Tender Hands
Tumblr media
[Lil drabble I couldn't stop writing in my head while at lunch with my in-laws, who I can't tell about my obsession with Ghost. Copia is a chronic migraine sufferer because who wouldn't be after getting beamed with those stage lights night after night and also because I said so and so am I. GN reader, sfw, just a soft little post show piece. No spoilers for the Ghovie.]
The roars and cheers of the crowd are slow to die as Papa and the Ghouls make their way backstage, with Papa heading straight for the little corner he's claimed as a dressing area. He flops down onto his sofa, head in his hands, as you approach and offer him his post-show mint tea. He takes the cup with one hand; the other still pressed to his temple. As he slowly sips the steaming herbal brew, he groans quietly, the sound almost lost among the chatter of Ghouls, dancers, and stagehands scurrying about.
"Another migraine, Papa?" You ask as he finally removes his hand from his forehead, taking another drink of his tea.
"Si, unfortunately," he replies, and you head for the small chest on his vanity that contains his migraine medicine. You dose out the pills into your cupped hand and return the bottle to the chest before dimming the lamp in the corner of the space, making it as dark as possible. You offer him the pills and a bottle of water, and he sets his empty teacup down on the side table. "Grazie. You are a treasure, you know?" Papa swallows the pills with the water and leans forward, elbows on his knees, his eyes closed. His greying hair is beginning to fall in his face, loose of the copius amounts of hair spray used to make it stay, and he looks tired and pained.
You step forward, his head almost brushing your stomach, and gently press your fingers into the back of his neck, working loose the knots you find there. Your fingers slip beneath the collar of his shirt and rub what you can reach of his shoulders where they meet his neck, and Copia groans. He reaches for you, his hands hooking the backs of your thighs and pulling you close enough that he can rest his face against the soft black fabric of your shirt, not caring if he smears his paints now that the show is over.
You hum a gentling melody as your hands travel back up his neck and into his hairline at the base of his skull, working loose the tension you find there, and it is this press that makes him wince. The migraine has been progressing for a while, you guess, brought on by the brightness of the stage lights and the roar of the crowd over his in-ear monitors. Your fingers gently work through his hair along his scalp, mussing his hairdo further, and Copia sighs in relief as you rub small circles behind his ears and at the hinge of his jaw. He lifts his head as your hands travel to his temples, working out the pain as best as you're able.
"Behind the ears again, per favore," he requests, and you oblige. Copia groans again, pressing his face into your stomach as you work. After a while, he lifts his head, and his mismatched eyes gaze up into yours. By now, the medicine should be taking effect. Coupled with your massage, he should at least be feeling alright enough to change clothes and make it to his bunk on the tour bus.
"Better, Papa?" You ask, gently holding his face in your hands. He presses his cheek into your palm with a sigh.
"Si, tesoro. Much better."

How BG3 partners would help with migraines (cause as a migraine haver I love imagining this)
✨Astarion✨
Tumblr media
Astarion would be such a god send- not because he's familiar with caring for such ailments, no- but because he's so cold to the touch. Astarion would cuddle up to you, a fair trade off- he could enjoy your warmth and you could appreciate the cold touches against your forehead. He'd give you a shoulder rub, focusing on your neck and providing relief there. He'd also, as a courtesy, avoid drinking your blood for the next day or so, just so it wouldn't potentially make things worse.
🐻Halsin🌿
Tumblr media
Halsin would know just what to do. He'd know all the natural remedies- would know that mint rubbed against your temples would help, to bring you some ice water that'll soothe any pains. With druid magic he could easily summon some chunks of ice to either put in a cup for water, or to wrap in a clothe and put against your head. He'd make sure his tent got nice and dark so you wouldn't be bothered by the sunlight outside. He'd make sure you were nice and comfortable, and would come cuddle up with you once you had everything you needed.
🗡️Wyll💖
Tumblr media
Wyll would make you soup, and offer medicine he often took when dealing with such things. I imagine Wyll gets bad stress migraines sometimes so he has some remedies of his own that he can provide you with. He brings you a soup seasoned with a special blend he keeps on hand, key ingredient being cayenne pepper to help with blood flow. He'd keep you in his lap and gently spoon feed you before ushering you to lay down for a nap. He'd bring you a cold wet clothe to cover your eyes and forehead, and would stay by your side.
☀️ Shadowheart🌙
Tumblr media
She'd have some spells to help with such a thing. Keeping the tent nice and cool, she'd also keep it quite dark- either using magic to keep the light out or knowing how to seal the tent proper for it. She'd keep your head in your lap and have a night mask to make sure the light didn't potentially cause you pain. She'd keep your head in her lap and gently stroke your hair, soothing you and ushering you to sleep.
🪬Gale📜
Tumblr media
Gale would know some magic spells to help put you to sleep so you could heal and not be in pain. He'd even fill his tent with fog cloud to make the temperature nice and cool for you. I imagine he'd also have a nice few teas that could help you sleep it off, as well as keep you hydrated- and when you'd wake he'd bring you a nice meal, some bread to help with any nausea.
🔥Karlach🗡️
Tumblr media
Karlach would make sure you were nice and comfy. She'd focus on what you wanted and not how she knew how to manage pain- asking gently what you'd like for her to get for you. She'd probably bring some health potions and water to keep by your side, and keep you nice and cozy comfy in her tent. She'd even bring you Clive to cuddle with so you could sleep it off. I'd imagine she'd stay out of the tent to avoid making it a sauna, but I think she'd sit outside and tell you stories, maybe some she remembered from being a kid.
⚔️Lae'zel🛡️
Tumblr media
Lae'zel would show you meditation techniques used by her people to clear their minds ahead of battle. While she was no monk, it was a monk gith technique passed down to drive past the pain and be ready for the fight ahead. She'd bring you water and make sure you were comfortable, but aside from that she'd insist you focus on meditating the pain away. While potentially not effective the first time, eventually she does help you master the technique.

new shrink FINALLY sent in the valium script yesterday and y'all. valium is awesome. I think i like it better than klonopin. I mean klonopin made my migraines better than valium does. I don't know how to explain it except for the way I explained it to my neurologist:
migraines make my head feel hot. klonopin feels like a cool mint for my head. makes it feel cool. less pain.
but my migraines are under much better control since I started Botox about a year ago so it's less necessary than the mood calming needs to be.
but I'm trying to not take it until I get nice and riled? lol so all this political news I took in by going to Bluesky for a while, I just took my valium about 20 minutes ago
anyway how do any of y'all live without benzos i seriously find they make my life so much better? I was off for like five years because I was prioritizing my oxycodone script for pain relief but tbh I found that meloxicam does better for pain than any opioid and doesn't make me barf like the oxy did, and GOD I MISSED MY BENZOS.
i still don't think I'm bipolar but. valium is awesome lol. annoying that it took a whole week to fill it. and when i got a call back I got this stern guy giving me stern instructions to discontinue the klonopin, which I had refilled a friday night because THEY HADN'T FILLED MY VALIUM SCRIPT and i think they were salty about that but jesus christ, people. I left you SIX messages before you got your shit together and filled it, a FULL week later.
anyway, valium. yes.

Biggest tip I have is to use a migraine tracker app. I've had good luck with Migraine Buddy. It lets you keep track of symptoms, potential triggers, treatments and treatment effacies. Also will do doctor reports including the scales used toimpact functioning. It gives you hard data to grind your doctor's nose in. And make sure it gets scanned/filed into your chart. Also since your doctor is an ass communicate in SBAR if you're not already. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.healint.migraineapp
Two migraines that remain in the pain phase for more than 72 hours without breaking are dangerous and its recommended you go to the er, especially if you're showing stroke like symptoms. Depending where you are they may have a migraine cocktail( it varies but the nearst er to me used 1L Normal Saline, prochlorperazine, dyhyphendramamine, dextramethazone and ketorolac) or dihydroergotamine.
As for tips for dealing with the pain. I'm photophobic so blocking out as much light as humanly possible helps me. I'm not sensitive to sounds so listining to soothing music/biniral tones helps me. I've found meditations for pain on the Calm App and Youtube helpful. Migrastil an essential oil stick is useful as long as mint and lavender arent triggers. Scalp masage, accupressure points, and riki have all given me some relief.
Hydrate. Hydrating might not fix a migraine but dehydration will make one worse. Sometimes Gatorade with the electrolytes helps more than plain water.
My Neuro's PA recomened I take Magnesium, CoQ 10, Butterbur, and Feverfew all of which have helped me
If you have the money for it the Cefaly device helped me a lot. And it no longer requires a prescription. It's an eTNS unit and it's the single strongest nonphatmacutical tool in my tool kit. It's kicked 8-9 pain down to 6-7 pain and it can kill a migraine if you get it on during the prodrome phase. It's worth every penny of the 380 to 450 bucks depending on model. And they're running a sale atm. https://www.cefaly.com/products
I hope this is helpful.
You are simply AMAZING!! I will totally try with the supplements (cause I'm sure I need them too) ASAP! Also, unfortunately I don't have many things in this country, however, I am able to find replacements! The only one I don't think I will be able to buy until I get to travel overseas (cause I don't trust ebay/amazon/etc to deliver such expensive item here) is the Cefaly! But I totally asked a friend in Spain to tell me if they can find it there for me 🥺.
thank you so so much!!! This is not only useful for me, but to all of the people suffering from this shitty condition! Thank u again!! 💖

add your little tips, tricks, and hacks for feeling less bad when you feel a variety of bads
i'll start:
for sinus headaches, traditional medicinals eucalyptus mint lozenges. not cloyingly sweet, not a searing punch of too much menthol, actually tastes pretty dang good. dulls pain, clears sinuses, soothes throat all at once
also for sinus headaches, especially at migraine level, dab a lil bit of vaporub on the inside of a face mask just under where your nose goes and strap in for some slow, deep breathing. same as above but external and better for your teeth generally
more headaches, get one of those little face massaging wands (yes, basically an itty bitty vibrator) and apply it to your temples, brow bones, and the hollows just below your ear behind the hinge of the jaw. also apply over the bridge of the nose and over the sinus cavities (your cheeks and under your eyes) to help with congestion
back killing you? apply some icyhot, bengay, tiger balm, equivalent of choice to the ouched region. give it maybe five minutes before the on-fire tingles really get going and use a wet rag to wipe most of it off (may help to have a friend). thoroughly wet a towel in hot water (hot as you can stand), squeeze excess until damp and still hot, lay down face first somewhere, and cover your back (or other affected areas) with the hot towel. less burny, and the heat and relief seems to sink into the muscles better
stomach upset? drink as much water as you can stand to help flush your system. not an instant fix, but helps ease the suffering faster. sometimes also try eating really bland crackers or bread in case it's a too-much-gut-acid issue
if you wake up with a dreadfully dry mouth/sinuses in the morning, use a humidifier overnight while you're sleeping. humidifiers are also good for when the air is cold or dry and full of static
nothing else seems to touch your migraine? have a hot shower in the dark, sitting in the bottom of the tub. if you have minty body wash or conditioner, apply and be tingly

Migraines are debilitating headaches that affect millions of people worldwide, causing severe pain often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Traditional approaches to migraine management often involve medication, but Ayurveda offers a holistic perspective that seeks to address the root causes and restore balance to the body. At Arogyadham, we specialize in Ayurvedic treatment for migraine, providing personalized care that integrates ancient wisdom with modern understanding.
Understanding Migraines in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda, migraines are considered a manifestation of imbalanced doshas, primarily Vata and Pitta. The Vata dosha is associated with dryness, coldness, and irregularity, while Pitta is related to heat, intensity, and inflammation. An imbalance in these doshas can lead to the formation of toxins (Ama) and disturb the natural flow of energy in the body, contributing to migraine attacks. Stress, poor diet, irregular sleep patterns, and exposure to environmental factors are common triggers that aggravate these doshas.
Ayurvedic Treatment for Migraine
1. Herbal Remedies
Ayurvedic medicine uses a range of herbs known for their ability to pacify the doshas and alleviate migraine symptoms. Some effective herbs include:
Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri): Known for its calming effects, Brahmi helps reduce stress and anxiety, which can be significant migraine triggers. It also supports cognitive function and mental clarity.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): This adaptogenic herb helps in balancing Vata and Pitta doshas, reducing inflammation, and alleviating stress.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa): With its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric helps in reducing the inflammatory processes that contribute to migraines.
2. Panchakarma Therapy
Panchakarma is a comprehensive detoxification and rejuvenation therapy in Ayurveda. For migraine management, specific Panchakarma treatments can be highly effective:
Shirodhara: This therapy involves gently pouring warm oil over the forehead, which has a calming effect on the nervous system, reduces stress, and helps in balancing the doshas.
Nasya: Administering medicated oils or powders through the nasal passages can help in clearing accumulated toxins and reducing inflammation in the head and sinuses.
Abhyanga: A full-body oil massage that helps in balancing Vata dosha and promoting relaxation.
3. Dietary Recommendations
Diet plays a crucial role in managing migraines. Ayurveda emphasizes a balanced diet that aligns with your dosha. For migraines, the following dietary tips are recommended:
Avoid Trigger Foods: Common migraine triggers such as caffeine, alcohol, and processed foods should be minimized.
Incorporate Cooling Foods: Foods with cooling properties, such as cucumber, mint, and yogurt, can help in soothing Pitta and reducing inflammation.
Regular Meals: Eating at regular intervals helps in maintaining balanced energy levels and preventing fluctuations that could trigger migraines.
4. Lifestyle Modifications
Adopting a balanced lifestyle is essential for managing migraines effectively:
Stress Management: Practices like yoga, meditation, and deep breathing exercises can significantly reduce stress and its impact on migraines.
Adequate Sleep: Maintaining a regular sleep schedule and ensuring restful sleep is crucial in managing migraines.
Hydration: Staying well-hydrated helps in maintaining proper bodily functions and preventing dehydration-related headaches.
Conclusion
Ayurvedic treatment for migraine offers a holistic approach that addresses the underlying imbalances in the body, rather than just masking the symptoms. At Arogyadham, our experienced practitioners create personalized treatment plans that combine herbal remedies, Panchakarma therapies, dietary guidance, and lifestyle modifications to provide comprehensive relief from migraines. Discover Effective Ayurvedic Migraine Treatment in Kerala
Tumblr media
Migraine is more than just a headache. It’s a neurological disorder that brings recurring moderate to severe headaches often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. For the millions affected worldwide, migraines can significantly impair daily life. But did you know that your diet can play a crucial role in managing migraines? Pairing the right foods with Ayurvedic treatments can make a world of difference. Let’s dive into how you can better manage migraines with the help of Ayurveda and dietary adjustments.
Unlocking the Power of Food for Migraine Management
Magnesium-Rich Foods
Why Magnesium Matters: Magnesium helps regulate neurotransmitter function and blood vessel constriction, which are key factors in migraine development.
Top Sources: Spinach, kale, Swiss chard, almonds, cashews, peanuts, sunflower seeds, whole grains (such as brown rice, quinoa, oats), and legumes (like black beans, lentils).
Interactive Tip: Try adding a spinach and almond salad to your meals. Not only is it delicious, but it’s packed with magnesium!
Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)
Why Riboflavin Matters: Riboflavin contributes to mitochondrial function and energy production in cells, potentially reducing migraine frequency.
Top Sources: Dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese), lean meats (chicken, turkey, lean beef), eggs, green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli), and whole grains.
Interactive Tip: Start your day with a smoothie made from yogurt, spinach, and a banana. It’s a tasty way to boost your riboflavin intake.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Why Omega-3 Matters: These healthy fats possess anti-inflammatory properties, potentially reducing inflammation associated with migraines.
Top Sources: Fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, sardines), flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and hemp seeds.
Interactive Tip: Enjoy a salmon dinner with a side of quinoa and a sprinkle of chia seeds. It’s a meal rich in omega-3 fatty acids!
Hydration
Why Hydration Matters: Dehydration is a common trigger for migraines. Adequate hydration is crucial to prevent headaches.
Top Sources: Water is the best choice for hydration. Herbal teas and infused water can also contribute to fluid intake.
Interactive Tip: Infuse your water with cucumber and mint for a refreshing and hydrating drink.
Foods to Avoid for Migraine Sufferers
Tyramine-Containing Foods
Why Tyramine Matters: Tyramine can trigger migraines by affecting blood vessel constriction.
Foods to Avoid: Aged cheeses (blue cheese, cheddar, Swiss), cured meats (pepperoni, salami), pickled or fermented foods (sauerkraut), and soy products (soy sauce, tofu).
Interactive Tip: Swap aged cheeses for fresh cheeses like mozzarella or cottage cheese to avoid tyramine.
Histamine-Containing Foods
Why Histamine Matters: High histamine levels can trigger migraines in susceptible individuals.
Foods to Avoid: Fermented foods (aged cheese, sauerkraut), processed meats (bacon, sausage), alcoholic beverages (especially red wine), and certain fish (tuna, mackerel).
Interactive Tip: Opt for fresh meats and fish like chicken or salmon instead of processed options.
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
Why MSG Matters: MSG is a flavor enhancer that can trigger migraines by affecting neurotransmitter levels.
Foods to Avoid: Processed and packaged foods (canned soups, chips, snacks), Chinese food (often contains MSG), and some restaurant-prepared dishes.
Interactive Tip: Prepare homemade soups and snacks to control the ingredients and avoid MSG.
Caffeine
Why Caffeine Matters: While caffeine can provide temporary relief for some, excessive consumption or sudden withdrawal can trigger migraines.
Foods to Moderate: Coffee, tea, energy drinks, and chocolate. It’s advisable to monitor caffeine intake and avoid sudden changes.
Interactive Tip: Gradually reduce your caffeine intake by mixing regular coffee with decaf until you can comfortably drink less caffeine.
Artificial Sweeteners
Why Artificial Sweeteners Matter: Some artificial sweeteners, particularly aspartame, have been reported to trigger migraines in sensitive individuals.
Foods to Avoid: Diet sodas, sugar-free gum, and processed foods labeled “sugar-free” or “diet.”
Interactive Tip: Use natural sweeteners like honey or stevia instead of artificial ones.
Alcohol
Why Alcohol Matters: Alcohol, especially certain types like red wine, beer, and whiskey, can trigger migraines due to its vasodilatory effects and histamine content.
Foods to Avoid: Red wine, beer, champagne, and spirits with high histamine content.
Interactive Tip: Choose non-alcoholic beverages or stick to drinks with lower histamine content like white wine or vodka in moderation.
