Siddaramaiah Denounces Modi Factor, Decries Delayed Relief in Karnataka
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka recently addressed pressing issues facing the state and dismissed the notion of a "Modi factor" influencing the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. In an interview with The Indian Express, Siddaramaiah discussed topics ranging from drought relief to political dynamics. Here are the highlights:
Delayed Drought Relief: Siddaramaiah criticized the Central government for approving only a fraction of the drought relief funds requested by Karnataka. He emphasized that the delayed response and inadequate allocation have exacerbated the challenges faced by farmers in the state.
Absence of Modi Factor: Siddaramaiah asserted that there is no significant "Modi factor" influencing the elections in Karnataka or across India. He cited concerns such as economic stagnation, rising prices, and unemployment as factors overshadowing Modi's image.
Congress Guarantee Schemes: Siddaramaiah highlighted the success of Congress's guarantee schemes in reaching the impoverished sections of Karnataka. He expressed confidence that these initiatives would resonate with voters and bolster Congress's electoral prospects.
Critique of BJP's Claims: Siddaramaiah refuted BJP's allegations regarding the diversion of funds meant for SCs/STs under Congress's welfare schemes. He accused the BJP of spreading misinformation and challenged their record on equitable development policies.
Reservation Policy: Siddaramaiah defended Karnataka's policy of providing reservation to Muslims under the OBC quota, emphasizing its constitutionality and historical context. He criticized the BJP's opposition to this policy, labeling it as politically motivated.
Selection of Candidates: Siddaramaiah addressed concerns regarding the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, asserting that decisions were made based on merit and local feedback rather than nepotism.
Political Outlook: Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in Congress's electoral prospects, particularly in light of BJP's divisive politics and perceived failures at the national level.
Future as CM: Siddaramaiah clarified remarks made in his Assembly constituency Varuna, stating that his focus is on serving the people and strengthening his political mandate, rather than personal ambitions.
Siddaramaiah's remarks offer insights into the complex political landscape of Karnataka, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities facing the state in the ongoing elections.

PM Narendra Modi’s Southern Focus: A Strategic Political Move
In the dynamic landscape of Indian politics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strategic focus on the southern states continues to grab attention. Today, he embarked on a series of rallies in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, marking a deliberate effort to strengthen the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) presence in these crucial regions.
After a spirited kickoff in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu, where he joined forces with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP), PM Modi shifted his attention to Karnataka. His presence in Shimoga, particularly significant due to its association with BJP stalwart BS Yediyurappa, underscores the party’s determination to fortify its stronghold in the state. Despite internal dissent, symbolized by former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa’s independent candidacy, the BJP remains steadfast in its pursuit of victory in Karnataka.
The upcoming polls in Karnataka are poised to be decisive, with the BJP vying to replicate its impressive performance in 2019. However, the formidable presence of the Congress, buoyed by its recent triumph in the state assembly elections, poses a formidable challenge.
In Tamil Nadu, PM Modi’s roadshow in Coimbatore marks a strategic move by the BJP to expand its footprint in a traditionally unconquered territory. Despite facing setbacks in previous elections, the party has intensified its campaigning efforts, epitomized by state unit chief Annamalai’s extensive state-wide campaign. The alliance landscape in Tamil Nadu remains fluid following AIADMK’s decision to sever ties, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the BJP.
Amidst these political maneuvers, the Supreme Court is set to address the State Bank of India’s (SBI) response regarding the disclosure of unique alphanumeric codes crucial for tracing electoral bond donors. The revelation of donor details by regional parties adds a layer of complexity to an already contentious issue. The BJP’s assertion of non-obligation to disclose donor information underscores the need for transparency and accountability in political funding.
In parallel, the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) further amplifies the political drama. The AAP leader’s defiance of previous summons and allegations of ulterior motives behind the DJB probe add intrigue to an already charged atmosphere.
As the political landscape unfolds, all eyes remain fixed on these developments, shaping the trajectory of Indian politics in the days to come. Will PM Modi’s southern foray yield electoral dividends? How will the judicial and investigative scrutiny impact key political figures? The answers lie in the unfolding chapters of India’s vibrant democracy.

Karnataka Elections: Miscalculations of Narendra Modi
It is obvious that Narendra Modi and the BJP have not expected such a result. That was also the case of intellectuals like Surjit Bhalla. They were planning to write long essays on how Indian electorate started hating `freebies’ and demanding good quality infrastructure. Anyway, these results have shown the importance of real politics. Let us take a few miscalculations of the BJP and Narendra…

LEGACY OF CORRUPTION & INEFFICIENCY in KARNATAKA.
The corrupt legacy of Bharatiya Janata Party Government in Karnataka, marked with arrogance of power, blind eye to rising crime graph in state & religious intolerance shows that the party with a difference has taken people's mandate for granted. [01-05-2023]
Prime minister Narendra Modi's storming to power in May 2014 lok sabha polls with a strong vision to wipe out corruption by previous Congress regime has finally come a cropper. Now just a year away from May 2024 lok sabha polls, he has failed miserably on governance front when it comes to corruption. And it is his own bunch of ministers who have failed him. Though this blog here highlights the failure of Prime minister's own ruling party in a state, this is just a tip of ice berg of the massive rout BJP May face in upcoming state polls.
Looks like the way things are progressing in Karnataka, Mr. Bommai and his team have become synonymous with corruption. The BJP state government in Karnataka has earned itself the title of '40% commission govt', and this is certainly not my wordings. This was conveyed by Karnataka's contractors association chief D Kempanna. The latter was arrested, just because of corruption by state govt minister was highlighted. Not only this, just look at the judicial system, which without giving an hearing to Mr. Kempanna ordered his arrest including his office bearers. This is the state of emergency that things are in Karnataka. This is infact not only in Karnataka, but in all states where whichever party in power, has used law agencies to prosecute people who raise their voices against corrupt practices.
The aforementioned details given by Hindustan times, gives you a picture of Arrogance of Power.
As per recent news reports, reported from coastal Karnataka, a youth was particularly arrested by cops, the reason will leave you shocked, his only fault being he spoke ill of politicians, against their corrupt practices. Hence, this sums up, PM Modi's 'Sabka saath Sabka Vikas' blatant violation of human rights by cops, who arrest a person for raising his voice against corruption, but will turn a blind eye to politicians, party workers who flex their muscles, think they are a law unto themselves and indulge in all kinds of illegal activities with blessings of their political masters.
Now coming to the point, corruption by ministers in India is nothing new, it is a known fact. This particular blog is my frustration in case of a mother and toddler who died after a pillar collapsed on them in Bangalore.
The aforementioned report by Hindustan times dated, 9th Of February 2023, mentions how Mr. Suryanarayan Murthy vice - president BMRCL employees union (Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation) had written to CM Bommai, about widespread corruption and lethargic attitude of Managing Director of BMRCL.
Also, Nagarjuna Construction Company, tasked with construction at that site, is a company known, for FRAUDULENT acts, illegal practices and bribe officials to any extent to bag a contract. Infact, Telangana Government under chief minister K. Chandrashekhara Rao had even contemplated blacklisting NCC. So a company that had committed fraudulent practices in other states, which was well known, then why the he'll in the first place did the Karnataka Government give them the contract? Is the big question. The answer is also known. The current ruling dispensation in Karnataka, has famously earned itself a tag named as, 40 % commission Government. This has been highlighted in this very blog, of report by Hindustan times. The Karnataka contractors association had raised this issue, for which he was arrested by the Great Karnataka police. Corruption is so common and so much widespread in Karnataka government before under Congress regime and now under BJP that, Vidhana Soudha can be best described as the 'Hall of corruption'. Now coming to the main point, certainly the mother Tejaswini and her son Vihaan who died due to pillar collapse, were just not a wife a son to Mr. Lohith Kumar Solake, she was a citizen of India, independent since 75 years, and 75 years marked with total anarchy and corruption, she was a sister to me and scores of other common honest hardworking Indians. Did she and her son deserve to die? Why should their deaths go in vain? For how long should we citizens of India tolerate this corruption and lethargic attitude of governments under various ruling parties?
Hence, Mr. Basavaraj Bommai, how much kick back did your government receive from Nagarjuna Construction Company for awarding them this contract? Please answer. Now coming to opposition Congress, who as usual, will leave no stone unturned to play politics out of a tragedy, Mr. Siddaramiah what moral right, do you have to question the Bommai government on corruption, when your own party was in power, didn't your government indulged in corrupt practices too?
Hence, do not want to drag this too long, readers of this blog either in Karnataka or other parts of states, and even readers from foreign countries will understand my frustration. Corruption is a problem the whole world is facing. Coming to Karnataka state, the assembly elections are going on, and as usual CONgress and BJP leaders are indulging in mud throwing on each other. MLA's whose terms have ended have nothing to talk, regarding what development work they did, rather than talking useless things, igniting passions in the name of religion, is best what they can do.
Hence my dear, citizens of Karnataka, if you are thinking that by changing government in Karnataka things will change, then I am sorry, I feel pity on you. Please remember things aren't going to change. Because for both BJP and Congress, winning elections and coming to power is sole objective, with no vision for development at all and it has become a business for these two parties for generations to fool voters and we are becoming fools by falling for their false promises.
Hence, the only thing to teach these corrupt politicians and their parties the best lesson is to vote for #nota I.e. none of the above option in evm. NOTA for Corrupt free India is the best option now. Let the percentage for NOTA be overall on higher side. Let politicians get the message, even those who have won, or any party come to power, you are certainly not on wish list of majority of voter. But sadly will happen? Is the question?
