#Momo thinks she's got her brothers handled

Hi Sapphic
Who are your 10 favourite MHA characters?
OKAYY SOOO HERE
Ochako (she's my princess, I adore her, she has so much potential and could have been honed better, but all in all I adore her, she's a cutie.)
Momo (Momo used to be my number one but I guess that since I actually have to put character for her to be my number one)
Jirou (She's in my top, I loved her back in 2020 but she kinda got overrated but that never stopped me from liking her, I like ber musical aligned backstory I'm sad about the missing jack though, I love hero too)
Shoto (Cutie, I love him throughout his journey I have Todoroki rewritten in my thoughts so I love him even more, I think he deserves better, he never really stood out to me then but he's come around.)
Tsu, I like her now, I mean she's cool, her abilities are cool and her episodes are just as interesting, she tries to be responsible and sweet at the same time and I adore that, but I never really cared for her until This year.
Hagakure, I didn't like her at all, I always thought she was the traitor or at least the traitor in charge because I wouldn't put it past anyone to do it or accuse her but she's beautiful and an absolute sweetheart, I relate to her more now I just didn't like her that much.
Mina, It came with the 2020 thing, I didn't like the bakusquad or anything and I iust didn't care much for Mina as I do sort of now, I don't hate her, she never stood out to me, which is weird because she's adorable but I think it's her design that I don't like and that'd make sense since I like to look at an appearance and be interested.
Nejire, another princess except she was done dirty and I think her story ending should be in hell, why give Nejire a story later on only to give her a beauty pageant where as her male Bestfriends, counterparts, EQUALS got back stories and how they trust in each other so much and one looks up to the other.
Ibara Shiozaki, I love her I think the fact she's only a comedic character who has a cool ass ability, cool vibe, is only used for being a side character to get handled by other characters, I think it's fucking stupid, she's AMAZING and could have been done amazing, but noooo
Fuyumi, I don't like how she has to be the only one wanting to accept her father and be a family with him along with their mom who was abused and her baby brother who was physically abused and her brothers who were neglected and one was dead by being neglected and I think it's annoying because why is Fuyumi the only one who wants to play savior in the family only for this part of her to be given to Shoto instead, it's stupid, absolutely stupid, stop making Fuyumi have to be so I wanna help my family only to not be the hero of said family, give actual motivation, actual reason aside from wanting to be a normal family, it makes her look annoying to those who hate Endeavor and think she's trying to advocate for him instead of her just wanting to be around a normal family, why not show an episode, we are told how she feels but just because she feels this way we're never given actual insight.

More season 1 thoughts
I like Katara better in the second half of the season than the first. I found her less annoying. Is that because she has evened out as a character, or is that because there was less of her? I don't know. I'd love to see a quantitative analysis of the number of lines per character per episode. Still, Katara handled the whole Pakku problem with fewer explosions than when she was handling the pirates and the waterbending scroll, and you can argue that the Pakku stuff was much more of a direct attack on her, so I'm going to call her reduced annoyingness growth.
Poor Sokka has been consistently my favourite character since episode one, and that hasn't changed at all. He just got royally stomped on in a way specifically designed to cause as much pain to him personally as possible in the finale, and I'll be interested to see if that causes any long term change. My boy is good at repression, so I doubt there will be obvious change, but this show is good at gradual stealth character growth. I'm looking forward to trying to ferret out the subtle changes to him in season 2.
Aang is lovely. I think he appears to be the least changed of our main cast at first glance, but like Sokka, I expect that getting used/possessed/actively participating in mega fishman destruction in the finale is going to have some effect on him (Still not clear on exactly who possessed whom / who was in control. Don't know if I'll ever know, or if it really matters). Aang is a lovable island of fun in a sea of century old war trauma. When he's not being stupid because he's 12, he's being consistently kind and open hearted, with an unshakable core and sense of self. Congrats to Gyatso on raising such a self-possessed boy. And you know what? He's entitled to stupid 12 year old moments because he is 12.
Poor Yue. Kind of a one note character at first glance, but because she's a mirror of Sokka, she feels just as deep as he does. That's clever writing.
Appa continues to be both team transportation and team dad. I think Sokka is team mom. Katara may be feminine, but it's Sokka who's keeping them fed and going in vaguely the right direction. He's the practical one. While Katara's or Aang's actions often drive the story, it's Sokka who's on clean up duty to make sure that the impulsive and bighearted decisions made by his sister and adopted brother blow up in their faces as little as possible.
I am convinced that Momo has no awareness of the main quest. I think Appa knows that his human and his human's friends are trying to save the world. I think Momo knows that these humans and their big furry thing feed him and keep him warm while going to lots of different places.
I loved that the season finale couldn't be predicted. The end game that the show set up was a showdown with the firelord. I expected that the firelord would make his first appearance in the season finale. Instead, we get a conflict I didn't see coming in a location I had honestly forgotten we were going to. Even if you had watched episodes 1 through 17, could you predict the conflict and location of the finale beyond something something fire nation? I like that I couldn't predict it. Too often shows spend so much time building up to the season showdown that it's almost anti-climactic because you've pretty much guessed the shape that the conflict will take. Not this show.
I think my favourite episode of the second half of this season is Bato of the Water Tribe. I loved having a glimpse into non-war water tribe life. It gives us a look at what it is that the people fighting the fire nation are fighting to preserve/get back. It also gives us a rough outline of the kind of person Sokka and Katara's dad is, which surprisingly adds a lot to Sokka's characterisation. And I love an episode where Sokka gets the A plot. The fight scene was really entertaining to watch, although I do feel sorry for June's big beast.
I think the best (as in the most skillfully executed) episode in the second half of the season is probably The Blue Spirit. It's a character episode disguised as an action episode, and not to get too much into fanfic speculative territory, but I feel like it lays groundwork for a couple of possible paths for the characters that certainly weren't available to them before. Also I love the melancholy note it ends on. I don't like unhappy endings as a rule, but I make an exception for contemplative endings, like the Southern Air Temple, the Summer Solstice Part 2, and the Blue Spirit.
I find I prefer the 'problem of the week' type episodes more than the episodes that serve the larger plot, because honestly I just want to hang out with these guys. High stakes adventures are both important and necessary, but it's also cool to have a problem presented and solved in 23 minutes. I feel like the characters act more like people and less like servants of the plot when they're in 'monster of the week' type episodes.
There were fewer eye-poppingly beautiful episodes in the second half of the season, although the Deserter's forest and fireworks festival was nice. The finale was downright bland, but you can't have lush multicoloured foliage at the north pole. I am so thankful that the show doesn't go for that stupid grimdark aesthetic that movies are still struggling with.
Finally, a word on the blasphemous live action that definitely doesn't exist:
Some of the greatest parts of this show are the gorgeously colourful eyepopping backgrounds, the very well thought out combination of bending and cartoon physics, and Sokka's stupid faces. You know what a live action can't do? Any of those things. So really, why did they even try? I can't think of a show, a world, a story, that is more suited to the artistic liberties and conventions of animation.

It’s time for some quilt posting!
I visited my family in Alberta last week and was determined to spend some quality time not sweating my ass about my inbox. (Being on satellite internet helped a lot.) And come hell or high water I was going to finish something.
I set out to finish handquilting the giant beast I have— thinking I would just post up on the back porch and stare at the ground squirrels while working— but that was not in the cards. Because my mother has been learning to quilt as well.
You see, my mom has been learning quilting in fits and starts over the years. A table runner here, a rag quilt there, but not really a focused effort beyond making someone a gift or destashing the mountain of polar fleece she has on hand from making us kids clothes in the nineties and early aughts.
It wasn’t until my severely burnt out and depressed self came home for Christmas this past year and asked her to teach me to quilt that she also decided to learn conventional piecing quilting. She wasn’t able to teach me, but she shared her craftsy login with me and we stared down a bunch of YouTube videos together. She also drove me through the icy Alberta freeze to the quilt shop in Canmore and gave me two sizeable lengths of fabric she’d taken in from my Oma to bind and back the Frankie and Momo quilt I made in January.
Since then, she’s been motoring along on quilting projects and gifts at the rate that could only be maintained by a retiree determined to destash her, my grandmother and my oma’s lifetimes of built up fabrics. My mom, also being one of the rare people in this world with an honest-to-god pension, learns any new hobby by buying gadgets and toys for the hobby.
This is all to say: My mom has an accuquilt. This is a little crank power fabric die-cutting machine that is very very cool. And after using it to zoom through the cutting for a little sawtooth star block I got it in my head that I could probably do a simple start-to-finish quilt while I was visiting. (I wanted to play with the toy more)
(Yes I know that this is very silly and wiggly, but I was testing things and goofing around so be nice)
So it was off to that Canmore quilt shop again, in much nicer weather. And I dug out some coordinating colours from their sale section for blocks, backing and binding for less than thirty bucks. I then fed all the twoonie priced fat quarters through the diecutter and wound up with more than sixty charm squares in about half an hour.
That’s pretty fast— all my cutting at home happens on a coffee table and wrecks my back. She’s also got one of those fancy Stripology rulers so I was able to cut my entire binding in literal seconds. It’s witchcraft.
Put together a simple repeating layout and we were off to the races!
My mother also has a fancy new sewing machine with a start-stop button, thread cutter and more feed dogs than god. So I was able to zip through assembly WAY faster than on my ancient hand-me-down brother machine from the eighties. (Who I still love)
The whole quilt top was together before I knew it, and I’m getting less and less clumsy with my corners every time I do this so I was really happy. Used a Hera marker to make guides for the quilting, which surprised me by how well it held up to handling. I can probably recreate the effect with a clean butter knife at home!
Quilted the whole thing in rush and sewed the binding on in the car on our way to and from dinner. I somehow managed to not get carsick doing it too, it’s astounding. Im really happy with the results even though it’s a very simple design. This is the fastest I’ve done a whole little blanket like this and I’m glad I got so lucky with the sale fabrics available.
(Lucy also gave her approval once we got home yesterday, even though she wasn’t there to supervise.)
#quilting#beginner#trying to do some longer form blogging to see if I like it?#anyway this quilt will hopefully be something I can sit with when I’m wishing for a vacation#a happy place

hiii, yaya here ( she/her ). back with a slightly revamped rendition of silver. don’t worry, she’s still mother but there’s a few changed details to reflect the fc change. as always, click the heart and we can plot. <3
— look who’s joining the infinite tour! only NINOMAE AIKO (SILVER), who is the LEADER of FLORA. i’ve heard whispers that the 28 year old is pretty RESILIENT but lowkey ABRASIVE. also, doesn’t she remind you of HIRAI MOMO?
ABOUT — PROFILE — PINTEREST — PLOTS
UPBRINGING
ninomae aiko was born smack in the middle of five children, two older brothers and two younger brothers. she was raised in a financially comfortable and very loving household.
considering how conservative japan can be, the neighborhood found aiko’s family a bit unorthodox. her mother was the primary breadwinner of their family, working in tokyo as an attorney. due to the commute from their hometown of nikko to the capital, her mother typically stayed in the city for the week, only to return home on weekends to spend time with her children. meanwhile, her father stayed at home with the children. the ninomae’s familial dynamics seemed strange to others. but for aiko, she grew up thinking that was the norm — a woman in control of her life, a woman who could have it all.
being surrounded by her father and brothers constantly meant that aiko grew up incredibly tomboyish. she loved to cut her hair really short, wear her brothers’ too big hand me downs, and carried herself with a natural toughness. she didn’t need her brothers fighting any battles for her; she could handle it herself.
since aiko had so much energy, her father thought it would be good to put her in ballet lessons to learn discipline and focus. she started at the age of seven. at first, she resented the lessons, rejecting what she thought to be a “girly” activity. she wanted to spend her free time, playing outside with her brothers out in the dirt. but once aiko finally gave dancing a real chance, she realized that she loved it — plus, her natural born competitiveness made it easy for her. aiko began to expand to different dance styles as she grew older.
at the age of fifteen, she got noticed at a dance competition in tokyo by an executive over at new star entertainment. they were in town to scout japanese trainees for their upcoming girl group. they offered aiko an audition.
she auditioned with a self-choreographed piece to telephone by lady gaga and beyoncé. she was accepted into new star in january 2011 and after an emotional goodbye to her family, aiko moved to seoul to start training.
TRAINEE YEARS
aiko entered the company building with one simple mantra — she will debut. knowing there was only one slot (if that) for a japanese member, she made every moment count. she had too much pride to ever be one of the girls sent home every month. due to this ambition, aiko often carried an intimidating, cutthroat aura about herself.
she wasn't an actively malicious soul, but she was unapologetic. and if someone's feelings got hurt because of her words and actions, it wasn't likely for her to apologize. despite her foreign background, the company was impressed by the tenacity and confidence that aiko carried herself with at such a young age. her intelligence and hunger made her a viable candidate for the leader position for the future girl group.
realizing she had a genuine shot of making the final lineup, aiko doubled down on her studies in both korean and english. she knew the key to an ideal idol was the ability to communicate globally — so she made sure she wasn't lacking in the department.
even before she was officially deemed the leader, aiko's later years of training usually involved her taking charge of the monthly evaluations and even participating in the choreography. her approach with the other female trainees was strict but came from a place of genuine passion and love. she was pinning all of her hopes and dreams on the success of this group, and she would do anything to make sure they did well.
the additional members of flora really helped her come into her womanhood. it was her first time being surrounded by women, which was drastically different than her childhood with a household full of guys. through building a sisterly community while training, aiko got a better sense of her style and mannerisms. her initially tough, tomboy nature got sandpapered down into an elegant, severe kind of femininity.
MUSICAL CAREER — death tw
after 3.5 years of training, aiko debuted with flora as leader, main dancer, lead rapper, and lead vocalist as her official positions. her stage name “silver” is inspired by the meaning of her name — 'sharp as a sword'. ever since her debut, she actually prefers to be called silver over aiko.
the public opinion of silver was initially lukewarm, with many neitzens wondering if a foreign member was the best choice as leader of a highly anticipated girl group. dahlias quickly warmed to her due to her strong dance skills and off-camera magnetism.
while silver acknowledges her performing positions, she takes her role as leader the most serious of all. from day one, it's evidently shown that she would not hesitate to go to war for her members. them being comfortable and happy is most important. dahlias call her “mama lion” for her bold and fierce care over flora, which is where her representative emoji (🦁) originated from.
she refuses to do aegyo. in fact, she will show absolute disgust at any aegyo.
silver is known for having a professional poker face and has never once been seen crying publicly for all to see. she saves those moments for when she’s in her room back at the flora dorm, by herself.
she always keeps it real with dahlias. while she loves them and appreciates their support, she is big on setting boundaries and doesn’t encourage the parasocial dynamic of being the idol the way others may.
on stage, she can execute the light feminine concept that comes along with flora but her offstage energy is much darker.
death tw // mid 2018, silver got a call that no one would ever want to get. her second youngest brother yuta was driving home from a party with his friends when he was struck by a drunk truck driver. he died instantly at the far too young age of nineteen. the news devastated silver and she immediately rushed back home to be with her family. new star announced to the world that silver would be taking a temporary hiatus for “undisclosed reasons”.
the only problem was that flora was at its peak after the immense success of yes or yes and silver’s absence meant that she would not participate in the best thing i ever did comeback or promote flora’s second japanese album. this incited the ire of neitzens, demanding to know the real reason why silver wasn’t active. rumors went rampant: rehab, a dating scandal, bullying accusations. k-pop fans weren’t satisfied until they knew the truth.
silver wanted to keep her family matters private for a reason, but unfortunately, they didn’t. a week after her hiatus was announced, a sasaeng uploaded pictures of silver crying at her brother’s funeral for the world to see. dahlias did all they could to try to take the private content down but it wasn’t long before outlets were reporting on the news. suddenly, a thing that silver wanted to keep between her and her family became a gross exploitation for millions to consume.
on top of that, new star was pushing her to come back to flora before she was ready. they only wanted to give her a three month hiatus, but she demanded six instead. once the six month period was over, silver still didn’t feel healed enough to be active again but the company did not care. flora desperately needed its leader. so, silver returned to seoul in time for fancy preparations.
safe to say, 2018 broke silver. not only was her privacy invaded by people who were supposed to care for her, but she felt like new star didn’t have her back. suddenly, this world she loved and wanted to be a part of for so long was something more sinister to her now. the walls were up and silver became more harsher and volatile, instead of the untroubled and rational person she’d once been.
she didn’t shield the change in her from anyone. in fact, she wanted people to see. she grew a reputation around the industry for being resentful and intense and even dahlias began to notice her personality shift. they lamented over the loss of the old silver, making youtube compilations and twitter threads for views and likes over the change in her personality. silver despises those kind of ‘fans’ most of all.
in the aftermath, silver’s now considered a bit of a hot topic in the k-pop industry. her appeal in the korea has declined while her appeal in the international space has inclined over the years. global fans tend to love her, call her “mother”, and think her idgaf approach is refreshing. however, those closer to home find her off-putting. neitzens can see that she clearly no longer wants to be an idol and tarnishes flora as a household name in result.
they’re kind of right. silver has fallen out of love with being an idol after everything. she hates this industry and its expectations with a burning passion now. but she refuses to leave it because that would mean leaving her members to the wolves. absolutely not. silver refuses what happened to her to happen to them. this industry wasn’t kind to her, so she refuses to be kind to them. even after the infinite merger, she hasn’t toned down a bit.
at the end of the day, she’s in this for as long as the other flora members want to be it. she owes them that much for getting her through her hardest of times. but in the meantime ? silver’s ready to be a fucking problem.
TOUR
if silver had it her way, she wouldn't have done a tour. but obviously, that decision was out of her hands. as a part of flora, she embarked on infinite's mega world tour. while she will never complain about the chance to travel with her members, the performing side of tour was agonizing for silver. she received a lot of backlash from fans because of her 'declining' stage presence and lack of engagement while on tour.
during tour, silver was approached by infinite about a solo debut. it wasn't the first time they've asked her — but she's declined every time. however this time, they were more insistent than ever after noticing the massive success of the maknae's solo debut. silver, realizing she had some leverage, eventually agreed with one simple condition: she got creative control. if she was finally going to give the company what they wanted, it would be with her ideas and under her terms. infinite was initially hesitant but eventually relented, allowing silver to debut with a much darker concept than flora.
CURRENTLY
silver released her solo debut '28 reasons' in october 2023. much like her as a person, the project was met with divisive reviews. there was praise surrounding the dark concept and bravery to try something different. but for those hoping for more of flora's signature sound, the album was disappointing. silver doesn't care about charts or reviews. for once in a really long time, she was proud as fuck of something in her idol career.
don't ask her for a solo comeback though, infinite. that was that.
ever since the end of tour and her solo promotions, silver's been pretty off the grid if there's no schedule for flora activities. she's been traveling and enjoying the much needed break after such an exhausting past couple of years.
she's lowkey considering therapy (shocker). ever since losing her brother, she hasn't wanted to open that can of worms. the idea of talking to someone about her feelings makes her skin want to crawl. however, her brothers have all started to go recently to deal with their grief and have encouraged silver to do the same.
TIDBITS
personality: resilient, abrasive, self-assured, confrontational, decisive, rebellious, shrewd, mature, vindictive
aesthetics: black coffee, profanity, winged eyeliner, restless nights, thunderstorms, lipstick stains, lace
is a proud mean lesbian ( please see: santana lopez, monet de haan, leighton murray, cheryl blossom, etc )
veryyyy sparse on social media. her stans are begging for content from the other members of flora. however when she does decide to pop in, weverse is her usual choice of social media. at least on weverse, the content she shares is more likely to be reached by REAL dahlias and dahlias only. you'll only ever see her in the promotional content on instagram, tiktok, and twitter otherwise.
hasn’t done an individual live in two years. she only does lives if she's doing them with nari and/or yani.
does not initiate skinship but accepts skinship from her loved ones

gege fridging yuki and now tsumiki. shoko, utahime, mei mei, momo, miwa disappering from the plot and now i dont think nobara is coming back after reading the newest chapter which would mean that her death was handled horribly 💀💀💀
i genuinely dont understand whats going on in jjk anymore tbh either like i stopped reading after 208 and your blog was how i found out about the tsumiki thing 😭😭 i wish gege wouldve atleast utilized her in the past chapters if the plan was to kill her because the impact just. isnt there. and like what was the point of yorozu??????? to show us that sukuna is strong?????????🤔 i will actually be surprised if gege turns all of this around but honestlyyyyyyy 😬 (1/2)
its a shame that gege doesnt know how to include female characters into the plot anymore because theyre all just interesting and have wayy too much potential.
like the idea of a character who only cares about money and could go as far to exploit their own sibling like mei mei or someone like shoko who is one of the few/only people in the world who can use rct to heal people (the fact that she was in the same class with the 2 strongest sorcerers in the world and she was never shown to be afraid of them or take their shit) or someone like yuki who was the first special grade in their generation and also an spv??? (if this had been revealed during HI arc the drama would increase tenfold...) OR TSUMIKI omg this one frustrates me so muchhh like she had SO SO SO MUCH BUILD UP AND FOR WHAT??? this girl had to get into the role of a parent for her younger brother because toji sold him and left them and her mother abandoned them and left. SHE IS ELDEST DAUGHTER CODED (so much so that her perspective and feelings during a traumatic situation are never explored because shes fine if shes hardworking and doesnt complain *cough*minari*cough*) imagine going through all of this at such a young age and having to adapt constantly and pick up the pieces alone because the have to keep living. like if megumi was too young to be going through all of that SO WAS SHE????? she deserved wayyyyyy better i could go on for hours about this but. yeah 😭😭😭 basically theyre all characters who've got their own agendas and it wouldve been so much better if already existing characters had been explored rather than 1098274 new characters being introduced. i miss plant trio. nobara balanced out fushiguro's emo angstyness by bullying him. oh well atleast we have maki 😍😍😍 (2/2)
no i agree with you 100% jjk had so much potential to have active and important female characters with agency in the beginning of the manga where akutami was still tying characters into world building. i think that made people (like me) hopeful for a deconstruction of gender norms and dynamics in the jujutsu world that would propel the female characters forward instead of letting them stay one dimensional but it looks as if that's what ended up happening anyway. once again i don't think akutami is intentionally sidelining them if that means anything i just think his planning and organization is off (not enough time given to develop characters other than megumi and yuuji) and that he bit off more than he could choose (having a large cast of characters). which is such a shame bc he could be doing so much more with them!!! like the narrative giving shoko the spotlight for like 2 seconds isn't even a step in the right direction it's the bare minimum!!! it's something we should've gotten during the shibuya arc!!!
also yes. i will die mad about yuki tsukumo and tsumiki. they could've been saved idc idc killing off one of the strongest female characters in your series is just plain WRONG. and tsumiki deserved to live my god.......NOT ANGEL. TSUMIKI. AGHHHHHHHH.
#stop saying akutami writes amazing female characters he doesn't he wrote ONE.#and that's because she was most relevant to the plot#im still mad over that fight i got onto with that girl on tiktok about akutami writing the best female characters#'just because they're underutilized doesn't mean they're badly written' YES IT DOES. can u stop sucking akutami's toes maybe#jjk.talk

Another great chapter of 19 Days:
We got some good family dynamics going on
Auntie re-emerges after several months of being MIA. I wonder what she does for a living? She seems too mischievous to simply remain in hiding like an obedient rich man's daughter
Mama Mo came in clutch, yet again, with the comfort meal. Momo you better keep your promise to her! You gotta stop worrying her to death!! I just know she wasn't fooled by that 'staying with He Tian' call
Grandpapi Yi calls to check in on his grandson. The whole time he's on the phone w/ He Cheng, I'm like, "Don't send Jian Yi away! This wasn’t even about him. He was just being a good (stupid) friend"
Then we have He Cheng. Can we talk about how he downplayed our 4 year slow-burn angst 😭
You mean the same fight where Jian Yi was left bleeding out and a guy was almost impaled by a pole? Yeah, just some scuffle between kids. And what do you mean you'll "handle it?"
So then it got me thinking: This only solidifies my HC! 🧐
Realistically, He Cheng just wanted his brother to settle the score with She Li and move on from his murderous rage. However, my delusional self is now thinking:
So he hides She Li's identity from the boss under the guise of a schoolyard scuffle, so he's able to recruit the troublemaker. What better way to keep this nuisance off his brother's radar than to keep the snake under his thumb? He can't bother Mo if he's too busy being He Cheng's errand boy.
Whatever’s going to happen to that kid, I'm just glad it led to this 😊

The Anime I Watched in 2022
I really got into watching anime this year! Previously, I had been content to just use Funimation and Crunchyroll's free tiers and just wait a week for new episodes. But with the merger, and Crunchyroll's declaration that new shows would no longer be available at all to free users, I grit my teeth and got a premium subscription. (Hot tip, Crunchyroll - PROFILES. For the love of God, add separate profiles to an account. I share with my brother in law because he shares lots of streamers with us and it's the least we can do, but our tastes in anime are VERY different - he loves boxing/fighting/sports anime and I'm all like iyashikei/girls doin' stuff/idol anime lol.
ANYWAY. I have made great use of this paid account this year. According to my Anime Planet account, I watched 14 shows this year (ok actually 13 because it counts both cours/seasons of Spy x Family as separate shows) and I am going to reflect on each of them below.
Winter 2022
My Dress-Up Darling: Oh, this definitely belongs in the small group of shows I watched that fumbled the bag, that messed up their interesting concept somehow. In the case of Dress-Up, it's...you know. The fanservice. The blatant and inescapable male gaze on these characters, who are all minors. When they introduced the sisters, one of whom is very tall and large-chested and the other of whom is very short and small-chested, I almost tapped out then because I knew it just wasn't going to go well. And I was right! It didn't!
Here! Here's a great video by The Anime Tea that talks about this issue. It got age restricted a while ago, which should tell you everything you need to know about this show - even just criticism of it that shows clips from it is enough to make Youtube go "whoa, this is only for adults."
They almost tried to handle the idea of teenage sexuality well (I recall a scene of Marin on the train reflecting on Gojo's grandpa assuming they were going to have sex and she's like "Would it be so awful if we did?" Like, no, dear, it wouldn't! Not if you both know what you want, talk about it, consent, stay safe, all that good stuff) and then they did that love hotel episode instead. ROBLOX OOF DOT MP3 10 HOURS BASS BOOSTED
Also, I just kinda didn't like how it talked about cosplay. It's like hey you can do cosplay! Yeah! But only if you modify your body to look exactly like the character! Shave your eyebrows! Bind your chest! DO BLACKFACE oh god I had forgotten about the blackface I'm going to just go outside and yell for a minute
so uhhh yeahhhh that wasn't great
the ending song is fun tho
Spring 2022
This was when I got the paid subscription lol
Aharen-san wa Hakarenai: This is hands down my favorite anime of the year. The characters are just so silly and goofy and charming and relatable. I kinda wish they had localized the name of the show so it could be a bit easier to recommend, but once I learned that hakarenai literally means indecipherable, I see that was probably a creative decision BY the localizer(s) - gosh if only they weren't rendered anonymous by NDAs/a lack of crediting, I think it would be cool to follow them on social media and see if they did a like "behind the anime" where they talk about that - and I appreciate that.
There were a couple of random and unnecessary segments with dieting and weight gain/loss discussion that could have been left on the cutting room floor, but that's literally the only bad thing I can think of. (Okay, Momo-chan-sensei was kind of A Bit Much, lol.) There's even a lovely moment with Aharen's little brother wearing her clothes and worrying about if she might be angered by it, but she reassures him and welcomes it.
My husband started watching this with me because we do physically resemble Aharen and Raidou in that I am a foot shorter than him...and he loved it! Especially when the teacher takes everyone camping and just casually drifts the hell out of her Honda minivan, smiling while all the students scream in fear. The camping episodes were very sweet. It all worked out well in the end. I started playing claw games at Round1 because of this show. I'm actually kind of good at them - I won six plushies one time.
If nothing else, please just watch this one credits scene to get an idea of the vibe.
Spy x Family (also in Fall 2022): I mean, what's to say that hasn't already been said? It's great! I recall the first couple of episodes felt a bit off to me, tone-wise - like alternately too rushed and too slow? idk - but then it found its stride. I love Yor. I love Anya. I love the Cold War Germany setting. My husband likes to watch this show with me now, to the point that I'm still sitting on last week's episode so we can watch together. I've heard the German dub is really good but haven't checked it out yet.
Deaimon: A very pretty looking show that focuses on an ugly topic - trauma - with abandoned child finding and bonding with a new family while still pining for her old one. I learned a lot about wagashi from this show and I like how it didn't end with everything all tied up in a pretty little bow. That feels more realistic. Much as we may have wanted Itsuka to have a teary reunion with her dad and for everything to happily fade to black, that's not what real life is like.
Also I literally only just learned that Maaya Sakamoto did the opening theme?! How did I not notice that lol I was truly just going to the show's Anime News Network page to refresh my memory about how the season ended. Wow, a theme song by one of the GOATs of anison!
Healer Girl: A magical girl show that isn't grimdark!!! In fact, it's wholesome and uplifting! The idea of a world where singing can heal people, and is used alongside Western or Eastern medicine for patient care, just hooked me in from episode 1. I'm not a big musical person, but if you are, I think you will especially appreciate the times when, like, the girls all sing instead of just having a spoken conversation. The songs are very pretty. I love how it came full circle with Kana both being healed and doing healing on a plane. Just the perfect encapsulation of like, hey, you studied hard, you got licensed, you can do this thing now, and you do it, and you feel like you're on top of the world.
I definitely recommend this one too.
Heroines Run the Show: Oh look! Another show that fumbled the bag!! The concept sounded very fun, I liked the character of Hiyori so much, the two idol guys she worked with were annoying but in an "ugh will you two just kiss already" kind of way...and then they were like hey! What if we have a character so devoted and delusional that she blackmails her friend, and literally physically hurts her, because she is proximate to her faves? And what if we made the narrative decision that she was in the RIGHT to have done so? And what if all of that stuff is easily forgiven, wrapped up in a pretty little bow, like 1.5 episodes later? THAT was when I was like okay this sucks!
Love Live Nijigasaki Season 2: Niji is my absolute favorite iteration of Love Live, so of COURSE I was going to love this, and I very certainly did. I wish they could've given us a R3BIRTH song in the finale - instead we just got a pose that implies they have already formed and started performing but just offstage - but that's minor. I am glad they didn't just adapt the game's storyline exactly. Shioriko was definitely kind of a heel in the game lol.
The opening vibes feel perfect for this time of year, so hey why not just share it here!
Gosh, if only this could get a season 3 as well! (Sigh...more on that later.) But we will be getting a movie/OVA and a 4-koma style show next year, so I'll still be eatin' good. Oh, I just realized - could these two pieces of media feature a different voice actor for Setsuna? I was very sorry to hear that Tomori needed to step down, but I understand it fully and, if these shows will indeed feature someone new, I look forward to hearing her give life to Setsuna too.
Summer 2022
Love Live Superstar Season 2: This fumbled the bag for me as well. Something just felt super off about the pacing the whole time and the songs didn't really hit for me (except the ending song, which was nice and the animation for it was lovely). Either we were spending way too much damn time on training sequences or we were watching Sumire and Keke bicker. Meanwhile all Wien did was come in and say Kanon's name every so often, except at the very end when she's the one who hits us with the swerve about the canceled study abroad. (Nijigasaki handled/is going to handle the idea of a character doing study abroad so much better lol) Congrats on the unprecedented third season I guess (Sunshine would've been a much better candidate to get a third season that focuses on the six remaining members of Aqours as they navigate their new school, their new reality without the third years, etc - no the Yohane isekai fantasy show thingy coming out next year does not count as a third season, though I AM interested in it), maybe use that next block of episodes to try to flesh out these characters. Please give Kinako some flowers!
That was literally all I watched this season lol.
Fall 2022
Fall heard that summer was a blah season and was like CHECK THIS OUT and check it out I did
Bocchi the Rock: Love this show. So does everyone else, because it is GREAT! Yes, I relate to Bocchi very much, so that may have something to do with my enjoyment of it lol. But I also love seeing exactly what kind of unusual form of artistic expression the animators are going to use this week. From paper puppets to zoetropes, claymation to Evangelion-style regression, they were unafraid to try even the weirdest and most offbeat stuff - and it hit the mark every time.
Doesn't hurt that the music genuinely slaps, too. Even as an idol anime fan, I do like that this was more realistic - ticket quotas, song writers' block, indifferent audiences, the specter of alcohol abuse. It's also great to see how so many talented artists have drawn Kessoku Band in the style of famous real-life album covers.
It would be great to see these characters again in a season 2.
Gundam The Witch from Mercury: Congrats to G-Witch for bringing me back into the Gundam fold for the first time since Wing was on American TV in the late 90s/early 00s! Another universally loved show that has absolutely earned its adoration. I feel like episode 12 will just be the start of things, not the end, especially since Gundam shows usually get runs of about 50 episodes or so.
G-Witch gets a special award for not being super fatphobic too! There are multiple characters who have larger bodies and one of them is even a girl who is very popular with boys (Lilique, my sweet little cupcake. I hope to God nothing bad happens to you), which definitely is not the role usually inhabited by the fat girl. There is one scene where a guy makes a crack about another guy not being able to fit his belly into a pilot suit, but the guy literally floats down and shuts that shit down right away. The show also gets another special award for drawing Black characters in a way that does not feel uncomfortable (at least to me, and granted I am a white woman so I can only speak for my personal feelings, but still).
And the opening and ending songs are both bops too lol
I'm the Villainess So I'm Taming the Final Boss: This one kiiiinda fumbled the bag a bit what with its "what is the opposite of sakuga because that's what's going on here" animation style and its pedal-to-the-metal speedrun of the material. Plus I didn't super like the contrived memory loss plotline of the third segment. But I adore Aileen and Claude so much that I can't just say this one totally fumbled the bag. I DID buy the first 3 light novels and the first manga volume this year - now I need to dig in because from literally all accounts, everyone says those are much better.
Do It Yourself!!: Hey, it's the girls doin' stuff genre! A favorite of mine! Especially when it's also a hobby show - I was reminded of Let's Make a Mug Too, which I also enjoyed a lot. I did not super like that Purin is practically the definition of tsundere for 11.5 episodes (I was literally just yelling OH MY GOD JUST BE HONEST IT WON'T KILL YOU at my TV a few times...I don't like the concept of tsundere much lol) and they should have cast a voice actor for Jobko who was more fluent in English because frankly it was hard to comprehend her sometimes (I know Sally Amaki and Shu Uchida can't work every role, but surely they can't be the only working seiyuu with English fluency), but those were my only two issues and those are pretty minor really.
I especially liked how the club advisor got all the club alumni to pitch in and help build the treehouse when the materials were accidentally discarded - helping through the generations! While a second season would be nice here (I totally feel like the two girls who asked to tour the treehouse would've joined up, thus allowing the club to be at 5 members who actually go to Gatagata and 2 who don't), I don't think it's super necessary because the story wrapped up well.
The Little Lies We All Tell: If this had just aired in the weak summer season instead of the strong fall one, I think it would've caught on more. It's so goofy and funny (I laughed out loud at the Evangelion references) AND it managed to not do anything really gross with the concept of "This is Tsubasa, who is actually a boy pretending to be a girl because his identical twin sister wants to go to a boys' school to be near her favorite idols". Heck, there was even an episode where, due to alien magic, Tsubasa DOES temporarily lose uhh a certain body part and is like "hey this is pretty good actually, I was freaked out at first but now I'm alright".
The only "ugh, don't love this" thing was how Sekine using her psychic powers to their fullest potential temporarily gives her a large belly and she tries to avoid this at all costs. Damn, fatphobia really is literally everywhere, isn't it?
Also Chiemi Tanaka deserves the "she has the range" award for this show. Rikka usually has a very high-pitched cute girl voice, but her inner monologue often uses a deeper and more serious voice, and she effortlessly switches between the two at the drop of a hat. Look at Rina Tennoji's voice actor crushing it!
But overall, this is just a goofy little show that's kind of in the same vein as Azumanga Daioh, Nichijou, things like that, and I hate that it got overshadowed by literally everything else lol.
Woo! What a great year of anime - looking forward to 2023!

MIU'S RELATIONSHIPS
With Canon characters
With Subaru:
Miu took a liking to him when they first came in contact, just not super romantically. She was drawn to his cold exterior and noticed/thought he was very lonely. Without thinking about it, she started to go out of her way to do nice things for him, wanting to make him smile. She noticed the calming effect she seemed to have on him and that made her want to understand him more. She feels like she can relate to him somewhat, which makes her want to get closer. She started to develop feelings for him through watching him. They have their fights and arguments, but it never deters Miu for too long. She'll be way too embarrassed to admit it, but she is absolutely smitten with Subaru. "Even if Subaru didn’t like me back, I'm just happy to watch him and be by his side."
With Reiji:
Miu is generally kind to all of the sakamaki brothers, but especially towards Reiji. She does almost anything he asks right away and to the best of her ability. She is very grateful towards him for allowing her to stay in the mansion, however suspicious it seemed. She looks up to him as an older brother, and he finds her tolerable because she is so obedient and kind-hearted. He lets her browse through his bookshelves every now and then, and they can talk about a good book as well.
With The other Sakamakis:
She cleans up for Shuu for the most part and hums along to his music. They’re friendly, but she’s still really shy and gets flustered at his lewd jokes and comments. She wants to think of him as a big brother, but he doesn't stand a chance against Reiji. She gets annoyed by Ayato because he teases her all the time, but she never really does anything about it because she’s lowkey scared of him and she doesn’t like confrontation. She doesn’t really agree with his type of fun, but she still tries to be kind to him as she is with the rest of his brothers. She is very wary of Laito, mostly because she think's he's a bit… overly perverted. She wants to understand him a bit better, but sometimes she feels uncomfortable being alone with him, he makes her really nervous for some reason, and she doesn't like it. Miu can handle Kanato fairly well. She enjoys sweets herself and has always adored stuffed toys. Although Kanato can be kind of stubborn, she thinks he's cute and at the very least tolerable.
With Kou:
She really only got close to Kou while she got really close to Momo. Kind of like a package deal. Miu loves him almost as much as she loves Momo, and loves to watch the two of them sing and dance together. She thinks he can be a little two-faced at times, but she doesn't hold it against him at all. Overall, Miu believes he is a good person, and she trusts him as a friend.
With The Other Mukamis:
Miu gets along with Ruki fairly well, as they share the hobby of reading. Sometimes they can chat about books they've both read, and sometimes they talk about Momo as if they're her dad and her auntie. Miu thinks Yuma is kind of intimidating because he's so big and tall. Momo has told her many times that he's not that scary, but she still gets a little nervous around him. They don't have too much in common, but they do share recipes sometimes if Miu likes something he's cooked when she stayed over. Miu likes Azusa. There isn't much to say about their relationship, but she can understand his masochistic side and obsession with knives. She can get uncomfortable around him sometimes, though, because she gets reminded of her own sick addiction
With the Tsukinamis:
Miu is scared of the two brothers, and knows just from looking at them how powerful they are. Carla is most scary and she would rather die than make him upset in the slightest somehow. Miu favours Shin a little more because he's similar to Momo in her eyes, so he's less scary. Plus he's Saki's boyfriend. She tries to stay out of their way the best she can, because she doesn't want to get caught up in trouble she knows she could not get out of even if she tried. She doesn't know a lot about them besides their immense power as founders.

@owabisuru from here
She scowls upon Izuru’s inquiry, as if she’s asked a dumb question, and instantly hates herself for pulling such a horrible face when he’s been nothing but a good friend to her. If anything, it’s a good sign he doesn’t loathe her for everything she’s done, but Momo’s optimism died the night she shared Sousuke’s bed.
“Things used to be simple, and then it got complicated, and I...” she can’t say she became a monster, even though she was ready to spill the blood of her loved ones for someone who came to scare her. Sometimes she thinks her friends have a nasty habit of handling her with kid gloves. She wants to tell them they don’t have to, but maybe she is as fragile as eggshells. A light breeze will blow her off the counter and she’ll shatter on the floor. It’s happened before. Everything piles up and the most minor inconvenience breaks the threshold and causes an avalanche. She’s screamed until cadets were in tears and her voice was fucked for days. The earful Shinji gave her put her in tears.
Momo’s throat clears. “Things got complicated and we lost everything.” Before she joined the academy, herself, her brother, and their grandmother had dinner together nightly. She hasn’t seen either in years. She doesn’t remember the last time she hit a bar, either. Life became a stale routine of work, chores, and sleep. It’s like hibernation, only Momo hasn’t seen springtime yet. “And I hurt the people I love. They ruined me, and then I ruined my life. And now what the fuck do we have? He’s in a chair. The rest are dead. There’s not enough between us to be made whole again.
“So yeah. We got the raw end of the deal, and I feel like an ass because I carry this ire with me every time I see someone without baggage.”

Mini Disasters
What do I always say? Make the content you want to see in the world. Even if making that content starts at 4 in the morning, do it.
Fatgum X Reader (gender be damned), with a lot of funky intern shenanigans because I personally love the entire FatFam and wish to write for them.
“And this is....?” You stood just beyond the door to Fatgum’s agency, chaos reigned behind you that you’d more or less chosen to ignore.
Fatgum had rushed to go on patrol this morning with Suneater and someone else you only barely caught a glance of. He was hiding them from you, which on it’s own was a problem, but more so the issue was he left you alone with a very easily bored Red Riot and Real Steel, whomst were now causing the aforementioned chaos behind you.
“Momo Yaoyorozu!” The girl stood perfectly straight, her hands placed politely folded in front of her... skirt? Belts? What were kids thinking with these hero costumes now a days?
You glanced up at Fatgum, who was wearing a face desperate for approval, a shaken smile and sweat of bullets as he happily proclaimed, “Creati! She’s interning here at the agency! Just started today!”
“Thankyou for having me.” Creati, the new intern, as you just learned, bowed gracefully to you, “I look forward to learning from you.”
Well. That was a better introduction then Real Steel had given, at least. You glanced back at Fatgum, still desperately awaiting your reaction, clearly hopeful you’d except the new intern.
Taking a soft breath you asked in an almost wicked tone, “And who recommended you to us, Creati?”
The girl popped up from her bow, eyes sparkling, completely unaware of your dripping with ill intent tone, “Amajiki-Senpai! Sense I’m in the same class as Kirishima, I decided why not.”
Your head turned so fast it gave an ominous crack as your eyes honed onto Suneater, the true culprit behind the ever growing sea of interns.
He was a bleeding heart, that one, anyone who shows the slightest hint of self doubt, he sends to Fatgum’s care. It shows what a good job Fatgum had done with the boy, and that he trusted his mentor to do the same for others. Overall it was a good thing.
But there should still be a limit.
Suneater did his best to run, but with the destruction of two rambunctious 15 year olds in his path, and the emotional exhaustion of going on patrol with Fatgum, there wasn’t far he could go.
“Amajiki...” You spoke low, speaking his name like a raged mother may do. He gulped, pulling on his cloak. Before you could say much else though, a pair of delicate hands took yours.
Bright eyes sparkled at you, Creati held tight to your hands, shining like the sun before you, “I look forward to learning from you.” She’d said that before but... God now with her eyes on you, shining, hopeful.
You were weak to sunshine like hers.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Honeycakes...” Taishiro gave a whine from his desk, even his massive form was positively shrunk by the stacks of paperwork on the wooden surface.
“Busy.” You spoke bluntly, gathering up the sharded remains of a very nice wooden tea table Yaoyorozu had made to show off her quirk. It existed for only a few moments before Tetsutetsu power slammed Kirishima into it.
You could feel Taishiro’s puppy dog eyes from across the room. You glanced back at him, he was sunken, with his head on his desk and his pen balanced on his nose. He was bored, and tired.
You sighed, “What do you have completed?” You walked over to the desk, making Taishiro lift himself up as he slid a much smaller stack of papers to you, placed for no reason in an ‘out’ bin.
Sat comfortably on his knee, you looked over the completed cases and files Taishiro had already filled out. With you in closer proximity, Taishiro found himself invigorated to get back to work.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
“They’re out...” Amajiki spoke softly, glancing back over his shoulder at his fellow interns.
“What do you mean they’re out??? Should we call somebody???” Tetsutetsu spoke at his regular, maximum volume.
Kirishima, quick to put a hand over his mouth, asked “Like asleep? What did they sleep in Fat’s office? All night?”
Yaoyorozu gave a soft gasp, “Scandalous! Are they dating? Oh let me see!!” The girl’s excitment got the better of her as she pushed her way to the door, almost toppling Amajiki on her way.
Inside Fatgum’s office on a couch not far from the door, you rested atop the massive hero, still asleep despite it being rather late into the morning, almost noon infact. Very unprofessional of both of you. Though to both your credit, you’d been awake 2 hours ago, and all hours before then, finishing paperwork.
“Please be quiet...” Amajiki gave a soft protest as he attempted to close the door, only for Kirishima and Tetsu to dog pile onto him, trying to peek in on your love life as well.
“Yeah, are they dating?? You’ve been here the longest, Amajiki, surely you know!” Kirishima looked down at his squashed upper classman, who just gave an exhausted sigh.
Tetsutetsu took the moment of shuffling to pull away from Kirishima, pushing the office door the rest of the way open, “Who CARES if they’re dating, let’s get a move on!! We’ve got interning to do!!!!”
Tetsu’s three fellow interns quickly tackled him to the ground, struggling to cover his loud mouth as they floundered on the floor. They’re lucky that, despite the ruckus, you remained asleep.
“Shhhhh!!” Yaoyorozu hissed at Tetsutetsu before carefully crawling off him, “Let them rest.” She spoke softly, pulling a blanket from her arm to toss over Taishiro’s sleeping form. “I’m sure we can find something small to do until they wake up.”
Yaoyorozu led Kirishima and Tetsutetsu back out of the office, confident she could keep the two well entertained and under control until either of their mentors were ready to take them on patrol.
Amajiki made the correct decision of joining the two of you on the couch for a well deserved nap, deciding if the agency caught fire, or collapsed, or exploded, this would be a much better final resting place than in the middle of whatever those three would get up to.
They’d have a lot of cleaning to do before any of them were allowed back on patrol.

Relationship Headcanons
↦ Character(s): Hakkai Shiba x fem!reader
↦ Rating/Warning: No rating though there are some light mentions of abuse (if you have read the manga you are aware of what I am talking about, I’m not going very deep into it though it literally just mentions it), mentions of anxiety attacks (no detail though), fluff, not proof read
↦ Word count: 1.8k (longer than planned, sections are bolded)
↦ Your Momo’s Receipt: Hello~ I’m post yet another TR headcanon and this was requested by the lovely @strawbub I hope this doesn’t disappoint, it did get longer than planned but I enjoyed writing it. I'll prob do a part two that's more of a scenario based on your first date or something since I didn't go into it here. Please note: for those of you who don’t know my blog is currently under construction, meaning I will not be updating my masterlist for the time being.
So how did you guys meet, well mostly because of Yuzuha,
One day in like elementary you’re walking home and you see this super pretty middle school girl just like yelling at this small group of guys
The guys end up running off just because they don’t wanna deal with her or the attention she's drawn to them
Behind her was a boy, taller than her but obviously younger. You didn’t assume they knew eachother though.
The boy and yuzuha began walking in opposite directions because one was going home while the other was going to pick up something like groceries
You’re so entranced by how she stood up to them yet she’s a girl who was far smaller and you end up catching up to her, almost stepping on her heels
You end up absent mindedly following her into the grocery store and eventually she just freezes, turns, and stare directly at you
Your eyes widen since you must’ve been staring and she just goes “may I ask why you’re following me?” And you explain how cool she was earlier. She invites you over for dinner (esp since her older brother won’t be home) and figured it’d be good for Hakkai to meet someone his age
You end up going over but Hakkai didn’t come down to eat so you never actually got to meet him, though from then on you would see Yuzuha every so often, visit every other weekend or so
But no matter how often you came over the next few months, you never once met hakkai,
That was until you both reached the end of your middle school education and we’re about to begin high school
You had gone over because you were going to borrow an old work book from Yuzuha, and when you go to knock on the door the door opens before your closed fist could hit it, instead hitting a firm chest
You blush and quickly apologize but the person in front of you doesn’t move at all, doesn’t say anything and almost looks like they drifted into space with their dead stare
You assume this is yuzuha’s older brother because you’ve also never met him and you immediately turn to walk away but Yuzuha calls over hakkai’s shoulder
“Y/N-Chan! You just got here where are you going?” This was def not yuzuha’s older brother. There’s no way she’d be that happy with him around; oh my god. Realization hit, the guy who you hit (though it was more of a tap) was hakkai.
The hakkai you had only caught a glimpse of in yuzuha’s photos, never talked to or actually seen in person despite going to the same school and living in the same neighborhood
He must hate you. That’s why he avoids you. That’s def why - is what you think
Yuzuha drags hakkai back inside and invites you in; you sit down with them in the living room and watch hakkai visibly relax now that he’s inside his house, his own space, with a pillow behind him and a blanket covering his lower half, he almost curls up into it as he continues to avoid your stare
“Hi hakkai…Kun? Im L/N Y/N” you say and you see his face dead pan once again
Yuzuha can be heard laughing from the kitchen as she comes back in.
She leans over and begins explaining that hakkai literally just freezes with any interaction between him and girls who aren’t in his family
You nod, thinking maybe it’s an anxiety thing? Which is the case with you, but only because he’s been watching you since you’ve come over (not in a creepy way) wanting to and working the courage up to talk to you
The 5th or so time you came over after that encounter he was inches away from introducing himself before the house phone rang causing everyone to kind of “wake up” in a sense
Every time since then he gets closer and closer but isn’t able to say anything; he even realizes he has a crush on you.
The way you sit when you do homework and how cute you look when you’re focused.
How your forehead scrunches up when you’re trying to figure something out and you end up just sitting back with a small huff followed by yuzuha’s signature laughter.
It’s also a huge thing that you get along with Yuzuha.
So enough with first meeting time for the confession.
He ends up confessing accidentally. He didn’t know you were coming over to begin with so he was flustered out of his mind. And how was he supposed to know you hadn’t actually fallen asleep and you could hear him over the tv
The tv was more white noise than anything and the day was hot since it was the middle of summer causing the window to be open and the sound of soft wind and small birds to drift in; this was the hot that makes you tired so you were all sprawled out of just sitting in a daze
So while resting your head on the table you’re dozing in and out but then you hear hakkai begin to speak, something he never really did around you
Now did you and hakkai text? Yes. Did it take him an hour to reply because his brain would explode when you replied to him? Yes. But was it a start to communication? Also a yes.
You hear him say your name quietly before he moved closer, you can feel his gaze on your features
“I like you” is all he says. Simple and sweet. But you sit there in shock, trying not to blush so he’ll have no idea you heard him but he can tell because your forehead scrunches
You heard him and are focused on if you should reply or not. And he knows that.
You open your eyes and just look up at him, he’s closer than expected. His hand close to yours on the floor and he reaches over and grabs it lightly. Hoping you’ll also return the gesture by holding his hand instead of leaving your hand limp inside his.
And you do, thank goodness, and Hakkai almost mentally can’t handle it.
Once you start dating it’s more so just hanging out at his house or yours; however he talks a bit more and you text a lot more. He’s gotten better at replying. It usually takes him like 15 minutes now
He’s kinda stressed about your relationship but not due to anything you or him did
He’s stressed because of the mentality his older brother gave him
Is he even allowed to be this happy?
He finally has someone thats small enough and naive enough that he can protect you; compared to constantly being protected it’s a sudden, strong, yet good change for him
He’s touch s t a r v e d
Yes Yuzuha shows affection; but he stopped accepting her hugs when he was around 8 just because he physically wasn’t able to handle it due to his bruises and such
But with you, even with his bruises and all you take care of him. Able to coax him into using medicines and toning down the physical violence (that he can control himself)
He also finds it super soothing when you lightly brush over his scars (especially those that his brother gave him), it helps him believe that scars are only physical and can fade with help
One thing that stresses him out the most is trying to hide you from his brother. Any time you leave something at the house its easy to pass it off as yuzuha's but when it comes to things like photos he has with you, he can't hang them up, show them off, or have them as his phone Lock Screen, etc. because he just really doesn't want his brother to know and target you since he'll then know that you're his weakness (aside from yuzuha as well)
Sometimes won't explain why he can't hang out and has legit pushed you out of his house before at the last minute notice of his brother coming home
Will always make sure you get home safe though, usually by having Yuzuha go with you since then she can just say you're a friend from school
Your parents love him, though they were a bit hesitant it became a "you always have a place to stay" because they learned about their family situation from you and yuzuha. So expect him to spend the night when he's too scared to deal with his brother. Same with yuzuha. (yes I know this isn't yuzuha head canons but its hard to write for him without mentioning her when they're so close)
We're talking three person sleep overs. Yuzuha and you of course share the bed and Hakkai takes some time to even set foot in your room much less sleep on a mattress that's on the floor
He has a small heart attack every time he comes into your room because he's overwhelmed with everything, he's never been so comfortable and it makes him feel restless. Like he's never and I mean n e v e r been less stressed and slept better than when he does so in your room
The smell, the colors, just being surrounded by you is something that completely changes his mood
Once showed up after he fought with his brother, tears in his eyes and clothes a bit tattered and you just pulled him to your room, and sat down with him.
You laid on your bed with him laying down onto of you, head on your chest as you rubbed his head and only said a few words "its not your fault"
He ends up crying so hard he falls asleep and gets dehydrated and you have to make him drink a bunch of water when he finally wakes up.
NSFW
super fucking careful w you
almost annoyingly so, but you're understanding
He knows that he might be taking things frustratingly slow but he knows that since you understand and know his history that you can help him get through it
Your first time you think you'll have to call it off because he's shaking so bad
"baby... are you sure it won't hurt you?" he keeps asking.
pretty sure that's the longest its ever taken him to finish because he was so anxious
despite being so slow and hesitant, late he isn't too scared to get a bit rougher
but im not talking anything crazy im talking like he's willing to pull your hair a bit or nip a bit harder at your neck.
Please never ask him to do anything like degrade you or some type of harsh physical rough shit, he can't
like literally im 99% sure that if you ask him to choke you or something he will pass out because of the anxiety attack he would have at even the thought.
in short with nsfw though he is sweet boy. He's a switch through and through. Loves when you take care of everything because then he doesn't have to be scared of hurting you.

prologue --- chapter three -- chapter five
a/n: ive actually written something!!!! sorry about taking so long to get a new chapter out (hell idek if people want to read this anymore its been so long) but my exams were awful and i spent so much time preparing for them so i hadnt had time to write and then after i was finished i needed some time to recover mentally - but i now dont have uni again til september and currently have no job so hopefully i’ll be able to write a little more (if people are still interested in this that is) // anyways enjoy!
As they passed through the canopy, she could feel the branches and leaves scratching her body, but before she could complain too much she and the others landed, or crashed should she say, into the swampy water.
Sokka moaned beside her and she agreed with his sentiment - this swampy water wasn’t the most pleasant thing she’d come across and she was really starting to think that these kids were bad luck; but at least this time she wasn’t badly injured.
Aang was the first to recover, although he had used his airbending to float down into the water so he wasn’t soaked to the bone with disgusting swamp water like the rest of them.
She watched Aang jump up into the canopy to look for their animal companions that had not crash-landed with them, leaving behind the awkward tension between her and the water tribe siblings - in hip deep swamp water - could her day get any worse? Not wanting to risk the siblings talking to her, not that they seemed inclined to, she began looking around the area, keeping the sibling’s chatter as background noise.
“Sokka you’ve got an elbow leech.” She heard Katara point out to her brother, she turned around to witness him screeching as he tried to remove it and y/n couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight, earning her a scowl from the water tribe boy in question. Luckily before anything else could be said Aang swung back down from the canopy, a dejected look on his face.
“You couldn’t find them?” Katara asked.
“No, and the tornado has seemed to just disappear as well.”
This news was worse, and weirder in her opinion, a weird silence settled over the group as they looked into the trees surrounding them, darkness on all sides.
They began walking through the trees, Sokka up front chopping the vines that blocked their path with his machete and y/n bringing up the rear, her sword in hand in case anything happened - something felt wrong here and she didn’t like it one bit.
“We should speed things up.” Sokka announced to the group, slicing through a particularly large group of vines.
“Maybe we should be a little nicer to the swamp.” Aang said as his eyes darted around.
She stopped listening to their conversation as something in the corner of her eyes moved.
She stopped in her tracks, her eyes not leaving the spot where she was confident something had moved - but there was nothing there other than the trees and vines that already surrounded them. This stop had caused the others to walk further away than she realised, so she took one last look into the darkness before increasing her pace to catch up with them. Huh, they didn’t even notice me fall behind - not that I blame them Sokka is busy killing plant life and Aang and Katara are busy telling him not to, she can handle herself anyway.
Y/n agreed with Aang and Katara on this, this place was unlike anything she had ever experienced before, and after the movement she was positive she saw and the feeling of eyes on them, she was sufficiently creeped out. Not that she would voice these opinions of course - she was new to the group and the water tribe siblings still didn’t trust her, or like her yet actually, and she didn’t want to make this experience any more tense.
Walking through the swamp was exhausting and it was completely dark by the time they started slowing down, still no Appa and Momo in site, and she wished she could use her bending for a light source, just so she could see if something was hiding in the darkness. But she wasn’t ready to reveal herself as a fire bender yet, you didn’t have to be a genius to know it wouldn’t go down well with any of the others - including Aang who didn’t seem to hate fire benders as much as the other two, but he definitely didn’t like them.
“Appa! Momo!” Katara shouted into the darkness, but much like the rest of their journey there was no response.
“There’s no way they can hear us and no way we can see them,” Sokka turned around to face the rest of them, “We’ll have to make camp for the night.”
Her pleasant thoughts of finally getting a chance to rest as he said this were interrupted by a weird swamp-gas cloud that popped next to them. Agni this place somehow just kept getting worse and worse.
“It’s just swamp gas Katara,” Sokka looked at his sister who was looking more nervous by the second, “nothing supernatural at all.”
That seemed to relax the group a little, beginning to walk to find somewhere suitable for camp, y/n beside Sokka and in front of the other two with no one saying a word. But of course in this spirits awful place the silence didn’t last long as a blood curdling screech interrupted the dark swamp. Without thought, all four of them latched on to each other in fear, before the swamp went silent once again.
It took a second for her to centre her breathing and calm down, and in this time she noticed the death grip her and Sokka had on each other’s hands. They briefly looked at each other before quickly letting go, and Aang let go of her arm on her other side as she stepped away, coughing awkwardly as she avoided Sokka’s gaze.
“Um I think we should build a fire.” She spoke for the first time in hours and the others all nodded their heads, still a little disturbed by whatever that screaming was.
It didn’t take long for Sokka to chop up some of the roots for the fire, even with Aang still warning him about harming the plants. But for the first time since getting here, she didn’t care that she agreed with Aang, instead she wanted a fire to see their immediate surroundings and she knew with her element near her she would feel more comfortable in this horrible place.
They were all sat around the fire when she spoke up again, “Just curious, but is it always this weird when you’re travelling or is this like some horrid anomaly?”
The others looked at her and then each other before shrugging. Wow what a useful and informative answer, thanks so much guys for putting me at ease. She rolled her eyes at the trio before returning her attention to the fire in front of her - focusing on the way the flames moved always made her feel more at ease, and she definitely needed that in this swamp.
“Does anyone else get the feeling we’re being watched?” The water bender asked the group, nervously looking into the darkness behind her.
“Please we’re all out here alone.” Sokka responded once again, adamant that this place was not as alive as the others kept suggesting. Well not all of them he realised, their new companion had barely said a word since they were sucked into this damn swamp by that freak tornado - and despite himself wishing he didn’t care at all about her - he couldn’t help but wonder if she was holding up okay as she was less used to these weird avatar adventures than the rest of them.
He glanced over at her to check but she didn’t seem to even be paying attention to the conversation, she just sat staring at the flames, their movement reflected in her golden eyes. But before he could study her anymore - not because she was pretty, no definitely not that, it was because she was their natural enemy and he didn’t know if he trusted her yet, yeah that was it - a bug flew at his face, interrupting his thoughts.
As he tried to hit the bug to get it to leave him alone it enveloped itself in a bright light, unfortunately illuminating the hundreds of glowing eyes surrounding them. They all huddled closer together, y/n whispering to him from her position by his shoulder, “What was that about being here alone?”
He turned to scowl at her, but didn’t say anything as he, admittedly, was a little freaked out about the entire ordeal.
———
The four of them slept with their backs pressed together, facing out to the rest of the swamp in case something happened - but this didn’t stop the vines that wrapped around their bodies and pulled them in separate directions.
She was jolted awake as the vines pulled her away from the group, and she was glad her sword was in reach for her to cut at the vines that had a strong hold on her body. She dropped to the ground with a groan, not having a chance to recover before more vines shot towards her; it was times like this where she was thankful for her fast reflexes and skill as she cut any that got near to her.
As she defended herself against the plants, she tripped and tumbled down into the swamp water, where the vines finally stopped their bombardment against her.
But now there was a new problem - she had no idea where she was or where the others were, and despite all her training she didn’t know what to do.
———
She walked for what felt like forever before her mysterious surroundings revealed something to her. But it was not something she was expecting.
There was a woman in front of her, she couldn’t see her face as she was facing the other direction but she knew who she was - it was instinct to recognise your own mother.
The woman was wearing red and gold robes that related to the fire nation, except these ones were reserved for the more important families, ones who had money and the respect of the Fire Lord. Her pitch black hair cascaded down her back, so unlike what she was used to seeing - her entire childhood her mother had never worn her hair down, it was always in some fancy up-do that y/n wished she had the skill to replicate.
Shaking herself out of her thoughts and observations, she took a step towards the woman - her mother - and tried to call out to her, gaining no response. Her mother was dead, she knew this, but she still continued walking towards the woman. The hope of possibly seeing her face for the first time in two years reminded her of emotions she hadn’t acknowledged in years - the love her mother gave her when she had disappointed father again and been punished for it, the security she experienced when she would hold her close when she had nightmares about her brother dying, the emptiness she felt when her mother finally succumbed to the sickness that had held a grip on her for months. All of these emotions and memories came flooding back to her and by the time she was directly behind her, there were already tears falling down her face.
Shaking, she lifted her hand up and placed it on her mother’s shoulder, who finally turned to look at her - but it was no longer her mother.
She fell to the floor, scrambling backwards through the shallow swamp water, her heart pounding in her ears as she looked into the eyes of the the man she had killed before running away - the one who haunted her dreams. His neck was coated in blood from where she had directed her blade and as she struggled to breathe, he lifted his hand up to point at her, and in his last breath he shouted “murderer!” before disappearing into the swamp fog.
It didn’t matter that he had now vanished, y/n couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t think - her thoughts were too much, she wanted to push down the emotions that had risen with the appearance of her biggest regret but her mind didn’t respond to her, she could feel tears run down her face but she couldn’t move to wipe them away. It was all too much. She couldn’t breathe. She was a monster.
———
Sokka hated this swamp. First they lost Appa and Momo; then the weird glowing eyes; next the vines kidnapping them; and now he had seen Yue. Well ‘seen’ wasn’t necessarily the right word in his opinion, it was a simple trick of the light in this already creepy swamp, that’s all - absolutely nothing else.
So, despite being a little shaken up from the ‘Yue' incident, he continued on through the thick vines, hoping to get a glimpse of one of his companions.
Before long he heard something that stood out from the other swamp sounds - almost like someone was crying.
Rushing towards the noise, he was surprised to come across y/n sat in the water, her knees pulled up against her with her head resting on them as she dug her nails into her skin, the light sobs were interrupted with a choking sound as she tried to breathe.
Sokka shook himself out of his shock and ran towards her, falling into the water so that he could face her and try and get her attention. She didn’t even look up, instead just kept trying to inhale and failing to do so. Shit.
It didn’t take him long to realise she was having a panic attack - Katara used to have them after their mother died but this was seemingly worse than what he had helped his younger sister through, and he prayed to all the spirits that his method of calming her down worked on the newest addition to their group too.
“Hey can you look at me?” He grabbed her hands, trying to get her attention in any way as well as preventing her from digging her nails into her palms as there was already blood dripping into the murky swamp water they sat in.
She finally looked up at him, her eyes wide when she noticed him before he and in between her failed breaths she gasped out, “Can’t … breathe.”
“Okay, we can fix that okay?” He tried to smile at her as she nodded her head slightly, “Alright I need you to to try and breathe on my count okay?”
Another nod, “Good, breathe in for 5 seconds with me.”
Sokka breathed in with her following his instructions before repeating the process until her breathing was closer to what it normally would be.
“You’re doing great, now tell me something you can see.”
“Your face.” Her voice was raspy when she spoke but Sokka didn’t care, he was just glad that he was making progress.
“What about something you can feel?”
She took in a deep breath before looking down at their intertwined hands, relaxing the tight grip she had on him “Your hands.”
“You’re doing amazing y/n, tell me something you can smell.”
Her breathing was basically back to normal and the tears had stopped by the time she provided him with an answer, “The nasty swamp water.”
Sokka let out a breathy laugh at her answer, smiling as he gently wiped the tears off her face.
“Yeah it doesn’t smell great. Are you, um, feeling better now?”
She nodded, removing her still shaky hands from his grip, avoiding his eyes.
They sat in silence for a few minutes when she finally spoke up, “I’m, uh, sorry you had to see that, normally I have better control.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’m glad I could help.”
Light finally seeped through the tall canopy above them, giving Sokka the kick he needed to start moving again, desperate to find the others so they could get the hell out of this place.
“Alright,” he stood up and held out a hand to the fire nation girl, “I don’t know about you but I’m ready to leave this disgusting swamp.”
A small chuckle escaped her as she gripped his hand to pull herself up, and despite still being a little shaky, the worst of the panic attack seemed to have passed. Still a little embarrassed that Sokka had seen her like this, at her weakest, she avoided his worried gaze and started walking in what was hopefully the direction of their other companions.
Before they got too far, she turned to face him, giving him a small smile, “thank you, by the way,” and continued on, not seeing the small smile that had formed on the older boy’s face.
———
It didn't take long for them to find the others - or perhaps the others found them as Aang had tackled Katara into them - the four of them finally coming to rest on a large tree root.
“What do you guys think you’re doing?!” Sokka shouted, waving his hands around, “I’ve been looking all over for you.”
Y/n coughed from where she was sitting next to Aang, grabbing the water tribe boy’s attention.
“Right. We’ve been looking all over for you.”
She flashed a self-satisfied smirk at him before returning her attention to Aang.
“I was chasing some girl.”
The three of them all looked at the Avatar, confused on what he was talking about.
“What girl?”
“I don’t know.” He moved to help Katara up, as y/n stood as well, “I heard laughing and I saw a girl in a fancy dress.”
Right, this place and group just keeps getting weirder. What have I gotten myself into?
“Well there must be a tea party here and we just didn’t get our invitations.” she rolled her eyes at Sokka’s attempt to dismiss what Aang had seen, but she had seen something too - not that she was thinking about it again, nope bad idea.
There was a sadness in Katara’s voice when she spoke that y/n knew all too well, “I thought I saw Mum.”
“Have you forgotten that the Fire Nation killed your mother?” She hadn’t really thought back on the argument between Jet and Sokka she had heard all those months ago but now it all properly clicked into place for her. There were lots of reasons why they didn’t trust her she was sure but a death of a mother was a different kind of hurt that she knew all too well. And it was the Fire Nation’s fault.
“Look,” Sokka began, “we were all just scared and hungry, and our minds were playing tricks on us. That’s why we all saw things out there.”
“Wait you saw something too?”
He turned away from his sister when he spoke, “I thought I saw Yue.”
She had no idea who this Yue was, but the sadness in his voice when he spoke was indication enough about what had happened to her. Her heart went out to this small group that had let her join them - they had been through so much pain, and she wished she could fix it. But she was Fire Nation, and everyone knew Fire Nation didn’t fix things. They destroyed them.
“Look it doesn’t mean anything,” he continued, pulling her out of her thoughts, “I think about her all the time. And you saw Mum, someone you miss a lot. And y/n, you saw-“
He trailed off, realising he didn’t know what she saw. But it didn’t matter now, all of three of them had turned their attention onto their newest member, her shoulders stiff as she looked at the ground.
“Wait, y/n, did you see something as well?” Aang asked, brow furrowed as she clenched her fists at her side.
After a few seconds of silence she looked up, “Uh yeah, but I don’t want to talk about it.”
She caught Sokka’s eye where she was surprised to see genuine concern for her. Maybe after this ordeal she’ll be able to gain his trust and possibly even friendship.
“Okay,” the avatar gave her one last look before addressing the others again, “well what about me? I didn’t know the girl I saw. And all of our visions led us right here.”
Looking around at their surroundings, it didn’t take long for them to notice the huge tree towering above them. The centre of the swamp.
“It’s been calling us here.” Aang turned to smile at the others, glad he was right about what he felt.
That good feeling did not last long though, and soon the small group was staring up at a giant figure made of vines looming above them.
They scattered in different directions.
She held her sword in one hand and dagger in the other, skilfully cutting all vines that aimed at her. Although she was not successful in her standoff with the swamp monster for long though, it grabbed her legs, tossing her into a nearby tree with a grunt. The sharp pain and small sensation of liquid on her neck was all she needed to know that she had, once again, been injured.
For Agni’s sake this is getting ridiculous, I’m going to look like I can’t look after myself and that’s just embarrassing, she thought to herself as she slowly stood up, looking for where the trio and weird plant monster had gone.
It took longer than she’d like to admit to find them all again, but with the ways things had gone in the last day or so she shouldn’t have been surprised when she not only found that they had defeated the monster without her help but also there was now a weird man standing in the vines that must have composed the monster in the first place. Was she the only sane one here? Did they not realise how weird this was?
“-and I heard something calling to me, telling me to land.” She managed to catch the tail end of Aang talking as she approached the group from behind.
“He’s the avatar. Stuff like that happens to us a lot.” Sokka told the man, Katara frowning at her when she came to stand next to her.
“The Avatar? Come with me.”
Before she could follow the man, Katara grabbed her wrist, pulling her to a stop.
“Where have you been?!” She hissed, “Was it your plan all along to leave us to fight the first assailant we met in hopes we’d die? Perhaps that would make your beloved fire nation proud of you. Helping kill the Avatar must be reward worthy.”
Too shocked to respond to the water bender’s accusations, she just blinked at her.
“Well?” Her arms were crossed as she glared at her, her foot tapping against the tree root they stood on.
“Uh I was actually incapacitated,” she quickly showed the cut on the back of her head, Katara’s eyes widening at the sight of blood, “But thanks so much for assuming the worst about me, it means a lot.”
Turning on her heel, y/n began following the others, the fire inside her burning brighter at the anger Katara’s words had caused.
“Do you not want me to heal the cut?” Katara offered from behind her, and when she whirled around to face her, she was surprised to see the guilt on the girl’s face. Guilt, however, didn’t make what the waterbender had said any better.
“No, I think I can manage treating it myself.”
She went to catch up with the others again but stopped to say one last thing, “Katara, I would like to belong in this group with you guys as my friends who trust me, so I don’t appreciate you assuming that I would betray you after promising to help fight the Fire Nation. It is dishonourable to go back on my word and beliefs, so if you don’t trust me, at least trust that I want to stop the Fire Nation.”
Nodding her head after saying her piece she left to catch up with the others, leaving a stunned Katara behind.
———
After the events of the day, Sokka was glad to be sat down eating something, the possum-chicken settling nicely in his stomach as the swamp benders told them stories about the way they lived.
Despite the joyful energy around the campfire, there was a new tension between his sister and y/n that wasn’t there before and he wanted to do something to fix it but didn’t know how. So instead he listened to their new acquaintances talk and watched the Fire Nation girl play with Momo from the corner of his eye, a small smile gracing his lips at the sight.

UA was a well-known mental asylum in japan. It was known as a last resort for the lost souls that had no hope in ever making back into society. It was where they kept the people who had nowhere to go because nobody else could handle them.
UA held some of the most dangerous and scary patients. The lady who ran the place, well known as Momo Yayorozou, had a horrible reputation for being mean and running the place horribly. Izuku noticed that as soon as he walked into the giant building.
The walls were breaking and rotting. The floors were creaky and groaned under Izukus weight. The whole first floor smelled like mush and it made his stomach lurch. He kept his head down as he slowly made his way to the front desk.
“H hi, I I’m-“Izuku was cut off as the bright pink cheeked girl at the front desk started speaking.
“Oh! You must be Izuku Midoryia, right? The new therapist for the fifth floor?” she gave a soft smile grabbing a medium sized stack of papers. Seemingly files.
Izuku was taken aback. Why was she so cheery and bright? She worked at an asylum, shouldn’t she be angry? Grumpy? He didn’t dwell on it for too long seeing as he was nervous for his first day and had other things to worry about. He made a vow in the car that he would make his patients feel loved and safe.
“U-uh yes ma’am that’s me.” He stutters
“Alright I’m Ochako Uraraka! If you’ll follow me I can get us to the fifth floor yeah?” She walked out from behind the desk and held out the stack of papers.
Izuku nodded and took the files from her hands “Please. That’d be great, thank you.” Izuku looked down and flipped the first page of the folder and sure enough sitting on top was a picture of a man with half red and half white hair, a plain sad look on his face and a list of information.
F I L E 1 (Patient Name) Shoto Todoroki
(Date admitted) 21-8-14
(Patient age) 23
(Patient disorder) crippling anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, trust issues, insomnia, hallucinations and irritability
(History/cause) Father (Enji?) was emotionally, physically and verbally abusive. Sent Todoroki’s mother to a physiatrist ward a few years before he was due to her unstable mind (also caused by enji?) she had a mental breakdown and poured boiling water on his face resulting in a scar over his right eye. His older brother (Touya?) had committed suicide only a month before he was admitted to the asylum. His older sister (Fyumi?) tried to take care of him but the more she tried the worse his father’s beatings got. His older brother (Natsuo?) has been absent since his mother was put in a ward.
(Has patient...) -attempted suicide? -attempted homicide? -attempted any act of self-harm? -attempted violence on past employees? -attempted escape?
(Other) Patient is extremely easy to manipulate and believes that his brother is still alive and thinks he stays in the room with him. Will throw a tantrum if you say otherwise and don’t greet his brother (Touya?) every time you come in. He narrates, asks and gives responses for his brother. If you gain his trust he’ll get attached. Don’t let him get attached, he will do ANYTHING to keep you with him. If he starts showing signs. RUN
(Danger level) 6/10
Izuku shuddered. He felt horrible for the poor boy. Both parents were so horrible to him. And he lost all of his siblings. He had followed Uraraka up to Todoroki’s room which was guarded by a metal door which had some severe dents made into it. It also had a hand scanner and a passcode. Uraraka smiled at Izuku's look of shock and confusion.
“Alright, You can just place your hand over the scanner. I know Mrs. Yayorozou already had you do the hand recognition evaluation. Your passcode should be the same one you used to enter the building. Here is your timer.” She pulled a small device from her pocket. “You have 20 minutes with each patient today. Normally you’d have 60 minutes with each but since you’re just introducing yourself I see no need to be there any longer. And I know you read the file. So please just be careful.”
Izuku nodded thoughtfully. He placed his hand over the scanner and input his passcode. The big heavy metal door unlocked to reveal a slightly smaller and less protected door. Izuku took a deep breath, started his timer and walked in.

Hellow! Love your drabbles 😳 I saw your reqs were open for Shouto-kun: so can I ask a Drabble in which the reader is crushing on Shoto but feels completely unworthy of him, notably because she's from a very lower condition, something people often remind her while telling how Momo and him would make the perfect couple, because they're both from higher condition.. While reader is admittedly a hard-working person but has always been bullied for her modest origins? If you feel inspired ;o thanks :3
if i was a rich girl, yeah gwen stefani said that too
pairing: shoto todoroki x reader
little bit of angst? fluff!
warnings: self issues?? curse words??? not a warning but bakugou is reader’s best friend. also memories are in italics
plot: you couldn’t help comparing yourself to yaomomo, and clearly, your classmates comments didn’t help at all
notes: aaaa tysm i can’t believe this is my first request hopefully i did justice you your amazing idea! sorry for the delay i was in my last week b4 holiday vacation, hope you enjoy!
“i’m just sayin, todoroki and momo would definitely would look as an amazing couple wouldn’t they?”
it was kaminari’s words that were the final drop that broke the glass.
no, don’t misunderstand the situation, yaoyorozu was one of the sweetest, loveliest and most intelligent girls you’ve ever met.
but also one of the richest.
see, the thing is that you were not born in a “i have it all” family type of environment. you lived well, yes. but it’s for sure that your family did struggle way too many times in their way of spending money.
that’s why when you got into UA tears couldn’t stop falling through your face, you were finally able to do something about that. you always wanted to become the greatest hero, you thought that being able to rescue people from danger was the most selfless thing to do, you were familiar with that, so ever since you were little that was your goal. and besides that, you wanted to help you family so they wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.
also because of that your friendship with uraraka was a great one. you understood what was like to face little things that the others didn’t, and you suddenly became close that you almost considered her a sister.
she was the most important friend to you, well, along with other person.
your eyes started itching, currently at the common room table where you and your friends were having dinner.
kaminari was on the sofa among with bakugou and mina, but it was easy to hear them. so that comment took everyone’s attention, even shouto’s.
“i mean you are not wrong” asido agreed, excited they finally were talking about romance in that boring school. “can you imagine how rich the todomomo’s family would be?”
“todomomo?” todoroki asked visibly confused.
“a ship name! for you and yaoyorozu!” she answered
your eyes were a little bit red now, and the knot on your throat was growing more everytime you looked over to see shouto’s expression.
uraraka noticed this, so she gently placed her hand over yours. how could she handle the situation?
“she’s so fancy!” you overheared some girls in the cafeteria drooling over the way that momo seated.
“i can’t believe this is her whole house” jirou exclaimed cheerfully when you visited her to study form an exam.
“an intelligent girl is always a classy girl” you listened kirishima while he looked stunned the way yaoyorozu handled, not only professional but also gracefully, a mistaken order at the cafeteria.
you always admired the way she was because of her origin, not in a bad way but you were obviously impressed, and if you were honest with yourself, sometimes it made you feel small.
but until now you never thought about this new insecurity, one that came up with the fact that todoroki and momo would actually look great together.
you tried to take those thoughts away, but your dear classmates were not helping at all.
the rambling of momo being a super match to shouto was getting louder and louder every second to you.
“think about it!”
“so when is the first date happening uh todoroki” kaminari still teased.
“but” midoriya interrupted “you know uhm wouldn’t it matter the way todoroki-kun actually feels about momo”
you stared at him.
but you finally had it when you spotted a slight red tint on todoroki’s face.
he was blushing.
“uh..” todoroki’s face was absolutely fuzzy. what could he say?
“i have to go” you announced way more loud than you expected, with a broken voice only two people were able to decipher.
bakugou took over a glance to you, knowing well what was going to happen next, with a tired groan he yelled. “well done idiots”
you ran out of the common room and took the elevator to go you your room.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
“be careful” a voice said over your shoulder while grabbing your back before you touched the ground.
you looked above just to find a pair of beautiful heterochromatic eyes. and also a half red and half white hair type of thing. you were embarrassed that being your first day at school you were already tripping with everything. but fortunately he catched you right before something disastrous happened.
“come on, on the first day? if you have something to tell me god do it right now!” you remembered saying yo the sky. “that was weird, i’m sorry, (l/n) (y/n), sorry for bothering you but thanks for saving me” you laughed.
“do you think god would take my complaints along with yours?” he asked serious, was that his way of making a joke? “todoroki shouto” you smiled.
-
“DON’T GIVE UP!” you remembered yelling from the bleachers at the sports festival “YOU OWE US!”
todorki heard you from above during his fight with bakugou. he saw you there, almost crying and although he did not understand why were you so invested on it, that gave him the extra strength to stand up to bakugou at least for a little more minutes.
-
“did you know that seahorses once they find their mate they keep it for life?” you randomly said one day while eating lunch with him. currently doing some extra work so you could be ar least on top 10 of your class “how romantic is that, right todoroki-kun?”
he glanced at you, confused but still admiring. you knew so many things that it was actually impressive to him. he didn’t know why but that day, his heart skipped a bit.
-
if i was a rich girl, na na na na na na na na na na na, see i’d have all the money in the world if i was a wealthy girl.
“if i was a rich girl”, yeah gwen stefani said that too you thought.
the song may seem stupid but your current mood made you put in on speaker.
if i was a rich girl i’d sure have a chance you thought too
“so i guess i do have a crush on him huh” you admitted to yourself.
“about time you made it, idiot” you heard bakugou say “was it hard playing dumb all this time? i mean it’s in your blood”
he was standing at your door arms crossed with that awfully big brother look on his face. you rolled your eyes.
“is it hard messing around being a dickhead? i mean it’s in your blood”
“well you shouldn’t be using that language in front of your lover boy” he said.
“what the fuck are you talking about-”
your body stopped working when he pulled out todoroki out of the wall letting him come out at sight.
the icyhot boy had his hands in his pockets giving that gorgeous look. you blushed, how could he do nothing and still look good?
“why are you feeling this way?” he abruptly asked.
“todoroki-kun?...”
“i’m not dumb, whenever she’s around you act so self conscious” he began “what’s worse is that i see you working so hard everyday but you are so blind that you don’t see what i see”
if anybody could hear the conversation, they would actually say that he was being rude, but you knew him he was just expressing his feelings, weird way tho.
“is it about the money? believe me, yaoyorozu is an incredible girl but you don’t have to compare yourself because how different she is to you in terms of money” your eyes were widened.
why was he talking so much all of a sudden?
“you don’t understand todo...”
“i know what it feels to mad, and seeing you this way it just does it to me over and over again. because everyone has their own opinion on perfect, but to me, you are that definition”
your heart froze at that last thing, his expression was so serious that if you weren’t listening carefully you would have thought that he was mad at you for any other reason. but that’s why you liked him so miches, deep down you understood shouto more than anyone else”
so you didn’t know any other answer that hug him in gratitude.
he was shocked, he never received some kind of display of pure love affection before.
but something in the way you did made him feel better. almost as if your hugs were some magical potion to the answer of everything he needed.
he felt so warm with you between his arms that he didn’t mind staying like this for a couple more minutes.
“wanna go out sometime?” your typical you started coming back again.
the confident and smart girl he learned to care about.
a soft smile crossed his face.
“anytime you want”
and so you thought, you did not have anything to worry about anymore.

Mha relationship headcanons (Class 1-A)
Guess I’m doing headcanons now
(In order of seats cause it’s the first photo order on Google lol)
Gn reader
Yuuga Aoyama
He will lazer anyone who even dares to make fun of them
Always in need of attention
ALWAYS
if y/n is boing homework or something at their desk he’ll just dramatically sit down in their lap
“wHy aReN’t yOu PAyinG aTtENTion tO yOUr pReTtY bOYFriEnd?????”
“My little star” ❤️
Compliment wars
Y/n will compliment him once like “hey your hairs really soft today”
Shots fired
He is a rich kid and no one can convince me other wise
So one day he just randomly buys them like thousand dollar jeans and they just sit there like “???????????????? I mean thank you so much I love it but like ????????????”
Mina Ashido
Yeah she doesn’t have any hoodies anymore
“Girls” night is very important where it’s basically every other night where they sleep in each other’s dorm rooms but instead of going to sleep at 1am they go to sleep at 6am on a Friday
Every morning she puts a ridiculous amount of makeup on y/n and y/n the whole time is like “I am totally willing to go to school like this”
But by the end Mina just wipes it all off :(
Brags about each other CONSTANTLY
Kirishima and Kaminari made a whole mix tap of Bakugo telling them to shut up about each other
With Kaminari’s crappy beat boxing ✨
They both go to Momo’s dorm and all study together (let’s be real they aren’t really studying just kidding around) all the time
(If a female y/n) They get their periods at the same time and it’s so miserable cause they can’t take care of each other 💔
If Mineta hits on either one??
The next day the other will ask to train with him and he’ll think someone finally likes him back but turns out they were just trying to beat him up for revenge
Tsuyu Asui
HATES PDA
DON’T YOU DARE HOLD HER HAND NO
Headcanon she’s aromatic (aromatics can still want a romantic relationship with someone and fall in love and stuff, it’s just really unlikely) (feel free to tell me how it works; I’m in the community but haven’t done a large amount of research on aromatics)
Random compliments
Just randomly “hey *ribbit* your outfits really nice today”
💙 swimming dates or going to the pond💙
Double dates with the rest of the Dekusquad couples
Loudly cheers each other on in training
Y/n gives Tsu a frog plush and she’s to scared to sleep with it thinking she’ll drool on it or something so it’s on a shelf that only has special items
Remembers every little thing like they could say they needs to do something in a few months and Tsu will remind them
Eat Bento Boxes together at lunch all the time 🍱
Once y/n was like “what do I feed the pond frogs?????” And Tsu went on a long rant about how to handle frogs
She has a passion okay
Sends goodnight texts at like 8:30 and y/n finds it hilarious that she literally goes to bed at 8:30
(When they finds out about Bakugo they laughs at him and Deku mutters “he deserves it”)
“I love you” *internal panic, like that one spongebob scenes in his head where there’s a ton of little sponge bobs burning stuff* “uhhh um uh thanks” “WAIT IM SO SORRY I LOVE YOU TO SO MUCH” *bursts into laughter*
Tenya Iida
Study dates where they lose track of time and accidentally stay up till two in the morning
Definition of slow burn
Literally, for two years he clearly had a crush on them but didn’t realize it and at some point Deku and generally the whole Dekusquad got tired of it and Ochaco just yelled at him one day “YOU LITERALLY LIKE Y/N HOW DO YOU NOT NOTICE?!?!?”
He just like o ^ 0
Literally plans every date for weeks
He doesn’t love physical affection, he likes it just not all the time, prefers giving gifts and time to each other
Best listeners ever
(Slightly angsty headcanon) one time he had pulled a bunch of all nighters studying and failed a test from not taking in the info and cried and y/n comforted him :(
Literally thanks the universe every night for y/n because he’s a sweetheart
When his brother gets forced into retirement y/n comforts him SO HARD
Y/n would low key be on board with the “murder stain” plan if Iida told them
Cause they are best friends with his brother
When they first got together and they meet each other they thought he was super intimidating cause he’s the “if you break his heart I’ll break your nose” type but then became really good friends because of how each of them care for Iida (well that was what started it)
Doesn’t get jealous whatsoever
Y/n could literally kiss some guys hand or cheek and he’s just like “their a really friendly person and I trust them”
Arguments on who’s gonna pay for dinner lol and then he’s just like
“Oh my god what we split the Bill” like he just had the best smartest idea ever
And y/n’s like “ :0 that such A good idea!!!!!” Cause they are both semi himbo
Ochako Uraraka
As soon as Ochako said she was poor y/n just started randomly giving her money
“Hey Ochako how’s your day” “oh good good you” “yeah I’m doin good anyways here’s fifty dollars”
She makes y/n a ton of hand made gifts and likes baking for them (I headcanon that she likes baking uwu)
If she buys y/n anything they know she was saving up for it and appreciates the heck out of it
Volunteers at the family business all the time 😌
Her bed is covered in stuffed animals and when she misses y/n she cuddles up to them and y/n find it so sad yet adorable
They would be nervous to tell anyone so it would be a secret for a while
Until one day Deku asks if Ochako wants to study with him and Iida and find them cuddling while reading
He definitely freaks out and blush’s but tells no one
After a few months they do tell the class tho they supportive
Okay the whole Dekusquad and y/n calls All Might Dad
When their older they go to pride parades (even if it’s not a lgbtq relationship) and wear “free mom/ dad/ parent hug” shirt and it’s adorable
Constantly touching each other
Could be hugging or hand holding or even as little as just having their hand on the others shoulder
Both find it werid how they somehow have the same taste in music
Part 1 (gonna be four parts lol wanna do the whole class)

It isn’t unusual to see Uraraka in the gym. It isn’t unusual at all to see her going at it against a punching bag, striking it with ferocious jabs and strong kicks, well-paced and well-timed. It isn’t unusual in the least to see her wearing sweatpants and a sports bra, hair pulled out of her face as she sweats it out alongside her classmates.
It is unusual to see her face scrunched up like she’s on the verge of tears though. It makes something in Midoriya’s gut clench unpleasantly.
‘Hi,’ Midoriya says, wiping away the sweat on his neck with the bottom of his tee shirt. Uraraka simply nods, but her eyes don’t leave the bag. She does a one-two combo move, the bag making a satisfying thump with every hit.
‘Are you ok?’ he ventures, crossing his hands over his chest. He keeps his eyes trained on her face, and his gut twists when he sees unshed tears brimming in her big, round eyes. Uraraka wipes at her face with the inside of her elbow before she goes back to the bag.
‘I’m fine,’ she bites out between clenched teeth, and Midoriya knows she’s not okay. He decides not to push it too much though, instead moving to stand behind the bag and hold it steady for her as she pummels it. He can feel the force of her punches through the material, and her face continues to twist and contort till there are tears running down her face.
‘Uraraka,’ Midoriya finally murmurs, voice low, ‘are you hurt?’
‘I’m fine.’
‘You’re crying, you’re not fine-‘
‘I said I’m fine! Leave me alone Deku, just- I’m fine.’
The last time Midoriya had a gut feeling like this, he’d left Iida alone after his brother got hurt and nearly lost him. The last time he’d let his guard down, Bakugou had been kidnapped from right under their noses. And the last time he hadn’t fought to understand, he hadn’t persisted in his efforts, he’d let go of Eri and allowed her to be in harm’s way, an act he would never, ever forgive himself for. So now, Midoriya has a bit of an issue letting go.
‘We don’t have to talk about it right now,’ Midoriya grunts as Uraraka kicks the bag hard enough to jostle him. ‘But you have to talk to someone. Please don’t bottle it in, you know it’ll only get worse.’
Uraraka stops punching then, chest heaving as her eyes find Midoriya’s, and they’re filled with a plethora of emotions- pain, anger, embarrassment, rage, and so much sadness. They look defeated.
‘I am fine!’ Uraraka growls, thumping both hands against the bag. ‘I am fine because I have no choice but to be fine! Because the moment I stop being fine, I will lose. So, all I can do is punch a bag, shed a tear or two in private, and move on with my life because this is a battle I cant lose.’
‘You don’t have to fight anything alone Uraraka, you have all of us.’ Midoriya gestures at the gym, littered with some of their classmates. It’s not packed to capacity, but there are people around, their good friends.
‘I do have to fight this alone though. And I certainly can’t fight this with you.’
‘I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Please talk to me Uraraka, tell me more.’
‘There’s no point Deku. It won’t change a damn thing.’
‘But I want to understand anyway! Just humor me.’
Uraraka barks out a laugh before staggering away from the bag, her body angled towards Midoriya.
‘Fine, you wanna know so bad? Ok, let’s talk.’
She starts unwrapping her left hand. ‘Did you know that for every article or piece of news that goes up about my heroic deeds or my fighting, there are 8 others that talk about my measurements, which colors suit my skin tone, why I am in desperate need of losing weight, or something along those lines?’
Her right hand continues to methodically unwrap the tape with trembling fingers. ‘Every news channel I go to, no matter where, I have to read about how a female heroes’ love handles were showing while she was taking down a villain. Or how someone’s hair wasn’t perfect while they put their life on the line to do their job. And do it damn well.’
She finally finishes unwrapping one hand. ‘And did you know, that for every article written about your heroics, or Bakugou’s, or Iida’s, of which there are so many more than our female classmates’ by the way, there’s maybe 3 articles about things that don’t concern heroics? And they’re always respectful, not too invasive, somewhat curious.’
Uraraka moves to unwrap her other hand, but her fingers are shaking so bad, she can’t even find the end. Midoriya finally stumbles forward and pulls her right hand into his own, unwrapping it gently. He gives it a firm squeeze, urging her to go on.
‘I know the advice- stop listening to the tabloids, let it roll off your back, it’s not important, it’s not relevant. And I get that Midoriya, I do. I will continue to do my job. I will continue working towards being a hero. I will always do my best to save lives and defeat villains and keep everyone safe. I will.’
Her voice cracks, ‘But I also get tired, you know? I get tired of seeing people talk about me like I’m not even a person. I am so tired of seeing the female heroes objectified all the time. For them to be glorified for their looks alone and not their skills. We’re saving lives too, we’re not here to look pretty. We’re here to kick ass.’
Midoriya finishes unwrapping her hand but doesn’t let go, holding it lightly between his own. Uraraka stares at their hands and continues, ‘I want to be taken seriously. I work just as hard as you guys, and I want to be awarded that same respect but I’m not. And I don’t get to say Hey I’m tired today, if someone is disrespectful or puts me down because I’m a female hero I’ll let it slide because every time I do that, we take 3 steps back. I have to fight this fight all day, every day.’
Uraraka pulls her hand away and sinks down, resting her head on her bent knees. She slowly turns to look to the side, and she has a faraway look in her eyes.
‘I have been stared at since I was maybe 10 years old. And it’s not just me, it’s all girls. All women. We’re just stared at. Doesn’t matter what we wear, what we’re doing, where we’re going. I’m stared at. I could be in uniform, could be dressed to go to the mall or enjoy a day at the beach- I will be stared at. People, and men especially, look at me like I’m a piece of meat. I can feel it on the back of my neck, and yes, I can protect myself, but that fact that I even need to, why is that ok?’
Uraraka finally pauses, inhales deeply and a few more tears slip out.
‘I am tired, Deku. I am so tired. And I will continue to fight this battle, I will continue to stand up for Momo and Tsuyu and Mina and Hagakure and Jirou. For all the female heroes. For all women, everywhere. But I am tired of having to fight that battle in the first place. I’m just a little tired today. That’s all.’
Uraraka exhales deeply, and her entire body deflates. ‘I want to be able to walk out on the streets without my guard up because I’m a woman. I want to walk around wearing what I want and not have to worry about catcalls and judgement. I want to exist without the need to be perfect because when I’m not, it feels like I’m letting so many people down. I just want the freedom to exist as a human being, the same freedom so many take for granted. I want to talk about it, I want all of us to fight for it, I want to achieve it so someday, a little 10 year old girl can walk to her convenience store and not worry about the old geysers around the corner leering at her.’
Midoriya doesn’t move to interrupt her, not once. He listens, he absorbs, he aches. Because he knows- everything she says is true, and he can’t relate. He doesn’t face the same treatment. Granted, he faces his fair share of criticism, but his hero persona Deku does. And it’s usually for the way he fights, how reckless he can be, or sometimes how silly his bunny ears look. But never about his body. Never about his personal life. Never about his measurements, at least not in a sexual way.
And Midoriya has never been stared at, especially in a way that makes him feel small or hunted.
When Uraraka makes no move to continue, Midoriya sits on the floor, legs crossed and hands resting in his lap.
‘What can I do? How can I help, if at all?’
Uraraka mirrors his position, and for the first time since he spoke to her that day, there’s a ghost of a smile on her face. It’s a genuine one too, soft and barely there, but honest.
‘You’re a good guy,’ she says, smiling a bit wider. ‘You’re kind, you’ve never made me feel small or objectified or anything. And you don’t speak that way about other people. You speak in terms of strength, and you acknowledge everyone, regardless of gender or other parameters. You’re doing good.’
Uraraka looks to the side, and Midoriya follows her line-of-sight to see Bakugou doing crunches while Kirishima shouts encouragements at him.
‘In an ideal world, people would think more like Bakugou did during the sports festival.’ When Uraraka sees the expression on Midoriya’s face, she bursts out laughing.
‘I’m not saying we need more Kacchans around Deku, don’t worry,’ she reassures him, still giggling. ‘I’m saying he didn’t hold back; despite the backlash he was receiving. He did his best against me because he knew I was strong, and he took me seriously. We need more of that, of being taken seriously, of being on the same ground as all of you. That’s what we crave- being acknowledged as equals.’
‘Uraraka, what’s wrong?’ Iida says from somewhere behind Midoriya. Uraraka quickly rubs at her eyes, trying to get rid of the tear stains.
‘Nothing, nothing,’ she murmurs, shooting Midoriya a look. ‘We were just talking about some stuff.’
Tsuyu sits down beside Uraraka and pulls her into her side. ‘You need anything?’
‘This is good,’ Uraraka says, leaning her weight into the frog hero. Tsuyu tightens her grip protectively, and the girls speak to one another in low voices.
‘She’s fine,’ Midoriya says to Iida as he stands up. ‘We were just talking about how differently we experience the world as male and female heroes.’
‘Ah,’ Iida says, voice subdued. He pushes his glasses up his nose. ‘I’ve read the statistics, it’s honestly disheartening. The number of female heroes ostracized from the hero community for absurd reasons, the number of hate crimes committed against them, it’s outrageous.’
Midoriya doesn’t even realize he’s gone into one of his mumbling rants as he says, ‘Is there anything we can do, like right now? How can we make a difference in the position that we’re in? We are still quite a while away from being pros. We do have licenses though, and we are known in the community. We also have students from affluent families that could help make a difference. But tackling the media is always a delicate matter and-‘
‘Start by taking steps yourselves,’ Jirou says, placing a hand on Midoriya’s shoulder. ‘Of course, all of what I’m about to say doesn’t really apply to you since you do it anyway but speak of us the way you speak about your male counterparts. Treat us with the same respect. Talk about us like we’re human beings with feelings. Just- it’s so systemic, all our biases and all our assumptions and how we treat and view women in society as a whole, so change will take time. We just have to take it one step at a time.’
Jirou takes her hand off Midoriya’s shoulder and shrugs, ‘We don’t want to be coddled, we don’t want special treatment, we don’t want any advantage or upper ground. We just want to level the playing field.’
‘In the meantime, when one of us is tired of fighting the system,’ Tsuyu says, getting Uraraka to her feet, ‘ice-cream and some queer-eye can’t hurt anyone, kero.’
That gets a smile out of Uraraka and Midoriya. The group slowly makes their way out the gym, nudging each other and cracking silly jokes. Jirou confirms that there’s 2 tubs of ice cream in the freezer, and Iida offers to make them popcorn even though he isn’t personally that fond of it.
There’s an unpleasant clench in Midoriya’s gut, but that’s ok- identifying the problem is the very first step towards fixing it.
And when he looks around him, he thinks they have a pretty good shot at getting it right.
