@vmprsm replied to your post “Raw MKV rip of Mission Impossible: Fallout:...”:
Theoretically, if one wanted their own copies of the MI movies safely on a hard drive....where would one go?
I mean, there is a site where you can acquire a lot of movies via torrent. I tend to use (rot13) 1337k.gb and I got a heavily discounted Windscribe VPN subscription that I use on almost all of my devices.
But my thing is that... I want commentary reels and special features, and sometimes you'll download a movie but the fucking subtitles are either bad or they become desynced over time and I haaaaate it.
So I've been gathering bits and pieces over the past year to get a Plex system going in my house and it works like a fucking DREAM. But it requires some investment. If you just want to have a few local copies of your favorite movies, this is way overkill. But me, I am canceling all of my family's streaming services and pivoting to our Plex.
So what I have for actually getting the files:
Tumblr media
I don't have this model but it's similar to this, a Pioneer External Blu-ray Reader. It sits on a little shelf and is connected to my PC by a USB cable. (I think I got mine for around 68 bucks so you can wait for a sale.)
I use MakeMKV which will rip the big honking raw files from a Blu-ray and leave them as matroshka (.mkv) files.
Because these raw files are ENORMOUS, I compress them in Handbrake. Handbrake is wildly powerful, can convert file formats and make them super small. I have my Handbrake set up special to dump all the non-English language subtitles and audio tracks to save space.
(SUPER BONUS TIP FOR HANDBRAKE: If you have a dedicated GPU, you can give Handbrake permission to use it, and it'll compress shit literally 10x faster, love it.)
At the moment, I am using a Western Digital portable 5TB external harddrive because it was one sale and I couldn't beat the price. Eventually, I want to upgrade to two 10TB HDDs so I can keep a full backup of everything I'm ripping. Because this is a bit of a time and energy commitment and I don't wanna lose all my progress here!
At first I was running Plex off my desktop PC and that worked totally fine, but my family hates having to touch my desktop to wake it up every time, so I very recently grabbed one of these guys:
Tumblr media
This is a Beelink Mini PC S12 Pro. It is small enough to fit in my hand but it is a speedy little demon that runs Windows 11. (And eventually I am gonna use it to firewall out ads from our entire home network, I'm pumped for that project but ANYWAY.)
The upside of these mini boys is that instead of being a hefty workhorse like my main computer, this is small and has a low-power draw.
So I moved my Plex Media Server to the mini PC, plugged in my 5TB drive of movies, and now everyone in the house can easily stream anything I have added to the library.
Tumblr media
This is what it looks like, if you're curious. Any device in the house that runs Plex and is signed in can select any movie or TV show I have and just watch it like it was Netflix or something.
A month ago, I has like.... 65 movies? Now I'm ripping a few and we're gonna break 100 soon.
"But Arc, where do you get so many blurays!"
My local library.
When I lived in Broward County, FL, I had an extravagantly wonderful library system. Tax dollars at fucking WORK, y'all. Now I live in Georgia and the library system is not nearly as good, but I have still gotten my hands on a frankly ridiculous amount of blurays. Every week I'm picking up 3 to 10 movies or shows, taking them home, making good copies, and returning them.
All of this is an investment and it is work. But as someone who built my computer, built my keyboard, cracked my 3DS and PS Vita-- this is fun to me! This is what I love to do. And through doing it, I've seen more movies in the past year than the last ten years put together.
So yeah, I can't recommend this to everyone, but if you wanna get out of your subscriptions and to just have high quality shit on demand, this is what I'm doing.
Cannot stress this enough tho, if this seems interesting to you: wait for sales. All the components here go on steep sale if you wait patiently. Take your time assembling the parts and keep in mind that shit is modular, you can upgrade parts later.

Mini React.js Tips #1 | Resources ✨
Tumblr media
I thought why not share my React.js (JavaScript library) notes I made when I was studying! I will start from the very beginning with the basics and random notes I made along the way~!
Up first is what you'll need to know to start any basic simple React (+ Vite) project~! 💻
What you'll need:
node.js installed >> click
coding editor - I love Visual Studio Code >> click
basic knowledge of how to use the Terminal
Tumblr media
What does the default React project look like?
Tumblr media
Step-by-Step Guide
[ 1 ] Create a New Folder: The new folder on your computer e.g. in Desktop, Documents, wherever that will serve as the home for your entire React project.
[ 2 ] Open in your coding editor (will be using VSCode here): Launch Visual Studio Code and navigate to the newly created folder. I normally 'right-click > show more options > Open with Code' on the folder in the File Explorer (Windows).
[ 3 ] Access the Terminal: Open the integrated terminal in your coding editor. On VSCode, it's at the very top, and click 'New Terminal' and it should pop up at the bottom of the editor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ 4 ] Create the actual React project: Type the following command to initialize a new React project using Vite, a powerful build tool:
npm create vite@latest
[ 5 ] Name Your Project: Provide a name for your project when prompted.
Tumblr media
[ 6 ] Select 'React' as the Framework: Navigate through the options using the arrow keys on your keyboard and choose 'React'.
Tumblr media
[ 7 ] Choose JavaScript Variant: Opt for the 'JavaScript' variant when prompted. This is the programming language you'll be using for your React application.
Tumblr media
[ 8 ] Navigate to Project Folder: Move into the newly created project folder using the following command:
cd [your project name]
[ 9 ] Install Dependencies: Execute the command below to install the necessary dependencies for your React project (it might take a while):
npm install
Tumblr media
[ 10 ] Run the Development Server: Start your development server with the command (the 'Local' link):
npm run dev
Tumblr media
[ 11 ] Preview Your Project: Open the link provided in your terminal in your web browser. You're now ready to witness your React project in action!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Congratulations! You've successfully created your first React default project! You can look around the project structure like the folders and files already created for you!
BroCode's 'React Full Course for Free' 2024 >> click
React Official Website >> click
Stay tuned for the other posts I will make on this series #mini react tips~!

Y'ever just think... wow... that's too many computers?
I have seven, not including my tablets.
Five of them are laptops.
Two of those laptops are Macs -- my current Mac laptop (an M2 Macbook Air) which I use every day, and my old laptop (a late-2011 13" MacBook Pro) which after some upgrades (and the removal of its spicy pillow battery years ago) currently runs as a backup server, print server, and network drive.
Then there are the three HP laptops.
One of them I technically don't own, as it's my work machine. It's just running Windows 10 -- nothing special -- and it works. Then I have my two fuckaround machines -- a 15 year old 17" 'desktop replacement' that originally ran Vista but currently runs Linux Mint (and we used for years as the registration computer at No Brand Con). Then I have a 14" laptop that's "current" (in the sense that you can buy it right now for less than $200 at Walmart) that I got for free -- which dual boots into Linux Mint and Windows 11.
And then there are the non-laptops -- my M1 Mac Mini (my primary production workstation for art and podcasts) and my non-laptop fuckaround machine -- a Raspberry Pi 400 running Raspberry Pi OS.
And I was realizing today... is that too many? That might be too many.

on another unrelated note (ALSO HI!), I had to let go of my trusty old computer unfortunately. the newly obtained one comes with windows 11 and of course there's a funky bug where suddenly the keyboard shortkeys won't work with my drawing tablet any longer. the joys of troubleshooting are upon me, I might just get used to a different workflow. no big deal luckily, alas, annoying as heck. don't mind this mini ramble though! I WISH YOU ALL WELL, whoever reads this, please take good care of yourself, treat yourself to something nice today! I'll be heading back to working on commissions (THANK YOU) and hopefully some bits of other art, too, heeheehe hohoohoho! (I've been drawing a lot in my sketchbooks these past weeks, but.......more private things, unsuitable for eyes that aren't my own) EDIT 2 days later: computer device problemo: FIXED!!! ✌️ heck yeah!

My region sort tuning + mini-tutorial to do your own!

Tutorial part:
You can also make your own region sort tuning. You will need sims4studio and a text editor i. e. notepad or (better) notepad++ but simple windows notepad will do too
So, step by step...
0. First download sims4studio at sims4studio.com and file XML_FILES_RegionSortTuning.zip form here. Unzip XML_FILES_RegionSortTuning.zip and then open sims4studio
Tumblr media
1. click on "tools" then "extract tuning" and wait a little bit. 2. then search for Client_RegionSortTuning
Tumblr media
3. choose RegionSort/Client_RegionSortTuning 4. and click "add to current package. Program will show you the window to choose a directory and name for yours new file

Would you mind teaching me how to create gifs? ♥️ Like what program do you use, how to adjust their sharpness or things like that because your gifts are both beautiful and high-quality! I am still an amateur when it comes to editing. 😭
Hellloooo, sweet anon! Of course I can give a mini tutorial on that for you! :3 PHEW, honestly I haven't made GIFs in a fucking hot minute (since early May!). I put that on the back burner to focus on crunching away that writer's block. 🥲🙄 BUT... Making GIFs is like second nature to me because I've been at it for 2 years now, so allow me to tell you all I know! ❤️
I use Adobe Photoshop 2023! My GIFs are started, edited, cooked and finished all up in there. I know there's plenty of cheaper/free alternatives, but I've literally only ever used Photoshop so I have zero experience with those alternatives. 🥲
Remember, a huge part of how smooth and high quality your GIFs are gonna be is 95% where your GIF source is coming from. Stay away from 720p quality files! You want your GIF screencaps to be pulled from the most HD, crisp source material. At least 1080p unless you absolutely can't get your hands on anything else.
Once you pop open Photoshop, you want to follow...
Click "File"
Click "Scripts"
Click "Load files into stack..."
Now select all of your GIF screencaps. I would recommend a maximum of 85 screencaps otherwise your GIF will be longer/beefier and Tumblr for some reason hates GIFs over 10mb.
Wait for it to load! If your computer is older/slower, this might be a pain in the ass and will be 2x a pain in the ass if you have a high screencap amount.
CROPPING YOUR GIF: Select W x H x Resolution on the top bar.
Tumblr media
It's honestly best to crop out as close to the edges as possible for the sharpest gifs. A general rule of thumb I like to follow for cropping/GIF sizing is:
One gif: 540 px x 400 px.
2 gifs side by side: 268 px each.
3 gifs side by side: 177 px, 178 px, 177 px.
Hit enter twice to crop!
Once your GIF screencaps are loaded in, click on "Create Video Timeline" on the "Timeline" option. If you can’t see the Timeline > Window > Timeline.
Click on the stack of 3 small lines on the far right of your Timeline and click "Convert to Video Timeline".
Tumblr media
8. Click on those 3 lines again and click on "Make Frames From Layers".
9. Click on those 3 lines again and click "Select All Frames".
10. Click on the 3 lines again and click "Reverse Frames" otherwise your GIF will play backwards!!
11. Then you'll notice all your frames like this showing 0 seconds.
Tumblr media
Now you get to decide how fast or slow you want your GIF to play, but we're not using whole numbers like 1 2 3 4. Those will make your GIFS incredibly choppy and slow. Instead, we use numbers like 0.01. I would recommend sticking to 0.05 or 0.06. The higher the number, the slower it is. 0.06 feels just right to me, but 0.05 is more like watching the clip live from the movie. I also use 0.07 and 0.08 when I try to GIF a screencap that's very short so unfortunately you have to slow it down otherwise your GIF zoom replays and if you're making a GIF set it'll look horrible next to the other ones going at normal speed LMAO. 0.08 is a good, sensual slow motion type of GIF. Definitely play around with the speeds until you feel comfortable with how your GIF plays out. Not all GIFs are made with equal speed!
For my example, I'm choosing 0.06.
12. Next, go to the far right where your screencaps are all layered and select every single one of them from top to bottom. Then, right click on any random layer until this menu pops up. Click "Convert to Smart Object".
Tumblr media
13. On your Timeline, you'll get your smushed chunky little GIF looking like this.
Tumblr media
Now with my extensive experience in navigating Tumblr's hellish rules for GIF size and keeping my GIFS clean, smooth and not too long or not too short, I can easily eyeball this every time but I can see why a beginner with Photoshop GIFs might struggle. You see how big that purple block, AKA your GIF, is? It basically needs to be half of that. The bigger that block, the longer/beefier the GIF.
Slowly drag your mouse over that purple block from start to finish to watch your GIF essentially manually play out in front of you. Then you can decide what parts to trim out using the scissors option.
Tumblr media
You can then click anywhere on the Timeline to unselect those now 2 chunks of purple. Then you can select just the one piece you want to delete and either hit the backspace key on your keyboard (Like I do) or right click it and click delete.
14. Next, make sure you drag that little blue arrow thing that lets you comb through the GIF all the way back to the beginning. We're going to edit the actual GIF now and we want to edit the whole thing from start to finish, not have effects randomly playing right before the GIF ends or in the middle of it.
Tumblr media
15. Time to sharpen up that GIF as the first part of our editing and make it pretty!!
Tumblr media
Click on lower left convert button to Convert from Frame Animation to Video Timeline.
Select > All Layers.
CTRL + click on any Layer > Select Convert to Smart Object.
16. Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen.
A little menu will pop up and you can select/input these defaults I use for my crispy GIFs:
Preset: CUSTOM.
Amount: 500%.
Radius: 0.4 PX.
Remove: GAUSSIAN BLUR.
Once more...
Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen again only this time for the second Smart Sharpening, make the attributes:
Amount: 10%.
Radius: 10 PX.
17. Colouring the GIFs!
If you don’t have Adjustments tab > Window > Adjustments.
Adjustments > Exposure.
Another little menu will pop up, and you can use my defaults:
Preset: CUSTOM.
Exposure: 0.99
Offset: 0.0000
Gamma Correction: 1.00
Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.
Brightness: *anything you want* Drag your mouse around to play with how you want this to look, there are no set numbers however you might want to note down the amount of brightness you put or took away if you want all of your GIFs to match this one!
Contrast: *anything you want*
18. Colouring GIFs when skintones or scenes are too orange/red:
Adjustments > Selective Color.
Colors: REDS.
Cyan: +6.
Magenta, Yellow, Black: 0.
The reds result in the orange color to begin with, but remember each color has its own counterpart. To decrease red tones, increase the cyans!
Example: Making a blue dress more vibrantly blue à Adjustments > Selective Color.
19. Adding text.
Tumblr media
Remember, text layers should be on top of the rest of your layers, even if you have several pieces of text on the GIF. It doesn't matter in which order you stack text layers on top, they just have to be up there.
Tumblr media
Click Text Tool on the lefthand bar and then click wherever you want to add the text.
To change text settings on a panel > Window > Character.
18-20 pt font is suitable for 540 px gifs! It's to use Calibri font in italics for text talking or Myriad Pro. Those are GIF text classics.
Right click on Text Layer > Blending Options > Stroke > + Stroke.
Size: 1 px.
Position: OUTSIDE.
Blend Mode: NORMAL.
Then hit OK.
Right click on Text Layer > Blending Options > Drop Shadow > Drop Shadow +.
Once again, right click on Text Layer > Blending Options > Stroke > + Stroke.
Blend Mode: NORMAL.
Angle: 30 > Use Global Light.
Distance: 1 px.
Spread: 17%.
Size: 3 px.
Noise: 0.
Layer Knocks Out Drop Shadow > OK.
To center and move the text, just press Y on your keyboard to use the move tool.
20. Finishing up the GIF!
File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy). Check bottom left corner of save screen for GIF size.
Do not go over 10MB EXACTLY! Otherwise Tumblr won't let you post it. You'll have to go back and shorten your GIF as a result, even if that means just splitting the clip off at the very end or very beginning.
Happy GIF making!! :3 ❤️❤️❤️

Woody!!!!
I finally get to meet Woody! I didn't know he only appeared in s4!!! I love this guy so much, he is the OG psych-ologically deranged (I mean, not really, look at the characters we have)
So here is my psychfacts masterpost on Woody because I'm insane
He has been playing with dead things since he was a toddler
The second ever episode I see with Woody in it has Shawn bribe Woody with slippers. They were so close & chill & calling each other nicely gelled & stuff, so I thought the first time that I'd seen it that they had been close & had conversations for years. I love them.
I'd be honoured to saw through your chest & remove your good natured heart from its cavity.
Third! "Hello Friend!" he says to Shawn <3
"is that third dead person you?" 'Yeah my daughter took a picture of me playing dead for her photography class"
Up to the elbows in blood "you need to try these french fries"
No fingerprints as there are no fingers. Also calls lassiter lassie.
MY MAN JUST DRAWS A KNIFE ON THIS MAN... & then... licks his finger to rub it off...
He's nice, telling gus to breathe properly. ..& then he unveils the severed leg
Woody may not have his face & voice in the philippines. Protection. He also might be a necrophiliac & mixed up formaldehyde & baking soda to get high. He was also part of a barbershop uartet. & their baritone was not alive. & his passion is skydiving, 42 jumps & 3 chute failure deaths.
Woody has the urge to comb their hair & try on their jewelry. I love this man.
He sent a 911 text trying to be a 7/11 text asking shawn gus & lassie to bring him a quesadilla in the shape of a tube. He also plays shuffleboard on the morgue table. Man I miss Rocketball. We had this weird shuffleboard table that was not like any shuffleboard table I've ever seen (shuffleboard is like mini curling), we had billiard/pool balls, & we would set them up on the opposite end like bowling & try to hit them off. I was a champion. It was shuffleboard/curling crossing with billiards/pool crossed with bowling. Great game.
& he found a jackrabbit in his dishwasher.
Ha. Does the perfectly coiled human intestine fit in a 10 gallon hat? Of course I can. *opens his computer to pleasureguide dot net with the word furries on it*
Wowza. Swan dive out of his bedroom window. I've always wanted to try that.
Woody with ipad shawn XD "Can you see this?" 'just like I'm with you there.' "How about this?" *ipad under the blanket... from the wrong end* *Shawn screams*
WS, holding up a 30yo photo of the vic: She was quite a looker. *looks at the mummified skeleton* Still is.
& proceeds to criticize her fashion. & my man didn't know that smallpox was eradicated.
Calls himself the woodmaster
omg he showed up with a six foot body bag when henry got shot. My dude. & later on my man shows up with a pair of bodybags when shawn & gus sit on a landmine. Dang. JoH: Then why are there two body bags under your arm? WS: No reason, dear *drops them*
WS: Whoever covered this up must have kept the body on ice.
WS: Now, come over here.
WS (when they hesitate): Come on! I want to show you something. It's not like you're gonna catch necrophylopigmentosis.
*Shawn laughs*
WS: Probably not. *He reveals the foot with a flourish*
WS: As anyone good at foreplay can tell you, electricity always leaves a mark. I know, I know. T.M.I. Tell more information. You see, a flashlight battery and a paper clip--
BG: Uh, no need to explain, Woody.
WS: I gotta tell you, I sometimes have trouble reading social cues, especially cross-culturally.
BG: What?
WS: Yeah, it's really starting to hurt me in the dating department. I can't--I can't read alive women anymore. *To Juliet* It's like, you're strobing right now.
Juliet set Woody up with Marlowe's parole officer
Woody tried to slip an illegal substance to Lassiter during his bachelor party. (Later, he bakes a cake with a gun in it to give to the guy who held him hostage. "only insane people do that" *throws it away*)
This man, who used to be married & had a 15yo daughter, is living in some mobile home. & Shawn is now his roommate. (& in the remake of the law episode, he slept with the suspect in his mobile home while he was down from LA)
He does a fair amount of nude sunbathing & goes into the water to rinse off, meaning he has almost been taken out by The Vortex.
He is not bulimic: he ate a donut out of the trash the other day
WS: What we have here is a… Woman. I am guessing by this wound, that she died of blunt force trauma to the back of the head. I would place her at about 27 years of age. SS, looking at her hands: I'm gonna say more like 47, Woody. WS: Trust me, Shawn, I know what a 69 (nice) year-old woman looks like in her birthday suit and this ain't it. SS: I said 47. JoH: She's actually 48 years old. WS: Oh, see? So, we were both wrong.
WS: Yeah, you are right. There are tiny surgical scars on her scalp. Yeah. This is well done. Clean lines. Nice smooth finish. This is Dr. Joan Diamond's work. I'd know it anywhere. I saw her speak at a symposium of forensic artists. She also appeared on The Love Boat back when she was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
(Good old botulism. I could hyperfixate on that if I wanted to.)
CL: Did you sleep here last night? WS: No. Actually, I… Crash here all the time. Something about the smell of formaldehyde just lulls me to sleep. I think it's the scent.
Woody has an anxiety disorder. I'm just glad he didn't swallow the camera. I should liveblog that episode.
Woody Strode: Wife cheated on him 12 times, with 10 men. (He approved the one with the personal trainer)
Woody has a spell cast on him by his mommy that he's getting broken by a wiccan consultant.
My man goes to putin on the ritz a shady russian club for the buffet.
*giving a report to the detectives while there is no body* Here we have a man, looks to be about six foot two. JoH: Woody, there's no body. WS: Oh what a relief! I thought I was the only one not seeing it!
He... ate applya mushrooms (possibly from under the fingernails of the vic) & says they taste like ass...

🌼September TC Challenge (Day 1-30)🌼
1 - Are you generally nervous around your tc, or are you more relaxed and comfortable around them? I find I’m more relaxed around them. I am a nervous wreck sometimes but those moments are rare!
2 - Is your tc an introvert or an extrovert? How about you? They are both extroverts while I’m an introvert
3 - Does your tc use emojis or emoticons when communicating with you? If so, what have they used? if not, what do you think they’d use? S used emojis when he sent personal emails to me! Especially the “😊” emoji. B doesn’t really send emojis. If he did, it would most likely be the thumbs up one or the “😀” emoji
4 - What’s the biggest or most important thing your tc has taught you, ether in terms of life lessons or the subject matter of their class? B: Build my way up so I can do public speaking S: Don’t let shit get to my head!!
5 - Does your tc have a classroom / office, or are they “floating” (using a cart or something and moving from place to place)? What does their teaching space look like? B has an office and it's quite neat, with a couple books here and there. S has 2 offices since he teaches 2 subjects. I have seen one but I’m guessing the other one is neat since he is a neat person in general!
6 - What was your favourite assignment in your tc’s class and why? Are they a harsh grader? For B, I have 2 favourite projects! For one, we got make a homemade magazine about a topic. I got 80% on it! And for the 2nd one, we got to make a creative story which had to follow a simulator timeline of a movie we had watched as a class. I got a 70% on it! With S, we got to do a role play type thing! I got a 73% on it which was good
7 - Do you and your tc have any inside jokes? are they shared by other people (classmates, other teachers, etc) or is it just between you two? Not really
8 - If your tc was an animal, what animal would they be? I feel like S would be a deer and B would be a friendly bear
9 - How do you feel about being in the tcc? Are you afraid of getting caught, etc? Sometimes I am afraid of getting caught since a couple of friends uses Tumblr, so I try and be careful about what I post. But I like being in the tcc.
10 - How long have you been having teacher crushes? How many tc’s have you had in total, and how long have you been in the tcc? I've been liking teachers for 1 and a half years now. I’ve had 4 tc’s in total which is something. I’ve been in the tcc for nearly 2 years now
11 - Is your tc’s room close to the front of your school / campus, or is it more towards the back? Their offices are both at the front of the school which is convenient!
12- Are you shorter or taller than your tc? Both taller than me! S completely towers over me
13 -  does your tc have any pets at home? how many and what animals? B used to have a ginger cat
14 - Does your tc have a blackboard or a whiteboard in their room? What color chalk/marker do they use the most? They both use whiteboards and they mainly used black and red markers
15 - Besides your blog, do you vent about your feelings towards your tc in any other way? I have a mini diary that I use on my computer for things that I don’t put on here. I go more into depth about things there and read back on them every once in a while
16 - Are there any students you’re jealous of in terms of their relationship to your tc? Not really
17 - Imagine that you and your tc were born in the same year. How many days apart would your birthdays be? I would have no clue. Maybe a couple months apart
18 - Have you ever gotten in trouble with your tc? If so, what happened? Never have! Hopefully never will!
19 - Is your tc’s hair curly or straight, and is it short, medium, or long? Both of their hair is straight and short. B’s hair is slightly longer and a tiny bit wavier than S’ hair.
20- what web browser does your tc use? what kind of phone/computer do they have? I think they both use a HP laptop, so the Microsoft windows web browser. As for phones, they both have apple phones, so safari or google
21- Are there any calendar dates that are special to you because of your tc? Not yet!
22 - Do any celebrities or fictional characters look like or remind you of your tc? Kind of. There was this one guy on instagram who reminded me of S a tiny bit. There is someone that looks like B as well, but I don’t know who it was. Hopefully I remember soon!
23 - Is your tc’s room/office number even or odd? I have no idea
24 - What do you think sets your tc apart from other teachers at your school? Their personality and looks
25 - Do you like the teachers who are “neighbors” with your tc (that is teachers who have rooms next to your tc)? Yes but no. There are teachers in the same room as each other.
26 - Have you ever suspected someone you know irl of having a teacher crush (either on your tc or on a different teacher)? If so, have you ever confronted them about it? Not really
27 - Do you pass by your tc’s room or office on your way to class frequently? Do you see them around campus a lot? I see them around a lot, but I don’t pass their office tons. I pass B's office sometimes when i have classes in the same building as his office.
28 - Is teaching your tc’s first job, or did they have another job before being a teacher? Have they ever taught at another school before? I know that S has had other jobs before teaching at my school. I think it’s the same for B, but i'm not sure
29 - What things keep you happy and occupied over break when you miss your tc? If you’ve graduated or will no longer be seeing your tc in school, how are you handling the situation? I keep myself busy over the breaks by drawing or doing things on my laptop
30 - What is the sweetest thing they told you or did for you? B liking my drawings and S giving me life advise

Boring Blog Episode 2
Tumblr media
Hello ladies and gentlemen. So this unexciting blog continues my never ending waffling about computers that no-one really gives a flying fuck about.
So as I mentioned last issue. I bought a new Dell Inspiron 3525 laptop before Christmas. I ran Linux on it for two weeks and then I returned it to windows 11 which its where it is currently.
A friend asked me was I annoyed at Windows yet and to be honest I really don’t have any major issues. Do I miss Linux well lets just admit I can’t say I miss at all.
So what nonsense have I been messing with. Well as the Macintosh 128k was 40 I was going to do something Mac based. So I could have downloaded Basilisk II/Sheepshaver but nope. Mini Vmac would be appropriate given the Mac in question, once again no.
I was playing with VirtualBox trying to get it to run Mac OS 12.0 (Monterey) I was following various guides and after 5 hours of playing about I still couldn’t get it beyond the EFI boot kept failing.
I had tried many different fixes and it really wasn’t working. I then moved to VMWare Player. Originally I went to version 15 but upon changing the vmx file to apply the fix it crashed the player and refused to let it go on.
I found WMware Player could be updated to version 17 which I did and the fix allowed the installer to work. It then took forever to install. Then I let it upgrade to 12.7.3 which took another 2 hours.
This was a project I intended to be an hour ended up being over 9 hours playing with various virtual machines.
Now I have managed to install WriteRoom 3.21 on it also now considering this is a Ryzen 7 5700U system. It runs Monterey about the speed of a Pentium. You can literally type and watch the delay as the buffer updates.
So 9 hours for the slowest VM in history. That’s with it set at 8GB Ram and using 4 processor cores. Ridiculous.
Also while I was playing with emulators. I have been playing with PCSX2 (Playstation 2) emulator and have been playing most of the Burnout franchise.
It works fine but when I tried using EPSXE (PlayStation 1) what a nightmare as half of the plug-ins just refused to work.
I did try Xemu(Xbox emulator) I did try running Project Gotham 3 Racing but it wouldn’t even get above 15 frames per second making the game unplayable.
Given this is a Ryzen 7 I was thinking what the hell does it need to get it working better. My suspicion is the Vega 8 graphics card is just not up to snuff. Once again potato graphics cards used in laptops.
I was going to try Xenia (XBOX 360 emu) but given how bad the Xbox emu was I thought against it.
So one day I will get a decent desktop and run a decent video card but I am sure that’s going to be a cold day in hell before that.
Any way that’s enough waffle for now until next time … Take care

New Job
Do not repost this post. This is my original work.
November 3rd, 2022
It was a cold and windy morning in Brookline, Massachusetts. You were awakened by the branches rubbing against the glass windows. You rub your eyes while you get up from bed to open the curtains to let natural light into the room. Before leaving the bedroom, you put on a green oversized zip-up sweatshirt, green shorts, and a white tank and continue to walk downstairs to start making breakfast. Your usual is a 12oz decaf coffee with cream and sugar, scrambled eggs, and two slices of sourdough toast with avocado.
You applied and interviewed for a job in your industry two weeks ago. You were still waiting for a call from the business, but you tried not to worry about it. You finished your breakfast and relaxed for a few hours before working in your office.
After an hour of work and staring at the computer, you look over and see that your phone is ringing. You answered, and it was the company you applied to, and they offered the position. You were very excited but still tried to appear professional over the phone. You accepted the job offer and now need to find a new place to live in Seattle, Washington, where your new job is located. You called your best friend, Alyssa, who lives in Seattle, to tell her the news. Alyssa was very excited because then you two could hang out, and she could show you all the incredible places in the area. After getting off the phone, the realization is that it's time to start looking.
Y/N: "It's time to start looking for a new home. Where do I even start?"
December 9th, 2022
A month has passed, and you found a new place near Alyssa's apartment. You were still getting used to the city, but you took it day by day. You were making yourself lunch when Alyssa called to see if you wanted to go to a concert in Seattle, where you recently moved to due to a job position.
Y/N: "Sure! What day and time does the concert start?"
Alyssa: "It's on December 14th at 8:00 PM. But we need to be at the door by 7:00 PM. It's a Yung Gravy concert, and I'm so excited to go with you. You have been so busy unpacking and working that I thought this is a great way to get you out of the house."
Y/N: "Yung Gravy... why does the name sound familiar."
Alyssa: "Yung Gravy was the guy who sang Betty which has been popular on social media lately."
You tend to be a workaholic and must leave the house more often and experience life in a new city. Even though the concert was five days away, you wanted to listen to his music to get a better idea of what his music was like. You listened to Betty, Mrs. Worldwide, and some of his other songs on Spotify. You loved his music and started to get excited about seeing him in person.
December 14th 2022
Tonight is the night! You were getting ready to meet up with Alyssa to get something quick to eat before the concert. You're wearing a black romantic style mini-length dress with puff sleeves and black knee-height heeled boots. You grab your purse and get up with Alyssa has been waiting at your apartment. You two go out to eat and are on your way to the concert.
You and Alyssa made it to the door a little before 7 PM. You guys went inside, stood in the front row, and waited until Yung Gravy came out. While listening to music and dancing with Alyssa, Yung Gravy came out and started singing songs from his album Marvelous. Everyone cheered, and he came down to the front row, passing out roses and strawberries. He walked and gave out roses and strawberries until he came to you. You two lock eyes, and it was an instant spark. He swept you off your feet without saying a word. He gives you a rose, followed by a wink.
After the concert, it was around 11:30 PM, and Alyssa dropped you off at your place. Once inside your apartment, you start to get ready for bed.

FlatOut is a 2004 racing video game developed by Finnish developer Bugbear Entertainment and published by then British game publisher Empire Interactive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FlatOut_(video_game) FlatOut is known for its demolition derby style races, specular vehicle damage physics modeling and dynamic tracks which still look great today!
Here is the trailer for the game, featuring ‘Beat the Boys’ by LAB:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBKSGSCSUTs The player can choose between 16 different cars to race in. Each car has 5 colour choices and are rated as Bronze class, Sliver class and Gold class. I made a collage that shows my favourite cars from each class.
All the car models are Bugbears own as this avoids any licensing permissions on real car models.
To see all the cars available in the game, see video below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4lMCUVCMaA The stages consist of forests, sand pits, race tracks, snowy tracks, small towns and rural stages, each with their own obstacle hazards and shortcuts. Each stage has three different track layouts for each race. This helps make the stages more challenging and interesting, some are in reverse as well. As you race through to the Gold stages, the opponents become much more aggressive and faster.
The HUD displays lap count, speed (MPH) gauge and nitro, damage level (Derby), stage map, lap time and race position.
These can be configured in the game options.
The number of players on each track is 8. This includes the player and 7 opponents. The number of cars stays the same in FlatOut 2, however in FlatOut Ultimate Carnage, this has increased to 11, including the player, making it 12 cars.
The damage simulator in FlatOut is very well though out, as you can see in the screenshots which shows lots of damage to one of the cars I was driving, the damage is inflicted on wherever the car is hit and at what force. Each car model is made up of many polygons (damage points) which interact differently to different collisions, making the damage look and feel real.
Each stage has a large number of obstacles to crash into, knock over and some can be moved around. Hitting these and other cars will increase your nitro level.
These objects remain scattered on the track throughout the race.
FlatOut also uses ragdoll physics which features drivers capable of being launched out of the windscreen after high impact crashes.
The player can choose between a male or female driver when they first set up the game.
These ragdoll physics are used in various stunt mini-games that include:
High jump, long jump, bowling, darts, curling and a netball style game in the form of a clown sculpture.
FlatOut was released on November 5, 2004 in the UK and Europe by Empire Interactive UK.
It was released on July 12, 2005 in the US by Vivendi Universal Games. It is available for Windows, Xbox and PlayStation 2. A Linux version was released on GOG.com in 2014.
in the UK, FlatOut is rated PEGI 12 for violence and mild lyrics.
In the US it has been given a ESRB Teen rating.
Here is a link to the Steam FlatOut guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1729793515 As the games system specifications are basic by todays technology standards, it performed very well on the built in Intel Iris Xe graphics card.
Here are the minimum system requirements for FlatOut:
Windows 98, 2000, ME and XP
(Steam version plays fine in Windows 7 and later)
1.5 GHz Pentium 4 or AMD Equivalent CPU
256 MB RAM
DirectX9.0c
64 MB Graphics Card
1.1 GB of free storage space
Internet connection for LAN muti-player games.
On PC, FlatOut utilises 4 cores of the CPU for game play.
This is unusual for many PC games, where complex tasks mean the developer tends to only utilise one or two cores in their games.
This is because the developer understands how computer processors handle tasks, whilst many developers are used to games console processors.
All FlatOut games in the Bugbear franchise deal with utilisation well.
As of 2014, Gamespy shut down its LAN servers for muti-player in all supported games.
This affects online muti-player functionality in both FlatOut and FlatOut 2.
I am using the arrow keys on the keyboard to drive and steer the car. The game fully supports steering wheel and pedal peripherals as well as a Xbox game controller.
Bugbear started developing FlatOut in 2002.
One of the tasks included supporting different networking systems for LAN, Xbox Live and Playstation Network.
FlatOut uses both ‘Diesel’ game engine by Grin and Bugbears own ‘ROMU’ game engine. It uses the Lua programming language.
To develop FlatOut, Bugbear used software such as:
Photoshop (2D graphics)
3ds Max (environment and asset modeling)
Lightwave (vehicle modeling)
Notepad and their own in-house software.

http://community.bugbeargames.com/threads/making-of-flatout-1.25/ Below is a video of FlatOut in action!
FlatOut in 4K: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-RqkqShWB4 The game contains music from bands such as No Connection, LAB, Agent Blue, Tokyo Dragons, Central Supply Chain and many more.
FlatOut was followed by two very successful sequels including FlatOut 2 (2006) (PC, Xbox, PS2) and FlatOut Ultimate Carnage (2008) (Xbox 360, PC). Following Empire Interactive going into Administration in 2009, the ‘FlatOut’ brand name went to two other games (neither developed by Bugbear).
FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction (2011) by Team6 Game Studios, which opened to extremely negative reviews.
FlatOut 4: Total Insanity (2017) by Kylotonn which had mixed reviews.
Most recently the developer of FlatOut, Bugbear Entertainment released the FlatOut series spiritual successor, Wreckfest (2021) (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch).
The rival videogame series to FlatOut are BurnOut by Criterion Games/EA Games and Crashday by Atari.
My verdict on FlatOut (2004):
I completed the game on the 22nd of January 2023, and unlocked all the stages and mini games and I also unlocked all the car classes after a day playing FlatOut!
I think that FlatOut is a brilliant racing game.
FlatOut really stands out nearly 20 years after it was released.
The game looks and feels fun to play and allows you to upgrade your cars in the career mode.
Each race is unique, unpredictable and exciting as even when the same two races when played again the outcome of each race is different due to the players and the computer controlled opponents competing.
Also, this version of FlatOut is only version that allows you to fully explore maps without being automatically reset back on the track.
All versions of FlatOut can be modified by the user with game modifications and there is a large mod community for it.

https://flatout.fandom.com/wiki/FlatOut
I bought the original FlatOut PC-CD game from PC World back in 2006.
The version I have came with two compact discs and Empire Interactives Xplosive launcher which provided web support and a PDF manual for the game.
I also had FlatOut 2 and its re-make, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on PC-DVD.
See a short video below of FlatOut playing on my system.

My desktop still has at least 2 more years worth of stable use I think. Maybe 3. But it's good to start looking into options for customized PCs, epsecially if I can avoid bloatware from the beginning instead of having to rely on things like O&O's ShutUp10++ and App Buster, or ThisIsWin11.
I'm thinking of either getting an all-in-one PC or otherwise one of those mini PCs with a nice monitor. I am not really much for messing with the actual internals of a computer to be honest, so I don't think I particularly mind getting a computer that I can't mess with as easily as a tower. I'll take the risk and just hope it works lol. ^^;
Anyways, I think it would also be nice to have a touchscreen monitor? But that's not a hard requirement for me. Not to mention, I'm also waffling on whether or not to give Windows 11 a try or maybe switch over to Ubuntu. And if I try the latter, I think the touchscreen will become not-an-option, since apparently a lot of Linux distros have problems with handling touchscreen input. At least from what I've read.
The one custom PC builder I've been able to find so far that has decent options for both (all-in-one and mini PCs), is AVADirect. And they definitely have some nice options at reasonable prices. But then by the time I actually need to buy a new computer, that might change. :u
