had meant to do it exactly the one year later mark, but i blinked and suddenly april was may was june -- so ended up being more like a year and 1.5 months lol

May 11th, 2024 vs. April 6th, 2023

its so funny seeing them nest to each other now, but i remember when i finished the first version last year, i was so proud to have finally made a proper 'finished' piece.

like, yall, i struggled for years to every be able to create a piece i would ever call close to 'done'. part of that is me being a very knit-picky kinda person, and wanted to continue to tweak everything all of the time forever, but on top of that i also do work slow af, and before last year i didnt really have access to any digital media. and i love traditional mediums, but im defintiely not practiced enough to be able to get the results i was looking for with any sort of speed. like im genuinely not sure i created a single 'finished' work in my life -- not in school, not in work, not even in the free space of silly fandom doodles.

and then this piece happened!

and i knew even then that it was messy and rough af, but it had a background!! and color!! sure, the linework wasnt polished at all but still, for a silly little fanart? it was defined enough to distinguish the separate characters, and read expressions! there was even a little tiny bit of lighting!! i hate lighting!!

seeing the two versions side by side honestly i kinda have to laugh at how Rough the first version looks now. but you know what. im still so so proud of it. the colors are muddy, theres no shift in value; their clothing designs arent at all defined, leos teeth look weird af and theres lines on caseys face that are definitely from me accidentally dragging my fingers across the tablet when i didnt mean to but like. its there! its finished! i did it!

idk. ive never had a piece ive ever wanted to hang on my own fridge before. :)

Undertale Month Day 30: The End/Surface/Respite

The coloring and everything are a bit messy, but I wanted to finish off the month with something nice. :) Undertale is a game that is so important to me. Not only did it encourage me to draw more things outside my comfort zone, but it's also been a huge comfort for me ever since I first played it. I feel like I would be a completely different person if I hadn't stumbled upon it a little over six years ago. All this to say, I don't think I'll ever stop caring about this silly little game, and I'm really glad it exists. :)

Nobody on the QSMP was immune to Fit's voice, but Baghera's reaction to it still makes me laugh a lot (especially because Ramon called her out on it).

Fit: Alright, so then here we have like the television area and like, the sofa...

Baghera: [After a brief pause] Sorry! Ok! It's- it- it- it's real– [Laughs] It's minimalist, but I- I like it!

Fit: And then here's Ramon in front of his house...

Baghera: He seems very polite in this picture.

Fit: Yes [Laughs] Yes, he's very... less-violent in that picture. [...] So, I'll take you to the library– this way. Right, over here, just alley- [...] So this is like the library, it's not finished yet, but we're working on it. Um.

Baghera: Ok, it's really– [Laughs]

Fit: [Laughs] Oh yeah, watch your step, Pomme. Alright.

Baghera: [Gestures at the camera silently]

Baghera: I dunno! Maybe just cats.

Fit: Oh, maybe. [Laughs] Maybe a cat's– yeah. No dogs, just cats.

Ramon: wait, you like fit voice?

Baghera: Uh, Ramon– Yeah, yeah! He got a really nice voice. You do.

Fit: Oh, thank you. Thank you, thank you. Um, Ramon– don't embarrass me. [He accidentally hits Ramon] Hey, no– Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean– I'm not– I did not mean to do that, Ramon! That was an accident, I–

Ramon: [Climbs down the ladder and runs away]

Fit: Ramon! I did not– No, Ramon!

Baghera: [Laughs] Are you ok?

Baghera: [To chat, in French] Damn– you guys are bastards! Ramon is a snitch! Pomme, Ramon is a snitch! I- I don't have problems with snitches, but he's a snitch!

TV Shows & Movies: Movie Mondays [Wyrd & Wonder 2023 Day 29]

Day 29 of Wyrd & Wonder is all about Destiny and Fate and when I thought of this, I immediately thought of Lord of the Rings because that classic Heros Journey is all about fate and destiny.
