Michael Tylo Vs. Timothy Dalton
Propaganda
Michael Tylo - (Guiding Light, Zorro) - Blond and blue-eyed with a charming smile and a dimple on his chin, Tylo had the sort of charisma that made him equally attractive as the villainous Alcalde in the first two seasons of the Zorro series (where he was able to use his real life fencing and riding skills) or the mysterious hero Quinton McCord Chamberlain in his breakout role on the soap opera Guiding Light, where he was one half of the show's super couple Quint and Nola. He was also a devoted family man, choosing to leave the Zorro series only because it filmed entirely in Spain and he missed his wife and children back home in the US.
Timothy Dalton - (Jane Eyre, Scarlett, Framed) - "...Yes he was Bond, but he is also the man Jane Eyre fans have to complain about because he is ‘too attractive’ to be Mr Rochester (but he plays it the best, of course). He is the only man with enough old-school charm to follow in Clark Gable’s shoes as Rhett Butler, and so devastatingly devious in a homoerotic ITV miniseries called Framed (it’s on YouTube) ... He brings a theatrical gravity; a sense of humour; and those killer, send-me-straight-to-heaven blue eyes to every single role, and if you don’t vote for him, very simply, you are wrong." Michael Tylo:
Timothy Dalton:
Love of my life, thy name is Timothy Dalton. I have been in a monomaniacal, all-consuming and tragically one-sided relationship with this man for too many years now. It’s frankly embarrassing. Just a look from him makes my knees weak, idk how his female costars coped. Whenever I bring up anything in conversation my friends know there must be a link to him, it’s that bad, in fact I’m the only reason 100% of my peers even know his name.
Yes he was Bond, but he is also the man Jane Eyre fans have to complain about because he is ‘too attractive’ to be Mr Rochester (but he plays it the best, of course). He is the only man with enough old-school charm to follow in Clark Gable’s shoes as Rhett Butler, and so devastatingly devious in a homoerotic ITV miniseries called Framed (it’s on YouTube). I also have to shout out his episode of Charlie’s Angels, in which he sports the shortest and swoon-worthiest shorts known to man while mastering being the boy-toy of Farrah Fawcett (I cried when my parents deleted my recording of it on tv at a particularly low point of my life). He brings a theatrical gravity; a sense of humour; and those killer, send-me-straight-to-heaven blue eyes to every single role, and if you don’t vote for him, very simply, you are wrong.

Diego and Felipe’s Father & Son/Brothers Moments + Eyes-rolling Diego
Ramon, walking across the room and turning to face Diego and Felipe: And you believe this preposterous story?
Diego: Felipe does not lie.
Ramon, walking behind Diego and Felipe: He also does not speak! So pray tell, how do you know when the boy is lying or not?
*Diego rolls his eye with an exasperated sigh.*
Diego: We communicate through sign language.
Ramon, a bit sarcastically: Ah, sign language, yes! Well, perhaps you took this…
*He holds out his hand palm down, while Diego rolls his eyes again.*
Ramon: …for that.
*He turns his hand palm up.*
Ramon: You are extremely naive, de la Vega. The boy simply stayed out all night and concocted the story to save his own skin.
Diego, shaking his head and chuckling: Alcalde…
Ramon, angrily: You are trying to embarrass me in front of the church elders! Well, it will not work! Now, if you don't mind, I'm an extremely busy man.
*Diego looks at Felipe, rolls his eyes a last time and - putting his hand on Felipe's back - leads him out of the office.*

Alternatives to "The Devil's Fortress"
I was just posting on Victoria's contradictory backstory, and of course, this episodes plays a part. Which made me think of how much of this episode really didn't make sense. Including the entire framing sequence.
So, does anyone have any ideas on AUs to this one? Different way of writing out Ramone? Different family background for Victoria? Different father and brother? Just anything?
Edit: Actually de Soto was something of a step down in the cruelty meter (though I certainly don't think he's really a decent fellow, like some), which is unusual for a replacement villain. Wonder how things would have played if Luis has remained. Not too, too much different, I guess, given the episodic nature of the show.

Zorro (Get your swashes buckled, folks!)

youtube
(Thanks to megafan_12)
For those who are unaware, Zorro (“The Fox” in Spanish) is a masked swordsman who fights a corrupt government in the same vein as Robin Hood or the Scarlet Pimpernel, but in the town of Los Angeles during the time California was under Spanish/Mexican rule. Much like the aforementioned literary heroes, Zorro is a member of the local aristocracy (Don Diego de la Vega, son of one of the largest landowners in the region) who acts like a dandy and a coward to hide his masked activities.
He has been in literature since 1919 and has been in several movies and television shows (usually by a white man) In fact, it wasn’t until the 70s that a Latino (or Spanish) actor was cast in the role! Talk about injustice!
Most people know the Zorro films that starred Antonio Banderas as the title character (who inherited the mantle from Anthony Hopkins, yet ANOTHER white guy!) Many have seen Guy Ritchie as Zorro in the 50s (who didn’t need to worry about being white since the series was filmed in black & white and no one could tell his skin tone) The film I was first introduced to the character was Zorro, the Gay Blade (no, it wasn’t porn!) which starred Goerge Hamilton (yep, another while guy) as Don Diego and his twin brother Ramon (AKA “Bunny Wigglesworth” who was, shall we say, a bit flamboyant) The less said about that film, the better.
But the subject for this review was a forgotten gem from the 90s that aired on the cable network known as The Family Channel (I swear I saw it in the USA Network, but I couldn’t find any record in my research to prove this)
The series, naturally, follows Don Diego (played by Duncan Regehr yet ANOTHER white guy!)
…and his masked alter ego. (NOTE: Regehr was more muscular and fit than most previous actors in the role, meaning he could be a bit more physical. The character was also written as being a bit of a science buff)
Don Diego lives with his father Don Alejandro (played by Efrem Zimbalist Jr (yep, also white), who voiced Alfred in Batman: the Animated Series, in season 1…
…and Henry Darrow (FINALLY! A Latino actor, and one who actually played Zorro a few years earlier!) for the rest of the series)
…as well as his family’s mute servant Felipe (played by Juan Diego Botto), who also pretends to be deaf and is the only one who knows Don Diego’s secret (it’s not like he can tell anyone)
Don Diego’s love interest is Victoria Escalante (played by Patrice Martinez, who also played the love interest in The Three Amigos)
Zorro fights the corrupt Alcalde (governor) of the territory around Los Angeles Luis Ramone (played by Michael Tylo...yep, another one)
…but was replaced in season 3 by Ignacio de Soto (played by J.G. Hertzler (Seriously?!))
The Alcalde’s chief aide (and leader of the garrison) is Sgt. Mendoza (played by James Victor, the ONE Latino on the bad guys' side), who is the comic relief (of course...) for the series (which explains why they can never stop Zorro)
The plots generally revolve around the Alcalde’s latest plot to stop Zorro by trapping him while performing some form of injustice against the people of Los Angeles, only to be foiled. Note that while the series is very by-the-numbers, the action sequences are well done and there are a number of well-known (or soon-to-be-well-known) actors (as well as, for some reason, a handful of World Wrestling Federation wrestlers) who have guest starred.
As always, if you would like to see an episode reviewed, please let me know!

Traken does'nt really do that youth hanging out thing, does it?
The Doctor had the Master, Rani, War Chief, Drax, and Damon, and if you believe DL then there's also Rallon, Millennia, Jelpax, Mortimus\Meddling Monk, and Vansell. (AKA the "Deca")
Adric had Varsh, Keara, Tylos, and through the EU also Jiana, and Zayn. Overall there was a bunch of teenage Outlers in Alzarius, it seems like an huge friend group of every or almost every teen Alzarian.
Tegan has of course Colin and Robin. (Yes, I know, Tegan and Robin only meet later on.) According to DL, there's also a friend group composed of Susannah, Hiss, Dave, and Richard, but in other parts of the EU there's Felicity\Lish, Gary, and Mike. (A different Mike from the Michael Tanaka she dates much later)
Nyssa just has Luvic, and they did'nt seem to hang out much with each other either.
Though I do have a lot of Traken OCs their age! Demia, Elkor, and Mithis, who I meant to be future Consuls. (And Mithis is a "Sea Trakenite").
Then there's Zontak, who is Katura and Seron's son. He was living somewhere else during the events of tKoT.
I even made a Trakenite Peasant once, I named her Solya but actually technically her name should be Solyko or maybe Sotyko? Sotiko! BC of that "female peasants have ko instead of a or ia" name ending thing.
Tegan literally said Nyssa should've been at the club

Angry Diego
*Zorro grabs Ramon and pushes him back up against the garrison wall.*
Zorro, through clenched teeth: From this moment on, you are this far away from death!
*He holds his index finger and thumb less than an inch apart.*
Zorro: At night, look closely into every shadow for my sword, and by the cold light of day, know that I am just one step behind you like the fox that I am. Mark me well! One sinister move, one malicious deed, and I will swoop down on you like God's thunder.
*He tightens his grip on Ramon's collar.*
Zorro: From this moment on, I own you evil heart, and I will crush it, if you hurt this pueblo anymore.
*Zorro lets go of Ramon's shirt and departs.*
