making a Minecraft mod pack that fixes the issues I think the game has here we go
- (nearly) all structures are spread further apart, but there are hundreds more added, ensuring you find new structures every time you play.
- 80% of villages are abandoned
- maps can be added into an atlas and provides a mini map while its is in your inventory
- coordinates can't be viewed in the f3 debug screen, there is a HUD overlay that displays coordinates when a compass is in your inventory
- sleeping with no shelter will guarantee being woken up by a mob attacking you
- name tags can be crafted and don't require an anvil to name
- anvils "Too Expensive!" message removed
- enchanting table requires you to find an enchanted book to learn the enchantment. with structures being quite rare having anything fully enchanted is a real accomplishment
- enchantments decay as you use them. enough decay without repairing the item drops the enchantment by a level.
- potions can be combined in a cauldron
- villager trades are locked, you can't spam a lectern until you get the enchantment trade you want.
- villagers will improve their villages, repairing paths and removing grass
- wandering traders are more useful. they sell better stuff that illustrates their seasoned travels
- combat is overhauled as per jeb's unrealized combat snapshot
- tridents are only obtainable through defeating elder guardians
- shulker box inventory can be managed from within the inventory menu without having to set the box down
- vertical slabs
- stair and trap door crafting recipes make 6 instead of 4
- blocks will weather over time according to their material and environment. iron bars rust, cobblestone near water becomes mossy, blocks adjacent to smoke will gather soot, etc.
- inventory sorting
- localized fishing tables. fishing treasures change according to biome
- cod and salmon mobs removed, you gotta fish for those again
- zombies can trip over torches, breaking them. creepers will intentionally hide in tall grass.
- tools and armors are crafted with a Quality (common, uncommon, epic, etc) with greater or fewer modifiers to durability, mining speed, reach, etc. not all tools are the same.
- ender dragon fight overhaul, feels more climactic
- warden drops a variety of great loot
- horses can be ridden bareback with a speed penalty. leather leggings remove the penalty but damage the leggings as you ride
- can make horse shoes to improve speed, and horse shoes are enchantable with boot enchants
- minecarts are twice as fast and load chunks
- elytra rocket boost is removed, campfires provide an updraft
- lots of optimization and visual improvements
- variety of other small changes
- changes to the hunger system in the works
- sprinting is removed from the game

Here’s a quick look at what got done this year!
New game features:
Controller Support Every single input handler in the game supports keyboard/mouse and controllers now!
Custom gravity in maps Low gravity? No gravity? Stuck to the ceiling? BELIEVE IT.
Weapons / Abilities Framework Fully implemented a system for adding weapons and abilities to Cat Story using easily-organized and easily-modified assets files. Weapon upgrades!

Destructible terrain Those blocks had it coming.

Enemies Enemies deal damage to the player, and take damage from weapons. Enemies can knock the player back when dealing damage. Enemies can pathfind to chase the player and return to their home locations. Enemies have programmable drop tables. Enemies have programmable patrol paths. Enemies are able to raycast-line-of-sight to detect and interact with the player! We have bats now! They’re flappy. I like to imagine they have little spade tails.

Cat Story’s darkest caverns are home to RamSpiders now!  Do they goat noises? Do they spider noises? YOU DECIDE.

Critters We’ve got wandering harmless critters now! Terrestrial critters include crabs and snails! Aquatic critters include cute rays!

Directional shooting Left-, down-, up-, and right-ways projectiles! Open fire!

Two playable characters Play as Tilde or Ceil. One shoots, one goes fast. 
Better ramps and slopes Physical objects slide down steep ramps now. Sloped floors, walls, and ceilings supported at all angles. Raycasting handles sloped surfaces as intended!

Climbing Climbable ropes are working properly now. Climbable sections of wall are working properly now.

Better collisions Completely overhauled the way the physics system handles collisions to make scripting more useful for weapons, enemies, and pickups.
Dynamic Minimap Get a rad preview of the map you’re in by pressing TAB. Updates automagically based on the physical objects present in the map!

The story is being finalized After 962 days of drafting, coding, testing, debugging, and playing Cat Story, I finally nailed down the story I want to tell. This includes some new characters! We like characters, right?

Jumping / falling animations Bounce in style with fancy jumping-up and falling-down framesets!
Loot Chests can be opened that contain weapons and collectibles! Health, ammunition, and gems can be collected now!

Alpix Terminals Cat Story contains miniature mock-linux terminal systems that you can access and tinker around with! Virtual filesystems! Installed minigames! Lore snippets! Activate machines, open doors, and interact with the environment!

Save Points Sick Save Drills to save your game in, each containing an Alpix Terminal!

Did we mention minigames? RiriCatch is a game! Save vegetables before they hit the ground! FloorIt is also a game! Outrun missiles pointed at the city’s core!

New text rendering engine New fonts! New dialog boxes that look way better! More responsive dialog controls! Text colors! Text fading! Text effects! Text scrolling! Branching dialog! Sound effects! Easily-configured asset formats for everything! Recompiled SDL TTF to fix a bug with text wrapping adding dead pixel space to the bottom of the surface. @_@

UI / performance improvements Clearer HP display! Graphics options adjustment! Dynamic FPS adjustment to keep things smooth! Sprite intersection improvements - performance and scripting! Optimized a ton of other stuff and removed thousands of lines of vestigial code!

Level editor changes:
Category nesting Organize your sprite library into folders for working efficiency!
Sprite layer positioning Adjust the position of sprites relative to other sprites on the same layer with a single click!
Sprite swap Swap the source of a sprite in the editor for another sprite with one click!
Images aren't locked while editor running  It was really annoying and doesn’t happen anymore!
Duplicate sprite button Increase your working efficiency infinitely with this convenient copy button!

Other things that happened in 2017:
TwitchCon ended up being way too expensive. Maybe next year.
Zerg took Blizzcon! I’m always rooting for Z.
One of my cats ran away. I still occasionally see her wandering around the neighborhood.
New house. New roommates. New job. Finances stable again. 
I’ll be resuming my paused college in the beginning of 2018. Degree soon.

ZackPack v1.2.14
Added AppleSkin 1.0.9, which shows saturation and exhaustion levels overlayed above and below the hunger bar, respectively, as well as a visual indication of how much hunger and saturation a food item will restore.
Updated Quark to r1.5-130.
Updated Aether Legacy to a fork of v3.2. The only differences are that some of the boss dialogues and messages have been updated to be more accurate and the JEI recipe category names have been changed. The source code of the modified classes can be found here.
Obsidian armor and Pressure Plates can now be melted down in the Smeltery.
Updated localization for consistency between mods.
Removed CodeChickenLib, as it is no longer required due to the removal of Not Enough Items.
Removed Not Enough Items. It’s functions are basically graphical commands and extensions to Just Enough Items, and can be easily substituted by features in vanilla Minecraft and Just Enough Items:
Inventory saving exists in vanilla Minecraft, but only for the hotbar, and only in creative mode.
Chunk borders and other visuals can already be toggled in vanilla Minecraft via the F3 debug screen.
There are commands in vanilla Minecraft that can do most of the same functions as the buttons located in the top left corner of the Not Enough Items interface.
The Just Enough Items item panel is not quite as configurable as the Not Enough Items item panel, but it is much less buggy.
Updated the “README.txt” file.
Changed default config options:
Molten Obsidian can no longer be created in a smeltery by alloying lava and water. It can only be created by melting down Obsidian now.
Removed the language button from the main menu. Most mods are not translated or are available in a very limited number of languages, so selecting a language often only affects vanilla anyway.
Minor updates for the mods that were updated.
