So... I've been listening to woe.begone. And I just realised that polish equivalent for Mikey is Miś or Misiek and both of them literally translate to "bear" (well, more like teddy bear but you get my point). It's just very fucking funny, considering it's Mike "I'm The Bear" Walters we're talking about.

What are the main trolls' etymologies?

We'll share a few since we'd be here all day if we delved into every single one, we do have some silly ones though so bear with :)

Febrez Galvan - This is probably the most silly one, I was in the bathroom after about 2 hours of trying to come up with ideas when I saw a bottle of Febreze. His last name is also quite obvious, Galvan as in Galvanization, a term used generally when working with metals (He is a mechanic after all!)

Tsoray Vodnik - Tsoray backwards is Yarost, which is generally a term shared by a few slavic languages for a rage/frenzy. Vodnik is a bit more on the nose, and literally translates to "Aquarius" in most slavic languages, as he is a violetblood.

Mixiek Kakkki - Mixiek came from Misiek, the Polish word for teddy bear, which was our Project Lead's nickname growing up. The last name Kakkki was quite literally only chosen because one of the other trolls that they interact with doubles up on Ks in their quirk, making their last name "kkakkkkkki" in their quirk. The intended pronounciation is "Khaki" or like "Clacky" without the L, but we're not going to stop you if you'd prefer to pronounce it "ka-kuh-kuh-ki" 😅

Madame Anastasia would be a really good name for a gym leader imo. But she's really Iga Lisowski.

Bombirdier - Storks are considered one of the national animals of Poland, where Iga comes from. In addition to that, there's the whole legend of storks delivering babies. Something Iga helped facilitate for Kingston.

Flapple - I had to pick the skinniest, weakest looking dragon type pokemon I could find to represent Misiek. I think I did.

Gothitelle - She's giving the kind of cunt I bet Madame Anastasia gives as a tarot reader and I bet her daughter Jessica loves it. More importantly though, it can predict the future by reading the stars.

Hoopa - Iga's warlock subclass is Genie, so I had to give her the djinn pokemon. It's said to have the power to bend dimensions, kinda like how Iga's chest is a tardis-thing. PLUS, it has a true form and a bound form, which reminds me of Iga hiding the fact she has magic and how powerful it is.

Mimikyu - A pokemon hiding its true form to avoid the persecution of others... Yeah.

Kangaskhan - The parent pokemon, perfect for the most mom ever. Its highest priority is to protect its children, just like Iga.

for dimension 20 names, La Gran Gata is a classic (i think i spelled that right). also Kalina and Pib are obvious ones.

D20 familiars: Cinnamon, Wretchrot (Baby for short), Yak or Sprinkle or Preston (ACOC), Luna (Pete's familiar, also ties to Latin which isn't greek but it's close), Misiek (TUC2), Baxter (technically a griffon but close enough), Ox, T2

Other D20 related names: Chimeron, any stoat names, Gilear, Zaphriel, Murph, Axford (specifically for a mischievous cat), Little Beans (as a nickname, but i guess a full name if you wanted)

Also Nat, and if anyone asks what it stands for you can say Nat 20 (or Nat 1 depending on the day)

i had to call upon my mythology friend (who unfortunately does not have tumblr so i cannot tag them) for the mythology things because the only thing i could come up with was Cerberus which would be funny but maybe not what you're going for

For a loud cat: Echo

For a fast/mischievous cat: Hermes

PJO-specific names: most of the above, apparently there might be a pegasus named Blackjack or something, also Nico

our overall favourite rn is Cassandra (also includes Cass or Cassie for short) because of the overlap.
