “i don’t know” and he’ll just. stay there. he won’t show up in the fight. you don’t have to make him so sad he dies

It was never Kindly Miquella, was it? The Erdtree was leading you all along. So that you might ascend to lordship.
I really like the fight with Leda and other Miquella followers. The music, the dialogue...it feels so tragic, that it has ended this way; but it was unavoidable. It reminded me a bit of the Moon Presence boss fight in Bloodborne - because once again, it feels like we are the main boss here. We are the greater evil for these characters.

Uhhhhh- so anyways-
Age Headcanons for SOTE NPCs; A Senseless List
A reminder that this is purely for fun and makes no claim for or against canon. This is merely a collection of headcanons and vague vibes, enjoy.
Leda: For this post, let's count biological age and not weird-resurection-ages. To me, Leda seems to be around 25-28. Old enough to have lost her naivety for the world, but young enough to keep the pedestal she's placed Miquella upon. She's an adult, sure, but I'd hardly say she's reached her full abilities. If Miquella had succeeded, she certainly would have matured into a vicious killer with decades of battle experience.
Freyja: This redmane has left her years of doe-eyes and frilly bows long behind. She's an easy 38, cool and confident in her body and her lifestyle. Sure, she's noticed the faint lines that have started to form on her brow but- eh- who cares? She'll keep doing what she's always done. To her, age really is just a number.
Dryleaf Dane: The martial arts know no age limit. 20, 30, 60- only the dedication of the mind and body matters in the pursuit of perfection. Dane has seen it all in his eventful 50-ish years of life, and his fighting style reflects that. It's his reserved demeanor and silent loyalty that make him a perfect balance for the cynical Leda. To whom he likens himself as both a friend and mentor. Honestly, he appreciates her youthful fervor and often finds himself considering her something like a daughter.
The Hornsent: He's 40. 40 what? Just 40, as far as he'd ever tell you anyhow. A trusting man he is not, even with the simplicities of sharing one's true age. Such pointless talking points are for truer friends and family, of which the hornsent has none. Perhaps under the guidance of Kindly Miquella, he might one day celebrate another year of life lived in vengeance. For now, however, the memory only fills him with a deep and singular loneliness...
Igon: Drake Warriors aren't known for living long lives, and hunters of all kinds are known for it even less. Igon is the exception. Without the magics of the land of shadow, he would be about 42. An impressive age to reach, for one in his line of work. Although the lack of care he gives to his own appearance would lead one to believe he was much older.
Sir Ansbach: GILF lovers rejoice, this man is easily the oldest npc on our list today. I would say Ansbach is dutifully vague about his true age. While it may amuse him to give the true number, and watch the flicker of awe for his agility cross his companions' face, he remains aware that giving his real age is a disadvantage should things turn south. On one hand, it may cause him to be targeted by those unaware of his skill. An easy problem to solve, if not overly tiresome. On the other, it endangers on a more... emotional level. He cannot risk his allies putting his safety over their own on such a baseless reason as his advanced age. He is SIR Ansbach, after all. What sort of man, as both mentor and knight, could abide by such an obvious danger to his juniors? Not he, that is certain, and so his many decades remain a mystery (although they certainly number more than Dane's)
Thiollier: Awkward, skinny, and chronically anxious. Thiollier reads as young, very young. He's most certainly the baby of the group, even if most of the others don't treat him differently for it. After all, they must likely assume him only a few years younger than Leda. They all began their lives as warriors, scholars, and missionaries at a similar age. So to them it matters very little how old their resident perfumer is. Freyja assumes he is 22, the Hornsent suspects him little older than 17, and only the Tarnished and Sir Ansbach know he is - truthfully- somewhere in between.
Moore: It is difficult to place Moore, since he is kin to the Pests and therefore likely a different race/species category for biological age. However, I would say that Moore is somewhat youthful, based upon his naivety. Likely, he is in between Thiollier and Leda in age - when the years between Pest kin and Tarnished are converted. Mid-20s seems an appropriate range for Moore.
Aaaannnd that's all I have for now! If you have different headcanons on sote npc ages, or npc headcanons in general, pls feel free to share! I love reading comments and seeing different (and similar) perspectives on Elden Ring characters!
Anyways, thanks for reading! This was a fun way to kill time lol >D
