Montgomeryshire Yeomanry, most likely before the war, but still close enough to give suggestions about organization and unit characteristics.

So I made Pride versions of the flags of the 13 Historic Counties of Wales:
Tumblr media
This is the map of Wales with each county flag edited with pride colours! The palette I used was the final Gilbert Baker pride flag which he created before he died. Just for fun and these are free to use with credit.

(Note: several flags are proposed flags, since some counties have not registered official flags yet)
Column 1: Glamorganshire, Cardiganshire, Merionethshire, Montgomeryshire
Column 2: Monmouthshire, Caernarfonshire, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Radnorshire
Column 3: Ynys Môn, Flintshire, Brecknockshire, Denbighshire

Commission* of a very damp osprey for @jediofbooksandsnacks, who shares a love of the no brain, only swoop fish eaters too.  ---
*Half of the money of this comm goes to the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust. They run The Dyfi Osprey Project, who help further the recovery of the UK osprey population.

‘Bron-Yr-Aur’ demo’s — recorded at Bron-Yr-Aur cottage, Spring 1970
‘Bron-Yr-Aur’ got its official release on 24 February 1975 as part of the Physical Graffiti double album. But as we know, its origins can be traced way back to spring 1970, when after an exhausting tour of the US, Page and Plant retreated to a small 18th-century cottage on the outskirts of Machynlleth, in Montgomeryshire, mid-Wales. The cottage’s name is Welsh for “breast of the gold” or “golden hill”.
These demo’s document the track’s first days of life, and are a wonderful time machine back to easier days. The first demo “Acoustic Jam” is particularly dear to me as the laughter of a child – most likely Robert and Maureen Plant’s then 18-month-old baby daughter, Carmen – can be heard throughout the recording, with chatting voices and Plant’s singing also making brief appearances above the acoustic guitar’s gentle melody.

Sose volt ilyen erős verseny, de megkockáztatom, hogy ez az elmúlt öt év tory idiotizmusai közül benne van a top tízben, mert:
1, a pitiánersét
2, az időzítés
3, a pofátlanság, hogy még annyi sincs benne, hogy megkérje egy haverját
Mindez együtt teszi tökéletes példává az esetet.

Brian E. Jones.  Winter, Gregynog
Gregynog is a large country mansion in the village of Tregynon, 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Newtown in the old county of Montgomeryshire, now Powys in mid Wales. There has been a settlement on the site since the twelfth century. From the fifteenth to the nineteenth century it was the home of the Blayney and Hanbury-Tracy families. In 1960 it was transferred to the University of Wales as a conference and study centre by Margaret Davies, granddaughter of the nineteenth century industrial magnate and philanthropist, David Davies 'Top Sawyer' of Llandinam.

Sir John Pryce and his Wives. Guest post by Elaine Thornton
I am delighted to welcome back to All Things Georgian, Elaine Thornton, whose story today couldn’t be more different to her last piece ‘Fine Dining: Etiquette at the Georgian Table.’  This is a fascinating, if arguably rather macabre. The Anglo-Welsh Pryce baronetcy was created in 1628 by Charles I for John Pryce, a wealthy landowner of Newtown Hall in Montgomeryshire (now Powys). Pryce survived…

A History of Paddy's Run Ohio
On June 29, 1801, William and Morgan Gwilym purchased land at the Cincinnati Land Office in what is now Morgan Township, laying the foundation for Ohio’s first Welsh settlement. The Welsh had initially settled in Pennsylvania in the late 18th century but moved westward, establishing themselves here in 1802. This area became a major destination for the 1818 migration from Montgomeryshire and…

New design updates and imperfect prints on sale
Bore da pawb! In order to help support myself I've been working away at several new print designs I hope you will enjoy (available here with international shipping to the UK, US, Canada and EU).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First up are the county arms of Wales' 13 historic counties (original and pride editions!). Many of the references I was working from were dated and scuffed, so I have reproduced them here in high quality (in Merionethshire's case I had to reconstruct the sun and wave elements by hand). Some of the arms resemble the county flags, but many do not, which was fun to find out when creating these designs! Pembrokeshire's arms are my absolute favourite, really brings some Maryland flag energy to the Welsh counties.

Next up are the historic county flags of Wales (as featured on my map of Wales print). I've neatened up a few of the county flag designs (such as the nag's heads in Montgomeryshire's flag and the eagles in Caernarfonshire's flag). Glamorganshire's county flag resembles its coat of arms somewhat, while Montgomeryshire swaps its lions for horses in the county flag.

Alongside the lesbian Cardiff flag I will also be selling bisexual, pride, trans and intersex versions! You may have seen the bisexual, pride and trans versions before on my tumblr, but the intersex version is hot off the press!
All these new print designs will be available here starting from the 8th of October 2024. But if you'd like to get your hands on the historic county flags pride edition early, I currently have a few misprints of the design (and of some of my other existing designs) available here discounted. In all cases some of the text is too close to the edge of the print. All are still legible, but imperfect so I am offering them up at a cheaper rate!

If you like these designs please consider getting a print to help support me as a queer trans creative! Reblogs are much appreciated too.
Diolch!
