Hello🤗 I want to ask you something. Nicholas's sons were busy cheating on their precious wives. What did Grand Duke Micheal and Queen Olga of Württemberg, whom I always loved and found honorable among the brothers, say about their brothers cheating and creating various scandals? Were they not giving any warning to their brothers?
Hello! Your are correct in that at least three of Nicholas I's four sons cheated on their wives. I don't believe Mikhail Nikolaevich had a mistress, but I could be mistaken (@ladysophy might be able to give you more information there), and I don't know for sure, but I'd imagine he didn't care too much about the extramarital activities of his brothers. At the time, it was the pretty much the norm for men, particularly those of rank, to keep a mistress--Nicholas I had one, and his sons Alexander, Konstantin, and Nicholas definitely did--and Alexander III and Nicholas II were the only Romanov emperors who DIDN'T cheat on their wives. Again, that's just the way it was, and women were expected to be "dignified" and look the other way. Olga of Wurttemberg was certainly one such woman. She claimed that her father's mistress, Varvara Nelidova, was just a "friend," and she was well aware of what Alexander II was doing with Ekaterina Dolgorukova, but she believed that the emperor could do whatever he wanted--even though she was close to Empress Maria Alexandrovna. Olga had to contend with her own husband's affairs--Karl I of Wurttemberg was gay, and he had relationships outside of his marriage, most notably with an American by the name of Charles Woodcock--but she looked the other way and bore it with grace like the queen that she was. Hope this helps!

Scopophobia
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/WemRkho by AnnoyingRaven When the events with Kang unfold, Sylvie can’t help but feel lost, like she made the wrong choice. At first, she told herself she was fine, there was nothing wrong. She should be enjoying herself, not worrying! But she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being watched. It certainly wasn’t the TVA, no. Last time she checked; they didn’t have werewolves or people that were too… “uncanny” to be natural, and they certainly didn’t have strange yellow doors that led to liminal spaces. Her confusion only grows when she finds not an alternative universe, but instead, an entirely separate multiverse from their own filled with spider-people, and a hidden universe within Sylvie’s, which appears to be the center of the recent paranormal events that have been occurring recently. Together, they must unite against a mysterious cult that deals in paranormal activity before it’s too late. Sanity
So my sister @devilbat request 21, 26, and 28 form the prompts. I decided to make this part of My Uncle Tony series.
21.) And so, I start another day being kidnapped.
26.)all that blood looks good on you, brings out yours eyes.
28.) why is there a raccoon in the kitchen? And why is it wearing an apron?
You blew a strand of hair from your forehead as you looked around the small room. The walls a slate grey, a cement floor, an annoyingly bright uncovered over head light bulb that wasn't doing anything to help the throbbing in your head. A singular metal door that had multiple dents. The ropes that wrapped around your upper torso holding you tight to the chair was an ever present reminder that you knowing the Asgardian brothers would no doubt lead you to moments like this. Adding to the fact that your uncle was not only a very prominent man but an Avenger as well, that probably didn't help. But on the bright side at least you had had your back surgery.
"And so," You sighed heavily with aggravation. "I start another day being kidnapped."
It had been months, almost a year since your last kidnapping. You had went out to replace the stuff Thor had took while Loki was the distraction from last night. It was the return trip, broad daylight, well some what overcast but still very much during the day. Carrying two bags back toward your upscale apartment, at first you thought you had felt a bee sting you. And naturally you brought your hand up to your neck, only to the brush dart out instead.
And that lead you to this moment, well actually only a couple moment before this one right here. The blinding headache, the steady small pain throbbing in your neck, and the demeanor of a disgruntled penguin. You wanted to slap whoever thought this was a great idea, this never went the way they planned. However that never stopped them.
The door creak and all you did in response was raise your eyebrow. A very well dressed man with a neatly groom goatee walked in, his heels clicked against the cement floor. He held his hands behind his back, and you weren't sure if he was the big boss man or just a really well dressed henchman.
"Asgardains or Stark?" You demanded.
"Come again, little girl?" He asked with a thick accented voice.
"Or Romanoff?" You tilted your head slight, narrowing your eyes. "Russian?"
"What would give you that idea? And why would you think Romanoff?” He questioned, stopping just before you. Maybe if you had the ability to stretch your legs the tips of your toes would touch his black Italian leather shoes.
"Well, your accent. I know a lot of people, been around a lot of different accents. Comes with the territory. So what do you want with Natasha?”
“It’s not Romanov that we want.” He stated, his lip curling in a sinister sneer. “We want our asset back.”
“Your asset?” You question feeling your brows bunch together.
“Yes, and you, little girl are going to get him for me.”
“Me?” You rolled your eyes taking a deep breath. “I don’t have your asset and this, this right here kidnapping me and holding me hostage is only going to end badly for you.”
“Nobody knows where you are, trust me, we are safe here.” The guy smirked, cocking his head to the side. You laughed in response looking straight at him.
“You really think you’re safe here? You seriously think so? Do you know how many times I’ve been kidnapped?” You asked him, taking a deep breath. “Look buddy, attempting to go through me to get your asset is like going through Comcast to get ahold of Disney, it just doesn’t work that way.”
“One of two things are going to happen.” You stated flatly before continuing. “You either get Thor and Loki, cause they are very protective me, especially the raven haired God of Mischief. He’ll likely rip you to pieces while Thor fries your ass. Or you get my uncle, and he is not someone you want to be on the bad side of. Cause either route you go, it’s going to be severely painful.”
“I’m hoping it’s your uncle. We are heavily fortified, and he will need his entire team to get you out. And when he does that he will bring me my asset.”
“Okay, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” You stated just as a red light in the hall turned on and began flash before the power flickered. “Guessing that was the back up generator being kicked on?”
The man looked over his shoulder before pressing on the ear piece that was hidden in his ear. He shouted something in Russian briskly. He turned his gaze back to you, you shifted, straightening yourself a bit more.
“Guessing the perimeter was breeched?” You smiled.
It didn’t take long before you heard gunfire and the man in front of you sprang into action. He spun on his heel, pulling a gun from his hip. He never got a shot off before you watched his body jerk and blood spray out behind him onto you. You reeled back slightly in the chair caught off guard, normally things like this didn’t happen yet here you were covered in someone else’s blood. You blinked hard a couple time before it dawned on you a flash of green and gold had entered the room.
“My pet,” Loki cooed as he knelt down in front of you, a dagger materializing in your hands. He cut you free as you slowly looked up and met his eyes. “All that blood looks good on you, brings out your eyes.”
“Loki?” You said softly before the room went black.
—————-
You woke with a start, your soft blanket surrounding you and Loki’s side of the bed empty. If it weren’t for the fact you could still feel where the ropes had rubbed against your arms making them raw you would of just thought it was a dream. The window outside was dark and you weren’t sure if it night or early morning.
Slowly pulling yourself from the confines of your warm soft bed, the second thing you notice was you were in your pajamas. So whatever had happened after being doused in the guys blood Loki had at least had the decency to change you into something clean. Hushed voices came from your open doorway making you wonder what the hell was going on.
Slipping out into the hall you excepted to hear Tony sternly talking to the brothers, yet the voices you heard beside the idiots were ones you didn’t recognize. You walked out into the landing looking down into the living room where a woman who was green was standing. Not wearing but her skin was green and you felt a wave of confusion. She was talking to another woman with overly large eyes and antennas sticking out of her head.
Whatever they hit you with must of had some psychedelics into as a tiny tree looking man was kicking a huge guy that was silver and red at the base of your stairs. The tree thing repeatedly say ‘I am Groot.’ in a very angry tone. Almost everyone stopping talking as you hit the bottom of the stairs, except the tree. You started walking toward the kitchen where you could hear Thor and Loki talking to someone else when a man in a red leather jacket stepped out of the dining room, his out fit almost reminding you of Micheal Jackson era clothing.
“Well, hello gorgeous.” He smirked, his blue eyes traveling over you.
“Wow, nice one Thriller, the 80’s called and want their wardrobe back.” You stated walking past him as you rolled your eyes.
Stepping into the kitchen reveled even more confusion.
“Why is there a raccoon in my kitchen? And why is it wearing an apron?” You asked looking from Thor to Loki.
“Who you calling a raccoon? Is she calling me a raccoon?” It spoke, you blinked even harder looking slowly up from it back to the brothers.
“Lady y/n, this is Rabbit.” Thor stated proudly, smiling.
“Thor, that’s not a rabbit.” You replied looking at Loki.
“Darling, I know this might all seem confusing, but these people are who helped us get you out of Hydras base. This is Rocket, the only sane one of the group.” Loki explained.
“If you think he’s sane then obviously it’s someone else in this group. I think I’m going to see if my therapist has any openings. You boys have fun and don’t use my good knives.” You replied, slowly turning and taking a deep breath. “And also to ask my uncle if I’m going to need a bigger apartment.”

Living with Ghosts: Eleven Extraordinary Tales
Author: Prince Michael of Greece
First published: 1996
Pages: 192
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
How long did it take: 1 day
I was hoping for a cozy-creepy reading for an autumn day, unfortunatelly, Prince Micheal failed me yet again. The man is, at best, and average writer, and this book more than any other shows how self-obsessed and special he (thinks) he is. Because this Prince can see ghosts. Literally any place he steps in he can see them and they narrate their stories to him. The worst parts of the book were him trying to "sound" like the female ghosts he chose to present, because they all sound like a machine. And a male one at that. His stories, so completely and obviously made up by him (whereas I had hoped he was simply rewriting an original lore) were uninspired and for most part bland. Finally, the dude cannot even get his own family history accurately right, so how am I supposed to believe even the parts which are supposed to be a real depiction of history? Greatly disappointed.
House of Glass
Author: Susan Fletcher
First published: 2018
Pages: 368
Rating: ★★★★★
How long did it take: 7 days
This book is like a strong summer heat, the kind which flows through your bones and closes your eyes and everything feels lazy and languishing, the pleasant type of exhaustion. There are so many aspects to it, and so many things I love, that I do not feel the need to explain and describe it. I just want to bask in its feeling for a little while more.
The Romanov Royal Martyrs: What Silence Could Not Conceals
Author: Mesa Potamos Monastery
First published: 2019
Pages: 512
Rating: ★★★★☆
How long did it take: 7 days
This book offers yet another view of the Romanovs, their personalities, decisions and influence on the Russian history (as well as guilt/innocence). Naturally one needs to take into account that this ais a book by deeply religious Orthodox Christians about other deeply religious Orthodox Christians and the faith and its importance for the last Imperial family is the underlying theme for this whole book. The writing flows very naturally, and even though at times I thought the book was way too apologetic in regards to Nicholas and his share of blame on the minefield of events between 1894-1917, it does make one consider those events from a perspective rarely explored by historians (who in general tend to be snarky and smart-ass, if not outright damning). Finally, one has to admit this publication is simply beautiful. Richly illustrated with black and white photos and a bunch of coloured ones near the very end as well.
Maria and Anastasia: The Youngest Romanov Grand Duchesses In Their Own Words
Author: Helen Azar (editor)
First published: 2015
Pages: 191
Rating: ★★★★★
How long did it take: 5 days
Excellent resource focused on two msot overlooked girls in the family. The letters written by Maria Nikolaevna especially give the Grand Duchess her own distinctive voice.
Man's Search for Meaning
Author: Viktor E. Frankl
First published: 1946
Pages: 165
Rating: ★★★★★
How long did it take: 6 days
What makes this recollection of Holocaust different from all other books on the same topic is the chosen point of view. The horrible situation of the prosoners, the torture, the humiliation, all of it is there, but instead the focus is on looking for a viable reason for living. Extremely interesting, uplifting and definitely offering food for thought and self-reflection. The only problem I had was the audiobook, where the narrator, for whatever ungodly reason, decided to speak with a ridiculous German accents every time a fellow prisoner or a guard was quoted.
The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America
Author: Eric Larson
First published: 2003
Pages: 496
Rating: ★★★★★
How long did it take: 7 days
What an excellent book! (at least as far as the enjoyment goes)I was honestly surprised at how much it grabbed me and did not let go. The juxtapositioning of the achievement of the human effort and inspiration (and pigheadedness) to the lowest brutality which forms the other part of the human nature was well balanced. Whenever the parts about the World exhibition started to be a bit too tiring, one was thrust into the cold and horrifying world of a serial killer. And when those became too overwhelming, returning to the lights of the White city felt like a welcome reprieve. Definitely a non-fiction worth your while.
Anna Pavlova: Twentieth Century Ballerina
Author: Jane Pritchard
First published: 2013
Pages: 208
Rating: ★★★★☆
How long did it take: 2 days
This is a beautiful tribute to Anna Pavlova the Dancer and her enormous legacy. It is richly illustrated with high-quality photographs and makes for a perfect cofee table book. Sadly, I still know next to nothing about Anna Pavlovna the Person.
Children of Blood and Bone
Author: Tomi Adeyemi
First published: 2018
Pages: 531
Rating: ★★★☆☆
How long did it take: 15 days
Sooooooo..... this is one of those books I probably would have loved had it been around when I was 14, but at 32 and some pretty decent reading behind me I feel rather indifferent to it. I appreciate the underlying thought as well as the African-inspired setting, but other than that the book felt extremely awkward in pacing (the first half is literally just action with hardly any world-building, other times the story seems to simply stop.... and not do anything). The author holds a promise, but as of this book it is far from genius (the random modernized language thrown into the conversation rubbed me the wrong way) and all three main protagonists were extremely interchangable when it came to their "voices". I prefer some mystery to my stories too, so the very much linear and served-all-at-once kind of storytelling here did not suit me. Add to it the book is full of YA chlichés, and what you get is a competent book that can take your mind off of your own daily worries for a bit, but that could also have been so much more.
Chernobyl Prayer: A Chronicle of the Future
Author: Svetlana Alexievich
First published: 1997
Pages: 294
Rating: ★★★★★
How long did it take: 5 days
I have read books about torture and plagues, about wars and pandemics, about murders and slavery, but few of those raised such horror in me, made me so utterly exhausted and left me both angry and just numb. I am one of the children who were born in the central Europe shortly after the Chernobyl disaster and as such I have heard the name and have always had some knowledge of the event. But this book finally put it into perspective, made me aware of the acute danger, criminal decisions and human despair the name of Chernobyl truly stands for. It is as important as it is horrifying.
A Dog's Heart
Author: Mikhail Bulgakov
First published: 1925
Pages: 125
Rating: ★★★☆☆
How long did it take: 5 days
I love Bulgakov with all his feverish energy, poetic descriptions of the ordinary and racing imagination, but though I liked this book, it was, in parts, way too jumpy and sketchy to be truly enjoyed. Would probably work better as a theatrical play.
Marina
Author: Carlos Riuz Zafón
First published: 1999
Pages: 196
Rating: ★★★★☆
How long did it take: 3 days
In spite of some issues I had with the pacing and revelations of vital information..... I enjoyed this book and read it very quickly. It holds the same love of old Barcelona as the author´s more famous The Shadow of the Wind, it has the same issues of feeling abandoned, experiencing first love and raking through a mysterious past to reveal something extraordinary. Unlike The Shadow of the wind it holds some supernatural elements and would make a good read even for younger readers. Me myself just needed a bit more flesh on the solid bones of the story for the book to be simply excellent.

A Tale of Two Empresses
During the Romanov Dynasty there were two great women who took the name Maria Feodorovna, both having many differences and many similarities.
The elder Maria Feodorovna (1759-1828) was born Princess Sophia Dorothea of Württemberg, daughter of Friedrich II Eugen, Duke of Württemberg and his wife, Friederike Dorothea of Brandenburg-Schwedt. Though she was a girl she received an excellent upbringing and that played a role when she was chosen as the second wife of the then Tsesarevich Pavel Petrovich, son of Empress Catherine the Great. The marriage produced 10 children, 9 of whom lived to adulthood and 2 of whom, Alexander and Nicholas, became Emperor of Russia. Despite having many children, the marriage between Maria and Pavel was not a happy one. Maria’s early life in Russia was not very happy, she was trapped in a dysfunctional marriage, lonely, her eldest children were taken away from her practically at birth by their grandmother, and she was often overlooked. She spent years underneath the rule of Catherine, before her husband finally succeeded the throne in 1796. While Pavel was a despised ruler by the Russian people, and she tried her best to positively influence his rule. Pavel’s rule did not last long, exactly 4 years, 4 months, and 4 days before he was executed by those who wished to put Alexander on the throne. With the death of Alexander, Maria became Dowager Empress and became more involved with the lives of her children and their futures than that of state. Maria lived out her life in relative quiet and died at the age of 69, in 1828. At the time of her death she had survived her mother-in-law, her husband, five of her children, and 7 of her grandchildren.
The younger Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928) was born Princess Dagmar of Denmark, second daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Cassel. She was raised humbly, sharing a room with her elder sister, Alexandra (later Queen of Great Britain), helping with the cooking, and having to make and mend her own clothing. Her family was suddenly forced into the limelight when her father became King of Denmark, and she and Alexandra suddenly becoming quite eligible princesses with many new potential suitors. Minnie, as she was known, soon caught the eye of the Tsesarevich Nicholas “Nixa” Alexandrovich of Russia, eldest son of Emperor Alexander II of Russia. The two met and almost instantly fell in love, the two were soon engaged and were quite happy. Tragedy struck soon after the engagement when the young Nixa died of Meningitis at only 21 years old. Minnie was inconsolable but found comfort in Nixa’s younger brother, Alexander, who became the new Tsesarevich. There is a story that on his deathbed, Nixa took the hands of Alexander and Minnie and joined him, his way of giving his consent for the new match. At first Alexander and Minnie didn’t care for each other and everyone thought that the two would make an odd match, Alexander was over 6 feet tall, was nicknamed “The Russian Bear” and was a very quiet simple, and introverted man. Minnie on the other hand was quite tiny, which she made up for with a bubbly personality and a love of extravagance. The two grew to love each other and had one of the happiest royal marriages of the time, in fact Alexander was the first Romanov ruler since Tsar Ivan V to not have a mistress. Their happy marriage was made happier by the births of 6 children, 5 of whom lived to adulthood. The couple’s happiness was short lived, when Alexander died at only 49 years old in 1894. This left Minnie’s son, the 26 year old Nicholas, Emperor of Russia. Minnie had never been too political, preferring to use her influence elsewhere, but she was an early adviser of her son and had influenced some of Alexander’s policies as well. Soon Minnie realized that her son was not keen on her advice and for the most part kept out of politics. With revolution looming, however, Minnie and many other members of the Romanov family pleaded with Nicholas, and his wife Alexandra, to make drastic changes in order to preserve the monarchy. These pleas were in vain when Nicholas, after much unrest in the capital of Petrograd, abdicated the throne on behalf of himself as well as his son Alexei, on March 17, 1917. Minnie’s youngest son Michael was next in line, he decided that the best course of action was to only accept the throne if there was a vote held in which the people decided they still wanted a monarchy, no vote ever happened and with that decision the Romanov Dynasty which lasted for over 300 years suddenly ended. Maria escaped the revolution and spent the rest of her days in her native Denmark viewed as a symbol of a time long gone and as the unofficial head of the exiled House of Romanov. She died in Denmark on October 13,1928, ten years after her sons Nicholas and Micheal, and Nicholas’ family were killed. To her dying say she refused to believe that they were murdered. At the time of her death she had survived her in-laws, her beloved husband, all of her four sons, her daughter-in-law, and 5 of her grandchildren.

Review: Jack Romanov - The Smoking Room Sessions I
Jack Romanov isn’t your typical, singer-songwriter type. He’s not some eccentric guy living in an apartment downtown with an old comic book collection. No. He’s not swooning ladies with the way he pushes his hair back while he bites a guitar pick or crushing beers at some college dorm party. No. Jack Romanov isn’t your typical, singer-songwriter type because Jack Romanov isn’t even a person. He’s a four-piece band and this is their first EP.
The Review
I like this EP. I don’t know the details of where it was made. Maybe there’s an actual location called “The Smoking Room” that I’m just not aware of but I think the name describes the project well. This project feels like it was made in a smoke filled room.
The guitar work from Micheal Mirabella, Sean James Sweeney, and Estaban Cajigas ooze with macho attitude. The sweat and the grime clearly shines through in their performances. Sonically, everything on this EP projects a dejected and dissatisfied outlook towards... well, everything. This is a mood that’s helped by Aiken’s tired, laid back vocals. Everything feels soaked in grief and gin and I love this feeling. With The Smoking Room EP, Jack Romanov have successfully displayed their fantastic sense of atmosphere. It’s all bittersweet and heartbroken like smiling through tears. This EP is like a war vet, it’s seen some shit.
I have one big setback though. The mixing is consistently not consistent throughout the EP. Nick Aikens finds his vocals buried often. This is especially true at the beginning of It Must Be Hard To Be a Bird In The City where I struggle to hear his lyrics under the effects, guitars, and piano. Nick lands close to a good place in the mix during the middle two songs but I never quite feel like they hit that mark completely.
The performances themselves are nice, I’m just not a fan of the production. It’s too muddy for my taste. I like the drums, I like the guitar, I like Nick’s voice, and at it’s core, the songs are solid. The presentation just doesn’t communicate this very well. The Smoking Room Sessions is a good EP that has meat. The meat is just lost in the sauce.
