ZackPack v1.3.9 and Log4j Security Issue Fix
A security issue was recently discovered in the Log4j library used by Minecraft from 1.7 onwards. Mojang has already released a fix for all vanilla client versions through the Minecraft Launcher and instructions for how to fix the issue on vanilla servers, but ZackPack requires different fixes for the issue.
ZackPack v1.3.9 and ZackPack v1.4 Beta 2 use a newer version of Forge which fixes the issue. Please update to these versions if possible.
The issue can also be manually fixed for older versions of ZackPack:
ZackPack v1.3 Beta 5 and later (including ZackPack v1.3 and later) can be fixed by simply updating the version of Forge used to launch the game to Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2859. Since these versions originally used either Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2854 or Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2855 by default, they can be run using Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2859 without causing issues.
For client installations, download and run the installer for Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2859, select "Install client", click "OK", and wait for Forge to finish installing. Once the installation has completed, edit the profile you use to run ZackPack to use the version "1.12.2-forge-14.23.5.2859". To verify that this has worked, launch the game and click on the “Mods” button on the main menu. “Minecraft Forge” should appear in the list with the version “14.23.5.2859″.
For server installations, you first need to delete the “libraries” folder, as well as any .jar and .bat files in the main directory of your server installation. Once you have done that, download the fixed server files and move them into the directory you are running the server from. Follow the instructions in the “README.txt” file to finish re-installing and setting up the fixed server.
ZackPack v1.3 Beta 4 and earlier (including ZackPack v1.2.40 and earlier) use much older versions of Forge that cannot be manually updated without causing significant issues with certain mods in the modpack.
For client installations, it unfortunately doesn’t appear that there is much that can be done to fix the issue without causing other issues in the process, although you can read Forge’s advisory here for more information and potential solutions. As of right now, I would advise against playing multiplayer in any of these versions of ZackPack unless you are absolutely sure that you can trust everyone you are playing with.
Running these versions of ZackPack as a server was never officially supported and official server software was never provided (with the exception of two of the v1.3 betas). That being said, Forge’s advisory (which you can read here) has detailed information about how to manually fix the issue for server installations.
ZackPack v1.3.9 changelog:
Updated ZackPack Utility to v1.2.3.
Fixed the Volcanite Amulet being usable in adventure mode and spectator mode when in the Aether.
Fixed EMC not being required to place Aerogel with the Volcanite Amulet in survival mode.
Fixed the hand animation when the Volcanite Amulet is used to place Aerogel.
Fixed the Volcanite Amulet not being able to fill Smelteries, Tinker Tanks, and High Ovens with lava when in the Aether.
Updated Forge dependencies.
Updated to use Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2859, which is also now the minimum required version. This fixes the Log4j security issue.
Made minor tweaks to the main menu panorama to fix visual artifacts.
Updated the “README.txt” file.

ZackPack v1.4 Beta
WARNING: This is a beta version and might not work as expected. Use at your own risk.
This beta is not feature complete or representative of the full ZackPack v1.4 update, but what’s been implemented so far should be relatively stable. That being said, some of the most drastic changes planned for the full ZackPack v1.4 update have not yet been implemented, so expect major changes in subsequent beta releases.
Added Default Options 9.2.8, which allows the default values for settings and keybindings to be changed.
Certain options now have different defaults. Specifically, Auto-Jump, Realms Notifications, and the Snooper are now turned off by default, and a few of the default keybindings have been changed to prevent them from conflicting with one another.
Added Minecoprocessors 1.12.2-5, which adds a Redstone Processor that can be programmed using assembly language.
Added OldJavaWarning 1.1.11, which warns users with 32-bit Java and/or with a version of Java 8 prior to Java 8 Update 51 when launching the modpack.
Added Urkaz Moon Tools 1.8, which adds the Lunar Clock and Lunar Detector. The Lunar Clock functions like a Clock, but for moon phases rather than time. Lunar Detector functions like a Daylight Detector, but likewise for moon phases rather than time.
Updated AbyssalCraft to 1.10.4.
Updated AbyssalCraft Integration to 1.11.3.
Updated AutoRegLib to 1.3-32.
Updated DarknessLib to 1.1.1.
Updated Hungering Darkness to 1.4.1.
Updated Quark to Quark: ZackPack Edition r1.6-181. Official releases of Quark: ZackPack Edition can be found here, and the source code can be found here.
This update contains a huge amount of changes and new features compared to Quark r1.5-140, including:
Archaeologists, which can be found in new underground cabin structures. They can be traded with to obtain an Archaeologist Hat, which increases the drop rates from ores when worn.
Blossoming trees, which generate infrequently in mountain biomes.
Cave Roots, which generate infrequently in caves and drop items that can be eaten or turned into dyes.
Crabs, which spawn on beaches and drop their legs as food. They also drop Crab Shell Fragments, which can be brewed into Potions of Resilience which provide knockback resistance.
Elder Prismarine, which now generates in underground biomes beneath oceans in place of regular Prismarine.
Frogs, which spawn in swamps and, like Crabs, drop their legs as food. A Frog Leg can be crafted into a Golden Frog Leg, which can be brewed into a Potion of Leaping as a substitute for a Rabbit’s Foot.
Gravisand, which is crafted with eight Sand or Red Sand and a Molten Gravitite Bucket and will either fall downward or float upward when activated by redstone depending on its position.
Jasper and Slate, which are new stone variants. Jasper generates in desert and badlands biomes, while Slate generates in cold biomes. Additionally, the biomes in which the other stone variants generates has changed somewhat to accomodate this. Diorite no longer generates in Snowy Tundra, Darklands, or desert biomes, but will now generate in jungle biomes in addition to savanna and mushroom biomes, Marble will no longer generate in cold biomes, but will still generate in plains biomes, and Limestone will now only generate in swamp and ocean biomes. The generation of Granite and Andesite has remained unchanged, with Granite generating in mountains and hills biomes, and Andesite generating in forest biomes.
Horse Whistles, which can be used to call tamed Horses to the player within a certain range.
Iron Chains, which can be used to link Minecarts or Boats together and to craft Chainmail armor.
Redstone Inductors, which are new redstone circuits that outputs the value of the sum of its inputs.
Rope, which is crafted from string and can be climbed and used to lift and lower blocks.
Turf Blocks, which are decorative blocks made from grass.
New types of Slime Blocks which are created by dyeing normal Slime Blocks and will only connect to other Slime Blocks of the similar colors. More information about this can be found here.
Obsidian spikes generating infrequently in the lava lakes in the Nether.
The ability to right-click using a Hoe to harvest crops without needing to re-plant them.
The ability to create Dirt Paths from Dirt, Coarse Dirt, and Podzol in addition to Grass Blocks.
The ability to cycle arrows by scrolling while sneaking and holding any type of bow.
The ability to pet dogs.

Updated dependencies for AbyssalCraft and Tinkers’ Construct.

Removed MushroomFix since its functionality is now handled by ZackPack Utility.
Crafting recipes involving dyes now use Black Dye, Blue Dye, and White Dye instead of Ink Sacs, Lapis Lazuli, and Bone Meal, respectively.
Black Dye, Blue Dye, and White Dye are crafted from Ink Sacs, Lapis Lazuli, and Bone Meal respectively. They can also be crafted from their respective type of Sprout, which are obtainable from Cave Roots.
White Flowers are now used to craft White Dye instead of Light Gray Dye. Azure Bluets, Oxeye Daisies, and White Tulips are still used to craft Light Gray Dye.
Right-clicking to dye mobs still uses Ink Sacs, Lapis Lazuli, and Bone Meal instead of the new dyes.
The Book and Quill is still crafted using an Ink Sac.
Cocoa Beans are still used in crafting recipes as a brown dye.
The Watch of Flowing Time is now created using a ritual instead of a crafting recipe. The ritual can be performed anywhere but requires at least an Omothol Necronomicon.
Potions of Luck can no longer be brewed and are instead found in certain Stronghold chests.
Chainmail armor can now be crafted using Iron Chains.
Iron Ingots, Copper Ingots, Tin Ingots, and Aluminum Ingots can now be used interchangeably when crafting Coins.
