Risks & Rewards
Charles Leclerc x Reader
For the purpose of the story Charles & Alex relationship is important and is mentioned but timeline is fictional. This is a one night stand fic with hidden pregnancy being the main plot. Warning; Google translated French?
Tumblr media
Monaco. May 26th 2024.
There was nothing but passion between the two of you, your bodies moving together in sync with pleasure as if you were still on the dance floor of the club you had met at.
You’d been in town for the Monaco Grand Prix, invited by Kika, one of your best friends and colleagues. You’d spent the day watching the race and then the night celebrating the historic win of the Monegasque driver, Prince of the people.
He was a friend of a friend, high off of defeating his previous ill fated incidents and claiming a space of his country’s history books.
Music soared and bodies met, one thing led to another and you found yourselves tangled in the sheets of your hotel room, a night fuel and lust, passion and alcohol.
The next morning thankfully there was no awkward tension, he’d left before the sun had peaked from the skies.
It did not matter; the night was fun, something people did when they were young and wild.
However, a month later, back at home, you began to feel the difference, morning sickness and missed period but the at home test debunked the theory, after two months, and a doctor check up, you found out the night that fulfilled a wild fantasy of fleeting pleasure, had left a what you believed to be a reward.
You debated messaging Charles, it was easy getting his number from Pierre, the problem was that you had no idea what to say ‘hi, we had a one night stand and now im pregnant with your child which I want to keep’ did not sound right in your head, plus from your source of all things Charles -Kika and Pierre- he now had a girlfriend. Their relationship seems picturesque, they made a gorgeous couple and you truly were happy for him, after all, you had no feels for the man, with plenty of consideration, you decided to keep your little surprise from Charles. It was highly unlikely that your paths would cross again, your only connection to his world was Pierre and Kika, whom, you had to swear to secrecy, you barely saw them anyways, so you existed almost completely outside of his bubble.
——
Monaco. December 2024.
You’d been in Monaco for a few days with Kika, she had insisted you two had some relaxing girl time before you couldn’t travel due to the baby. You’d spent the days, shopping, eating and at the spa, being seven months along kept you from the lifestyle you once had in the same country, not that you minded, nothing brought you more joy that preparing for the arrival of your daughter.
Sun poured into the cafe, it was a nice welcome to the chilly winter air that hugged the city, a latte and scones sat infront of you, Kika was running late for your day of, shopping, so you sat alone, reading through a magazine from the shop when they bell above the door chimed. You looked up, thinking it was your friend, when you were met with a familiar set of eyes, you remembered its beautiful shade of green.
Charles.
You quickly looked away, not wanting to draw attention to yourself, you’d met once, over seven months ago, he wasn’t likely to remember you. For a few moments you were spared as he went to the counter and placed his order. Seconds felt like hours as he stood across the cafe from you, the shop felt tight, like you were trapped in a shoe box of memories and decisions you couldn’t escape.
The little one began moving around and kicking in your stomach. Instinctively, your hand rest on your swollen belly, it’s as if she could sense her father, so close.
The chime of the door came again, this time it was Kika “Sorry, sorry” she apologized and made her way to you “Pirre insisted on driving” she flopped her bag down on the chair infront of yours before hugging you in greeting.
“It’s fine, your goddaughter wakes me too early” you smiled, feeling the tension from your shoulders lift a little.
Her arrival did not go unnoticed by Charles as he wondered coffee in hand to say hello to her. You watched on quietly as she hugged him and exchanged pleasantries then to your horror, she introduced you “you remember my friend, Y/N?” God you wished he didn’t.
“Of course yes” he says, a slight blush, probably from the memory of your night together.
Kika quietly disappeared to the counter, leaving you two alone.
You smiled politely and stuck your hand out for him to shake “nice to meet you again”
“You too, and uh congratulations” He says “how many months?”
Your heart dropped, he couldn’t figure it, not so quickly, his soft polite smile never left his face, he was just being nice and asking for conversations sake, he didn’t know and probably didn’t truly care.
But you saw this as the moment to come clean, after all you had kept it from him for seven months, guilt had led you to his inbox many many times only to close out the message before you could hit send.
“Seven months” You say, watching him intently. You saw the moment it registered, the moment his smile fell. He slumped down in the seat in front of you.
“Seven months” he repeated “that would mean, wait me? I am the father?” He says softer, just above a whisper. There wasn’t anyone but you, him and Kika in the shop at the moment, but you understood this was no place for this revelation.
You only nodded.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because, what would have changed? You don’t want to be the father, you don’t have to be..I’m not asking you to be”
“Putain de merde!” He cursed “still you should have told me”
“I’m sorry Charles, I just did what I thought was best. I wanted her, you did not ask for this. I don’t want to be a burden, I want nothing from you”
“She? We are having a daughter”
“I am having a girl, yes. You do not have to be her father Charles, you have a wonderful life, a beautiful girlfriend, you just got a dog together, you don’t have to let what happened months ago change your life, I have to leave” Quickly, you got up and grabbed your bag, existing the cafe as quickly as possible. Thankfully neither Charles nor Kika followed you as you headed back to your hotel.
You laid in bed for the rest of the day, cradling your stomach, your baby was yours, you loved her so deeply, you didn’t need Charles. You had a wonderful family that supported you and loved your unborn child as well.
Later in the afternoon, there was a knock on your door, you opened it with the expectation that Kika had come to drag you out of your mood, but to your surprise it was Charles.
“Please let us talk for a moment, I just want to understand”
You nodded and moved aside, letting him in.
“I brought you some food, we can have dinner together”
“Charles, you didn’t have to”
“I know but I wanted to”
“Thank you” you got yourself comfortable on your bed again “come on sit let’s talk”
“She’s mine? I don’t doubt you but she’s is mine”
“Yes, the condoms neither of us had” The Heat of the moment had left you both a little hay brained.
“And she’s due in January… do you have a date?” As you ate, you answered all the questions he had, which was a lot.
“I spoke to Alex” he said at the end “I want to be present in the babies life, I want her to know me as much as possible. I don’t want her to be without a father”
“Charles you know you don’t have to, you don’t have to feel responsible for what happened, you don’t have to feel obligated, keeping the baby was my choice”
“I know I don’t have to do anything, but will you let me?”
For a moment you thought about it, the questions she’d have about her father, who he was, what he did, where was he. As much as you wanted to live in a bubble with your baby girl, away from what her life would look like split between two parent.
“You know what, you have a right to be in her life in you choose, but promise me you won’t hurt her Charles”
“Can I?” He asked before gently placing a hand on your stomach “I promise to do everything in my power to make her happy and safe”

Monaco Mayhem - Charles Leclerc x Reader
Plot: Charles finally breaks the dreadful Monaco curse to bring a home race win!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 2018 Charles was unlucky in Monaco, a virtual safety car came out on lap 73 when his left front brake disc failed just before the Nouvelle Chicane, causing him to crash into the back of Brendon Hartley.
In 2019 the ‘curse’ continued even though he was now in Ferrari, after a rough qualifying he began to fight through the field after starting in 15th place. You were so happy watching him having made it up to 12th by lap eight, but touched the inside wall at turn 17 during an overtake attempt on Nico Hülkenberg, which is always a risky move in Monaco. This contact caused a right-rear tyre puncture. Over the course of the next lap, you had watched, tears in your eyes for your boyfriend as he fell to last place as his tyre ripped apart and caused significant damage to the car's floor, causing him to be a while lap down by the time he came out of the pits.
In 2020, due to COVID restriction your boyfriend and the other 19 drivers weren’t racing on the historic circuit due to the strict regulations in place.
In 2021, first time in Monaco since COVID and the curse was still in place. After an incredible qualifying Charles was sitting in pole position. You both celebrated that night, so excited for the Sunday race. However whatever gods were watching over Monaco … or Charles or the ones who supported Max in getting his first world championship worked overtime that night, as Charles had a Did Not Start due to a driveshaft problem.
In 2022 it was the first year that you and Charles started having proper relationship issues. You’d just had a huge deal at work, which meant you weren’t able to come to as many races as you had been in previous years (where you basically went to all of them except a few that clashed with your schedule) and he was for the first time leading the drivers world championship, ahead of last year’s champion, Max. You were both stressed, and not around each other enough and it put a huge strain on your relationship.
However, you made sure to be at Monaco despite your huge argument at the last race in Spain.
He qualified on pole for the second year running and you were beaming for the hills. You were praying that nothing happened to the car overnight or in the race. However you clearly didn’t pray hard enough, with the shit show that came from team order.
Is it to pit or not too pit …
Well nobody fucking knew and you could hear over the radio how frustrating it was for Charles when he and Sainz ended up pitting at the same time due to miscommunication on the Ferrari pit wall.
This caused delays meaning both Verstappen and Perez got out ahead of them and left Charles not even on the podium.
In 2023, you and Charles had started communicating a lot better towards the end of the 2022 season and were a lot better off for it, meaning your relationship was never better despite Max’s (and Red Bulls) clear domination this season.
Monaco again was disappointing. But it was a hard race.
2023 despite being a uneventful year in Formula One, Charles had proposed to you, and you were set to get married after the Monaco Grand Prix of 2024, as there was a little bit of time before Canada to have the ceremony with some of Charles closest friends and family, who had tight and busy schedules.
So here you were waiting as Charlie, your fiancé … soon to be husband is sat in P1, Oscar … his son who you’d both famously adopted this weekend right next him.
You were nervous through the whole race despite how dull the race was. You were sat with Charles family, hugging Arthur from one side and Pascale from the other as you gasp at a tight corner that Charles got a little close for comfort over.
You were praying for your boyfriend to finally get his home race win and kiss the curse goodbye that had been held over his head for the last 5 years.
Tears are streaming down your eyes as you hear his race engineers comforting words in the last few laps where he’d made a pretty strong gap to the person behind him.
All of Ferrari was hyped for the man that had been with them for the last few years and had all developed strong bonds with the driver. They watched on as he completed his last laps, no errors to be seen. When he crosses the chequered flag, your launching yourself at anyone you can, not caring that you definitely resemble a watering can right now to the Sky Sports camera that you just know will be on you.
Your celebrating with the team who eventually drag you out to the park ferme area to go see him. And when you do, my god he looks ethereal. The sweat sheening around him, and how his hair still managed to look as though it had been styled by his mum this morning.
He was immaculate in your eyes. He celebrated with the team, hugging Carlos and Oscar, before settling his eyes on you.
“This one was for you, my love” he whispers in your ear lifting your up into a hug, a blush coating your face making you dive you head into his neck away from the faces and camera.
“I’m so so proud of you, you finally did it. I don’t even think you’ve just made every resident of Monaco happy but everyone watching was routing for you!” You smile before pulling him into a kiss.
“I love you so much, I - I can’t believe this feeling right now! I -“ he breathes struggling to find the words.
“Go get that P1 trophy … Mr Leclerc” you grin and he smiles back, a goofy expression on his face.
“And will Mrs Leclerc be watching …” he grins back and you can’t help but laugh.
“Still Miss Y/L/N until tomorrow honey” you smile and start to push him further away to where he’s being heckled over by Martin Brundle for his post race interview.
And you keep to your word, you watch with tears in your eyes as you hear the Monacan National anthem for the first time at an F1 race since 2022 and the way Charles looks in that podium is a real sight to see.
You know the photographers are rubbing their hands and licking their lips as they take the pictures right now knowing just how much cash they’ll get for these photos.
You watch on as he dedicates his trophy down to you, kissing it and then blowing you as kiss making you catch it and place it in your cheeks. (Once you just rolled your eyes at his childish antics … let’s just say you never ever missed an kiss again).
Later that night and you were celebrating his win with all of his and your friends. Lando, Pierre, Carlos and Max were all there with their partners who you were very close with, and later on you were joined by Oscar and Daniel and their girlfriends.
It was a full atmosphere with everyone coming up and congratulating him not only on the win, but wishing him luck and sending their congratulations for the wedding tomorrow. Two cakes were brought out … one for the win, one as a little preemptive wedding cake got tomorrow.
“Wait Y/N, Charles do you have separate parties before tomorrow?” Kika says shouting out over the loud music sounding around.
“What do you mean?” You ask her confused only for everyone to gasp.
“You mean to say you don’t have a bachelorette party, or Charles doesn’t have a stag due? I just thought i didn’t get an invite” Lando says a hand against his chest happy that he didn’t get left out.
“No?” You laugh, not seeing the big deal with it.
“Oh come on, it’s your last time to party single!” Rebecca laughs, shaking your shoulders a little.
“What?! I’m not single though, Charles is my fiancé. It would just be the last time to party when I’m not fully tied down, but … I mean it’s not like after we marry we’ll become an old couple that doesn’t come out with us” you offer and they all look at you.
“Do you see Sergio or K-Mag here? Or any of the married lot, even George and Alex bailed on tonight to be with their girls … you guys are next” Daniel argues and you and Charles look between each other in shock.
“Oh come on guys, we aren’t going to be like that” you whine.
After some more back and forth of arguing you guys all decide on some more drinks, but you Ane Charles have a wordless agreement that you wouldn’t become THAT couple after marriage.
You guys would still be fun right?

On This Day in F1: April 5
Present: Japan Day 1
History: 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix
I'm going to be honest, the time zone differences from Australia to China are screwing with my perception of when things are happening (and my sleep schedule). Especially since FP1 happened on Thursday night (before midnight) for me and FP3 will be on Friday night. So I've been all over the place since the Australian GP.
But in Japan on April 5th, 2024, FP1 and FP2 occurred. There wasn't much to talk about in FP1 except for Logan Sargeant crashing toward the latter half of the session and Will Buxton revealing that there were other teams that only had two chassis for the weekend. Alpine has confirmed that they are one of those teams.
(Sidenote: the plural of chassis is chassis but it's pronounced with a "z" at the end. So the singular is pronounced like "CHASS-ee" and the plural is pronounced like "CHASS-eez." The more you know, I guess.)
FP2 had even less to talk about. It was raining and more than half of the drivers didn't set a lap time. Briefly, Yuki Tsunoda was at the top of the timing charts with Daniel Ricciardo in second. But then Oscar Piastri set a faster lap with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finishing out the top 3.
2024 marks 10 years since Jules Bianchi crashed during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix and lost his life due to the injuries from his crash. In honor of Jules, Charles - Jules' godson - has a special helmet in Jules' colors and with his number 17 on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We tend to talk about Jules in relation to his crash, Charles, Daniel, or any other drivers he was friends with. While they are a piece of his story and he is a piece of their stories, we should also remember Jules for himself - for the things he did and loved. He scored his first points in Monaco and that was the first GP he'd attended as a child, he liked dark chocolate, the first meal he cooked wasn't good, his hero was Michael Schumacher because he was winning, etc.
Looking back to another rain-filled day, the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix took place on April 5th.
Tumblr media
Malaysia was the second race of the historic 2009 season - which does go to show how early we start the season now in comparison to the previous seasons.
Tumblr media
It should have been 56 laps of racing, but due to torrential rain, drivers were only able to complete 31 classified laps. This did not meet the 75% minimum distance completed for full points to be awarded. Therefore, half points were awarded to drivers. The race had been stopped on lap 33 and was not later resumed due to the darkness. Lap 31 was the penultimate full lap and was the one used to determine classifications per sporting regulations.
Half points are very rarely awarded. Malaysia 2009 was the fifth time in F1 history that it had happened (the 4th time had been the 1991 Australian GP). And it didn't happen again until the 2021 Belgian GP.
Jenson Button, driving for Brawn GP, was declared the winner of the Grand Prix as he started the race on pole position and was the race leader for lap 31.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nick Heidfeld driving for BMW Sauber finished second and Timo Glock driving for Toyota finished third. Heidfeld was the first driver with a KERS-equipped car to take a podium position.
Tumblr media
Since Jenson had won the 2009 Australian Grand Prix as well, Brawn GP became the first team since Alfa Romeo in 1950 to win the first two World Championship Grands Prix of the season.

Round XII - Silverstone, Great Britain 🇬🇧
Hello and welcome to Great Britain! 🇬🇧
Football might not be making it's way home this summer, but Formula One definitely did. 74 years after the first lights out in Silverstone, we went racing again. And it was bound to be amazing from the start. A British 1-2-3 on the grid (the first time in GB, second time ever) meant for a great race start. But, by the end of the race, the British magic had wavered. George Russell, starting on pole, ended up DNF'ing following an issue with his car, and Lando Norris fell down the order to a mix up with strategy.
But, undeniably, and whether you love or hate him, Lewis Hamilton (definitely one of the all time greats of the sport) ended his winless drought, winning his 9th race at his home track, the most wins at any track by a single driver. It is also his 104th career race win, his 15th podium at the track, and he became the oldest race winner of the 21st Century, at 39 years and 182 days old. So, an all round solid performance from an F1 veteran.
Another race veteran, Fernando Alonso - alongside Lance Stroll - overturned Aston Martin's recent bad fortune. A P7 for Lance and P8 for Fernando was the step in the right direction needed, following both men failing to score in the past two Grand Prix. It seems as if their new upgrade package was the boost needed to strongly end a difficukt triple header.
However, it wasn't all smiles in Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire on Sunday. Ever since his historical win at home in Monaco, Charles Leclerc has been in a downward spiral, mostly due to the lack of competence at Ferarri. In the last four races, he has only managed to score points once. For a driver of his capability, he should easily be finishing in the points every race. But when the team don't make the right calls when the rain falls, no wealth of experience will help you.
And when rock legend Brian May swung the chequered flag on Sunday, the 2024 season reached it's half way point. 12 down, 12 to go, and a hell of a lot of points to play for (1,224 to be precise). Until we meet again in Hungary in two weeks..
Goodbye for now! 🇬🇧

F1 | 2023 calendar: 24 GPs, with Monaco, Ricard and Spa in the balance
Next season Formula is planning 24 events, with only eight races in Europe. Among those in debate are Monte Carlo, Paul Ricard and Spa-Francorchamps. To remain in the F1 Circus, the Principality must renounce many privileges, while Spa can hope to remain in the loop if South Africa were to appear only starting from 2024, if China should decide to reopen its borders.
The 2023 season calendar has begun to take shape. There are still no official communications, but the rumors that have leaked in the last few weeks are starting to be precise. It starts with the number of races, which will be twenty-four, of which only eight will be held in Europe.  Six Grands Prix already have a contract (Monza, Imola, Silverstone, Hungaroring, Barcelona and Zandvoort) while the contract with the Red Bull Ring seems destined for a renewal, which should be announced shortly.
At the moment, three races remain in the balance (Monte Carlo, Paul Ricard and Spa-Francorchamps), engaged in a final rush knowing that the FIA and Liberty Media have only one slot available. The favorite venue to remain on the calendar is Monaco, but on condition that the local Automobile Club agrees to align itself with the contracts imposed on all the other promoters, which is equivalent to paying an economic contribution in line with the other historic Grand Prix, as well as the sale total advertising signage on the track.
For Liberty Media, it is a matter of embarrassment to see brands, who are in competition with each other, being listed as sponsors of the world championship. A glaring example is Rolex which in Monaco found itself flanked by TagHeuer, as the brand had closed an agreement with the local promoter.
Monaco will also have to accept other conditions, such as giving up its television production and letting the Liberty Media staff take over (the company produces all the other races in the world championship), as well as granting some compromise on the date of the race weekend, another fixed point for decades with the untouchable last weekend of May.
After years of enjoying great privileges, Monaco doesn't have much to put on the table today, and that's what Spa-Francorchamps promoters are hoping for. The Belgian organizers have completed a substantial series of works to address critical issues that have emerged in recent years, and it is certainly not good news for those who manage the track to have to consider a calendar without Formula 1. But all is not lost, and there is. it's actually another situation that could play in Spa's favor: Kyalami.
Compared to this season, the 2023 calendar includes four more Grands Prix. These are two returns (Qatar and China), the newly announced Las Vegas, plus another new-entry which could be the South African Grand Prix.
Two weeks ago Stefano Domenicali visited the Kyalami circuit - it was assumed that Domenicali was there to check the infrastructure and if an announcement could be made shortly. If, on the other hand, the return to South Africa is postponed to 2024, Spa's chances will once again be greater, a scenario that could further improve (for the Belgian promoter) if China should opt to not re-open its borders in time for the Chinese Grand Prix.
Translation from this article - any mistakes are sorely mine etc. etc.
