A lively song from the renowned medieval German poet, Neidhart von Reuental (ca. 1190- ca. 1237). Von Reuental belonged to the era of the Minnesaenger, singers singing about Minne, or love. Meie din liechte schin means May Your Light Shine.

This is so pretty, I thought you might like that. ☺️🎶
It's Mittelhochdeutsch (Middle High-German) and this song is from the 13th century. I think it is very beautiful and catchy and I enjoy listening to it, the lyrics here are given in English as well in the video! The song is called "Der wahter sanc von minnen wol". I've also been listening to songs in Middle English and Old French and I'm so in love! 🥰

Franz casually said that he can tell if a headmate is attracted to him or other headmates, or is going to be in the near future. He thought that was normal. He never mentioned that before because he thought everyone in our system experienced that. We don't. He is as far as we know the only one in our system who can do that.
Everyone I say that to is really surprised. I jokingly called Franz "minnezouberære" but like "love wizard" does describe him very well. Also this explains something about him.
#he knew i was attracted to moss before even i knew that#and he said that to me like 'see i can prove that i know who you're attracted to even though you didn't even tell me'#like yeah. i didn't tell you because i didn't even know#franz thinking things are universal for our system and ending up being the only one it applies to yet again#(also please don't ask why i said it in middle high german instead of new high german)#(i was still thinking about minnesang and minnezouberære is kind of better than liebeszauberer)#-wolfgang#about franz#about our headmates

Hi. I know that you are the ASOIAF blog who likes history and fashion and aesthetics, and while I know that what I am sending in your askbox may not be your cup of tea, it is still related to that. What I think you should know is that the illuminations of the three conquerors, and Visenya, that Rhaenyra looked through in an episode that I don't know because I don't actually watch House of the Dragon myself and absorb it secondhand through other people's ASOIAF blogs instead, is based on the art style present in the Codex Manesse, a collection of Minnesang poetry that was created in the 1300s.
Here are some illuminations from the Codex Manesse to compare.
Anyway, I hope you can see where my claim is coming from. Thank you for receiving my ask. I just thought that it would have been nice if someone else knew about a very distinct medieval art style from one specific medieval manuscript may have inspired some of the props in House of the Dragon, even as a fun fact. That is because I know practically nothing about the area between the two circles of the Venn Diagram of ASOIAF fans and medieval music enjoyers.
I ADORE THIS STYLE I NEVER KNEW THE SPECIFIC NAME I always called it "medieval manuscript art" bc I found its really specific to manuscripts and books only. I noticed it in the show and was actually super excited that we got such clearly medieval inspired illustrations, because we didn't get much in the way of art in GOT. It looks just like a medieval history pulled from an old German castle I loved it. But yes thank you so much for the ask and the fun fact!!! I will be pouring over this codex now and assigning all the pieces ASOAIF characters in my brain
#asoiaf worldbuilding#I loved this little tidbit sooooo much I squealed when I noticed the manuscript art in the ep#soooo satisfying

Prince Vash X Knight Guard reader
I couldnt stop thinking about royal au where the blorbo is royalty, and the reader is a knight. Was written with thoughts of female reader, but written as g/n
inspired by this post
warnings: death of a relative (Rem), fluff, a bit of angst in the end if you squint Please, reblog if you like the work
Prince Vash, who grew up with constant scratches and bruises from playing with Crown prince Nai, but not once cried or snitched on him, always smiling when he got up from falling in a playfight.
Prince Vash, who spent most of his time with Queen Mother Rem, reading history books with her, learning botany and studying foreign languages.
Prince Vash, who couldn’t stop crying for months after the death of their mother and who supported his brother, Crown prince Nai wholeheartedly.
Prince Vash, who hasn’t supported and stopped any talks about rioting against king Nai among nobility, giving them chance to be exiled rather than executed.
Prince Vash who spent his time visiting the poorest in the kingdom, heeded to the needs of orphanages, churches and schools while king Nai was busy conquering and enslaving the neighboring kingdoms.
Prince Vash, who got a personal Knight Guard Captain, chosen among hundreds by king Nai after several assassination attempts on Vash.
Prince Vash, who made a rose crown himself and placed it on the head of his knight, after them winning the tournament, not paying attention to the mocking whispers of the court nobles.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who couldn’t believe in a gentle nature of their prince for the longest time, observing from the sidelines.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who immediately intimidated anyone among the royal guard who had said anything remotely disrespectful about the prince.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who started writing minnesangs (knight romantic poetry) and slipping it into the prince’s chambers among the dried flowers who conveyed their sincere love for the prince.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who after few years of guarding the prince and being on the receiving side of his gentle smiles and flustered rosy cheeks asked the prince to meet them in the back of the royal garden late at night.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who stood on their knee, professing their admiration and undying love to prince Vash, not expecting anything in return.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who received a gentle and shy kiss the same knight
Knight Guard Captain reader, who continued their duties diligently during the day and breaking the knight code every single night
Knight Guard Captain reader and prince Vash, who had to burry all their blooming feelings once Vash has been engaged to a princess of a neighboring kingdom in exchange of peace and mutual political benefits, since prince Vash was too pure and decent to disrespect his fiancée turned wife with doing anything improper.
Knight Guard Captain reader, who was devoted and guarded prince’s children with the same eagerness and devotion till the end of their servitude at the royal palace.

Also, another thing about women of the Volsung-Nibelung-Dietrich cycle, Oddrun is an incredibly awkward or incredibly hilarious character to imagine in a Nibelungenlied setting. Because then you get Gunther getting all sneaky-sneak with Etzel's sister either at Kriemhild's betrothal/wedding feast, or the later revenge feast. I'm sure Hagen and Volker would've had choice words if they found out about that (and for the record, so would Etzel, as he did have some choice words and more in the Scandinavian version).
... okay, that sure IS an interesting mental image. XDDDDD
Especially with how "Kriemhild is gonna use this marriage against us. She is SO gonna use this marriage against. It's OBVIOUS that she's gonna use this marriage against us" and "Kriemhild still wants revenge. She SO still wants revenge. It's OBVIOUS that she's inviting us over just to get revenge" Hagen is about the whole thing. Having to deal with Gunther hitting on Oddrun on top of that? I keep thinking of him fuming and trying to tell himself he shouldn't just grab his king by the shoulders and shake him and giggling. And also imagining poor Volker alternating between backing him up and trying to calm him down... and perhaps having to explain to Gunther that no, there's no way that being a singer and indulging in the occasional Minnesang will make him more understanding in this case. XDDDD
(As for Etzel... I suppose Gunther might be lucky that he's generally a more benign character than Atli? But I wouldn't discount the possibility of the sneaky affair bringing out of his worst side, either... XDD And... oh, my GOD, just imagine KRIEMHILD'S reaction! XDDDD)
