Trying to buy clothes while fat is an exercise in frustration. Modern, middle/low income fashion is trash. I was going through some plus size magazines that came in today, and was entirely unimpressed with the “styles” to choose from.

Rather than shopping for clothes, I feel like I’m going camping and buying a tent!

These photos are from three different magazines for three different companies. And yet they all sell exactly the same things.

Casual wear, professional wear, special occasions… they’re all shapeless TENTS!!!

(Expensive tents. Why are some of these things over $50? Unless they’re paying their workers proper wages ((doubtful)) then the same item in “straight” sizes is often half that!)

Does anyone have any options (not torrid, LB, woman within) that don’t look like you’re wearing a colorful sack? Nothing in my local donation places ever fit. I guess nobody my size throws out perfectly good clothing and instead wears it to death.

Because at this rate I’m going to have to bite the bullet and sew up everything myself…. And that’s gonna be a hassle and a half.

A little doodle of modern day casual fashionable laughter-loving Aphrodite and bodybuilder/gymbro Ares.

Aphrodite still adorned herself with tons of Egyptian and Levantine jewelry, proud of her Middle Eastern roots and her own home in the island of Cyprus, where Asia, Africa and Europe met together. I think that her style of would be something similar to the Levantine and Egyptian Arab Christians would wore today, in the East. Only veiling and modesty practices when coming into a holy place of worship, necessarily.

For Ares, I just styling him with comfortable athletic clothes layering on top of each other, with the usual jewelry collection that he wore. His EOK (Hellenic Basketball Federation) jersey is a tribute to Greek athlete Giannis Antetokounmpo.

July Redraw Challenge 2024: Link! 💚✨

I originally drew my “modern AU” Link back in 2019, but after playing Tears of the Kingdom, I knew I wanted to revisit this! I still semi-headcanon that he’s a farmer, but now I imagine he also got roped into modeling now that he’s out of his teens. I wanted to redesign the outfit, but as you may notice, my biggest focus was improving the contrast and lighting. I think rim lighting is super fun, but I’m still learning how to make it look the way I want…

Edit (7/20/24): I realized I could push the rim lighting a little more. You can see in the collage comparison that I didn’t put the final layer of white light, and that I had left the pupils white. While I like that stylistic choice sometimes, it wasn’t working for me so I made the pupils the background color instead.

So I’ll probably go back and update the cover image with a specially designed image… but I’m tired. So… later. I just need to not be putting it off any more. Any steps, are good steps.
