Life was hard. That was a fact.
Bills and groceries didn’t pay for themselves. That was also a fact.
Adding these two factors together, the final product will be a high-risk job in one of the highest-risk places on Earth. That’s… not a fact.
And yet, here you are, standing at the visitor entrance of Las Almas Prison, sporting a disgruntled grimace and a new pair of black slacks that you’d splurged on. They, at least, made your ass look good, although that was truly the least of your worries.
No. Your current list of worries looked something like this;
Getting Murdered
Getting Attacked
Vomiting Within The First Five Minutes Of Your New Job?
…Yeah. Something like that.
The early morning sun is blinding where it sits, just off to the side of the giant concrete building that was the main offices and Visitor Centre. The fact that you were standing in front of what was only a small part of the overall prison grounds was… alarming.
You were well aware that this was the largest prison in your country, housing the most lethal and awful of criminals. Some you’d seen either on the news, or heard of in passing conversations.
This was the real deal. And, somehow, you’d managed to find yourself being hired to work here. You. Work with serial killers. The worst of the worst.
With the stress on your bank account, and the endless struggle that was trying to find a stable career in the current job market, you simply had no other choice but to accept the offer. It paid extremely well, had great benefits, and your safety was… fairly considered.
The amount of NDAs, liability clauses and agreements, however?
Not the best at calming your nerves, to say the least.
The biting chill of the winter wind has you wrapping your arms around yourself, leather bag slung over your shoulder as you finally step through the automatic sliding door.
You’re not surprised to find that the chill only deepens inside the concrete walls of the building, with no heaters or air conditioning from what you can see. There is, however, bright white overhead lights that do nothing except aid the throbbing in the side of your head – probably due to the restless sleep you’d had the night before, anticipation and anxiety warring inside of your thoughts.
There’s an office in front of you as you step in, with only a few decades-old couches to your right, in front of a dingy TV that’s turned off. Saving their budget for more important things, you suppose.
The walls are a pale, grimy yellow, with sparse photos hung about, framing newspaper articles that are surely from the last century, and black and white pictures of the prison’s opening.
It’s an unsettling place, that much you’ve already gathered.
You haven’t even actually been inside the prison, you remind yourself, your stomach churning where it now lays at your feet.
Without a second thought, you continue with hurried steps to the front desk, where scratched plastic encases the sole woman inside, sitting behind a monitor. There’s a circle of holes that allow for sound to pass through, but other than that, there’s no way of entering from this room. With a quick study of your surroundings, you see a steel door to the left of where the desk sits, with a small square window covered in iron bars.
…Jesus christ.
“Can I help you?” The woman drawls, sliding her glasses further up her nose. Her voice is nasally, and the words come out in a slow drawl as she looks you up and down, unimpressed.
You give her your best smile, although even you can tell that it’s an uneasy one. “Yes! This is my first day, I think I’m supposed to be meeting Kate Laswell?” You ask, nerves betraying your voice with unsteady breaths.
The woman snaps her gum.
You stand there.
She blows it again.
You continue to stand there.
Her gaze is bored and completely void of any thought, before she nods slowly. “Laswell… I’ll call her.”
Really, you couldn’t be more shocked if you tried. What the fuck was happening? How could one lack so much… professionalism?
“Hi, Kate. Yes, it’s Jenny. I have a new hire who apparently wants to see you…” Her voice remains that unbearably slow, sloth-like delivery, before her eyes unhurriedly meet yours again. “What’s your name…?”
You give it to her, tone only the slightest bit impatient as you roll back on the heels of your feet. You can only hope that your black boots are appropriate; you’d figured that they were safe, closed-toe and still somewhat professional.
Time would tell. Jenny was giving you the impression that they were more than acceptable, because at least they got you to do your job in a timely manner.
Jenny says a few more words to who can only pray is Laswell on the other end of the phone, before she places it back in its holder.
“Laswell will be here any…” She pops her gum once more, and maybe, just maybe, you can understand the urge to murder. “Moment.”
You give her a tight, painful smile. “Thank you, Jenny.”
She doesn’t respond, and you decide to just stand back and wait. You certainly weren’t complaining – any more conversation with her would’ve ended with a severe lack of hair on your head.
A minute passes, before a buzz in the pocket of your slacks has your throat tightening.
Pulling out your phone, your next exhale comes out shaky as you read the text.
Charlie: get milk otw home used it all
No ‘good luck’. No… ounce of care for you, or the absolute stress that comes with a new job, let alone one like this.
When you’d told him about the offer, all he’d said was, “It might make you worth something for a change.” Didn’t even question, not for a minute, the risks that came with a job like this. He simply couldn’t give less of a fuck.
“Doctor?” The sound of a door opening, and the kind, almost motherly tone of the voice has you shoving your phone into your pocket once more as you turn to the source of the sound.
It’s a woman, her hair pulled back into a slick bun, one hand holding what seems to be a clipboard. Her other hand rests in the pocket of a white coat, not unlike one a scientist would be fashioning in a lab. Her smile is warm, the corner of her eyes crinkling as you direct a smile of your own her way.
“Kate Laswell?” You ask, extending your hand for her to shake. Taking her hand out of her pocket, she accepts it gracefully, nodding her head.
“The one and only,” she says, before gesturing to the steel door she’d entered through. “Now, today we’ll get you set up with a keycard, general rules, and I’ll have you meet two of your patients.”
You nod, following her as she swipes a card in a black reader, before the red light buzzes green, and she pulls the door open. Right behind her, you take an unstable deep breath as you take in the greyed, jagged walls, a complete contrast to the painted ones of the entrance room.
“We really are so glad to welcome you to our team,” she continues, her black work shoes clicking against the smooth concrete flooring. She doesn’t turn to you as she speaks, but her voice carries around the echoey hallway. “You’ll make a great addition. A necessary one, also. We’ve needed an innovative, young therapist for a while. Most of our… previous hires have held out-dated beliefs, and a lack of humanity for their clientele.”
That makes your brows furrow in confusion. “That’s… odd,” you murmur, before pausing your steps as Laswell stops, swiping her keycard, before entering another room.
As you step into the newly revealed space, your eyes go wide as you take it in.
It’s a wide, large space, with several floors. Metal staircases sit at either end of the vast space, allowing access to every floor. Guards sit at every level, some walking around the space where you and Laswell stand.
It’s a lot, all at once. You’d never even stepped foot into a prison – not before now.
“Most inmates are at the mess for breakfast,” Laswell supplies, turning to you with a neutral expression. She gestures for you to follow her back out of the space, and you do with hurried steps. “The ones you’ll be dealing with, however… they usually eat by themselves.”
You don’t decide to push that statement, not now, as you continue to follow her down the hallway.
“You won’t be seeing much of the prison,” she admits. “There’s heavily guarded spaces on the top floor for your sessions, both for your protection and for the safety of our staff and other low-risk inmates.”
You nod, humming a sound of affirmation as the two of you start heading up the cleaner steps at the end of the hallway. The staff staircase, you suppose.
“Today, you’ll be meeting two of our more… understanding ambers.”
You raise a brow. “Ambers? What does that mean?”
She turns her head over her shoulder, just enough to shoot you a knowing look. “Ambers are our highest-risk inmates. We house ten of them, and you’ll be dealing with eight as per your contract.”
Your stomach falls. You’d known, of course, that the risks were high when applying for this role. But… this was more than you’d imagined, in a way. Ambers. Huh.
Silence falls over the two of you as you make your way up the never-ending steps, no windows in sight. It’s unnerving, in a creepy, strange way. When you finally reach the top, you try and hide how out of breath you are from that small exertion.
Fucking christ.
Laswell, for her part, looks completely fine in an effortless way. You can’t eve find it in yourself to be envious. The feeling’s closer to admiration.
“Here’s the files on them both. You’ll be seeing Kyle Garrick first,” she hands you the clipboard she’d been carrying, and you accept it with only a slight tremble. She doesn’t comment on it, and you find yourself warming up to her already. “They’ll be restrained, and there is heavy security, so you needn’t worry about that side of things.”
“Thank you, ma’am,” you say earnestly, flipping through the files without reading much of anything, not yet.
She waves you off with a soft chuckle. “None of that. Kate’s more than fine,” she insists, and you give her a bright smile in return. Maybe this job wouldn’t be so bad – a boss like this was much better than a creepy middle-aged man any day of the week.
You don’t realise you’ve made it to a small room until she stops walking, scanning her keycard and pushing the door open, gesturing you in. “While you have your first two sessions, I’ll sort your keycard and the rest of the processes out. I wish you luck.”
With that, the door shuts behind you, and you’re alone in a small room.
It matches the rest of the hallways you’ve seen – grey concrete walls, grey concrete floors. The only furniture, however, is one metal table drilled into the floor in the centre, one chair on either side.
…It’s depressing. Not at all like you’d prefer, not for a fucking therapy session, but then again, you hadn’t met your clients yet.
Ambers. High-risk.
With a deep breath, you take a seat at the chair closest to you, finally reading through the top file on the clipboard.
Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick.
You skim over the height, weight, sex – immediately reading the comments made and his sentence.
Mass murderer. Motivated attacks.
Your eyes go wide, almost comically so, as you bite at your lip, folding one leg over the other as you continue to read.
Of course, you’d prepared, been made aware that you’d be dealing with murderers. But having it in black and white, right in front of you, is a whole other thing entirely.
Apparently, they were motivated attacks. Targets being large CEOs, specifically those with reported claims of misuse of power, and those against green laws. Anti-environment types.
The motive is… you’re aware killing is bad. You hadn’t spent years studying for a degree in Psychology to think otherwise. But it wasn’t as simple as some made it out to be. You’d done papers suggesting that certain motives implied healthier patterns, healthier outlets.
If you had to choose between him killing pregnant women, and CEOs with broken moral compasses?
It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out your answer.
You’re about to flip the page when there’s a knock on the door on the other side of the room, before it opens.
There’s two guards that walk in, before a man in an olive green jumpsuit follows, hands cuffed tightly together in front of him, head down. Another guard from behind shoves him in, too rough for your liking. You sit up straighter, eyes assessing as you take in the man in the jumpsuit.
He’s forced into the chair opposite you, before one of the guards grabs his cuffed wrists and chains them to a rig in the middle of the table. You’re grateful for the precautions, but there’s a part of you that feels guilty watching the manhandling of the seemingly calm man.
“Half an hour,” the most brutish guard of them all grits out, beer belly spilling out over his belted jeans. He jostles the chain attaching his wrists to the table unnecessarily, and your eyes narrow.
He goes to leave, along with another guard, but one stands to stay in position inside, beside the door.
Your brows furrow, and you speak up before you can stop yourself. “Sorry, sir, but my sessions will need confidentiality, as for the best results. I’m sure that I’ll be safe with his restraints.”
The guard stares you down, seemingly mulling your words over, before shrugging and leaving the room, door shutting behind him.
…Huh. Alright.
You find your posture relaxing, just slightly, which is odd, considering you’re now only a metre or two away from a convicted murderer.
His gaze is trained to the table, left foot tapping incessantly against the concrete floor.
“It’s nice to meet you, Gaz,” you say with a soft tone and a gentle smile. You figure that his nickname is the best bet, not wanting to stir up any possible traumas with his given name during your first session with the man. “I’ll be your new psychiatric evaluator.”
His eyes flick up, meeting yours, and he nods slowly, as if awaiting a punchline.
“Is it okay for me to call you Gaz?” You ask, tilting your head to the side and flipping to an empty page to take notes on. You’d need to grab a notebook from home, you decide.
He relaxes, only the smallest of movements, and he nods. “Gaz, yeah.”
Your smile widens at the small victory. Any step towards progress was a huge one, in your eyes. You’d be facing a lot of them in the coming days.
“Do you have any advice for this place?” You push, trying to form a bond of trust with the dark-haired man. “I’m gonna be honest, you’re my first patient, and I’ve only met Laswell and… Jenny?”
His mouth quirks at that, a dimple showing to the left of his mouth as he looks back up at you. “Jenny’s a character, ain’t she?”
You laugh, a genuine one, and nod. “She certainly is. You’ve met her?”
He shrugs, shoulders relaxing slightly. “Few times, yeah. She drives me up the fuckin’ wall.” His accent is only minimally apparent, but his voice is of a somewhat humorous tone.
Small victories.
“Well,” he exhales, settling into his chair a bit as he seems to ponder. “Do ya know who else you’re assigned to?”
You’d been sure to thoroughly go over your contract, and you were allowed to disclose your other patients between your others. They’d find out within the day, anyways, so there was no point in being discreet.
“It’s only you and a… John Price? Today. I’m sure I’ll find out the other six over the next few days,” you say, appreciating that he’s starting conversations. It’s more than you’d allowed yourself to hope for.
Gaz’s eyes light up, and even if you hadn’t been incessant in watching him, it’d be an obvious shift in emotions. “Price?”
You nod, quickly making a note on your clipboard, before folding your hands in your lap as you gesture for him to continue with a quick inclination of your head.
“He’s the best. Man’s a legend,” he enthuses. “Love ‘im.”
There’s… a hidden truth to that statement, that you make a mental note to unpack during a later session. Your smile is a natural one as you say, “He’s an amber, correct? Laswell told me I’d been assigned eight out of ten ambers… you’re one of them, right?”
Gaz seems to fold into himself, and you kick yourself for going back to square one. He answers, however.
“...Yeah. Only Ghost ‘nd Valeria are aggressive, though. We’re just… misunderstood,” he murmurs, and in the back of your brain, you find yourself believing his words.
“Thank you,” you smile, and he responds with a sharp one of his own. Maybe you’d covered more ground than you’d expected. “I think it’d been mentioned that I was only assigned men, due to the nature of the job, or something like that.”
Seeming to mull over your words, he starts to slowly nod. “Sounds ‘bout right. As long as you don’t get Graves, you’ll be alright. The others are… fuckin’ weird, but they’re good men. Mostly.”
That’s a lot of information at once, and quite frankly, it takes a moment for you to process.
“‘Good men’. What do you think it takes to be a good man?” You ask, curiosity laced into your tone. Getting to ask such questions of a convicted murderer, it’s a thrilling, exhilarating task.
His eyes don’t shift as he replies. “Good men do the acts others are too scared to do. They see the evil in the world, and rid of it with their own bare hands. You can be an ethical murderer, Doc.”
Those words, they’re – they’re authentic, and conviction aches in their structure.
You swallow around a dry mouth.
“You think you’re a good man?” You ask.
His smile would be seen as warm to any who weren’t aware of his acts, but to you – it’s chilling. Haunting in a way you’ve never experienced.
It remains as he answers.
“I think that I’m a man who people wish they had the bravery to be.”

Know About Medical Radiation Detection, Monitoring & Safety
The largest amount of radiation to which medical personnel are exposed comes through fluoroscopic processes. However, radiation from computed tomography, mammography, and nuclear imaging does not significantly contribute to the general knowledge of healthcare practitioners.
However, radiation exposure poses a risk to both patients and healthcare workers. To lessen the harmful effects of ionizing radiation, radiation safety focuses on avoiding any unnecessary radiation exposure.
Tumblr media
The global demand for medical radiation detection, monitoring, & safety is predicted to reach $4,373.8 million by 2030. The demand is anticipated to be driven by the high prevalence of cancer, the surging geriatric population, the rising count of nuclear and radio diagnostic and therapeutic operations, and the number of diagnostic imaging facilities.
The medical industry is one of several fields where radiation power has been used for people's good. Patients benefit greatly from the proper use of radiation for better diagnosis and treatment.
It is now a crucial component of contemporary medical care, particularly for cancer treatment. In the ever-evolving modern medical environment, radiation protection for physicians, other healthcare personnel, and patients is always changing.
Many hospitals and diagnostic facilities use radiation-producing technology, including X-ray machines and diffraction equipment. Many deals with radiation exposure risks associated with rigorous treatment techniques.
According to the American Cancer Society, heart disease remains the leading cause of mortality in the U.S., although cancer remains a close second. By the end of 2022, it is predicted that there will be 1.9 million new cancer diagnoses and 609,360 cancer-related fatalities in the U.S., or nearly 1,670 deaths each day.
People working in radioactive environments should be properly attired in accordance with the code and install sensors at appropriate locations in order to monitor, detect, and avoid direct exposure to dangerous radioactive elements, as radiation cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Medical radiation detection, monitoring, and safety technologies give healthcare workers and patients the necessary protection from radiation exposure, providing a safe environment or therapy with few dangers.
The need for safety equipment is rising as people become more aware of the negative impacts of a radiation-prone environment. Additionally, it is now a component of contemporary medical care. The use of the systems should adhere to their functional constraints and design guidelines.

yandere hcs ; vincent phantomhive
Tumblr media
requested by ; nobody / self indulgent
fandom(s) ; black butler
fandom masterlist(s) ; hub | specific
character(s) ; vincent phantomhive
outline ; “general yandere hcs for vincent”
warning(s) ; yandere!vincent phantomhive, obsessive behaviour, stalking, social isolation, mental manipulation, murder, possessiveness
there are a number of reasons as to why vincent is a person who is practically impossible to avoid or escape from once he has you in his sights — of course there’s the obvious point about him being an earl with ties to people all across europe and within the different classes of england itself, but there’s also his close association with the criminal underground which means that he’s not afraid to be underhanded and ‘cheat’ in order to have you completely under his control without even the slightest chance of you getting away
after you first catch his eye, vincent has some of his staff sent out to stalk monitor you and make notes of everything they notice about you and your lifestyle (your daily routine, where you live, where you work, who you associate with, what you tend to buy at the market, and so on) — he assures everyone involved that he’s doing this for your safety, that you’re a potential target in one of the cases he’s working on for the queen, but in reality it’s just to sate his own curiosity and ensure that he’ll be able to effortlessly woo you when he’s finally worked up the nerve to properly court you
and once he finally does go about courting you, rest assured that it’s nothing short of romantic — a ‘chance’ meeting at your favourite restaurant, perceived love at first sight as he makes a show of being flustered by your appearance, an offer to buy your order for you (and ‘coincidentally’ ordering your favourite meal himself), a lively conversation that leaves you feeling giddy and flustered and understood, and a promise to meet later on with a chaperone to properly begin your courtship (a meeting which, of course, goes perfectly as your loved ones were all too happy to set you up with an earl of all people)
he sweeps you off of your feet and only a few short months later you’re wed and settling into your new home at the main phantomhive estate — too caught up with all of these grand displays of affection and the piles upon piles of lavish gifts bought with you in mind to even so much as consider the peculiarity of your courtship with vincent
… or why your contact with your loved ones becomes more and more sporadic after your wedding day, which would have been much more concerning had vincent not oh-so-lovingly reassured you that there was probably just some issue with the post and they’d get back to you eventually
of course they never did, but by then you were too caught up in all of your new responsibilities as the earl’s spouse to think about that
vincent doesn’t have to do much to keep you under his thumb and away from any potential threats to your relationship — between your new role keeping you tightly combined to the domestic sphere of the estate, the deadly loyalty to his staff who report your movements back to him even when he’s away from home all day, his own endless love bombing that keeps you wholly devoted to him and lacking the desire to flee, and his influence that allows him to slowly sever and cut off your contact with the outside world, there’s really no fear at all from him that you’ll be able to leave him (or, frankly, that you’d ever even attempt to do so)
then again one can never be too cautious in his line of work, which is why your doting personal staff were all handpicked by him and trained by mr tanaka to be both willing and capable of laying down their lives for you if the manor were attacked, and deeply loyal to him as their master (or, at least loyal enough to report anything suspicious to him at the earliest possible moment and to be willing to chase and restrain you if you ever tried to flee the estate)
as one might expect this was a lengthy hiring process, but the four people that made it through to the other side are all highly paid and more than worth the money and responsibilities that come with it as far as he’s concerned
within two years of your marriage you’ll have been completely cut off from the outside world — your only company comes from your beloved husband and those he approves of (namely his family, certain members of staff, and his dearest friends within the a.o.e)
that being said, vincent still allows you to accompany him when he goes out to balls and galas, or just to meet up with a friend — he has no qualms with showing you off and publicly staking his claim on you as his partner, but he’s also dangerously possessive and has been known to personally track down anyone who gets a bit too friendly with you for his taste in order to ‘deal with them’
… he kills them.
quite violently too
and you can only clean up so much blood…
thank goodness for the immunity granted to him by the queen after he became her guard dog
but of course you never see or hear about any of this, being kept completely in the dark about everything your husband does and everything your husband is so that you maintain your positive perception of him (charming, generous, loving, affectionate, etc.)
and if you eventually do catch on and see vincent for who he truly is?
well…
even then there’s no getting away
because by then it’s much too late and he’s already become so entangled in you and your life that without him you have literally nothing left — and that’s not even mentioning the staff who are trained to kill and who would have no problem with dragging you back into the estate if you tried to make a break for it
you’re his and he is yours, ‘til death do you part, so hopefully you enjoy your life locked up in your golden cage

F1 and Biometrics
Biometric gloves came into play in F1 in 2018 to give medical teams immediate access to important information regarding driver conditions after an incident. It allows for vitals to be measured before, at the time of an incident and after the crash until they are rescued and more advanced monitoring is able to be applied. It is also a big help if a driver is involved in a crash that means they are not accessible straight away or cannot be visualized for monitoring so this allows teams to get immediate access to this information.
According to the FIA website, this was a difficulty by medical teams when Carlos Sainz crashed in the 2015 Russian GP where he hit the barrier head-on at 153km/h (roughly 95mph). The first row of the barrier was resting on top of him, so medical teams had to wait for this to be removed before they had access to him. Thankfully he wasn’t hurt during this crash, but medical teams didn’t know this initially as this technology wasn’t available and being used.
The sensors were basically made custom to F1 drivers. Regular sensors had not been fire tested and were not comfortable enough for the drivers to wear for long races. They use Bluetooth technology and can send data within a 500m and are powered by a small battery that drivers charge before races.
Drivers gloves have a 3mm sensor that is stitched into the palm of the fabric and monitors their vital signs during races. They measure pulse oximetry which measures the amount of oxygen being carried in the blood as well as drivers pulse rates. Obviously if a driver has an injury that is affecting their breathing, this will show in the saturations that would decline rapidly. Having this technology allows physiological readings and biometrics to be continuously monitored throughout the race from start to finish. Data from the sensor transmits to an iPhone app and gives medical crews remote and advance information on the driver’s condition. The small biometric readers are flexible and fire resistant up to 1,800 degrees Celsius (3,272 degrees Fahrenheit) for 22 seconds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the future there are even plans to implement sensors for respiratory rate and temperature to further monitor drivers which will not only enhance safety features but allow teams and drivers to monitor performance better.
OMP, an equipment supplier, has been developing wearable biometric monitoring systems since the introduction of the biometric sensors in 2019. An undershirt equipped with sensors and a measurement unit would transmit and record biometric data allowing for real-time monitoring of health through ECG and thoracic expansion. This would allow monitoring of drivers heart rhythms and breathing rate which would not only benefit medical teams in the case of an incident but also help identify stress, fatigue and any alteration in conditions. This would be useful considering the amount of stress drivers have been put through in the past in hot countries for example Saudi Arabia GP 2023 when many drivers retired, had to be taken to medical, threw up in their helmets or passed out after the race.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TV crews can also display biometric data during broadcasts to show the physical condition of a driver as they battle on track. However, there have been questions about the ethics and use of biometrics and why can’t we as an audience see drivers heart rates etc on screen if this data is being constantly collected. The FIA has strict guidelines about the use of raw biometric data. Section 2.4 of the FIA Guidelines for the Collection and Usage of Biometric Data in Motorsport, states that the use of biometric data can be used for more than just medical and performance monitoring and can be used for entertainment and marketing purposes but only if it is changed from raw data into a variable to protect the private health information of the driver. The FIA won’t allow the use of biometric data to be publicly available in the original form/ measurement unless the driver provides informed consent.
Essentially, driver onboard vitals are likely not to be available live due to strict laws on data protection and sharing health related information about drivers as it is protected health information. In the case of an accident or emergency, data is not allowed to be used even if the information is changed to protect the driver unless it is for medical and rescue use and post-accident information.

This also led me down a rabbit hole and found another study (it was anonymous but if you’re a sleuth you can probably take a guess at what F1 driver it was) where they monitored his heart rate during qualifying to see what his average was throughout the race to test the cardiovascular strain F1 drivers are put under!

Note
Honestly, I don't feel like being done for swearing in press conferences is a big deal, and is being blown up by conflating it with other scenarios.
No, I don't think drivers should be penalised for swearing whilst they're concentrating on racing other people at high speeds. No, I don't think they should be penalised for swearing when Sky grunt 362 swings an overhead microphone over a conversation they're having with another driver. No, I don't think they should be penalised for swearing whilst Netflix are stalking them around the paddock (for a TV show rated 15 in the UK).
However, I don't think it's unreasonable for the FIA to say, "here is a press conference you are requires to do as part of your job. All you have to do is answer the questions clearly and keep the language broadcastable." It just doesn't seem like a hard or undue ask.
I totally agree that's it's being conflated with other scenarios and that's it's not unreasonable to ask them to monitor themselves when they are calmly speaking to the media.
What's annoying is that's not what Ben Sulayem complained about. He complained about race radios, and what followed made him look like a childish tyrant who got pissed that the general feedback to his comment was that it's absurd and unnecessary and he took the first occasion to assert his authority like "oh you think you can discuss my orders well no" and said first occasion didn't even match the situation he was talking about in the first place so you're kinda left wondering if the point is truly language or his now trademark all-powerful authority fantasy.
(The whole thing is made worse by the fact that it's not the first time that he pops up out of nowhere making up or trying to enforce rules about ridiculous and over-controlling stuff and by the fact that he seems to only pop up for that and nothing ever remotely actually relevant for the sport.)
Also the punishment went from 0 to 100 really quick. Ben Sulayem complaining about language to the media isn't exactly the same thing as the FIA taking a stance on it because despite what he seems to think Ben Sulayem ISN'T The FIA all by himself. You'd think they'd start by officially taking a stance about it and stating they would now expect the drivers to not swear during press con (which again isn't the same thing as what Ben Sulayem was saying anyway) and then issue warnings for the first weekend and then MAYBE start with some punishment if it keeps happening but even then I'd expect fines before community service. It just reinforces the feeling that this isn't actually about swearing but about Ben Sulayem's authority over the drivers.
Finally, I personally question with what authority the FIA is policing how they express themselves in the first place, warranted or not, because they're supposed to monitor rules and safety and imo what language the drivers use is neither. They'll argue this is about respecting the image of the sport or whatever I know there's an article about it in the rules that's been used in questionable ways before but it would make more sense to me if FOM asked the drivers to watch their language rather than the FIA because they're the ones managing the media and marketing aspect of things and this isn't about racing at all.

Save Her (Part Two)
Leon Kennedy x Reader
Summary: Y/n has been rescued and is now in the hospital.
CW: hospital equipment, breakdown, Leon is tired but he wants to comfort her more.
Tumblr media
Monitor beeps were the only source of sound in the hospital room. The lights are dimmed, and the air is cold. The sterile smell is a very familiar one for Leon. He stares at Y/n as she lays in the bed, sleeping somewhat peacefully. Besides the occasional flinch and breath hitch. Leon frowns, gently holding her hand and rubbing her knuckles with his thumb. His eye bags are only growing darker, even now that he has her back. He can't seem to sleep, he just needs to keep watch. The nurse steps in and gives the man a sympathetic smile. As she walks over to the bed, she begins taking notes of her vitals.
“Mr. Redfield is in the hall. He wishes to speak with you, Mr. Kennedy. Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on your wife.” She says quietly, earning a nod from Leon. Sure she's not his wife yet, but now more than ever he wants her to be. With one last glance at Y/n, he lets out a breath and stands. Chris awaits him in the hall, his arms crossed as he leans on the wall. Seeing Leon step out of the room, he walks over with a look of concern.
“How's she doing?” He asks softly, noticing his friend's tired state. Leon runs a hand through his sandy blonde hair, looking up at Chris.
“She's stable, just hasn't woken up yet. They're coming up with a recovery plan.” The blue eyed man explains, holding himself. Chris frowns and gently sets a hand on his shoulder.
“She's gonna get through this, you both are. With how stubborn you guys are, there's nothing that can push you apart.” The brunette states, giving Leon a smile, also with a firm look in his eyes. Leon chuckles and nods, he then yawns, his body swaying a bit. Chris keeps a grip on him just in case.
“You need to sleep, Leon.” He states, though is met with a defiant groan.
“I'll be fine, has Rebecca found any new information?” Leon asks as he glances around. The hall is partially empty, but the sounds of beeping and nurses can be heard further down. Chris nods and takes out his phone.
“Actually yeah, with the information collected from the main computer, she was able to find some files of their projects.” He shows Leon his phone, revealing photos of bioweapon parts and blueprints.
“These are all work in progress- well- they were at least. They're used for either personal gain of the company underground, or to auction off on the black market. Rebecca and Hunnigan were pretty spot on with their guesses.” He continues to explain, Leon takes a good look at the photos. He nods a bit, squinting his eyes as he notices a note on one of the blueprints.
Her blood could be useful for the new tyrant.
His fists clenched as he read it, how much blood did they take? What kind of fucked up experiments were they putting her through? Leon looks at Chris with a fire in his eyes. “Were they all killed in the explosion?” He asks. Chris puts his phone back in his pocket as he clears his throat. He takes a moment to compile a good answer, knowing Leon is on edge.
“We took out a good amount of them, but it seems a couple of the leaders managed to escape. We did catch one of them, he's in containment but isn't talking.” The shaky breath that escapes Leon is clearly him trying not to snap. If he got more involved, he would only cause more problems. Right now, the priority is Y/n. Chris and Rebecca will handle the rest just fine.
“Once she starts to show more improvement in her recovery, we’ll get you both in a safehouse.” Chris begins to explain the new safety procedure they put in place for the couple. Of course with Leon being one of the best agents, he'll be able to protect his fiancee. However, Ingrid still wants him to check in with Chris constantly in case anything happens.
“We do still have to think about the fact that they may be after her because of her relationship with you. That could mean you're both a target, so we'll have a radio to check in every day, and I won't be too far out.” The bulky man finishes, Leon nodding in understanding. It's hard to ignore the fact that he almost fell asleep during that explanation. Then the sound of screaming can be heard from the room behind them, Y/n’s room.
Leon tenses up instantly and rushes into the room with Chris following. Y/n is struggling in the bed, her panicked eyes scanning quickly around the room. All she sees is white walls, an IV in her arm, and a hospital gown on her. The nurse is doing her best to hold her down while calling for help. Leon goes over the side of the bed.
“Y/n- baby hey- it's okay!” He says loud enough for her to hear over the panicking. He gently grabs her face to get her to look at him while Chris tries to keep her from hitting the nurse. Y/n cries as she looks at Leon, her body trembling as her breath is fast. Seeing his bright blues causes her to pause for a moment, none of the scientists had eyes like those, most of them were brown. Leon gives her a smile, rubbing her cheekbones with his thumb.
“You're safe now, you're in a hospital. This isn't a dream, we're right here with you.” He assures softly, wiping away her tears. Her e/c eyes are glossy and wide, but as she begins to calm down, they droop.
“Not a- trick?” Her voice is brittle, more high pitched than usual too. It makes Leon and Chris’s heart hurt.
“No, honey. No tricks. I'm never leaving your side again, okay? I promise.” His tone is filled with determination as he holds her close. Y/n’s whimpers are muffled by his shirt, clinging to him for dear life.
“I wanna go home.” She begs, but deep down she knows it's not that easy. Leon sighs a bit as he rubs her head.
“I know, baby, but we can't yet. I want you to be free of pain.” He speaks softly into her ear. Meanwhile, Chris is back in the hall with the nurse, speaking with the doctor. He and a couple other nurses came when they heard the shouting.
“While three weeks may seem short, it definitely left long lasting effects, both mentally and physically. She's weak, to put it simply. She's lost a few pounds, and she's dehydrated, there's bruising from incorrect needle injections. More bruising and scratching from being assaulted. The list goes on, she's going to need at least a week here. We have a mental health specialist scheduled to meet with her in the morning. We hope to get her some nutrition, and with the pain meds we're going to provide, she'll probably be in and out of sleep or even loopy.” The doctor explains thoroughly, Chris listening intently. He nods his head in understanding, crossing his arms.
“Will her fiance be able to stay with her?” His voice is rough, but he keeps a very calm expression. He's worried for his close friends. When Leon introduced Y/n to the group, she was a literal ray of sunshine. Her smile can be so enlightening. She's funny and kind, a good balance to the wild life that they live. He'd never seen Leon so happy. Seeing her in such a state, it's heartbreaking, it was almost hard to recognize her. And knowing Leon, he has- and will continue to- out her before himself. He's selfless like that, but he's torn himself apart trying to get her back. They both need rest.
“We can allow that, especially seeing that he can keep her relaxed. The last thing we want is to scare her more.” The doctor answers with a sympathetic smile. Chris smiles in appreciation before going over some paperwork with them.

a/n: thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this part! I'll try to have the next part out soon, life has just been kicking ass😅

Please stop engaging with photos of the tannies in the military that don't come from the boys or bighit, bighit asked us the same thing. We repeatedly said that they would exploit the tannie's image as much as they could. we repeatedly said that the military app platforms should be used only by the boy's families.
anon … i’m going to need you to take a seat.
there are so many things about this ask that are both loud and wrong but in the interest of time, i’m going to hit the low points.
1. HYBE/Big Hit has never asked for fans to abstain from sharing military photos. it actually goes against their vested interest to do so. they have had to take 3 insanely famous worldwide superstars off the market for 2 years. military photos keep them in the public eye and make their fans happy.
2. members of BTS (or as you referred to them, “the boys” and “the tannies”) are actually grown men. you’re well within your rights to infantilize grown men in your own space on your own time, but that’s not how we do business here. if hobi or any other member took issue with the circulation of these photos, he would say so. either on his own social media or through weverse or through an official HYBE/Big Hit press release.
3. concerning photos on the military app: is it “exploitation” as you claim or is it a service for the “boy’s families” as you also claim? because it can’t be both. that app, that tradition existed long before BTS enlisted and will exist long after. is the korean government selling access to these photos? no. are they using them in marketing campaigns? also no.
beyond that, if for any reason the korean military took issue with the dissemination of these photos, trust and believe they’d put a stop to it. if they can figure out how to shoot an intercontinental ballistic missile out of the sky, they can figure out how to keep pictures of seokjin with his men off the internet.
4. no matter what “we repeatedly” said, it is not your place or anyone else’s place to police how people participate in this fandom. this is the exact kind of high-handed hall monitor nonsense that gives this fandom a bad name. what you are not going to do is come here and tell me and many other fans that we’re somehow disrespecting our faves by enjoying and sharing publicly available content. this is not sasaeng material, it does not jeopardize any member’s privacy and/or safety.
if you don’t want to engage with this kind of content, then don’t. keep it pushing.
