What is an 'Emporer?'
Not to be a dick but it bothers me when writers that actually have editors – as I assume is the case with The Hollywood Reporter – make errors that should have been caught by someone long before an article is published.
In other words, I can see how Mia Galuppo misspelled 'emperor' but I don't get how whomever is supposed to be her editor missed the error.

Billy Porter in talks for new Cinderella film
Tumblr media
Billy Porter in Talks to Join Sony's 'Cinderella' (Exclusive) OCTOBER 10, 2019 2:59PM by Mia Galuppo (hollywoodreporter.com)
The Emmy winner and 'Pose' star will join Camila Cabello, who is tackling the titular princess role. Billy Porter is ready to grant some wishes.
Porter, who recently earned an Emmy for outstanding lead actor for his role on the FX series Pose, is in talks to join Sony's Cinderella. Sources say that Porter will be playing the movie musical's resident fairy godmother....
Billy Porter. In a musical. Playing the fairy godmother. (Honestly, if I were the director of the world, I’d be very tempted to go against type and have him play the most fabulous Fairy Godfather -- as in the mob, yes -- EVAR! It would totally work with what he wore to the Emmys!)
All I can say is ....
YES PLEASE THANK YOU !

Patrick Stewart to Play Bosley in 'Charlie's Angels' (Exclusive)
Elizabeth Banks, who is directing the project, is also playing Bosley. That's right, the movie will have multiple Bosleys.
Patrick Stewart is in final negotiations to join Elizabeth Banks’ reboot of Charlie’s Angels.
Kristen Stewart, Aladdin actress Naomi Scott and British newcomer Ella Balinska are starring as the Angels in the Sony feature project, which Banks is directing, producing and acting in.
The new story takes the female-fronted detective-agency premise of the original 1976-81 TV series, and 2000 and 2003 movies global, with the Townsend Agency now a security and intelligence service that has teams around the world. The movie will focus on one of those teams and the next generation of Angels.
In a twist on the usual proceedings, the project seems to have multiple characters named Bosley, who in the past acted as the face of the enigmatic and never-seen owner of the detective agency, Charlie Townsend. Banks is playing Bosley with sources telling The Hollywood Reporter that Stewart is also playing a Bosley.
Banks and Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider's Web) wrote the script, working off of earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas, and the story is said to build on what's come previously.
Producing with Banks are her husband, Max Handelman; Doug Belgrad, who is also co-financing through his 2.0 Entertainment; and Elizabeth Cantillon.
Sony aims to release the movie Sept. 27, 2019.

 by Mia Galuppo 3/1/2018

TriStar has picked up the worldwide rights to the project.
Oscar winners Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong'o will play onscreen mother and daughter in The Woman King for TriStar Pictures.
Inspired by true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries, The Woman King tells the story of Nanisca (Davis), general of the all-female military unit known as the Amazons, and her daughter Nawi (Nyong’o), who together fought the French and neighboring tribes who violated their honor, enslaved their people, and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.
The film is based on an original idea by Maria Bello, who will produce via her Jack Blue Productions. Cathy Schulman will produce through her Welle Entertainment, along with Davis and her husband Julius Tennon via their JuVee Productions.
TriStar president Hannah Minghella and Nicole Brown will oversee the project for the studio.
“The Woman King is the powerful true story of an extraordinary mother-daughter relationship,” said Minghella. “And there’s no-one more extraordinary than Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong’o to bring them to life.”
Davis, who is repped by CAA, Lasher Group and Litcher Grossman, can currently be seen in the fourth season of the ABC series How to Get Away With Murder and will next be seen in Steve McQueen's crime thriller Widows.
Nyong'o is currently in theaters with Marvel's massively popular Black Panther and is set for zombie comedy Little Monsters. She is repped by Del Shaw and CAA.
Bello is repped by UTA and John Carrabino Management.

Welcome to episode 62, in which we discuss the work and influence of geek culture's super problematic fave, Joss Whedon. Is he the right choice for the upcoming Batgirl film? New Movie Theatre Experience?
Tumblr media
“Cinema is not competing against VOD. It’s not competing against home entertainment. It’s competing against restaurants, comedy clubs and out-of-home experiences” (Hollywood Reporter).
Tim League (chairman and founder of Alamo Drafthouse) presents the movie theatre not as being in competition with online film exhibitors but with other out-of-home entertainment. In this case, choosing the cinema is not a choice of how to view a film, but a choice of how to spend leisure time and money outside of the home.
The Alamo Drafthouse, an American exhibition chain, could be an example of one way that cinemas might adjust to create a new experience that draws people back to movie theatres over other leisure activities. The company differentiates itself by serving food and drinks during the screening, as well as running many special screening events.
