It wasn't rare for Shuichi to do his detective work around you. He wasn't distracted by you being there, if anything your mere presence comforted him and motivated him to keep it up.

He takes random moments to turn his head and observe you and you're sitting there, focused on what you're drawing, he'd look at you then go back to his work again

When he finally took a break he went to the kitchen to get himself some coffee and he returned with your favorite drink

When he handed it to you he didn't miss how you immediately covered up your sketchbook as soon as he came near

He raised an eyebrow but quickly came back to reality as you muttered out a "Thank you!"

In following days he had noticed how cautious you were around him whenever you were drawing. He tried to snuggle up to you only to take a look at your sketchbook but you threw it away with no hesitation and he was CONFUSED

When he came home from work he saw you in the living room. He wanted to be in your arms as soon as possible but then again he had to change so he went to bedroom

While changing into more comfortable clothes, he noticed a book on the bed.

He was fighting himself mentally. It doesn't matter if he's been staring at the ceiling thinking about what you were hiding in that drawing book of yours, he mustn't invade your privacy.

He placed the book back carefully as the guilt was eating him out. What was he expecting? He was overthinking while you were just admiring him-

He shook his head and started thinking of ways to take that blush off his face as he walked downstairs.

He feels guilt to his bones but he's consumed by his desire to see

And when he opens it he sees multiple drawings of himself, his face, outfits and even devas!

At the bottom of the pages he sees little doodles of you which makes him smile warmly

He is just sad why didn't you show him earlier? After he apologizes to you for looking at your stuff without your permission (and maybe stealing it) he's going to offer modeling for you

keep forgetting to post my mods over here, so have a few things that I worked on recently! (aka the only gposes I've done since DT started)

a bibo/kniku upscale of the new DNC artifact chestpiece! Kaede here is modeling kniku (as usual), and my beautiful girls @cassandra-allegra and @foamofthe-sea are in bibo med and small below!

also did a couple other horos-related things: a quick dancer bottoms mashup, and a simple position edit for the headdress so it doesn't clip auri horns

and last but not least: a bibo small/kniku med upscale of the minerise workshirt, because something that backless deserves the best quality of skin possible

The two of you almost immediately got along, which was good for you. You had your plan so being close with someone who wanted to expose you was taking away some of the suspicions against you given how many people trust her already.

That and since Kaede told you everything you could learn a lot of her plans and stay cautious. Well... In the end she only got to tell you one.

She didn't tell you about it exactly either, she was too smart for that. But you could see through her. So I suppose your plan of preventing her plans wasn't going to work.

You knew that she tried to trap you, so instead you tried to every moment with her count.

At the same time... You were excited to see her light be extinguished. You couldn't wait for the pain you'd feel when you lose her.

She was so kind, fun, lively. She made you want to never leave her side, and you already knew that she will leave yours.

Honestly you were quite the great actor to not show any signs of your upcoming despair.

She was someone truly special... In so many ways... Your heart couldn't help but flutter just for it to be crushed like her body during the execution.

And she never knew that it was all your fault. You were behind it, you went against your rules... But it's not like anyone could know that.

You could only imagine how much she'd hate you. Ah how you wish you could've revealed your true self to her and have her hate you.

Instead... You were only left with sweet memories of the sweetest girl in existence. Deep down... You know that maybe... It might've been a mistake letting everything end like this.

DAY 9: DANGANTOBER

Day 9: Favorite Blackened

It was very hard to choose who my favorite blackened was. There are so many great options, with such interesting murder plans, backstories, and character developments. But, I wanted to pick one that I thought played their trial with cunning and intelligence.

When talking about playing the trial like its a game, the Ultimate Gambler is the one that stands out.

I LOVED Celestia from the beginning of the game. Her aesthetics were so awesome, that gothic lolita mix was just so cute and interesting to look at. Her name rolled off the tongue, her ultimate was intriguing, and her voice was so nice to listen to.

I expected her to have some bite to her, and she DEFINITELY delivered. Her perspective on survivability is adaptability was an interesting perspective to hear, and its the first time its brought up in the series. The only other example of this that comes to mind immediately, is Angie from V3. Over the course of the game, we see more and more of her more aggressive side come out, typically directed towards Hifumi, such as the scene where he makes her milk tea, and she smashes the cup because it wasn't made the exact way she wanted it.

We stan a queen with standards.

In chapter three, Monokuma gives them the next motive, being ten billion yen as a graduation gift for whoever kills next. While the rest of the class starts insisting that no one would kill for money, Celestia begins to scheme. Most blackeneds have a very understandable reason for doing what they did. Leon was self defense, Gundham did it so everyone wouldn't starve, Kaede (erm, Mod Tsumugi are you forgetting-) was trying to kill the mastermind, etc. In their situations, we can still sympathize with them. But Celestia's reasoning? She wants to live in a castle with an army of the best vampire butlers at her beck and call.

God forbid women chase their dreams, she stated that dream with her whole chest and was proud of it too. Goals, minus the murder.

Now, I haven't actually sat down and thought through the intricacies of her plan, since the majority of murder plans in Danganronpa are extra for pretty much no reason, since they're built to be solvable and flawed. But she came with contingency plans.

First, she recruits Hifumi to her cause. Accomplices are allowed, but it's very underused. In fact, this is the first and only case with a real accomplice. The next closest thing to this is Kaito and Kokichi, since they were both in on it, but it still wound up following the same formula as every other trial.

Now, she loses points with me on how she convinces Hifumi to work with her. She tells Hifumi that Kiyotaka cornered her and did bad things to her (which he wouldn't do, not even as Kiyondo). I don't think it's okay to lie about this at all, there's so many other lies she could've come up with to get Hifumi to work with her, even ones that still pitted Hifumi against Taka.

Nevertheless, Hifumi is shocked and upset about what he's been told has happened, and that's further added to by Celestia saying that he hid Alter-Ego, which Hifumi had taken a particular liking to in that chapter. Typical character.ai user (I use character.ai)

Though, I will say, this case makes Hifumi more of a tolerable character, and even though there's a consensus that he's the most hated of THH, I can understand the people that enjoy him.

Hifumi and Celestia set to work on the plan, building the Robo Justice costume (which you KNOW Celestia probably wasn't happy with) and painting the Justice Hammers. They lure Yasuhiro to the Rec Room, knock him out, stuff him in the suit ala FNAF, and stage a photo to make it look like Hifumi and Celestia were attacked by this "mystery assailant". They put him in a locker like an 80s bully, and go about the rest of their plan.

They then get Taka alone in the Equipment room, and Hifumi kills him with one of the justice hammers. They then set up the rest of the false scenes of the crime, Celestia roughing herself up and assuming position in the Rec Room, while Hifumi goes to the library.

Everyone else (who have been running around the school to look for Hifumi, including Byakuya which I think is hilarious), bring Hifumi to the Nurse's Office, and split up.

Scooby Doo ahh chapter.

Hifumi fakes his death in the Nurse's Office while left alone, and the other half of the group finds Taka dead. This makes it look like the body discovery announcement was also for Hifumi, which the timing of that is precise and genius.

While everyone's distracted, Hifumi retrieves Taka's body, and takes him to the art room repository, where Celestia is waiting for him with a mallet to the skull.

Celestia is a trailblazer, the first in Danganronpa history to kill more than one person. She must've really wanted that money lol. I think she would've been caught eventually, she was running things too conveniently, but the game chalks up her being found out to two slip-ups.

One is when only one body had been "discovered", and she says something along the lines of "We're all going to die, just like those guys did", which Makoto thinks is weird because, at the time, only one body was known about. This could've easily been remedied by her saying the names of everyone else who had died so far, and no one would've batted an eye at that explanation.

The second one is Hifumi's miraculous revival in the repository, where he states that the killer is "...Yasuhiro..." before dying. Of course, Celestia tries to explain this away through Yasuhiro Hagakure, but Makoto says that Hifumi only refers to people by their last names, so he'd have said "Hagakure". I don't remember if they explain it, but how did Hifumi find out that Celestia's real name was Taeko Yasuhiro? I doubt she told him.

Finally, she paves the way for the other two chapter three blackeneds, starting to have the series first big meltdown. This is where we really get to see her crazy side shine. I'm a small voice actor, and I voice Celestia for a project. This scene was so, so fun to do, because I got to drop the little accent and just scream into my microphone. Her meltdown is infamous, and this sprite haunts my dreams.

Riddle me this, Batman. Are you a:

"Because, because, because. BECAUSE, BECAUSE, BECAUSE-"

"It's not fair, not fair, not fair, NOT FAIR NOT FAIR NOT FAIR-"

"Apologize, apologize, apologize, go on, apologize, APOLOGIZE-"

Because all three are iconic.

Anyways, even in her death, she's gracious. After being told she's been voted as the blackened, she doesn't start screaming or get angry at anyone. She keeps calm, and speaks to everyone in an amiable tone.

I believe this is a final lie she tells, this time, to herself. Because I don't care who you are, if you have just been told you're going to be executed, you're going to freak out. I think this is her last attempt to maintain a poker face, and go out on her own terms.

You can see it in her stating that, in her next life, she wants to be Marie Antoinette, and after being told that means she'll just be executed again, she just smiles.

''Perhaps we'll meet again, in another life."

To analyze her, despite what she preached about adapting, she was arguably the most desperate person in this entire game. She had a big dream she had been working towards, that she had done so much for, and now she's been trapped in a place that will ensure that dream isn't reached. Of course she wanted to escape by any means necessary. Not only did Monokuma provide a way out, but the means to make her dreams come true in the motive.

I think the money would have been worthless in the aftermath of the Tragedy.

She lied to everyone, and presented herself as the person she wanted to be. She was Taeko Yasuhiro, but she wanted to be Celestia Ludenberg. She denied absolutely everything that would link her back to her actual self, even in the beginning when Makoto asks her if she's actually Japanese or not. The persona of Celestia Ludenberg was the ultimate poker face, and what she aspired to be.

There is a lot of underlying themes of self hatred within her, stating that 'Yashiro is a loser's name', and it's something that should have been explored. It makes her execution even more messed up, since the reason she's initially smiling in her execution, is because it's one that is grand and representative of what she aspired to be. The harpsichord, the method of death which wasn't a death belonging to commonfolk, and even the name "The Burning of the Versailles Witch", all spoke to her lofty, posh dreams. Then, Monokuma mows her down with a fire truck, a common death of a common person.

All in all, she's a bit of a girlboss, a trailblazer when it comes to future blackeneds, and there's so much more that could be discussed about her.

But, let's take comfort in knowing that her cat, Grand Bois Cheri Ludenberg is presumed to be alive and thriving in the Tragedy.

First off, given what happened with Mod Freeze, I don’t blame you for worrying about the Hiyokers coming after you. But it also made me realise that a lot of ask blogs, including ours, really like to subject Hiyoko to horrible fates. Never out of hatred, but it’s an interesting coincidence that she either dies, gets suicidal depression, or otherwise.

Secondly, one of the most difficult parts about these blogs I find is filtering out what counts as character hate, and what is said for the sake of the story. I know I normally don’t talk about my blog when I send asks here, but with Survivor specifically, I remember a few years back when there was one particular anon who really hated Kaede, called her out on every minor thing and verbally abused her regardless of whether what she did was good or bad, and then started rounding on me for pairing her with Shuichi. Which sucked ass.

But it’s different when that stuff is directed towards a character like Tsumugi or Kuripa for instance. Tsumugi gets hate asks ALL the time, but of COURSE she does; she’s a VILLAIN. And as for Kuripa, it’s always a What The Hell Hero situation with him. So even if some asks can be harsh, they are warranted.

So it’s hard to maintain your standards when it comes to these things. I don’t know if this is specifically an issue that I struggle with, but it’s important to filter out the generally abusive askers so they don’t bother you later down the line and you can deal with them swiftly.

//Yeah, you really need to curate what asks you get because that can lead to you helping to foster a particular type of audience. You let people do wild things, they'll be more inclined to do so because that's now accepted.

//Red from OSP put this well when she said that, by showcasing insecurity in your work and choosing to undercut the emotional beats in your story with humor because you worry people will mock you, you actually alienate people who were actually invested and draw in those who are comfortable mocking you. After several months of forgetting, and then finally starting to get stuff together only to forget what day of the week it was: Merch Monday has officially become Merch Whatever-Day-I-Remember (Ideally Monday When Possible). But I AM finally back on it!

And of the things that are overdue, the Chiaki Zine is having their leftovers sale, so it seems like about time for me to do a write up on it!

Firstly, the zine itself!

I love this zine. I don't consider myself a Chiaki stan, but this is one of my favorite zines I own. And while of course part of that is from a fantastic set of art and writing, a LOT of it is because of the theming. I had expected the video games to be a loose theme, but it was very tight - every single piece prominently featured a game, and the only repeats were in easter eggs like the Pokemon plushies in this Sims piece.

As someone who makes and loves video games, it was so cool paging through this and seeing all the references. They're all done with exceptional care. It takes a moment to figure out some of them just because of adjustments to match Chiaki's visuals (it took me a long time to figure out this was Sims because of the UI not being blue!) but most clock on sight.

There's a list of all the games referenced in the back so that you can check against yourself. The only thing I wished for was some sort of reference for which games were on which page, so that you could get the general sense of the ones you didn't recognize to investigate further. The theme makes this zine feel incredibly tight and well-crafted, in addition to the zine itself being high quality without any immediately noticeable defects.

This print is one of the things I was most excited for with merch! It has started to bend a bit now that it's been a few months, but not more than any other print I own. It's nice and smooth, texture-wise. And really cute!!

These stickers are very cute (for some reason I forget to get a picture of the larger Pokemon sticker sheet? Hopefully I'll remember to grab another one before this post is scheduled). The Smash Brothers are SO tiny!! That's not a bad thing, I just hadn't expected it. I picked up Sakura's Peach since she's my own Smash main (and namesake!) and Aoi's Daisy, and then my favorite fight girls. Part of me does want to order a couple more so I can get the super interesting concept of Mario Chiaki/Peach Sakura and my other main Isabel/Kaede. The stickers themselves are only 50 cents each, not counting whatever shipping!

This is actually one of the reasons it took so long to review the zine, as when I finally opened it up, it had a big crack across it. They got me a replacement more or less as soon as they switched shipping mods, and I had no trouble with the new one! I wasn't actually that excited about this keychain, but it's really growing on me.

I honestly didn't expect to love this zine as much as I do. It's so cute, and lots of love and care was obviously put into it. I have no significant complaints about it or its quality. I would definitely recommend grabbing it while you can!

22 and 23!

22. What’s a setting you’d love to see for a Killing Game?

Space. Like they’re stuck in an enclosed setting with no windows that could be anything and it’s just revealed they’re in space. I think that would be pretty cool. I had an idea about something like that years ago, and bought into the idea that was what the V3 setting would end up being.

23. Which are your top three favorite beta designs?

First up is Kaede.

The hat really complete the look. I like it a lot. And a lot of AUs, like Pokemon AU and stuff I just give her the hat because it looks nice on her.

Next is Kirumi.

This one is a nice look for her that goes with her vibes and aesthetic so well, any one of them could have made it in and I don’t think anyone would have complained.(There’s a joke here about serving up c*nt while serving your master here somewhere)

And lastly is Himiko!

The bear hoodie with the stars and planets is just so adorable I love it. I guess I get why they would have to change it because Kaito’s the astronaut, but Himiko needs something like this. This is her PJs, let’s canonize it!

Kaede Angst Saga: Extra!!

Kaede ducked behind the couch, watching a beer bottle fly over her head and smash into the wall. The stairs to her room were on the other side of the room, which out ruled running away.

Her mother had come home exceptionally drunk, which wouldn’t have been an issue if her father didn’t have one of his ‘friends’ over at the same time.

A screaming match soon turned into a brawl. Kaede had unfortunately gotten home when her mom was choking out the poor girl on their floor.

Because she was stupid, she pulled her mother off the girl and successfully got her out of the house. Of course, that left Kaede as the only vent for a drunk woman’s rage.

The minute Kaede felt a fist connect with her cheek, she saw her father grab her mom by the neck and throw her onto their glass table, shattering it.

Now she was here, stuck hiding behind a couch and listening to her parents abuse each other.

Kira walked down the stairs and stared at Kaede and then past the couch. She attempted to walk back up the stairs but was nailed in the back of the head with a mystery high heel, as it definitely wasn’t from the set her mom was wearing.

Kaede’s heart dropped, seeing Kira’s head smack into the railing and then the stairs underneath her with a disturbing thud. This didn’t stop her parents though.

The incoming sound of police sirens entered Kaede’s ears and her eyes widened. She made herself smaller and pleaded to be anywhere but her own house.

The front door was knocked down and multiple officers entered the house and apprehended her parents. Another officer ran towards Kira while one helped Kaede to her feet.

It was all a blur as she watched her handcuffed parents being removed from their home and Kira being moved out on a stretcher.

She was sitting outside her house with the officer, waiting for one of her relatives to pick up the phone. The air was cold and there wasn’t a single visible star. How fitting.

A bandage was applied to her cheek and Kaede touched it gently, she didn’t even realize she had been bleeding. It must’ve been a cut from her mom’s ring.

She was soon informed that her aunt would be coming to pick her up. Kaede couldn’t even muster a smile, what was she supposed to be excited about?

Even with her aunt reassuring her that everything would be okay, Kaede had already heard the officers discussing her living environment. She would be getting removed from her home as both of her parents would be going to jail for assault and battery charges as well as presumed child abuse. All of which Kaede couldn’t disprove.

Despite her parents being awful, Kaede didn’t want to be left on her own. She barely knew her aunt, the comfort of her room was about to be destroyed and it wasn’t even her fault.

The whole arrest had gone on some dumb tabloid network because Kaede, being a Hope’s Peak student, was apparently famous.

So when she walked into school the next day, the whole class was staring at her, but Kokichi was absent. She chose to stay silent but dropped her aching smile, realizing she couldn’t fake her way out of the situation.

Luckily, she lived in a dorm, so the process of moving wouldn’t affect her so much. But the looming news from the hospital kept her with a pit in her stomach.

Kira had hit her head hard. So hard that she’d gone into surgery for something.

Kaede could barely process if she was happy or sad about the news. Sure, Kira was one of her tormentors, but she was still the same age as her. They were both still young, and Kira’s venom was probably her way of dealing with the trauma of their home life.

She sighed as she opened the door of her dorm, ready to pass out. She was quickly surprised by a party popper going off in her face.

“Happy Parent’s-Finally-Got-Arrested!��� Kokichi shouted. There was a platter of clearly store-bought cupcakes on her desk and a gaudy banner handing over her bed. “Sorry the party is so minimalistic, if I had known in advance, I would’ve rented a venue!”

Kaede couldn’t understand what was so great about it. Her parents had just gotten arrested, her sister was hospitalized, and she was being removed from her home. “So you decided to throw a celebration for this? What’s wrong with you?”

Kokichi’s smile fell. “Bad timing?” He asked, tossing the party popper in the trash with excellent accuracy.

“Yeah,” Kaede humorlessly laughed, “Shitty timing, even. Thanks for throwing a party for the worst event of my life, Kokichi. Real considerate.”

She hadn’t even realized the tears rolling down her face until Kokichi wiped them away with his sleeves. “Hey, Kaede, I’m sorry. I don’t know how to comfort people, so this was all I could think of.”

She gently pushed him away, “Just get all of it out of my room. I can’t do this right now.”

Kokichi quickly removed any evidence of the ‘celebration’ and came back two minutes later. Kaede scrolled on her phone, too tired to process any of the information being relayed to her.

She felt a weight on the edge of her bed. “You’re always welcome at my place.” Kokichi muttered.

“What?”

Kokichi blew a puff of air, “My house isn’t shit like yours. I wanted to ask you earlier, but I figured you’d think I was rubbing it in your face.” He got closer to her, “So if you can’t stand being at whatever new house you’re staying at, come over to mine.”

“Aren’t you homeless and an orphan?” Kaede asked, not a hint of humor in her voice.

“What kind of dumbass did you hear that from? I’ll have you know I live in the biggest mansion in the country and have hundreds of siblings from all twenty of my mothers.” Kokichi snickered.

His exaggeration made Kaede crack a smile. “You’re so different from how everyone else sees you. I like that.”

“Isn’t that the same for you?” He laid down, spreading his limbs out.

Kaede laid down, purposely laying on his arm, “I guess so. But do you mind that?”

“I’d have to be an idiot to dislike anything about you.”
