I got a subscription to Shonen Jump so I could read the rest of Akane Banashi on your recommendation (no ragrets), but i marathoned it all in three days and now I need other recs for shonen jump manga. I trust your recs, can you please help a poor soul find good stories?

I LOVE SHIBATARIAN. BLUE EXORCIST. Even If You Slit My Throat, Kaiju No.8, Witch Enforcer, Tsuruko Returns the Favor*, and Moebana💖

Out of all of them I think Witch Enforcer has the closest Akane-banashi vibes, despite being in a fantasy action genre. Gorgeous art, emphasis on the power of human connection for both good/bad, lovable characters, writes women with respect, fun world building, and as a bonus it discusses restorative justice. Overall a lovely story I wish it didn’t already end 😭

idk if some of these are under ur subscription bc for most of them I simply caught em when they came out and have been reading w/out a subscription, but I think most should be covered!!!! Also I don’t have the app. At least Shibatarian, Kaiju No.8, and Blue Exorcist should be available to you!!!!

*im making a disclaimer for Tsuruko Returns the Favor bc while the manga advertises it as a ~Forbidden Morally Questionable Romance~ that’s not what’s happening at all. Like at all. It’s a fun light hearted story.

wow Moebana's ending came right out of nowhere. can't help but feel bad for the mangaka, because it's pretty clear this cancelation came out of nowhere

they came in second place in the first place of the tournament, meaning they went on to the next round. and then the final page is like "oh btw we were all happy and then two years passed and there's only one chapter left"

Moebana by Hidari Yokoyama

It is pretty much a niche manga about Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement style) and shows how an otaku Tsukumo Fukakusa learns about Ikebana and then subsequently joins the Ikebana club and pairs up with Tsubame Dewakuni to enroll for the prestigious Rokka cup. Their personalities are poles apart and one thing they both have in common is their passion for flowers!

Sunshine and introvert pairing up is my guilty pleasure UwU ✨

It is a slice of life with a lot of varied side characters who are super interesting too. The mangaka and translator have worked hard to convey the meaning behind Ikebana so well! Love the little notes on the side about the scientific name of flowers etc. It is very cute, calming and relaxing to watch two cuties arrange flowers with other cuties!

i don't think the term moe needs a translator's note in the year 2023, especially when the series' name is a pun on the word. but also, like. this is wrong? anime is what it's most known for in the anglosphere, but that's not the most dominant usage
