The Blueprint Jay-Z 2001, Roc-A-Fella

At the time of his “retirement” in 2004, it was basically settled law that Jay-Z was the greatest rapper alive, if not of all time. Even in the moment, the case should’ve felt sketchier. In sales terms, he was very consistent, but he’d never moved the kind of units Eminem or even Nelly did. In terms of acclaim, he’d had perhaps four albums that could be considered classics, none of which had quite reached the level of namedrop ubiquity of an Illmatic, a Ready to Die, a 36 Chambers. He’d dropped a number of albums where the clunkers threatened to overwhelm the bangers, and his 2002 stab at a magisterial double-album landmark (The Blueprint²) had barely moved the needle. Most people didn’t even think he’d won the war of diss-tracks he’d started with Nas. (He did though.) And yet, if you were there at the time, something made it hard not to take him at his word when he said (with ever-increasing frequency) that he was the greatest to ever do it.

Despite his “Takeover” claim of having only been in the game five years, Jay’d been on the fringes of the rap biz since the late ‘80s, a time when every rapper worth his salt wanted to crown himself king. By the late ‘90s, most major label emcees were more concerned with shoring up their street bona fides and stacking up cash than claiming lyrical supremacy, and Hov was happy to play that tune too. He got the hits, money, and connections, but despite his hyper-capitalist hood mogul outlook, he still wanted the prize he’d grown up watching Kane, Rakim, and Kool Moe Dee fight over. Once Biggie died, a lane to that throne opened up, and Jigga bent all of his will toward snatching it.

The Blueprint isn’t Jay’s audition for the title of Best Rapper Alive. It’s his assumption of it. He posits that greatness and success are synonymous, and Success is Jay-Z’s whole brand. The album is his demonstration of what Success means in rap: having the hottest, most timeless beats; your own label, your own clothing line; spitting the slickest braggadocio; being the smartest, most ruthless guy in the room. When he takes down his rivals, he knocks their heights, bank accounts, and degree of apparent washedness, but most of all it’s their lack of savvy he zeroes in on, how he’s made himself an emperor while they’re still wannabe thugs squabbling over pop corners. Even when those shots prompt a contender as fearsome as Nas to fire back with his hottest record in years, the simple truths Jigga lays out remain uncontested: Who has more money? Who has more hits? Who sounds more like a boss?

Jay understood as no other rapper of his time did that being considered the G.O.A.T. is a matter of perception, not statistics. Arguing against his claim to greatness while The Blueprint’s rolling feels like arguing water isn’t wet or Warren Buffett isn’t wealthy. Track by track he makes his case, drawing together threads from golden age rap and the vintage soul that inspired it until the story of hip-hop itself starts to seem like it was always bound to culminate with Jay-Z. (A fiction he’d continue to promulgate over the years.) The portions of the record helmed by Kanye West, Just Blaze, and Bink! are as pure a distillation of what makes rap great as you’ll find, but even the less critically acclaimed tracks (“Jigga That Nigga”; “Hola Hovito”) find him flexing his command over a pop realm where neither Nas nor Mobb Deep ever seemed truly comfortable.

The only time Jay ever seems remotely out of his element, “Renegade,” comes down to battlefield exigencies: scoring an Eminem feature amounted to a huge coup, but by 2001 Marshall was already becoming a creature of habit. He wasn’t going to be coaxed onto Jay’s turf, where he might’ve had to adapt his whiz kid white boy flow to the soulful lushness of The Blueprint’s other productions. In order to get his man, Jay has to make do with one of Eminem’s own thin, battle rap-friendly beats. Hov acquits himself well, but it’s unquestionable that Shady steals the show. Though Eminem’s career-best verses add to the album’s embarrassment of riches, it's revealing of Jay’s mentality that even on an album intended to position himself as the Best, he was still willing to kiss the ring of rap’s real kingpin for the extra 200 or 300,000 in sales Shady’s name guaranteed.

I didn’t expect to write so much about business when it came to covering one of my three or four favourite rap albums of all-time, but both on record and as a public person Hov frequently compels you to: it’s the frame of reference he’s most confident with. You can’t really put the dollars and cents aside with him. Despite that, The Blueprint is a one-of-a-kind document of the man’s genius for rhyme, his ear for great music, and his ambition to make everyone in the world give a damn about Shawn Carter. Its very success is what makes it his masterpiece.

1. Shoreline Mafia「Mafia Bidness」

西海岸のラップグループ。

感情を表に出さないような冷徹なラップを、殺伐としたバンギンなものが中心のサウンドで聴かせる傑作です。ラチェットを経由した音作りながら緊張感の漂う、現行ウェッサイの音が堪能できます。メロウな曲でも抜けないハードさはG好きの方にはたまらないはず。随所で聴かせるオマージュも楽しいです。客演のカラーに合わせつつも寄りすぎないバランス感覚も見事。

03 Greedo、Duke Deuce、Drakeo The Rulerらが参加。

2. Duke Deuce「Memphis Massacre 2」

メンフィスのラッパー。

ストリングスやピアノを使ったダークなクランクやバウンス、ブルージーな路線などを聴かせるメンフィス臭いアルバムです。Project PatにYoung Thugを足したような、いなたいラップも現行シーンの旨味とメンフィス色の最高の交点。トレードマークのアドリブ「ワタファ～！」も癖になります。メンフィスG好きの方は是非。

Lil JonとJuicy J、Project Patとクラブを盛り上げるMタウンクランク「Crunk Ain't Dead (Remix)」は今年屈指の名曲です。

3. Don Toliver「Heaven or Hell」

テキサスのラッパー。

Big MoeやChalie Boyの系譜にあるフガフガとソウルフルに歌うラップが、オルタナティヴR&Bをベースにエレクトロファンク色を強めたようなビートに溶けていく怪作です。ビートと対話するように歌ったり、ビートと声が一体化して共にエディットされたりとヴォーカルのアプローチもユニーク。生音と思しきキーボードやギターなどの多用も印象的です。

機械的なようでファンキーなサウンドと声の散らし方が凄い「After Party」がハイライト。

4. Boldy James / Sterling Toles「Manger on McNichols」

デトロイトのラッパーとプロデューサーのタッグ作。

Mobb DeepのProdigyを思わせる低音で安定感抜群のラップが、生演奏が自由に動き回るジャジーで混沌とした音作りを支えた快作です。時にはヒップホップの枠をはみ出したような曲もありますが、クールにラップを絡めています。

ヴォコーダーも使ったPファンク風味の「Birth of Bold (the christening)」がベストトラック。

5. Kolyon「Rumors of War」

フロリダのラッパー。

甲高い声質で感情のこもったGなラップを、哀愁漂うメロウなものが中心のサウンドで聴かせる良作です。フロリダのGなヒップホップ、というか南部Gが好きな方にはたまらないと思います。

穏やかなビートと語りかけるような優しいラップが印象的な「Sinners Prayer」がお気に入り。

6. Ramirez「THA PLAYA$ MANUAL」

ベイのラッパー。

Rocciが全曲を制作したタッグ作です。ハードな路線はほぼなく、メロウでレイドバックした好作に仕上がっています。Kingpin Skinny Pimpあたりに通じる高音でキレのあるラップも抜群。

例の高音シンセも飛び出すGファンクの「Gold Thangs & Pinky Rangs (Da Hooptie)」がハイライト。

7. Spillage Village「Spilligion」

アトランタのコレクティヴ。

フォークやゴスペル、Pファンクなどをミックスしてヒップホップに形成したような快作です。フリーキーなラップやソウルフルな歌も非常に強力。Dungeon Familyファンの方にもおすすめです。

メロウで落ち着いた雰囲気と多幸感のあるフックが印象的な「Shiva」がベストトラック。

8. Halsey「Manic」

ニュージャージーのシンガー。

浮遊感のあるオルタナティヴR&Bやギターロック、アフロポップ風味など多彩なサウンドをエモーショナルで華のある歌で彩った良作です。Juice WRLDなどのエモラップが好きな方も是非。

ふわふわしたシンセと手数の多いパーカッションが効いた「Graveyard」がお気に入り。

9. D Smoke「Black Habits」

西海岸のラッパー。

生音を多用したネオソウル系の音作りを軸に、Gファンクなどの西海岸ヒップホップ要素を注入したような充実作です。クールな詰め込みフロウも歌心のあるフロウもこなすスキルフルなラップも見事。

トークボックスとJill Scottの歌をフィーチャーしたDJ Battlecat制作のGファンク、「Sunkissed Child」がハイライト。

10. Kassa Overall「I THINK I'M GOOD」

NYのプロデューサー兼ラッパー、ドラマー。

Kanye Westがジャズ方面に進んだような、ジャズとヒップホップがマッドなセンスで同時に鳴る快作です。生演奏の即興の魅力を活かしつつも、エディット感覚が冴え渡ったユニークな音作りが楽しめます。

生ドラムと打ち込みドラムの同居、エディットを施したピアノが凄い「The Best Of Life」がベストトラック。

11. Starlito「Paternity Leave」

テネシーのラッパー。

哀愁も緊張感も出せる枯れた声質の燻し銀なラップを、重厚なトラップやソウルフル路線などで聴かせる作品です。後半からの哀愁路線の連打が凄まじく、オヤGの方はソファに泣き崩れ必至。

メロウなエレピと悲しそうなギターが効いた哀愁曲の「Daddy Issues」がお気に入り。

12. DeJ Loaf「Sell Sole II」

デトロイトのラッパー。

キュートな声質でメロディアスなフロウを用いつつもストリート感のあるラップが、ダークなトラップやバンギンなどに絡む快作です。R&B寄りのメロウ曲もあり。全編通して高いラップ力に唸らされます。

42 Dugg、Sada Baby、Benny the Butcherらが参加。

13. Emily King「Sides」

NYのシンガーソングライター。

ハスキーな声質で包容力のあるソウルフルな歌が、優しいアコースティックサウンドに絡む好作です。ソウル好きの方だけではなく、Waxahatcheeなどが好きな方にもおすすめ。

静かな力強さと美しさを感じさせる「Forgiveness」がハイライト。

14. Rucci「Midget」

西海岸のラッパー。

Mistah F.A.B.やWebbieを思わせるアグレッシヴなラップを、現行ウェッサイらしいバンギンや哀愁系などで聴かせる充実作です。シリアスな曲が多いですが、アッパーな路線や爽やかメロウもあり。G好きの方は是非。

美しいサックスやギターが寄り添う哀愁たっぷりな「Leave Me Alone」にはオヤGの方もソファで泣き崩れるはず。

15. FMB DZ「The Gift 3」

デトロイトのラッパー。

太く低い声質から繰り出すヒリヒリとした緊張感のあるラップが、現行デトロイト印のファンク路線やバンギンに乗るシリアスな作品です。哀愁系も抜群。G好きの方にはたまらないと思います。

Sada Baby、Helluva、Rio Da Yung OGらが参加。

16. Kem「Love Always Wins」

ミシガンのシンガー。

生音を多用した優しいメロウ中心のサウンドで、紳士的で力み過ぎないセクシーな歌が堪能できるR&B作品です。Prince的なロック風味や四つ打ちのアップもありますが、基本はしっとりとしたミッドやスロウで聴かせます。

クワイアを導入した「Love Always Wins」のErica Campbell客演版で締めるラストは感動的。

17. Teyana Taylor「The Album」

NYのシンガー。

90～00年代R&Bネタやオマージュも多く盛り込みつつ、トラップやレゲエ等の要素も取り入れたヒップホップソウル作品です。圧倒的な歌ヂカラの持ち主で、力強い歌もクールな歌も自在。ヒップホップ好きの方にもおすすめです。

Erykah Badu、Quavo、Kehlaniらが参加。

18. Mozzy「Beyond Bulletproof」

ベイのラッパー。

ギラギラした凄味のある泥臭いラップを、現行ベイらしいバンギンやメロウなどで聴かせる作品です。メロウ方面が特に充実しており、G好きの方にはたまらないと思います。

歌うようなフロウも交えて寂しげにラップする「Bulletproofly」がベストトラック。

19. dvsn「A Muse In Her Feelings」

カナダのR&Bデュオ。

スウィートでメロウなR&Bを軸にしつつも、トラップやダンスホール風味なども取り入れた遊び心が光る好作です。シルキーでセクシーな歌も魅力的で、R&Bファンなら悶絶必至な瞬間が何度も訪れます。

寂しげな雰囲気で悩ましく歌い倒す「For Us」がお気に入り。

20. DJ Fresh「The Tonite Show with Curren$y」

ベイのプロデューサーとルイジアナのラッパーのタッグ作。

スムースでメロウなものが中心のサウンドに、リラックスしたゆるゆるなラップが絡む良作です。サウンドはルイジアナよりもベイに寄った印象ですが、Curren$yのラップも絶妙に溶け込んでいます。

Guapdad 4000、Larry June、XL Middletonらが参加。

21. Tank「While You Wait」

DCのシンガー。

セクシーで情熱的な歌をピアノ一本で聴かせる、濃厚なR&B作品です。凝った要素を排除した、剥き出しの甘さが突き刺さってきます。路線が統一されているので、6曲という尺もちょうど良いです。

優しいピアノで誠実な歌を聴かせる「My Lovers」がハイライト。

22. City Girls「City On Lock」

フロリダのラップデュオ。

TrinaやJackie-Oあたりのフロリダ産ラップの路線を継承しつつ、現行のトラップと結合させたような快作です。ボコボコした低音が鳴り響くバウンシーなものが中心のサウンドで、軽快な二人のラップが楽しめます。

Traxamillion制作のバウンスでYo Gottiと盛り上がる「Broke Niggas」がベストトラック。

23. Fleet Foxes��Shore」

シアトルのインディロックバンド。

フォークロックを軸にゴスペルなどの要素も取り入れた、美しさに圧倒される良作です。優しいメロディと歌心が沁みます。重ねられたヴォーカルやコーラス、ホーンの使い方も絶妙。

優しいピアノで歌うノスタルジックな「For A Week Or Two」がお気に入り。

24. Benny the Butcher「Burden of Proof」

NYのラッパー。

Hit-Boyが全曲を制作したタッグ作です。低めの声質の武骨なラップが、ソウルフルなブーンバップ系が中心のビートで堪能できます。時々Jay-Zを思わせる瞬間があり、全体的に00年代のRoc-A-Fella作品のような雰囲気が漂っています。

Freddie Gibbs、Lil Wayne、Dom Kennedyらが参加。

25. Haiti Babii「California Haitian」

ベイのラッパー兼プロデューサー。

詰め込み系のラップや朗々とした歌い上げラップ、SEのような奇妙なアドリブなど、声を多彩なアプローチで使う怪作です。素っ頓狂な高音も強烈。サウンドには現行ベイらしいファンク路線やハイフィ的なスカスカのものなど。

ブヨブヨのベースが目立つビートに乗り、一人で同時に何役もこなすような「Murder Mook vs. Haiti Babii」がハイライト。

In addition, we’ve fixed bugs and community concerns to improve your Sims daily lives. -SimGuruSteph NEW & IMPROVED FEATURES Multi Story Columns I’m not sure calling them multi-story columns is accurate. They are more like multi-height columns. Just go into the build catalog, place a column, grab the handle at the top, and drag it up and down to re-size. Some have a maximum size, others however... I think I topped out around 100 feet. UI Scaling Now available in the Options menu - UI Scaling! Are you a 4k player with tiny user interface issues? Do you prefer your interface to be readable at distances greater than fifty feet away? Have you a desire to customize the scale to your personal preferences? Now you can! From the Options panel, open up Game Options, and choose Accessibility. Stay away from the red parts of the slider to keep things in the safe range for your display. But, if you are feeling adventurous, give it a try, go crazy! If for some reason you find yourself in a bad state, you can always reset - either from the options panel, or by using Ctrl+U to reset the scaling back to default! The Rap Grammy Nominations Are Weird As Hell | Nov 25, 2020 11:12 AM BY TOM BREIHAN

The very first time that the Grammy Awards recognized rap music, it was an utter fiasco — a clear case of an aging pop-music establishment failing to understand this vital new youth music that had sprung up and rewritten the rules. For the 1989 awards show, the Grammys added one rap category, Best Rap Performance. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince won it for “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” beating out LL Cool J and Salt-N-Pepa and Kool Moe Dee and JJ Fad. The show didn’t deign to recognize Public Enemy, N.W.A, EPMD, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B. & Rakim, or Ice-T, all of whom had released classic albums within the voting window. The award wasn’t televised, and most of the nominees, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince included, skipped the show, attending a “Boycott The Grammys” party instead.

Since that night, the history of rap at the Grammys has been a series of baffling, embarrassing decisions. It’s Steely Dan winning Album Of The Year over The Marshall Mathers LP. It’s Gretchen Wilson winning Best New Artist over Kanye West. “It’s weird and it sucks that I robbed you.” It’s also a history of rappers getting angry over the Grammys: “I never let a statue tell me how nice I am,” “You think I give a damn about a Grammy?” In 2019, Drake showed up to accept Best Rap Song. In his acceptance speech, he talked about how the Grammy voters weren’t necessarily the right people to define rap success. The broadcast cut him off mid-speech. Earlier this year, Kanye West, a man who once cared more about Grammy Awards than anyone else not named Neil Portnow, tweeted a video of himself pissing on one of his Grammys. (The Grammys still nominated West this year, for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.)

Yesterday, the Grammys nominated Freddie Gibbs and the Alchemist’s Alfredo in the Best Rap Album category. That’s great! Freddie Gibbs is a great underground rap success story, a guy who bet on himself and kept doing great work in his own lane even after multiple major-label situations fell apart. Gibbs has never made a hit song in his life, and he’s gotten himself into a position where he doesn’t need to make hit songs — where he can just follow his instincts and keep his own style intact. Alfredo isn’t my favorite rap record of the year. (Even in the field of Alchemist-produced 2020 rap albums, I’d give the slight edge to Boldy James’ The Price Of Tea In China.) But the nomination for Alfredo is still a very cool surprise, the kind of thing that I would’ve never expected to see from the Grammy nominating committee.

And yet Gibbs’ nomination doesn’t exactly announce a new golden age of Grammy rap consideration, a time when Recording Academy voters are finally figuring out how to approach the genre. Instead, his nomination points toward something else: An institutional recognition of middlebrow, middle-aged, respectable rap music.

All of this year’s Best Rap Album nominees are Black men between the ages of 35 and 47. The oldest nominee is Nas, who is now on his fifth Best Rap Album nomination and who has never won the award. (The Best Rap Album Grammy didn’t exist in 1994, when Nas released Illmatic, but there’s no way in hell that Nas would’ve won it anyway. The Academy would’ve given the award to Coolio’s It Takes A Thief or something.) The youngest nominee is D Smoke, a former high school Spanish teacher who is also the brother of the TDE R&B singer SiR. D Smoke made his way into Grammy contention after winning the first season of Rhythm + Flow, the Netflix rap-competition show. (Two of the three judges from Rhythm + Flow, Cardi B and Chance The Rapper, have won Best Rap Album themselves. T.I., the other judge, has been nominated three times and never won.)

D Smoke isn’t exactly a revered or popular rapper, and I have’t seen anyone calling his perfectly-OK album Black Habits a masterpiece, though the man has certainly done better than anyone could’ve expected from a rap reality-show winner. But D Smoke raps exactly like a diet version of Kendrick Lamar, so his nomination works as a clear indication that the Grammy voters really, really wish they had a Kendrick album to nominate. D Smoke is also up for Best New Artist, alongside fellow rappers Chika, Megan Thee Stallion, and (I guess) Doja Cat. Presumably, Megan’s Good News would also be nominated if it had come out early enough to be eligible. Meanwhile, Chika hasn’t released an album, and Doja Cat is nominated in the pop categories, not the rap ones.

Instead, then, we’re looking at five guys hovering around the age of 40, all of whom are respected technicians with boom-bap inclinations. Jay Electronica, who’s nominated for A Written Testimony and who should probably be considered the front-runner, is technically a New Orleans native, but nobody thinks of him as a Southern rapper. (Jay-Z is all over A Written Testimony, to the point where anointing Jay Electronica feels a bit like throwing awards love to Jay-Z in a year with no Jay-Z album.) All the albums up for Best Rap Album are, at the very least, solid. A couple of them, Alfredo and A Written Testimony, are very good. But this is still a remarkably stodgy list — one that shows that the whole middle-aged respectability fetish that’s long plagued the Grammys is now embedded in its rap voting wing.

Freddie Gibbs and Nas and Jay Electronica and D Smoke and Royce Da 5’9″ are all gifted rappers who have done great work. Most of them could justifiably be considered legends. But none of them really show the world where rap music is, let alone where it’s going. By recognizing those albums, the Grammys have pointedly elected not to recognize something like Lil Baby’s My Turn, which is probably 2020’s most popular album in any genre and which is also a fine example of the 808-heavy depressive melodic-goo rap music that currently dominates the genre’s mainstream.

Other hugely popular, artistically important albums are also absent: Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake, Roddy Rich’s Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, Polo G’s The Goat, Gunna’s Wunna, Rod Wave’s Pray 4 Love. Instead, the rap albums getting nominated are the 2020 equivalents of the Steely Dan album that famously beat Eminem. That’s not an indictment of the nominated albums. It’s an indictment of the stuff the Recording Academy values. It’s also a cautionary look of how things might look if the Recording Academy ever gets its way, if rap comes to rely on accepted ossified skill-sets instead of its current state of constant, furious stylistic evolution.

As someone who’s around the same age as this year’s Best Rap Album nominees, I’m not all that amped to see emotionally troubled, pill-gobbling 20-year-olds dominating rap music. But those kids are crucially moving the genre past whatever old men like me might want it to be. Fortunately, there’s at least one Grammy category that has done a pretty good job capturing where things are right now, and that’s Best Rap Song. The list of nominations there — Lil Baby’s “The Bigger Picture,” Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” Drake’s “Laugh Now, Cry Later,” DaBaby’s “Rockstar,” and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” — isn’t necessarily perfect, but it’s a fairly accurate representation of the kind of rap that moves people right now. I don’t know why the division between the Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song nominees is so stark. Maybe it’s a signal that the album is increasingly irrelevant. Maybe it reflects two different voting bodies. Either way, it’s striking.

Look, the Grammys are weird. They are always going to be weird. Fiona Apple’s Fetch The Bolt Cutters should’ve been the biggest lay-up in the world, but it isn’t up for Album Of The Year. Instead, the Academy’s voters went for Coldplay and Jacob Collier and a deluxe edition of a Black Pumas album that didn’t even come out in the eligibility period. “Rockstar” and “Savage” are both up for Record Of The Year, but Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding is the only album that’s even rap-adjacent that’s nominated for Album Of The Year this year. I thought for sure that Lil Baby’s My Turn would be the token rap album that would inevitably lose to Taylor Swift. Instead, we didn’t even get one of those, and My Turn got snubbed even in its own category. Nothing makes sense.

But this year’s Best Rap Albums nominations still show a weird alignment between Grammy Voters and a certain streak of real-hip-hop rap conservatism. Watch out for that. Nothing good, except maybe a Freddie Gibbs Grammy win, will come out of that.

FURIOUS FIVE

1. Roc Marciano – “Downtown 81” It’s not on streaming services yet, but Roc Marciano’s new album Mt. Marci is out in the world now, and it is marvelous. (I can’t tell you whether the digital download is worth the $40 that Marci is charging on his website. Make your own financial decisions.) Right now, the only song out for general consumption is one of the few that Marci didn’t produce himself. (It’s a Jake One beat.) But otherwise, “Downtown 81” is exactly the sort of laid-back, intricately worded deadpan splendor that you can expect to hear on the LP, whenever it goes wide. So maybe that’s worth the price of a full tank of gas.

2. Meek Mill – “GTA” (Feat. 42 Dugg)

Meek Mill released his Quarantine Pack EP on Friday, and the track currently getting the big push is the downbeat Lil Durk collab “Pain Away.” But the real thrill here is in hearing Meek and 42 Dugg getting bracingly urgent over a Detroit-ass bassline.

3. Chief Keef & Mike Will Made-It – “Status” Sosa and Mike Will have evidently chosen to name their new song after this column. Gentlemen, I see this tribute, and I appreciate it. I love you too.

4. Willie The Kid & V Don – “Mother Of Pearls” (Feat. Eto) This is pretty.

5. Statik Selektah – “Play Around” (Feat. Conway The Machine, 2 Chainz, Killer Mike, Allan Kingdom, & Haile Supreme)

Once upon a time, maybe 13 years ago, I was apparently such a recognizable and influential part of the New York rap press that Statik Selektah noticed me at an MOP show, introduced himself, and tried to get me to listen to his mix CD. All these years later, Statik is a globally acknowledged boom-bap specialist with enough juice to put three of the world’s greatest middle-aged rappers on a track together. I’m proud of Statik. I bet he gets nominated for a Grammy someday.

The Sims 4: New Game Patch (November 12th, 2019)

Remove all MODS and Custom Content before updating your game

Happy Fall! We have a few new Holiday items available for you in Create A Sim to celebrate the holidays. Along with that a new Multi Story Column feature to help you build tall columns for a grand entrance or interior. UI Scaling is also available in the options panel to give you more options with our UI configurations. Want to know what Sims 4 content is out there? New Main Menu Message is now avail on load to easily help you find the latest and greatest content from The Sims 4. In addition, we’ve fixed bugs and community concerns to improve your Sims daily lives.

NEW & IMPROVED FEATURES

Multi Story Columns I’m not sure calling them multi-story columns is accurate. They are more like multi-height columns. Just go into the build catalog, place a column, grab the handle at the top, and drag it up and down to re-size. Some have a maximum size, others however… I think I topped out around 100 feet.

UI Scaling Now available in the Options menu – UI Scaling! Are you a 4k player with tiny user interface issues? Do you prefer your interface to be readable at distances greater than fifty feet away? Have you a desire to customize the scale to your personal preferences? Now you can! From the Options panel, open up Game Options, and choose Accessibility. Stay away from the red parts of the slider to keep things in the safe range for your display. But, if you are feeling adventurous, give it a try, go crazy! If for some reason you find yourself in a bad state, you can always reset – either from the options panel, or by using Ctrl+U to reset the scaling back to default!

Main Menu Messaging We know you want to know EVERYTHING about what’s going on, so we’ve added the ability to show you the latest and greatest Sims content on the Main Menu. You’ll be able to learn about free content, check out the latest updates on upcoming releases, pore over the newest blog posts, and more!

New Clothing We have updated the Holiday Celebration Pack with some new children and toddler clothing! If you haven’t already added the Holiday Celebration Pack to your game, click on the icon at the Main Menu, and download the free pack! From there, head on in to Create a Sim and select the Holiday filter to find the new assets! Children have a new male top, female top, and winter boots! Toddlers have a new outfit for males, a new outfit for females, and some shoes! Or open up the Styled Looks, where SimGuruMorgan created some great new looks with the content!

Music We have made the Hip Hop Radio Station available for everyone! This means that it is no longer exclusive to Get Famous. However, Get Famous specific music will still need Get Famous to be played.

FIXES & UPDATES

The Sims 4

Sims that dislike Fruitcake no longer react negatively to all other food. On the other hand, Sims that like Fruitcake no longer will react positively to Poor Quality foods.

Grab Meal or Give Food for all ages will now fulfill the hunger needs completely. Hopefully it will help with the 100 baby challenge Standard smile

Spoiled visual effect now will go away on servings from coffee and tea pots.

Sims will now place grilled food on the table appropriately instead of their inventory.

Terrain Manipulation brush and eraser cursor is now visible for all terrain tools in 32 and 64 bit mode on PC.

Fresh drinks are now available on the drink tray (for those who own Spa Day and/or Backyard Stuff). “Grab drink” from drink tray functions and will no longer give you an incorrect message.

Households populated in the “Other Households” tab in Manage Worlds can no longer be composed of just a Child.

Idle Sims will no longer drink water excessively.

Skin details no longer go away when randomizing Sim features other than the “Face” or “All” categories.
