David Warner. Usman Khawaja’s Calm Reaction To Mitchell Johnson’s Critique: A “Hero”
Australian player Usman Khawaja has strongly retaliated against Mitchell Johnson’s critical remarks about David Warner.
Speculation that the opening batsman David Warner didn’t deserve to be in the team has centered on Warner’s selection in the Australia team for the Test series against Pakistan. In his piece, former Australian bowler Mitchell Johnson took aim at Warner and the Australian selectors following his inclusion in the Test squad in spite of his dismal form. Many people have taken issue with Johnson’s criticism of Warner; Australia batsman Usman Khawaja described Johnson’s remarks as “harsh”.
Tumblr media
Writing in his West Australian column, Johnson questioned “why a player at the centre of one of the biggest scandals in Australian cricket history warrants a hero’s send-off?”
However, Khawaja stated that he views two of the three players at the core of the ball-tampering affair, Steve Smith and David Warner, as heroes.
“In my opinion, Davey Warner and Steve Smith are heroes,” Khawaja stated to the press. “They had a difficult year in Australian cricket, missing a whole year of play, but they have made amends.
“Everyone is not flawless. Mitchell Johnson has flaws. I’m not flawless. Steve Smith is not flawless. David Warner has flaws.
“What they have done to advance and improve the game surpasses all else they have accomplished.

This tradition has been passed down through countless generations. And I jumped the line. And not only did you go through without permission or prep, but you did it old-school, with a diviner in a kree temple. Uh, that hasn't happened for thousands of years.

God Tier Top Gun Fanfictions. A Masterlist. (2/3)
Part two of my fanfic recommendation! This one's for the best series!
Winner Categories:
1. Best of the Best Authors (1/3)
2. Best of the Best Series (2/3)
3. Best of the Best Fics (3/3)
REMINDER! READ THE AUTHORS' TAGS AND WARNINGS!!!
Best of the Best Series
Some of the best series where every work is a banger. Binge read these and have fun!
and i think it's gonna be a long, long time by boasamishipper @boasamishipper
The Captain Marvel AU of Top Gun, with Maverick Mitchell as Carol Danvers and Iceman Kazansky as Maria Rambeau.
These are so fun and interesting! I love how well Ice and Mav fit in the Marvel universe. My favorite is this one:
screaming in the sonar
“Kazansky’s missing,” Fury says. Everything in Maverick’s body goes cold. He feels like the very breath from his lungs has been sucked out, leaving him nothing but a gaping chasm of terror. “What?” “He was reported missing three days ago; I just found out today. There were signs of a struggle at his house, and…” Here Fury hesitates, and Maverick knows that whatever will follow cannot be good. “There was a ransom message left on his communicator, Maverick. It was written in Kreeglyphs.”
Mav going berserk because they hurt Ice. Chef’s kiss. I keep rereading these stories every few months and I’m always delighted to read it again. boasamishipper, your brain is truly magnificent!
look at the sky and you will always find me by dangerousinlove @gohoubi
Iceman/Maverick fics.
Seventy five, SEVENTY FIVE of some of the most creative and heart-wrenching Icemav fics. It’s short, but a lot of them have categories, like Retirement-Verse or Wolf!Iceman-Verse, so if you’re looking for bite-sized fics within the same universe, check these out. My favorite:
blood in the water
After his cancer, Iceman finds out that going back to normal is harder than he thought.
Heavy angst, like really heavy. Absolutely decimated my heart. But it’s a possible scenario and it makes me sadder when I think about Ice’s cancer and how surviving affected him.
Gayboy Airlines & Goose, LLC by aelibia @topgunreacts
Bits and pieces of Maverick's life as an amateur and later pro dom. Also Ice is there.
Of course, aelibia deserves a second mention because they’re just that good. Aside from AortaArgent, aelibia’s one of the authors I trust to write about sex. Their writing makes blood rush south but also to the heart. My favorite:
Product Testing
Somebody has to test out all these sex toys. Might as well be Ice and Maverick. [oneshot series with standalone chapters]
The portrayal of Icemav’s sex is fun and familiar, the kind of act born from years of vulnerability and complete trust in each other. It kind of showed me that sex can be fun, it doesn’t have to be so hot and serious all the time. You can get off but you can laugh while doing so. Overall, a very good portrayal of a different kind of sex that I don't often find.

When the National Association of Christian Lawmakers held its National Policy Conference at Liberty University earlier this month, participants on one panel discussed ways to take advantage of the far-right majority’s control of the Supreme Court to “unwind” the separation of church and state. During a separate session, participants, led by radical right-wing conspiracy theorist and anti-choice activist Janet Porter, discussed a plan to enact laws mirroring the one passed in Texas in 2021 that allows anyone to sue a clinic, doctor, or any person who facilitates an abortion for up to $10,000 and apply the same strategy to LGBTQ issues in public schools.
During her remarks, Porter bragged that she has been working with Jonathan Mitchell, the right-wing attorney behind the Texas abortion law, on her efforts to draft this model legislation and she practically cackled with delight as she unveiled her slogan for it: “If there is grooming, a lawsuit is looming.”
“What if, instead of us putting out all these fires in this library and in this school and in this county, what if we stopped it at the source?” Porter said. “What if we put together a bill that says, hey, guess what, if you’re involved in any kind of grooming … if you don’t tell mom and dad what Johnny and Susie are reading, then you’re liable to a lawsuit.”
“This addresses the transvestites, the Drag Queen Story Hour, the outside speaker that they bring in from GLAAD or from Planned Parenthood or from whatever the name they pick for the latest homosexual activist group,” Porter continued. “I had been praying for years, ‘How do we address the alphabet mafia?’ You know, the LGBTQRSTD. How do we go after that and get it out of our schools? … We can actually take out the grooming, we take out the pedophilia, the sodomy, it’s all listed in this bill. … Essentially, we’ve got a bill that says if Johnny or Susie comes home with any material that violates this long list of anything from pedophilia to grooming to the LGBT agenda, then guess what? They are opening themselves up to a lawsuit.”
Porter then bragged that “just like” the Texas bill, her legislation is crafted so that “we can sue them and we can get the legal fees, [but] if they sue us, they can’t get legal fees.”
“I’m laughing,” Porter admitted. “I’m like, ‘Can can we even do this?’ Well, we can. That bill’s [been] upheld. The court did not strike it down and that same kind of language is in here so that we’re not opening up parents to legal fees.”
“So, it’s just a bill that says again, if you do this, then you will be held accountable, whether you are a teacher, whether you are a librarian, or whether you are an advisor to the gay club on school, whether you are someone who brings in an outside speaker, or the outside speaker,” Porter declared. “We’re going to be able to say, if there is grooming, a lawsuit is looming.”
vimeo
Founded by zealously anti-LGBTQ and anti-choice former Arkansas state legislator Jason Rapert, the National Association of Christian Lawmakers regularly holds conferences at which Republican leaders, like House Speaker Mike Johnson, and religious-right activists plot strategy about how to enact their radical political agenda throughout the country, largely through model legislation that is specifically designed to be taken home by participating state legislators and turned into law. The ultimate goal of the NACL is to “take authority” over every level of government across the nation and one day put one of its members in the White House.

Just found out Peter Renaday died a few days ago…
He voiced Easy Pete, Doc Mitchell, No-Bark, and dozens of other elderly New Vegas npcs.
Edit since some people on other apps have been saying he didn’t voice any Fallout characters:

A quick epilogue thanks to @caystar13star for this one reminds the other of the past
Rear Admiral Bishop slides in to the bar stool besides Admiral Johnson.
“Recognise some familiar faces today?”
Johnson laughs drily. “Kazansky, Kerner and Mitchell? Yeah.”
“They’ve all grown up. Mitchell looked like he’d been shot after the presentation. Did you see?”
He had, it’s the reason he was stewing over beer at the open bar of the hotel. If he were to hazard a guess, it had something to do with Dr Blackwood’s use of a highly confidential photograph.
He sighs. Nick Bradshaw was a good man and some of his last words to him were spent calling him an asshole.
“I did. You know what happened, everyone does. It seems Maverick wasn’t expecting it.”
Bishop hums, twisting a coaster around in circles.
“Seems a bit crass to use it. Besides the fact I thought all photographs from the incident were locked up until Kingdom come.”
“They are,” Admiral Johnson grits out. “How the hell she got the clearance to use them I don’t know. And the shit about human nature was uncalled for, no matter what grievances she’s held onto since teaching with Maverick.”
Just as Bishop goes to voice his agreement, the two Admirals see a pair of familiar faces darting out of the elevators and making a bee line to the front office. Collecting his beer, Bishoo tips his head and raises his glass.
“Godspeed to those three, something tells me they’ll need it.”
