When Esther is laying out her plans to Mick re: revenge plan B in episode 7, she calls Charles “the smiley one”. I’m pretty sure Charles is never smiley when he interacts with her. I’m imagining that this is what Monty calls him and she just uses his nickname.

Thomas:

- Honestly I think he would love to have a pet so he is instantly intrigued, albeit a little hesitant because he'd be adorably respectful of your pets space and wouldn't want to push his luck

- Very cute, bonds with your pet easily and is so gentle. He thinks you're both the cutest and finds it so sweet you bring them along everywhere

- Also very protective of you both! If his family makes comments (mostly Hoyt, Luda Mae and Monty like your pet, Luda thinks you're adorable and also likes seeing Thomas interact with them) he'll be very moody and defensive, and eventually the topic is off-limits to tease you about

Brahms:

- It's mentioned Brahms isn't good with animals if I remember right, so he might not be the best with your pet at first

- But since the pet is so important to you, he'll learn. He still might not be great around animals in general but he'll be friendly with yours

- I can see Brahms being a cat person once he gets used to them. He and your cat would end up with a mutual respect for each other lol like they both stay out of each other's ways, until they don't (and you walk in with your cat snuggled up next to him while he sleeps T-T)

Michael:

- Very indifferent, as usual. Really doesn't even notice, it's just one of the many things about you that he's a little intrigued by/finds endearing

- He isn't really the animal type normally but since you seem to care for your pet so much he'll just mostly ignore it

- One day you walk in on him petting your pet or them sitting on his lap when he thought you weren't around and he just freezes and stares at you lol

Jason:

- Thinks it's endearing. Won't easily interact with your animal because he's afraid he'll accidentally hurt them (even though he's gentle around you and your pet and could never)

- He already thinks you're the sweetest, but this only makes him adore you even more. You're so loving and caring and he can't help but watch you like :')

- Also very protective of your pet. Since you care so much about them he'll be so gentle and makes sure they're always safe and there isn't anything harmful around/they can't get lost

Bubba:

- Very sweet, as usual. He loves your pet right away. Similar to Jason, he might be a little hesitant at first but when he's comfortable he's the cutest

- 100% supportive of you bringing them everywhere with you because he gets attached too

- Also protective of your pet. Drayton is iffy about the whole thing (secretly loves your pet too though) but Bubba insists! If anything happened to your pet he'd also be heartbroken

Chop Top:

- Intrigued! He thinks you're very endearing right away and probably makes you smile with how curious he is about your pet

- Doesn't really notice that you bring them along with you everywhere admittedly? Or at least doesn't really think anything of it because why wouldn't you?

- He will get attached to your pet too but he isn't as easily affectionate as Bubba or Nubbins, mostly because he doesn't want to take from your time with your pet. But of course if that's ok he won't complain if you let him have a snuggle...🥺

Nubbins:

- Nubbins/your pet interactions are very cute. Asks lots of questions about them and is very gentle and sweet

- He can be very reckless/clumsy but he isn't with your pet. If it's a snuggly animal like a cat, he'll be just as attached as you. Lots of hugs and nuzzles :')

- And completely understands if you'd be emotional if something happened, he would be too

Bo:

- Will tease you, although he and his brothers have a shared dog and he really has no room to talk lol

- Not as good with animals as his brothers though, and really doesn't get the attachment (or so he says)

- 100% the type of person to insist you don't get pets/keep them around, only to be the one that is closest with your pet later on

Vincent:

- Constantly melts because of you and your pet. You couldn't be any sweeter to him and he loves you both a lot :')

- Happy if you bring it to his room/work area, and he makes sure any dangerous stuff is always put away when your pet is around. Very careful and attentive

- Will watch you interact with your pet with a huge smile, though of course sadly you won't even be able to tell (at least at first)

Lester:

- You probably catch his eye originally because of your bringing your pet along with you. He thinks it's the cutest and instantly goes off about his own dog, bonding with you because of it

- Also the type to be really upset if something happened to his pet so he understands. He'd get attached to yours quickly too and would be the same

- So cute though, introduces your pet to his own and you have a cute little family together :')

Luigi Largo:

- Oddly enough, I think despite his bad attitude he'd weirdly like pets, especially yours since you care so much about them

-...But it takes a while for this character development to transpire. He complains about it a lot at first, especially if you're bringing them along with you a lot

- In the end he'll bond with your pet a lot and it will make him feel a little more calm/comforted. Very protective of them and if anyone makes comments about you bringing them places he'll be very defensive

Pavi Largo:

- Treats your pet with so much love and respect that it always makes you smile. Like Chop Top he doesn't really notice you bringing them along with you everywhere, sees no reason not to

- Has a million nicknames for your pet and spoils them (and you) thoroughly lol

- Will also be shattered if anything happens to it because your pet is very much apart of your little family so he understands and is very protecting and attentive (he's also very rich so like your pet is getting nothing but the best lol)

Billy Lenz:

- Instantly takes to your pet. I feel like he'd be pretty good with animals, and understands and respects your attachment to your pet without question

- He'd end up having his own bond with your pet too. You want to take your pet with you when you go out? Um...He's going too then:)

- Probably not the most pet-friendly man ever admittedly, but if you insist, he'll just ignore it most of the time

When Lucy takes a job in a music producer's office, she wangles her new neighbor into a gig on a television show.

Guest Cast

Mel Tormé (Mel Tinker) was a musician nicknamed 'the velvet fog'.  He was best known as a singer of jazz standards. He was also a jazz composer and arranger, drummer, an actor in radio, film, and television, and the author of five books. He composed the music for "The Christmas Song" ("Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire") and co-wrote the lyrics with Bob Wells. He reprised the role of Mel Tinker in a two-part episode in season five. Tormé died in 1999 at the age of 73.  

Lou Krugman (Barney Miller) was born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1914. He made a memorable debut at Desilu as the ever-patient film director in “Lucy Gets Into Pictures” (ILL S4;18). After that episode was filmed, Lucy sent him a telegram telling him how impressed she was with his acting. She rewarded him with appearances in “The Great Train Robbery,” (ILL S5;E5) and the role of the Club Babalu’s Manager in “Lucy and Bob Hope” (ILL S6;E1) and “Lucy Meets Orson Welles” (ILL S6;E3). He previously appeared as the science teacher in “Lucy Takes Up Chemistry” (S1;E26) and will make one future appearance on the show.

Mr. Miller is an executive at Pop Records.

Reb Foster (Himself) was one of the most influential disc jockeys in Los Angeles during the sixties. He also managed the rock groups Steppenwolf, The Turtles, and Three Dog Night.

Twenty uncredited singers and dancers appear on the “Wing Ding” show.

Mr. Miller ask Lucy: “You think you can function in our mad mad mad mad world?”  This is a nod to one of the most successful comedies of 1964 It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The film featured quite a few actors who have (or will) appear on “Lucy” shows: Charles Lane, Ethel Merman, Milton Berle, Buddy Hackett, Dick Shawn, Phil Silvers, Edie Adams, Alan Carney, Lloyd Corrigan, Edward Everett Horton, Roy Roberts, Jack Benny, Allen Jenkins, Monty O'Grady, Barbara Pepper, and Elliott Reid.  

While taking shorthand, Lucy says she is simultaneously writing a letter to her aunt who lives in Schenectady.  

Mel Tormé wrote and performed the original songs "Whatever Happened to the Moon?" and (with Lucy) "My Trousseau Just Lies on the Shelf.”

My trousseau just lies on the shelf Since his surfboard came back by itself. My tears drown my heart with emotion Since my dropout dropped into the ocean. He said that I bugged him when I say things to him Like don't learn to surf 'Til 'ya learn how to swim.

“Wing Ding” is hosted by Reb Foster and presents: 

The Six Bare Feet (three barefoot boys); 

The Torch Bearers (three girls in beehives); 

and the DDTs (four boys with hair over their eyes playing guitars). Reb says that the DDT's will “do away with the Beatles.”  Their look is clearly a satire on the Beatles.  Their verse of “Wing Ding” mentions 007, aka Ian Fleming's spy character James Bond.  When this episode was filmed Goldfinger was about to be released in London. By the time it aired, the film was in release in the US.  

“Wing Ding” has a sponsor named Mr. Thornton who lives in San Francisco.

“He Wears a Hubcap for a Halo” - about a teenage girl whose boyfriend got run over by a police car.

“I've Got Tears in My Ears from Lying on My Back in My Bed While I'm Crying Over You”

Lucy says she has a knack for knowing what teenagers want to listen to because she was a teenager for seven whole years. Lucy would have been a teenager between 1924 and 1931, forty years ago. She neglects to mention that she is currently the mother of a music-mad teenage girl (Chris).  

When one of The Six Bare Feet drops a saxophone on his toes, Lucy looks for a replacement act but the Heartaches are in Vegas, the Weeping Willows are in Miami, the Four Sob Sisters are in Fresno, and the Cry Babies are in Oakland. Lucy suggest that she and Mel form an act called The Tear Ducts.

Callback!

Lucy also acted as talent scout for a musical TV show in “Lucy and the Plumber” (S3;E2) where she discovers Beauty the dog and then Harry Tuttle, a virtuoso violinist and plumber.

Blooper Alert!

Since Mel Tinker lives next door to Lucy in her Los Angeles complex, his apartment is simply Lucy's re-dressed.  It is odd, however, that a full sized motorcycle could be taken up to the second floor.  The bike is a 1962 Honda Dream.  

When Lucy is reading the album covers, they clearly have her lines of dialogue describing the songs taped to the back.  The second album has no cover art at all.
