A woman was fired from her position at a senior shelter because she …(checks notes)….objected to the presence of a man who killed two women, threaten her AND was permitted to keep a gun! WTF

A former social worker at a Manhattan senior shelter has filed a lawsuit against her ex-employer, claiming she lost her job after she warned her bosses that a convicted serial killer had made threats against her life while she worked at the facility. 

Monica Archer was let go from her position at George Daly House, a short-term housing alternative for elderly residents in Alphabet City, even after convicted serial killer Harvey Marcelin was charged with the brutal slaying and dismemberment of a former resident. Marcelin identifies as a lesbian woman, and often uses the name “Marceline Harvey.”

The lawsuit, filed on Monday, concerned the shelter’s decision to admit Marcelin, 84, who has been placed on lifetime parole after spending 50 years in prison for the homicide and dismemberment of two women.

According to an exclusive published in the New York Post, Marcelin “made constant threats to kill” Archer and other personnel, and was permitted to keep a gun on the premises.

Archer had suggested to her supervisors that Marcelin be transferred to a facility specializing in mental health disorders, but was ignored. She had also recommended Marcelin be placed in an “appropriate setting for the serial killer who has issues that I can’t address.”

But Archer says that management continued to allow Marcelin to reside at the shelter, despite “knowing that [he] had been accused of and convicted of several murders, allegedly possessed a gun, and regularly threatened to kill staff members.”

Marcelin had also reportedly begun following Archer after she left work for the evening, leaving the social worker so frightened that she began using alternative routes to commute after work.

Despite Marcelin’s “erratic” and “dangerous” behavior, he was released from the senior care shelter to live independently. Yet Archer remained troubled by his behavior and filed a complaint against the facility with the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration for exposing her to risk.

She alleges that management then retaliated against her, putting her on janitorial duty and refusing to let her work remotely.

On March 4, just one week after moving into an apartment, Marcelin was arrested for the grisly murder and dismemberment of Susan Leyden, 68, who had been a former resident at the same senior facility.

Leyden’s body was found in pieces scattered across the neighborhood, with parts being found on two separate days. Her headless torso was found by a passerby in a shopping cart blocks away from Marcelin’s apartment on March 3, prompting police to question Marcelin on the gruesome discovery. 

Two months after Marcelin was taken into custody, Archer alleges she was fired for insubordination, a move she says was punishment for raising the alarm in the first place. 

“To the detriment of the public, when [Marcelin] was placed into society in [his] own apartment, [he] allegedly murdered a former resident no more than a week later, clearly inapposite to the best interests of public safety,” the lawsuit reads.

The news that Marcelin had been charged with homicide came as “no surprise” to Archer, according to the suit. 

Prior to the murder of Susan Leyden, Marcelin was well-known to police, having been convicted in the brutal deaths of two other women on two separate occasions. 

In 1963, Marcelin was arrested for shooting his then-girlfriend Jacqueline Bonds three times inside their Manhattan apartmet. He was sentenced to 20 years to life and was paroled in 1984. After his release, he went on to stab another female sexual partner to death, stuffing her corpse in a garbage bag and then dumping it on the street near Central Park.

Marcelin was arrested in 1986 for the second murder, but was once again released on parole in 2019. At the time, he told a parole officer that he had “a problem with women.”

Prior to the murders, Marcelin was accused of attempted rape when he was just 14 years-old; the allegation was made by a girl aged 8.

A 1963 psychiatric examination conducted by three doctors at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital concluded Marcelin had “schizoid personality with sociopathic features” but was not deemed criminally insane nor psychotic. A hospital record from 1962 suggested he may have had “delusional grandiosity,” “suggestions of chronic schizophrenia” and “paranoid reaction personality.”

Marcelin began identifying as a woman while at Auburn State Prison for his second slaying, and started taking Premarin, a type of estrogen intended for post-menopausal women, after meeting trans-identified male inmate at the facility. The killer appears to treat his “male” and “female” personas as two separate entities. In an interview he gave to the New York Post earlier this year, Marcelin claimed it was his “male” persona that was responsible for his history of crime.

“Harvey’s not a good guy, he’s a tough guy,” Marcelin said, “Marceline’s nice and gentle and loving, you know, lots of laughter, fun to be with. She’s the one who’s perfectly normal.”

Marcelin appears to have become acquainted with Leyden shortly after being paroled in 2019. 

One of his many Facebook profiles reveals that he had communication with Leyden around that time, and appeared to become somewhat obsessed with her, using her photos in place of his own.

In October 2021, just months before murdering Leyden, Marcelin responded to her on Facebook with the comment, “Love personified.”

Yet a few replies made from Leyden’s Facebook account suggest that the feeling was far from mutual. 

In November 2020, Marcelin uploaded a picture of a young blond woman as his main profile photo, the identity of whom is unknown. Beneath the photo, Leyden commented: “That is not a picture of Marceline Harvey… [he] is nice but crazy… Marcaline [sic] is a freak.”

Archer was not the only woman to raise concerns about Marcelin prior to the murder of Susan Leyden. 

In July, a nurse who works intake for a shelter in the Bronx spoke to the New York Times and revealed she had great concerns about Marcelin being allowed access to the women’s section of the facility. 

Anne Brennan questioned whether Marcelin should be permitted to reside in the women’s area of the shelter, but was told by her supervisors to grant Marcelin entry.

“Apparently his feelings and identity were far more important than all the other women that were terrified of him,” she said.

Marcelin is currently booked as a “female” detainee with the New York City Department of Corrections, and is being housed at the Rose M. Singer Center — the only women’s facility on Rikers Island.

Marcelin’s next court date is scheduled for January 25.

I was re-watching the lord of the rings films recently and it hit me again how much I liked the chemistry between Aragorn and Eowyn. Which of course, I'll be quick because I recommend this to literally everyone as I think it's kind of perfect, but When the Duke Was Wicked by Lorraine Heath. Lovingdon initially see Grace as very much a sort of little sister type, which is also an Aragorn/Eowyn thing, and he's still in love with his dead wife which makes him think he can't be with anyone else. (Romantically. He's definitely with a lot of women physically after his wife dies.)

Mentor/Mentee with Battle Vibes:

The Arrow by Monica McCarty. A Scottish medieval, the hero is a famous archer/warrior guy who takes the heroine on as his ward, then comes home to find her All Grown Up and DETERMINED to have him. There's an age gap (nothing huge) some sparring, he tries to resist but she won't have it... it's great.

Glory and The Master of Shadows by Grace Callaway. Wei becomes Glory's teacher in The Art of Battle (the book has wuxia inspo, which is AMAZEEN) and there's a ton of tension because he's trying to not give in and have her, but she's always like "yes master", "yes teacher" and of course a lot of fighting and stuff.

Duke of Pleasure by Elizabeth Hoyt. This is a great pick, if you're okay with the hero being a liiiittle less honorable (... he tries). He's a duke/king's illegitimate son who's trying to take down this pedophile ring (TW) and ends up working alongside this street urchin girl who's dressed as a boy most of her life and is named ALF. He ends up mentoring her, she's a fighter vigilante, and it's HOT.

Butterfly Swords by Jeannie Lin. OOOH THIS. The heroine is a Tang Dynasty princess on her way to marry a warlord (who's evil but also the hero of the next book and amazing) and her entourage is ambushed. She ends up traveling alongside this mercenary, and he works with her on swordfighting and stuff (there's an amazing blindfolded swordfight practice scene). The slow burn, the mentorship, the TENSION.

For the WIP Game, MCU - A Quantum Universe

Oooh, I'm excited about this one and hope that I really do actually find the time to write it once I finish Lent From Tomorrow (and probably Please Stand By?). I actually got the idea from an anon who messaged me last time I did a fic meme -- if anyone reading this is that anon, please tell me so I can credit you properly! -- but: ok.

So.

This is an Endgame AU where Thanos' snap Dusts either all men or just all of the male superheroes (haven't decided yet) but either way: all of the male superheroes are Dusted. So it's up to the woman superheroes to save the universe and bring back the other half of the universe and whatnot. Up in space, Captain Marvel finds Nebula and Mantis and they go to Earth to find out what happened. Natasha is leading what's left of the Avengers (so, uh, her, Wanda, and Maria Hill) and teaming up with Okoye, Shuri, and the Dora to do all of the humanitarian stuff that EG totally ignores but that we get hints that Nat's been coordinating during the Blip.

MEANWHILE IN SAN FRANCISCO, Janet Van Dyne and Hope contact eminent astrophysicists Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis because they think (idk some technobabble I will figure out). They decide to contact the lady Avengers and offer their help. Probably Katy is their lyft driver across the country.

Time keeps going while they build a new quantum tunnel, but they need more than to be able to enter and exit the quantum realm. They need to be able to traverse the multiverse.

Nat's like, "I know a brilliant scientist," and she contacts Melina and Yelena. Possibly there's a subplot about Madame Hydra Val and Powerbroker Sharon but idk. Something something Ten Rings Xialing.

Like twoooo-ish years into the Blip, there's someone standing outside of the Compound gates a la Scott Lang, but it's not Scott. He got Dusted. It's Kate Bishop and her martial arts sparring partner, MJ Jones-Watson. Kate claims to be the best archer left on Earth, if they need a new Hawkeye. MJ basically says, "I'm pretty sure I went to school with Spider-Man? I'm not sticky, but I'm good at aerial silks and martial arts, and also engineering, and I want to help?" Possibly Riri shows up with them, too, idk.

At some point Carol shows back up with Monica, Maria who DID NOT DIE, and Kamala.

The greatest minds of the MCU are all working on how to travel the multiverse to get the stones safely but it's not working. Science! is not enough on its own.

Enter Wanda's chaos magic. And maybe Agatha? Undecided. And maybe America? Also undecided.

So the women team up into groups to go to different universes adjacent to the MCU's main universe to get the stones, and no one goddamn leaves anyone for Peggy.

And possibly Nat and Yelena are who go to Vormir. Undecided.

Yadadada, they get the stones, build their own gauntlet, nobody betrays anyone because they didn't meet up with Old Nebula, Captain Marvel snaps because duh, and the menfolk heroes are back. Everyone rides off into the sunset, alive and with who they're supposed to be with.

Omg I’m so happy to be on at the same time as you!!! So much to tell you! I had a session with my therapist and she said something that really hit me and then coming home Like A Prayer came on the radio that reminded me of you and I was like I HAVE TO TELL NAT WHAT MY THERAPIST SAID! And ok with Matty tbh I think the first time they were together they were somewhere between Friends With Benefits and a couple but never actually boyfriend and girlfriend. So with Joe x matty overlap I had a nugget of info that no other blog wanted to publish and so I stopped caring lmao but apparently at a 1975 show like a month before the breakup was announced they played that song Taylor had on her playlist - about you?? The song he mouthed ‘I love you you know who you are’ or whatever in. Idk cause idc about them and honestly just don’t even vibe with their music - but he introduced the song saying he wrote it “TO WIN SOMEONE BACK… AND IT WORKED” and my head cannon is that Taylor was in the studio being sad/ writing songs about a partner who had checked out and expressed that she was sad and missing him even though he’s there sort of thing. They have conversations that leads her to write Question and him to write whatever he wrote about her. And Matty is like ‘oooh trouble in paradise? Let me shoot my shot by writing this song that I really liked fucking you and would like to date you properly you are special to me’ then he told her it was about her and she was like …. Ummm ok thanks but I have a boyfriend 🙂 but I still want to know if you’ve ever obsessed over me cause I like to pussy whip people. So thanks for that 🙂’ and then one day she’s sitting across the table from Joe with the fancy shit and is biting her nails and wishing hed do something and then she remembers ‘well matty put himself out there! There’s an episode of friends where Monica is in a relationship with chandler and says she wants marriage and he wants to surprise her with a proposal but he does that by making her think he is dead against marriage. So Monica is sad and then she runs into her old flame Richard who says he messed up with her and wishes he did something to make it work, he’d marry her if given the chance. So Monica goes ‘fuck chandler! Richard will marry me! What am I doing with you???!’… eventually Monica finds out about Chandler’s plan and she and chandler work it out… but I can just so see that happening with Taylor x joe x matty - only joe was genuinely indecisive about marriage and didn’t try to win her back with a ring once she left him for Marty.

I personally don’t think they cheated towards the end, unless they really were on a break and she was like ‘well let’s see what it’s like to be with someone else and may as well be someone I’ve already done cause it’s safe and I know what I’m getting compared to fucking a random and not knowing if it’ll get out or become public or be good or bad…’ but I just can’t picture them cheating when they were buying a house and forcing forward momentum even if it was just an attempt to salvage the relationship.

I can totally see Joe checking out for multiple reasons but tbh I’d be terrified of leaving someone who wrote that life would lose meaning if I left them, because what if something bad happened? I don’t think the archer and anti hero are examples of “guilting you into staying with me”, I think they’re just really well written expressions of anxieties and I’m sure their conversations were more based in reality than her lyrics that NEED to be dramatic and follow a theme yk? But part of me wonders if having songs like that and ones about how you’re the best sex, best love, reason for breathing, etc could make you feel a bit complacent and like you don’t have to try at all cause she’ll keep him forever like a vendetta? Like he was getting so much reassurance so publicly that he was awesome! So Id love to know how that works privately. And part of me wonders if they both just thought everything would work out eventually and they’d both go back to their good place and when it didn’t happen, neither knew what to do until Taylor called it quits.

Okay so this contains some spoilers (mostly specculation really) from wanda vision so... spoilers below cut.

We have all seen the casting for Spiderman 3 & Doctor strange 2.... It includes people like: Andrew Garfield (spiderman) Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez) Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) Tom Hiddleston (Loki) Among others.... lots of universes being mixed here guys. So I have a theory... Blame my friend for this thing being birthed she had to listen to this as it came out. Peter/Pietro (since xmen pietro is called peter, but wanda knows his as pietro) maximoff is Loki, last we saw loki he had the tesseract and was fleeing, loki is trying to find out the state of the awvengers post end game, and yeah loki likes to fuck with thor & in the comics he lovveeesss just winding people up (God of mischief ffs), so he is trying to find out what the fuck is going on, he is curious about wanda's level of powers (like she is one of the most powerful mcu characters, hes gunna be curious), wanda as we know has a town hostage and is controlling everything, this is similar to avenegrs where loki wanted to rule earth, so hes seeing if she could be of use to him/try figure out a way to get his end goal. End of wanda vision season 1 - wanda looses complete control, she snaps. She breaks the multi verse because she has been believing this pietro is her pietro but with a different face... she finds out it is loki in pietros body which causes her to loose total control and snap a rift in the multi verse OR sword cause her so much stress, vision is questionign everything/realises what wanda did (Sees the footage maybe?) or she has to watch him die again and wanda is so torn over by emotion that she looses control, pietro/loki then realises that oh fuck this is about to go down and wanda uses her powers to try control more and either knocks pietro loki back into loki for or loki shifts just before to do a reveal, he may even try and fix this and help wanda because he knows intense powers and notice she is going insane????? But this ends in her bringing in all the spidermen into the MCU. Bringing deadpool with em. Bringing america chavez with them (She lives in a paralel universe and thats where she got her powers so wanda drags her into MCU because hey, she snapped). Doc strange 2 happens which is about the multi verse. Strange appears at end of wanda vision kinda like "Oh no...." like he's seeing what is about to happen and sees wanda is about to cause he doesnt see this coming,  So doc strange 2 is now begining wanda has lost control and merged all theses universes into one - sony,fox,the new characters universe etc etc etc are now all in the MCU universe there is many spider men now (Like into the spider verse) kidna like that level of how it happens they just got ripped into this reality. In spider man 3 this is also playing a part because all the spidermen are still here (Showing this could be a long winded issue/they cant get back to their universe because wanda doesnt know how she did it, doesnt want to do it/cant do it again) Back to doc strange 3 - this movie will be directly dealing with the immediate backlash of this, the many spidermen, deadpool, america chavez all appearing, strange realising what has happened, trying to fix this, loki also there because he doesnt even know whats happened but DAMN is he interested because THIS level of power.... thats interesting to him. Loki's disney+ series happens after the multi verse of madness/during it (like loki's show is bought up in it like "lokis fucking president?!?!?!" like thats another thing thats gone wrong from wanda's melt down and destroying the multi verse, and another thing for strange to to and do damage control on. wanda cant fix this, shes now gone fully off rails, if she watches vision die twice she wont be coming back from that we know. so strange is also trying to help her on how to use her powers as she never reallllly has had training, strange might know people who can help her deal with this insane amount of power. Strange cant fix this alone he needs wanda to try and fix this, and the issue could be a permenant one ( i recon it will be permenant and all wwhat phase 4 & 5 will be about) Doctor strange 2 sees them going between thesee multi verse's they have discovered (maybe strqange & wanda, maybe strange & wong, maybe wanda and someone else who knows... but they are trying to find out how far this damage has gone End of doctor strange is them realising this isnt a quick fix, the world has gone insane as there is all these new ones, ("WHY ARE THERE 3 SPIDER MEN!" - JJJ shouts (cause hey he was in the tobey mcguire spidermen ffs we get him with this package too) spider man 3 then happens & tom holland (The spider men will be refered to by their actors names) see's that um theres another spider man??? what the??? he finds him and they all find out they are the same spider man. This movie plays out similary to into the spiderverse but they dont all go at the end of it because this is a long winded issue. But... now we have america chavez, shes just been bumbling round the MCU being a hero cause she's here.... Monica as you rememebr from wanda vision has her internal sequencing rewritten each time she goes through the hex, this gives her powers cause she has gone through the hex so much at this stage in wanda vision.... So Monica = Photon America Chavez Cassie = Stature Kate bishop = Hawkeye Tom holland = Spiderman How did kate get here and Cassie? KATE So clint stepped down, hawkeye disney+ seems to be like fractions, clints training kate (maybe his family left after end game because jfc clint is probs a wreck, or clint didnt stop so hsi wife left.... maybe they live in iowa happily who knows) Clint was going solo for a while in newyork, when he met this other hawkeye (Hey maybe kate got dragged through the multi verse or maybe she was just a great archer rich kid in newyork who saw hawkeye had fucked off after the blip (maybe she was working during the blip, but towards the end? in comics she took hawkeye mantle while clint was off beign a depressed noodle and he then found out there was 2 hawkeyes and confronted ehr and agreed to train her so maybe somehting simialr to this is what happens in hawkeye) But anyway Clints training kate in new york and yeah shes good. CASSIE Scott after end game & Hope continue being antman and the wasp, but cassie eventually takes over the suit from them (Maybe something happens in antman 3 quantamania that means neither scott or hope can use the suits any more because it will tear them apart, like hank cant use the suits because it takes too much of a toll on his body now and he wouldnt surive it really...) so cassie has taken over the suits and is now operating under the code name stature. This then begins the next arc for the avengers now they have got people powered up, and atleast 1 person from this destruction of the multi verse (America chavez) but we may have more that are discovered over the course of phase 4 that were bought through with the multi verse. So, where does this go??? The young avengers is the next big arc.... Maybe wanda (&peter maximoff? not sure how that would work as young piettro (evan peters one) was from the 80s or something in xmen so is an adult not a kid like he is in wanda vision, which adds to my this isnt pietro but loki thing) But maybe wanda is leading them, maybe not. But the multi verse cant be fixed so they have these heroes now and the avengers kinda died after end game cause tony died and steve fucked off. Sam helps train but hes off with bucky alot too doing a buddy up thing together, but as sam is the new cap he also heads up this young avengers kinda as a mentor for them. Now... right now your pronbs thinking "Morgan stark though" Morgan has a suit... but morgan is still even in 2030 (hawkeye is 2025...) morgan would only be 7..... so she isnt really old enough.... But who else had an iron man suit in the comics? who may of got dragged through the multi verse? Enter riri williams aka iron heart. I have to put these under a readmore bc 20 questions is a LOT

1. What is your character's morning routine?

ngl I hate this question because I, tess the human, do not have a "morning routine" and truly do not understand what a morning routine even IS. like. what. wake up, brush your teeth, put on clothes, have breakfast? what the fuck else do people do in the morning

2. What was your character's morning routine when they were a child?

I dunno dude the same as it is now but worse? with a more rigid schedule? truly I don't understandddd

3. Do they eat breakfast? What's they favorite?

yes ingot eats breakfast but no they do not have a favorite breakfast food. dinner is for foods meant to be enjoyed. breakfast is purely pragmatic

4. Who was their childhood hero?

oh, their dad. absolutely ingot idolized their dad. they wanted to be an archer just like him and to serve in the military just like him and to use his bow and and and

5. What was their childhood fear?

breaking a rule and getting in trouble. being a shame to the family. being anything short of excellent

6. Did they grow up with siblings? What were those relationships like?

ingot and his younger brother lucien were like cordial coworkers. they were in different departments but they took their lunch break at the same time and they had the same shitty bosses. they never fought but like. they weren't FRIENDS

7. How was their relationship with their parents/guardians growing up?

bad lmao ingot was never their child he was an employee and a trophy

8. How does the sunrise make them feel?

like he's on the clock. like he's being watched. like there's work to be done

oh surely numerous cons have gone south over the years, some in spectacular fashion. but the worst thing cirrus ever did was play innocent too well-- well enough that every mischievous plan she ever had was blamed on brontide, until eventually it was decided that he was too much trouble and ought to be sent away. she failed in her promise that "it's gonna be fine, trust me." she failed to keep him safe. if she'd been a worse actor everything would have been different

37. What is their sleep/trance like?

I imagine cirrus is a very light sleeper, but she's also kind of a... perfect sleeper? like the way actors in commercials have their eyes perfectly closed and they lie perfectly still and they put none of their weight on the pillow at all

38. Do they remember their dreams?

yeah. I think cirrus has very vividly colorful dreams

39. If someone could tell them anything about the future they asked, would they want to know? Would they ask?

hm... I don't know. I think cirrus has a lot of aspirations but she doesn't like to plan TOO far in advance, because where's the room then for adrenaline? for things to take an unexpected turn? sure it'd be nice to be certain that things are going to work out, but cirrus holds that conviction anyway. asking feels like a very grounded thing; cirrus needs to be moved by the breeze

'Inuyasha' Scriptwriter Shows Some Leg, and What Else You Missed During the Opening Ceremonies

From a stage twinkling with starry lights, Con Chairs Victor Lee and Lauren Gallo revealed that both of their first anime had to do with outer space. For Victor, it was Star Blazers. For Lauren, it was Gundam Wing.

“Space became something awesome. It was adventure. It was endless possibility, unlimited potential. And we see those same descriptors for Anime Boston,” said Victor.

The 2018 “Into The Stars” theme paved the way for a star-studded lineup of guests. Here’s a full list in order of every guest who showed up for the Opening Ceremonies (since not everyone could make it), and a rundown of some of their more entertaining antics. 

Keep in mind that this isn’t a total list of everything they’ve ever been credited for!

Greg Ayres, Nagisa in Free!, Nishinoya in Haikyuu. Reprises his guest status for the umpteenth time. “They can’t keep me away,” he said. “I love Boston so much.”

Caitlynn French, Hana Isuzu in Girls und Panzer, Shiro in No Game No Life. “This is my first time out here, so be gentle with me,” she said.

Monica Rial, Bulma in Dragon Ball Z Kai, Froppy in My Hero Academia. “We’re having a big My Hero panel, so come say hi to Froppy in person,” she said, in Froppy’s voice.

Jez Roth, costumer for Cirque du Soleil, and contributing designer to One Piece Film: Gold. Roth arrived in Team Skull cosplay, doing the Naruto run. “I have wanted to be at this con for years,” he said. He also called beloved Anime Boston MC Roadie “Daddy.”

Kaiji Tang, Archer in Fate/Stay series, Detective Pikachu in Detective Pikachu. “Looking forward to seeing you at my panels all weekend,” he told the crowd.

Katsuyuki Sumizawa, scriptwriter for Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, and more, showed a bit of leg on stage. “In honor of being in Boston I wore red socks today,” he said, lifting his pant leg.

Hideyuki Tomioka, producer for Inuyasha, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and more for Sunrise. “Some of these shows are really old. You all know about them?” he said, surprised as the audience cheered in affirmation.

Kazuki Yao, Franky and Bon Clay in One Piece, Judau Ashta in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. He appeared on stage wearing Franky sunglasses and glittering track gear. “Hi everybody, how do you do?” he said in English. As he talked with the audience, he swapped between his Franky and Bon Clay voices.

Kaoru Wada, composer for Samurai 7 and Inuyasha music. It’s his first time at Anime Boston. “I’m sorry, I can’t speak English well,” he said to the crowd in perfect English.

Hirokatsu Kihara, production desk for many Ghibli films, was here in 2017 as well. “I’m baaaack,” he told the audience, putting his ear to the crowd to encourage more cheers. He said he’ll be giving away a “present from Japan” at one of his Ghibli panels.

Yuji Muto, director for Scrapped Princess, Crayon Shin Chan. Showed up in a hero mask and “vanquished” his interpreter before apologizing.

Christian Bevins, lead in Devil is a Part Timer, Japan in Hetalia. “Five years ago, I met the love of my life at this convention,” he said, referring to voice actor Rachel Robinson.

Scott Gibbs, Sora in No Game No Life, Kageyama in Haikyuu!!. Said it was his first time in Boston. “You’re making me blush,” he said in response to catcalls from the audience.

Josh Grelle, Armin in Attack on Titan, Yuri in Yuri!!! on Ice, “We were born to ship Victuri,” he said, prompting enthusiastic screams from the audience.

Brandon McInnis, Sonosuke in Danganronpa 3, Keita in Gamers!. Not only is this Brandon’s first time at Anime Boston, but his first time in Boston, period.

Rachel Robinson, Chitose Oribe in Sakura Quest, Quinn in Wizard Barristers. “I met a really cute boy last time I was here, and we’re still together,” she said about Bevins.

Stephanie Sheh, Sailor Moon in Sailor Moon Crystal, Orihime in Bleach. “There are so many guests here, holy crap! … Can I say crap?” she asked.

J Michael Tatum, Iida in My Hero Academia, Rei in Free!, “If you see me in the hallway come up and say hi. Give me a hug, I like hugs!” he said. “Just don’t run full tilt at me to give me one, or I’ll step aside. We call that the Matador.”

Asaka, singer/songwriter for Shiny Days in Laid-Back Camp. “I just graduated from high school this month and I’m 18 years old,” she told the audience in English.

FLOW, “Colors” opening theme for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, “Go!!!” opening theme for Naruto. “We’ve had over 20 of our songs appear in anime,” the band told the audience before running off stage, Naruto-style.

After growing up in suburban Centerville, graduating high school and marrying high-school sweetheart Robert "Buzz" Baxter, Patsy Walker becomes an assistant to scientist Hank McCoy, the mutant superhero the Beast, who at that time was on hiatus from the X-Men. Estranged from her husband, now a U.S. Air Force colonel, Walker befriends McCoy,[42][43][44] and, desiring to become a superhero, accompanies McCoy on an quest with the Avengers.[45] She adopts an ability-enhancing costume that formerly belonged to Greer Grant Nelson, the former masked adventuress the Cat, and takes on the name Hellcat.[46]

After having used her natural athletic abilities and good instincts to rescue the Avengers, Walker is offered membership in the team.[47] The cosmic adventurer Moondragon persuades Hellcat to decline and instead accompany her to Saturn's moon Titan for training in psychic ability and advanced martial arts.[48] Walker's training is soon interrupted when she returns to Earth to assist the supernatural hero Doctor Strange, joining the Defenders in the process.[49][50][51] Later, Moondragon revokes her mind powers mentioning Walker's ineffective use of them.[52]

She meets her future husband Daimon Hellstrom, the Son of Satan, during the course of a quest with the Defenders.[53] After learning that her mother had promised her soul to Satan,[54] and briefly being lied to by the Devil that he was her father,[55] Walker reunites with her real father and marries Hellstrom. The two then retire from being superheroes.[56] Ultimately, Hellstrom's demonic inheritance took possession of him and drove Walker insane. Institutionalized, she was driven to suicide by the otherworldly being Deathurge.[57]

Trapped in Hell, Walker's spirit is used in a series of gladiatorial-like combat scenarios. There, she learns to develop and use her psychic powers. Hellstrom tricks the archer superhero Hawkeye into returning her spirit to Earth; Hawkeye believes he is retrieving his presumed-dead wife, Mockingbird, from the demonic lord Mephisto's realm.[31] Resurrected and back on Earth, Walker retains the powers she developed in Hell, and she is also able to manifest a costume at will.[58] Once again a member of the Defenders, Hellcat focuses on combating occult evils, notably Nicholas Scratch, who had based himself in her hometown of Centerville,[58] and the otherdimensional ruler Dormammu.[59]

During the Civil War storyline, Hellcat registers.[60] She serves as one of the young superheroes' instructors at Camp Hammond.[61] She was then assigned as the Avengers 50 State Initiative official superhero for Alaska,[62] but eventually returned to New York City.[63] Hellcat develops and maintains a deep friendship with the superheroes Firestar, Black Cat, and Monica Rambeau, partly stemming from their support to Firestar, who develops and then survives breast disease.[64]

Hellcat is later seen with She-Hulk and facing personal problems. After a night of heavy drinking and partying, Hellcat and She-Hulk invade a warehouse that A.I.M. was using as a hideout and defeat two agents wearing high tech suits. She-Hulk then hires Hellcat as her private investigator to help with her economic situation.[65] She then helps She-Hulk in protecting Kristoff Vernard, the son of Doctor Doom, who was trying to defect to the US.[66] She is later seen talking with Tigra about a case involving a lawsuit but ends up fighting her when she mentions the plaintiff's name, George Saywitz.[67] After recovering in a hospital,[68] she helps She-Hulk and Hank Pym in a recovery mission to save Reza, the partner of inventor Rufus Randall, to settle an argument between them over a device known as the Shrinko, which they were planning to sell to Pym.[69] They later wind up helping Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, with a lawsuit involving a murder that happened in 1940.[70]

As part of the "All-New, All-Different Marvel" line, She-Hulk eventually gets unable to afford Hellcat as an investigator and fires her friend, which also forces Walker to move out of Walters' office building (the same place where Howard the Duck works). Walker moves to the Brooklyn apartment of Ian, an Inhuman who she met when he used his powers to steal from an armored truck. Ian gets a job with Walker's old friend Tom Hale (known as "Tubs" in the romance comics) and inspires her to open a work agency for other superpowered people. To her chagrin, Walker also learns that her old rival Hedy Wolfe has obtained the rights from Walker's late mother Dorothy to republish the Patsy Walker comics. With the help of She-Hulk and Jessica Jones, Walker gets the rights back by proving that Dorothy was sedated and thus not in full mental capacities when she signed the comics off to Hedy, making it a void contract.[71]

During the "Civil War II" storyline, Patsy Walker learns that She-Hulk is in a coma at the Triskelion. Miss America allows Patsy to visit her. After the visit, Patsy tells Howard the Duck and the other tenants about She-Hulk's current condition, and moves her offices to where Jennifer operated as a lawyer.[72]

Afterwards, Hedy dupes Patsy's ex-husbands Mad-Dog and Daimon Hellstrom into fighting her. Daimon sends Patsy to a dimension ruled by the demon Belial, who tries to bring Hellcat to his side.[73] Patsy then confronts her former friend Black Cat, now leading a gang of criminals.[74] Patsy suddenly catches a cold that causes her to alter reality when she sneezes. After several disasters, Patsy accidentally makes a building disappear. Hedy then calls Patsy and reveals that she is dating the demon Belial, who helps Patsy overcome her grief over She-Hulk and cures her of the cold.[75] Patsy then receives a check for a big amount of money from She-Hulk and takes Ian, Tom, and Jubilee to the mall. While shopping, they encounter two teenage girls pretending to be supervillains, who are revealed to be Patsy's biggest fans. Ian then figures out that the girls like each other and resolves their dispute. After that, Patsy expresses joy of how her life has changed.[76]
