On this week's episode, Cody and Garth are joined once again by Michael Swaim of Small Beans! Together they discuss the time a famous author wrote a book posthumously. That's right! It's actual ghost writers! They also discuss Michael's new book, The Climb and delve into the philosophical ramifications of generative A.I. on the world of artists and creators. So grab your Ouija™ boards, fire up the chatbots, and crack a few glo-sticks, it's about to get weird.

LAWS OF CASTING | Bonus scene | Reeve | 234 words
Tumblr media
Prompt by @flashfictionfridayofficial
--
Clemens let the water’s coolness hit his face, sinking a little deeper as he floated there. The pool water was calm. It was quiet. Almost too quiet…
He was right to be suspicious.
Soon enough, Reeve rushed out of the backroom yelling and holding up a huge beach ball, popping with bright primary colors.
     “Look what I found!”
Memphis had just surfaced from swimming underwater. She was catching her breath. But seeing Reeve run through the blue tint of her goggles, she yelled back at him.
“Reeve, stop! You’re going to sli–”
He slipped right through the very same water he’d splashed out of the pool earlier (doing jumps and canon-balls). He dropped the beach ball in a frantic wave of his arms and lost his balance right over the edge of the pool. Just barely managing to leap into the fall.
Making a big unintended splash. He sank straight down into the water and puffed his cheeks as he braced the sudden change of gravity–waiting to float back up. When he came back to the surface, the sharp chirp of a whistle rang in his ears.
“No running on the pool deck!” the lifeguard called out.
“Sorry!” Reeve smiled as he held back a laugh. He scanned for wherever he lost the beach ball. Then he saw Michael, who was already out of the water, retrieving it for him. “Michael! Toss it here!”

Tumblr media
In den Hauptrollen sind Rainer Bock als Richter, Clemens Schick als Ankläger und Bernhard Schütz als Verteidiger zu sehen. Hochkarätig besetzt sind auch alle anderen Rollen, so werden die Zeug:innen von Andreas Anke, Filipp Avdeev, Elisabeth Duda, Marc Fischer, Arno Frisch, Attila Georg Borlan, Dorka Gryllus, Marek Harloff, André Hennicke, Marcel Hensema, Rony Herman, Marco Hofschneider, Robert Hunger-Bühler, Rene Ifrah, Eva Maria Jost, Christian Kaiser, Klaudiusz Kaufmann, Nicolette Krebitz, Andreas Lechner, Peter Lohmeyer, Jiri Madl, Karl Markovics, Thomas Meinhardt, Robert Mika, Axel Moustache, Dirk Ossig, Axel Pape, Christiane Paul, Barbara Philipp, Andreas Pietschmann, Ralph Schicha, Peter Schneider, Andreas Schröders, Axel Sichrovsky, André Szymanski, Sabine Timoteo, Tom Wlaschiha, Mark Zak und Matthias Zera verkörpert. In der Rolle der Angeklagten standen Thomas Dehler, Nico Ehrenteit, Wilfried Hochholdinger, Christian Hockenbrink, Timo Jacobs, Ronald Kukulies, Lasse Myhr, Christian Pfeil, Torsten Ranft, Michael Rotschopf, Frank Röth, Matthias Salamon, Niels Bruno Schmidt, Tristan Seith, Michael Schenk, Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey, Adam Venhaus, Till Wonka vor den Kameras.

An 18K chapter (#19) for Reclaimed! PLOT happens! Also, how did I ever initially think I could write this story in only 10 chapters?! 😂
Summary:
During another all A(a)rchangel meeting in response to Crowley disabling the Metatron's secretly installed Hell spy network, Raphael figures out who Crowley was before he Fell, and all he wants to do is immediately go to Hell. But first, he goes with Aziraphale to fulfill Crowley's request of checking in with Clemens. There is indeed a reason Crowley had sensed an impossible depth of emptiness or reaching from one of the angels he had grudgingly taken under his care. Many lost things are about to be found and revealed. Heaven's Healer has been prevented from caring and protecting and saving the ones who needed him most and who he cared about most once already. Heaven will burn before anything stands in his way of that happening again.
Excerpt:
Then Raphael slammed the door to the room and literally sealed it shut before pulling a chair directly opposite Aziraphale and so close their knees were almost touching. He grabbed one of Aziraphale’s forearms and, unable to contain himself any longer, blurted out, “Was Crowley, Chamuel? What Saraqael said… Was he?”
Aziraphale looked right at Raphael. “I am as certain as I can be without him actually confirming it, yes.”
Raphael dropped his head and made an inarticulate sound.
“You want to go to him right this second, don’t you,” Aziraphale said, sympathetically.
“YES!” Raphael exploded, standing up out of his chair and pacing in circles, “Especially when I think about what…” Raphael sat back across from Aziraphale and his gaze was burning. “You just came from him, right?”
Aziraphale nodded.
“How long was he with Satan?”
“Weeks,” Aziraphale whispered.
Raphael dropped his head, burying his hands in his dark hair. “And he’s only been out two days?” he asked, his voice muffled from between his arms.
“Pushing three now probably, but yeah,” Aziraphale replied. He paused a long moment, “He’s not in a good way, Raphael, and I don’t know what to do.”
Raphael looked up, his dark eyes flashing, “Well no fucking shit he’s not in a good way! Do you have any comprehension how fucking impossible it should be for him to be the tiniest bit functional, let alone running the goddamn entirety of Hell and dismantling that arsewipe's illegal spy technology, and what forcing himself to do all that anyway, let alone right after being tortured for weeks, is fucking doing to him?!”
Aziraphale pressed himself backwards in his chair. A string of angry swearing was not what he expected to fall out of Raphael. “Do you know the full extent of what Hell and Satan do to demons?” he asked once he'd gotten over his shock.
“Yes, Aziraphale,” said Raphael scathingly, “I have managed to keep my ear to the ground and up to date on the goings on and how things function. Overhearing Michael’s conversations and piecing other things together was not too hard.”
“No, I mean…” Aziraphale struggled to put his real question into words, “I thought after what I saw Satan do to Crowley at the barn before they went down to Hell that I had a pretty good idea too. But… I don’t know anymore… He seems…there’s clearly things beyond. And I know that doesn’t make sense, but he talked about not being able to leave Hell due to Satan having made it so there are physical consequences if he does, like there’s some auto-mechanism thing almost. And it’s just… I don’t even know what all I’m trying to say because I haven’t even gotten the chance to think about it all properly yet, but he was properly terrified when I suggested leaving but he absolutely refused to tell me what the consequences were and I wondered if maybe you might have an idea or… I don’t even know…”
And now he dropped his head into his hands. “How can I come in here and hold a meeting like that with the Metatron of all angels, and then feel so completely worse than useless and helpless when it comes to Crowley,” he asked Raphael in almost despair.
Raphael sat back in his chair, lost in thought. “To answer your first query,” he said at last, “No, I don’t know specifically what Satan might have done. But whatever it is, I guarantee it’s worse than either of us can currently imagine, and I would urge you to believe whatever Crowley tells you and know that it’s probably exponentially worse than he’s letting on.”
...........
Mark opened the door a few seconds after Aziraphale knocked. “Hiya, Bossman!” he greeted cheerfully.
Aziraphale glared as he walked through the doorway.
Raphael tried to hide an out loud laugh in his elbow.
“Oh, you must be Raphael!” Mark said, his eyes lighting up and sticking out his hand, “Good to meet you, sir! I’m Mark. Please, come in!” Mark gestured broadly as he shook Raphael’s hand.
“Nice to meet you, Mark. I’ve heard good things about you,” Raphael smiled.
Mark positively beamed and could barely contain his energy as he closed the door, “Thank you, sir.”
“Just, Raphael. No ‘sir’. Feels too commander-y,” said Raphael, the smile not dropping from his face at Mark’s genuine excitement at meeting him, and Aziraphale’s huffy sighs next to him over being called “Bossman” while Raphael got called “sir”.
“Clemens ran out to grab a couple things for the fridge. He should be back any minute,” Mark said. “You two want anything to drink? I’m afraid that water, tea, coffee, and Lagavulin 16 is all we have at the moment.”
“Oh lord, you are Crowley’s children,” Aziraphale muttered.
“And what does that mean?” Raphael asked, deeply curious.
“We are not his children,” Mark interjected, offended, “We just…picked up certain habits is all.”
“Mmm, yes, that’s one way to put it,” Aziraphale said, and then pointed right at Mark, “Which would be believable if you didn’t behave like his long-lost child either. Or younger sibling, or twin, or something that angels don’t even have.”
“Anyway, what the Bossman is referring to,” said Mark, pointedly ignoring Aziraphale’s glowering, “Is us only having those particular drinks. Coffee and whiskey, Lagavulin and Talisker specifically, being Crowley’s particular preferences. And since he was the one who helped integrate us to Earth and show us how it all worked, we, of course, not knowing the difference, simply picked up some of his habits. So now we apparently,” and it was Mark’s turn to glower at Aziraphale, “Get called his children. Which is highly insulting because we’re obviously not CHILDREN! I love your outfit by the way,” Mark added, turning his attention to Raphael and abruptly changing the subject as he gestured for him and Aziraphale to take a seat anywhere in the small sitting room of the flat. Mark picked the closest chair and draped diagonally in it, propping one foot on the arm of said chair. “It’s very non-Heavenly,” he finished, grinning.
Aziraphale pointed, “See? Twin, child of, something.”
Mark shifted his pleased grin from Raphael over to Aziraphale and it became one of pure sarcasm.
Aziraphale spluttered, “Uncanny. Downright uncanny.”
