Side blog for Indycar, wrc, motogp, etc. F1 lost me when Trump was invited into the paddock at the 2024 Miami GP. Please take everything I say lightly, these are just games we play to distract us from the horrors of life and eventuality of death.

Peugeot 405 Turbo 16 Group S Prototype, 1987. Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the rally version of the Pininfarina-designed 405 had coupé bodywork and a mid-mounted 1.9 litre engine driving all 4 wheels. The cancellation of Group S meant the car never rallied in this form. However the GR (Grand Raid) version went on to be successful at both Pikes Peak and in successive Paris Dakar events

I didn't actually think anyone really liked will buxton? I find him grating and annoying, and really just far too into the sound of his own voice.
But id say 90% of the comments are thrilled to have him commentating on indycar?
There are definitely worse commentators (david croft, ted kravitz, ben edwards, etc), but there are definitely better options....

it would be great if f1 brought back refueling. Indycar does it perfectly safely. Last fire I can really recall (e.g. kinda had the general decade and driver and had to look it up) is 2009. But it seems like they solved the issue by improving the interlock and then just spraying a little bit of water on the car as it pulls away.
Refueling adds so much strategy and excitement. And has an added effect of allowing engineers to design their cars to operate in a smaller weight window. This improves ride and tire consistency, and means porpoising would not be as much of an issue.
It would also mean they wouldn't have to pull the car into the garage and go thru like 5 minutes of procedures to refuel every time.
Would make qualifying way better, too. And starting on the fuel load you qualify on would bring back that intrigue between Saturday and Sunday, to find out what everyone was running.

Like f1 needs ANY MORE endplates shredding tires or falling apart (which apparently require a full 10 lap safety car intervention to remove).
These are going to kill a tire changer during a botched pit stop lol...
Just make the cars smaller and lighter, reduce traction and aero, ditch ground effects and drs, and people will be happy.
(picture from a good article about the new regs https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/gary-anderson-f1-2026-cars-wont-look-like-you-or-the-fia-expect/)
