Omega Speedmaster Blue Side of The Moon Aventurine Review

The venue was Basel and the year was 2018, when Omega chose to introduce the brand-new Speedy chronograph watch , sporting a beautiful Aventurine dial. Today, we'll review the watch in detail and tell you why it isn't an ordinary Speedy.

Although this isn't the first Blue Side of The Moon ever created, it is the most appealing according to my opinion. The image below will show you two different models in a row. On the left an aqua face, with a an sunray finish, while the other is the glimmering blue Aventurine.

Like the title implies, this model features the striking Blue Aventurine dial that sends the visual appeal that this dial has to a degree that is out of the world. The name is derived from the Italian word that means "Adventure" the dial is a common theme with those who look up to the stars and dream to one day join the growing number of people who are who are attempting exploring space.

The dial features a balanced and symmetrical appearance with a great balance of visual weight throughout. One feature that is sure to be noticed can be seen in the usage of 18kt Sedna gold accents on the dial, such as the textured moon inside the moonphase window , which has realistic miniature realism, luminescent central hands, luminescent hour markers on the index and the tiny hand-painted rose gold dials on sub-dials.

Another use for the pink gold color can be seen within the Ceragold(tm) (18kt Sedna gold-filled) Tachymetric scale on the blue ceramic bezel. The white-printed track for split-seconds and seconds wraps around the outside of the dial. It has white printed indices surrounding the sub-dial for the 12-hour chronograph at the 3 o'clock point and the date that has an integrated small running seconds sub-dial located at the 9 o'clock point. The date is displayed by a tiny hand that has the shape of a red crescent which encircles the date of the month.

The blue-colored strap is constructed of blue alligator with white stitching. It also is soft on the reverse of the strap, where you'll see red stitching. It has a strong and robust blue rubber pin-hole module (pictured below) to avoid wear and tear from the weakest areas of the strap.

Another stunning and beneficial aspect of this watch is the titanium push button deployant buckle, which is light practical, efficient, and time-saving.

The Apollo 8, a Speedmaster Moonphase Master Chronometer in blue ceramic with Aventurine dial and three variations of those in full platinum.
