Ok so here’s the deal, just got a new car (the first one that isn’t fully shared with my mom) it’s a blue van and I’m naming it. I’ve narrowed down the list, but now I need help picking so (in no particular order)
Anyway there used to be WAY more names on the list and I’m kinda impressed that I narrowed it down to 9 so fast.

Six Years ago we were chasing about London, the city was decked out in Christmas cheer and we were blissfully unaware of all the changes to come.
Roy and Marguerite were our next door neighbors and adopted parents from when we lived in Bedfordshire in the early nineties. They’d come down on the train to spend the day with us.
Things were fine until Roy decided to take the stairs at one of our stops. Roy is from Manchester and Marguerite, a Welsh woman from Wrexham.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can still hear Marguerite shouting at him to not take the stairs. It was no use, we all abandon the lift, which had just arrived, to accompany him. He very nearly didn’t make it and later that day, though he tried to carry on, he physically broke down. In the years since, he recovered somewhat but was never the same.
Why share this bitter memory? Well first and foremost, it’s my blog and… that’s it.
Recently I’ve been watching FB Reels of an Englishman named Phil Carr. He reminds me of Roy. Funny, sharp, and his ruddy cheeks and voice are reminiscent of the younger Roy who could walk D and I into begging for a break even though we were in our twenties.
The reel that prompted this trip down memory lane was a piece Phil posted on the town of Milton Keynes. Phil’s bits are mostly about the towns of the UK. They are informative, humorous, and more than anything are exactly how most educated English people of a certain era express themselves. I love it!!!
Paraphrasing-
Milton Keynes is only fifty something years old and was created when the Queen stopped giving a shit.
There’s a Tesla dealership next to a Victoria Secrets so new Tesla owners can get a glimpse of women’s underwear for the last time.
Anyway. If you love the English, like I do, or merely want some insight about the UK, check out his Reels or TikTok.

St. Almedha, sixth century. Virgin and martyr also called Aled or Filuned. The Welsh tradition reports that Almedha was the daughter of King Brychan. Having taken a vow of virginity and dedicated to Christ, Almedha fled from her father's royal residence to escape marriage to the prince of a neighboring kingdom. She went to three Welsh villages - Llandrew, Llanfillo, and Llechfaen - but the people turned her away, despite her promise warning that dreadful thing calamities would befall anyone who denied her sanctuary. Almedha reached Brecon, where she took up residence in a small hut, but the king arrived and demanded her return. When she refused him, he beheaded her. Tradition states that a spring of water appeared on the site of her murder. Attention to all StEx fans! Here come some characters I spoke about in some headcanons, but never bothered to draw until now!
🌹Tudor Rose's design is very Tudor-dinasty inspired, and she was the Welsh National engine from 1959 to 1964, when the Royal Family chose her as Royal Engine after winning the 1964 World Championship Railroad Race in Greece. She and Milton Keynes met after the 1984 Championship, fell in love, and eventually had Princey (who became the Royal Engine in 1990) and Unity (who was stolen by Ukip in 2003, renamed Brexit, and forced to be Nigel Farage's personal engine until 2015, when a Scottish Stationmistress saved him and kept him safe until 2018... but this is another story.)
💠Sapphire is inspired by 1997 On Ice! Pearl and Kristi Yamagutchi, who skate to a short medley of the musical with Rudi Galindo in 1990, as shown HERE. I accidentally made her look like the Asian lovechild of Elsa and Cinderella, and I'm proud of it. Also, she and Canuck work together in Canada, and are a couple.
💎Diamond's design is inspired both by Pearl's costumes in the Joburgh (hair pin, choker and puffy sleeves) and Tuacahn (the overskirt-cage thing and the gloves) productions, and was, by far, the hardest to draw and color. She's currently working on a private railway in Western USA.

In one of the stunning turnarounds witnessed at the Darts World Masters, a young star was stunned out when 18-year-old world champion Luke Littler suffered defeat in the quarter-final against Wales' veteran darts player, Jonny Clayton, in a match that came close to completion with a loss of 4-2 against the Welsh at Milton Keynes. Littler had a great display of his talents throughout the game, hitting nine 180s to Clayton's eight. He also averaged better at 108.50 compared to his opponent's 103.96. However, what made this thriller was Clayton's accuracy in finishing. While Littler only hit 35% of his doubles, with seven out of 20, Clayton capitalized on the crucial moments, hitting nine out of 15 for 60%. DARTS NOW, CC BY 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0, via Wikimedia Commons The 50-year-old Welshman finally delivered when it mattered the most, providing crucial checkouts, like the decisive tops finish in the third leg of the sixth set. That moment pushed him ahead and ultimately sealed his win, that being a huge step forward in his run within the tournament. Despite the defeat, Littler remained composed and showed sportsmanship by acknowledging his opponent's brilliance. Though he could not perform at his best, the night belonged to Clayton. His magnificent display included three century-plus checkouts, one of which was a stunning 138 finish, whereas Littler failed to register a single ton-plus checkout. Reflecting on his victory, Clayton said, "This stage likes me, I think. Luke didn't play his A-game, it's a battle, and I got over the line." He conceded Littler's dominance in their last few meetings, adding, "He has given me a big lesson the last two times, so I've got one back." With a huge grin, Clayton continued, "I just tried to concentrate—please hit the treble 20. It went my way, it was my day. Finishing is what wins you games—trebles for fun, doubles for dough. I'm relaxed, I'm enjoying the tournament, and hopefully, I can carry on." Littler's journey doesn't end here. He will return to action on Thursday as the Premier League Darts season rolls off. He faces Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals as he begins his title defense at Belfast. The tournament has given much high-stakes drama so far, and fans expect even more electrifying moments as the world's best players battle each other for supremacy at the oche. I can understand why some people do not like Terrence Malick . His movies encompass a different kind of motion, language and direction, grappling with situations sometimes over the limit. If one can only watch- and understand- Marvel and Adam Sandler movies, it may be complicated to dabble in this kind of  cinematography. I myself do not like all his movies, but that happens with many other directors like Mike Nichols, Coppola, Sydney Lumet, David Lean and Spielberg. After all, no one is born a John Ford, Frank Capra or Billy Wilder. However, Malick’s The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece and, in my opinion, one of the most riveting anti-war movies I have ever watched.
The dialogues between Private Witt and Sergeant Welsh, the monologues based on Shakespeare, John Doe, Yeats, Steinbeck, Marcus Aurelius and Milton, the integrity and inhumanity of the officers, the utter loss of innocence, the soothing comfort found in friendship among chaos and mayhem and the belief that we can act with justice even when confronted with our inner demons. In one scene, Private Witt askes himself, after seeing a devasted village and the ensuing evil that prevails, where that spirit of “this great evil” madness and insanity came from, where it had been concealed and what released it. In a  dialogue with the decent and fantastic Sgt Welsh, he tells Witt that there is only one world and not one where all is ]gonna be ok. Witt says there is another one and he has been there, to which Welsh says he is luckier that he is to have known it.
This is perhaps being naïve, delusional or unrealistic, but I have also been to good worlds, and many of them were in my country, Brasil. The music we composed, the literature we wrote, the smiles and hugs we gave, the fights we won and the language, history and the diversity we built as a nation.   However, the great evil prevails and its roots are entangled and intertwined within ourselves. In our self-righteous fundamentalist families, in our prejudiced minds and in our fascist souls. When we , as a people, behave as if we were in colonial times and treat them as if they were inferior, we are not worth it.
Every time I read articles as the ones attached above, read that a large percentage of the population agrees it is a woman’s fault to be raped or make an abortion, mock a person for its color skin, kill and mar women for simply an idea of possession, consider homosexuals to be an aberration, applaud youtubers, false prophets and career militia politicians who spew their fascist remarks disguised as freedom of speech (just like the Nazis did during the Weimar Republic) and embrace their corrupt sickness as a right-wing mentality, we have failed as a nation and people. Perhaps I prefer to be as delusional as Pvt. Witt and believe that maybe another world, even if ephemerous, must exist somehow as an escape from all this evil and perversity.
