People shouldn't try to do straight covers of Slipknot because no other metal band in the world has that many fucking members so it'll come off sounding a little hollow, you've gotta get weird with it and put your own spin in there

Metallica - Enter Sandman 1991
"Enter Sandman" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica. It is the opening track and lead single from their self-titled fifth album, released in 1991. It evolved from a guitar riff that guitarist Kirk Hammett wrote, after being inspired by Soundgarden's 1989 album Louder Than Love. The title is a reference to the Sandman, a character from Western folklore who makes children sleep.
The single was released on July 29, 1991, two weeks before the release of Metallica. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 in the US and nine other countries, and sold over 22 million copies worldwide, allowing "Enter Sandman" to become "one of the most recognizable songs of all time in rock". The single peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. In addition to the nominations received by the album as a whole, the song was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 34th Grammy Awards in 1992. It was voted Song of the Year in Metal Edge's 1991 Readers Choice Awards. The music video won Best Hard Rock Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards and was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
Motörhead covered "Enter Sandman" in 1998, and received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards. "Enter Sandman" is used in the polka melody "Polka Your Eyes Out" for "Weird Al" Yankovic's 1992 album Off the Deep End. The song was also sampled by British electronic duo Utah Saints and American rapper Chuck D on their track "Power to the Beats". It was covered by Weezer as part of The Metallica Blacklist tribute album. It was also used by NASA mission control CAPCOM B. Alvin Drew to wake up space shuttle astronauts aboard STS-123. The song was selected for Mission Specialist Robert L. Behnken by his fiancé.
"Enter Sandman" received a total of 81,1% yes votes!

'Tis time...my 'tism decided to challenge me and stand me up against the ultimate musical 'tism. Tobias Forge's
Influences in the music of the band Ghost (tributes, nods & inspirations)
Some of them are a very straightforward copy-paste action, some of them are smaller nods towards other artists and some of them are only influences, or even something I personally hear, but not everybody might. They are in order from most obvious to might-be-my-delusion. I didn't include covers because. Kinda obvious.
It is possible that some of these are simply samples, I didn’t look into that, but if I’m being completely honest, I don't think Tobias is a sample guy. Also, there’s couple examples from Impera alone, mostly because he spoke about his inspirations for it a fair amount, which makes it easier to trace, so to say.
Tumblr media
This one goes first, because it's literally the same thing! Just reversed. I feel like that's common knowledge in the fandom, but I couldn't skip it. If you didn't know and Deus Culpa always hurts your ears (same), this is why!
(These two are in one file because Tumblr has an audio limit and I had to merge something) Tobias frequently speaks of his love for Metallica's music, as well as its members, so it's honestly no surprise hfhfh. He fangirls hard, and it even got him to open for them as we all know, so that's super cool!
I haven't seen/heard him talking about Opeth that much, but he is and/or used to be close with multiple members so again--no surprise at all.
This one is super interesting, because it's not only similar soud wise.
“[...] we recorded this album [IMPERA] in Atlantis Studio in Stockholm, [...] where ABBA recorded most of their hits. [...] it’s the exact same outboard gear, mixing console, microphones, marimba and piano we had around us. You’d play the piano and it would sound exactly the same as it did on Money, Money, Money.” --Tobias Forge for Guitar World
Not much to say about this one other than hell yeah, Michael Jackson.
This one also has a play on Europe's, which I find super cool! Swedish rock unites. From what I remember Tobias has also mentioned something about Whitesnake being an important influence.
(This one is empty for the first 10 seconds to go around the copyright scan) This is a cute little nod towards Pink Floyd that has Tobias put into live shows, and it's been a thing since 2015.
Another one that Tobias has spoken about for Guitar World.
“The double bass allowed for that Vinnie Paul [of Pantera] thing where there are triplet-feel things on the kick drum. Nothing against Pantera, but what influenced me there was actually a track called Blood Ritual by Samael, which had that feel I wanted to tap into.”
It was said about Watcher In The Sky, but I think same idea guided Twenties as well.
Griftwood was also talked about for Guitar World
“What made the song for me was the fact that there’s this crazy breakdown in what’s otherwise a Sunset Strip kind of thing, which I see as more Van Halen than Ratt.”
No song was mentioned by Tobias, but I had Talkin' 'Bout Love in mind even before I read this article, so I'd say it fits!
Pretty self explanatory, I think.
(This one is empty for the first 10 seconds to go around the copyright scan) Kansas is an absolute gem and to me it does sound like it was the inspiration here. Knowing how much respect Tobias has for rock classics, I'd say it's very possible he had Carry On Wayward Son in mind.
Tumblr media
And that's it! Sorry if y'all hoped for more jfgjdfg but anyways, hope you enjoyed my yapping and, as always, any questions are very welcome :3

Devotional Playlist For Lord Ares there is going to be mostly heavy metal and about destruction and war. This tributed to his aggressive, bloodlust, and anger.
Literally a song that talks about charging and dying in war very epic.
Other war themed song very fast and loud and very high vocals this thrash metal very more fast than regular heavy metal like Iron Maiden. Aggressive and panicked kinda like how Ares is represented as.
This is a classic hymn to Ares in Greek!
A song about the great conqueror Alexander the Great and his campaign
It’s literally a imperial Latin march song in Latin from the movie Ben Hur. Mars was very popular among the Roman Army for obvious reasons.
Very rebellious and aggressive song also thrash
It’s dark but it’s not aggressive, it’s a song about despair and loss
End of civilization resulting in chaos and disorder.
I know I put this with Athena but the themes is very prevalent in war like ptsd and wounds that can never heal nor recover.

Eddie Munson x Reader blurb
Warnings: Not much, just mild swearing and the fluffiest fluff ever
Summary: Eddie thinks he talks too much, but you don't mind.
A/N: This is so super short and probably inaccurate for his character, but I just wanted to write about Eddie ranting bc that's so him.
××××××××××××××××××××
Those eyes. Those warm, lively, chocolate colored eyes. Sometimes, they spoke more than his mouth did. As of right now, they were speaking with the same intensity.
About a half hour ago, Eddie called you as you were just finishing up homework. The boy sounded like he'd just ran up and down the street a hundred times.
"Hey, Eds, what's up?"
"Can I come over and scream about something? Because talking about it over the phone doesn't cut it."
"Yeah, of course."
"I'll be over in like- I dunno- five minutes? See ya then."
"Okay, bye, ba-"
He'd been too excited, to the point where he hung up before letting you reply. Eddie's elation was very evident with the way he'd been ranting about Metallica's newest album, ...And Justice For All, for the past fifteen minutes, after finally getting to listen to it on vinyl.
"--And, seriously, the-the intros to almost all of the songs are just- holy shit! Y'know what I mean? Like, especially in Blackened and To Live is to Die- especially To Live is to Die. It starts off all acoustic and mellow n' all that, then the electric fades in and it just fits. The coolest thing about that, is the song is apparently a tribute to Cliff Burton, one of the most metal bassists of all time, and I just-" Eddie cut himself off to look up at you from his wild hand gestures.
"Keep going." You replied simply, hand on your cheek as you ogled at him with utmost adoration.
Those big eyes stayed staring at you for a moment before he spoke up again, hands frozen in mid air.
"I'm rambling again, huh?"
"I never said I didn't like it."
"But, do you even understand what I'm talkin' about?"
You stayed silent for a moment, taking in the sight in front of you. His chest in that Black Sabbath tank-top moving just slightly faster than it usually would because of how much air he needed to rant non-stop, cheeks lightly flushed with both embarrassment and excitement.
"I don't need to understand what you're talking about to understand how much interest you have in it. It's cute." You smiled gently, watching the soft, pinkish hue to his cheeks grow just a little more prominent.
××××××××××××××××××××
He's so me. (I literally wrote him in this)

Donald Duck, José Carioca (Zé Carioca) and Panchito Pistoles playing like rock musicians in 1990s outfits - Modern Three Caballeros - The Three Caballeros Month - Schemes and Community - Jose Carioca Week - My version - Tribute to a rock musician
After a long time, I finally made a drawing related to the Three Caballeros, or rather my version of the modern caballeros. I drew Donald Duck, José Zé Carioca and Panchito Pistoles in 1990s outfits playing rock music and playing as a rock band like "Rocky The Three Caballeros". More precisely here they are teenagers and adolescent college students who decided to play for their concert, and together they love rock music (part of my Quack Pack AU). Donald and Panchito play electric guitar and Ze Carioca drums. They love to sing and play rock music with each other and love many rock bands and musicians like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica, Scorpions, Queen and Fred McQuarrie, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Nirvana, David Bowie, The Doors, Guns N' Roses, Motörhead, Sex Pistols and many other groups. Donald is practicing to be a good singer, but he is not doing very well. They also all wear jeans and backwards baseball caps together to look more cool. Maybe that's why their nephews (Donald's and Jose's nephews) like to wear backwards caps.. ;) Yes, even though it's past I certainly wish Jose Carioca a happy birthday which is celebrated on August 24th and also a happy Brazil day which is celebrated on September 7th. Happy Brazil Day!
In addition, I dedicate this drawing to one of my favorite singers who unfortunately died this week and passed to the other world. Most of you don't know, but it's a rock singer from my country who is the founder of the group "Riblja orba" (Fish Soup) and was one of the best Yugoslav rock groups of that time. Yes, his name is Bora Đorđević and I can only say thank you for his songs that I loved to enjoy and sing. Especially this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZAxy3FNiwU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMsPPcHkxVQ
More about Bora here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bora_%C4%90or%C4%91evi%C4%87
That's why I drew a picture of a fish bone behind the Three Caballeros since it's the symbol of that group for those who ask. Certainly thanks to Bora Đorđević and his group for everything. Rest in peace, amen.
By all means, I hope you like this drawing and this idea and feel free to like and reblog this, just don't copy these same ideas and my versions without my permission and without mentioning me. Thank you! Happy Brazil Day once again!

Friday, July 19: Metallica, "Phantom Lord"
R.I.P. Cliff Burton (1962-1986)
Before they or anybody else were labeled thrash, Metallica offered up an American response to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.  Their love for Diamond Head has been documented to the point of exhaustion, but they were just as likely to cover Savage, Blitzkrieg and Saxon in their early shows, and that manifested in the original material they cooked up for Kill ‘Em All.  “Phantom Lord” was pretty much a tribute to Savage and Motӧrhead even as Hetfield, Ulrich and Mustaine were rapidly charting fertile new territories: there was some Fast Eddie Clarke in the frantic but swinging riff, Lars was more of a percussion enthusiast than an actual drummer, and James barked and yelped like a California Cronos.  But there was also a distinct personality and point of view embedded in all the frenzy, not just an American perspective but also the idiosyncrasies of these individuals (Cliff wasn’t as prevalent here, but he wouldn’t fully assert his chops as both player and composer until the following year).  And that made “Phantom Lord” a crucial stepping stone for Metallica as well as a bridge between movements.

Cliff with Ozzy and bass player Phil Soussan on the first leg of the Damage Inc. Tour in 1986. Ozzy said, "While we were on tour, I'd keep seeing James hanging about like he wanted to ask something. Eventually, he walked up and said, 'We want to play 'Paranoid' with you.' And we were like, 'Sure!' - Then they showed just how big Sabbath fans they were. Cliff had a massive smile on his face the whole time."
