Harsh hard sync and AM sounds.
Doing Waver better justice than in the last case with it here, using two oscillators to just push each other around with all sorts of cross patching. Cold mac takes a few CV sources in to act as a drifting macro controller. Now that I've started to patch it as such, I've started to identify a performance style I fall into, responding to said drift. The faders on Waver and Ikarie really lean into this - of course while any knob can be wiggled, some modes are more conducive to this than others.
Again on the performance side, I continue to use mutes on the Acid Rains to create breakdowns and builds. When I feel like more formally structuring a song, I need to create distinct A/B sections that I can switch around rather than fully cutting something out. Hopefully the next firmware update (allegedly in the works from the modwiggler thread) will include the multi-mute-dropping I've seen a handful of users suggest. Even without it though, banger modules.

Varial - Empty Club / Eurorack Jungle Techno Breakcore Drum and Bass
Back again with another live jam on the modular rig and 1010 blackbox making some nasty jungle! This time you get a close up of how I am mixing everything by hand as it goes into the audio interface which makes for quick editing later. As usual I am using the lower modular case for drums, the upper case as a four voice melodic groove box, and the 1010 blackbox for a pad, soundfx, and vocal samples. I've been enjoying the new song mode on the blackbox, makes it easy to make big changes with one button press and have it keep looping until you press another scene. I'm going to be working more on my liveset and mixing these tracks I've made so I won't have as many singe track videos but lots more videos planned with live set practice and rig breakdowns to come.

NIX is back with 'My Friend Was Eaten by a Modular Rack', a fresh release from Ocirala. Hailed for his hugely popular release ‘I Want To Lick Your Brains’, Ocirala now returns with a four tracker that veers away from his earlier vocal-driven work while maintaining his naughty style. 'My Friend Was Eaten by a Modular Rack', a year in the making, captures a collection of those odd yet perfectly cohesive tracks. The A-side delivers high-energy, club-ready tunes, while the B-side, though perfect for after-hours, retains the power to electrify any big system setup, all confirming Ocirala's talent for impeccable sound design. Wild synths, haunting atmospheres, driving drums and twitchy kicks, there is something for everyone. 🩵 Released July 5, 2024 Artwork: Julia Zakhartchouk Graphics: Sóley Lee Tómasdóttir

Using some unconventional sound sources to make something a bit anxious.
As I've been getting used to Traffic, the case I have set up only has Taiko and Daiko (and ABD) as voices. This was fine, but I found myself wanting an oscillator. Instead of restructuring, I got a little modular with it - the lead voice in this patch is actually Data Bender in micro mode with a frozen buffer, with time and repeats so high that it acts as a pseudo-wavetable oscillator, where modulation affects the waveshape.
The bass voice is Akemie's Taiko triggered by channel 3 of Traffic. Due to the way the channels choke each other, this creates novel riffs based on the first 2 channels being triggered, which makes Constellation's mutes an even more valuable performance feature.
My biggest gripe with Traffic, though, doesn't actually have to do with the module itself. But rather, how it interacts with Taiko. The drum samples the inputs as soon as it receives a trigger to synthesize the hit, but Traffic takes mere milliseconds to update its outputs, so using the two together leads to inconsistent drums - which can be good or bad. This is avoidable by programming a gate delay (in this case, I've been using uO_c Phazerville or Maestro), but it's a hassle nonethe less.

I've been working on making visualizations for my latest tracks, trying to keep it simple with looped images and lots of nice colors. Here's the first test for my track Quad Funk.
