Tf2 dragon au time! I've had these guys in my brain for years and I finally decided to update them. So ask me anything and enjoy!
(please dont ask about the Sydney Sleeper would logistically work. Please I don't want to this about the biological implications of that modification.)

Despite his wings, Scout can't actually fly. He never learnt how to and can't get more than a flap or two in before losing coordination.

Soldier here works nearly identically to his human counterpart. Though he lacks the shotguns.

Surprisingly in this universe it's common for dragons to lack or have very rudamentary flame sacs. Course, Demo here has no need for spitting out hot rocks like the others, not when he's got his bombs.

Spy was a damn nightmare to design and incorporate gameplay designs into. His mimic ability is akin to that of an octopus or cuttlefish, changing colours and contorting himself to copy the shape of his target. The disguises are terrible and yet they still work for just long enough to get in striking distance.

Did you name your characters after their respective animals scientific name? That's such a interesting little detail! Their names sound fresh AND there's meaning! Catch me trying to figure out the first names of all characters now 😭😭 Not sure what aquatic animal has "Johnsoni" in their name though /j
I did, I’m glad you noticed this!! I just chose a part of their scientific name that looked like it would suit them. I’m really happy with how it turned out!! Something fresh but with meaning is what I was hoping for 💕
(I’ll clarify real fast that it’s not necessary in the game’s world to be named that way! Your mc can have any name. This is just something fun I like to do instead of coming up with names.)
I’ll put it under a cut, but here’s a list for everyone:
Thaumo = thaumoctopus mimicus (mimic octopus)
Nalis = sepia officinalis (common cuttlefish)
Tremo = tremoctopus (blanket octopus)
Dr. Willani = chromodoris willani (no common name)
Johnsoni = parastichopus johnsoni (Johnson’s sea cucumber)
Orca = orcinus orca (killer whale)
I haven’t decided on names for 2 people yet. I have their scientific names, I’m just still deciding which part of it suits them most!
The childhood friend = acanthaster planci (crown of thorns starfish)
The BERE agent = patiria miniata (sea bat or bat star)

Bad Dragon is suing SinSaint over copyright infringement of their dildo designs. What I want to know is, can you copyright the shape of a dog's dick? Because if you can, you shouldn't be able to.
I did knot need to hear about this one.

TSG is gonna be one of the more reputable sources for this one
MARCH 25--A manufacturer of “fantasy-themed sex toys” has accused an upstart Brooklyn, New York firm of knocking off its distinctive designs, according to a federal lawsuit alleging that the defendant has infringed on copyrights for dildos such as “Spritz the Seadragon” and “Tyson the Water Buffalo.”
In a March 20 complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Arizona, Bad Dragon Enterprises contended that its “sculptural” products have been illegally copied by SinSaint, which is headquartered in a Coney Island warehouse and advertises that all its “Ethically Manufactured” toys are “made in Brooklyn, USA.”
Bad Dragon, which noted that it has had “significant commercial success” in the adult toy field, alleged that SinSaint has been selling the duplicative dildos through its website and other trade channels, including the recent AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas (where the new firm’s exhibitor booth was next to that of the all-nude Palomino strip club).
The lawsuit identifies 13 separate dildos that Bad Dragon claims have been copied (and renamed) by SinSaint, which was incorporated in New York last year. The colorful silicone toys feature scales, tentacles, suction cups, and other design elements meant to mimic the genitalia of dragons, sea creatures, and other fantastical characters.
Some of the Bad Dragon products that SinSaint is accused of swiping are “Kelvin the Ice Dragon,” “Stan the T. Rex,” and “Vergil the Drippy Dragon.” SinSaint has not been accused of pirating other Bad Dragon offerings like “Jason the Demogorgon” or “Cuttlefish of Cthulhu.”
According to the lawsuit, SinSaint’s counsel last month stated that the company had begun removing “some of the allegedly infringing listings for product redesign.” This response, Bad Dragon contended, was “unacceptable,” adding that it “continues to be harmed by Defendant’s ongoing, unlawful conduct.”
The Bad Dragon complaint seeks an order enjoining SinSaint from continuing any further alleged
copyright infringement and seeks “disgorgement of all of Defendant’s profits” related to the artificial penises. The company may also seek statutory damages of up to $150,000 for each of the dildos in question.
For more than a decade, Bad Dragon has sought trademark and copyright protection for various product lines. While often successful, the firm’s application to trademark its “Cum Tube” was abandoned after a government attorney rejected the ejaculating dildo because the “applied-for mark consists of or includes immoral or scandalous matter.” The application included a very NSFW image, which can be found on the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office website.
According to an August 2023 trademark application, SinSaint’s owner is Oleg Semenenko, 50, a resident of Brooklyn’s gated Seagate community. Semenenko lives less than a mile from SinSaint’s warehouse, which shares an address with GlobMarble, an industrial molds business for which Semenenko is listed as “manager” in a separate trademark application filed this month.
In a brief interview today, Semenenko was asked how a dildo firm grew out of his original business. “We work with rubber,” he replied. Semenenko dismissed Bad Dragon’s claim that its products were unique and original: “How can octopus hand can be your idea?” (4 pages) ____________________________________________
Hope the judge that did the recent trump case gets this one, even though I know that's basically impossible, just the thought of making him listen to hours of testimony about how these rubber fantasy dildos are protected by copyright or trademark law, or something like that is funny to me.
It's not a revenge thing wanting it, just a keep him humble thing. I know you think you're hot shit now, so here listen to these arguments for a bit.
Totally different note, I'm wondering how long until the discourse starts up, or if it has already started up, where using horse dildos is either bestiality or a gateway to bestiality because what with the way people treat cartoons of fictional people I can't imagine it's far off or not already here.
Look to japan for the tentacle ones.........

thinking about it... I think this isn't necessarily Model Accurate, but it is what makes most sense to me, considering 1. he never moves his crossed "arms" (and while they might just not be rigged on his model to be able to move, they're also never uncrossed even in all official/most concept art), 2. there are other tentacles that he does use as arms, 3. we know that he can't transform due to an injury during the Great Turf War, and 4. we do have a canon image of him being injured. During the Great Turf War.
I also do think it is very interesting to note that his big X shaped scar is lime green, which is also shown in sunken scrolls to be the color for the Squid Army during the war. Obviously it's not the injury I think prevents him from transforming, but.
Anyways. Text transcriptions under the cut in case any of my writing is difficult to read:
Shogun General DJ Octavio Takowasa
(if you want to get technical, it's Takowasa (family name) Octavio (given name)) (he just likes the ring of DJ Octavio Takowasa more)
Swim form notes:
3 suckers on each tentacle
Legs are "crossed" both to keep them out of the way (they can't move...) and to mimic crossed arms. Intimidation factor. [crop of Cap'n Cuttlefish from Sunken Scroll 15, where he is referred to as "the unknown young man folding his arms"] like this lol
Notes on X scar:
[arrow pointing to bright green X mark on thigh] <-X scar location
Inflicted with something sharp (knife, sword), and ink-tipped (in squidling lime green) to prevent it from healing quickly
Even if he hadn't later been paralyzed, the leg injury would still be disabling. He'd probably have chronic pain and need a mobility aid, especially since his refusal to rest/use a mobility aid/take pain meds regularly while healing probably made the injury Worse.
Notes on The Injury:
Spinal injury + soaked in enemy ink for a while + eventual respawn (in swim form). Can't transform if you can't send signals to your legs.
[image of lime green scarring on his back/right side] If he could still transform, the scarring would probably look something like this
idfk how and where this translates on swim form
The numbers 1 through 8 are there to compare his limbs+hair in octoling form to his tentacles in swim form. 1-2 are his legs, 3-4 his arms, 5-6 his curled tentacles in the front, and 7-8 the back hair.

What TMA characters do you think would be as an animal? Here's a few of mine! Only just started S4 BTW so opinions may change. Also some of these I based of what the animal represents or their tendencies.
Jon - Moth vibes, dragon fly, fox, panther
Martin - maybe a fox due to appearances. Possibly Cow. Golden retriever personality S1, ooh or an Ainu maybe an artic wolf? Maybe a bear?
Tim - ferret, racoon, lizard, cool animals
Sasha - Mimic Octopus and blue jay for reasons... But yea maybe something mousey or like an owl especially for s1?
Melanie - Pygmy Goat, ram idk she just kinda guves that vibe. Like look at them and then look at her. Same thing.
Basira - crow/raven aka a corvid bcs she's smart
Daisy - wolf, Black-footed cat, other types of hunters
Elias - snake (obvi), jackal, eagle, owl, agree with the horned owl
Peter Lukas - polar bear agree with that, squid/octopus, Kelpie (not real but oh well)
Mike - birds. Idk which just birds. Preferably blue or white. Maybe the Impundulu or Alpine Chough. A goat/ram bcs thunder. Marten. Snow lepord
Michael - Adax, box jellyfish, sea slug, lilac breasted roller
Helen - butterfly, Livingstone's Cichlids, Orchid mantis
Georgie - fluffy cat! Bat, raven, Moth, black swan
Gerry - axolotl, bearded dragon, bat, again cool animals
Trevor - bear, wolf, hawk
Julia - hare, black ram, wolf
Nikola - coyote, cuttlefish, Angler Fish, vampire squid and yknow what screaching owl
Breekon & Hope - margay, rams, bulls, parrot, gorrila, tiger
Danny (Stoker) - honey badger
Any other ideas? Even if it's just one or two give it a whirl ❤️

Impos mimics the suits of astronauts, subtle features can peak out but to anyone else it seems like small accessory. Auite literally all of it is his actual skin that he can change the textures of (like a cuttlefish). Hes never found trouble outside of the discomfort of low/high temperatures or someone touching too close to his less hidden features

As I'm a bit bored, I'm gonna assign a sea animal to each fear:
Eye: Barreleye fish (Have green eyes visible from their transparent head that they use to detect camouflaged prey from otherwise unseen depths. Its eyes always lock onto its prey no matter where it faces. Alternatively, just about every single reef fish with eyespots count)
Lonely: 52-Hertz whale (Trying to assign entire species to fears instead of just one case, but I can't just pass this one)
Vast: Blue whale (Don't think I need to explain this one)
Buried: Bobbit worm (Worm that hunts prey by dragging them deep into its underground burrow. A real life version of the Dune worms)
Dark: Stoplight loosejaw (A sea bogeyman; its prey can't see it, but it's adapted to be able to see and follow them in the dark. Plus it's a deep sea fish)
Stranger: Mimic octopus (I could put the anglerfish here, but there's an animal named after its ability to partially mimic the coloration and movements of other animals so yeah)
Spiral: Basket starfish (Seriously, just look at this thing. It's like Gertrude used a starfish instead of Michael to stop the Great Twisting)
Slaughter: Tiger shark (A toss up between this and the humboldt squid, but I remember that tiger sharks eat and attack just about anything they can get their hands (fins?) on)
Hunt: Orca (They strategize hunting tactics in groups, know how to use bait, hunt sharks by turning their own biology against them, and even breach themselves just to get an extra bite. That's how good they are as hunters)
Flesh: Pyura chilensis (People it this thing. Why the fuck does it look so meaty?)
End: Boneworm (Eat the bones of dead whales, fully ending the existence of something as not even their bones remain)
Extinction: Jellyfish (If the ocean fully acidifies yet is still livable, they'd possibly be the only sea animal alive. We did this, we ruined the ocean's biodiversity)
Desolation: Mantis shrimp (Tbh I'm not so sure what else to put here, but they punch so hard that the area around the temporarily heats up to be as hot as the sun's surface and can break about anything. They're also called thumbsplitters by some people because of how painful a punch from them is)
Corruption: Lionfish (Venomous fishes that appear in just about every coral reef around the world as invasive species, assimilating themselves into places that they shouldn't be as if they're naturally part of it)
Web: Cuttlefish (Look at this one using hypnosis to disarm a crab)

Cataloguing how The Octolings feel about Octavio
Some amount of this is headcanon, but I always aim for my headcanon to mimic canon.
Marina
I think it's somewhat undeniable that Marina's views on Octavio are skewed. In Side Order, she typically refers to him by "boss" and even goes out of her way to say that he isn't so bad, but I'm rather confident in my point that Marina is lying to herself about how bad it was.
As previously stated, I feel Sheldon's palette is generally intended to imply that Marina disapproves of Octavio's general behaviors with managing the Octarian empire- Forcing impressionable youths down the path of the Octarian military, your standard warlord stuff.
But it's also worth adding onto this that Octavio's palette adds onto this that, in spite of her repressing Octavio's worse aspects, he is still ultimately a terrible leader. Even while seeing him as, at best, a silly old man, he is grossly negligent about the wellbeing of his people.
As one of the head engineers within Octavio's very own unit, it's very clear why Marina would have this bias- while she also suffered as an Octarian, she likely ultimately experienced a slightly less harsh experience, being a brilliant and diligent worker. But then, that only makes Octavio's flaws stand out more.
Acht
Acht seems slightly more actively disillusioned to Octavio, but in the same way Acht was already disillusioned about being a soldier from the beginning. I don't think it outright started as rebellion, but simply a lack of urgency. Someone who wouldn't buy into propaganda, and as such, likely doesn't see the point in training to be the best soldier possible. Still, they comment on Octavio some, and their commentary generally makes it seem as though Octavio is in some respects a parallel to Cuttlefish.
This kind of opens some things up- because, to me, it feels fairly on the nose that Cuttlefish is not meant to be a particularly respect-worthy figure, especially after Octo Expansion. Octavio, much like Cuttlefish, will never change; he's an old codger who's caught up in a long-past war. The operative difference is that Octavio seemingly has political power and Cuttlefish does not. If Cuttlefish had the same amount of power, it's not unlikely that he would behave extremely similarly.
Eight
Most of Eight's identity comes from mem cakes- to me, Eight feels extremely vindictive of the Octarian empire. I have to imagine this is because Eight was not an elite Octarian, nor an engineer- rather than being bumped up in her education like Marina was, Eight was always just going to be a grunt. The language in the mem cakes, to me, feels seeped with anger and catharsis in escaping; her mem cake for Octavio oozes with sarcasm.
Speaking of Eight, looking over the mem cakes again... I have to wonder if the boss Tentacle's description means anything. As previously stated, my going theory for the connection between Acht and Eight is that Eight is a clone. The boss tentacles are specifically cited as a clone of one of Octavio's limbs...
Tumblr media
Worth taking note of.
Beyond that, I don't really have much of a conclusion. Octavio is a bad person and if you want him to be redeemed I kind of hate you.

Okay I promised some kind of rambling dive into my “synthetic cryptid” nonsense to a few people and so here we go. This is essentially a breakdown of the idealized “Monstersona” I fantasize about. This post is gonna be more of a generic breakdown of it and then the reblog is gonna be about the kinks I fantasize with it. Throwing the rest under a read more to not clutter things up.
I am constantly of divided mind between “I want to be something lurking in the deep woods with fur and fangs and a hatred for general society” and “I want to be something made from the digital nightmares of the advancement of technology.” The closest thing I can come to combining the two aspects is a creature born of technology that carved out a niche for itself in urban sprawl but bears itself like a beast.
Something made of a digitized essence wrapped in a mesh of synthetic flesh and technological modifications. Not something created for this purpose, but something beastly and scavenged, with a kind of kitbashed beauty. A weird blend of hardlight, “flesh”, and exposed metal. I actually made something of a fictional universe with this as a concept in it, but that’s neither here or there.
Something with fangs of sharp metal, claws of gleaming solid light, fur/hair laced with fiber optic cables. Tech under the skin resembling chromatophores, so that it can blend into spaces and be harder to spot. Gleaming neon eyes, tendrils of metal and synthetic skin, a gaping maw in the torso and the ability to hide or retract these traits if needed to be less obtrusive. Also, some kind of voice modulator voicebox for echoing, voice changing, and just cathartic noise stimming. Surprising no one, there’s heavy influence from a number of monsters including my favorite, the mimic.
I’m also not imagining an uncontrollable mad predator, because it’s a lot of my personal stuff tied up into it. To be transparent, it’s more about the ability to blend in for simplicity, but also to rage and stand out and fight back if it’s needed. Lesser shapeshifting around a body built to claw out a place for itself.
So, to summarize. Hardlight and metal inlad in a body of artificial flesh. Chromatophore color changing pigment within the skin, and the ability to blend in when needed to travel without difficulty. A weird hybrid of human, mimic, cuttlefish, and fox, yes. I think that’s as close as I can get to a basic explanation. But I figure that there’s a few people waiting for the follow up to this post, so…

a BIG list of “Realistic” pokemon!
Politoed: like the lyrebird of frog pokemon, sets off every frog pokemon in their area because they mimic the calls of other frogs, confusing them.
Bidoof: its a baby beaver
Squirtle: squirtles live out in the sea or in deep lakes for a long time, before they develop a more stout, Snapping-turtle like body plan to facilitate them becoming more terrestrial to avoid competing too much with their young
Blaziken: this chicken remembered it was a dinosaur and stood up
Pelipper: a fell beast known as a Pelican. but with an even BIGGER throat pouch
Surskit: the nymph stage of maquerain. their undeveloped wings come together to form a protective spike for now
Gastly Line: misinterpreted as spirits of the dead, these spider-pokemon have a peculiar defense, by folding their limbs together with coloration that makes them resemble a big scary face with a dangling tongue. as they grow older they weave more webbing together to make a false Puppet-body to hide in and protect itself (known at this point as a ‘Haunter’). when they reach a certain age, many Haunter will move into the same web-body together and mate continuously with each other (Colloquially known as a “Gengar”). their webs are coated with a substance that dries easily and is toxic when inhaled, as a defense mechanism they shake their web furiously to scatter this substance as a toxic cloud of powdered dust.
Wobbuffet: wasnt sure what to do with wobbuffet, my beloved weirdo. had 4 ideas. 1: wobbuffet is a gecko with a huge tail. 2: Wobbuffet is a sea cucumber with an inflatable filament. 3: wobbuffet is some sort of hydrozoan. 4: wobbuffet is it’s own funky monstery thing. could be any of em
Chandelure line: getting it’s own post soon
Mimikyu: a land cuttlefish that once used hide and furs from dead pokemon to cover itself as a decoy and keep its body from drying out (putting it in direct competition with Banette) now moved onto the much more plentiful human-made cloth scraps and plushies. when surprised they flash and strobe in bright lights and colors, causing epileptic seizures in those who are sensitive.
Rotom: a form of flatworm, once considered a pest. they are attracted to old electronics due to the rubber gaskets, fittings and wire insulation. they feed on these before gradually breaking down the copper wiring. due to an instinct to aggressively defend their food source with electronic shocks, and being attracted to areas of high current (like the control panel or capacitors) this gives the impression that rotom ‘Possesses’ electronics
Solosis line: an amphibian pokemon that evolved to retain it’s gelatinous egg casing as a protective coating. the jelly is full of muscle fibers and neurons in a sort of mesh that is difficult to see.
Sandygast: an octopus pokemon that prowls the beach for krabby to eat. they cover themselves in sand to protect from the beating sun, even stealing unattended shovels from children on the beach to help. they prop themselves up as false shelter to the krabby to hide in away from wingull, before plopping down on them and devouring them.
Sawk & Throh: 2 morphs of the same species of short tailed/Tailless komodo dragon pokemon. living in small groups that fight constantly to establish pecking order. the sawk morph is very speedy and nimble in exchange for being very frail in comparison, while the Throh morph is much stronger and heavier but extremely slow. there is a misunderstanding that sawk and throh are ‘entirely male’ but this is untrue, rather they have a genital configuration similar to hyena’s, not to mention mating is rarely ever observed and thus poorly understood.
Kecleon: a lizard pokemon with a highly sophisticated form of camouflage, their scales even capable of taking on levels of bioluminescence and phosphorescence to increase the effectiveness of the disguise. the red band along their midsection is a clear selection of scales over a patch of light-sensitive cells that automatically adjust levels of light for their camouflage while the eyes focus on depth, shapes, details and colors.
Yamask line: black scavenger birds that build nests from glittering, sparkling objects. in the past they were known to appear in the homes of recently deceased in the unovan desert, attracted by the bronze ‘death mask’ laid over the face of the deceased, the fact that they were constantly found taking them created the myth that these birds are in fact the souls of the departed. when they mature they lose the ability to fly, but gain much greater strength and developed phalanges on their former-wings that helps them carry their nest easier. in the past they wove their nests as baskets with both lid and container to retain all the sparkling materials theyve gathered with a special, weblike secretion from their Mucus glands. but with the increasing popularity of coffins, caskets and sarcophagi in bright, glittering colors they became much more entranced by them and grew in strength to use them as semi-mobile shelter. they are Highly aggressive and possessive of anything theyve gathered.
Castform: a form of jellyfish pokemon. while technically speaking very resistant to changes in weather, they Do react strongly to it, which was a trait long bred into them by humans for weather prediction. as such, they are 'made' by humans, but not as directly as some 'synthetic' pokemon

MORE!! We shall always have more questions regarding these goobers. Can mimics detect if someone is lying through scent? Can they smell emotions like Tanjiro? Can a speaker mimic sense if someone is lying through listening for an elevated heart rate or breathing? Can a camera mimic’s lens feel touch, like a human eye? Can a TV mimic’s screen feel touch? How do mimics bathe? Do they wash themselves in the rain or lick themselves? Do they take their ‘clothes’ off to bathe? Do camera mimics have toes/toe beans under their shoes or do their shoes not come off (does this apply to TV mimics too)? Do all speaker mimics have interchangeable arms and wings? Can TV mimics make other things/humans invisible if they go invisible while in contact with them? Can a mimics claws retract so they can grab stuff better without puncturing it or damaging it by accident?
Questions 1-3: Speaker mimics can tell the most about whether or not someone is lying. They can also tell if they love someone through the same means. Elevated core rotations (for alliance members) can help a speaker mimic tell if the individual is stressed, lying, or in love. While detecting lies through scent is much more difficult, some scents come through stronger than others. Like pheromones. If you want to interrogate someone for one reason or another, your best bet is to use a speaker mimic. Can a Camera mimic's lens feel touch?: Yes. But it's similar to a human eye, even when under a pane of glass. It's sensitive and the metal lenses surrounding it may snap shut on your fingers if you touch it. Best to treat them like eyes and keep your digits away from them. Can a TV mimic's screen feel touch?: Yes! They can feel touch on their screen, but it's not actually a screen. It's a luminescent square that takes on the appearance of a TV unit. It's "screen" is actually a layer of skin that has shifting colored cells on the inside, similar to a cuttlefish. Which expand and contract to show expressions and to send messages. How do mimics clean themselves?: Mimic clean usually through tongues, but they also bathe similarly to humans. There's designated areas in nests that involve water and mimics will clean off themselves with chemicals similar to how humans do it. They usually only engage in licking when they are covered in blood from their victims or their offspring need a quick clean up from blood or food that has smeared their face. While they are animalistic, they still carry over traits from their "human era" of mimicry. Can mimics take off their clothes?: Primarily, no. Their clothes are actually their version of skin and it protects them from the elements and attacks. However, they can reduce their "skin" to a more "bare" version, also called their "underskin". Which is what constitutes them as being "nude". Think of it as a temporary absorption of their outer layer to reveal the inner layer hidden underneath. Some mimics will even "shed" their skin to reveal a new healthy layer that is much softer and loser for a time before it thickens up and accommodates the growth of the mimic. This only occurs with young mimics and infants. As for having toe-beans? Sure. Why not? However, it's merged with their "shoes". As the shoes themselves can't come off. Do all speaker mimics have interchangeable wings?: Yes! All speaker mimics have their own wings. They aren't all the same either! For example, if you have a speaker mimic that has a pinstripe suit on, the wings will also have those stripes! Same with colors! If there's a gradient, pattern, or accessories on the sleeves of the speaker mimic, they carry over into the wings design! So you can have wings with stripes, jewels, patterns, and styles all catered to unique mimics! Can a TV mimic render other things invisible?: Both yes and no. The object itself can't be turned invisible, but if it's hidden under their cloak, the object won't be seen. So it would have to be hidden under the mimic's actual body to render it invisible. Can a mimic retract their claws?: In their "idle" forms, yes they can! It help to fool their prey and to prevent harming their allies or friends when they grab them or touch them.
