Hi! Sorry to bother you, I'm trying to scout through and see if anyone who has the ultra age book can tell me what it says about Manual? I know there's a page about him and he's currently listed as 'unknown' on the wiki because they never confirmed his status after the twice clones, so I'm desperately asking folks who have the book to let me know what it said. Again, sorry to bother you!

Well...

this is the page that has Manual in.

Take it with a HUGE ounce of salt but it seems it says he has a versatile personality that can handle any situation, that he chose his Hero name because he wanted to be a role model for modern Heroes and it seems Monoma praised him in an interview.

Also it mentions his role in the war (keeping water around the eyes of Eraser Head and Monoma to prevent dryness).

I'm willing to bet that at the end of the war he was alive and well since the manga presented the Heroes as hardly suffering casualties but I've honestly didn't spot the text talking about him in other spots so everything is possible. I hope it helps!

The one number 222 hero who trained Iida despite knowing his initial intentions, played a key role in the Paranormal Liberation War and the Final War, without him many more lives would have been lost. Proved that a strong quirk isn't a must for a strong-willed person.

This man gave so much, he deserves recognition.

Title: Love Tensei Rated: Explicit  Summary:  Everyone has a crush on Tensei, but Tensei only ever had a crush on one person. The problem is it doesn't happen until later in life, and he's clueless about romance.

Title: Down the Aisle Rating: Teen+ Summary:  A lot is expected of the firstborn of a hero family. Tensei has tried to escape it, but can't seem to get out from under his parent's thumb.

Title: Lost Time Rating: Explicit  Summary: Tensei meets up with an old friend, romance ensues, and the world can't stop talking about it. The deeper the press digs into their personal lives the more they find, and the worse it gets. All the while, Masaki is helping Tensei cope with what Stain took from him, and his new reality.

Title: Drifting Home Rating: Teen+ Summary: The Iida's have a monthly dinner where the family gathers to catch up. Tensei will be there for the first time in three months, and he's bringing someone with him. Tenya isn't too keen on it, but everyone else wants to know who it is, and how they met.Take a peek into Tensei's past and learn of his first love, and the tragedy behind it.

funniest pair to resolve the usj incident actually (bonus points if this was a gran torino tutored hawks au). all might rushes onto the scene and both gran torino and hawks are bickering about school protocol while beating up kurogiri, shigaraki, and the noumu

hawks: ahahaha uhh gran torino i feel like i'm perfectly capable of evacuating the kids while fighting?? at least half of them aren't very good at combat??

gran torino: they'll be FINE, if they want to be pro-heroes so bad, they oughta have one life-threatening experience under their belt

hawks: SIR PLEASE THE COMMISSION'S STILL SETTLING THE LAST CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT

gran torino: OH, SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE A RAT?

For the 5 hcs, au where fuyumi, manual, gran torino, and hawks all teach at ua. Bonus if nedzu teaches a homeroom or something

Can't help but think about something my coworkers discussed this week: the difference between teachers who had to take some kind of child psych course, and the teachers who didn't.

1- Fuyumi is a first year teacher who got her degree in education and licence to teach the traditional way, paying for those classes with the money she made as a hero part time. She didn't believe in only trying halfway to be a teacher just because it was at a hero school. (Being a teacher was her real dream. A hero teacher was a compromise with her father's expectations.) Manual went through a teaching program and started a couple years ago, so he's got a little more experience than her and almost as much training. Hawks went through a brief, truncated program to teach, and Gran Torino just... Got hired by Nedzu some time ago, no one questions his qualifications but honestly everyone should.

2- as teachers with the most experience, Torino and Manual have hero homerooms. Torino was given 1A this year to watch out for All Might's successor, and 2A is just glad he didn't move up with them. Manual has 1B and is not used to being on the same grade team as Torino- nor to running a rivalry with him but when Torino starts it, you kinda have to get with it or get run over.

3- Fuyumi has a homeroom 1C, and takes a role similar to Midnight's- she teaches a lot about image and how to project what is the best for you, how to pick agencies and the strategy for communicating with them. She's also given announcer duties at the SF as a notable hero, but not too popular on her own to run the third year stage instead. She's honestly glad for her homeroom, it's a bit like the normal teaching gig, and she gets to travel to work and back home with Shoto every morning.

4- Hawks honestly wanted a lot of the job Fuyumi got, but instead teaches Rescue more than anything else. He was sent to UA to be the Commission's eyes. Nedzu is aware, and that's why he's kept a bit away from the main campus most of the time, and why he was picked to announce the third year stage at the SF.

5- All Might's favorite fellow teacher is Manual, because he's terrified of Torino, feels bad relying on young Hawks, and as helpful as Fuyumi is, it's her first year too. Manual can be a great teacher mentor though, reviewing his lesson plans for the first years with a careful eye! (And honestly, a pale face almost passed out from the compliment.)

Manual is conflating two ideas together here.

One: Heroes shouldn't be motivated by their personal grudges in their hero work. And this is indisputably true and a lesson Iida needs to learn.

Two: If you use your quirk, your own individuality, in a way that isn't explicitly sanctioned by the government, you are a villain and a criminal. Which to an extent is a factual statement about the current state of their laws, but it's not exactly a good thing

It brands people who can't control their quirks to being villains by nature. It also creates a sense of learned helplessness in the civilian population. Not to mention the implication that vigilantes are arbitrarily acting according to personal grudges. We know that isn't true as heroes started out as vigilantes and from several characters introduced in the Vigilantes manga.

It's not surprising Iida doubled down on being a rule follower after this arc considering his mentor introduced these two separate ideas as if they were intertwined with each other. But in the end, one is a good lesson and the other is the source of hero society's current problems
