Deciphering Mikoto's phone!
This is mostly focusing on miscellaneous bits of his phone screen, for a full translation of his texts, I recommend Rochisama's wonderful translation
Tumblr media
Before the first call, we see the time is 0:35 in the morning. In the top right corner, we can see the train station apparently gets 4G and Mikoto's battery is at 29% He is getting texts from his チーフ (Chiifu/chief/boss) on milgram's equivalent of LINE (basically Japanese Whatsapp) Each notification is called メッセージ (messeji/message) and we can see that the most recent two do not have timestamps (although usually new messages on Japanese phones get timestamped 今/ima/now though I don't think this has any significance) But the two messages already on Mikoto's phone were sent 5分前/go fun mae/5 minutes ago and 7分前/nana fun mae/7 minutes ago At the bottom of the screen is the message スワイプでロック解除 (suwaipu de rokku kaijo) meaning 'swipe to unlock' (or more literally 'swipe to release lock' but this is a standard phrase on Japanese lockscreens - although many examples on google images say スライド/slide instead of swipe, once again this probably has no significance)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is when Mikoto's boss begins calling him Under the big チーフ (boss) we see the kanji for 携帯 (keitai/mobile phone) this means Mikoto's boss is probably calling from a personal cell rather than an office phone... Under Mikoto's thumb is more standard phone stuff the one almost hidden is 後で通知 (ato de tsuuchi/Notify me later) Under the red hang up button is 拒否 (kyohi/refuse) and under the green accept call button is 応答 (outou/reply)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally we get to the call with Mikoto's mother, labeled 母さん/kaasan, this isn't actually that childish a thing to refer to your mother as (at least to her, it would be if Mikoto told a stranger like Es or his boss he was calling his 'kaasan', in those situations he'd be expected to say 母/haha) Its slightly more casual than お母さん/okaasan but it doesn't really matter that much, its a quite common term, especially for teenage boys/young men (Interestingly, in his first interrogation question of T1, Mikoto does write 'mother' as お母さん but that might not be too odd because he answers all his T1 questions like its a social media bio, which you'd expect to be casual)
Tumblr media
Underneath this we see the phrase 通話終了 (tsuuwa shuuryou/call terminated) Above we see there is still 4G, be battery is harder to read, but still seems to say 29%/be in a similar charge to before But the time has changed to 6:09 (presumably still in the morning)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(the other options not visible on Mikoto's phone say ミュート (myuuto/mute), キーパッド (kiipaddo/keypad), スピーカー (supiikaa/speaker) and 通話を追加 (tsuuwa wo tsuika/add call)

Things I Noticed About Mikoto’s Trial 2 Album Cover:
Tumblr media
Here’s the album cover in its entirety for context
-----
1.) There are 2 prominent ahoges
Tumblr media
As opposed to only having one in Mikoto’s default sprites
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-----
2. The side of Mikoto’s face with a terrified expression kinda has crooked teeth
Tumblr media
While the side of Mikoto’s face with an angry expression has a fang
Tumblr media
-----
3. Mikoto’s door seems similar to the doors in subway trains
Tumblr media
Not 100% sure though since it looks a bit different
But if that really is a door for subway trains, then it’s concerning that it’s opened like that in Mikoto’s album cover since
Tumblr media
The doors for subway trains are supposed to open sideways
(GIF Source)
Well, I acknowledge that all doors in Trial 2 albums are opened like that, but it’s still curious that they chose this type of door for Mikoto because it’s one of those that you don’t open via manually pushing/pulling it, or is usually the case anyway
-----
4. The door that aligns with the half of Mikoto’s face with a terrified expression looks bloodier at 1st glance
Tumblr media
Possibly because Mikoto’s figure conceals most of the blood on the door that’s aligned with the angry half of their expression
Tumblr media
Almost as if telling Es to focus on the Mikoto with a terrified expression, on the severity of [mental] wounds that they caused him. All the while downplaying his own [mental] wounds, the ones that are carried by the Mikoto with an angry expression
It would play into how the angry Mikoto painted himself as the perpetrator, the terrified Mikoto only a victim in all of this (haha Cat reference yes):
"I (ore) am the one who did it! I (boku) didn't do it!"
『やったのは俺だ! 僕はやってない! 』
(Translator)
-----
5. There are 3 (or 4) words on the album cover that could allude to a ‘self’
Tumblr media
Double (1),  I(2)’m, Me(3)Me(4)
I included “Double” because one definition of it is:
a person who looks exactly the same as someone else
Tumblr media
Which raises the possibility of there being not only 1 ‘double’ but several
(That said, it’s possible that Milgram will only focus on 2 Mikotos, which are the ones featured on this album cover)

i know most people have talked about fuuta and amane having locks on their doors already but its so interesting to me that rumerie's signature points at the keyhole on fuuta's
it leaves me wondering if we missed anything in backdraft except for the graffiti and the end part or if that was all there was to see
(more on my rb)

I can't stop thinking of Kyanako's Order of Attack au... there's something so moving to me about how things getting so much worse could be what finally causes Amane to get better -- seeing Fuuta dying may be the final straw of getting her to rethink her rejection of medicine. Been a while since I've attempted something whump-y, this was fun to work with.
Tw for mentions/contemplation of death. I don't go into detail about the cult but the doctrines are implied through it all.
Fuuta was not a big fan of dying.
When he imagined his own death, he always pictured it as something dramatic and fast. Action heroes going out in a show of explosions and gunfire. Fantasy characters meeting the shining end of a blade. Even when he accepted his place in Milgram, it filled his mind with images of gallows and electric chairs.
Whatever this slow, lengthy fever was, it was pissing him off.
He’d lost all sense of time. He could no longer tell which hour the prison bells were marking -- morning and night blended together. Dreaming and waking blended together. His head injury and broken leg and broken bones blended together. It was all just pain at the end of the day. He had nonstop visitors that kept him awake and asked him too many questions and prodded his injuries and made his head spin. Somehow, he was simultaneously alone every time he rolled over to talk to someone. Painfully, suffocatingly alone.
If Kotoko was going to kill him with those ridiculous emo boots of hers, she should have just done it. He was losing his mind here: devoid of all energy, suffering through broken bones and a cracked head, and boiling in an increasingly fiery fever. Maybe that was the reason he stopped commenting when he watched Amane pocket the medicine Shidou had left him. Maybe that was why he’d stopped following Shidou’s instructions himself. Even after losing an eye and taking a beating herself, Amane always looked at peace. He was tired of dealing with all of this. He wanted a bit of that peace.
Regardless of why, it was working. His fever had quickly gone from the biggest pain in his ass to the very thing that dulled his racing thoughts.
He awoke suddenly, or maybe he’d already been awake. He couldn’t feel anything in his limbs. There was only a breathless heat around him. He raised himself into a sitting position, looking for a drink. Moving his head felt like one of those glitching computer windows that leaves a trail of copies behind it. The room swam around him. His eyes moved absently around him.
Fuuta picked up the glass that someone had left him. His fingers were clumsy, and it immediately went crashing to the ground. He hardly heard the noise as it broke apart on the concrete below.
He swung his legs over the side of the bed. He’d just go get a drink himself. Shidou told him not to get up without help. But what did he know? Thinking of the man ordering him around only drove Fuuta to step out of bed even quicker. He cried out, pain shooting through his leg. That was right, it was broken…
Fuuta looked down, finding himself on the ground. It was so hot. Maybe this is what she felt, he thought numbly. Was it this slow for her too? Probably not. She had no regrets to fill the time like he did. The heroes got quick, beautiful deaths, and it was the villains who had to suffer the long ones.
He lifted his right palm from where it had caught his fall. The shattered glass on the floor had cut into it. Shattered glass? What had broken? He stared blankly at the blood dripping down.
He didn’t have the strength to raise himself up. He was burning. Why was he on the ground? Was he bleeding? He could barely breathe. What was he doing here, anyway? He just wanted to curl up and sleep. He was so weak... just to lie down... he wouldn't have the strength to get back up again. Was that such a bad thing...?
A voice caught his attention. His eyes struggled to focus on the figure who’d come running into the cell. He couldn’t understand a word of what she was saying, but he was happy when she pressed her cool little hands against his forehead.
He allowed her to prop him up next to the bed. She held onto his hand, squeezing it tight. Why was she holding it like that? That hand was bleeding. When did that happen?
Her arms wrapped tightly around him. He wanted to shove her away -- it was too hot -- but couldn’t. In his ear, he could make out her words. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Please, Fuuta. Don’t leave me alone. I’m so sorry...”
As she pulled back, he recognized Amane. Her uninjured eye was filled with tears. Was she upset? He thought he’d been making her happy. He wanted to keep making her happy. He’d never made anyone happy before.
He opened his mouth to say something, but no words would come out. They all scrambled up in his mouth. He felt the cell swirling around him.
Amane raised her voice. She looked desperately upwards. “This can’t be --! This isn’t right!”
Fuuta looked up at the ceiling. There was nothing there.
“I can’t do this anymore.”
She continued talking. Fuuta was too busy studying the ceiling. She was shouting. Or maybe crying. Fuuta didn’t like that she was so upset. Huh, had there been someone there? He surveyed the empty cell. What was he doing on the ground?
He looked down at his hand. The sheet from his bed had been pulled down and wrapped hastily around it. Why? His eyes felt sticky as he blinked. Everything hurt. It was so hot. What was going on? He was so angry. He was so scared. He wanted to cry. Why was he here? Why couldn’t he just hurry up and die already?
The next time she entered, Fuuta recognized Amane instantly. Her one hand pointed to him, the other held onto someone else. The second figure hurried over to him.
Fuuta was not a big fan of dying. Shidou reassured him he wouldn’t.
“You’re wearing the eyepatch,” Fuuta observed.
He was playing a dangerous game, drawing attention to it like that. He was too exhausted, and his curiosity won out over his better judgment. If Amane was going to explode with one of her typical speeches, he’d just let her.
She didn’t.
Amane’s hand drifted up to her eye. It had been hastily covered before, but now it was cleaned and wrapped in professional-grade materials. She simply said,  “Kajiyama Fuuta. How do you feel?”
“Like shit.”
“But--”
“-- But I’m better, yeah.”
Amane nodded, her shoulders releasing.
“Oi, I haven’t seen you in a while. Not since…” He wasn’t sure how to finish the sentence. Shidou had told him what happened, but it was difficult to believe. He couldn’t quite trust his own memory of the night. No matter how much clearer his mind felt since receiving proper treatment, those days of fever still muddled together. He heard that Amane had up and switched her beliefs overnight -- she was now complacent about all of Shidou's treatments -- but Fuuta knew people didn't just change like that. He wanted to hear it for himself.
She lowered her gaze in shame. “I… I thought you hated me.” Her voice was steady. “As you should. I almost killed you. I accept any ill will you may feel.”
“I -- what? You’re wrong. You… it wasn’t…” He grabbed his head, grunting in frustration.
After standing awkwardly in the entryway the whole time, Amane took a few steps inside. She made it to his bedside when he finally collected his thoughts.
“It was your fucked up family or whatever that caused everything. They did this. And I went along and made things worse.” He looked away. His next words felt stupid to say to a little kid. He felt like the most pathetic, weak, loser. But it was too important not to say.
“They almost killed me. You saved me.”

wait- you like lcb and milgram?! have you ever considered. mikoto as yisang.
YES I DO. Tumblr user somokoto I was the guy to introduce limbusblr to the concept that the canto order might be based off the circles of hell. While I'm actually not the original proposer of this theory, it basically became mine due to the fact I saved it from being scrapped by the original proposer along with being the one to split violence into three sections and split satan away from treachery. Y'know. Normal things. I guess I also made some meme compilations. Those are popular and still get notes.
Anyways milgram x lcb :) While I have considered the prisoners as sinners before and in fact hilariously occasionally mix up the two names, I had not considered Yi Sang Mikoto. However, now I am! They both have really neat mirror motifs and stuff like that :)c I'm curious about how you see the two as similar! ...Oh I guess you can also say something about them and trains. That too.
May I also raise you. Haruka as Sinclair.

WOOOO!!! ROOTING FOR YOU AMANE!!!! better make it hurt better make it count better kill us in one shot!!!!
also interesting to me how amane's temple, the foundation of her beliefs, isn't as nearly dilapidated as fuuta's or mahiru's door. it's even covered up by these cartoonish clouds and rainbows reminiscent of her "transformation" sequence in magic. also fun how fuuta and mahiru were both protecting themselves from us but amane is putting herself in an attack position. and the additional symbolism of both her hat being gone and the backpack falling off ooo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when amane takes off the hat in undercover we get a brief glimpse of the first hint there's something beneath her (adorable!) surface. the hat now being completely gone from her t2 design likely represents how she won't shift back to that happy mask again during this trial.
there's also her backpack which is often associated with schooling (i imagine there's textbooks in there? it looks hefty!) which matches with her mark in backdraft. each mark in backdraft reflects the prisoner: mahiru's "heart" was marked, mikoto's "other half" was marked, and amane recieved an incorrect tick used in tests.
Tumblr media
so it really seems to me like, despite her lashing out to protect herself, amane is struggling with losing her "good girl" identity as a result of her guilty verdict.

okay please tell me I'm not the only person who didn't clock that shidou was talking about kotoko in this lyric
he's asking you to give him a chance and give him an inno verdict! he's making amends by helping the prisoners kotoko attacked! he's "extracting that fang" by healing their wounds! HOW DID I NOT REALISE THIS BEFORE

!!!!!!!!!! HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's coming out on October 25! I can't wait!
I expected him to be really angry like Amane, but this half scared half angry expression is really cool. To me, even the angry side looks scared.
The sign on the door is red and green, makes me think that we'll be dealing with RGB colors again.
Tumblr media
There's like 3 titles, Double, I'm and (MeMe). Further evidence for Trikoto theory!
The VD is going to be named Neoplasm. According to Clevelandclinic.org, neoplasm is "an abnormal growth of tissue that can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous)," which I think confirms the idea that the VD will focus on a different alter than the one we're most familiar with since it's completely different from the previous title, John Doe. The fact that it's basically named cancer is really sad to me.
The cover song is Reversible Campaign. I was hope for Not a Devil, but this is cool too. I'm not very familiar with the song though.
Also, it seems to be some sort of subway/train door.
