TAC Registration Services: A Comprehensive Guide by Fusion Compliance Services
In India, obtaining a TAC (Type Approval Certificate) is essential for manufacturers and importers of telecom equipment to ensure that their products meet the regulatory standards set by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). TAC registration is mandatory for any telecom product being imported or sold within the Indian market, ensuring that these products are safe, reliable, and compliant with the necessary standards. At Fusion Compliance Services, we offer comprehensive TAC registration services, helping businesses navigate the complex regulatory process and achieve seamless market access.
What is TAC Registration?
TAC registration is a certification process carried out by India's Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), which is part of the Department of Telecommunications. The major goal of this certification is to ensure that telecom items, including routers, modems, mobile phones, and wireless devices, meet the necessary technical standards. These requirements ensure that the goods do not affect the telecom network, provide quality performance, and comply with safety rules.
Why is TAC Registration Important?
TAC registration is vital for any company involved in the import, manufacturing, or distribution of telecom equipment in India. Non-compliance can result in penalties, product recalls, or even a ban on the sale of non-compliant devices. Here are a few key reasons why TAC registration is important:
Ensures Product Safety: TAC certification guarantees that telecom equipment does not pose any risk to users or the network.
Facilitates Market Access: Without a valid TAC registration, manufacturers cannot legally sell their products in the Indian market.
Boosts Consumer Confidence: Certified products instill confidence in consumers and business partners, as they meet stringent quality and safety standards.
TAC Registration Process
TAC registration is a multi-stage process that requires both technical skills and knowledge of Indian telecom legislation. Fusion Compliance Services offers end-to-end assistance to businesses, assuring a seamless and quick certification procedure. Here's an overview of the TAC registration process:
Product Testing: Before applying for TAC, the product must undergo rigorous testing to ensure it meets all the necessary technical and safety standards.
Application Submission: After successful testing, an application is submitted to the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), along with the required documents and test reports.
Document Review: The TEC reviews the submitted documents and verifies the test results to confirm compliance with the standards.
Issuance of TAC: Once the application is approved, the Type Approval Certificate is issued, allowing the product to be sold in the Indian market.

RAF practices the rapid relocation of fighters for the defense of UK airspace
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 21/08/2023 - 15:00 in Military
The Typhoons of the Royal British Air Force (RAF) have improved the resilience of the United Kingdom's air defense, relocating throughout the country without notice.
Four Typhoons from Squadron XI (F), RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire were instructed without notice to be transferred to the Boscombe Down base, Wiltshire as part of the Agile Pirate Exercise. They were tasked with being ready to operate the Quick Reaction Alert - to respond to potential air threats in or near UK airspace - without delay, testing the RAF's ability to quickly disperse and operate vital assets for the defense of the United Kingdom.
Tumblr media
Later in the exercise, they joined two F-35B Lightning aircraft, with the fifth-generation fighters also taking the opportunity to test their operability on an unknown air base.
The exercise is part of the RAF's goal of conducting Agile Combat Employment or ACE. It is an approach to operations that requires RAF personnel and assets to be flexible and agile; operating in austere locations with minimal support, constantly moving and changing locations to maintain initiative and overcome any action of an adversary, whether in the United Kingdom or abroad, alongside our NATO partners and the Joint Expedition
Tumblr media
"The whole series of Agile Pirate exercises are springboards for the RAF to get better and better in the execution of Agile Combat Employment. This exercise showed that we can move our Rapid Reaction Alert around the United Kingdom, and future exercises will test other vital capabilities focused on the defense of the United Kingdom," said Air Marshal Harvey Smyth, Commander of Air and Space.
Support teams from various bases provided operations, engineering, logistics, communications, security and service for the implementation of Typhoon. They also did not receive prior notice, but were able to leave their bases 3 hours after activation. An Atlas A400M transport aircraft delivered a large amount of essential equipment to Boscombe Down a few hours after activation and a day later the deployment was operational.
Tumblr media
"Advancing at a pace presents its own challenges and we force some assumptions to advance even faster. Agile Combat Employment will change our current mindset and our way of operating, and I think, in many ways, it will bring the best of our people; ready to deploy in a shorter time, participating in newer activities and operating without the usual support structures of a core operational base. My experience in Exercise Agile Pirate 10 is that people are thriving at this level of responsibility,” said Wing Commander
The Typhoons were on hold in reinforced aircraft shelters and were in the air minutes after an alert call from the Tactical Air Command and Control, known as Tac Air C2. Experts from the 19º RAF Boulmer Squadron dispersed at radar locations across the United Kingdom to provide a complete view of the situation, called Recognized Air Picture, and control the triggered aircraft to intercept simulated threats. They achieved several successful interceptions of target aircraft and, as a result, their greatest dispersion of Tac Air C2 assets in decades, demonstrated the RAF's ability to deploy and operate quickly in austere conditions.
Tumblr media
The Boscombe Down base is home to the tests and evaluations of military aircraft. It is a former RAF site that has been operated by QinetiQ since 2001. QinetiQ was extremely positive in supporting the exercise - providing airfield and air traffic services, refueling and motorized work areas. The RAF Typhoons previously conducted the Quick Reaction Alert from Boscombe Down in 2012 to the Olympics.
The deployment of the RAF, otherwise, strove to have a minimal footprint and impact on the site. This meant catering provided by the Mobile Catering Squadron of the RAF - 3MCS, communication links of the 90 Signals Unit, airfield security provided by the RAF Police and accommodation in tents.

In less angry Breakpoint news, here's a guide to killing Behemoths Solo:
I'm mostly writing this because the only similar guides I found was a dude literally saying use a 50,000 dollar helicopter to do it which is cowardly, lame, a cop out, and also unreasonable because as stated before, helicopters are trash in this game. And another whose guide wasn't really that useful in places without high ground and also was inaccurate since he was saying to target the wrong spots on the beasts.
WHAT YOU NEED:
A high powered sniper rifle, I've used both the Tac-50 and Barret to great success.
Explosives, Rocket launchers and Grenade launchers specifically.
EMP grenades.
Rolling Thunder - +40% weapon damage against drones with sniper rifles.
Sensor Hack - 30% harder to be detected by drones and a flat 10% damage bonus to drones.
Pack Mule - +40% ammo capacity.
OR
Explosives Expert - damage and aoe bonus to all explosives.
Optional: A vehicle with explosive weapons.
HOW TO KILL IT:
Step 1: if you have an attack vehicle, be it a helicopter or APC, roll up and missile fuck the shit out of the Behemoth until it destroys your vehicle disturbingly quickly. If you do not have a vehicle skip to step 2.
Step 2: once you've ditched the flaming wreckage of your vehicle or showed up on foot, fire a rocket launcher at the tanks armor to break it off and reveal the tender glowy bits.
Step 3: abandon a step by step process and instead do the following, keep mobile Constantly, you should be circling around the area constantly. Use your explosives to knock off the armor, afaik they do fuck all to the things health pool beyond that so don't bother with them once all the armor is gone. Using your sniper rifle, take regular shots at the now exposed glowing red innards, the blue bits are mostly just to stun it so don't bother with those as EMP grenades are a more reliable way of stunning it anyway. Tho it seems to immediately recover after being shot regardless of the grenades tier so keep that in mind. Keep moving and shooting until it eventually explodes, you will have no warning when this happens as the thing acts no differently from when it's at full health to when it's seconds away from destruction. Yes it is supposed to feel like you are doing fuck all too it the whole fight, it's bad game design.

Call of Duty: Warzone – Top Loadouts for Uzi
The fans of shooting games always consider Uzi a small and sweet weapon, but it’s potential in Call of Duty: Warzone is so much bigger than its size. Players have a very strange connection with this gun, and it can be obtained pretty easily. It’s among those common weapons that can be located anywhere and don’t require drops to obtain it. However, as time changes, players have experienced several changes that happened with Uzi.
Some players of Call of Duty: Warzone think Uzi is perfect as it is. A huge number of players prefer to use it with its best builds. Using it with the right builds can improve its tear rankings, and then it can be used as a primary or secondary weapon. Uzi is a rapid firing, powerful gun that can stumble the Meta.
It’s a 9mm submachine gun that comes with a 32 round magazine. Players can use it as semi-automatic and fully automatic with its high recoil value. Mainly, Uzi helps in close range because its firing speed and close encounter damage are incredible. By using this weapon, players can run faster. However, to reveal the full potential of Uzi, it is necessary to use it with the right loadouts. So if you’re not aware of its best loadouts, here is the list for you.
Call of Duty: Warzone Best Loadout for Uzi
Ammunition – 50 Round Mag
Barrel – 16.5″ Factory Carbine
Laser – Tac Laser
Muzzle – Monolithic Suppressor
Underbarrel – Commando Foregrip
By using the following build, players can increase its accuracy, control, and range. Uzi’s mobility is perfect by default, but the following loadout will decrease it but will improve it in other ways. Monolithic Suppressor usually hides gunfire location, but with Uzi, it helps in better ways. It also helps to increase the accuracy and range of Uzi. While using Uzi, it’s a must-use attachment to look for whoever wants to perform better.
Tac Laster increases the hip-fire rate and decreases the recoil value. The 16.5″ Factory Carbine barrel enhances the range of the weapon that increases the damage. Some players believe that Commando Foregrip is useless with Uzi, but it does help in some vital situations. It enhances accuracy and keeps the recoil in control. While the 50 rounds ammo stops players from spending their time reloading the weapon. If you used all these attachments with Uzi, it could surely give some good results in the battle.
Uzi may not be considered a reliable weapon in high-level battles, but its power is no less than several SMG weapons and a few ARs. There are several reasons to love this weapon, but the biggest one is its quick response and easy handling.
Conclusion
Adding new weapons and new attachments for players is nothing new in Call of Duty: Warzone. The developers of Call of Duty: Warzone keep the game interesting by offering new weapons, loadouts, maps, challenges, and many more things. But when it comes to Uzi, players use it as a secondary weapon and often use it in close combat. To get the best result, players should use it in close range with the right attachments.

The always brilliant @colinyogin thanks for the repost @simscarey Posted @withrepost • @simscarey Repost from @colinyogin using @RepostRegramApp - When people say "I'm not good at yoga" they usually mean they are not flexible.⁣ ⁣ This is hangover from years of using contortion to promote yoga. For the better part of a century, yoga teachers have been using the performance of extreme asana to market themselves as experts.⁣ ⁣ Competitive yoga asana gives us a really good window into this mindset. Not only are entrants judged on the appearance of the pose, but also on the impression of effortlessness on their face. It might be super painful but yoga champions make it LOOK easy.⁣ ⁣ You might be popping anti-inflammatories like they are tic tacs, but that doesn't matter as long as your postures are dazzling and you make it look easy.⁣ ⁣ The result: hypermobility among teachers is rewarded and students learn to emulate it. After a few generations everyone imagines that yoga is all about putting your feet on the back of your head while smiling.⁣ ⁣ This is my thing though: what if some people are just naturally hyper mobile? Just like some people are just naturally tall. Would you ask a tall person to help you learn to get taller? Wouldn't it make more sense to ask a short person what they do to be happy and comfortable in the body they have? ⁣ ⁣ We need more inflexible yoga teachers. People who simply cannot do the fancy stuff. People who have used yoga to become pain-free, relaxed, confident, and capable in their bodies. These people have something to teach. They have experienced the same struggles as many of their beginner students.⁣ ⁣ My advice: if you are going to push your limits start with pushing the limits of your kindness. Be nice to yourself. Get a another foam block. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7HHOdSgWh0/?igshid=t03yhe84cr1i

Technology is changing our world dramatically and has a significant influence on our everyday activities. What are the new tools for graphic designers? Is this new technology can replace the artist job of a graphic designer? How can we keep up with this emerging multimedia technology?  The MDD410 course helped me to learn and explore all the emerging technology in the multimedia career field.
I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for the MDD410 course. In the begin, it was to fill my academic requirements. But with the progression of the class, my interest in the different topics began to increase. All research in new technology helped me to expand my knowledge and get more prepared to talk with futures clients and employees. I realized with this course that it’s essential to learn all the new software and applications to help us to work in our field faster and easier. There are new great tools that reduce the tedious and repetitive process to help us to focus on the creative and artistic part.
The discussion activities helped me to realize that I need to expand my technical knowledge in new trends like 3D applications, Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligent (AI), and mobile apps. More and more 3D printers will become an essential tool in all houses and industries, and as a graphic designer, we need to keep up with this new tool to express our creativity. AR is the next trend, and more applications will upgrade to have this capability, and we have to be able to create versatile icons to increase a positive experience to the user.
Lab projects were very instructive and helped to learn more about the Google drawings. I enjoyed to create multiple user games like the tic tac toe and give me ideas to create more games, diagrams, and charts to share with my friends and future clients from anywhere at any time. The program is simple with tools easy to access and understand to create and share quick drawings.
I never thought of having a blog as a part of my social media, and I realized the blog helps to expand my network and build a community of colleagues, and people in my career field. Another benefit is to share knowledge with experts on specific topics in graphic design, trends, or new multimedia applications. And using a blog can connect to my future and current clients to build a better relationship and customer care.

10 Best iOS Game Templates
Have a great idea for an iOS game but are turned off by the hours of tedious work involved in bringing your concept to life? Well, that’s what templates are for. Why waste time reinventing the wheel when CodeCanyon is filled with a brilliant range of iOS game templates that will help you cut through the drudgery and focus on the best parts of creating your own game?
To get you started, we’ve scoured through the almost 300 iOS game templates we have available and found the ten best and most current we have available today.
1. FIVES
One of the top sellers at CodeCanyon, FIVES challenges players to create as many five-letter words as they can before the game’s timer runs out. Every time players match a word the timer decreases its time a little, to give them a bit of a reward. Players also have the option of sharing their best scores on Facebook and Twitter.
The FIVES template uses Xcode 8.x and Swift. It supports internationalization to multiple languages and comes with a comprehensive PDF User Guide to help you customise the game to suit your interests and tastes.
Users have commented on the template's “excellent code”, “good documentation” and “great support follow up”.
2. Brain Teaser
A great app for priming the memory and deepening concentration, the aim of Brain Teaser is for players to remember and draw connections between faces, shapes or words displayed.
The template is designed to be edited with Xcode. It's easy to reskin and supports AdMob out of the box.
3. iMath Educational Game for Kids
Designed to increase concentration and enhance problem-solving skills and information-processing speeds, iMath is a fun app that challenges children and adults alike to complete basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division equations under time constraints.
The app is easy to reskin and supports monetisation with Chartboost and AdMob ads. It also includes Yahoo Flurry Analytics so that you can track every aspect of your app's performance. This template is written in Objective-C.
4. Sudoku
Sudoku is a popular puzzle game that initially displays a partially filled grid. The aim of the game is to fill each square with a number from 1 to 9. Each number can only appear once in the same column, row or 3 x 3 box. This app comes in five levels—from easy to expert—and once begun a level can be saved to continue playing later.
Written in Objective-C, the template supports AdMob and is easy to reskin.
5. Catch The Monsters Geolocation Game
Following on the huge popularity of Pokemon Go, the goal of Catch The Monsters is for the player to find monsters in their area or an area they're visiting. When the app locates a monster, the player needs to get within at least 50 meters of them in order to catch them, earn points and move up the Top 10 Leaderboard. Players can also share their stats on social media, by mail or SMS.
The Catch The Monsters template comes with an admin interface, using the Parse SDK on back4app, that allows an administrator to name the monsters and place them in anywhere in the world. The app comes with a PDF User Guide and PSD icons included.
It's one of the best rated apps in its category on CodeCanyon, and users comment that Catch The Monsters has “easy code, great design, excellent customer support”.
6. 2048 Rounded
The 2048 Rounded game is a spin-off of the classic 2048 number puzzle game. The aim of the game is to get one tile to the number 2048 as quickly as possible by swiping the numbered tiles up, down, left or right so that matching tiles merge and are added together.
The template is written in Swift and can be edited with Xcode. AdMob is supported for easy monetization.
7. Flappy Clumsy Dragon
Tap the screen to fly the Flappy Clumsy Dragon, avoid obstacles, and fight with enemy birds. The best score is displayed on the leaderboard, and players can share results on Facebook and Twitter.
Graphics aren’t included with this template, so you'll need to reskin it with your own assets. The developer has created a reskinning tutorial to make it easy for you to create your own version of the game.
The template is made with the Lua language and the Corona SDK, so it will be easy to create an Android version too, if you want. The template also allows admins to include a popup window to encourage ratings. If you want to see how it works, you can try the demo right now on the Apple App Store.
8. Rush Hero Game
Made with Cocos2dx and Objective-C, the aim of the Rush Hero Game is to move the hero to the left or right out of the path of falling rocks which will crush him. The template includes some fun graphics and great sound effects that are triggered when the hero gets hit.
The game comes with layered PSD files for all the assets, which makes it easy to reskin. Some of its outstanding features are the best score and game rating social features, as well as support for monetization through ad networks and AdMob banners. Indian Hackers Carve Out a Remarkable Niche for Themselves on Global Stage
The rapid changes in the business models and the working of organisations has not only evolved daily lives and communication, but also generated new threats in the cyberspace. The development of new models, services and products have brought changes in the landscape of security, which today remains undermined at the hands of the hackers.
To save the trouble come ethical hackers with extensive knowledge of information security and measures to secure an organisation’s assets. They have skills to improve the security of networks, systems, and applications, utilising different methods to exploit computer systems and discover vulnerabilities. A data suggests that the number of hacker-powered security programmes in the Asia-Pacific region, has grown by 30 per cent year on year.
Ethical hacking is not a new concept in India, where the efforts to cyber security have surged three-fold with evolving cybercrime activities. India has several young individuals that possess hacking skills. They have even done hacking with the legal permission of companies to test and increase the security of their systems and networks. In an era of digital transformation, these hackers fall in the list of top hackers in India.
1.Trishneet Arora: Founder and CEO of TAC Security, a cybersecurity startup, Trishneet Arora is considered one of the youngest ethical hackers in India. He started the company back in 2013 with the motto – ‘Hack it yourself, before you get hacked’.
Amid the changing cyber security landscape, TAC Security became the first Indian cybersecurity company to work with a US government law enforcement agency. This Indian firm analyses the behaviour and tactics used by malicious hackers to target digital assets of thousands of companies around the world. It also has an office in Dubai.
Today, TAC security has tested more than 300+ mobile applications. Moreover, Arora with his hacking skills has actively helped his clients – National Corporation of India, Punjab National Bank, Amul amongst others.
2.Shivam Vashist: A hacker from north India, Shivam Vashist is associated with San Francisco-based HackerOne, a vulnerability coordination and bug bounty platform and boasts of clients like Starbucks, Instagram, Goldman Sachs, Twitter, Zomato and OnePlus.
Vashist opted for hacking as a full-time career and today is well known by his handle @Bull https://twitter.com/v0sx9b. He believes that computer security has not been prioritised in a digitised India, a fact that has left more unchecked vulnerabilities in computer systems.
Cybersecurity awareness, education about security solutions and reaching out to the community of ethical hackers are some of the ways with which India could become cybersecure in the near future.
Vashist once said, “Hacking gives me a high when I am able to think of creative ways to tackle the challenges and discover vulnerabilities that no one has yet found.”
3.Anand Prakash: Also a security researcher, Anand Prakash is renowned for finding bugs in some of the most popular apps and websites throughout the world. As an ethical hacker, he has earned huge prizes from companies that allowed him to hack their systems and show them their security flaws.
Over time, Anand has discovered vulnerabilities at companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Uber.
Anand is ranked in Facebook’s top list of bounty hunters and third in Twitter’s bounty program, globally. He has personally helped more than 400 companies around the world to become more secure.
In 2017, he was also featured in Forbes “30 under 30” for enterprise technology in Asia.
4.Deepanshu Kher: The former Delhi-based IT consultant, with a superior talent for interpreting customer requirements, has delivered several budget solutions to maximise business performance and reduce costs, both domestically and internationally.
N 2017, Kher was employed by an IT consulting firm. In the same year, the consulting firm was hired by the Carlsbad Company to assist with its migration to a Microsoft Office 365 (MS O365) environment.
However, until recently he used his hacking skills to access the server of California-based Carlsbad Company and deleted over 1,200 of its 1,500 Microsoft user accounts.
5.Brigadier Ram Chillar (Retd.): One of the greatest cybersecurity and defence experts in India, Ram Chhillar demonstrated huge abilities in strategic leadership. He took retirement from military in 2014. Later, he co-founded cybersecurity companies both in India and Dubai, considering the real-world cyber threats.
Phronesis Corporate Intelligence Services is one such cyber-intelligence firm that Ram Chillar established along with partner Retired Brigadier Prabhakar Bryan Miranda. The firm offered a blend of corporate intelligence and corporate communication services amid the changing cyber landscape.
Through the medium of firms like Phronesis, Ram Chillar responded to the pressing need of the hour in the wake of growing cyber attacks. Not only did it provide security services like penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, but also performed hacking and vulnerability testing for threat validation.

600,000 GPS trackers left exposed online with a default password of ‘123456’
Avast researchers found at least 600,000 GPS trackers manufactured by a Chinese vendor that were exposed online with a default password of “123456.”
Researchers from Avast discovered at least 600,000 GPS trackers that were exposed online with a default password of “123456.”
The devices were manufactured by the same Chinese vendor and the use of the same password poses severe risks to the users. Attackers could spy on the users, listen conversations made in the environment surrounding the GPS tracker, get and spoof the location of the tracker, send an SMS message to an arbitrary number to obtain the telephone number of the device and use SMS as an attack vector, replace the firmware of the device.
Avast focused its analysis on the T8 Mini GPS tracker manufactured by Shenzhen i365-Tech, a Chinese IoT vendor.
Conducting a scan of 1M IMEIs, Avast identified 29 different models of trackers sold by wholesaler Shenzen i365, and discovered that some models are being sold under different product names.
All the models have the same backend infrastructure composed of a cloud server to which GPS trackers reported, a web application that allows users to check the tracker’s location, and a mobile app with similar features that also connects the cloud server.
Avast researchers found multiple issues in the implementation of the Chinese vendor, but the most severe one is that all user accounts use an easy to guess user ID and a password.
The GPS trackers use the same password of ‘123456’ for all the devices and the IMEI as users IDs, and experts noted that it was sequential allowing its enumeration.
“According to the specification, IMEI should be 15 digits long where the last digit is a so-called control digit. When we searched a bit more we found full IMEI inside the tracker (Figure 8) itself and later also on a small sticker on the box.” reads the analysis published by Avast. “The first part of so-called TAC consists of various sub-parts, but for simplification, we can say that it is assigned to the vendor in much the same way as prefixes of MAC addresses. What it also means is that the numbers of all other trackers are predictable and you can easily enumerate them. In combination with a fixed password, that means we could log into about 25%  of devices in this sequence of IMEI numbers.”
The scan made by avast revealed that more than 600,000 accounts were still using the default password, even if it is possible to change it.
The use of default passwords represents a serious problem also for the Chinese vendor.
A hacker or a malicious competitor could hijack the accounts before the GPS trackers are sold and change their passwords. This means that real users will face problems after the purchase of the device and will contact the customer support flooding it of requests and additional work.
Avast attempted to report their findings to the Chinese firm, but it hasn’t received any reply, for this reason, the security firm decided to publicly disclose the issues.
Owners of the GPS trackers listed in the Avast report must change their passwords as soon as possible.

How to Survive the Ongoing Confusion With SEO
Search is one of the most vital – and misunderstood – components of a content distribution strategy.
The ongoing algorithm shifts initiated by the search engines make it hard to be confident that you’re doing everything you can to optimize content performance.
As part of CMI’s new Mastering Content Marketing video series, we asked Courtney Cox Wakefield, digital marketing manager at Children’s Health, to share her view on trends shaping the search landscape, and the challenges and opportunities they hold for content marketing.
You’ll find the highlights of our conversation filmed at Content Marketing World 2018 in the video below. Keep reading for a more detailed analysis of some of the key issues Courtney discusses. I also offer a few steps you can take to preserve your brand’s search influence and authority – even in the face of Google’s ongoing assaults on outbound link building.
youtube
New ranking factors rock the boat
One of the most talked-about shifts in the search world this year has been Google’s transition to mobile-first site indexing – i.e., crawling the mobile version of a site page to analyze its content and determine its ranking rather than using the desktop version.
Though Google insists that having your site content included in its mobile-first index is not a consideration in its ranking algorithm, the company notes (in a series of tweets) that overall mobile-friendliness of your site content is (and will continue to be) a ranking factor.
Courtney offers her take on what this shift might mean for marketers:
Mobile is really the most recent thing that’s made a big impact because Google used to look first at our desktop factors – so, what was going on our desktop – in order to figure out how they were going to rank us. Recently, within the last year, they have slowly started rolling out mobile-first rankings; so, they’re basically saying, ‘OK, we’re going to look first at the ranking factors for mobile. What are you doing on mobile, on your mobile site?’ Whether that’s a responsive site, or a separate mobile experience, or no mobile experience at all, they’re going to be ranking every search based on those mobile experiences.
Google is going to be ranking every search based on #mobile experiences, says @CourtEWakefield. #SEO Click To Tweet
Consider: In his analysis of the subject, SEO strategist Mike Murray contends that, whether or not mobile-first indexing directly affects rankings now, the fact Google shifted its priorities strongly suggests that meeting its high standards for mobile-friendliness and content quality is something marketers should pay extra attention to.

Latest word on voice
In her Content Marketing World presentation, Courtney discusses a sleeping giant among search ranking factors that’s poised to crush other factors under its tremendous weight – voice search.
Indications already are appearing that the growing smart-speaker market will make a huge dent in the way consumers search for information. For example, data from Alpine.AI reveals that over 1 billion voice searches are conducted every month, and comScore estimates that by 2020, 50% of all searches will be voice-based.
Why does it matter whether consumers search for information using their voice or their fingers? Well, for one thing (as I point out in my recent deep dive on the topic of voice technology), digital assistant devices deliver only one search result per inquiry.
Digital assistant devices deliver only one search result per inquiry, says @joderama. #SEO Click To Tweet
This makes reaching the coveted top SERP spot a heck of a lot more important. It also makes the path to achieving this critical goal – and measuring the impact of your content’s progress to achieve it – a lot more complicated. It’s a pressing concern, Courtney admits, that the industry isn’t adequately prepared to handle:
Voice, the things that we can do for it now, they’re limited because we don’t have a lot of measurement for voice. It’s not separated out in our Google Analytics. There’s not a lot of things that we can say, OK, I know this works because I can point back to this metric that shows that my traffic for voice is going up. The number of impressions I’m getting for voice is going up. We don’t have those things. What we have to look at is these proxy metrics, which nobody really likes, but they’re there and it’s what we’re stuck with right now.

Google gobbling your lunch?
Since the beginning of search, there’s been an altruistic exchange in play between content marketers and the big G: Brands allow search bots to crawl and index their site content for free in order to supply the useful information and answers consumers rely on search engine results pages (SERPs) to provide. In turn, Google offers outbound links that direct back to the marketers’ site pages so the brands can capitalize on the extra attention and continue the conversation on their home turf.
But Google (and other search engines) has slowly and slyly started to rig the system against content creators by developing no-click features that ensure that the consumers’ path of discovery stays firmly within Google’s walled garden. The increased prominence of Google’s self-hosted solutions – including its answer boxes and featured snippets, Google posts, and knowledge panels – may provide greater convenience for consumers who want immediate gratification. By breaking the terms of this unstated social contract and killing organic reach, Google is leaving content marketers little choice but to make a few strategic changes of their own.
In his recent presentation at Brighton SEO, search expert and SparkToro CEO Rand Fishkin admits it won’t be easy for content marketers to keep the Google goliath at bay, but he offers strategic and tactical moves brands should prioritize in their content optimization efforts. They include:
Emphasizing tools, interactive features, data-driven stories, and other types of content experiences that drive clicks rather than providing quick answers
Doubling down on branded demand creation so that consumers are incentivized to search for you directly (rather than for broad keywords that you may or may not rank for)
Creating content for the platforms Google prioritizes (e.g., YouTube, G News, Google Maps)
Building brand profiles on the sites that rank well in your space and/or forging content partnerships with influential publishers that dominate the SERP for your top keywords
Think beyond SERP-based metrics
With Google seemingly set on cannibalizing brands’ traffic, another area where Courtney thinks marketers urgently need to make some changes is measurement:
We have spent a lot of time as an industry using clicks and traffic as a metric for success, and we’ve called other things vanity metrics, but I think clicks and traffic are vanity metrics. Ultimately, the only real metric is ROI. What money are you making from this?
This may be accurate from a pure search engine marketing (SEM) perspective; however, in the world of content marketing, the path from a click on a SERP to a sale isn’t as direct as it might be with pay-per-click advertising. This is where some of the softer ranking factors – influence and authority – are likely to come into play – something Courtney acknowledges and addresses:
I think we’re going to have to shift majorly as a marketing industry to say we’re going to lose clicks – and that’s OK because we’re building influence, and that’s what’s most important.
And that’s where getting more proficient with your content marketing holds a distinct advantage over relying on marketing techniques like SEM because the discipline is built on compelling consumers to view your brand as the go-to source of valuable, trustworthy information on the subject at hand. As Courtney says:
Just because you don’t get a click, it doesn’t mean you’re not building influence. It doesn’t mean that somebody doesn’t see you as that source where that content came from. So what if they get their answer right there? If they see that the recipe that they’re looking at came from allrecipes.com, well, the next time that they need a recipe, they may just go straight to allrecipes.com. It’s really hard to track that success back to that time that you showed up in the answer box. Ultimately, it builds influence and it makes people more likely to search you out as a brand in the future.

Content conclusion
Even if you can’t compete with Google’s self-serving strategic shifts and ongoing algorithm adjustments, your business still stands to reap strong benefits from search’s value exchange – as long as you focus less on counting the clicks and more on creating content experiences that satisfy consumers’ underlying needs. As Courtney advises:
One of the things with SEO is making sure that people stay engaged with your content and don’t leave and go back to the search engine results page and click to somebody else. Google is tracking that type of behavior. They know when people aren’t satisfied with the content that they get on your page. Building engaging content, like what Drew (Davis) was talking about in his (Content Marketing World) keynote session; and making sure that people are engaged, that you keep that tension, that you really answer their question but have that big payoff at the end, that is so important. Even though it’s not a direct ranking factor, it influences a ranking factor that can really make a difference for your content and your ranking.

Byron Reese: This is Voices in AI brought to you by GigaOm. Today my guest is Paul Daugherty. He is the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Accenture. He holds a computer engineering degree from the University of Michigan. Welcome to the show Paul.
Paul Daugherty: It’s great to be here, Byron.
Looking at your dates on LinkedIn, it looks like you went to work for Accenture right out of college and that was a quarter of a century or more ago. Having seen the company grow… What has that journey been like?
Thanks for dating me. Yeah it’s actually been 32 years, so I guess I’m going on a third of a century, joined Accenture back in 1986, and the company’s evolved in many ways since then. It’s been an amazing journey because the world has changed so much since then and a lot of what’s fueled the change in the world around us has been what’s happened with technology. I think [in] 1986 the PC was brand new, and we went from that to networking and client server and the Internet, cloud computing mobility, internet of things, artificial intelligence and the things we’re working on today. So it’s been a really amazing journey fueled by the way the world’s changed, enabled by all this amazing technology.
So let’s talk about that, specifically artificial intelligence. I always like to get our bearings by asking you to define either artificial intelligence or if you’re really feeling bold, define intelligence.
I’ll start with artificial intelligence which we define as technology that can sense, think, act and learn, is the way we describe it. And [it’s] systems that can then do that, so sense: like vision in a self-driving car, think: making decisions on what the car does next, acts: in terms of they actually steer the car and then learn: to continuously improve behavior. So that’s the working definition that we use for artificial intelligence, and I describe it more simply to people sometimes, as fundamentally technology that has more human-like capability to approximate the things that we’re used to assuming and thinking that only humans can do: speech, vision, predictive capability and some things like that.
So that’s the way I define artificial intelligence. Intelligence I would define differently. Intelligence I would just define more broadly. I’m not an expert in neuroscience or cognitive science or anything, but I define intelligence generally as the ability to both reason and comprehend and then extrapolate and generalize across many different domains of knowledge. And that’s what differentiates human intelligence from artificial intelligence, which is something we can get a lot more into. Because I think the fact that we call this body of work that we’re doing artificial intelligence, both the word artificial and the word intelligence I think lead to misleading perceptions on what we’re really doing.
So, expand that a little bit. You said that’s the way you think human intelligence is different than artificial, — put a little flesh on those bones, in exactly what way do you think it is?
Well, you know the techniques we’re really using today for artificial intelligence, they’re generally from the branch of AI around machine learning, so machine learning, deep learning, neural nets etc. And it’s a technology that’s very good at using patterns and recognizing patterns in data to learn from observed behavior, so to speak. Not necessarily intelligence in a broad sense, it’s ability to learn from specific inputs. And you can think about that almost as idiot savant-like capability.
So yes, I can use that to develop Alpha Go to beat the world’s Go master, but then that same program wouldn’t know how to generalize and play me in tic-tac-toe. And that ability, the intelligence ability to generalize, extrapolate, rather than interpolate, is what human intelligence is differentiated by, and the thing that would bridge that, would be artificial general intelligence, which we can get into a little bit, but we’re not at that point of having artificial general intelligence, we’re at a point of artificial intelligence, where it could mimic very specific, very specialised, very narrow human capabilities, but it’s not yet anywhere close to human-level intelligence.
